The FitMIND FitBODY Podcast

Episode 166 - Running behind a wheel-chair has opened up a whole new world for Kylee and Veronika.

In this episode Kylee Davie shares her inspiring journey with daughter Veronika.  14 years ago Veronika was born with a number of conditions, including downs syndrome and cerebral palsy, which propelled Kylee into a carers role.  After a shoulder injury it became apparent that in order to help Veronika, Kylee would need to start taking care of herself physically (as well as mentally)! Kylee found running in 2018 as a result of Veronika encouraging her mum to “go faster” when pushing her in their regular wheelchair walks (while she was receiving from hip surgery). Since then Kylee and Veronica have become regular participants in ParkRun and various fun runs around Tassie - making it a wonderful activity they can share.Running helps Kylee stay mentally alert and physically strong as well as providing her time to clear her head.  For Veronica it provides an opportunity to be involved, to get outside and to enjoy an activity with her mum. On top of being Veronika’s carer Kylee is also mum to two boys and is studying to be a primary school teacher - think about that next time you tell yourself you don’t have time to go for a run :)Just like Jack (mentioned in the podcast) - https://justlikejack.com.au/ Kylee’s Tips - Just do it (do what ever you’re comfortable with), get good shoes, find a run group and go to ParkRun (walk/run). https://fitmindfitbody.co/podcast/
