There will be no personal nor direct attacks on anyone and I would ask that you please try to keep down the loud cheering and the clapping. There will be no booing and no unruly behavior. With that, this is painful and it will be for a long time. After all, these are a couple of high-stepping turkeys and you know what to say about a high stepper. No step too high for a high stepper. This is midday mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM Talk 1065. Well, Sean's a tough guy. I mean, I think everybody knows that. Sean, he took some licks, he hangs in there. Yeah, what's wrong with the beer we got? I mean, the beer we got drank pretty good, don't it? Did you hear what I said? So this is a babe council. I had no doubt about them. That doesn't suck. If you don't like it, you're bad. Last question. Were you high on drugs? Last question, kiss my ****. Right, here we go. FM Talk 1065 at midday mobile on this Thursday. Glad to have you along and we'll get into all the phone numbers and show schedule and all that stuff coming up in just a few minutes. But first he's about to get on a plane, which is a daunting task right now with where the airports have been. We're in check in with AO1's Congressman Jerry Carl as we get started. Congressman, thanks for your time. Oh, my pleasure. Great. Great talking to you, Sean, as always. You are yesterday. I attended the speech from Prime Minister Netanyahu. I did. It was a great speech. It was very motivating. I think he stepped on a few toes intentionally the way he wanted to. I think we were very well done. I've been with him a couple of times over in Israel, so I know his personality. He's just not wanting to back up or or take much of a punch without punching back. And I think you did a good job yesterday. I was a little embarrassed by some of my Democrat friends, but not all of them joined in there and did that. There were there were a few that stood up and cheered him on and I appreciate the ones it did. Now, what is worse, the ones that showed up that held signs or something like that or those what? I mean, it was quite a number of Democrats that did not show up to attend the event of the first place. Yeah, I saw a list of, I think, 40 members just in the House. I don't know about the Senate side, but you know, they're really hung up on that. I mean, I got a call today. A bunch of folks jumped in my face over the my view on Israel and I just I've reminded them what my grandmother taught me. The Jews are scouts, chosen people. You've got to leave them alone. Well, there's two parts of it because while that's going on, you had thousands and you talked about it earlier in the week. You said to be they told you all to be ready for big protests going on. Thousands of pro Palestinian protesters were there for the National Mall to Union Station. And, you know, the fact that they would disagree with you protest with words, I'll support that all day long. But what I saw yesterday in pictures and then your video you went to Twitter with last night, I don't know how that's going to change a single heart and mind. You know, I don't either. And in that place, we got there that whole started started on the floor. There's some of the Navy's seals. There's several special forces members. And they were chit chatting about, you know, the flag's not being put back up. And and I said, hey, I find flags will go put them up. So people who didn't see this last night, what happens? So in the protest, in the defacing of a lot of monuments and all that, they also brought the American flags down and put Palestinian flags up, right? Yeah, raise the Palestinian flag. So, of course, law enforcement did a great job containing it as much as they could. It was a pretty large crowd there. But we saw the pictures of no flags being up there. And we just it bothered us all. So again, it was organic. And one member talking to the other member. And I went and stole. I mean, I borrowed three flags that we took care of that this morning. And we walked over there. We just as a group. There was about five of us started walking and several jumped in the cars. And I think one was even on a motorcycle. But we got there with about 15. We didn't know how we were going to get flagged up there once we got there. And being a salesman, I am, I just walked at the police officer. And I just told him, I said, sir, we're here. We're we're the congressman from from over to the house side. And we come over here to put flags that would you like to help us? And they were quick to say we would love to be honored to. So we had law enforcement out there protecting us, putting them up. You know, there's always more to people hollering at you. But but we got them up. We got the pledge flag. And we got the it was just just a special moment. You know, and I love what my comps director printed this is, you know, we got we got plenty of these old old flags. Just, you know, we will keep replaced them. We will keep replacing them. Yeah, it's tore up over there, though. Well, that's what I want to say too. In addition, and good for y'all putting the American flag back up where it belongs, not the Palestinian flag. But the defacing like the one one video that struck me this morning, the Liberty Bell replica that's there. I mean, defazed and then talk about that. I mean, the pictures we're seeing. I mean, this is big time. Yeah. So the one thing I saw spray painted on there was death to America. And I'm thinking, God, these are Americans that are that are doing this. It's okay to disagree, especially with, you know, politicians and politics. That's what it's all about is disagreeing and trying to come up with a somewhat of a solution between the two. But I mean, these folks are radical. I mean, they are radical. And so many of them have come in across the border. I mean, they're here illegally. You know, folks don't want to talk about that. Well, I mean, is there any gauge of the people to protest in there that were American citizens? I mean, there's no way to know. But I mean, any talk there? No, there's no way. No, you know, being an American is not the color of your skin or the language you speak. You know, we have a lot of good solid Americans that struggle with English and don't look like you and I. And that's okay. So you can't judge it that way. I don't know. I've been interested in citizenship. Yeah. You know, we're we're a melting pot. If you're saying people are coming across a you're saying people are coming across the border. I'm just wondering how much of that is people coming in, you know, to do that protest or is it, you know, just American citizens that have this. Some of these some of these protesters who say they're a protest, they're paid. They're paid. You'll never convince me otherwise. You recognize faces in the protesters. So it but it was it was their day. It was their moment. They and they had a first member right to be there not to tear stuff up. That's what I'd like January 6. Yes. Every right to be there. But don't tear stuff up. It seems so simple, Congressman. That's where I am. I mean, like it's it's an uncomfortable position probably for people to hear me say that. I would defend these doofuses to, you know, to protest all they want and say get out of don't fund Israel, you know, Benjamin Netanyahu is war criminal, whatever they want to say, say those things. But to come and deface that property. I don't know why you're not. I mean, if you if I went up there and spray painted on the Liberty Bell replica, they would they'd haul me off. And I don't know how many got arrested. I mean, I keep getting a lot of requests won't know if we arrested anybody. I truly don't know. It don't they'll have that cleaned up by Monday. They will. They there's great people here. They say that's all they do is remove graffiti. But but the whole point is, you know, the Palestinian flag is down on American flags back up. And I'm telling you standing there with all of those. I think there are only two of us that weren't special forces. It was a pretty cool experience. I mean, it was it was it was a moment. It was nothing planned. It just organically came together. It was one of those things y'all said, Hey, let's get let's get old glory back up where it's supposed to be. Amen. All right, all right, we did appreciate we'll talk more about this later. I know you got to hop on a plane now, but I appreciate that update and people can see more of that video over on your Twitter feed and look at it from last night. Harrison will talk soon. Thank you. There goes Congressman Karl. We're coming right back. Crafts and calls at text of 23430106. This is Midday Mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM Talk 1065. By 1217 FM Talk 1065 Midday Mobile on this Thursday, say hello to my buddy David McCraury at LCM motor cars and always new inventory in there. But pick a few out for us to check out. What are we talking about here? What do you want me to come look at? Well, you know, yesterday we were talking about we had a few vehicles coming in. We did. They got here this morning. This was for your last night. We got a 2014 GMC Acadia center buckets roof nav championship red leather guts. Really nice truck. We got a traverse that came in. It's got center buckets. It's cloth interior, but it is hard loaded. I mean, center buckets for cloth is not an unusual thing to see. And then we got a Dodge Ram pickup truck. It's a double cab with a heme that can be bought under 10 grand. It's got the old it. Remember, it's got a heavy in it. Right? That was the old ad campaign. It's got the heavy in it. All right. So that's a few to check out. But if we want to check out the whole inventory, give us directions to see them in person and online. LCM motorcars.com, you can go online, check them out. We'll get pictures up there on them today. You come see us in person where on Highway 90 at Plantation Road, one mile south of ITNX at 15A. Or you can give us a call to 51-375-0068. Good stuff, David. We appreciate it. We'll talk again soon. Thanks, bud. All right. David McCreary, check it in from LCM motorcars. And you know what? We'll get the telephone lines warmed up here. And we added that stuff. So cute. While the telephone lines are warmed up, let's do this. I want to give a family four pack. If you want to take the whole family to go see the keep the party going tribute to Jimmy Buffet featuring the coral reefer band. Now, tickets are on sale now at the Worf Box office in ticket master.com. But the show, your chance to win those family four pack of tickets is right now at 343-0106. Looking for color number six, 343-0106. The show coming up Thursday, August 1st at the Worf Amphitheater. It's a tribute to Jimmy Buffet with the likes of Mac McAnally, also Homeboy, Will Kimbro, and a whole bunch more. And the event supporting Jimmy Buffet's nonprofit charity, Singing for Change, that show coming up August 1st at the Worf Amphitheater, color number six, that four pack of tickets is yours. All right. To the text line here, okay. Superbomb says, "Jerry Carl is all over TikTok. Thank him for hanging our flag back up. God bless America." Yes. So I saw him on Twitter, but I guess he's, I bet you that Zack or somebody, or Caitlyn or somebody at his crew that ticked, I don't, I got to ask him that, it was Congressman TikTok. But yeah, that video, if you go see it, like Superbomb said, if you're on TikTok, or if you go to Twitter or X, like I do, look at that video, it's pretty organic. I saw it last night saying, "Good for you, Congressman," to just take a video with his phone real quick while that was going on. But again, I know people so how you shouldn't be allowed to be, of course, they shouldn't be allowed to protest. Benjamin Netanyahu, whether you like or not, they should absolutely be allowed to protest. Come on. It's what we do here. It doesn't mean you have to like the protest. But when they start defacing, multiple things, if you look at the pictures, I mean, I, I was going through the pictures, I mean, at three or four different places, the one that got the Liberty Bell recreation or whatever, you know, the, it's not the original Liberty Bell, but it's the one that's there, the replica that's there in Washington, that one at Union Station, plus a bunch of different monuments in town, just to, and then people say, "Well, it depends on what they write on." No, it doesn't. Don't don't deface the stuff. Hold the signs up, holler whatever you want. Here's the story. The story from Politico said, "As Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu addressed Congress, thousands of pro-Palestinian protesters marched from the National Mall to Union Station, occasionally clashing with scores of Capitol Police and local police officers lining up in riot gear, protesters deface the fountain and the bell outside Union Station, which I'm, which is too close to the, the coolest hotel, I think. I know there's some cool ones in Washington, but the Phoenix Park Hotel is very close to there, placed at a state a couple times in Washington, it gets you close enough to kind of get around. It's right across from Union Station, but you can walk to the Capitol pretty easily from there. It's real close. So don't mess with the Phoenix Park Hotel and the awesome Irish pub there called the Dubliner. Don't mess with it. I said, "Protesters to face a fountain in the bell outside Union Station, writing Hamas is coming, and BB is a," Can I say that word? A B word. And then all Zionist or the boy B word in spray paint and marker, they also burned the American flag and the effigy of Netanyahu before returning to the ball. You burned the, it's as distasteful as I find it. You have the right to, you know, you burn the flag, also have the right to bring a gigantic big bucket of water and pour it on your head, say, "Oh, I'm scared you were going to catch on fire." You know, burn your effigy of Netanyahu. He's not, not my president. He's, yeah. So I mean, do that. Just, just, how are you changing hearts and minds when you're defacing things permanently? Well, you know, until they get it cleaned up, defacing monuments inside inside Washington. How does that make me go? You know what? I had y'all all wrong. I had y'all wrong, but dumb me. I, now it, and for somebody like me that can see both sides of it, believe in Israel's right to defend themselves, but I think Israel has overstepped in, in, in their response. So I'm this kind of in-between person, right, that sees both sides. Definitely my side is more towards Israel defending themselves, but I'm not blind to some of the things that have happened that the way Israel's conducting the war that I'm like, y'all aren't, y'all need to do better than that. You're killing people that you shouldn't be killing, right? But you take somebody like me and then you go do that crap and you think you're going to, you're changing my mind to your side? You're full. All right. And Lynn, I don't know if we're not updating in here or on the, so well, you might have to pass me information on the phones. I don't know where it's going. It's, all right, I got you. I got you going another route here. We got to re-string that line here between the two to where Lynn is and where I am. Okay, good. So we'll go to the phones three, four, three, zero, one, zero, six. I'll come back to the text. I'll go to the actual telephones first here. And James, okay, James, we got to talk last week, the official troll of the Jeff Boor show joining me on midday mobile. You're, you're moonlighting on Jeff, you know, when you're on my show, James, but, you know, I, you know, he won't let me own, sir. He won't let me own. Oh, okay. I come to you. And again, thank you. You got, you, you have a great show and, and congratulations to the nappies for you guys. You guys have a, a great program. So I'm actually coming to this question for you, sir. I'm going to hang up when, when I ask this, and coming from a very selfish perspective. I am four years real. Okay. I really am. I, I believe in, in, in them having the ability to, to exist, to, to be able to be free. However, here is where my perspective comes in from the selfish side. I'm a veteran. We have nearly 400,000 veterans on our streets, right? And we have billions to send the Israel and to send over here to, to Ukraine. Okay. So, so my thing is, is, yeah, let's help them. We can help them militarily, but when we're spending money like that, if we have American servicemen that have served in our own our streets now, and to lead the other slap in the face, and I'll hang up and listen, remember when we had the wildfires over there in Hawaii. I do indeed. Those Americans got 700 dogs. That's it. James, this stuff you're not lining up on, I'm lining up with you 100% on this. And they sweat that whole thing under the rug. Like that, I know, I'm a troll, right? I know they, they look at me and view me that way. However, you know, again, I am not for Biden or Harris. I think she's, she's a mistake with this country. Again, you know, I'm not voting, you know, wise and independent. I just can't support either one. But again, thank you for your show, sir. And I, for the time, and I will hang up and listen. Thank you again. Thanks, James. You know, on the, on the, on the wildfire thing too, that maybe I just missed something, but it seemed like that, that story was just went away so very quickly. And like you said, they got only 700 bucks, but the move to be like for people not to come back in stories I heard, I think I was listening to an interview with Tulsi Gabbard. So she's Hawaiian, right? And she was detailing some of the things like it's, I don't have all the words in front of me, but like they're dragging their feet to let people get back to their homesteads, maybe not hooking up power or water in those areas. Now, could that be because they infrastructure stuff? I don't know. Their theory is trying to make it to where these people don't move into their homes. So those properties can be sold to higher bidders. But they really got hosed on that deal for sure. Yeah, I remember thinking, okay, this is a big, big story if that had happened anywhere else. And then it kind of went away. And our homeless veterans, you know, you're looking at, I mean, some of the numbers 40, 40,000, 35, 40,000 on the streets around this country, people say a lot more out there. Yeah. And, you know, that's something that we take very seriously around here, working on veterans issues. But yes, could the money be better allocated? Sure. What they'll tell you, James, they'll tell both of us, they'll say, listen, we got to spend the money in Ukraine to keep Americans from having to be in theater. It's that whole argument. Yes, take care of your own. That's that, you know, James, even though you said you can't vote for Trump because of your some objections, has pretty Trump-esque. And the idea that you're talking about is America first. All right, Scroverine said there's a way to know the identity. After all, the feds analyzed the picks and videos from Jay six. Yeah, be interesting to see who all was there. Once again, I know the easy thing for me to say, oh, they shouldn't protest. Of course, they should protest if they want to, they shouldn't, but they got the rights to. But when they go in, when they go into face, I said, you think I'm going to, you think I'm going to change my mind? You think you're going to go deface American monuments and write vile crap on them? And I'm going to go, you got me. I was wrong all along about you. Now I'm on your side. Come on. All right. Maximus says, thankfully, it's a crime to burn the American flag in our state. And Maximus, that's one of those plate. It's one of those uncomfortable opinions of mine. And I don't think I need to go on. So you know, me, I'm pretty patriotic, dude. But part of my patriotism is the right of some doofus to burn the flag. Don't like it. Like it all, but if they're right. Oh, okay. Thank you. Supermom said it wasn't Mr. Carl's TikTok. It was other people, I guess, sharing it. And okay, well, I thought he was like, super cool. Supermom, I was like, I'm not on TikTok. And Congressman Carl is so he's not on TikTok. Okay, it's not him. And John says it's safe to use TikTok. I don't know. Is it safe? I mean, the Chinese get an information about me that they need. I don't know if they're sitting there and, you know, back at the Chinese Red Polyburo central going, how we have the material we need on Sean Sullivan. I mean, I don't know. Let's see, Michael said, oh, is this if we could get a bypass for? Oh, this is traffic trouble. If we could get a bypass route for out-of-stateers away from the tunnel, we'd fix the tunnel. Stupid Texas and Louisiana are 90% of the tunnel's problems. And of course, they can't go through without laying on the horn. I'll tell you the other zone of traffic in the tunnel and not coastal Mississippi, not our people, the people that are like from the northeastern part of Mississippi, like Nope, Napa Tawafa County, or Ida Dubba Bamba County or whatever. Those are the ones that go like 12 miles an hour through the tunnel. I started trouble there, probably. I'll be back. You're listening to Midday Mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM Taw 106-5. By the way, I was a robust earlier not to congratulate Chris from Elson or old Elson or Chris within that family four pack of tickets to the Gibby Buffett tribute show with Colby for Van coming to the War Fanful Theater of his first tickets on sale now. Warf Box Office and Ticketmaster.com and not to worry another chance before we wrap up the show to win tickets again. So be on the lookout for that. Be ready with the phone lines. I know people say, I want to do it on the text line. This is one of the things we do on the phones. Good old-fashioned, pick up your telephone and make a phone call. Not right now, but we'll give you another shot to win more tickets coming up in just a little bit. All right. I mentioned at the game of the show joining me from the Alabama Port Authority, Vice President of Communications and Federal Affairs, Maggie Oliver in studio. Good to see you. Hey, great to see you. Thanks for having me. It's good to have you along as well as we're getting this conversation that got started for a lot of us. I guess Tuesday, I guess Tuesday morning with the announcement of this intent to sue, maybe the lawsuit's not but the intent to sue for Mobile Baykeeper against the Corps over the deepening and widening of the ship channel. We found out about the same time you did, so we were pretty surprised. We'll get there first because the conversation I had yesterday with William Strickland, he said, well, you know, we had been intimating. You're saying, from y'all's perspective, they didn't tell you they were going to sue. When's the last time, I guess, y'all with the Port Authority or the Corps and Baykeeper had talked? How long ago? Probably less than a month ago, we were really disappointed to see this development because we have been facilitating these open and transparent conversations between not just the Port and Baykeeper, but also bringing the Corps to the table to answer questions. And throughout all of those conversations that we had over the month of May, June, there was no indication that there was this level of concern and that this dramatic of an action would be taken against our project. Y'all met loggerheads. I mean, so at that point, was there something like, well, I just can't do this or I mean, were y'all still like saying, well, what do you need? What do you need? Or were you in the, I can't go any further than this? Well, it didn't really get to that. And, you know, we really thought we were just answering some questions from concerned citizens about how do we know that this is, how is this being monitored? And we didn't really get into that, like I said, but this project, you know, it has been approved since 2019. And it has gone through every federal process and regulatory parameters to ensure that we are doing this the right way. And that is, you know, if the EPA can be okay with this, then we think Baykeepers should be too. And in fact, they were, they participated in the process that led to the approval of this project. You know, we are months back in like 2019 or whatever. So they were part of that. Yes. It's called the GRR. It's a, it's a process that the core does. And they were involved in that local fishermen were involved in that community organizations, other environmental groups. It was a very public and open process for how the channel project was going to be managed. And I guess we need to tell people to the, I mean, there's dredging has been going on on the ship channel as it had been for my whole lifetime to keep the ship channel open. But this is to widen and deepen for the ships coming through the Panama canal. Right. Okay. And so how much, I guess, how much deeper is the channel and wider from where it was in 2019? So the channel right now is at 45 feet and we're taking it down to 50 feet. And that is going to enable, like you said, the largest ships to cross across the Panama canal to come into Mobile and will be the deepest container terminal in the Gulf, which means that bigger ships are going to come here first. They're going to unload more cargo here first and more cargo quite simply means more jobs in Alabama. Okay. So in my conversation with the William Strickland yesterday from Baykeeper, he said, we're not against this widening and deepening of the channel. He said, our issue is where that dredge spoil goes that I'm paraphrasing here. So y'all's response to that. It's really difficult to say you're not against the project when you're threatening to file a lawsuit that would stop the project. And like I said, we're months, not years away from this being done. And Baykeeper was involved in the approval process years ago. So to come out of nowhere with these concerns and try to stop it in the ninth hour, it's really upsetting and frankly disappointing. He had said, William said that it was an issue of that they could do this, that the core could mitigate this sediment instead of just ejecting it into the bay, that they had done this elsewhere. He had given me some examples. I forget him off the top of my head where the core had done this and it didn't put back the amount of spoil into the water, waterway. Sure. So every project's different. But for our project, we are using every bit of material from the channel project. Every bit of material from the channel project that can be used beneficially is being used beneficially. The port has committed that to the community. We are taking sand and we the core is taking sand from our project down to the West End of Dolphin Island. We've got oyster restoration happening, working on Deer River as well. So we're using this material beneficially. And it's curious to me, you know, that the that Baykeeper wants us to push, you know, dump all of this material offshore. They call it mud, but really that mud is full of nutrients and little critters that make the ecosystem of the bay thrive. And it's frankly responsible to want to get rid of that. Yeah, I mean, there's there's and I'm sure we could get geologists on here to walk us through. But just as a hazy guy that yeah, but I'm, you know, a person grew up here. Certain parts of the channel it will be mud. Certain parts of the channel has a sand content in it as you get further down, especially towards Dixie Bar and all that big sand content. So could you split loads and say, okay, well, we got sand here. This goes to West End. That's exactly what they do. Okay. And then now we're kind of more into a mud thing. What do we do with it? You talked about those projects. I think something I read you had sent or you come out from the port and I think they talked about as well. It's 70. In their requirement, 70% of the school, I don't have in front of me, go is bound to go somewhere. Nationally, the core has a mandate to use 70% of all material from their projects, beneficially. And that's their national federal mandate. On this project specifically, the port committed any beneficial material to be used locally. Okay. So then if it's being used locally, then the idea is that the Baykeeper said William said yesterday that it's being ejected into the water, making it more turbid. That's a beneficial use. You want to keep those little critters and nutrients in the Bay. You don't just want to dump that in the Gulf. But okay. So the idea is though they're in there, but then there is a sediment load that is settling on the floor of the Bay. Sure. So mobile is a naturally muddy system, right? And this, the redistribution of sediment, you know, from the channel to other parts of the Bay, it's not creating more turbidity or mud or cloudiness than an afternoon thunderstorm would do. And this is again, vetted by so many different people. And truly, if you think about the core, they're literally an army of scientists and engineers whose responsibility is to ensure this project is done in the absolute best way possible for the specific environment that we are in. And so to pull from other projects that the core has done nationwide or other ports, it's not, it's apples and oranges. Every project's unique. But if, but just in defense of that, if it has been done elsewhere, and I would like to see both things. I'm a fan of the port, what goes on, like the deepening and widening. And I would like to say, I mean, there's no way to say no, you're not going to try to have no, you know, turbidity issue, but to maximize how much it's taken away. I mean, that money has been spent elsewhere with core projects, right? Why don't we say, hey, core, we want you to do the same thing you didn't, wherever, pick Kipsey or whatever, you know, well, when this process was being evaluated, that really long GRR process I mentioned, they defined exactly how this project would be done. And they knew going in that there would be this much stand, this much mud, this much this, this much that that would need to be taken care of. And that's how they define the scope of the project and the budget for the project. So they would know how to handle it. In that research process that the core did, there were no adverse impacts found to the bay. And despite that, just because there's not an adverse impact, it doesn't mean that you can't do something better, which is why the port and the core have taken the additional step of using all of the material that's coming out of the channel for things that are productive in the bay. And, you know, that is, it's something that we're committed to, we all care about the bay. And I think it's just really important to keep in mind that all of the materials being used for a good, for a good reason. Okay. So just joining us, we're talking about the port authorities view of what we talked about yesterday on the show, Maggie Oliver, from the port authority. And let's look at this, the amount has seen to be dredged now to doing the remodel for lack of a better word on the ship channel, deepening widening. That's X or whatever in this thing, or that's A. B is maintaining. Do you all have those numbers like it's it? Because right now we have been maintaining the ship channel with dredging for all these years. How does that change? Like, here's the big part where you're deepening widening, then what is the yearly, you know, what's the maintenance on it? Right. You have to keep the channel open for commerce, right? And we have several cycles that we go through to ensure that the channel is at the depth that it is supposed to be. And I don't have on, off the top of my head, a yearly number of cubic. I just wonder how much more like, okay, because there's an accepted in our system right now, amount of dredging that's done to have kept it where it is. Then we go to the deepening and widening. Is it twice what the dredging would be? Is it five times? Is it half? Is it? It's hard to say because so many things can factor into that. You think man-made sediment and runoff from new construction. And you think storms are different things like that. It can, you know, if you have a really rainy season, you know, in the upper and waterway system, what would run off and run down? I mean, think about geographically where we are. So we really have to analyze that on an ongoing basis. I can't, it's not a, it's not a prescribed amount each year. Okay. So it varies. It does. Then, you know, talking about using it, using those spoils for the best purposes, yesterday conversation came up, of course, about Gail Yard Island, right? And what's been for pelicans and actually a bunch of other, everybody says pelicans, those are there, but a bunch of other shorebirds that benefit from that, that spoil in the middle, that, you know, what about creating more Gail Yard Islands or something like that to say, let's just take, you can dredge it and then put all of it right here so it's not in the water. Well, and we've asked Baykeeper for their input on that. And that's again, why we were so surprised that they chose to pursue a threat to impose litigation against the core on this project, because we've asked for their input, we've asked for projects they would like to see. And, and we're open to that, you know, we've got a lot of ideas beyond where we are putting dredge material right now. We have a lot of ideas for how we can, how we can do more with the material that we have to remove. Now, how you talked about kind of the ninth hour here, you know, towards the end of this lawsuit comes, how close are y'all to this? I mean, where, where is it like, you're about to connect everything? Where's the dredging? It's very close to being finished. We're anticipating spring, early spring next year. So there is, there are portions of the ship channel that have been deepened and widened to the new depth. Yes. So if y'all had some kind of stop to it, that this has been done, but you wouldn't be, you couldn't use it. I mean, it's the top section, south section. Right. You have to have all, all of the portions of the project complete because you can't just bring a ship into, you know, Gulliard, Theodore Channel, turning around. Sure. And then if you said there was this open comment period in the past, and you said you heard from some people, but I'll say, here's what happens a lot of times. It's not on y'all, but it's probably everybody in media. A lot of people don't know about these things until it pops off and it becomes a story. Sure. Right. So because I see, I'm going to text the text page here full of people that said, well, they had no idea this was going on. This and that they were kind of caught unaware. Yeah, it has been a while. So the process, the comment process, the approval process, closed in 20 May of 2019. So it's been a minute, but that is one thing that, you know, we always try to have an open line of communication with the environmental advocacy groups, the chambers, elected officials, and let them know the progress we're making and what we, what we see coming so that they can answer questions as well. Okay. So barring anything lawsuits, you'd say this is finished in the spring. Correct. With the core, I don't know what kind of interaction y'all have is the port authority with the core, but is there a discussion where even outside the apex of talking with Baykeeper that you could say, hey, is there any way we could squeeze out a little board to not be returned into the water column? Is that a conversation y'all have with them or just have to go through another entity saying that? I think it would have to be entirely re-engineered to really to find something different at this point. Yes. So like I said, it's a very detailed process and we've had a plan laid out since 2019 and to up in that or try to, you know, flip the script right here at the last minute that this is not the opportunity to do that. And that's why we've asked Baykeeper to come to the table to look for future opportunities where we could use material that we pull from, from our births and from the federal channel and use that for something that they would like to see. But again, this project, it's, it's fully baked. Okay. So in that, because the lawsuit is, I don't know, it's like, we'll put it in some mobile ways. It's fiction to be filed, but not filed. Right. Right. That there is a chance for, are y'all going to sit down with them? Is Baykeeper going to sit down with y'all to talk about if there's anything to say, Hey, we're going to divert this and here's a deal. I'm not sure. At this point, honestly, like I said, we were pretty blindsided by their intent to file a suit against the core on our, on our project. So I can't answer that right now, but I would, I would certainly hope they would come back to the table and work collaboratively as we have all expressed we would like to do. Okay. We'll be watching for Maggie. Thank you for your time. Thank you. Maggie Oliver. She is vice president of communications and federal affairs with the Alabama Port Authority. Hopefully we got some of the questions asked and I know there's a bunch on the text line. We will get through those when we come back at three, four, three, zero, one, zero, six. [Music] This is Midday Mobile with Sean Sullivan on FM Talk 1065. 1254 FM Talk 1065 Midday Mobile. Tell you about my buddy Flint, Jameson, and Adventure Earth Bicycles. So 400, okay, here's a clash of culture. So 400 of the good old fashioned bicycles in stock and all kind of different, you know, from mountain bikes to road bikes, everything in between. 75 e-bikes in stock at any given point. That talked about a friend of mine who got an e-bike because his daughter ran cross country. She was a senior last year, ran cross country. He used the e-bike to be able to go out and, you know, keep up because he's my age. And he used the bike to be able to keep up with her doing her running. I used the e-bike, so I went riding the other day with Clint and from Adventure Earth Bicycles, another guy, they came and rode out the country with me. And they're like, like real bicycle guys. Like I'm a guy who rides his bicycle a bunch, but I don't have any of the tight fit and shorts or the shirts or the kind of helmet because I do want to protect what's left of my brain. But I don't have any of the fancy stuff. Well, it gave me the ability to keep up with those guys riding. Now I'm mostly peddled by bike, but when, you know, we'd get on a hill or something like that and I was starting to maybe lose the pack there, I could kick in with the, with the electric on that bike in the eco boat. Now you could ride those electric bikes all electric for the full time, but it's more fun to pedal them and just let them kick in. I thought about this too. I was keeping up with some grown folks, but maybe you got the kids out riding. You want them on their regular bikes. You just want to make sure you keep up with them. You can do the long loops that they do. Check out any bike. It may be the solution for you. I love mine two years into e-bike and I am crazy about them. So check them out. Big selection of e-bikes and non-e-bikes at Adventure Earth Bicycles. They're in Midtown at the quarter of airport and little flower right across our county corner to cross from Ruth's Chris, or you can see their website adventure-earth.com, but go see them in person. It's the most fun. All the bicycle is there. Plus, if you got bikes, you need to get some repairs done, get them tuned up. He's doing that every day as well at Adventure Earth Bicycles. All right, to the text line, we go and first up, let's see, we've got a couple different conversations going on here. Okay, we'll just take it in. We'll take it chronologically. Chris and Orange Beach, on the real side, do you think Netanyahu gives a blank about what any of us think he's going to stop? They woke up the lion that was peyowed, a sleeping monster. I think Netanyahu does care what people here think because he needs money and weapons. So I think he's got to play that game a little bit. It is, I have a nuanced approach. I still support Israel's right to defend, but also, if you can do things to mitigate the killing of innocence, and other people call me and say, none of them are innocent. They're all bad. I disagree with you. You're wrong. They're what makes me one of the umpteen reasons I'm so proud to be American is we do things the hard way sometimes. Think about our boys in Fallujah. Think about those Marines in Fallujah that went door to door and took casualties going door to door to root out the solder crew, right? They're, instead of just calling in airstrikes and bombing a whole thing, we did it the absolute right way. And that's what I'd like to see some from Israel. Once again, that doesn't make me against Israel. It makes me say you got to try. I mean, of course, there are casualties in war that are not combatants, but I do believe in mitigating that. That makes me whatever you give me, whatever you're going to call me. That's fine. I can take it. Bring it on. Let's see. James just made the statement. Okay. So James the troll. So James just made the statement. He's not going to vote. James just lost his opinion because if you don't vote, you don't get an opinion. Let's see here. Maximus says, I'm not going to send American boys halfway around the world to do a job. Ukrainian boys ought to be doing for themselves. Well, sounds familiar, doesn't it? Just change the country out. CB Carl said, Sean, are you talking about those places where after they forced forced the first natives off the land, they named the place after them or use their words to name the place? I don't think I was talking about it, but I do talk about that sometimes. CB Carl, you know, we look at the names of places and see the people that were there before. John says, move your bankkeeper needs to stick to the coal ash problem, not things that will wreck the economy. Irish Indian said, Sean, someone's not telling the truth on the channel project. The young lady seems sincere in what she says. All right, we'll come back to more of this and Dale Lee from Land Yap, straight ahead.
