This is your 24/7 news update. The latest views this hour in just four minutes. President Trump is making the first trip of his second term today. Trump spoke in North Carolina about the future of FEMA, where tropical storm Helene caused billions of dollars worth of damage last September. I'll also be signing an executive order to begin the process of fundamentally reforming and overhauling FEMA or maybe getting rid of FEMA. I think frankly FEMA is not good. Then head to California to review the damage from the recent Los Angeles area wildfires. In a Fox News interview that aired Wednesday night, Trump threatened to withhold federal aid to California if its water policies aren't changed. He also criticized FEMA saying he'd rather see the states take care of their own problems. White House correspondent John Decker says the relationship between California Governor Gavin Newsom and Trump isn't the greatest. You know Donald Trump speaks his mind. He doesn't edit his thoughts. Newsom has said he wants to meet Trump on the tarmac when he lands, but it's unclear if a meeting between the two will take place. Trump is expected to walk the grounds of the Palisade Fire burn scar. The Senate will likely decide the fate of President Trump's pick for Secretary of Defense tonight. The Senate voted largely along party lines Thursday to advance Pete Hegcess nomination to the floor with a final vote of 51 to 49. Republican Senators Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins voted against the former Fox News host with Murkowski saying she cannot in good conscience support his nomination. California Democrats are talking about a ruling this week which puts President Trump's plan to end what is commonly called birthright citizenship on hold. It is as American as apple pie that if you're born in America you're an American. Congressman Ted Liu is one of 18 members of Congress who are naturalized citizens. He called the Republicans reinterpretation of the 14th amendment both ludicrous and unconstitutional. The Los Angeles area lawmaker says if approved some 330 million Americans would need to prove their citizenship. Cash Patel will appear before the Senate next week for his FBI director confirmation hearing. Illinois Senator Dick Durbin though has already said he'll oppose the confirmation. Durbin said Patel has neither the experience the temperament nor the judgment to lead the FBI. Eilisa Taylor the White House says deportation flights for illegal immigrants have started in a post on X Friday. Press Secretary Caroline Levitt shared pictures of individuals being boarded on to military aircraft. Levitt said President Trump is sending a strong and clear message to the entire world. If you illegally enter the United States of America you will face severe consequences. Trump campaigned on the promise of conducting the largest mass deportation operation in the country's history. Deportation flights happened under the Biden administration but typically use civilian or commercial aircraft. Consumer sentiment is falling on inflation worries. The University of Michigan's final reading for January fell four percent from December. Inflation expectations for the year ahead soared to 3.3 percent reaching their highest level since last May. The surveys chief economist noted declines in sentiment were broad-based across all age and income groups. Many consumers indicated they were buying in advance to avoid future price increases on big ticket items. Tom Brady may be considering selling his mansion on Florida's Indian Creek Island. Karen Curtis has details. According to Bloomberg Tom Brady's home located on the exclusive enclave known as billionaire bunker is not listed but is receiving offers. Property values have soared since Jeff Bezos arrived on the island. And now Brady's newly finished bachelor pad has reportedly received bids valuing it at more than a hundred and fifty million dollars. A record for the most expensive home ever sold in Miami longs to Ken Griffin who paid nearly a hundred and seven million for his coconut grove estate in 2022. Karen Curtis Miami.
