mhm. Yeah. This is your 24, 7 news update. The latest views this hour at just four minutes. Firefighters say they're getting the upper hand on the Hughes fire in the mountains north of Los Angeles. While fire started yesterday near the town of Castiac and spread to over 10,000 acres, putting more than 30,000 people under evacuation orders. It's like California's burning up. You know, it's very scary. It's very scary by Wednesday night. The fire was 14% contained and interstate five through Castiac was reopened. Red flag warning indicating high fire danger is currently in effect for parts of Los Angeles County. President Trump is threatening to withhold aid for California speaking Wednesday with Sean Hannity on Fox News. Trump said it's because of the state's water policies. I don't think we should give California anything until they let water flow down into there to the south. It's a political thing. I don't know what it is. You know, they talk about the delta smelt. It's a little tiny fish like this. You say it's an endangered species. No wonder it's endangered. It's not getting any water. Trump said he believes California Governor Gavin Newsom has mismanaged many things, including the state's water supply. Newsom has not responded to the latest comments from the president. The president is expected to visit the burn areas of Los Angeles tomorrow. Multiple reports say the president is getting ready to send 10,000 troops to the US Southern border. An internal government memo reportedly says the troops will help border patrol agents to shut off access to asylum in the US and will use Department of Defense bases to hold migrants awaiting deportation. Last night, the Defense Department confirmed it was sending an additional 1,500 active duty troops to the Southern border on top of the 2,500 service members already stationed there. Confirmation votes for taking place on Capitol Hill today for President Trump's cabinet picks. The Senate is expected to vote on John Ratcliffe's nomination for CIA Director I'm Michael Kastner. The legal battle is now on a three month delay after the lead attorney for the plaintiff lost his home in the Palisades fire. The current owners bought the home in 2023 for $8.35 million with the intention of demolishing it. House sits on a lot adjacent to their current home. But in 2024 the city had the home designated historic cultural monument which protects it from being torn down. Attorneys for the owners real estate heiress Brenna Milstein and her husband producer Roy Bank. The city violated the law by giving the home the designation.
