Now, best morning show in Boston. Billy and Lisa in the morning. It's just a great start to my day on Kiss 108. ♪ Live music to me ♪ Well, good morning, everybody. Welcome into the Billy and Lisa morning show. This is the Thursday edition. Lisa's gonna be a little cloudy today. We're gonna start off pretty cloudy. Mm-hmm. We could see an afternoon thunderstorm and then it's gonna clear out and it's gonna be a beautiful three or four days. Yeah, the weekend is looking like beautiful, beautiful. Yeah, yeah, it'll be warm today in the 80s. But yeah, this is the last of the murky days. All right, big story locally. I noticed nurses out at Brigham and Women's yesterday voted on a one day strike. We're not sure whether or not that's gonna happen yet. Apparently there's one more negotiating session. But we have a lot of nurses listening to this show every morning. Some are heading into work, some are going home from their overnight shift. So if anybody wants to call in, we love our nurses 617-931-1108. And you're looking at me like you have something to say, Lisa. Well, I have a commuter alert because we never talked about this yesterday and I have two things that I think people should know. Because, you know, people are, you know, on vacation one week and not on vacation. So the MBTA made an announcement last week late that the red line, the brain tree line, starting September 6th and the 29th of September will be closed, the brain tree branch. They're gonna be busing people. So that affects everyone in Quincy. We never discussed it last week. So I just wanted to mention it just because when you get back from, you know, summer break or whatever, September 6th and that's your route, it's gonna change. Oh boy. So wait until everyone comes back. Right. That's gonna impact a lot of people. It really is. It's a, you know, it's about a three week track work thing. They're trying to increase speeds and stuff like that. But when he brings up a good point, why wouldn't they wait until everybody's coming back? Right. Why wouldn't they do it in August? Right? Just wait right now. Right. Yeah. It's, it's so strange. Anyway, I used to take that. So that's a very busy track. It is. Um, and then the other thing is route three, they are increasing the speed limit from 55 to 65 from 128 in Burlington to the New Hampshire border. Oh, I love that. They're already changing the signs today. Well, that's great. So that means it's okay to go 75. Isn't that the unwritten rule? Like they'll allow you to go. No, it's not. No, it's not. No, I gotta pull it off for like nine miles over. That's being sick. They're out there after me. It doesn't, it doesn't really apply to me because I drive slow. Oh, yeah. You've had enough convictions. Wow. Yes, you hug that right lane. Yeah, I use the passing lane as a passing lane. Yeah. I mean, they pull you over. They run your number. And there's going to be a lot of issues there, you know? Well, there's been some issues. Yeah. Because they run the plate and they don't know that, you know, I'm a changed man. Exactly. You know? They just see felony lights up. Yeah. Okay. And then suddenly he's approaching. Then the zip ties come out. And the other officers approaching from the passenger side. Well, when you see the second car pull up, you know it's about to go down. Yes. You're not getting behind the wheel. Yeah. Yeah. Put your hands on the wheel. Yeah. Olympic games kick off tomorrow. Lisa, are you really going to the Olympics next week? We are actually. That's amazing. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. We have the opportunity. It's easy. It's a two-hour train ride. So why not do it? And meantime, your son, Riley, is at the World Golf Championships again today. He is. He's in Pinehurst. His round is like at 12 o'clock today, so. All right. And he got there yesterday. A little practice round. Yep. He shot a 72. Magic. The World Championships. Young Riley Donovan with his highlights. He's got the bushy broccoli. Oh, he told me that a woman from Massachusetts was working the desk and they were checking him in. And she looks down and then she looks at the address and she goes, oh, you're from Massachusetts. She goes, you don't really look like you're from Massachusetts. What does that even mean? He looks like he's from California. That's what I said. I said, well, Riley, you, you know, you did the job here. Yeah, well, his tan looks like he's been spending weeks on the equator. Yeah. Well, you know, it's some summer golf. And golf tips with Riley Donovan. Because in summer, it's really important to stay hydrated, make sure you're not starving on the course and crumble down, drink every hole, and eat every two or three holes. Just something small could be a granola bar, could be a peanut butter cracker. Anything, really. Yeah. That's me. If I were a golfer, I'd be drinking it every hole, but it wouldn't be water. I'm just saying. You want to squeeze in a talk back, Justin? Well, earlier this week, we got a talk back, which is essentially a message. You can leave it. It's very easy. Free to do on the iHeart app, that red microphone. And we got one from a girl in Spain, who apparently was trekking by herself. And we had all these questions. Well, she had us back. Her name is Jamie. Good morning, morning, team. This is Jamie calling you back from Spain. About 300 miles now into the journey. The some questions you asked, I am definitely alone out here. When I get closer to cities, I'll run into some more people, but for the most part, I'm trekking alone. But really not too much to worry about. I am heading up into the mountains, and I do hear reports of wolves. But I'd rather take on a wolf than some of the people sometimes. Have a great day. Oh, man. So she's hiking alone through the woods of Spain. Yeah. But that takes courage. It does. I'd be scared to death. I know. She'd rather run into a wolf than a human. Well, think about some of the guys out there. Anyway, we always welcome our talk backers. The mafia continues to grow, and now we include the International Club. It includes Spain, and we're glad to have her. Okay, we're coming up on entertainment in a couple of minutes. Matt Damon last night, talking about shooting that movie right here in Boston with Casey Affleck. Yeah. He was on with Fallon, and they did some singing together. And we'll also talk about that Deadpool Wolverine movie. A lot going on with that too. It's all coming up next. The entertainment is next. Let's go. From the Planet Fitness Kids 108 studios. We're back with Villy and Lisa in the morning. On Kiss 108. Justin, I think we have a few seconds. Let's squeeze in to talk back. Wait a minute. You're telling me, Lisa's going to the Olympic Games. So we're going to get inside coverage from Lisa. And yet, Billy still wasn't invited. Bummer. Yeah, there was some issues last time. Bill went to the Olympics. Well, there was some technical difficulty. Hi, coming down in 321. This is report 14 Wednesday in 321. Yeah. Okay, that was not a technical difficulty. That was the way we had to do it. Well, no, they wanted a report, and that's what they got. Hi, coming down in 321. This is report 12. Hello, 12. Okay, I was in Australia. I just wanted to make sure we were ready to go. Yes. Well, yes, Lisa is going. I am. It's part of my, we're away, but I'm like a two-hour train ride away from it. So why not go for the day? You know what's going to happen? You get to the Olympics. A lot of the events are sold out, but then you look for the events that aren't. As long as you see an event or two, that's all that matters. Exactly. And some of the tickets to like table tennis, you know, are very cheap. So that's what we're looking for, something right in the city. And that's very exciting. You know, you might get to see the break dancing. Absolutely. You can only hope. I'm trying to go for beach volleyball. That's what I want to go. That's really exciting. Live reports. Look at them. Yeah. Now the entertainment update with the Billy Costa. Yeah, opening ceremonies in Paris, France tomorrow, just announced Celine Dion. And Lady Gaga will perform together. They're going to do the song "Lavi on Rose." You might remember Lady Gaga sang that song in the movie "A Star is Born." How beautiful is that? So they're going to do that together? Yes. Okay. I'm getting conflicting reports here. Good morning. It's the mayor of the South Bend. Happy Pre-Friday. Well, while I was at the gay bar last night, I learned from some rabid Celine Dion's fans what song she will be singing. It will be the Canadian national anthem. And she will be singing it in French. Mercy Boo Goo. Okay. Mercy Boo Goo. Yeah. You know, I think he has the wrong information. He does. But we'll find out. But if I'm going to concede to anybody, it's the mayor of the South Bend. Absolutely. With C. Boo Goo. Yeah. He knows stuff that we don't know. Well, you know, the gay bar, the gay bars have a lot of information that they don't have. So they get inside information. By the way, just announced Celine Dion's going to be doing a Vegas residency too. Apparently we don't have any dates yet, but it's good to see she's back. Again, I saw the documentary. If you see the documentary, you have doubts she would ever come back. Right. That's why all of this is so surprising, but I'm so happy for her. Yeah. Other topics this morning, Red Sox manager Alex Cora gets a three-year extension, more than $7 million a year. Harry, what? I love wearing this uniform. I love the passion that this city brings on a daily basis. This organization means to us is the world. They trusted me from day one, and there were two things that I wanted. I wanted to win, and I wanted security for my family. Yeah, it's a good news, bad news situation on that extension last night. The Red Sox lost the Rockies 20 to 7. By the way, there was a bench brawl. Yeah, it got so heated. I think they were so frustrated. They were losing so much. They cleared the benches. Yeah. Anyway, congrats to Alex Cora. I think I have a little crush on Alex Cora. No, OK. He'll be sticking around. For some reason, even when he's losing, I want him here. Like, I don't care. I like him. When I lose, I just like him. I just want him here. Everybody likes Alex Cora. Nice guy. Well, he was, you know, a utility guy for us when we won, you know, both areas, though. Day one, Patriots training camp yesterday. There were quarterbacks everywhere. Coach Gerard, Mayo, Syton Pump, though. Ah, it's an exciting day. At least for me, personally, I know it's exciting for the guys in the locker room as well. They get back on the field and play real football. The most important thing is just to compete and to go out here and have fun. And winning is fun. So it's all about competition. And it's all about getting better each and every day. Chiefs kicked off their training camp. But yesterday, Travis Kelsey had a little scuffle. He was pissed off at defensive and George Coloftis delivering an aggressive hit on Caderius Tony. It was a scary hit. You know, and I kind of agree with Travis. I mean, OK, you want to impress the coaches, but God-- There's no pass and there's no pass. Yeah, you don't take a guy out on your own team. Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman cohorting the Kimmel show last night. The new Deadpool and Wolverine movie is out today. And well, they sang the Golden Girls theme. [MUSIC PLAYING] [CHEERING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [LAUGHTER] [MUSIC PLAYING] [MUSIC PLAYING] [LAUGHTER] [MUSIC PLAYING] The Wolverine movie has more than 110 F-bombs in it. Yeah, I don't think you're taking my son to see this. Yeah, that's a lot. Yeah, I think-- didn't Deadpool have a lot, like about 98 or something? Yeah. Matt Damon was on with Fallon last night. He talked about shooting his new movie, The Instigators, right here in Boston, with Casey Affleck and Jack Harlow. We set out to make a really fun movie, and I think we succeeded. It's really-- it's a movie about two guys, like-- it's a heist movie, but if, like, the A-team isn't available and, like, you can't get the B or the C-team either. Wow. Yeah, like, you get us. Yeah. Yeah. So it's a kind of a buddy comedy, you know, in that way. Yeah. Remember they shut down Bulba's Bakery at film scenes inside of it? Do we know when it's coming out? Yeah. Next Friday. Oh, next Friday. By the way, he told a very funny story about going to the Medcala with his wife, and-- they were, like, two hours early. They got dropped off at five. It started at, like, seven or thirty. Yeah, they thought they were going to be stuck in New York City traffic, and instead they ended up with a police escort. They didn't know they were going to get, and then all of a sudden they were the first people to arrive. Yeah, they were still setting up the gala. They were standing there with the charters. All the charters were beating. Right. The Inside Out 2 movie, officially now, the highest grossing animated movie of all time. More than 1.4 billion. It just edges out frozen, too. Exactly. This is huge. It's going to be in the theaters for a hundred days before it hit streaming in late September or early October. Wow. It's actually kind of smart. It is. The New Halsey song "Lucky" comes out tomorrow, New Music Friday. It actually came out, like, twenty years ago. Well, yeah, it's more than a sampling of a Britney song "Lucky." I mean, it's Britney song. Well, you got it? It's a cover. It's a cover. I think you need to call it a cover. Yeah, pretty much. No release date yet on Halsey's album, but I did see a story this morning that she said or suggested this album could be her last because she's been struggling with elf issues. That would be sad. Well, she had a cancer. Is she still have cancer? She's on the mend now. She had a bunch of health. And then Lupus, I think. Yeah, I don't think it's going to be her last album. I think maybe she thinks that now, but you know, things change. She's so mean to you. Yeah. You know, she's so lucky. She's so lucky. She is lucky. Lucky. Yeah. It's a good one. Yeah. Lucky, you know. The weekend is working on part three of his album trilogy and put out a teaser yesterday. Let me close my eyes if they're not. Let's save it all in the world, not far behind. Okay. Sounds like a lot of other weekend stuff to me. That's one complaint. And I'm a weekend fan is a lot of his songs down the same. I love them. Everything and anything you have ever wanted to know about share. You will mostly find out with a two part memoir that's coming out. Part one comes out November 19th. Call it 25-6-1-7-9-3-1-1-1-0-8. As always, there are rules to the game and the rule is very simple. You'll need the keyword and the keyword producer Riley is going to be talking about trends. Trends is the keyword. In the meantime, let's get some talkbacks in. We're going to be talking about weird 2000s trends. That's why the keyword is trends and just before we get to the talkbacks. I've been coming up with more and more of the embarrassing trends that I used to partake in. So that'll be a fun discussion. We'll do that in about five minutes. But anyway, check in on the Talkback mic on the iHeart app. Get your voice heard on the radio. As I mentioned earlier, the highway signs are changing for the speed limits. Right, Lisa? Yes. On Route 3? Well, I guess they're up. Good morning, Morning Crew. Just a live update that the signs on Route 3 from Lowell to Burlington have been updated to 65 miles per hour. So 55 to 65. Not that anybody ever went 55. No. But now people will go 75. Right. There they go. Because that area can get very slow. Yes. And I feel like someone that's just drivers. I think it's a good thing. Yeah. Yeah, pick it up. Come on, pick it up. Let's get there. Yeah, I mean, I drive slow. I don't really see a need to go fast. But people just whiz by me on the highway. You know what I get mad about is when I know I'm speeding, like I'm going 85 and you're up my ass. Yes, sir. I'm the same thing. We're both going to get pulled over right now. Yeah. Move over. Right. Like I know I'm 25 miles above the speed limit. Why are you at my house? Not only that. Sometimes they come up your ass and they're flashing their lights. Yeah. Like, okay. Really? Scary. Yeah. And I'm like, if I'm speeding, what are you? How much are you going? I got a hundred. Yeah. My favorite thing, when I come to work on 93, 3 o'clock in the morning, and this has happened a few times, I'll be driving. No one's on the road. And a car will fly by me at 100 miles an hour. Yeah. And I go, oh, wow. That guy's got somewhere to go. And then, you know, fast forward a couple miles. There he is. Yeah. Hi, Justin. I'm sure you're getting ready for your big Aruba trip. We're heading to Aruba tomorrow. Super excited. But during our trip, we plan to rescue two dogs and transport them home to America. Sadly, as of August 1st, the CDC has put in a new guideline that will eliminate this from happening to any of the islands, including Aruba. So please spread awareness. This is a horrible new law, and it will impact hundreds if not thousands of organizations and dogs. Yeah. Sad new law for the islands. Yeah. People look into adopt. Yeah. We weren't really familiar with this, but I guess, yeah, starting August 1st, there are tightened rules that require all dogs that are coming into the U.S. to appear healthy upon arrival, be at least six months old, be microchipped, and be accompanied by a CDC dog import form. Well, to be fair, there are so many dogs already here that need homes and that need, like, tended to take sick dogs in when we already were dealing with dogs, like, you know, on the streets and stuff. I don't know. There's just a lot. Yeah. The shelter is over. Yeah. So maybe it's actually something that needs to happen right now. So in Aruba, because I'm going to Aruba the week after next, are there dogs everywhere? Yeah. Running around the streets. Most of the islands, yeah. You'll see dogs roaming the streets. You definitely do. Yeah. Okay. It's almost right around. Yeah, it's different. And sadly, that's one of the first things I think of when you see a hurricane or a storm that hits the island. I'm always wondering what's become of the dogs. Yeah. They have a lot of... That's the problem. Yeah. Yeah. Well, didn't Titus come from Texas? Houston, Texas. Yeah. There's a big problem in Houston, Texas, where they're just all abandoned on the streets. And there's a singular park that they're all just dropped off. People decide they don't want the dog anymore for one reason or another. So they just run the streets and packs and just forage for whatever they can get. And Bessie... We see evidence of it in Titus right now. Like we're suspecting, you know, dogs would have to go to dumpsters to look for food. And then when the dumpster guy comes up and we're thinking, because we think he has an injury to his shoulder and we're thinking he was probably kicked or something, you know, to get away from the dumpster. And didn't Bessie arrest and peace? Yeah. Didn't Bessie or the pitwheel you had before? Didn't she? She had a tough life too. Oh, very tough life. I mean, these dogs... Here's the thing, when you adopt and you know the dog was abused, you want to know, but you don't want to know how much they went through. Anyway, shut out to the shelter. We deal with Gal's best pal. They do a great job. If you're looking to adopt, they'll get you a beautiful dog and they'll make it work. Let's go to Courtney. Courtney, you're calling 25. I am so excited. Good morning. Hey, Courtney. Where are you from? Where do you live? I live in Plymouth. Matt? Oh, beautiful Plymouth. That's a beautiful town. Like Plymouth. Mm-hmm. You know that harbor entrance when you're pulling into Plymouth, it's one of the most beautiful in New England. It really is. Yeah. But do you have a key word for us? I do. The key word is trends. Trends is the key word and so hold on, producer Riley is standing by and off you go to Meghan Trainer. Yeah, the key word was trends because I was about to take a trip down embarrassing lane. Coming back at some of the weird trends that we are talking in the early 2000s, this should be fun. That discussion's next. Kiss 108. Wow. Billion Lisa. Kiss 108. Okay. So there's a new survey out on trends and it's about the 2000s, at least. It is. It's on Bud's feet and they did this survey and they asked people what are actually the most toxic, unnecessary, and just plain weird things that we all did back in the 2000s. And I've got a few myself. Okay, let's go with you. Definitely on the list. So on the list, remember those juicy couture with, you know, sweatsuits that we all used to wear, the velour ones, and it would say juicy on the butt or sexy for a Victoria Secret? That's one that's totally cringe-worthy. Every girl had those. Every, you had to have one. Yeah. And if you did, you were like 10 times hotter to me. Oh, no. Clearly. Yeah, they were kind of hot, actually. Yeah. But then weren't they replaced by the sweatsuits that said pink on the butt? Yes. Exactly. And then that goes into another cringy trend in the 2000s was that everybody had to be that, like, unacceptable body image, you know what I mean? Because Victoria's Secret was huge, the angels, the album, zombie models, that whole thing in the 2000s. So people are also saying that was pretty cringe-worthy. Yeah. Plus size was like an eight. Plus size. Right. Plus size muffler was like an eight size eight. Totally. The problem I have with the 2000s is I have a problem discerning between the 90s and the 2000s. And even the 80s, I mean, I've had some cringe-worthy trends. Can we go beyond the 2000s? Well, the 90s, yeah, they kind of blend together. Yeah. Early 2000s. What are you? What are you aware of? Well, I don't know. It stands out. The baggy suits stand out for me. And then they had sport jackets or suits with shoulder pads for guys. In sync had a lot of that look going on. Yeah. So like in the mid-2000s, I was in like middle school. So I'm thinking of like those trends, like the board shorts, you know, when you had shorts that went down to like your knee, they're like, you know, like they weren't like a short short. They were like a big home of board short. Yeah. Like, I don't know. They weren't capris. They were a little short. Those were horrible thin eyebrows. Yeah. Like really thin eyebrows. Yeah. Over plucking. Yeah, there was. Yeah. That was a big one because that still affects people today. Good morning, guys. So on the topic of what we regret in the 2000s, I'm sure me, along with five billion other women regret plucking their eyebrows into these tiny little rainbows right over the eyes. It's so true. And this morning before work, I will be drawing on my fake eyebrows that I've been doing for the last 20 years. Well, that's why microblading got to be so popular. Yeah. Yeah. Everybody's like filling their eyebrows in. They don't want to grow back. Locking. They don't grow back at all. Sometimes they don't. Sometimes they do. They do. I looked out because I was younger. So I still have a lot. I don't have a lot of hair growth. So I got mine back. But if you were older, like in your 30s or 40s, you can't repope. A lot of times your hair doesn't come back the way it used to when you were younger. Was it the 2000s when women were drawing their lips? Oh, like that had the lip liner? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That was weird. I mean, you'd sit at a bar, a woman would come over and sit down and you're like, oh, do you remember the low-rise jeans that Christina Aguilera would wear and Brittany? Mm-hmm. Do you remember, like, Lisa, remember when you used to straighten only the front of your hair? Yes. I have wavy hair. You would only straighten like the first front, like, few pieces and then you'd have like this nest in the back. You'd have, like, curtain bang. Yeah. There's a bangs, right? Yeah. Yeah. Well, not even. I would have my regular hair and I would just, like, make the first little, like, what you see? Look, could that frame my face? Yeah. And then I would have, like, a nest in the back. Yeah. What else does it make us look like a mullet? Yeah. What else you got, Lisa? Some graphic tees of, like, shops that didn't exist. Like, you know what I mean, like, like, a fashion house would just make up the name of, like, a surf shop or, like, an ice cream shop that didn't exist. Oh, yeah. And, like, you know, a cropped baby tea with, like, those really low jeans. Mm-hmm. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For me, it was Ed Hardy. Ed Hardy was so expensive but so popular. Yeah, what was Ed Hardy? Little Bad, he was a tattoo artist and they used his work and made it a fashion line. And it was so expensive, especially, I had no money. I mean, you're talking $200 to $300 for a t-shirt. What? I paid $150 for a hat and I had no money to save up. They were ugly too. I think you were Ed Hardy. I did. Yeah. And true religion jeans. You wore true religion jeans. He did. I... Yeah. Jordash. Oh, no. Jordash would take you back to the '90s, right? Or even the... Yeah. It was true religion. I wore true religion because I never liked guys who did. No. True religions had that design on the back pockets. Yeah. Yeah. They were so hot. This is bringing up so many memories. I was... Remember the ugs Lisa with the yoga pants? Yes. So you had like the oversized end of the yoga pants and then you had on ugs that you would tuck in. It would just look so bad. Oh my God. That was what I think I wore to school every day. I don't know why Jack. It was in the windy. I know. I kind of thought that was hot. Yeah. You know what I thought was hot? And I think it goes with the low-rise jeans when you could see that the thong would come up over the hip. That's a strap. Yeah. That's actually one of the trends. Oh, it is. And it's actually back in style. Oh, it is? Oh, yeah. Katy Perry just did it on a red carpet event recently. Okay. Honey, the thong strap is back. Yes. Yeah. And we text my wife right now. We expect them out when I yelled. We're going out this weekend. I'm bringing the thong strap. Oh, man. Other weird things I know from the early 2000s, like not even just trends, but blockbuster. Yeah. Wow. Oh, my gosh. I used to love going there to get a movie. The sound of dial-up internet. Oh, dial-up internet. Oh, my gosh. My mommy should yell at me. Get off the internet. I had to call your grandmother. And I'm like, no, I was playing a game. Yeah. Like, you literally couldn't call anybody. Well, I would infect my computer with downloading music on LimeWire. LimeWire was a music you could download music to, but you download a file and you didn't know if it was a song or a virus and most times it was a virus. And it was just to infect the computer. Oh, yeah. Justin, you remember AIM when you, like, when you would be, like, your, your away message, like BRB, like, go into the mall. Yeah. Like, wow. Yeah. When you think of it, tech trends during the 2000s would be huge. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The, uh, the Razer phones, Motorola Razer phones. Yeah. That's all I wanted was a blackberry. So bad. Do you remember the expanding headbands? They were like, yes. Yeah. You could put them. Yeah. That's, those hurt. Yeah. They really did. They kind of tried to come back. Yeah. But you're right. They hurt too much. They do. They're like a hard plastic. Yeah. You know what I'd love to see come back is the blackberry phone. Are you so? You know what's so funny?
