The FitMIND FitBODY Podcast

Episode 118 - From Penny Farthing bike racing to marathon running…

In this episode of the podcast hard working ICU nurse Nicole Woodfield shares her inspiring running journey with us.  As a young person hockey was Nicole’s sport and then came Penny Farthing racing which is fascinating for a number of reasons including the fact that she is not very tall :)  Unfortunately Nicole had to give up Penny Farthing racing because she was diagnosed with cancer and needed to spend money and time recovering.   It wasn’t until years later when Nicole was nursing and dealing with a lot of stress at work that a work colleague suggested she start running as a way to relieve stress!  That was 6 years ago and she’s been running ever since, and loving it.    Running has given Nicole a feeling of empowerment and control over her life that she didn’t necessarily feel before.  On top of that the friends she’s made through running have been an incredible support as she continues to deal with health issues (and life in general).   Nicole ’s Running Tips - Get a well fitted pair of shoes (and socks) and then if you know Nicole, she likes to take her friends to a quiet place to start running, a little at a time - walking 100mts/running 100mts.  Run with people who have a similar outlook on life.    https://fitmindfitbody.co/podcast/
