Inquest into the death of Limerick Prisoner Sean Hayes

Limerick Coroners Court has heard systems failures at Limerick Prison contributed to the death of an inmate who was at high risk of suicide when he was committed to the prison in 2017.


31 year-old Sean Hayes, from Kileely, died on the morning of May 6th, 2017, hours after being found in an unresponsive state in his cell.


A postmortem confirmed he died as a result of asphyxiation due to a ligature.
