Today is Russell Wilson day, because Russell Wilson is visiting the New York football giants. And think about this for a second. We're talking about a Super Bowl champion. We're talking about a guy that's been to multiple Super Bowls. We're talking about a guy who years after his career is over will at least be discussed as a Hall of Famer. And he's coming into your building today. Do you lock that door and make sure he doesn't leave? Not necessarily. I think Russell Wilson is interesting only because of what you just said, Evan. He has had a lot of success in his career. And there was points where we thought he was shoeing Hall of Famer. Yes. I mean, he won Super Bowls. He went to another. If it wasn't for, I don't know whose play call it was, handing it off at the goal, or trying to throw it at the goal line, as opposed to handing it off to March on lance, he'd be a two time Super Bowl champion. And they felt like, God, this guy can do anything, throws these deep, like, moon balls that somehow always land on target. And eventually it just seemed like all of that petered out. It's like he wanted to become more of a pocket passer and more of a MVP type quarterback candidate and it derailed his career. And over the last four years, he's left a lot to be desired as a quarterback. But he still is a Super Bowl champion and has a history of winning even in even in even in Pittsburgh last year. Well, that's what I'm going to bring up to you because maybe I'm being too simplistic here. Maybe I haven't watched enough tape, which I haven't, I'm not going to lie to you. I haven't watched Denver Bronco and Stealer tape, but I see a guy who, while he's getting up there in age over the last two seasons, he's gone out and not that his team has been elite, but he won seven games in Denver. Last year he was six and five after replacing Justin Fields and he continues something he did early in his career, which doesn't turn the ball over. Russell Wilson is not James Winston. He doesn't turn the ball over. So you look at his stats over the last two years in Denver in Pittsburgh. He's done 32 touchdown passes. He's done 13 interceptions. He's basically 500. Now, that's not all him, obviously. He's also quarterbacking 18, but I see that. And while he's not the guy he was, or at least the guy we thought he was a decade ago, that still seems like a major upgrade. And it still seems like something that would stabilize the New York football, and it might, I think the thing you worry about is what happens if he truly falls off the cliff, right? Because it felt it feels like he's hanging on, you know, not like ascending, definitely not ascending, not like stable, just kind of the same player every year. It's like he's hanging on to being good. And at some point it happens to everybody, by the way, it's whether it's age or injury or whatever, you just, you just lose the ability to hang on and you fall and you stink. And I don't want that to happen with the New York Giants because it's felt, it's felt like it's happening the last four years. It hasn't, but it felt like he's hanging on to being a good player. Well, that may be the case. What wouldn't worry me is I think the Giants plan, and it would certainly be my plan. And I think this is what the Giants are doing is they're adding a veteran quarterback and they're going to drive someone, whether it's at three or it's in the second round, they're bringing a young man into the room with Russell Wilson, with Tommy DeVito that they're hoping to develop. And the worst case scenario that you're right, that this hanging before he falls off the cliff, if that occurs, he gets replaced. Yeah. Like he's a bridge. But is that solving what the Giants need right now? Is any veteran quarterback out there solving their issue was really going to solve their issues developing? The only one is, is er, I don't think he's because it feels like it, at least he's like he's not done done. I feel, I don't, sometimes I just look at, I watch Russell Wilson and I say to myself, this guy is just done. And I guess if he comes to the Giants, you'd find the beauty in it, right? You say, this is what he can provide. Well, his fans don't know of the choice. Maybe, but I mean, there are other choices, obviously. No, no. I mean, if they sign him, right? We yell, we scream, we're mad, and then after five days you're like, all right, I got to rationalize this crap. Exactly. If you don't like them, obviously. Yeah, but, but at the same time, you do know that he has history of winning and as corny as he may be at times, he's sending the right message. It's not like he's corny and being a jerk. He's being quite positive. Okay. So let me ask you this about the corny stuff and we will address the corny stuff because coming up a little bit later on and I'll guarantee it here in this two o'clock hour, we've compiled a list of the corny as stuff Russell Wilson has ever done. But does that really, other than us having a laugh and us, you're joking about it and people making fun of it on social media, does the corny stuff hurt a room and is it more distracting than any of the other quote unquote distractions that say Aaron Rodgers brings? Only, only if he's bad and he hasn't been bad. Right. It's only, it only becomes an issue if he's bad quarterback and then it that making fun of him becomes like mocking and making fun of and mocking are two different things. And so that's the last thing you want because it just creates a divide. So that's like, I'm trying to think if I've ever had this kind of player in my locker. Yeah, if you had a cringe teammate, I don't think so because you usually don't, they're usually not good. So they don't last. Right. Right. You know what I mean? So they're just kind of gone and I don't know if they don't, they don't belong. So they don't last, but Russ is, he's lasted. I also think and there's something to that by the way, and I, this is the way I look at Russell Wilson and the way I look at Aaron Rodgers. So I think most of us would agree if you're looking for that short term success while you're developing a young quarterback, those two guys give you a much better chance than any of the other veterans out there. No doubt. Like the Giants met with Joe Flacko yesterday. Give me a freaking break. I've seen Joe Flacko. We've all seen Joe Flacko Joe Flacko is not helping you win games in the short term. The way a Russell Wilson can and the way Aaron Rodgers can. I believe that Aaron Rodgers is much as you tell him, hey, you're coming here. We want to win, but let's see where the season goes. We are drafting someone or we're likely to draft somebody. We may replace you. I think Aaron Rodgers is going to have a harder time facing that reality than Russell Wilson. And the reason I think that is because Russell Wilson is a journeyman now. Yeah. Like he was in Denver. It didn't work. They benched him while they still sort of had a chance for salary cap and injury related reasons. He goes to Pittsburgh where at first we thought they weren't playing him right away because well, let me see if we got more out of Justin Fierce and then they finally go to Russell Wilson and now Ross is in Cleveland. He's going to meet with the Giants today. It feels like he's actually at a different part of his career than Rodgers is in which benching him is actually going to be easier than benching Aaron off because Aaron, we still don't know like how he's perceived. We know that he had injury filled seasons over the last couple of years, but we don't know like what an organization thinks about him. I think we know what an organization thinks about Russell Wilson because because multiple of them have gotten rid of him. Multiple teams have gotten rid of him. And also, let's think about the current marketplace for Russell Wilson and Aaron Rodgers. In the case of Aaron Rodgers, the Steelers are clearly interested. The Giants are clearly interested and as reported by numerous people, including Albert Breer and lately Diana Rucini, the Vikings are considering it and Rodgers would welcome going to Minnesota. Yes. So think about the teams that are interested in Aaron Rodgers, a team from the playoffs last year in the Pittsburgh Steelers with one of the great coaches in the sport who just made a trade from DK Maccalfe. Yep. They're trying to win. They're trying to win. The Steelers are trying to win. You see it and what they've done in there in the off season. And they were a playoff team last year. Team number two, interested in Aaron Rodgers, potentially the Minnesota Vikings, a team that won a hell of a lot of games last year until it came crashing down at the end with Sam Darnell. Again, another team Toronto win and then you got the Giants. The Cleveland Browns are the only linked team right now to Russell Wilson. Now, the Steelers may be treating them as a backup plan in case they fail on Rodgers. Yes. So the marketplace is telling you how they view Russ versus Aaron Rodgers, which would tell me, because again, my view is, and I think most trans fans agree with this, you're drafting a young quarterback. This is the veteran who's going to hold the fort down, maybe quarterback the entire year. If you guys have success, can't rule it out, but you are drafting a young quarterback who may replace Wilson is more at the point in his career in which he's replaceable than Aaron Rodgers. Yeah. It's almost an easier transition if it just doesn't feel right. Now if he's winning games, you just roll with them. You let the young kids sit. It is what it is. Whoever that young player is, you're not worried about them. Right. And I think all of these kids coming out this year, whether it's the top of the quarterback class or the middle or even the bot, they all need, they all need work, right? They all will benefit from, from, from sitting and learning. Now if they happen to surprise the hell out of you and OTAs and mini camp and, and training camp and they end up starting over, whoever a veteran you signed, fine. That's a great thing. And you know what's funny? Think about Russell Wilson's really, really, really, really beginning of his career. Yes. What about that? Exactly that. Because the Seattle Seahawks signed a veteran free aging quarterback, Matt Flynn, Matt Flynn, who was coming off for like 30 seconds of success. Yeah, he had like half a game. And Seattle was like, we'll give you a lot of money. And Russell Wilson was drafted, not the first round and was so impressive in camp that he took the job. So I think Russell Wilson eyes wide open, especially at this point of his career, has to understand that situation could happen with the Giants. The best case scenario for the Giants is that they bring in a veteran, whether it's Wilson or Rogers, they draft a young quarterback, and they win games. And the vision that some of the optimistic giant fans have, I heard Peter Schrager say this the other day, and he's not a giant fan, he's just an analyst. He said, hey, I think the Giants have a really talented roster. I think they're a quarterback away. Now I don't share that view. You clearly, you don't base on that reaction. I think there's depth issues. I think they're, each right though, it's a talented roster. You look at some of the positions, you know, like, all right, these two kids, they drafted in the secondary last year, they're pretty damn good, right? They're defensive front. It's pretty damn good, right? With Dexter Lawrence and Rakeem and all those other guys, linebacker, Michael McFadden's pretty good. Right. Right. Offensive, they got one of the best wide receivers in football. They got a good running back who they kind of stole late in the draft. Offensive line, they haven't all pro at one of their, you know, positions, but it's just, it's the depth. Like, the glue in between the big pieces, that's not there yet. Well, and that matters because we saw what happened last year when Andrew Thomas went down in the offensive line crumbled, but I think the best case scenario is that view is correct. And the Giants at a veteran quarterback, he doesn't play like an MVP. People plays well enough. Right. And the Giants win eight or nine games. And we're sitting here in January, maybe talking about a playoff game, we're talking about what was a fun, successful season. And then you're thinking to yourself, oh, we got that young kid waiting. Yeah. That's your door, Sanders. He hasn't played at all. But man, I'm so ready. Gables, proven he could coach, Shane's proven he can find some talent. And that is the best case scenario. And by the way, you're saying the body of the veteran, you say in a Rosa Wilson, Aaron Rodgers, thank you. You gave us a quality year. Right. Well, you appreciate it. See you later. Now the new era begins. The current one or the current one or situation. I would say better than current one or because you actually complete the year with a veteran and right, right, right, right. Right. No, you're absolutely right. But at the worst case is that it's a current one or situation, you know what I mean? Or you're just, it's probably as we were good. But you know what I mean? No, the worst case is whoever the veteran is, here's honestly the worst case. I'll lay out the worst case. That veteran gets hurt immediately. That's the worst case. Yeah. And then you have to play and then either you're playing a young guy who's not ready or you're playing a Tommy DeVito or Joe Flacco type and you're headed to just a bunch of losses. Yeah. Where the coach is probably gone, the GM is probably gone and the young guy is not being developed. Right. There's no, there's no advancement. Right. There's no wall season. Right. And if that happens, everybody loses their job. You're right about that. You need to do two things at the same time. Win a few games and develop a future quarterback. Right. Can you do that with that kid sitting and watching a veteran like Aaron Rodgers or Russell Wilson? I think you can. Yeah. I think it's necessary. Again, we might get lucky because whoever the young quarterback is, he could turn out to be like CJ. I'm not saying you got to draft the guy in the top three and that's the only way he becomes CJ. You can draft a kid in the second round and just get lucky and hope that you develop in the right way. You put him in the right positions where it's not complicated for him. It feels comfortable and easy for him. But the likelihood of that happening is it's rare. We don't see it very often. Yeah. I mean, you can go back half a decade and look at all these first round quarterbacks, especially those guys that started right away. I don't don't pan out, man. Yeah. And so it's just a handful. Some of them get resurrection stories like Baker Mayfield. But very few of them turn out to be good. So it's a crapshoot no matter how you look at it. The other gamble that the Giants are taking, and I'm just using my brain thinking about this with Aaron Rodgers and Russell Wilson being in the room today with them, is that all the evidence is there that Aaron Rodgers is not serious about signing with the New York Giants. No, you're right. The evidence is there. It feels like he wants to sign with the Vikings. Or he's considering retirement. And I think that right now, if we're being honest, if we're just being honest or reading the tea leaves on this, it feels like the Giants are being used in regards to Aaron Rodgers. So you've got two choices. Which, by the way, it's exactly what happened, not the same situation, but they also got used by Matt Stafford. Absolutely. They did. And I think we knew it at the time, but we realized no harm, no foul. Right. Because nothing was changing while you were being used. He wasn't actually available. Right. You had to trade for him to get him, not like he's sitting on the free market. And then your decision to offer him, whatever you're going to offer him, is going to influence him. Right. That's not what was happening. He was just trying to get more money from the Rams. Right. So in the case of Aaron Rodgers, if you determine, if you come to the conclusion, I'm coming towards and a lot of people coming towards that, you know what, this Rodgers thing, he's using you. I'd like them on the team, but I just don't see it happening. Then maybe today, while you're meeting with Russell Wilson, you just get the deal done with him. Because if you let Russ leave and he signs elsewhere, there is a huge drop off when it comes to the veteran quarterback that you could bring in. Huge drop off. Right. So that's the decision you got to make. If you're the Giants and if you're a Giant fan, you continue to play the game with Rodgers and weight because this way could take a while and there's no guarantee Russell Wilson's just going to sit around and wait for you. So do you wait, or do you say screw it, Russell Wilson is a Super Bowl winning quarterback as corning as he may be. Russell Wilson did have a somewhat okay season last year and won some games more than the Giants did last year. Let's just get this deal done. Because I also think if the Giants offered Russell Wilson a contract today, I think he signs it. Yeah, but I don't, I don't know if they should that's because you want Rodgers because you don't want Ross a little bit of both, a little bit of both like is it Joe Shane and Brian Dable like selling themselves to Russell Wilson didn't they do that last year they met with them last year met with them last year. They probably have a familiarity with them already. So I think it's just gauge interest and go over plan, right. Think about talk about offensive schemes and maybe I don't know I think it's I we never had to do this back in the day. It wasn't like you'd traveled in free agency and met with teams. You just your agent did all that right and it was just it was more of a of a financial conversation as opposed to a well how do we fit right do we work well together it was something interesting actually Paul Goldschmidt said earlier this week when we had him on talking about his free agency and he was honest he was like yeah it was a one year deal it was just my agent talking to them like it was like just an offer yeah there's no recruitment I guess on these short term deals for certain players but when you're trying to sign Juan Soto it's different right yeah especially especially because you're you're marrying him for a decade and a half right and so it's like this better work personality wise like we better be on the same page emotionally and and and conceptually otherwise this is going to be an ugly 15 years yeah the way I envisioned a meeting last year with Russell Wilson was the giant saying here's a situation like Daniel Jones is here there'll be a competition you will have a even shot to win it or whatever their actual plan was and just let them know the deal because you don't want a guy in here who's blindsided by the situation yeah but I don't think that was the case I don't he wasn't you're going to get a chance to win the job I think last year they told him you're the backup you're the backup Daniel Jones is playing and that's why he said no thanks that's why I said exactly now this year where I can compete for the starting job now this year you assume they are telling him and they should be telling him hey Russ you have a great chance to start but we are going to draft a young quarterback and see what happens yeah and it's it'll be an open competition but we're not pre-determining who our starter is a year ago they were pre-determining who their starter do you take Russ out to dinner or do you just walk around the facility with him how do you handle that I don't know like what would you want if you were at that point if I was Russ yes but you want lunch it depends on how well I know Dave's because if I don't know him I want to get the no so you need the lunch lunch or something and they better pay for it I'm of course I know Russ has made a lot of money just have it right at the facility yeah that's that would be good enough they have good chefs there I'm sure the chefs are wonderful but it doesn't feel special yeah but why do you need to go out to lunch because you're Russ and Wilson you want those pictures taken you're checking pictures out there you're like I want pictures out there it's their second date so you figure first date is putt putt ice cream yes now the second day steak dinner I'm going to press them how often do you have a date that's separated by a full year yeah that's true that's the awkward one how much have you changed in a year do I still want you let's get to some of your calls Rick is in Long Valley how are you Rick good how are you guys good um first off I just want to say hickey I'm a huge fan also big fan of you Evan hickey I read your book kick off and I was really young and I wore 21 because of you oh nice it can be cool appreciate you Rick I just can um but I just have a quick point about the Giants and what I would would do if I were the GM um I really like Joe Flacco as a person and as a leader um I wouldn't bring him in to start the whole season I'd bring him in to start maybe four or five games I love Cam Ward as a prospect I'd do whatever I can to get Cam Ward bringing Joe Flacco to mentor maybe show him the ropes the first few games and then just have Joe Flacco with him in the film room the practice field and just with him the whole time on the sideline everything he kind of did it with Lamar so I feel like you would just be I know it's a little different than what you guys are thinking but yeah I challenge with with Joe is I think Joe thinks he still can play or be a starter in this league I know he can still play because you saw it in some of the games but I think he still wants to be the starter and so I'm not saying he did that with Lamar it was more it was more Lamar kind of became the better option for them yeah I mean he was already there he was their Eli Manning yeah think about it yeah exactly he just kind of became the you're you're a placeholder and everybody knew it Rick's idea is not a bad one here's why I haven't suggested it here's why a lot of people haven't suggested it because we are under the impression based on the words of the owner when the season ended that they got to win some games and so you look at this giant season at least I do as a juggle and that juggle is between winning games competing to a degree in the NFC while also developing a young quarterback yeah let's be honest about Joe Flacco you went winning a damn thing so you're not juggling anything Joe Flacco is just your typical veteran who's going to hold a fort down for a few weeks until that young player is ready but the odds are high that you're not winning enough games and the owner made it pretty clear when the season ended I want to see some victories so if this was a first year regime yeah I would probably say sure makes a lot of sense and it's it's so hard to think about what's going to work best for the Giants with the with this veteran I mean the rookie it is who it is it doesn't matter whoever you're able to get I think as Rick just said they're going to do everything they can to try to get cam wort right they're going to try to go to one right but Tennessee's got a got to dance with them right if that doesn't happen they'll sit there three if both quarterbacks are gone they'll take best available take someone else later in the round but from this for this veteran quarterback position it's really hard to know which one is going to be best because Russ wants to play wants to be a starter Russ is better than Joe Flacco though definitely Joe Flacco also wants to play right and be a starter and Rogers wants to try to get a team to the postseason and see how he can enhance his legacy so none of these guys fit the bill of what we're talking about they're going to do with the young quarterback but don't you think like they'll do it via just just because they're around right you know because they don't have any other choice I think back to Kurt Warner you tell me I don't know if you ever had this discussion when he was there but I'm sure he thought to himself and he turned out to be right because he got to the Super Bowl a few years later I could still play on the starter he did but anyone but I think but I think he absolutely understood the assignment mmm when he when he came to the Giants that is Eli we're we need to get Eli Manning up to snuff so you're going to help us do that right you're going to play but eventually we're handing the rock literally to Eli and that's what that's exactly what happened even though we had a winning record at that time wasn't about Kurt get us to the postseason and Kurt win for us it was Kurt developed Eli and so it's hard to tell that some of these older veterans to do that because they still think they can play right until they don't want to do it yeah well at this point their careers I don't have choices like Aaron Rodgers may have the choices I don't think Russell Wilson does no I think you're right just because he's he's been jettisoned each of the last years let's go to Jim and Saratoga Springs what's up Jim you guys doing what's up man thank you just my opinion on I personally I don't want anything to do with Aaron Rodgers I think he's a diva will distract from the team he's all about himself I like Russell Wilson he's a competitor he's a winner yeah I think he'll I think he'll perform I'm listening to you guys kind of funny because I had caught something on rails and they had Eli Manning and his two super ball runs in the playoffs and it was good to see giant football with that offense and that defense we got to get back and I think Shane did a pretty good job at some of the free agents signing to just that and I hope he because he kind of got his buck kick last year and his arrogance kind of got to him so hopefully he you make some better decisions this year right no I think that's all I got no I appreciate you Jim and you're right I mean I think Joe Shane's draft was really good it's it's it was and free agency was actually pretty good it was injuries and not having enough depth they didn't end up coming back the whole I've realized about GM's and it's complicated so you're right like no matter what you say about Joe Shane you look at last year's draft and you say that was a good draft yeah but I unfortunately did that a lot with Joe Douglass where I'd say hey they had a good draft or they had a generational draft or right I like this free agent signing qualifying at all well all the individual moves when you added it up were like wow that was a pretty good general manager but at the end of the day you got to win games right and so what I even to this day with Joe Douglass being gone when you ask me like what kind of GM was Joe Douglass it's not fair to say oh he sucked he was John Isaac because he wasn't now you look at the individual moves and they were good so I bring this back to shame Joe Shane has made a lot of good individual moves but at the end of the day in this business you have to win games right they didn't win enough games last year they have to win games this year if it doesn't happen even if we're talking about this draft being a good draft it's not going to be enough to save him just like it ultimately wasn't enough to save Joe Douglass and ultimately what did in Joe Douglass as a small business owner my favorite thing about posting a job on LinkedIn is comes down to that and so far Joe Shane hasn't even taken a shot at a quarterback because the only one has really been Daniel Jones yeah yeah and so you end up you end up having your career in this case Joe Shane defined by a guy you didn't draft right and I don't even I mean I guess they wanted them because he was good and they ultimately signed them but I think that signing was influenced by Daniel Jones's history here and with the mirrors and so it just it would suck to get for him to get fired and never have a chance to have drafted his own guy well think about that position but think about what we're laying out here signing a veteran quarterback potentially drafting a young quarterback right but if they don't win enough games they may be gone before we ever know if the young quarterback is the right guy or not yeah I know and that's the crazy thing about this let's go to Evan and Astoria what's up Evan hey what's going on guys Evan I got to happen listen to those seven big fan man appreciate him man thank you and and Jake yeah I got the flight say when I think about the quarterback I want to say I was one of those giant fan haters for a long time they never really heard your side of the story about your retirement everything like that and you I really got I got to hear that from you I'm pretty sure the radio I appreciate you dude yeah yeah there's a lot of guys I tell you there's a lot of fans like that that didn't hear your side and probably were misinformed about things and I'm glad I'm glad they're appreciate to dude yeah also listen he's there as a giant guy in my entire life we've been just been watching such a guy we are hard for placement division just to watch it just game don't play scared the end of your life's career Joe Flacco come in with the very long salary credit to other options and dude just let it sway but reckless abandon just go for it I would we are so sorry for fun right there well Evan let me interrupt you and give you a scenario because Joe Flacco it's crazy as it sounds was a lot like James Winston last year and he threw a lot of interceptions in the short amount of time he filled in for Anthony Richardson so wouldn't you rather have James Winston who has a little bit more upside I was gonna say I'm serious I mean here's question yeah you know what you're not Wow he's the other so well I mean Joe Flacco is a freaking statue right here offensive line is in stellar right he's gonna get killed back there and that's kind of what happened last year with with Indy and you know watching tape on him it was like he was he was stuck and if he got off his first read he wasn't moving so he just he would just let the ball go to avoid getting hit right and you know what I mean and he put the ball in harm's way I think it was a couple of three plus interception games that he had when he was filling in for Anthony Richardson and so if he's gonna if you're gonna have a quarterback is gonna do that don't you want the upside of a guy possibly throwing for 400 yards is what I want to know I'm serious a James Winston I get it so if you're gonna say give me Joe Flacco you might as well say give me James Winston what I'm curious about and I can't answer this because I am not a giant season ticket holder nor am I a customer but if they signed Aaron Rodgers James Winston Russell Wilson Joe Flacco or any of those guys to the giant fan out there making you go out and buy a ticket I'm curious maybe Aaron Rodgers I mean he is Aaron Rodgers he's a Hall of Famer but for all the people that call in about Winston and I get it he's got a great personality he can be exciting he'll take shots down the field he'll turn the ball over I think buying a ticket to see him yeah I think really I would wow because he it's frustrating as hell but it is it is really entertaining I don't know if you I don't know how many of those games you watched last year not a lot but I end up watching some of them yeah it's just it's just wild dude right the throws are just don't do that oh wow I said 70 yard play oh man what do you do interception picks it's just like you're on the edge of your seat and if you're if he's on your team it's like you you scream and MF him in one second and you're praising the hell out of him the next second and then after the game you're entertained because he's like deliver me oh lord deliver me from six six six it's like what the hell are you talking about now famous Winston certainly has the edge on entertainment value but Russell Wilson takes a lot of he's trading his board of cringiness we got some baseball news number one Sean Maniah's MRI came back clean over the last few days and without us knowing he's been throwing again and so basically spring training has restarted for Sean Maniah that's a best-case scenario so there's certainly a chance we'll see him in the middle of April and he'll be ready to go now if you recall I was blamed as being a jinx because when Carlos Mendoza joined our show he was on our show and I said to him are you ready to announce Sean Maniah as the opening day starter and he said listen we got a lot of time before opening day it's too soon and obviously Sean got hurt well we are now less than two weeks away until opening day so it is finally time for Carlos Mendoza to announce an opening day starter we're about to hear from the manager but before we do tiki barber any guesses on who is getting the nod to start opening day for the New York Mets I'm going to say it is Kodai Senga he is going with Kodai Senga who by the way is scheduled to pitch tonight in a spring training game on SNY which is why we'll be on tv a little bit earlier today between 3 30 and 5 30 well Carlos Mendoza the floor is your sir oh my god and Senga is not like Senga Senga is like just third or something yeah we'll see where we are you know he's got a pitch today we'll you know let's go one outing at a time play homes you know he earned it you earned it we like what we're seeing you know I know it's a small sample size here but he's very encouraging he really put himself in a really good position shut up here early in camp you know like he he was ahead of everyone but again I think he's more like the way he's looked so far making that transition and we're comfortable with him so there you go I should have said clay homes I don't know why I didn't say clay homes I'm surprised last week I said he's going to win the Cy Young why did I not you know why I didn't why because I think like Aaron Boone like how does this line up see where is he at right now with opening day two weeks away how does this line up oh how do the days fall rather than days fall we just tell in speaking of that think how different Aaron Boone is from Carlos Mendoza they've worked on the same staff for a long time yeah Aaron Boone gives us a bunch of nonsense about non-answers right non-answers nonsense when I ask about who's going to be the opening day starter based on where a guy lines up and you know what's what's his pitching days like and we'll see how this thing times his way out where his causeman does is like clay homes he earned it he's a stud he's awesome he deserves to be the opening days that's like dude that that part of it because I look there is a lot of shock factor to this and despite how good clay homes has pitched in spring training which has been exceptional he's been great he's been great but let's take a step back for a second if I would have told you six months ago that Yankee's closer oh and he lost his closers yes Yankee reliever clay homes is going to sign with the Mets as a starting pitcher and then he's gonna pitch on opening day right you would have thought I had ten heads right and he earned pitching it's not like yeah there was an injury in the way that things lined up he just happens to be the starter that's going to fall in line for opening day call us Mendoza is saying he was the best pitcher we have in camp well when you look at spring training and obviously look shamanize injury did impact it but it was so early on in spring who knows who knows what his plan was for opening day I tried to get it out of him three weeks ago he didn't give us an answer but you look at the amount of innings David Peterson's throne Kodai Sanga's throne Paul Blackburn Griffin canning and clay homes and you forget their resumes just forget their resumes you just look at what they've done in spring training he's right yeah clay homes has earned it now I don't know if that's the number one reason he's given them the opening day start but when he says he earned it if you look at the way he's performed in spring training he has and maybe it's also a message to clay clay homes is trying a big career change this year yeah it's a good point and so here's Mendoza saying you know what buddy I'm gonna give you opening day I'm gonna empower you I'm gonna empower you you're gonna be matched up with the other races in this case from Berwaldes and you're getting the opening day start and for any met fan or Yankee fan who wants to mock the Mets I'm going to be consistent about this because we talked about this a few days ago with the Yankees opening day is symbolism it doesn't mean anything other than that right so my reaction to clay homes starting opening day okay great like it doesn't affect me one way or the other because it doesn't mean anything yeah well i mean maybe something in the short term for clay it's an accomplice bouncing as a fan it doesn't mean anything i would argue against that though i would say it does mean something it means that Carlos Mendoza might be saying clay homes i want you to be our ace yeah but i don't look at it that way i know but i'm not saying that he's you are but maybe he is well because he said he's earned it i mean it was there was very little ambiguity about how he felt about clay homes right like now maybe he's just blowing smoke just to make him feel good right make clay homes feel empowered as you mentioned a little bit earlier but maybe he actually feels that we started opening day for the Mets last year i don't even know Tommy do you remember of course not of course no i don't know let me think for a second i don't remember things like is it seven oh no severino it was and how could we forget it was uh what's his face with the guy yet no you know the guy no come on tik we had launched it on the other day come on you don't remember somebody feed me this please it was uh i'm not feeding anybody i know the answer i want to see if you guys remember it's beyond obvious at this point just tell me is no idea no one will lead us on his no idea the point is not to make anyone look bad it's the point that it's not memorable who was it Jose Quintana oh but my point is all right let's take this back further 2022 a year why okay so i'll stop why what why was it Jose Quintana last year well should it have been exactly that's the point who should have started coming into the season last year the entire rotation was new he was the only guy coming back he was the veteran so there wasn't a symbolism there wasn't an he earned it no it wasn't like he just said we're going to be honest with you so the only time to me in my lifetime that this does matter there's a symbolism to it is when it is a true true ace so Jacob to grum matter to me right Dwight Eugene Gooden mattered to me yeah i think but Garrett Cole Garrett Cole's an unquestioned ace when he's healthy he's the opening day starter and i can see why that would matter to you but i think when you're dealing with kind of this new met world that we're living in and really ever since Jake left because even with Scherzer and Verlander i was like i don't know i don't care i don't care and they're not who they used to be anyway yeah so i didn't even care then when they were debating between Verlander and Scherzer do you guys remember who started that opening day i actually don't because i think they both got hurt verlander definitely got hurt but he got hurt on opening day so he wasn't the opening day starter he's definitely that verlander didn't pitch to like a month later i think it was max i think it was max and the year before that 2022 year started opening day no Tyler McGill yeah i actually do remember that so when there isn't an obvious sky and i love kodai sangha don't get me wrong kodai was great in 2023 he hasn't earned that yet either so i kind of look at opening day is it's just not moving me on that kind of honor now as far as clay's concern congrats to him i want to warn my fellow met fans about something tommy already probably feels it the met fan is gonna get mocked mercifully by the Yankee fan why clay homes are starting to open day well there's a rotation but i think he's actually gonna do very well i think he's gonna do well as well but that's not gonna stop the Yankee fan from mocking clay homes pitching on opening day well they can mock him but they if they're wrong because he pitches i don't know six innings and gives up one run then then who's mocking well look if clay has a great year tommy gets the ultimate victory because remember he has that bet with shawn morash who's gonna have a better year uh clay homes versus max freed and if you ever won that one that's that's a huge win because it was so like crazy to even suggest at the time yeah and you got a long way to go you haven't done anything yet i mean the season hasn't started and we're not looking at spring training as any kind of a factor but yeah if clay is a great year met fans will get the last left i'm just warning the met fan that as this news trickles out that clay homes is the Mets opening day starter in fact i haven't even looked yet i'm about to check this is my test i'm going to check the twitter feed of my co-worker keith mcfierson do you think he has trolled the Mets about clay homes no 14 seconds ago km to am he retweets fan clay homes is the opening day starter yeah and keith's tweet is many predicted this on brand oh that's a mocking he's why is that mocking i mean what does that mean that on your brand yeah on brand means it's on brand for the Mets to have to take the opening they start take a Yankee and then try to i don't know elevate him so is that tom just like sevy last year tommy is this not a mind by the way he's every right to do it i'm just warning med fans that Yankee fans are going to do it so i appreciate that keith without even getting a signal from me is already playing along with this but that is a mocking yeah this is my thinking if i'm thinking like keith here couple weeks to opening day this is like his on a scale of one to ten ten being the highest troll this is five and you build up to ten for opening day you don't want to give your ten here today you build it off but this is this is a troll and all i'm saying is keith is going to represent a lot of Yankee fans we're going to take this opportunity that clay homes has been announced as the opening day starter to mock the Mets and med fans now i will help you out with this you could just chuckle and say yeah who cares because at the end of the day the results are going to determine this clay homes has to go out and have a good year and i'm with you tiki i've gained confidence that's why we're making that clay home sai young bet yes but so far he hasn't done anything as great as his spring training has been tommy doesn't even want spring training so you can't count it for clay homes and not talented for everything else that's happened so you're disqualified from counting spring training all i know is clay homes is the opening day starter and max free does not so it says one nothing movie in the first inning and he's been lights out and i don't watch spring training but i do see the highlights on social media then they look good though he is right it is one nothing though because max free does not picture but it danny clay but again it did it doesn't matter so now it really doesn't you can't really count it if you think it's like maybe a half of it half of it and honestly not jokes aside but i think if show him and i was healthy he'd be the opening day starter because he was viewed as the head of the table the tribal chief and the symbolism of opening day i think show him and i earned last year being the leader of this pitching staff if he was healthy i do think he'd be getting the ball but homes has earned and keep this in mind about mania because i agree with you and that's why i said to mendi when he was on when he was going to announce show him and i because i completely agree with your assessment on opening day last year did anybody in their right mind think that show him and i would turn into the new york meds ace and the answer is no and he did yeah so as we begin this new baseball season and i think this works for the Yankees as well you never know who come october we're talking about as the ace of a team could it be clay homes i hope so could it be griffin canning because the best stop why not acknowledge me why not it could just be shown mania again so there you go breaking news clay homes atop the met rotation he is starting opening day the guy who starts the second game of the year is likely to start the first game at home for those that are thinking about that now we'll get to some of your phone calls eight eight eight zero eight one oh one nine including a russell wilson cringe list that we put together as the giants are meeting with russell wilson today and part of the criticism that he faces is that he's quote unquote cringe so we did a lot of research and we collected some of his cringiest moments let's go to vinnie and statin island how are you then hey how you doing guys good so uh evan right before i make my point i just wanted to say i don't know if you'll remember but we were supposed to talk this week but you had to move some things around yes i apologize for that but we could talk any guy i think i told uh my assistant because i have an assistant on instagram that uh any day at like 12 12 30 we will hook it up and we will uh pod let's go baby all right we'll make it work so yeah me and my partner we actually worked with the doe so we're just looking for a day off to get to get all with you you got it baby i'll be there appreciate you um so the clay homes thing for guys like morash and mchearson that obviously are going to troll the med fans like us it would be so great for clay homes that make the opening day start for the meds and do it in Houston and dominate a team that their team has been batting around by for years now you know what i i wonder about vinnie because obviously clay homes being effective is just great for the meds and it's great for their rotation if you're a Yankee fan how are you going to view clay homes as a starter being good if he is good because the Yankees never even considered moving him to the rotation so it's not right somebody you necessarily lost it's just another team taking a gamble on a player that you used in a very different role so are you going to be like bitter angry man whatever it is i think so i think if if i think if louis sevarino would have turned into like this super ace for the meds that would have been more frustrating than clay homes because clay homes it like he felt like a failed starter because he started his career in pittsburgh started what three games or so in his first first season and then he quickly got moved into a leaf role and so to us as a Yankee he was always a relief right right he's always a relief pitcher and you never really thought anything other than that so i i think this is more of a testament i think even Yankee fans would have to pay respect to to Jeremy hefner and what the meds pitching lab has done because we already saw it with sevy right we saw it with now we're seeing it with clay and it feels like they just have this this unique ability to get the best out of pitchers so they're mostly starting pitchers then what with that cause a Yankee fan i don't think i don't think it's anger i don't think it's honestly and i'm not a Yankee fan so i'm just speaking just based on the facts i think it should cause no emotion like i would almost look at clay homes is just another player yeah it's more like a missed opportunity that you didn't even think of right and they didn't consider it because clay was asked did you talk to the Yankees about converting to a starter and he said no in by way who whose idea was it was it clay's idea hey Mets i think i want to try to be a starting pitcher or so was it the Mets going to clay and saying we like your stuff we want to add a couple of pitches and we think we can convert you to a starter uh numerous teams including the Mets saw his stuff and saw his potential as a starter and brought it up to his agent who then brought it up to clay homes who's like sure right you know what why the hell not so it actually came from teams right not just the Mets but the Yankees weren't one of them so look i can't speak for Yankee fans but my assumption would be you shouldn't have any emotion towards clay homes i botched it again i don't think it's a botched it again i think it was just i think it's more that's funny though like clay homes honestly he was in no man's land because he's not a closer well he was but he wasn't but he's not because he wasn't good at it right you know what he he was he was until he took him away from everyone no he just didn't have elite stuff it's not like he was throwing 97 and blowing guys away it was all right i'm just gonna pepper around the edges and try to get you to ground out the second base yeah you know what i mean so i think if if home sucks all right let's say he starts opening day he's terrible and this failed experiment goes awry which is possible right cost you 13 million dollars i think then i could see the Yankee fan and i probably would join in if i was a Yankee fan just laughing pointing and laughing ha ha losers but if he's great i wouldn't even be annoyed because we weren't considering him in that role that's right so that would be the way i'd feel it let's go to sonny and mauver what's up sonny hey guys how are you good all's good good couple of giant points then a very intriguing question if you let me finish at the end um it's first of all uh bt you were right about current want to understand the assignment i actually met him which one do you think is bt right now tiki or me because it did work with him right tiki sorry i called him the other side okay so good anyway um i met him actually at the very beginning of the season at bergie up good in the men's store you know where that is right yeah yeah definitely yeah i know evan doesn't probably but no i know you're really cool yeah it's a high end men's store it meant i know it's $15,000 anyway notice his wife first because you remember when he was with the Rams they showed her a million times on tv right good that blonde spiky hair so i saw her then i had a look around and current one was standing right next man shoots myself like some a big giant fan and he said he was there to mentor the young quarterback so tiki you were right on that um as far as the quarterback situation listen the the giants took their hand by offering staff for a two-year deal so that tells you that kind of draft award or um sanders so they're gonna bet their franchise quarterback on a second or third round pick so the intriguing question is if they do not do that do you think they will not draft the quarterback and go with say a rogers and try to win you know this year for the next two years and wait for their quarterback is that a possibility i mean anything i think is a possibility i i think they are going to even if it's not if they can't get one of the kids at the top at the top so i really think it's cam war cam war if they can't get him i think they're still gonna draft a quarterback in a project because no matter how you look at it all of these kids are projects we said this a little bit earlier in the show um i don't think any of them are gonna come in and just take the league by storm i don't think we haven't seen that kind of success from these kids in college and so i don't know if it's gonna necessarily uh translate immediately to the nfl so the veteran is going to be necessary to help them but also to play right now so i think anything is really on the table but i don't see them not taking a quarterback this year the veteran that is on the table right now is the veteran they're meeting with reportedly today in rasa wilson and one of the criticisms that russ faces from all corners is that he's quote unquote cringe that is the criticism that rasa wilson faces so here at evan and t we did some research and we decided to pull the five cringiest things that rasa wilson has done so let's start things off with his imitation of his former head coach p carol in which he dressed up like p carol and then tried to imitate p carol take a listen so we're here stay out children got real cool we got real cool uh thing going on i'm gonna go see some kids and go hawks you know i'm a big girl when um always competing or you guys are rolos fantastic players and these kids it's good that absolutely fantastic and as you can see you got my game gear on get my lonerx you traced me see you how cringy would you put that one as i've been friends that's not a big crazy that's actually kind of entertaining really oh you're warming up to rasa but where was where was that we're what he was in seattle obviously because p was a said coach yeah and he was in front of like a hospital which was interesting so what was the context he was doing i don't know but he had like like he really looked like him was he accurate like practice i'm not is he doing this on his own just to do on his own just to screw around just to show off his p carol imitation yeah i'm not sure like was he was he goaded into doing this or was this something he just did i don't know because if he just did it then that's kind of crazy okay so that's where the context matters yes tommy where did you put that on the cringe list no that wasn't cringy at all i actually found that pretty entertaining right unless it was just him randomly doing it could also have been halloween he was dressing up as well maybe i know what's going on right now maybe these guys are accepting that rus is coming to the giant and all of a sudden the things that were cringy oh no no i promise you at least two of these next four yeah are gonna be very cringy well i'm bringing out the heavy heater now i'm bringing out to me what is one of the cringiest things and of course this is famous for those that are aware of it this is the mr unlimited cringe i've been thinking about it when my alter ego would be and i i think i have an alter ego his name his name's mr mr unlimited yeah you got to be unlimited you know you got to have a thought process of being unlimited so when people ask you you know what you're thinking about or what you want to do in life or where you want to go you got to be unlimited tell them i'm unlimited you know what i mean so when they ask you certain questions like who brings you motivation russell mr unlimited who who's your role model russell unlimited who's your go-to person for advice russell they think p carol they think this person think that person love you p but it's mr unlimited how about that one yeah yeah major cringe that's major cringe major who's that was that cr that was cr that doesn't eliminate the cringe by the way you know it's you know it's interesting about that little piece we just listen to if he did that seriously you know what i mean instead of being mr mr this bracket season fandol is letting you make the call because right now new customers can get $200 deliver it straight and it's awesome would you agree Tommy that's cringy or are you completely on board with everything rust does as someone that has several alter egos i appreciate the attempt but it was super corny all right delivery was all shut up negative Tommy yeah now this one help us out with t because we're gonna go inside the huddle yes and you can tell us if this is cringy or not as a teammate of his you're in the huddle with rosa wilson yep and let's say he starts singing in the huddle so here's rosa wilson mic'd up singing a little bit i'm gonna let it shine let it shine let it shine let it shine let it shine let it shine let it shine let's go get it baby let's go do it come on that was about dispersion that was something back dispersion right there i don't mind that at all that's it see i i can't i think that's great you think that's great yeah did he lie ever do that no no he did not okay you're pretty good voice here it carried collins ever do that oh no okay carried college would just just yell at everybody it was awesome all right here's another one in the huddle again tell us if this would be cringy because here he's trying to pump his teammates up see this one it's right here for you fellas we're gonna answer right here for you we're gonna answer right here for you let's go to work no that's fine that's all good so far that's all good all right hey if he would have done his unlimited like that it would have been doing it also right all right here's my last one because tiki's been okay with most of these outside of the unlimited one how about if he brought back the unlimited one but tried to do it in various languages oh lord how about that unlimited unlimited how did i say that friend i didn't say that thing in future bro unlimited what did i say the germ on the ground it's banish illamentato yeah lementato you got to lose the unlimited thing oh that was courting he's not bringing that here though now the other thing he does which drives fans nuts i don't mind it because pita lonzo does it so i'm good with it you know how after like p does an interview uh-huh we'll say l f g m yes okay that's his phrase l f g m and map fans love it we we yeah l f g m l g m l f g m so when russ was in seattle he did a whole go hawks yeah every interview would end with go hawks here's an example from the manning cast he was on the manning cast and he gives you his little go hawks the great show man you guys have done an amazing job with manning cast it's an honor to be on here with both of you appreciate it very interesting it's kind of collegey very collegey yeah he goes to denver and this is where it got very very he would end it with let's ride let's ride let's ride let's ride and you it pissed off bronco fence i'm telling you right i pissed every that's when i think it really gained steam as what's wrong with this guy why does he have to say let's ride it's 45 is it a thing let's ride is a thing but he's pandering that clearly like he's that's where it becomes corny and pandering it's one thing pete you've been here forever it's fine it's pete's goofy right russ is pandering when he does that it's obvious it's transparent and it's fake and tony so that bothered i think that would bother me now in pittsburgh is gallo here today yes oh i spoke to him about it he confirmed that he confirmed that it's fringy for for bronco fan he does not like russell wilson yes now he didn't like it and particularly the let's ride thing that's right and he let the let's ride the bronco's country let's ride schtick stay in denver i think in pittsburgh it was like here we go kind of like here we go stealers hmm what does he do here do we have an approved uh go big blue i think it's gonna be go big it's gotta be go big go big blue unlimited i think he's gonna whip out a go big blue and it will feel very pander-ish no i mean it's big blue it's like mick foley it's great to be here in honeington long island it's come on i know you're a long island guy but uh it's pander yeah but think about it tony when you're in hone tington long island you cheer and love it you're a giants fan once he starts saying i love you big blue you will go to fall hookline and sacrifice i go all day he loved the bronco fans he loved the seattle fans he loved the pittsburgh fans you don't have to love every single give me something else we're just don't recite whatever you want to say what's he going to say don't say anything it's just it comes off as pandering you're a sea hawk that's your team you won there that's fine leave it in seattle you got to freshen up the act a little bit is that you doesn't say it doesn't that well i mean if i i mean i have my act here if i were to revolve i would probably freshen up the act it is a new baseball season shouldn't you change the act for 2025 is the 2024 positive to me as you know is unkillable so i would not i think we're positive promise looking around okay uh i won't lead us russell wilson is cringy but i do have to defend him if he can win games and not alienate himself in the locker room which i don't think it'll do now i think he i think the issues in seattle and why people started to resent him in seattle was because it was for a long period of time there was success and maybe a battle over who's getting the credit for success right so i think in the short term whether it's here in new york or even last year in pittsburgh i don't think he's like a problem no i don't think he's a problem the only issue that became of issue was the i won an office on the executive level yeah that's in denver and that was bad yeah and davis isn't gonna allow that you're saying the hell no we'll get back to your calls on russell wilson the giant's quarterback clay homes is the Mets opening day starter and our Yankee fans actually going to be resentful if clay homes is any good less than two weeks away from the start of the baseball season the Yankees opening up in the bronx against the brewers the Mets opening up in houston against the astros if you're just tuning in the Mets did announce their opening day starter that will be clay homes aran boon has not announced his Yankee opening day starter but something very exciting is happening right here on wf a and today that you may not even be aware of and this was always something as a kid i look forward to so much that first time i could turn on wf a and and listen to a baseball game and back in the day when i was growing up obviously it was the Mets station so it was bob murphy and gary cohen back then but for the last i think now we're at about 12 years we are the flagship station for the raining and defending and undisputed americanly champion new york Yankees and so tonight at 6 30 p.m right after our show is over it is the wf a and it is the dave sims it is the Yankees 2025 debut right here on the fan so you will get all the action we'll get to hear dave sims who i played these clips a while ago but he was awesome in seattle for the last basically two decades and now we are going to hear dave sims as brilliance so tonight's Yankee game is on the radio it's the first game we're airing this season it is the Yankees against the fillies and the coverage will begin really just to play by play no pre game show we'll take it right up there until 6 30 and you will get to hear the voices of the legendary susan walman and the newest member of our family even though he was always in our family but then he left and he came back to our family the great dave sims yeah i'm looking forward to hearing him he's so unique obviously from john sturling who retired last year after the post season well you're tired then he came back for the post season but then ultimately retired but dave is such a cool dude man he's been around a couple of times we've seen him in studio here and i'm looking forward to this uh this this game i actually listened to it on the way home even though it's a spring training game doesn't mean anything but just to hear his cadence because we've only heard it in seattle i wonder what unique Yankee um i don't know little nuances he's gonna bring i look forward to it should be very exciting and pitching for the philadelphia fillies you may say why am i bringing up who's pitching for the philadelphia fillies it may be an audition because the guy pitching for the philadelphia fillies is clearly available the fillies would trade them to the Yankees if they wanted a depth starting pitcher and that guy is familiar with new york so since we're all good with yankies coming to meds and meds coming to yankies pitching for the fillies tonight former all-star taiwan walker just saying i'm just saying you never have enough starting pitching and trust me the fillies would deal you taiwan walker told free numbers 888 808 1019 let's go to dago he's calling from east meadow what's up dago hey what's up boys oh's good yo so hear me out if just if uh brian dable supposed to be this quarterback whisper and this great offensive genius then wouldn't it make sense for him to bring in james winston who is only 31 who is not only a one-year qb he can be if he had for possibly two years so instead of stretching for a quarterback this year which there doesn't seem to be like that one guy that's a unanimous you know franchise qb the strength of this team right now is Dexter Lawrence and what they've done on the defense right so bring in abdul carter for that dp from michigan and just kick the can down the road one more year and see what happens maybe there's another matthew safford situation next year but it just seems to me like he's desperate instead of trying to figure out the qb situation he's trying to bring in an already made qb by someone else instead of doing something with lesser talent right so so you're suggesting instead of all of us clamoring for russell wilson and erin rogers you just you you go get a serviceable player that you hope you can coach the interceptions out of and say like james winston and then wait for another year i mean it's it's not a bad idea and and to be honest with you the more that this veteran qb carousel getting you know jerked around is going on it it kind of feels more plausible to be honest with you the idea is solid the problem with the idea and i don't like when i even when i argue with my wife i say this so this is very similar i don't like harping on the past you know yes i screwed up on yes i shouldn't have done that right but let's talk about how that's not going to happen ever again right why do we have to spend ten minutes or just let it go or just let it go add more confidence and zach wilson than you just heard more right why did you play that drop that had nothing to do with anything we were talking about you were wrong so i'm proving that that wasn't the best to take okay fair enough so what i'm saying here is i don't want to get nuts about mistakes the giants made last year because one thing giant fans can also do is get nuts about hey this is why i wanted to fire shane and dabel now yeah new administration cleaner thing i i want to rehash the past but his point about bringing in somebody that ryan dabel can almost fix or develop it pisses me off because that's what i thought last year was such a great opportunity to do especially with the questions around daniel jones which is why one of the names i brought up to a year ago i'm like a suit sayer you got to give it time i'll be right eventually was Justin fields because the way i looked at it was you got a quarterback coming off an injury why not bring someone else in who yeah but you can kind of because i think it's too late to do his plan well the problem the problem it was Justin the Justin fields take is it at the time the bears wanted a second rounder yeah they were asking for too much hundred percent made that they even asked for a first round i can't whatever it was the price was too it was way too high and then ultimately after everybody moved and drew lock signs with the with the giants and all the other free agents are our our places and teams have short up their quarterback situation the bears like oh crap we're stuck with them we're drafting a quarterback right we're just we just got to give him away but my point is like okay forget field giants could wait to wait the field giants couldn't afford to wait couldn't wait on Justin fields that's one example i'll give you second example because it's the one that we're talking about a lot today and that's james winston was avale so is sam darnell so is right and sam darnell was cheap yeah that's my point like one of those guys in a year like last year would have made more sense than this year because i think this year they're just on the hot seat yeah i don't think dable has time to like hey let me see if i can unbreak james winston like it's a great idea in theory but guys the owner said they're on the hot seat without saying they're on the hot seat right so i think the plan is sound if it was done in the last year not this year right and i and by the way i know we're talking about hot seats and what the owner expects and we're saying it's got to be a winning season it might not be a winning zenning it's just gonna be better it just might need to be yes we lost more games than we won meaning we're under 500 but man our team is getting better and we can see it like we lose we lose three of those games by two points yeah right less than one score if game-winning field gold the wrong way type of thing it's it's not like getting your butt kicked like the giants did a lot last year and they were just uncompetitive and some of those games marakept and open ended i need to be in a better mood next year right there needs to be hope moving into the off-season and that can be defined a lot of different ways let's go to jake up in fair haven how you doing today jake up hey guys uh long time listener first time caller we see you man talk about yeah no problem i just want to talk about your take on clay homes uh listen as a yankie fan long time uh young i'm 23 something yankie fan which i know my best the match fans off that's fine i understand it matchy makes sense i respect it you know uh i understand what you guys are coming from where the yankies didn't really use clay homes as a starter there was never really a moment where we have yankie fans or anyone really thought oh yeah this guy's a starter not friends but as a yankie fan when somebody we see this time and time again where we have pitching or other players that go to other teams and they are more successful it does not matter the circumstances in my experience and from other yankie fans that i know if that player does better on another team we get upset and he get upset because unfortunately there is a level of entitlement and it's passed down just from my dad passed down through the family of we demand excellent i demand waiting right but jake up we're just telling you you don't need to be upset like why would you be upset you didn't want clay homes anymore am i right i'm not saying it's rational okay all right i got you the right but in the same vein it's just the realities yankie fans were crazy no it's true no it's true i think all fan bases especially new york fan bases are somewhat crazy like that but the reality is no met fan wanted clay homes anymore they didn't they didn't see a role for him i think yankie fans wanted him back as a reliever potentially i don't think starter was ever brought up like when it was mentioned that he was the Mets were considering him as a starter it was shocking to everybody myself included so i think it was viewed yeah i think it was viewed differently as a reliever like was where yankie fans cramming to have him back not necessarily but i don't think they would have minded if he came back he's a solid he was an all-star no i think they want it yeah but they wanted an upgrade and they did they got devin williams right they they upgraded as good as clay is i we all agree if we're comparing them devin williams is a much more accomplished and better relief pitcher than clay homeses right so they did upgrade especially i mean the thing you don't know though is what luke weaver's going to be this year we knew what he was last year at least at the end but essentially luke weavers replacing clay homes can i give you a wild comparison and i want to use it for you tommy isn't that badie sucks this year the Mets release them and you're like great i'm so done with brat badie hey they've done with it brat badie then immediately signs a minor league contract with the Yankees to be a flame-flowing throwing right-handed relief pitcher hear me out on this he then quickly makes the adjustment and next year brat badie is the best reliever in baseball oh we as med fans can get pissed at the Mets that brat badie became this all-star reliever for the Yankees i'm not going to be pissed but here is why because would you possibly say because it's so ridiculous i know tyler nayquin former med is now a pitcher but in most guys are not going to you know all of a sudden become a big league pitcher after being a you know an offensive player answer you go says donities in met camp right now sure sure and keel did it here's where i would be mad as a Yankee fan and no no answer my question i just answered it you would be no you didn't i said i wouldn't be pissed how could i be pissed how could i possibly be pissed okay so you would not be pissed i would not be pissed i would not be pissed i would not be pissed now before you give your other answer that's kind of the same thing yeah like clinton not really because it's so it's so out of the field no clay home starting as an out of left field no one talking about a pitcher it's not like your second baseman probably this year becoming a second baseman becoming a pitcher i even though donovan waltman could be but i'm only saying that homes moving to the rotation like take Seth Lugo for example i promise i'll let you make your point but this is interesting Seth Lugo was a reliever for the Mets who wanted to start started a little bit was in the bullpen finally the Mets let him go he becomes a starter yeah becomes a sai young caliber starting pitcher that's different because we all talked about it we all debated it should Lugo start should Lugo relieve Lugo start it was a thing clay homes converting into a starter was like a slap across the face when jol sherman reported that no one talked about it at least around here it was a stoner so to be annoyed about something that no one was ever even considering that's why i brought up the baby extreme comparison because it's almost the same thing yeah but i think clay homes and we started i started talking about this earlier clay homes was it almost felt like his relieving days he was just going to always just be this middle reliever now right not he wasn't ever going to get another chance to be a closer but he's not old enough to just put out the pasture so why not he was one of the better relievers on the market this year i know that but he was like but who was going to trust him to get that final out not not to save games you're right but i know as a med fan i wanted him as the eighth inning guy i looked at him as one of the great bullpen options that were out there so that's the way i viewed it now what was your point yeah so what i would say is if i was a Yankee fan where i would be annoyed if you look at the tenure of Brian kashman one of the biggest knocks on him is starting rotation you'd give all this money in all these years to a guy like max freed where you had clay homes already on your roster more value you sign them for less years they don't have the foresight perhaps maybe the Mets do or even another team that want to make the homes a starter where they're still stuck in the give them nine years give them a ton of money instead of being creative on a guy you already had on your roster you had clay homes if the Mets turn clay homes into a great starter if i'm a Yankee fan i'd go we had this guy under our nose how come nobody saw this but let me push you back on this one because i totally get your point in the Yankees are operating very differently than the Mets when it comes to acquiring pitchers well they handed out a lot of big contracts David Stern is allergic to that right he ain't doing it here's the other thing yeah clay homes Luis heel right think about who you had here max freed then enough starters Carlos Rodon yeah right Clark Schmidt now and obviously um i always forget his Will Warren no not Will Warren uh he's Marcus Strowman. Marcus Strowman. You forgot Marcus Strowman forgive Marcus Strowman because we almost traded him in our minds before the season started but Strowman like you can't how do you move with Clark you know clay homes into that group it doesn't make any sense yeah but the the other thing is the Mets need starting pitching yeah so there's a lot of things that i i disagree with what you said first of all they got the best out of clay homes the Yankees i have to give them credit for that he was a failed reliever with the pirates yeah and then he came to the Yankees and they want to failed starter right failed reliever Luke weaver was a failed starter he turned into one of the better relievers last year so i think the Yankees have done a good creative job with developing some pitching but here's the other issue the biggest issue i have with the Yankees and clay homes as a starter i want to walk you into a world it's the middle of november rumors are coming out and a rumor comes out Joel Sherman same report about clay the Yankees are very interested in moving clay homes to the rotation okay they're interested in resigning him and moving him to uh starting pitching roll could you imagine the reaction Yankee fans would have had yeah he would have gone nuts right but at the expense of who that's that's what it would have come down to i don't even think it matters like if they came out with an idea and by the way i think this works for the Mets too if the Mets had a failed reliever and all of it not even a failed reliever but a guy that lost the closers wrong like of all of a sudden in 1997 the Mets announced Melrow Haas is going to be a starting pitcher we would have lost our mind this environment the Bronx that is was never a place for clay homes to be a converted starting pitcher there was too much baggage there was going to be too much criticism and that's why i think any criticism if this works for the Mets at the feet of the Yankees is unfair right it was never real for them it would have never even been smart it would have not gotten through the PR test right and so and they didn't need them they didn't need them no i that's the other part so i think any Yankee fan and i understand our young Yankee failure fan callers point about well they're entitled people will bitch people can bitch about stuff it doesn't mean they're right and in this case i'm going to defend the new york Yankee fan if clay homes turns in a sai young first of all if that happens tiki i lugee shawl will be rich we got a big ass bet going out there for that that is not a knock on the Yankees nor should it be considered like this Yankee disaster the Yankee disaster is one soda winning seven mvbs with the bet right right that's because that because well i don't even know if it's a Yankee disaster but you know what i mean like that's just a great player and you lost right let's go to Sam and Trenton what's up Sam what's up t what's up Evan all's good man what's up speaking about big ass bet so February 14th i got clay homes at plus twenty thousand and i just opened up my handy dandy pandal sportsbook and he is now down to plus twelve thousand oh my god look at you you're ahead of the game wow this is where we screwed up i know i know let's do it fellas all right now here's the question Sam because i don't know if you've got guts or maybe it's the opposite of guts smarts if he gets off to a good start and the app that you're using offers you a very lucrative buyout will you accept the buyout or will you say let's ride russell wilson style Evan i'm going to need tommy john smash and that except button and taking that pay out that's a good answer right money isn't everything it's the only thing because the reality of the clay homes back and this is why it's tough for us to do it as one bet because we're four different people let me disagree about this right like tommy's the kind of guy that's going to say let her ride he's gonna want to say all right he's better than max read i'm the kind of guy that says wait a second we bet a hundred dollars and they're offering us three grand yeah i'm out i'll see you guys later right i could use that to bet on something that i'm more confident so even though we have not made this bet yet which is a problem because the numbers keep changing all right i think we have to do separate bets so that each of us has an option to opt out or let it ride so again this is a bet you can't make in new york right so it's got to be in new jersey so i got to go through my main man vinny bag of donuts and unfortunately vinny doesn't offer cash outs first of all we're not going through vinny bag of donuts why not tiki lives in new jersey yes i'm driving new jersey at some point the next few days i'm just gonna bet it when we're in jersey but we go through slippery Pete for the ratings now you don't want to go through vinny for the no i'm going through the paid sponsor fan tool who does offer cash outs yes and in that case it depends on the size where do we go in here hundred twenty five like what do we think that's the real question so clay homes is odd to win the national league saiyan you have them in front of you right can't even see the numbers when you're in New York is that right yeah it's a bizarre you can't see it on the app I can maybe look on Twitter or something try to find it right so if we each bet 25 bucks and they're offering you hundreds of dollars it's tough to just say nah let it ride I know there's a big reward at the end of the window but it's or at the end of the rainbow it's a saa young vote like it's you could have a great year and not when exactly where exists right so I think you have to cash out you gotta cash out if he's if he's trending his number I don't know three or four midway through the season you got a cash that's right I'm hoping on opening day he goes sixth scoreless I'll look for the cash out right away march 28th I'll be looking at it say where's that let's go to Chris and he's standing over hey Chris hey guys just uh happy Friday let's go johnny's later um what so I was I was lukewarm on Russell Wilton but after hearing that unlimited thing I can't get out of my head now I won't have to do with the guy that's that that's the only one that bothered me Chris that's the one that drives me insane I'm gonna be going to bed singing just unlimited but you know unlimited I honestly think I honestly think I think coming to Vito give this a better chance to win I mean Russ you said you said earlier Russell I mean it's that it's he really has fallen off right I mean you know Aaron Rogers can get guys the ball you know he's gonna be able to execute Russ had an issue executing a whole second half of Pittsburgh season now you're right and look he doesn't turn the ball over that's the good thing Chris but it's it you just feel like there's certain plays that he should make and he's not gonna make or at least not even should he used to make that he's not gonna make anymore and and is that really what you want and so I hate this position the Giants Aaron every time I think about it I have a different opinion on what they should do it's not a great frustrating yeah it's not a great situation because we're now in a position to have to wait for one of these veterans to want us right it's not like we really want this guy let's go get him it's this guy also has to make a decision whether he wants us if it's it's a two-way street and that makes it hard I also and this is me speaking I'm not saying Joe Shane's doing this I look at this situation differently because of what the owner said so I'm following the script of hey they better win some games if this was let's say a first-year administration in which I was or even not the first year but it was early on or I wasn't worried about a guy losing their job or that not being a factor I think the way I would have approached it is the way the Jets are approaching yeah which is I would have brought in Justin Fields as my lottery ticket and said and obviously I'm consistent about that because I wanted him last year for the Giants what we talked about and the Bears asking price was high it didn't drop too too late I get all that but I was intrigued by using Fields as my lottery ticket and then letting the draft board come to me where I'm investing in someone young who could be the answer even though it's probably not and I'm drafting someone but I'm not stretching I think unfortunately because of the spot the Giants are in they're drafting a quarterback no matter what whether they love the guy or not and they've got to get a veteran in here who gives them a chance to win games because they got to win games yes right I think that situation is what makes it worse it makes it it makes it perilous you could easily make the wrong decision and not only is your team gonna stink you're gonna get fired yeah and you're never gonna have had a chance to fully develop draft and develop a quarterback which is what I think every head coach and GM especially in today's NFL should have the right to do here is somebody that would like to rip me and that's okay Lorenzo and Kiport did not like my Brett Beatty point Lorenzo why I thought it was brilliant well I mean computers get stretched out back and forth a lot where I think I would be if I was a Yankee fan which I'm not I am a lifelong Mets fan and unfortunately a Brooklyn Mets fan back to the Mike Jomensky days but oh boy gee man yeah yeah that was a bit by the way Lorenzo I hate to say this because Tiki may yell at me and ban me from the radio station that was a hell of a tank job last night that was a big timeout against Chicago that was much needed the Nets still in the league I approve it for the Nets I just assume when they lose and they I try to pretend they didn't play that's really happy um suck suck suck the problem I would have as a Yankee fan if I was one was if other teams saw this why didn't they see it or why didn't they consider it if he didn't succeed as a closer it was kind of in the middle why not see that and say well let's bone down to the minors to start him out what because my answer to that would be it wasn't a need for them yeah like their bullpen needed clay homes more than their rotation did fair uh a quick question Tiki what's up um why is it that not one NFL player can use the water bottle themselves why do they have to have some 27 year old infant that learned how to do the most perplexity I've ever seen it you know it's a good question I think the answer to Lorenzo honestly is it because it's there's ice those things are it's ice water and so unless it's freezing outside it's there's condensation on it and so if you pick it up and you have gloves on it like you're gonna get water on your hands now you can easily just wipe it off like I'm assuming that's what it is that's a great question but you're right you see that all the time what a wonderful someone just walks up to you and like puts like holds the water bottle right in front of your face like you want water uh no I'm good I would yeah yeah give you some water I would feel weird that way like they're like they're milking me like I need to drink up myself yeah I'm not a baby I don't remember what I used to do we're gonna have to go back and look at old videos I need to know was someone drew like putting water in your mouth or are you like give me the damn bottle I think I did it myself no I don't I don't remember it's my lawyer calls coming up at 888-808-1019 a reaction to clay homes being the Mets opening day starter and Yankee fans reaction to the possibility that this may work today's the day for you because earlier today we heard Carlos Mendoza officially announced the Mets opening day starting pitcher it was a surprise it turned out to be clay homes we have just received word and I don't know who it is who you will announce it to us that the New York Yankees have announced their opening day starting pitcher really let's hear it so I'm gonna guess Marcus Strowman it feels so fitting that the meta opening day starter is clay homes the Yankee cast off reliever turned starter and the Yankee starter is the Yankee cast off who remained in the rotation but couldn't make the start last year because the days didn't line up so I'm gonna guess who is Marcus Strowman do you have a guess um I think Rodon is the other option and then I guess Rodon hasn't pitched in two weeks so I'm gonna say it's Rodon according to Aaron Boone Carlos Rodon is the Yankees opening day starter because he told us that was the case no he said it was either or though no but he said yeah he didn't say he didn't lean one way or the other damn it don't I have that one and Max Fried will pitch game too oh very good well I think the thing with Fried is obviously he's earned the right I guess if you will to start opening day but the days didn't line up we heard that last year with Boone and Strowman so it makes sense so they're gonna go back to back left these to start the year so Carlos Rodon gets the gets the nod the opening day start at Yankee Stadium against the brew crew he better than I'm jacking up you know what he could jack it up as long as the Yankees respond by scoring nine of their own that's true go win the game 9/8 so Boone is now countered Mandy did he do that on purpose did he say I'm Mandy you want to announce one starter I'm gonna go out announce game one end game today probably talk to each other we're like hey let's do this today let's get a new stump the opening day opening day started deadline 4 p.m. today so you had to hit the deadline no it's not unless it is there's a deadline you didn't see that new thing from Manfred of course he started there is an opening day so deadline is March 14th at 4 p.m. he's made it up there's no way that's real okay believe me if you don't if it's real I gotta take it out because I'm the baseball geek I should know this you must have missed that email you weren't C seat on that email I know Rob personally he sent me an email I'm looking I'm just gonna confirm this you were believable until that last statement yes but in the business a long time I know Robby personally he was gonna be believable until I said hey take if there's a real deadline I wear an L if there's not a real deadline Lugie was no and as soon as I say that uh-huh Lugie would have backed off in the whole thing I would have folded on the question immediately as a congratulations Carlos Verdun goes from blowing kisses two years ago in Anaheim to having a solid year last year certainly we went out and made all the starts to now getting the the nod of opening day opening day at Yankee Stadium let's go to Ozzy and Woodridge how are you Ozzy what's up Ozzy what's up Rob is Lugie's man friend very nice that's a good one off the cuff yeah man if Sean didn't tweet about that Clay Holmes opening day news then we know he is truly unplugged and not listening to anything anywhere well has he I haven't I haven't checked his Twitter account has he been tweeting on vacation he did text you this morning didn't he he did he did he broke his own role because he claimed he was blocking me but then he texted me this morning about fantasy baseball so yeah no Sean has not tweeted in a full day okay in fact he tweeted on his plane ride in so he was on the plane and he wrote in flight TV is broken kind of like the Giants quarterback situation attempting to be uneven like and throw my phone in the ocean for a few days wheels up see you next week meanwhile he hasn't thrown his phone over because he's texting me today about fantasy and yesterday he responded to my pet sherbert text message right yeah but of all the news if he didn't tweet about Holmes opening day starter for the Mets because he's been giving us crap ever since he signed with the Mets then you know he's cut off a little bit so good for him I'll give him a little bit of credit sure do not get for you Evan you do with the information what you wish Eli Manning trumps Caitlin Clark 76 61 in pop a shot yeah so yeah you know maybe you could send me there's a challenge there's a challenge to be had now well I think it's a reminder that even if you're good at basketball you can lose to someone who's not good at basketball on pop a shot because I kick everyone's ass and pop a shot and I'm very un athletic so I would challenge Eli if you got any balls you'll take me on in pop a shot from borkley center at that brand new key club and I'll whip that ass all over the key club there you go and if you beat him you can say you beat uh well no you didn't make the whole fame so now you can't say that but uh Evan this is more important I don't know if you address situation maybe over the weekend regarding jet and his natural curiosity about that mysterious number yeah tell him just tell him it represents and refers to the pure joy and satisfaction and it's amazing because it represents the year that is two favorite teams won the world championship oh I was waiting for something that's actually taken yeah I was waiting for something dirty because you can actually take that I could you know what I made yeah uh two days ago I mentioned this briefly that I noticed my son who likes to keep notes for himself had a note that he should google what six nine means when you put the numbers together and so I as a father was like man I guess I have to have the chat with him by the way here are the latest lines on clay homes winning the saiyeon uh the books are different but it's either 150 to one or 125 to one or 120 to one so his numbers have come down a bit yeah based on how he's pitched in spring training I don't think starting opening day is really impacts that at all but he's look good in spring training and look we saw Seth Lugo have a great year last year and the year before that so we have seen a reputation now of starting pitchers or relievers converting the starters and then having some pretty good success Edgar is in Manhattan what's up Edgar hey what's going on Evan what's up dude what's up no I was just listening to the conversation and um about clay homes and the Yankees can't be mad at the next national league saiyeon no other team can either because nor the nor the team saw what the Mets saw so you got to give kudos to this Mets pitching staff they're like like they call the Mets uh pitching lab right or whatever it is well is it's only a isn't I'll say I agree about the Mets pitching lab all right because right now it's getting a lot of high praise and it deserves the high praise right they got to go do it again now all right clay homes having a good spring training and clay homes starting opening day is not a victory quite yet he now has to go out and make 25 or 30 starts and be effective so I give the lab a ton of credit for what they accomplished last year but this year is kind of like a heat check for the pitching lab also last year with sevy in particular it was it was managing the injury right as his years and as a Yankee he was just always hurt right the biggest problem with sevy was staying on the field and sevy had an interview yesterday in which he complimented the met doctors and how they're on another level Yankee doctors were good but the met doctors were on another level right and it's and it's because when sevy was healthy with the Yankees he was unbelievable right right but he just couldn't stay healthy and so whether that was I mean I don't know if that's the pitching lab and mechanics and things of that nature maybe it is but it's just he was healthy yeah it's everything so sevy did this interview talking about the trainers that the met have and I think some Yankee fans took it as a slide because sevy said hey the Yankee trainers were good the met trainers were on another level I don't think that was a knock at the Yankees I think was more a compliment of the trainers he worked with last year right and he specifically talked about the food about the sleeping habits like a lot of the little things you forget about and how it impacted him yeah things I've been telling you for the last year now you haven't telling me man but you know what he was talking about sleep that's really interesting because you've told me about sleep and I appreciate it but most important thing I do every day no and I agree with you but you know what you haven't told me what's that okay how do you do it I don't sleep more how I don't think when I get home well sevy had a whole careful playing with the sleep was it yeah well your problem just for you for solve you for a second yeah not soft but discuss for a minute you think too much like you never stuff think that's an understatement you know what I mean so when I get home and after I have dinner with the wife and the kids I'd like watch mindless television yeah just stupid nonsense because I don't want to think and so when I go to bed my mind is just kind of like all right let's just shut down you're right whereas you were like all right what did Tiki say to me you know I can make a bit out of this I could not like to go to a former president's boyhood homes right there's just kid in the minors I saw him like three years ago actually I know I think he has a college at Auburn or something like that let me go look where he where's he now oh wait yeah he's gonna be in the majors in three years oh I gotta write that down like your mind doesn't stop now you're right that's my biggest problem I'm thinking about like oh I think it was a great comparison and you're right you're right I gotta somehow change that I was listening to sevy to thinking is he gonna offer some more advice besides that and basically it was so simple but it's so true what do you do what do you say because I didn't hear it sleep in complete darkness and we don't do that I do well you're not with my wife is home she has to have a TV on right but I'll bury my head and sometimes I'll put earphones in but when she's away as soon as I get in bed TV goes off phones on the other side of the room I want nothing bothering me and that's probably gonna cause you to get better sleep when your wife's not there for that reason 100% and so it's a great idea because you don't even think about it like even a hallway light or a bathroom light or your cell phone or your tablets on or like I've fall asleep a lot of times to YouTube that's a light right or the shades being up something as simple as that right I mean the shades being up oh you try to sleep in all of a sudden the sun's coming out so that was a good piece of advice I was like all right sevy's helping me deadly sleep in your bed sometimes yes yeah well that's that's a bad one too that doesn't affect me my dog sleeping in the bed mine does why did you wake up she wake you up she's not that's very offensive I thought she doesn't but she's heavy and so she wants to like sit right on you and so she's heavy and she gets hot and so midway in the middle of the night if she sleeps in the bed yeah most of the time she sleeps in her cage but if she's in the bed I'll just wake up sweating and it's because she's on top of me boom like the truth is when Aaron Rodgers went into the darkness two years ago and we were all fascinated by it I know I was like going to the bathroom this that he probably got the best freaking sleep now you're right command right because there was nothing that could possibly be a distraction to wake you up right and that really is the number one thing right unless you're not used to it in because it was he in nature Aaron Rodgers was it was that in nature was that in I think it was in a room in a room yeah but there was nothing right no light no sound like complete silence yeah that's the beauty of it I bet you you sleep 13 hours if you do that because you don't know when you don't know when to wake up you have no idea when to wake up there's no hint for you to wake up because even if you go into a dark room and the blinds are up you could probably see through it a little bit yeah as you're sleeping that the lights coming out so I think you need that utter complete darkness oh by the way if you guys aren't aware and this is more good news for giant fans Demarcus Lawrence left the Dallas Cowboys he signed with the Seattle Seahawks him and Michael Parsons have gone completely at it on social media I thought they were boys and here's how it started very simple thing and to me Demarcus Lawrence dropped the nuke okay like we'll get to what they ended up saying to each other but listen to this first little thing that Lawrence did to me this set the whole thing off here's Demarcus Lawrence being interviewed after signing with Seattle and talking about leaving the Dallas Cowboys and signing with the Seattle Seahawks you know Dallas is my home I made my home there you know my family lives there you know I'm forever gonna be there but you know I know for sure I'm not gonna win a Super Bowl there so yeah hey here we here Demarcus Lawrence welcome to the Seahawks thanks for joining us wow that's that's harsh bro well that's that's that's a fan take yes that's what every fan non-cowboy fan says about the Cowboys you're never winning a Super Bowl here that that's why I saw that and I'm like oh my god he started the whole damn thing right he just throws out there yeah I'm never gonna win there and he lives in Dallas and his family's gonna stay in Dallas yeah he's also he was there for a long time and he's throwing shade like that that's it he walks out the door that's a big shade I mean he's good luck going to restaurants I mean imagine if Saquan Barkley said that upon signing with the Eagles like hey love New York it'll always be my home love everybody but man I knew I wasn't winning a Super Bowl there like bro you you said he was dead to us he would have been dead to us 10 times over it said that right right so what was the reaction from the fan base so obviously the fan base I think the Cowboy fan base has split some of them are saying he's right Jeff Jones is an idiot and obviously some are very bothered but Michael Parsons responded to this clip by saying this is what rejection and envy looks like this is some clown bleep wow and then he's got a clown emoji DeMarcus Lawrence then responds on social media to Mike Michael Parsons response by saying calling he said DeMarcus is brutal man in a good way I guess calling me a clown won't change the fact that I told the truth maybe if you spent less time tweeting and more time winning I wouldn't have left oh wow that's why oh my god my god obviously responded no he didn't he did not so I checked recently to see is there an update on this like how does this end and I have not received seen a response that was the last response was him saying rejection and envy looks like this is some clown bleep and then DeMarcus response and that's how it ended now I don't know if do you think Mike has got a response he has to that's Mike and Parsons is emo right is to be a social media troll like that's that's what he does that's what he does he has to do it he has to respond you can't let it die conspiracy theory go ahead it's a work Parsons has a podcast and he will talk about on the podcast or he'll have Lawrence on the podcast you can use the whole thing is why bro you signed with the Seahawks and Sam Donald what's Super Bowl you winning there it's not like you signed with the Chiefs or the Ravens or Saquon with the eagle's fair point at the Seattle we all know Dallas sucks so we appreciate you dunking on him but you signed with Seattle yeah but I think that the player probably looks at that situation differently than we do as fans I mean here's the one thing about Jerry Jones and Dak Prescott and I think you'd agree with this I think that most cowboy fans and you as an independent football observer would say they went hanging with that team no I think that you can look at Seattle with still a young head coach with an ownership group and a general manager that's won before and Sam Donald who you still not fully sure you know what he is and say they could win not gonna bet on it but they could so I don't think it's nuts for DeMarcus Lawrence to think that way and say I could win here but I know I can't win there yeah I think he's probably also saying about Dallas our division is gonna kick our butt meaning if he stayed in the NFC East for the next couple of years yeah right Philly is the best team in the division he could be look at your Washington is gonna continually get better in the division I don't rule out though Tommy because Tommy I give him where I trust Tommy is sniffing out if something's a work or not because he did it like immediately with the Pat Mahomes senior thing with John Rocker like I was so pumped like he was the first one as I proud to work it's work it's work so I'm gonna give you a level of you may be right I think we'll know you're right if he goes on the podcast as soon as we hear the Marcus Lawrence is potting with Michael Parsons then we're gonna know yeah it's also the fact that Micah has not responded yet and he responds immediately to every when things like this happen yeah and the fact that he hasn't has been over a day now there's no yeah this is you're probably right Tommy but the other possibility is that it started off as a shoot and they're gonna make it a work which means this is all real now Micah's gone behind the scenes to say hey guys to Marcus we've been boys right chill out let's chill out and oh by the way let's take advantage of this and make it something but it is real it started real let me give you another conspiracy theory and I'll tie back to New York we talked about the Michael Bridge's minutes thing yeah and how maybe other people in the locker room feel the same way and he's the messenger maybe there are people on the Cowboys that realize they're not winning because Jerry Jones just runs things he's ran this place you know not into the ground but we're not going to Super Bowl let's feed it to the guy leaving he'll say it and then Parsons can act like the hero but this is really the message and maybe Dallas Jerry Jones he loses power just a thought you need problem solved express employment professionals express pros dot com that's that's a conspiracy though but it would have worked if he was specific about what the issue in Dallas was he just said I know I can't win a doubt but I think most cowboy fans realize what the issue is but what it is or is it that Prescott or is it the fact they can't win with that quarterback you tell me you could argue both I think it's probably a little bit of both that just can't win the big game in the postseason he's great in the regular seasons almost one in MVP a couple years ago but he's constantly hurt and something always gets in their way whether it's self-inflicted or they just run up against better teams every it's just it's been the same way for a decade now that's why that answer is very split it could be of course it could be Jerry could also be Dak I don't know what the market's meant unless he's further asked about it and if he does do that podcast with Parsons he ain't gonna ask him that what is he gonna say so why do you think we saw right why do you think we can't win by the way speaking of podcasts Kendrick Perkins was critical of Jalen Bronson and Josh Hart doing a podcast they responded to that we'll get to that coming up in a few minutes plus your calls 888-808-1019 coming up in the next 10 minutes or so James Dolan did an interview with Jalen Bronson and Josh Hart I got two interesting clips that will play for you including Jalen Bronson and Josh Hart's response to the criticism that they should not be potting during the course of an NBA season if you've missed any of the show you could rewind it on the Odyssey app toll free numbers 888-808-1019 let's go to Butch he's calling from the fine state of New Jersey what's up Butch? Yes sir uh first time Cola was longtime listeners I think you guys are great appreciate it um like I just want to reach out to all these giant fans out there I think that we did pretty good in the free agency we tackled some a couple of positions in the secondary that were pretty good signings we got a good backup tackle Hudson from Cleveland we got that backup defensive veteran who had six acts later I think we did pretty good as far as these signings the GM did not sit on his hands he was he's pretty aggressive right I like I like his attitude my question is now everybody's question now who's going to play quarterback now my thinking is I would have liked to see a bridge quarterback somebody young I would like to see Justin Fields but the just beat us to that and I like Wilson I just don't want to see an older quarterback where he's going to eat up whatever money we have left over for free agency right and I'm not so convinced on these two quarterbacks coming out this year I would like we got the first five pick now we got five picks in the first 105 picks I think we should build our roster with those five guys those five picks right but what are you doing a quarterback though okay here we go I think the kid from 7th use is good okay now the kid from Ohio State is not bad either now 2026 there's some good young quarterbacks coming out now look are we going to be contenders this year let's face the alley I'm a great fan I don't think we are so you know what we could bank on a franchise quarterback next year just use the bridge quarterback for this year now the problem you're running into is can this administration survive yeah not winning games well also not putting a young future quarterback on the roster I think as long as they stay healthy they'll win some games this year like we saw this even in 2023 two seasons ago when like they weren't good but they were in a lot of games and we talked about it often leading into last before last season how they easily could have won nine games last year or two years ago they lost these one score games just because they weren't good enough like they were they were banged up and and dangle Jones wasn't healthy and Tommy DeVito was kind of a playing hero whatever was going on they just weren't good enough but if they build if they keep building the depth like they're they are then I think they can survive some of these injuries a little bit better the one thing he did say which is a concern is Russell Wilson and Aaron Rogers are gonna command a good penny yeah I mean Rogers is gonna be over 40 a year I think yeah and that's just that just feels on like I don't know I just it doesn't sit right with me well and also it's something you're gonna feel down the road because if you sign Rogers to a two year ninety million dollar deal which I've heard boomer float out there and I think that sounds right aren't you gonna have to throw in these void years which is gonna spread out the gap it which means you're gonna pay the Rogers piper years from now at some point yes and that's not that's not ideal especially if you survive it if you seem surviving healthy even if they don't survive it you'll ladle it on to the next the next regime so for a bridge for a bridge it's just it which kind of doesn't make sense I think I mean you were right about Justin Fields if Justin Fields would have been a giant we would have been I don't I don't think it's static about it but if he'd won some games and he was just a cheap bridge mmm great because if you're gonna get a bridge he better be cheap headline headline headline Tiki Barber jealous of the New York Jets I don't know if you guys heard that but that's what I heard I have my I have my issues with adjusted fields but a guy like that yeah but there's the promise there's not any other guys there weren't a lot of these young lottery tickets if you will right who else is there are not many let's go to Jean Carlo and Queens what's up Jean Carlo Jean Carlo what up hey guys how's it going thanks for taking my call pleasure man what's up what's up man Evan really quick I think you might have said something or forgot something that could be L worthy go ahead a couple of minutes ago you were talking about the Mets converting infielders into pitchers and you kind of forgot a big one I Davis oh no that was a different team I think you got converted in like a independent ball I go ahead on Jacob the Grom all that doesn't count he's a minor you don't count guys when they do it from the minors but yes Jake was drafted at a Stetson as a shortstop and got converted into a starting pitcher and he was a hell of a starting pitcher and by the way a pretty damn good hitter right aren't all those a lot of those like college stars yeah aren't they two way guys yeah even um the Mets have a big prospect McLean who was a two way player who just recently they said you know what just start games so I I didn't forget it it's just I don't think about it not regard I think about a guy who's established as a major leaguer then converting which we've seen a lot over the last few years Luke he mentioned it passingly but Tyler Naikwin was a guy the Mets acquired at the deadline in 2022 you guys may remember him he just signed as a relief pitcher now all right so we do see guys try to make that conversion and some are able to pull it off in fact the Mets have one in their uh in spring training right now a guy named Anthony ghost he was a big outfield prospect for a while with the Blue Jays with uh Cleveland and he did make the major so it's not like low level minors like Jake and he didn't work out didn't become the guy people thought and then got converted we have quarterback news here breaking here from Brian Costello jet news oh wait a second now the Jets already have Jordan I gotta digest this before you tell me because I'm not prepared for quarterback news not for the Jets Jordan Travis is here but we know he's got some issues with the trainers we've already acquired Justin Fields mm-hmm I'm going to be bringing another quarterback like a veteran backup for fields or maybe someone else to compete with him how about and Terrod Taylor's already there how about Terrod Taylor requests a trade or to be released or Tyrod Taylor got traded mm-hmm I'm gonna go with mm-hmm because you got Taylor you got fields and fields that you started I'm gonna go with they have traded to rod Taylor back to the game the Jets have not traded all right let's hear okay this is Justin Fields related Justin Fields has picked his number that he's gonna wear for the Jets oh come on we're gonna go crazy about this is it eight it is not eight think WFAN WFA is 66 nope think about one of our colleagues one of our oh boomer size Justin Fields we're number seven number seven for the Jets so what I would ask is is Justin Fields gonna be the best jet to wear number seven now you're trying to salvage the breaking glass I'll say this I didn't boomer would agree I certainly hope he's better than boomer not all not all his fault by the way I mean he was screwed up by that team he was on but I'm trying to think of the other guys that war number seven did you know what you know gino war number seven top two poor number seven number two by the punter Kenny O'Brien or number seven he passed this number seven around like it's nothing to me boil war number are you kidding me I thought this was boomer's number basically everybody's it was boomer's number you know who were it last year who how son rek come on did he yes yes but now Tampa Bay Buccaneers this is like your number they get out the kickers but at least they just give it to defensive players in special teamers that's right not quarterbacks seven is a quarterback or kicker kind of number yes so it is what it is you think many jet fans are gonna buy Justin Fields jerseys mmm does that jersey go off the show depends on if he ends up starting I think if he starts I think yes okay because if he ends up starting probably right out of the gate not if he starts like week 12 right but if he starts week one and he just how about miraculous rushes for 110 yards and throws for two touchdowns albeit short ones maybe like disguised oh yeah those jerseys are flying hey they fixed them I can't believe I can't believe Tommy broke the glass and you and I are like they treated Tyro Taylor I know and then we find out Justin Fields is wearing number seven so disappointed I have a kind of a not gonna kill him for it but I kind of know Michael's calling from Queens what's up Michael hey good afternoon guys first time call and thank you I appreciate you so I had so uh I had a comment on uh thinking the uh dad sleeping habits of the wife right one thing my wife loved to do was set the alarm an hour early before she had to even be up Michael you have no idea how much I hate when Tracy does that you have no idea and she sets up she doesn't do it she sets three alarms Michael oh and one is like a 645 and then 702 and then 717 like she's got to get up it she's got to get up at 702 or something but like why are you saying the early one I'll tell you what man you know my wife the huge dive fan she loved you she's a currency to take a hold of her siblings and maybe we should get these all together right exactly don't set alarms unnecessary alarms I don't get that strategy like almost warning you up you're gonna be getting up in 10 minutes yep but then you can't even enjoy the final 10 minutes that's right that's exactly right yeah I don't like that I don't like that at all it I mean our the dog gets up anyways because we have a puppy right um millie who's a dot sound and so she gets up at like seven o'clock every day anyways so I never need an alarm because I hear the dog yeah I get that uh real quick yesterday I think he got posted yesterday but Jalen Brunson and Josh are through that podcast I think they do a good job the roommates pod and they had James dole and on as a guest so there were two things I listened to it could you tell if it was current or was it a long time ago oh it's definitely current okay because one of the things they addressed was Kendrick Perkins's recent criticism and I think his criticism was a few weeks ago so when I say recent right they didn't record this a year ago but if that's what I'm asking that they recorded it before the season no no definitely in season but Kendrick Perkins I do want to give you some background has been a Nick supporter he's almost become like the celebrity former player Nick supporter in the media because most people look the best the next that's just the reality so Kendrick's been coming from a good place call him a Nick jockstrap here you go uh but while the nicks were struggling he criticized Brunson and Hart for doing a podcast in the middle of the season basically hey your focus should be on basketball your focus should be on winning your focus shouldn't be on recording a podcast here is Jalen Brunson with James Dolan sitting by his side his boss responding to the criticism not just from Kendrick but from others who say they should not be potting in the middle of an NBA season we keep the main thing the main thing I mean thanks for your your opinion and then we move forward I'm gonna say this they're much worse things you could be doing and sitting here and talking to you guys about stuff I just I just find it funny how like we're supposed to just like go to the gym come home just sit on the couch and just like wait for the next day some like I said before you can't listen to the negatives and then listen to the positives like you gotta you gotta be able to either listen to both or block out both I'm not worried that's all we need to hear right as James Dolan saying I ain't worried I got a defend Jalen Brunson and Josh Hart as long as you're not putting your podcast ahead of the basketball that you're playing they're not or causing things you say to be a distraction which could happen Estrame on green or even Michael Parsons then I don't think it's a big deal and I I totally respect that like these guys play basketball you can do other things I don't have to just sit there and go to the gym and shut up dude when I was playing football I worked at Fox News get up at three in the morning and go to Fox News right so it's possible and I had the best years of my career doing that would you have potted if they were podcasts during your active time would you have started a podcast whether it's about football or something else I doubt it I don't think so which of your teammates would I like listening to podcast right I don't I don't know if I'd love doing one which of your teammates would have hosted a podcast Shockey mmm I can see some pod Shockey was very like he did a lot but he kept it all of them so like nobody knew right so it wouldn't have been Shockey I don't know who it would have been cause someone would have been doing defensive guys straight straight and probably and he'd been great at it because he's entertaining his hell I'm trying to there's no I don't think any of the offensive guys I've played with like Ike was very quiet I'm on he was very quiet I mean I was the loudest one but I want to think I would have enjoyed doing that you think Tom Colffin would have done a podcast I don't know definitely maybe actually some of my line you know who would have and he was only here for a couple of years Glen Parker okay Glenn Parker definitely would have done a podcast because that dude could talk about anything he could take the other side of an argument even if he had no belief in that side of the argument really he's that kind of guy the other thing that was interesting from the podcast was they asked Dolan did he ever come close to trading for a superstar and Dolan gave an answer we'll play for you in which he really struggles to remember who the player is and then you will eventually hear who the player is and then the odd thing he said about said player so ladies and gentlemen here's James Dolan answering the question did you guys ever come close to trading for a star years ago yeah a long time ago a long time ago I gotta even remember it was he ended up playing for the Nets oh right oh shoot great score um it wasn't Grant Hill that the it was a guy out of Toronto Vince Carter Vince Carter right Vince Carter is a great example right that the we were going to do the trade over this is all and the medical team came back and told us that he had a 90% severed Achilles tendon right um and that it would never hold up right and that if once it ruptured right he'd never be the same player and for that reason didn't happen we didn't do the trade right wow and Vince Carter went on to have five seven years is I kept waiting for his Achilles tend to bring it never bro the he is hanging on for dear life putting in 30 40 a night right I was like yeah we certainly dodged a bullet there didn't we he's waiting for me can we stop oh wow they got more out of Dolan than I think I've ever heard him yeah that's a great story they were rumors about the Knicks being interested in Vince because I've made fun of Tommy in the past like hey anytime you guys want to get a star we get him before you and forget the rant I used to bring Vince Carter up all the time so obviously it was out there that the Knicks were interested but how about that the doctors couldn't have been more wrong because V she goes out there probably right where they he just didn't it just never tore he played 15 more years wow like it wasn't like he had a few more years yeah he had the five or six with the nets the five and a half with the nets but then he ended up playing until he was 43 years old I mean my dog's like yeah they told me his Achilles was gonna blow right and his prime years were with the nets so not only did he have his best years with the nets he went on to play for another decade wow I wonder so let's say the Knicks made the trade what year was that it was 2005 where he got traded the early part of the 0405 season he got traded by Toronto to New Jersey so this is the beginning of the nick like disaster because remember they made the playoffs briefly in 004 and Steph was on the team so you do have Steph on Morber if you make the trade and now you've got Steph you got Vince Carter Isaiah is there my assumption is like you'd be better but I still think it would have ended up being a dysfunctional who's the big uh Eddie Curry they made the Eddie Curry trade hurry came in around like oh five I think see we ought to go timeline on this because then they maybe don't make the Eddie Curry trade I'm trying to remember timeline wise but like I think things would have been better for the next don't get me wrong because VC was a tremendous player but I don't think it would have led to anything no but it just it's you don't trade for Vince Carter because you got that medical yet you bring in like Jerome James Eddie Curry Steve Francis Penny Hardaway all guys that had either injury history or were older so but but Vince Carter well that the guy could jump out of the gymnasium we can't have Vince Carter probably on one leg he could jump out of the gym so does this because I know that I still get pissed off about things 20 30 years ago does this piss you off yes really yeah because I think bare minimum Vince Carter's jerseys hanging at the garden I mean he is I mean the nets were tired as no no we're different bro come on I don't want to get into this but we are different okay but if you're hanging his number are you hanging yes I am by the way correct thank you tik he would have played because he played for 15 more years live but he only played with the nets for five and a half more years I don't know how long you would have played for the Knicks well it's just assuming he stays for the Knicks but that's what Tommy's eluding that's what I'm eluding to like if he if he plays for a decade and they become he becomes I don't know iconic of course they would right no because think about what Nick fans say about Carmelo Anthony but I I would retire Melo's number I understand I'm not talking about you you've been respectful of Carmelo but if Vince came to your team yeah and you weren't really good good but he and I gave you the highlight real stuff I don't know because you guys not to criticize y'all too much but they're so and stuck in the 90s but don't you think they he makes them better and they become good especially if they still trade for Melo you have Vince and Melo now now you're going down a road to where I don't know if all that stuff happens it could might you never know but I don't think they're Melo wanted to be in New York did he first of all it was six and a half years later like there's a different generation of that I can't wait for 15 years Vince Carter I know but making the assumption that you make the trade for Vince you're good everything's fine there's no controversies that pop up considering Isaiah Thomas we're in the franchise into the ground that he's still there like he wants to stay and oh by the way you're still getting Melo and stat is like an alternate history that's too weird but you have to just stick with that period of time between 05 and 09 and say okay they're better and he puts up great numbers and he does statistically what he did in Jersey with my team I think you guys maybe get to the first round and lose and then what you putting his number up for I think it just changes yes and I think you just changes you're not putting Melo's number up they are going to are they yes 100 percent I don't know they are definitely retiring Carmelo's Anthony especially because of the relationships Bernards number up there I thought Bernards might have been maybe not but Bernards should be up there as well but Melos is definitely you're talking about a guy that represents the best player of a lot of people's generations I think Melo's number will be up there but one player coming to a franchise could change the entire perception you don't know who's going to sign here just having that stability have a great player like Vince Carter I think would have changed everything yeah it wasn't well that was that would have been a trade so it wouldn't have been a free agency but wasn't that a knock for the Knicks for a long time nobody wanted to come there yeah yeah they would get these I hate saying the word retread but they would get a lot of guys that would just on the back end of their once great careers or they would make horrible moves like a Jerome James and Vince Carter to me you're talking about one of the best players in the NBA they would have had him for like bare minimum five years would have changed a lot of things now I don't think it would have I honestly don't like I think it would have been yeah they would have better but it would not change their fan so what was that I still have an opinion the Nick fan would would look at it differently than I think in that fan right well I'm not looking at as an ed fan I'm looking at as a basketball fan and trying to figure out like what would have been different if he was there and like I said I think they would have been a little bit better yeah but that's why I think you're trying to figure out what Nick what Vince Carter would have been if he would have went to Oklahoma City oh no it's tough it's not easy right because your eyes it leads to the other moves that happens and doesn't happen and you don't know like does the Eddie Curry trade still go down I got to look at the timestamp on when that trade even went and nobody is sicker hearing this news then obviously Vince Carter because you had an opportunity to be a Nick great instead you're you know a net grade could I even respond to him no because I mean let's be honest I mean he's just trolling when you have you noticed that he always brings up the nets I never bring that no but you know I barely talk about him you notice when my when my guy Jimmy Dolan brought it up in the he said this nets great and you have like six basketball guys in the room and nobody could think of the name because they're like nets score I think it's more than he was giving no hints he was just like nets like whoa no he said nets great player and everybody's like they had one of those Jason Kidd was pretty great not a great score though he was more of a distributor did he start by saying score yes oh he said great score was on the nets and everybody's looking around going Kerry Kittle's Gary was good for a while Kendall Gill come on let's go to Chris in Brooklyn what's up Chris hello Chris yeah hello yeah what's up Jamie yeah so Evan I got a question yeah I got a question yep so the mess documentary just came out today with Juan Soto yes how do you feel how do you feel that your voice is on the documentary is it my voice is on the dot I haven't seen it yet so I have no idea yo if you watch it your voice is on maybe 25 50% of the documentary of the voice of the WFEM what am I saying on the documentary oh yo it says oh Soto's not going to be a mat Soto's going to be a mat it's a whole controversy but your voice from the radio is on documentary I wanted to know how you felt why I don't feel anything because I haven't seen the documentary but thank you I look forward to seeing it I did admit when we found out about this documentary I was excited to watch it and I know that there are some med fans forget Yankee fans for a second they're obviously gonna you know what all over it and that's fine but for some med fans it's like hey why are we doing a documentary the guy hasn't played yet a game for the Mets yeah and sometimes you need time to watch a documentary but I'm interested I'm interested to see how this went down and how they pursued him and got him and I look forward to watching it I think it's more interesting if you do it halfway through the season they should have held this what if he was getting booted so he feels he's not going to get booed he's going to be great because that's just who he is but hold on he's great in spring training hold on a second how much does he hit four he's been unbelievable five he's been unbelievable in spring training and a Vince car Vince Carter geez you got to get a VC rascona who works here who's a good Nick fan texted me and I feel good because I like to get the backing of this he's like Vince Carter would not have changed anything for the next so thank you scones for backing me up on that and I love Vince because I don't want anyone to take that as a shot at him I just think the franchise was like think about where the nets were that's why would they why would they have traded for it to get a superstar and thinking it would take them to the next level it wouldn't have and this is going to be disrespectful but I'm just going to give you the facts the new jersey nets went to back to back NBA finals right that was Jason kids team Vince Carter came in and they were good and it was exciting and it revitalized them after losing Kenyon Martin he didn't take them anywhere let's just be real about this and I appreciate Vince and I was at his retirement ceremony and I like Vince but the idea he took them anywhere is a lie that's not true they were in back-to-back finals they made the decision let Kenyon Martin go and yes they helped revitalize things by bringing Vince in so never got past the second round so now you're slandering Vince Carter I'm not I'm telling you the truth T I love Vince Carter I'm telling you the truth so he did what the nets had already done in fact they didn't go as far the idea was coming to the nicks and taking them to the finals where they're going to be a perennial playoff team every year I just think you guys are why why how could you and one breath say well you can't say they would have gotten mellow stat would have still signed here that's six years later okay generation later fine but how could you in one breath say he wouldn't have changed the franchise but then you could say well you wouldn't have both could be true how is what it's just a matter of an opinion it's not oh it couldn't have happened it could have easily have happened it could easily have not have happened in my opinion like you use a lot of words there all i'm saying is what happened with the nets like he didn't to be fair take them anywhere right and again I have a good appreciation for what he did in New Jersey I do I made it my business to be in that building when that number went to the rafters but I got a call like it is like I'm not gonna act like oh my god he took the nets they were in the finals and back to back years right but now you're talking about or we're talking about a hypothetical that was 20 years ago nine what's the point I know what was the first thing he said oh the med documentary oh no it was tiki saying one soda won't get booed let me just tell you this I hope he never gets poo all right do you need it you need luge to do issue a Sean morass rule which is you can't boo him wow different because Sean said Yankees couldn't boo him so that he would be enticed to stay yeah he's trying to 15 years so you can but tiki you're not gonna if he okay if he's wait wait has he ever gotten booed as a whole as a home player i doubt anybody he never got booty Yankee Stadium last year that never happened because he never gave the fans any opportunity did he get booed in San Diego I don't think so I don't think they boo anybody yeah I don't think the Dodgers right they're just happy because it's beautiful and I think in DC he was a king like remember they won the world series he's a baby so I don't think he's ever faced booze but when you come to New York with a monster contract let's not get this twisted here if he got off to a bad start he's going to get booed like this is not a controversial thing and I hope he doesn't hopefully you're right tiki gets off to a great start and he doesn't face what Lindor faced or what Beltran faced or what Piazza faced by the way it's everybody like literally I want being everybody gets booed name me a Mac a star player they acquired their history who didn't get booed I've come up with two one Gary Carter that's because he had a home run on opening day they were off but you get my point for the most part when you come here with big expectations there are going to be booze but if you're right and he never never struggles to start his met career then maybe we get away with this it feels like Friday night because it's dark outside but now now that the clocks have turned the right way it's like fully sunny outside at five o'clock lovely I really believe like the winter's tough for most people most people do not like the cold weather I'm in the minority but I respect the most difficult part of the winter though is not the cold so I actually tried Gemini a couple of days ago the Gemini live where you can talk to it and it is really crazy to have a full-on conversation with this thing I was just messing around you know so I asked it to give me ideas for hosting during the holidays and when it starts giving you results you can just stop it and say okay but what about something low key for a smaller group and then it adjusts to that and you can just keep going until you get an idea you want I think that's what I would use it for the most brainstorming stuff it's so good if you don't know where to start or hit a wall you just go to Gemini it helps you get the ball rolling but obviously you can use it for all kinds of stuff if you want to learn something new you can have it give you advice ask it to explain bitcoin in simple terms or you can have it quiz you on microbiology I mean imagine being a student and you've got this personal tutor on hand it's hard to explain you really just have to play around with it see how it listens to you responds adapt to your style of conversation just try it out it's free I'm not exactly a tech genius but I knew one thing for sure if slash results terms and conditions apply old weather it's the darkness yeah all the time all the time wake up it's dark go to bed is dark constantly not even I mean I go to bed but you get home it's dark yes you leave work at five o'clock it's dark it's bad it's depressing it is that is to me like if you told me that somehow the earth was just going to be different like the whole revolving and the sun and everything was different right all the astrology we learned is changed and we're going to get sunlight more so in the winter than the summer like yeah yeah yeah so we still get the 80 degree weather but we barely get sunlight but in the winter where we get cold weather we get more sunlight people would prefer the winter over the summer but the sun is what creates so how would you change that just hypothetically i'm just hypothetically the point that the light to me is more important than the temperature and that's really what changes people moves obviously that cannot change about suggesting that just that it's more light than it is temperature yeah am i wrong you just go north enough and you get light all the times of places but it's contrasted by periods where it's dark exactly which is what we have like we aren't the north pole but we're pretty north so that when we do hit the dead of winter yeah we barely have sunlight i understand it's not as bad as like the north pole but it ain't good so i'm just saying if we had an alternate universe where the period of time where we had a lot of sun it was very cold out and the period where we had basically no sun it was very warm out people would hate the summer hmm i've confused you guys how would you go to the beach in the summer if it's dark out i guess you wouldn't i don't know that's a deal but people love going to the beach in the pool but i think if it's warm outside and it's dark you're still going to enjoy it you think so because it's warm outside i don't know and you can go outside i think part of the problem with being cold and dark is it you you're stuck inside well the problem is you have both both of them suck yeah and you're stuck inside i can't go outside i'm not saying that part's fun but if you split the baby up where i think if it's warm and you can go outside like at night in the summer you just hang out with your friends outside it's it's so nice so it's dark at 430 even if it's dark and it's warm outside it's it's nice all right so you're you're saying my hypothesis is completely wrong no i just think you're discounting how much people like warmth i think i'm a loser i think you're discounting how much people like like i got you well that's i mean that's that's scientifically based you're right that's my point we do not like the darkness Aaron Rodgers likes it for a week and a half but it sucks anyhow think about what i just said more throughout your weekend and i think by sunday at noon you're going to say evan was right that was a really good point cinco time i made it delete that uh cinco to five i was brought to you by helix wireless connecting everything everywhere and by mercedes bens of morris town visit us online at eight eight eight the bens dot com all right russell wilson is meeting with the giants today as we speak i've not seen an update on how it went if it went well if it went whatever but he is meeting with the giants today so my cinco today is that five quarterbacks that are better options than russell wilson to start for the giants in 2025 you've got five five better options and russell wilson all right all right here we go here we go number five it's shane falco now he had a bad falco he had a bad sugar bowl but you figure the toughness and you know what we don't see in the nfl a lot these days and evan will like this a lefty other than toa who is a lefty quarterback in the nfl these days michael penex june right rucci so it would give you a little bit different looks for the defenses i would uh kick the tires and all shane number four that is the replacements kiana rieves correct number four it's uncle rico i mean like he never had a he never had a career but back in 1982 he used to be able to throw a pig skin a quarter mile so if you have that kind of arm strength just think about it uncle rico to malike neighbors you're talking about 80 or touchdown passes like it's nothing and when you went through an hour of daniel jones where they basically could move the football i'm all for uncle rico ahead of russell i i i vote for bejo really can i have some of your tots napoleon dynamite evan i've seen it it's can i tell you a quick thing about it overrated no it's okay so over the week when i was in florida two weeks ago not the recent one and my kids were there and i was hanging out with my sister and my brother-in-law there is a scene in that movie in which the grandmother or the mother calls caesadillas caesadillas get your damn caesadillas okay you guys familiar with the same course of course so spent my youngest is four years old and obviously it's a little bit of a bilingual household that we have did you like tina who's tina all right never mind keep on we didn't see the movie that's the problem so my brother-in-law and my cousin would continue to say caesadillas uh spent was not having it it's caesadillas and this was a constant like fight quote unquote for two and a half days and they're like no we're just joking it's a movie it's napoleon dynamite expensive it's caesadillas it's not caesadilla and then finally start getting mad about it like no it's caesadillas it's not caesad my brother-in-law's like you should just see napoleon dynamite i'm like no i'm gonna pass yeah just give it to the llama by the way the actor that played uncle rico tik is in white lotus yeah tune in sunday maybe they'll do something on this episode maybe we'll see something this is number three this is my last weekend watching it they're going to that big party so that should be good on the yacht all right number three for me i went back and forth on this one i'm gonna go with vince Howard now you could say matt sarisin you could say jason street there are multiple options here but for me it's vince Howard of course michael b jordan this is friday nay lights the tv show and a lot a lot of people like the movie but i like the tv show more mmm i've never seen it now out of my era out of your era yeah we're in the era of streaming i know but i just never it didn't catch me at the right time the movie was good movie was great with movie is great yeah who would hate him also a good option there as well number two oh again these are the top five quarterbacks that are better options and russell wilson to start for the Giants at 2025 sunshine ronnie bass i mean you could throw it a mile but he can't pitch it three hours so i'm gonna work on that also known as Trevor Lawrence right i mean they're basically the same yeah they've had the same type of careers too if you think of it number one now this one to me number one is obvious this guy was hosia glaciers before hosia glaciers will he be good i was gonna say i mean he's got no other choice he's got a music video third string quarterback that ain't gonna produce bleep and he ends up being a star in the league now they move the team to miami or wherever the hell they moved the team and he stayed by but shows he's got loyalty as well will he be there is one that you're missing one i mean there's a bunch that you're missing but one that jumps out at me who is the great albondi i mean albondi who five was it five four five four five touchdown passes against polkite did you know about that i did not maybe it was four polkite for polkite i almost got it that is one of those shows i'm very curious to rewatch married with children it was on for ten seasons it was very politically incorrect it started in like 1989 i wonder if you don't hold up if you watch it i don't know at the time it was like if you're watching through the lens now it's not pc but at the time it was like you know clinton's america so it was like at the 90s that was pretty it was not the time you felt that way i guess i watched around i'm not telling you how i felt because i was way too young the reaction to that show remember fox was a brand new network yeah there's one of the new shows on it and they were clearly pushing the envelope so i think that they were non pc back then everything pushed the envelope i mean just used to be able to buy a playboy magazine like in the grocery store back then you know what i mean and celebrities were in it right you didn't have to pay whatever only fans to get them there's celebrities in this magazine like butt naked so think about how different the world was that wasn't that long ago no you're right it's a different world but i always like to look at okay obviously today we look at this and say it's completely different what were they saying about that show or that movie then and i think even then married which i think they had like sponsorship issues where sponsors didn't want to touch it right again the new network of fox was attached to it so they were breaking barriers back then doing that show it's true it's true but i haven't seen it so long i wonder how it holds up do you find intrigue in a rewatch or married with children yeah i'd watch it see i remember liking it when i was batty you know i've been rewatching lately i can't believe i'm doing this for like the tenth time like it's one thing to rewatch a show you've only seen once i'm back into the vortex of rewatching Beverly Hills 90210 really yeah you know what caught me i was on youtube the other day that's your team so wait you were pre-teen then yeah yeah i didn't watch a lot of it live i got more of it in rerun than i realized i watched a little bit of it live but it came in 1990 yeah i was seven years old i was not watching it in nineteen and i saw the problem with me is i feel like that was my existence because i was fifteen right it was right it was right it was me it was my my age yeah so it wasn't me because there's no black people on it but you know what i think it was it was it was all the age issues that we had yes it's all the same stuff yeah except it was in Beverly Hills for me it was looking at someone that's older yeah groups of people that are older but the only reason i got sucked back in because i've watched a million times is i was on youtube and there's a 90210 youtube channel that keeps releasing like two-minute clips so all of a sudden i found myself watching two-minute clips and then finally i'm like i want to see the whole damn thing so now i'm fully engulfed in season three the senior year like i can't stop and it's all because youtube gave me like a little bit of a taste and it's on uh paramount paramount plus yes has 902 and now evan if you had albundi as your quarterback i assume you would have him running the wildcat right why was they called the wildcats or something no because albundi was not a quarterback he was a quarterback he was a full back what i thought he threw four touchdowns and ran for four touchdowns i think Dennis and long island has more info on this Dennis what was albundi in high school i thought he was a quarterback he what evan he was a full back wow my most full back he scored five touchdowns in a single game oh okay hey t did you ever score five touchdowns in a single game although although you still be the best option for the giant of quarterback when i think it's available so never scored five three was the most i scored i did that in the NFL my last regular season game my career not bad how a bad way to go out right what this has taught me is my initial point of i need to rewatch mad children is true because i clearly forgot and only because you would really enjoy this what school did he score the four touchdowns against polkai he played for polka john f Kennedy high school abreham lincoln high school you're on the washing your on the right track because you need to you andrew johnson high andrew johnson high andrew johnson high in 1966 hold on a second they named a fictitious high school after that douche i wonder they're actually there's no way there's an actual andrew jack of course not no andrew johnson i mean johnson jackson was worse too but whatever that's different though but he was at least lion eyes for a while yes i mean even to this day some people still like him nobody likes andrew johnson playing for polkai in the 1966 city championship game against andrew johnson high polkai named after james k polka most successful one-term president american history you don't have to agree with it because he's lincoln didn't but he got a lot done that's my point like in a legal war in mexico like he did a lot of stuff back then let's go to christen brooklyn new york what's up chris hey guys can you hear me yeah what's up man it's on your mom okay cool uh i just think this whole giants quarterback thing is kind of embarrassing first off shout out to piki the 2001 nse championship game was the best game i've ever watched in my entire life obviously i'm a giant right that was unreal but um how are we not bringing in dames winston at this point and sitting around waiting on these two guys on canes ready to pay down 30 to 40 million dollars a year when this guy james winston in my opinion in my opinion is a better football player at this point than both of those guys will be cheaper and will make more sense as a bridge these guys are high profiles it'll take so much once you have to go to the younger guy now we got to deal with the press and all that stuff with james winston we know what we're gonna get this guy's gonna give us a really good game you're gonna give us some turnovers right but it's gonna be something that we can justify going to the younger guy now you're right you may and it's a good point i think the emphasis on winning and having success as a team is what gives puts caution and i think the minds of the executives over at the giants right now because james winston you're right he's gonna be entertaining as hell and he's gonna win some games but he's also gonna lose some and if he loses too many then they all get fired that's the problem but chris's point is dead on if you if you actually are drafting a kid that you want to be your future whether that's one of these two guys at the top or jackson tart in the second round or late late first round if you decide to move back in and and ensure that you're gonna get him then you do have a excuse yeah and depending on how he plays that young quarterback if he's really good it might save you all of that all of that is completely fair especially when you look at the price tags like he mentioned james winston you're gonna get him for nothing i mean you look at the contract mac jones just signed with san francisco well what did james sign for last year not a lot i mean basically nothing meanwhile aran rogers is probably getting forty to forty five million dollars a year james winston made four million dollars last year yeah that's it which is nothing and he's probably maybe he'll make five this year or or maybe or maybe even less than four right so you get someone cheaper but here's the ultimate problem the ultimate problem with james winston versus aran rogers and james winston versus russell wilson ask yourself this question ignore the excitement ignore the age ignore the price tag forget all that for a second ask yourself this simple question who under center gives you a better chance to win football games and the answer's not going to be james winston russell wilson still gives you a better chance to win games now aran rogers still gives you a better chance to win games now and ultimately i think that's what is driving this early search that the giants are on it's why it started with matthew staford it's why it's currently at aran rogers and it's why russell is the backup to that plan because i got to win games so i get the appeal of james winston i do but i think ultimately when you're confused about why they're doing things i think they're trying to win football games yeah last year james winston threw 13 touchdowns and 12 interceptions that's a lot and rush through less interceptions than that in the last two years combined right in seven games 13 touchdowns 12 interceptions that's a lot of turnovers it is a lot of turnovers toll-free numbers 888 808 1019 in less than two weeks the baseball season will begin it will start with a home game at yankee stadium the Mets will play their home owner a home opener a week later i gotta figure out how i gotta handle this because i am the commissioner of my fantasy baseball league and we have keepers in that league and the deadline is today it is now 535 like when i say the deadline is today isn't that like the close of business that is so you two tiki bobber and tommy luge hour i don't have keepers from you guys what do you mean you don't have keepers from me shawn bores oh wait he's on vacation well hold on let me check my text messages he did write something what did he say we're obviously keeping franando tatish jr and edwin dias for those who don't know i am co manager with shawn moray that's right it's called a thumb and a pro bowler what a great team there so there are three keepers in the league and then you lose the draft pick of where they were originally selected yes so shawn rights were keeping franando tatish jr and edwin dias obviously have tiki pick the third keeper who were my option i haven't even looked at that last year jr raster you've got connor wang the catcher of the red socks uh he'll be a 12th rounder if you want to keep him louise anhal akuna 11th round he would also qualify as an na we do allow one non uh you know kind of minor leaguer who has not qualified as rookie to be kept hey sus lizardo as a 17th rounder max shurzer as a 13th rounder yeah no thank you joey or tease that's a good one as a 12th rounder and jonathan india as a 16th rounder so they're not great options but can you pick somebody so i can put this to bed i mean i'm tempted to go with louise anhalakuna because he's a prospect and keeping prospects can pan out for you you can also just redraft him and maybe even draft him later yep so what where was he he was 11 oh no so i'm not gonna do that joey or tease was gonna play every day in milwaukee 12 about connor wang connor wang is a catcher at 12 that's not bad he's probably the best option tommy can you give him some advice and shawan advice even though shawan's not here well who would you keep of that selection of baseball players who does joey or tease play for the brewers i'm not asking you for if i didn't even know what tv plays for well no i just was for context i would keep akuna really yeah here's why it's a couple of things number one i think he's gonna be great but i'm losing an 11th round pick but here's why tikka he's not you're not doing yeah i know what you're doing and it's not right but finish your point i don't criticize him yeah i know what he's doing i don't like what he's doing you know i get this at home he wants he wants him doesn't he he's gonna draft him in a 10th round no so think about who's in the league tik mostly yank he met fans it's so valuable to have one of those players that's on one of those teams because anybody will want to trade from so it's a good chip to have even if he doesn't pan out there will be people that are dreaming that he could be like his brother and you will be able to get a whole friend now here's the real problem with this and i feel bad so i got a text message last night from a friend of mine who was complaining about tommy on the radio which i wouldn't bring to air but i'm bringing it to air because it has to do with louis and elikunya and basically how he you were over the top and saying just the way the ball comes off his bat these guys are stunned this was on the luke hour last year this was the luke hour last night and he was very upset with you for being over the top about akuna which by the way is fine to your opinion i got to wish you a good guy but the fact that less than 24 hours later to clearly prove your point you have to say akuna yeah because he just said he's the next Roberto Clemente last night so i don't think it's a genuine opinion i think you're just backing up positive but his opinion is that because we're met fans if he gets a chance to play because of whatever jack mcneil done for whatever period of time and bret baity is a bust that met fans will really want him i mean that's possible i met fans in our in our league yeah i don't think that's crazy but he's also like not going to be on the team to start the year and all like you don't know that though i don't know that was in n_a_ antique n_a_ you could stash the guy it doesn't count you that's right he doesn't even count as a third keeper not to get in the week so if you want to keep a coon you're great you still need to get a third keeper so who do you want Connor Wong he suits look and you probably should go lizardo 17th pound it's pretty heavy is he he's not good he's not good he's coming off a bad year he's that was the promised your team what is he 33 uh no he's 27 he's young oh who am i thinking he's young now he's all good and what about you luge you haven't released your keepers yes it's the close up in a second my secretary was supposed to forward this over to you i got nothing they didn't do that i got nothing let me uh let me check now they were supposed to send this to you if i don't hear your keepers in the next two minutes i don't respond to threats i'm going to take all your picks away no i wouldn't do that i wouldn't allow you to keep people i don't like chasing people i got three guys on my list i'm not including tiki and shawn because they're in a weird spot i see but there's luge in two other people okay all i ask is send me your keepers before the close of business on friday march 14 it is 538 couple things business is closed what are you waiting for business there's no advantage to wait you don't get anything for waiting this is i want to write it down in my document so i can take the picks away on the yahoo fantasy site tonight all right well first of all nobody works on friday so there are no business hours so really midnight is the actual deadline sure i have lizardo yeah you have lizardo i don't know is that guy even in the league i mean who knows it's ready to the phyllis number one why is there even a deadline it takes two seconds to enter these things so i give them your the deadline so that the league pool can be revealed to everybody okay these are the guys in the draft that's the way it's been forever i know but we probably don't need a week to stare at names i agree i was always good for like two three days okay people in the league insisted that they wanted like fair enough a week and a half to learn who's in the league kind of like you because you don't know what team lizardo is on or do you want these so you got to do okay and the other thing is you said you'd have to chase me i work with you every day you don't have to you know where i am you can find me whenever okay it's 540 where i'll let you know next week why would you want me to keep lizardo enough with this guy it's seriously other fellow i'm just looking at him now he picks up a 5 ERA last year it was terrible okay he'll keep lizardo can you keep somebody there goes t what the heck is wrong with you told you to keep a coup and i want to listen to me give me counter walk counter walk yes and i'm kounya put me in a day i'm right i want kounya's and i always to catch your teeth counter walk yes yes boston so i want everyone out there who runs their leagues to see what i have to deal with all i'm asking is these are the rules give me a team's i'm chasing you and now it's well it's two other guys i didn't even know about it until 30 seconds ago what you gave the answer i'm happy with you and shaun's on vacation bathing like a beep well having a good time but i don't get why i have to chase people who are your keepers did you did you give your keepers to the commissioner yes i am the commissioner but how do we know that i am keeping Julio Rodriguez i'm keeping trade turner great and i'm keeping jackson holiday those are my three keepers i was close to keeping the grum but there was an a meeting of people saying evan you got to get off this it's time to let go so i've decided to let go jacob the grum so yes i i broke my keepers down two weeks ago there you go all right i am keeping hosey remieras hosey remieras aussie albies aussie albies thank you well that's only two you need a third i'll let you know no no i let you know i'm getting this done now i need everyone's answers now so i can move on with my day you and i need to have a three-way i got to think about it i'm back to you know it's funny this is the first time i'm really thinking i'm just resigning as commissioner i don't do it anymore why because it's distracting you from actually trying to win because i what you never have that's true it's more that i work hard to like do the league every commissioner knows this yes and i'm sick and tired of chasing people it's annoying it's not really even you tommy because you're more just having fun on the radio of course it's other people i am and it's like why do i have to do this like why do i have to have another job in my life i already do this job i do the reco no i because you don't father it's because you don't sleep well i want to see you you have time to do this i don't want to do it anymore because everybody else wants to get eight hours of sleep tommy you're fine with three tell me would you like me i i i'd rather have a kid's i got a great idea what paul rosenberg is not in our league and he's doing a great job run on the board how about a commissioner who's not in the league oh you're like that i do without without a vested interest yeah in 18 he can run things very fairly what's the salary for the position zero it's an internship zero oh by the way this is some great information forget the fantasy stuff i'm i'm moving on um opening day is in two weeks yes now every team of course has a home opener the Mets season opener is on the road their home opener is a week later according to game time which is this app where you can buy tickets based on that app which i think is indicative of seekie can stop up and all that the average prices for each team's opening day okay one through thirty so which baseball team do you think has the cheapest average price for their home opener for the home opener the home opener the cheapest average price so that doesn't it's not just opening day it's the home opener i'm going i'm going to say oakland it's i would have thought the same thing the oakland days are actually 14th they're middle of the pack what i think the people of sacramento are very excited about well you know what you know what you're right that's my bed it's also not a big stadium novelty though it's a novelty and it's a smaller stadium so the demand is far different than a bigger stadium let me so the oakland days are 14th with an average get in price you ready for this not get in price an average ticket cost right of 188 dollars wow how about that it's a novelty yeah it's like this is going to be short term let's soak it in while we can i'm going to i'm going to actually convert and save the white socks the white socks very solid guess what's your guess uh lugee i was going to guess tampa but they fit all the criteria of sacramento small stadium novelty tampa bay is right behind the a's at 15th yeah with an average getting it 186 and you're right it's not just a novelty it's a smaller ballpark right there's few tickets right all right so i'm going to go miami nailed it nailed it nailed it all because you know nobody's on that team they're going to trade alcantara and south beach there's better things to do maybe to the Yankees maybe well probably to the match they're more prosperous the marlins are okay i'll shut up but i'm just telling you the truth uh the marlins 73 dollars still kind of expensive but they're dead last the white socks was your guess they're 23rd now let's go to the top who has the highest average price ticket for their home opener inmate there's one thing that will Baltimore the Baltimore Orioles are 10th at two hundred and ten dollars a ticket they are 10th how about you tommy i'm gonna go los angeles the dodgers the los angeles dodgers are third surprisingly they're third they are two teams ahead of them can i guess again of course three seventy two is the average price which again very expensive boston the boston red socks that's a great guest they're eight at two twenty five hit who are the two teams i mean with a higher average priced home opener ticket than the los angeles dodger Yankees the Yankees are 13th 13th 13th at a hundred and ninety nine dollars exactly old yeah well you think it's the cold and it's the lack of i mean they won the pennant last year so they that's surprising i bet this changes as we get closer but you think it's the weather i for the Yankees i would the fact that they're 13th i would say it's the weather i don't know if it's the weather i mean that's so it's not so though it's not of course it wouldn't be not can i guess again yeah of course the mezzies the new york match are numero uno the match they're listening to uncle stevie aren't they he's wonderful the new york mattes have the highest average ticket price on the resale market for their home opener are you ready for the number four hundred and thirty five dollars a ticket wow that is insanity i watch it on tv what if you got a freebie four thirty five there's only one other team in the four hundreds for their average price ticket for their home opener and if it's not the Dodgers and it's not the Astros are great guests their fourth at three sixty eight Padres the Padres that's a very good guess there where the hell are they they're 17th at 173 oh it's too much apathy you're right that's like Miami it's like the way better things to do and they love baseball but there's better things to do right the second one is very surprised because there's nothing about what they've done in the off season that would jump out at you but they've been successful weather won't be an issue because it's indoor i didn't say that and so well there's not going to be an issue i was gonna say fillies the Atlanta Braves are where the hell are they on this list so they're down so the fillies in 19th at 160 dollar 160 i have no idea cubs the Braves at 22nd no the cubs did cold they cubs did a lot though the Chicago Cubs are 16th they did a lot this off season it's not the Cubs the answer Cardinals Texas Rangers what mmm they're opening against the Red Sox if that means anything so it's a good opponent but the Texas Rangers two years removed are a year and a half removed from a world's championship four hundred and thirty one dollars on their average ticket price for their home owner oh home opener the Mets a one the Rangers are two the Dodgers are three the Astros are four the Tigers are five and then this is weird the Reds and the Pirates are six and seven how about that reds i can see tradition tradition and there's some really interesting players yeah Francona now their managers as well right as their manager Ella Della Cruz yep but he's still 100 bases last year for sure and Pittsburgh you get to see skeins pitch i assume now plead my ignorance here this is resale meaning secondary market right this is not the team okay because they say that that would be smart to have their ticket prices behind oh no they do because people but that's smart oh let me tell you because people are going to pay it for Soto they are well i it's crazy like the Mets and a lot of teams do this they they change their price based on the opponent and the day of the week so it's called dynamic pricing right the Met prices for opening day but that but that's walk up tickets right no i'm a season ticket holder i'm saying it for me as a season ticket holder it's dynamic and i pay a number at the beginning of the year no i do what i'm saying is the the price per ticket varies oh based on the opponent in the day of the week at the beginning of the year they they like detail this out yeah i got it it's good for resale because i can't go to every game so you want to know hey what's the price of this game my opening day tickets are like over three hundred dollars and i do not sit like in these high level seats like my average price is 80 90 bucks something in that range but you do have a great seat thank you oh i think it's the best seat in the house but it's not priced as if it's this luxurious seat so i don't know if this means Steve Cohen's going to get his way that the Mets are going to have a big attendance here but it certainly shows you the crazy excitement that the met fan has for opening day right because that is an absurd average ticket price like four hundred and thirty five dollars a ticket now rosy you go to like every opening day what are you gonna do you're not paying four hundred thirty five dollars and you know one of my friends who already we purchased tickets immediately so we will get the face value at like one fifteen one twenty average wow and by the way that's on the cheap end yeah one fifteen and one twenty because i'm telling you they priced a crap out of this so i think there's a good indication on the animalistic excitement that the met hat met fan has for opening day that they are right now the kings of the average resale ticket price for opening day it's a weird thing to be the king of but it does show you the excitement that people have been just like the Jets Mets are winning the all season you got to throw in that kind of camera is it because Shawn is in here so you're like let me just jet sign somebody a punter oh that's good Austin McNamara Texas Tech product they brought in that guy no game experience oh he's just there to compete with all right just can't complain try to beat the best punter in football that's it let's go to robin greenlong what's up Rob what's up Rob hey it's great show today high school math future here i have fun um you really shouldn't be talking about those average ticket prices because those suites and those expensive seats really steward and um you know you should be talking about the median the median ticket price because i doubt it's a nowhere even close to four i mean great in the only reason i the thing i'm skeptical about with your point is i don't think you're able to buy like the high-end sweet tickets on that app but i'll go check i'll get a better idea if i'm gonna go on seek geek right now and see if that really matches up like is right now the the get-in price at seek geek is two hundred dollars so it shows you it's pretty damn high that's the get-in price but but those are 75% of the tickets most of the tickets that are for sale are in the upper deck are not in the you know most of the tickets for sale are you know in the five hundreds in the four hundreds very few tickets on you know perron sale they're you know down by the you know you make a good point robin because some of these stadium ballparks like they don't have a ton of sweets yeah so it's it's just going to pull it down median is better because it's just it's it's right in the middle i'm looking at the sections that i sit in or at least my area i sit in three eighteen three nineteen three twenty so good seat yeah not the highest end ticket you're right behind a plate so right but it's not a club you're not getting like you know free food or anything like that basically the average price is in the seven hundreds which is insane wow seven hundred eight hundred dollars if you go higher to the four hundred level you're looking at the mid-force some in the fives that is insane yeah i'm talking about this and if you go downstairs it's over a grant if you want to go sit downstairs feel level you're talking about over a thousand dollars opening day for this is just opening day yes just opening day let's go to zack and mass of people his act hey what's going on guys love the show thank you man um so yeah absolutely um so yeah we're going to talk about the uh mental tendons i personally i do think it's going to be um much better this year as for me i mean i went to probably 10 15 games last year um i actually got a 30 game package for this year so i'll be there a lot more i know there are a lot of people that are just like me i'm 25 years old nice um that are going to be doing it i'm going to um basically every friday saturday um or a thursday type of game uh basically all the big big big game um but i'm sure i'll be there even more than that so i i feel like it's going to be a really good year for attendance wise and i mean people are so excited for one yeah i know you should be excited i was talking to my rep we got the ticket um about a week before we even heard about the solo news and after getting the tickets the price jump was crazy yeah yeah no it's well you made a good decision then yeah that's for sure that's actually great for like young professionals in new york oh absolutely it's a 30 game pack because you're not who's realistically going to go to more than that unless you unless you you're not working from their own antique or you're entertaining yeah well i can't even go to that many more games like there was a time in my life where i would be able to go to that higher number than that 50 60 70 games but now living in westchester kids a wife like my goal is do you get to it depends on the year and it's not because of their success a lot of it is weather related because if i'm taking my kids as much as i don't mind sitting in the rain people know what i'm talking i can't pull that one off i think last year i got to about 35 right which is still a good number including opening day we almost got fired why because of that bleeped yeah spike asking and now i feel bad saying the word that i used for spikes in that day though i did say it into a telephone last when you're i will come back with your calls 88880 are you an adult or are you a child a child spike answer your question we don't want to grow up yeah toys since when are you not at work today please she's when are you not at work today now i got lucky this year because the Mets play in the afternoon and the Yankees are playing in the afternoon as well it's a very weird schedule start this year because when the Yankees open at Yankee it's a three o'clock first pitch the Mets are in houston and they play at four o'clock right the following week it's the opposite where the Mets start at three o'clock and the Yankees are in Pittsburgh starting at four o'clock right it's a lot of afternoon baseball i mean are we even doing a show i mean we're doing a short one that's for sure hey see you guys have fun at the game i got another text message from a guy who's like the deadline is midnight right well what is up with this what is up with you why does the deadline have to be admittedly your tires don't want to work today that's what it is it's not bad there's no work it's it's like case a deal at night no no boutique he gets a name a baseball player's name sent to him and that's it no that's not true you know you know that's not true right he's got to input it into the system first of all i've got to write down the guy's name on a list that i send to everybody so everyone gets access to the keepers then i got to go on the Yahoo website and take the pick away and insert the player because those are the rules of the league it's it's not nothing and then he's got a fine time for his dang quesadillas my quesadillas case and then i got to record a reco brogue you're reacting to clay homes being the opening day starter lord how mercy and then both of my kids have major wrestling plans tonight spence whose four is pumped up because the book much like a lot of people out there i got ww 2k 25 and he's booked a lot of matches for this evening's festivities how long do they take how long did what take the matches in the video game yeah how long do they take sometimes like 35 minutes yeah come on what do you want to do well first of all you don't understand wants to explore every match type and it needs to be like activity like we're out of the ring we're in the ring i hit the referee he hit the referee and it's like it's it's kind of scripted because i'm not going to beat him but i'm not going to lose a media yeah so it's like a 35 minute match and then my oldest son wants to do the wrestling figures he's got all these matches booked i got a busy ass night and you're telling me i got a way now where to tell me which keeper you're going to keep this can you tell me so i can do it this is what you get for getting your kids into wrestling i know isn't it fun i haven't reminded me of your life like it took over my life when i was that age really dude we used to break my mom used to hate us because we broke jump off the couches i know they're doing that and into the couches and break the edge of the couch dangerous oh man we're in
