This lecture discusses key ideas from the early Christian theologian John Chrysostom's Homily 16 on the Gospel of Matthew

This episode focuses specifically on his discussion of the old law of the Hebrew scriptures and the new law of the precepts given by Jesus in the Sermon on the Mount. Chrysostom argues against potential Jewish interlocutors that the new precepts effectively expand the old law, and against Manichaean (and other Gnostic) opponents that the old law is good.
