Erev Shabbat parashat Vayechi - Erev shabbat program, with Rav Ezra Bick. Guest: Rav Aharon Lichtenstein
This is KMTT, and this is Residence, and today is Eves, so that's clear, but that way is free. We have a special program for Eves, so that. In the beginning, I mentioned that two people have pointed out to me that the opening line of this program. When I say, "This is KMTT," he reminds them of Walter Cronkite broadcasting some London during the Blitz. I think the person who told me that meant it as a criticism, actually I took it as a compliment. I would be broadcasting with the clarity of Walter Cronkite from London during the Blitz, and if you were aware of some of the bits that he's had in getting these thousands out of time, the situation isn't all that efficient. Secondly, a number of people have written, and I'm very thankful for this, about the quality of the sound. And I agree. The quality of the sound is not as good as it should be, and we don't make efforts in the near future to improve it, which will involve buying different equipment. And so please bear with us in the meantime, and we do hope, I'm sure, that in the near future, we will make great strides in making the voice clear, sound better, and the general experience to be more enjoyable. This is Passipa Saturday 3, begins describing the end of Jakob's life. And there's a medish, which I actually quote, in the beginning of the pasha. When the medish asks why the first section, the first pasha, or we call it a section of the reading, is stuma, there are two different kinds of pashyos in the tara, where the tara is written. It's provided into small sections, basically you would say that it is being the parallel to paradise. And there are two kinds of stuma, two points, which is different way of writing them, and a stuma means close and two kinds open. So the fifth pasha is a tasha stuma, and the medish asks why, and this could be answer, a hyaluronic answer, that Jakob is dying, he's about to die, and when Jakob died, Mr. Luh, in the end, believe that the henta is for Ermich Nashibud, that when Jakob died, the eyes and the hearts of the Jews were closed, were sealed, because of the subjugation, in order, was the slavery in Egypt. So all the commentators ask, it's a very lovely idea, but it's not true, because else within the just states, that the actual enslavement and subjugation in Egypt did not begin until the last of the sons of Jakob, the last of the brothers died, which is more or less the implication of the version of the beginning of the satsnoth, that says that yamatya says to Cholohah, to Cholohah, who, he asks if in all his brothers died, in all of that generation, and then with the nays of, what will I do, but also there came many ends, and Jakob never had that from the time, and Luke King arose, and then the beginning of this agitation began. So since the subjugation in Egypt, not begin till after the last of the sons of Jakob died, Jakob and the medish said that the first section of the satsnoth is stuma, is closed, and Jakob died, the hearts and eyes of the Jews, the Jews in Egypt were closed, were locked up with field. The second meds gives a very, very interesting answer, and he says that it's true that the actual enslavement and up begin until the last of the sons of Jakob died, however, that's the physical enslavement, but spiritual enslavement began as soon as Jakob died. Let's have like a service, that's the kind of answer, what does it mean, spiritual enslavement? So the satsnoth explains, when Jakob died, the root that the sons of Jakob had in the experience and the teaching and the guidance of the akobo veno, of he was one of the four fathers who really ended, and they were left in Egypt, and then we got to pick in ourselves as living in Egypt, however, they weren't enslavement yet, they were living well, said the satsnoth sats precisely the situation I was talking about, because they were living in exile, they were living in Egypt, they were living in the land which is, whether they weren't hard enough, the land of bondage in exile and subjugation, but they think of it in well, because they're living in an explosion, they have their sheep, they have their prosperity, nobody's bothering them, and that's precisely what it means that their eyes and their hearts were sealed, if they were working hardly, we wouldn't say their eyes and their hearts were sealed, we'd say their bodies were broken, but the tasse is sealed, because when Jakob died, the vision and the understanding of the Jews, of the sons of Jakob and the children of Jakob became sealed off, that they only saw their external conditions, the wealth and the prosperity of their lives in Egypt, and were unaware of the sats that Jakob's death had indeed less than orphaned and divorced from the connection to the spiritual side or the spiritual front that they had originally had when they lived in exile, so that's the meaning of Gumbrith, that's the meaning of exile, the real spiritual meaning of exile is not necessarily oppression, of which they were of course in many years as well, but the permanent spiritual condition of exile is seeing how prosperous and how well us we're doing under the physical conditions that are permanent, and missing how dry, desiccated and divorced and cut off our lives are from the spiritual foundations that should, that should exist. Today we have the honor to suggest Sika, just this course, Sosa Baddai sai, al-Rivasi Siva, Malayna Hara al-Mishpinson, who will be giving a Sika, which is in honor of the beginning of our first, end of our first week of Karan Titai, and for Pasat Vaiya Sita, al-Rivasi, al-Rivasi. Last week, Pasat Vaiya Sitaash, we read that after meeting your sisters and brothers, sent them off to Erykon, back to meet Erykon, in the first year in ancient Egypt, Pasat sai (speaks in foreign language) It's not totally clear just what kind of work is we're talking about. It might be possible source and possible character. The fear, anxiety, turmoil, or some of the habits possibly with respect to accumulation, but the question would be responsible for this is, you know, the first place. Actually, it's like 70s, but the first records, (speaks in foreign language) source to this is a million times, a few hundred days. (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) And the moment it's a broader context, which is relevant to our hearing habits. And according to this, members of the lecture (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) It was saved from possible destruction because of (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) Otherwise, (speaks in foreign language) Clearly, the messages that people are walking together should indeed be fulfilled (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) It's a question of learning to repeat what is learned or to dictate wrong knowledge. That would be good, even if you were more barbaric. Then you need the analytical reps, this is the country we're engaging with, demanding a source of possible controversy, confrontation, distraction, division of interest. And so, that's the same. This is not advisory, and that's recommended by note. This is one of the sources (speaks in foreign language) which is very familiar with our own learning climate, and we see the vision between learning clearly and being. Let me give us an equivalent of cues. Really, (speaks in foreign language) we're asking this correspondence to determine which way is really unique. It's a big distinction for us, and it has times, expectations, even (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) and which are out of it. (speaks in foreign language) And we're really appreciates. If it's in the grass, then it's cues, and most superficial evidence, it's a lot of information, requisition of knowledge, especially the balance of one's knowledge, that's in general security, that's the carry, and that's the demand, and that's the challenging. So, whether the easy, that problem requires, and more comfortable, the secure climate of the home, and that's maybe done, perhaps you should be done, but then it's confined. It is carried on in those commodities, as a rather than some essential electricity union. The value of the nucleus is recognized, deploying to the real context of the mortgage located in other countries, people who have the ability to learn while traveling, that we sell a subject of possibly threats, wages, threats, et cetera, et cetera. This message should raise a risk, and not raise a time to save the insurance. (speaks in foreign language) But we need to concentrate the focus of what we're doing. What we're talking about says is driving, the attention can not be distracted, focused on the wave, but we can ask to acknowledge the gather information, let's say it's possible, and it's variable, requisite, and then the context of driving, the traveling, as well. The knowledge we require while on the move while traveling contributes to the expansive knowledge that we have, and affects its significance, whether it's a level of nucleus level in a year as well. And it seems very serious, but there are experiences, I understand, is that to learn the ink properly, instead of throwing infrastructure from base, hopefully an expensive base, from the mental knowledge, facts, concepts, ideas, which could be employed, applied, and released to be the first to learn. With respect, we only have a contribution to the quality of our learning, and to scope, (speaks in foreign language) However, it's significant in other respects as well. It's not only with respect to our cognitive approach, it's the experience of learning, but with regards to our essential involvement and engagement with regard to learning. At least in others, which we have from the youth, (speaks in foreign language) The two of you should describe to us if people have been with me or none of that, (speaks in foreign language) I quote, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) First shot and the face of the teacher, she will, and it's real to us from what is common to the smell of shabbos, (speaks in foreign language) With six questions that first was asked to you, and again, (speaks in foreign language) It's the first one from them correctly. In case of that, as she says, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) Now, this is intended not to minimize the significance of school learning, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) And maybe it will be, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) But conceptually and essentially, you could get into learning, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) It's the first shot. Second shot, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) And counting the first piece of advice I'm in line with another shot. And truth however, I think it is no contradiction here. It's too shocking. The fact that playing is weird, the person who could wait and do the mode. So it may be because it seems sort of rather bad then. It may be that we should engage, we haven't a spare time, we have to commit the spare obligation as well to direct to competing interests. But because something is just fixed, an integral part once a day, and there's an integral part of oneself. That's second shot. The way the alternative to be collecting material is leaving it in almost having such a matter of opportunity that we designate in the define as an integral part of what we need. To that we still prefer (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) But I want to manage within the limits of its commitments and its needs. First shot, (speaks in foreign language) establishes, doesn't relate to subjects more, but rather to what we should have a ceiling. And what this shot says in effect, both confine by defining, those limits by establishing bounds, not conceiving the sanitary area in which there's still a practical speaking over the whole day. (speaks in foreign language) which is consuming, which helps to define the totality of your existence in context to the teleportation commitment. So when it was engaged with the native left prebabere, in effect, particularly to do it regularly, they should have a circle in relation to him. In one hand, it's especially in the language that confine to particular context, to particular place, to particular linkers, especially just a specific period designated as such, even the way you argued, challenging the limits and values in your lower context, you've got a view, you've got a phone, still get in touch with commentary related to it, because it's part of what I'm telling you to total being. On the other hand, (speaks in foreign language) to it, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) But, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) could be regulated, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) - You have been listening to (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) We'd like to thank a lot for his welcoming message to KMTT and for the (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) - And now for the (speaks in foreign language) Yesterday in the (speaks in foreign language) I quoted the (speaks in foreign language) and (speaks in foreign language) he said (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) person who wishes to accept upon himself the fullness completely in person's affection. The oak of the heavenly kingdom should do the following five things. (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) He said (speaks in foreign language) should wash his hands, he should put on (speaks in foreign language) and then he says (speaks in foreign language) and (speaks in foreign language) Conspicuous in the absence from that list is something which I think we would and associated automatically with the idea of (speaks in foreign language) Among other things I said yesterday that putting on (speaks in foreign language) is like the uniform. The person said that he's a servant of God and wishes to serve God the king. So he has to dress in the (speaks in foreign language) and that's putting on the signs the regular uniform of the servant of the king which was (speaks in foreign language) I think all of us would have been up to us has written (speaks in foreign language) and (speaks in foreign language) and (speaks in foreign language) doesn't say that one should be written at (speaks in foreign language) I think the reason why it's left out is obvious. Interestingly enough, the (speaks in foreign language) has a parallel statement to that of (speaks in foreign language) about (speaks in foreign language) In other words, I quoted yesterday, the mother says specifically about (speaks in foreign language) that he who reads (speaks in foreign language) is not going to (speaks in foreign language) a good second to lead the verse in (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) and at the same time, not to have (speaks in foreign language) is like giving force testimony. That's what you notice, a special effort, not to say (speaks in foreign language) so these all have the same statement about (speaks in foreign language) that one who reads (speaks in foreign language) and is not wearing seats, (speaks in foreign language) then they eat a good second (speaks in foreign language) he's giving force testimony. The logic is clear. Just as there's a verse in (speaks in foreign language) it says that one must wear it full in and if you read it without wearing full in, you're basically being happy with it. Later on, the last section of (speaks in foreign language) is (speaks in foreign language) and you read a (speaks in foreign language) saying that you should have seats (speaks in foreign language) and not wearing seats, (speaks in foreign language) would be exactly the same thing. You call it a (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) is that it may eat a good second. But the (speaks in foreign language) doesn't mention seats, (speaks in foreign language) and I think there's a clear difference between (speaks in foreign language) namely that (speaks in foreign language) is indeed an obligation. A Jew with both the wear (speaks in foreign language) you tell it doesn't say when, (speaks in foreign language) say if you want to, (speaks in foreign language) with both the wear (speaks in foreign language) and therefore at least you should wear (speaks in foreign language) and reading (speaks in foreign language) but since you don't actually have to wear, you only have to wear seats (speaks in foreign language) if you had a garment that is abutated if you didn't, (speaks in foreign language) only a four-corner garment, (speaks in foreign language) or ancient times, (speaks in foreign language) your standard garment of a four-corner garment, when you went out, you took a cloak, and you asked yourself, (speaks in foreign language) a cloak of the rectangular piece of cloth, so you have to wear them in total. And that's called a (speaks in foreign language) so it's not a technically religious term, there's nothing to do with that, to be with some in which people will. Nowadays, nobody wears normally four-corner's garment. And therefore we basically invented, art officially a fourth-corner garment, which we call a (speaks in foreign language) and it's abut solely in (speaks in foreign language) in a synagogue, (speaks in foreign language) and it's derived the (speaks in foreign language) in which translation, (speaks in foreign language) so (speaks in foreign language) but that's not what the word (speaks in foreign language) it meant nearly a (speaks in foreign language) a cloak, (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) who says that in the (speaks in foreign language) as (speaks in foreign language) it says (speaks in foreign language) and it says (speaks in foreign language) for the generations. Yes, (speaks in foreign language) for the generations, (speaks in foreign language) for all generations, (speaks in foreign language) so the (speaks in foreign language) then maybe the (speaks in foreign language) is telling you that even when there'll be a time when you won't naturally or normally have a four-cornered garment and therefore you have no absolute obligation to put the six on any garment at all, you should do it anyhow. You should do what we do. Invent artificially construct a four-cornered garment to the other wise, (speaks in foreign language) and I say there, (speaks in foreign language) but strictly, (speaks in foreign language) in (speaks in foreign language) one doesn't have to wear a (speaks in foreign language) one has to wear a (speaks in foreign language) if one has a (speaks in foreign language) a four-cornered garment. One doesn't have to wear a (speaks in foreign language) I think that the mother is saying that she wants to accept the oath of heaven has to fulfill obligations, but she should, it's not an obligation. The mother, I teach it. It may not be obligatory, but it's still the way you should look more, more or less along the lines of the, of the average you have. I think it would be wise from the mother in the heart that describes (speaks in foreign language) when sometimes not my answer to it. It was hard. I was saying only light, light clothing which didn't require (speaks in foreign language) and (speaks in foreign language) so he said to (speaks in foreign language) "What's the problem?" He said, "You're not wearing scissors." He said, "But I don't have to wear scissors, not just obligation." (speaks in foreign language) The answer may answer. That is true, you're right. There is no clear if (speaks in foreign language) if you don't have the top of the garment. There are times of anger, the time of some sort of natural disaster when the attribute of justice is present in the world. There's a hurricane, there's a war. And people are being punished that the (speaks in foreign language) would be saved. If you're not wearing (speaks in foreign language) you won't be saved. In other words, it's not an obligation, but it's definitely a very good thing. And you can't get punished for it as a crime that doesn't mean you're going to be saved. You're not going to get a reward. You're not going to be picked out. There's been some special if you ignore it. So I do should have to sit at a time to use the idea which I've expressed, but it is a hammer expressed in the (speaks in foreign language) as a requirement to once you have to sit during (speaks in foreign language) Good, but again, the mud doesn't mention it. And there's another (speaks in foreign language) which I think is all the same, but during (speaks in foreign language) takes to sit in the hands. The lay development of it is, you should kiss to sit in. This is based on a (speaks in foreign language) my mum yet to quote a (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) The legend describes (speaks in foreign language) saying to God, you know, all of my (speaks in foreign language) and then there's a list of the different (speaks in foreign language) It says, for instance, my right hand prides (speaks in foreign language) (speaks in foreign language) and his right hand prides to sit in on. I think in my left hand holds to sit to my heart during (speaks in foreign language) So we have nothing to add to that. Apparently, there's no resource for this. I've not mentioned in any place in the (speaks in foreign language) but apparently there is a (speaks in foreign language) or some sort of a idea that wants to be holding with you to sit to one's heart during the recitation of (speaks in foreign language) Doesn't say during the leading of the (speaks in foreign language) at the end of (speaks in foreign language) It says during (speaks in foreign language) itself. The idea is to give it in a different way to make their own suggestion. I think the idea is that since the (speaks in foreign language) testing the (speaks in foreign language) to one's heart during the recitation, I mean, accepting the (speaks in foreign language) accepting the (speaks in foreign language) and demonstrating it in a testicle manner. At the base of this, I got my money out. One has, (speaks in foreign language) or should hold it to sit in one's hands, test the one's heart during the leading of (speaks in foreign language) Question, the right is how many sit to hold? The common way is to hold all four. However, there's a problem with that. The (speaks in foreign language) states that (speaks in foreign language) are normally worn to and present to in the back. It doesn't say in the (speaks in foreign language) any place that you have to do with them. But there's a (speaks in foreign language) that says that when someone was (speaks in foreign language) because there's two (speaks in foreign language) some kind of skin, most commonly, the (speaks in foreign language) have taken that to be a (speaks in foreign language) The law uses this idea that (speaks in foreign language) to exempt some (speaks in foreign language) a garment that indeed has four corners that go to all in the front. Which, in example, would be a jacket. A suit jacket, if the corner's not rounded off, you have two corners in the front and the bottom and two corners up on top where the collar is. And according to the (speaks in foreign language) the reason why you don't have a suit on your suit jacket is because it isn't two in the back to the front all four corners are in the front. So he takes this idea, expressed only very generally as well as a presented idea in (speaks in foreign language) and says, "No, it has to be that way." And it doesn't appear the way, there's no mitzvah. On that basis, the sentence can say you shouldn't take all sorts of suitings you have in the front of you. And it will be a heart because they didn't show you a knowing, you're undermining the way it's about all the suits itself. And therefore it will be better to simply hold two suits, respect against the idea of suits, to have sent you a heart and meet the other two behind. (speaks in foreign language) And other people say that you should only hold two. - We are a little bit rushed for time today and therefore we're going to have to end a little bit earlier than usual. I'd like to say Shabbat Shalom and Qotov, this is Azubic speaking from (speaks in foreign language) Uddhvah shaymi ushalayim. Shabbat shalom. [BLANK_AUDIO]
