[MUSIC] New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers told reporters Wednesday that he was fine for missing the team's mandatory summer mini camp in June. But he cleared the air with head coach Robert Salah and his teammates over the absence. Rodgers said he missed the camp due to a previously scheduled trip to Egypt with some friends, which he had planned around the team's off season schedule last year, slightly different than this year's schedule. Rodgers said he attempted to change his trip arrangements when he realized the team's schedule had changed but was unable to. Rodgers said he enjoyed his trip while taking the podium as the Jets started training camp with the 40-year-old aiming to return from a week one Achilles injury that cost him nearly his entire first season in New York. But Rodgers said he's looking to end this season with a different trip in mind to New Orleans for Super Bowl 59. [MUSIC] This episode is brought to you by Experian. Elsewhere in the NFL, star 49ers offensive lineman Trent Williams is currently absent from training camp due to a contract dispute with the team. That holdout is ongoing while wide receiver Brandon IU remains present but not participating in 49ers training camp activities as he attempts to secure a contract extension or have General Manager John Lynch honor his recent request to be traded somewhere else. Williams and IU are both key components of the star-studded 49ers squad that returned to the Super Bowl last season but lost the game to the Kansas City Chiefs for the second time in four years. The 49ers did finalize a contract extension with running back Christian McCaffrey earlier this offseason but have decisions looming with quarterback Brock Herde, tight end George Kittle and wide receiver Divo Samuel each having just two years remaining on their current contracts. A stunning scene took place at one of the first events of the 2024 Paris Olympics on Wednesday as a men's soccer match between 2022 World Cup winners Argentina and Morocco who made a surprise run to the semi-finals of that tournament was delayed two hours when Morocco fans stormed the field after a seeming last-minute goal for Argentina. Argentina scored a goal in the 16th minute of stoppage time to tie the match at two but the goal was eventually disallowed by the video assistant referee which ruled that Argentina was off-side. Morocco eventually hung on for the two-to-one upset victory over an Argentina squad that does not include most key players like Leonel Messi but does include recognizable stars from its first team like Julian Alvarez and Nicholas Odomendi. Later the US men's Olympic soccer team fell three to nothing to a team from host nation France which is led by French soccer legend and potential United States men's national team coaching candidate Thierion Rhee.
