Garry provides an update on his progress and how he is overcoming recent challenges. Garry's training had a setback due to stitches in his left thigh, which led to an infection and hindered his progress for a while. However, he's back on track, running distances up to 20 kilometres, demonstrating his resilience and commitment to the race. He discusses the physical toll of long runs, noting that he needs a day or two to recover, but he remains hopeful that his body will adjust to the increasing demands. Garry emphasises the importance of pacing and listening to his body, especially as he gets closer to race day. Garry also touches on the mental aspects of training, preparing for the possibility of not finishing the race, and maintaining a positive outlook. He stresses the importance of celebrating the achievement of getting to the start line, regardless of the race outcome. As the holiday season has just passed, Garry talks about balancing training with family time and festivities. He managed to maintain his training routine, apart from Christmas Day, showing his ability to balance personal commitments with his athletic goals. Garry's approach to training includes practicing with all his gear, including nutrition and hydration, to ensure everything works well on race day. He shares insights on the importance of being familiar with your equipment and nutrition plan during long runs.
