Gabe Escobedo, the chair of the Santa Barbara's Community Formation Commission and member of the Santa Barbara Planning Commission sits down with Santa Barbara Talks with Josh Molina to discuss plans for a new civilian police oversight board in Santa Barbara. Escobedo explains how the commission worked for more than a year to create recommendations for the Santa Barbara City Council. Escobedo also talks about his personal story, growing up with an incarcerated father, and how he overcame the odds to graduate from college and pursue his dreams. Escobedo then talks about his short-lived California State Assembly run, and explains his decision to step away from the running for the seat.
