Confidence Through Health

Comfort foods, fortified foods, and toxins

In this episode, we get another Q&A session from Chris Hoke. Overcoming the emotional need for comfort foods is not just good for your physical health, but it’s a metaphor for life. We talk about how long it takes to feel the effects of good food or bad food and we discuss some of the issues toxins play in dieting and weight loss. We also briefly touch on our reactions to marketing of “healthy” products.

Food triggers an emotional response because we have built our society around having meals together. Why is it that foods that taste good tend to be foods that aren’t healthy? This is actually a response that we learn early in life. In most western societies, we have failed to teach our children the basic life skill of how to eat properly. Too many people rely on their taste buds instead of what their body actually needs.
