Sally Patterson with more. Challenges from four democratic states argue Trump's action violates the U.S. Constitution. Specifically, they say the 14th Amendment, which says anyone born in the country, is a citizen. A judge in Seattle has on Thursday agreed to pause implementing the policy for 14 days, while more briefings are held. There are also several other legal challenges across the country, creating an early speed bump in Donald Trump's roadmap for his presidency. Sally Patterson, New York. President Trump is signing an executive order to declassify records related to high-level assassinations. He signed the order Thursday, promising to release information on the murders of former President John F. Kennedy, Senator Robert F. Kennedy, Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Trump said many people have been waiting a long time for this information, and he added that everything will be revealed. New York's Attorney General is announcing that Purdue Pharma and the Sackler family have agreed to pay $7.4 billion to resolve opioid lawsuits. Sarah Lee Kessler with more. Leticia James issued a statement Thursday saying that Sacklers agreed to increase their part of the money offered after the U.S. Supreme Court rejected a previous settlement last year. James was one of more than a dozen attorneys general to sue Purdue Pharma, claiming that Connecticut-based pharmaceutical giants aggressive marketing of Voxie Cotton led to a national opioid addiction crisis. The CDC says more than 700,000 people in the U.S. have died from an overdose involving opioids since 1999. I'm Michael Casner. President Trump's pick for Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseath has advanced through the Senate confirmation. Mark Mayfield fills us in. The Senate voted largely along party lines Thursday to advance Hegseath with a final vote of 51 to 49. Republican senators Lisa Murkowski and Susan Collins voted against him. With Murkowski saying she cannot in good conscience support his nomination. She added past behavior that Hegseath has admitted to, including infidelity on multiple occasions, demonstrate a lack of judgment. Hegseath has faced allegations of sexual assault and excessive drinking. The Senate advanced Hegseath's nomination on Thursday, setting up his confirmation vote on the floor Friday. The nominations have been announced for this year's Academy Awards, more from Jennifer Polsoni. The best picture feel that this year's Oscars has a very musical feel. Nominees include Wicked, Amelia Perez, and a complete unknown, Nora, the Brutalist, Conclave and Dune Part II. Carlos Sofia Gascon is now the first openly transgender acting nominee in the history of the Oscars for Best Actress for her performance at Netflix's Amelia Perez. The film also making history for its 13 nominations, breaking the record for a non-English film. Adrian Brody has the chance to win the second best actor Oscar of his career for his performance in the period drama The Brutalist. The 97th Academy Awards will take place March 2nd in Hollywood. A new study shows those with ADHD have a shorter life expectancy. Lisa Taylor with more. Research published by Cambridge University Press found that men with ADHD were likely to live 7 years less than those without ADHD. For women, it was likely to shorten their lifespan by 8 years. The study's authors wrote that the evidence is extremely concerning and highlights unmet support needs that require urgent attention.
