The Taoiseach moved to alleviate fears over the future of creches in the new year, following news that one of the main insurers in the market has pulled out, leaving Creches with only one insurer to choose from for cover going forward.

Childcare owners are now said to be struggling to get cover and many say they may not be able to stay open.
