"We have heard, once again, the choir of pundits and politicians sing their repetitive course of thoughts and prayers across every media platform and outlet. However, this time, their platitudes have been followed by a new verse. There is no place in America for political violence, because this time, the gun violence was an assassination attempt against former President Trump. We at Elsie's little pickles agree, there is no place for violence and politics. I'd like to take that sentiment a bit further. We at ELP are thankful that the shooter failed and that the former President was able to make such a speedy recovery. So speedy, in fact, he was able to attend the Republican Convention less than 48 hours later. We also want to express our deepest sympathies for those who were injured or killed in the shooting. We believe the incident was another tragic example of unnecessary gun violence, and we could easily do an entire show about gun violence in this country. We have given in on the fact that gun violence, even when the target is a former President and current leader in the Republican Party for the presidency, and that the shooter was a registered Republican. We've realized that there is absolutely no political will or courage to address the gun problem in this country. That leaves us with only the consequences, conspiracies, and responses of our leaders to discuss. We've got a dash of speculation, and it's time for another "Elsie's Little Pickles." All right, here we go again, except this time, the news of the week is a little bit heavy, a little bit hard to handle, a little bit, I don't know, some might say you could get an earful, I shouldn't make light of it. It was horrible. It was horrible that that happened, however. I think it's horrible that it happened, but I have no sympathy. Well, I have sympathy for the innocent people that were involved. Well, yeah, that is a given, but sympathy for Trump, I have absolutely zero. Yeah, so you reap what you sow. Yeah, I hate to say that, you know what I mean? Again, we don't want to see anyone killed. We don't want to see anyone injured, but when you have that level of rhetoric coming from a leader for this amount of time, I mean, we're talking almost, you know, what, nine years, essentially, of this kind of rhetoric coming out of the Republican Party, and that rhetoric is being, it was started by Trump. It was amped up by the likes of Marjorie Taylor Greene, Matt Gates, below the Democrats away, holding a rifle. Yeah. How many times have we seen campaign advertisements where Republicans are shooting at shit? And again, I'd like to say I am very much pro-second amendment, but what I'm not is getting or allowing guns to get in the hands of people that should not have them. And I cannot believe that in this day and age that we cannot agree upon some sort of background check that's a little bit more thorough or some sort of safety net, some sort of red flag law, something. I don't, I honestly don't care what it is, something. And I'm not just talking about, you know, assault rifles. I'm talking about across the board. We need to, as a country realize, victims of gun violence come in both Democrat and Republican political leanings. Some people are even agnostic about politics and get caught up in that firefight. So well, you have states like Texas, Texas in the last, I won't want to say month. Vending machines have popped up in grocery stores selling ammo. Could you hear about that? No, I did not. Are you fucking kidding me? I am not kidding. Am I? Vending machines. Yeah. Selling ammo. Yeah. Well, again, I'm, I'm, I'm almost speechless at that. Like that takes me to a whole point of, I don't even know where to begin. I'd like that, that, you know, hey, you know, we're out of milk and bullets. Can you run by the pigly wiggly? I'm like, what are we doing? Yeah. What are we doing? I mean, I thought it was weird, you know, walking into a Walmart, you know, me go grab some black tank treatment and oh, look at the shotguns. Well, look at all the, the mass amounts of ammo while shopping for bread and peanut butter. Yeah. But now it's vending machines. Well, so 24 hours a day, hey, we're getting low on some milk. We need some butter and some 30 out six. Yeah. I, I guess my question on that is just from a vending machine kind of point of view, usually vending machines are like, oh, kind of like impulse last minute. Oh, I totally forgot. I need, I need a small bag of Doritos. I'm starving. I need a Snickers bar. I'm, I just emptied my magazine and I am 20 miles away from home. There's no way I'm going to drive back and reload. Thank God there is a vending machine. So I can fill my nine. You know what I mean? Like, I don't know, man, like I honestly thought if nothing else came out of that, you would start to hear some logical Republicans who go, look, you know, we've been in this position too many times. We need to have a conversation about it. And we need to have that conversation now because they always push the conversation off. Anytime there's a mass shooting, they push, you know, this isn't the time for not the time. This is not the time. Yeah. For this conversation, running high. This is not the time. Well, motherfucker, one is the time and, and, and I'm saying this in defense of the safety of Trump, you know what I mean? Like, like, I'm making the argument. I don't think he cares. I don't think he cares. I don't think so either. I think actually this is the happiest thing to happen to him because it barely grazed him. Okay. And not that that you got to show up at the RNC with a tampon on his fucking ear. Yeah. And not to say I'm not trying to minimize the circumstance. I'm not trying to minimize the effect of what happened or the effect of what could have happened. All right. Clearly, he just happened to be lucky enough to turn his head and lean away just enough. And he got grazed. And I think when he realized that it was just, he just got grazed. I think that that marketing machine of a brain that he has, and I'll give him that. He's brilliant at marketing. Yeah. I mean, like, again, he's in the wrong in many ways. He's in the wrong business. I don't think he got grazed. I think it was glass. It might have been. I don't know. That story hasn't come out yet. The details haven't come out. You could be very well right, but neither here nor there. Okay. At this point, there's enough video showing where you can see that, you know, you can see like the, the, the bullet moving there. They've gotten stills. Now, I don't know if that's true. I'm not saying it is true, but there is, there are stills that show a projectile, or at least they show the, the air of the projectile. It's not the projectile. It's the hot air leaving his ear. Sorry. I know. I know. I know. I know how you feel about this. You know what I mean? So I have to, I have to be the voice of reason, unfortunately, in this particular conversation because again, it is a big topic. It is. We cannot. It is a big topic. We cannot just, again, I, I say it over and over again. I have zero sympathy. He is such a douchebag. He's made fun of the, the Pelosi attempted murder with a hammer. Yeah. He's joked about healing journalists like Putin. There is enough. There are plenty. Frankly, how many times are you going to make fun of a bad situation? Someone in danger or, or say, you know, when he brought up second amendment, people should solve the problem of Hillary Clinton suggesting that they go after her. I mean, how many times, you know, before that violence comes knocking at his door? Well, look, I think that we have to, we have to try to break that down because the narrative has kind of flipped to advantage Trump, though I think that that's already starting to slip away. But what's important is, what's important here is, is that we acknowledge, first off, how horrific that event was, okay, I don't care who it was on stage. It could have been the devil himself, which many say it was and I don't know that I'm far off from agreeing on that, but this is not how you handle political difference. And had he not turned his head at that exact moment, there's a very good chance that this podcast would be discussing the successful attempt on his life at that rally. So I don't want to minimize it without quantifying it first, okay? But we will at some point start to minimize it because it is as all things that have gone wrong for Trump in his, in the last eight, nine years, it is largely due to his behavior. It's largely due to his rhetoric. It's largely due to his ego, okay? So the first thing I want to make clear is the shooter was a registered Republican. It was one of their own. All right. I'm not saying that that kid was mentally stable. I'm not saying that he was doing it because he thought he was doing democracy a favor. It could have been any number of things. What I have seen so far about that kid is that that kid probably had a lot of issues, okay? So any, any number of the reasonings for why this kid did that are the, everything's on the table, all right? But we also are in a situation where would that have happened and see the Republicans are trying to flip this and gaslight us into saying it's the Democrats rhetoric that caused this. I don't think so. I honestly don't know not to say that the Democrats haven't had some amped up rhetoric. They have. However, that amped up rhetoric is coming as it's really more just going, are you looking at this and seeing this too, okay? So as a perfect example, last night at the Republican National Convention, when Trump came in and, and mind you, it was brilliant that he, he stood up after getting shot and kind of wiggled away from secret service and like he was fighting and pumped his fist in the air and said, fight, fight, fight, that was fucking brilliant. I mean, it made him look way more vigorous than Biden. It made him look like fucking Superman. And the pictures are iconic, almost too iconic, almost some would say posed. And I'm not saying that that's the case, but that's, that's the chatter out there is is that there's a lot of Democrats going down the conspiracy theory rabbit hole as well. As the Republicans, they're, they're going down different rabbit holes, but they're definitely going down these rabbit holes, right of conspiracy. I, I, I goes keeping score at home. Trump is one shot ahead of Biden and he's got a handicap now. What? What? What? Huh? What? But from what I have seen, Holyfield lost more of a, a his ear to Tyson. All right. So again, this is not minimizing it. This is just reporting the fact. I don't even know if there'll be a chunk missing from his ear, to be honest with you. I don't know if that was just like a graze that, you know, he might have a scar, but I don't know if he's missing his ears or a small ones his hands. Well, you never know. You never know. But it stuck out far enough. So so let's, let's back up and I've heard people loosen their ass and poke it. So let's, let's back up a little bit. Let's take them. I don't know if you have a news stories or not, do you? Aside from, let me, I know, let me check. I know you want to talk about, I'm going to look at a, you wanted to talk about the, the checks in the national at some last night, which was horrific. Holy shit. My heart goes out to her. Did you hear? Yeah, I did. It was horrible. Oh my God. Roseanne Barr was better. Yeah. That was so bad. What's her name again? Ingrid. Ingrid. I just know her first name. Ingrid. But it was so bad. Oh, bad. Was it? It was so bad. The Colin Kaepernick stood up. Nah. That was so bad. Secret service sat down. It was so bad. Oh, bad. Was it? The crowd was calling for Roseanne Barr. Alright, so we can skip, we can skip the news because honestly, just talking about the assassination attempt, I think is, that's the, that's the, that's the big story. And I do have some news in the toilet bowl. That is the news cycle. This has drowned out the fact that we did, in fact, lose Richard Simmons. Yes, I saw that. He is sweating to the oldies somewhere in the great ether. Let's go, girls. That was his thing. Let's go, girls. But yeah, we, we did, in fact, lose Richard Simmons. There is more. Shannon Dortree. Yes. Dortree. Yes, whatever. Dortree. Dortree. She lost her fight with cancer. So bad for her friends and family. I was never a big fan myself. I mean, again, just don't want to see somebody die unnecessarily, if, if at all possible. Richard, Richard, though, will live on because apparently Paulie Shore played him in a movie, which I'm not sure if it's came out yet or not or if it's going to go straight to streaming. But apparently he did a really good job in it. So also not this past week, but recently we didn't quite talk about it, but Richard mall. No, night court. No, no, no, no, no. How did I mess up his name? What the hell? Martin mall. Martin mall. Oh, sorry. I, I, I had Richard Simmons still stuck. That's right. So art and mall. So if this was an award show, that would be in memoriam in my mind. And with that, let's get back to Trump and the assassination attempt. What are, I guess, what are your thoughts? I've kind of drone down a little bit here about it. So and you and I haven't had an opportunity to talk since it happened. Just for clarification, Richard mall did die, but he died last year. Okay. Well, I'm belatedly sad. We all loved bull from the poor. I'm a Tasmanian double of just an eight, a Tasmanian double with a DD right now. That's all right. So the assassination attempt happened Saturday, shortly after six o'clock, I believe it was, it happened shortly after six and just because of our schedules, we haven't actually had an opportunity to discuss this. So I'm curious what your opinion is on, and what your take is on the whole thing, because I've been droning on about it for about, you know, 15 minutes now. Officially, I do not condone violence of any type. It's been over 40 years since we've had an assassination attempt. That's not long enough in my personal opinion, but again, if you sow the seeds of violence, guess what? Yeah. Don't be surprised when I knock on your door. I do feel sympathy for the families and the people injured, the man who lost his life protecting his family. I have none though for Trump. I think it is important. I've got an entire list of shit that Trump and the Republicans have said when it comes to this type of subject. One of the big ones is always, as Trump says, get over it, but they are classless. When you joke and you flirt with violence, like they have for the past eight years in Texas, there's a saying when you mess with a bullet, you're going to get the horns. And that's exactly what happened. I feel that Biden's words were extremely impactful. He definitely spoke to the nation. Yeah. He definitely came across. Biden came across as the adult in the room. Absolutely. As always. Right. He warned Americans to the, you know, there's a need to lower the temperature in our politics and remember that while we may disagree, we are not enemies. We are neighbors. We are friends. We are co-workers. We are citizens. And most importantly, we are fellow Americans. And there's no place in America for this type of violence. I will say he had suspended political ads and events after the shooting. He told his staffers not to issue any comments on social media or in public. He was the other hand, he was trying to profit from this. And I will trading cards, digital trading cards with the image from Saturday. I do think that Trump will probably, if he has any testicles, donate to the victims, the families that were impacted in this in the crowd. Perhaps he could make some kind of donation through his, the Trump charity, the Trump organization. Oh, my bad. Yeah. Shut down. Yeah, because he was stealing money from it. Yeah. And then using it for his own benefit. Oh, wow. But I mean, I said this a few times and I'll say it again, why would a Republican try to shoot Trump? I don't know. But why would a Beatles fan kill John Lennon? Right. And that's actually a really good comparison there is it doesn't have to make sense to happen. Okay. And I think that's what people are trying to, you know, figure out is, well, yeah, but this kid, look, this kid's high school friend said, I have no idea why he would do something like that. He was the most conservative person I knew so much so that when like in class, if there was like topics that were being brought up and all right, stand on this side of the classroom. If you believe this, stand on this side of the classroom. If you think this is the right answer and he was always, you know, the one guy that no matter what the circumstance was took the conservative view and more often than not stood there alone. Okay. He was the cheese. So there's got to be something that disconnected with this kid. And so one of the things I want to talk about, one of the things I'm curious about and we'll get to the laundry list of negative shit and insightful shit more towards the end because I think that that's more the exclamation point on this. One of the things I will, I wrote out a statement. I'm going to write it out and put it in the comment section for this video if people aren't so inclined. Okay. But one of the things that I think we need to talk about is the fact that this kid was 20 years old, the gun, the gun was bought legally by his father. I don't know if it was bought for him or if it was, it was the father's gun and he stole it or they, you know, had some sort of agreement that the kid could use it. I don't know. However, let's hold off on that part and look at this, the United States received intelligence from a human source in recent weeks about an Iranian plot to try to assassinate former President Donald Trump. CNN reported on Tuesday, citing that people briefed on the matter. CNN reported that there was no indication that the 20 year old who tried to assassinate Trump on Saturday was connected to the plot. That's another, I don't know, cog or another, you know, another wheel in this whole thing is I don't find it difficult to believe that I ran or any country would have multiple plans to assassinate multiple presidents or ex presidents or whatever at any period in time. I don't find that hard to believe. What I do find hard to believe with this coming out at this point is that that is actually true. That feels like a cover up. That feels like the beginnings of a cover up to me, though it may be absolutely true. This is the point we're at in this country where even if something is true, we're put in a position of questioning whether it is because we don't know what to believe anymore. You know what I mean? It used to be if intelligence sources said, you know, U.S. intelligence sources say you kind of felt like you could take that to the bank, at least to a degree. You know what I mean? Like you might have some questions, but you weren't, they weren't going to be like, I don't know, man, I don't know if this is fucking real or not. Nowadays, all news is suspect and that's the problem. So that's the first thing. The second thing, and this is where I really have an issue. I don't want to sound conspiratorial. I do not know how this happened. I don't know how it all went down. I don't know what failures transpired that allowed a 20 year old kid to go to Home Depot, buy a ladder, then go to a gun store by 50 rounds of ammo, then go an hour and some change away from his house to this event, find a building that was within 150 yards that was not protected by Secret Service, crawl up the fucking building unnoticed, for the most part, except for some, a few bystanders who did bring it to, you know, see, to local police. And I believe to Secret Service's attention for the better part of two minutes prior to the shooting and 180 seconds, three minutes. Oh, was it? It was. That's a new piece of information I didn't have. But last I heard it was just shy of two minutes. No, they said there was three minutes they had a beat on the kid and they had to wait until he did something. The gun in his fucking possession pointed at the stage was not enough for it. It wasn't pointed at the stage. All right, so you got a kid on a fucking building with a gun, you can see all of that. You cannot tell me that you couldn't shoot him in the leg. He was approached by a local police officer who climbed a ladder, climbed a ladder and then was apparently startled by the kid and then fell if I'm not mistaken. So I don't know how I was it two story building, you know, or was it? It's like one of those outdoor giant garages, okay, so like a storage building. Okay, so let's say it's 16 feet to talk to the building. He was on top of the police were had used as a staging area. Oh, really? Well, that explains a lot. No, doesn't it? Yeah. Yeah. All right. But essentially it was a breakdown between local officers and the secret service. I don't know how that happens, especially with all the contentious political rhetoric and how heated this this political season is. I don't know how that's allowed. First off, secondly, and this is where I'm very disappointed. No matter how it happened, a 20 year old kid, and if you've seen any pictures of him, he doesn't look like a fucking evil genius. He just looks like a nerdy kid. Yeah. How did that get? How did it? If we're talking about Iran having plans, I get that. There's funding behind that there's, there's, there's, you know, there's research going on. There's, they, they're paying a close attention and they've got multiple people putting together that plan that makes sense. In state funded, I can, I can see a lot of money flowing towards that operation and figuring out a plan and then executing that plan. I find it very difficult to believe and, and I'm really eager to hear the explanation on this that a 22 year old awkward, socially awkward, definitively awkward kid was able to do that and get away with it and outsmart local police and the secret service. Does that not just blow your mind to some degree? Oh yeah. All right. So since both of our minds have been properly blown by the fact that this 20 year old nerdy kid was able to crawl up a building and, and attempt to assassinate former president Trump, now this is where all those conspiracies come in. Now is it possible? It was just miscommunication between local and secret service. Yeah. That's possible. That's, that's very possible. It is very possible, but it does seem odd. It does seem like, especially when you know it's right before the convention, when you see tempers are already flaring, when you see the division, it is very difficult for me to believe that anyone would allow them on either side, you know, local police or secret service to not make sure that every eye was dotted and every tea was crossed. I would think, or at least I would hope we could have that kind of faith in the security systems that protect our elected leaders and former elected leaders and leaders who are running. And I don't know, as much as I hate to say it, and it makes my mouth feel funny, the guy who's leading the presidency race right now and was at that moment because of Biden's poor performance at the debate. Now on the upside, this story definitely took the oxygen out of the Biden getting out of the race story. So there's that. Well, they're, they're now crying that they've put in for more secret service and agents before this. And it was denied by Biden, which is not true. Biden does not have power over the secret service, that's Department of Homeland Security. Yeah. So yeah, they're just trying to gaslight. It does feel like there's a lot of gaslighting going on. And I think that as we watch the rest of the week with the Republican National Convention, I think that gaslighting will only increase. But I, like I said, I do give him credit for doing the fight, fight, fight, the only thing that I don't think he anticipated was how much at the convention, a whole arena full of people raising their hands and pumping their fists in the air and saying fight, fight, fight, how much, especially if you don't have the sound on, that looks like Nazi Germany. I mean, it, it did not look good. It was a bad look. And I'm not comparing those people in any way, shape or form to Nazis. I'm not saying that I'm saying when you continuously complain that you're being compared to Nazis, maybe don't raise your hands in the ear like a Nazi salute. I'm saying when you don't want to be compared to Hitler, don't say words that Hitler said, I'm saying, don't use the rhetoric of the Third Reich. And then no one will make the comparison. I think that that's important to say. I think it's important for people to hear. There's a difference between just saying that Trump is a modern day Hitler and that the Republican Party is, is the, you know, a modern version of the Third Reich in, in Naziism. I'm saying just stop acting that way. Well, not to change subjects or change the, the feel, the tone of the podcast, the tone of our voices, but I've got a game for you. Oh, are you ready to play a game? I'm ready to play a game. Let's play a game. All right, this game is called Hitler or Trump back. He prompted a takeover of the country's Congress or Reichstag, Hitler or Trump, going to say Hitler. Oh, you're half correct. It's both lost to previous election, Hitler or Trump, both, yes, yes, yes, said, I will get rid of the vermin, both Hitler or Trump, both you are correct, both said migrants are poisoning the blood of our country, both be, or you're right, both. This is crazy. I will take care of the threat from within both Hitler or Trump that was both that would be both. I'm starting to see. I'm starting to feel like the answer is C credits, the media and calls it fake news. Hitler or Trump is both again, that you're right, discredit scientists, Hitler or or Trump. And I hate to say it, it is both. Politicized the speech is given to youth and at scout rallies, both, both, yeah, you're right, correct. Yeah. Hires his own personal secret service, both. Both. Yes, you work. Blame's others blames the other side for that which he is guilty of, again, that's both. That's both. I've got a list of 70 more seriously. So hold that though, hold that for a moment. This is my point, okay? This is exactly my point is that you can't tell me that you're not what I say you are when you're behaving exactly as the way you are. You know what I mean? We have to we and I mean this for for any Trump supporter, I get it. You don't want a Democrat. I get it. You don't like the liberal agenda. I get it. You're freaked out by transgender and abortion and you're having a difficult time because, you know, inflation is is causing your grocery bill to go up. I get all of that, okay? But inflation in the United States is lower than it is anywhere else in the world. That was a global issue and it was a global issue because during the pandemic, corporations realized they could skyrocket profits. They could gouge. They could overcharge. And suburbs are crying about global problems because they're not aware of their surroundings. So they're not aware that they're not the only person on the basis. It's not just that. I think it's it's the they don't realize how bad it is outside of the pot. Okay. Like they don't realize how bad it is outside of this country. They're not informed enough on the daily politics. I'm not saying that they're uninformed. I'm saying that they're not paying attention to the fact that inflation is in the double digits in other countries and not just third world shitholes like Trump would lead you to believe. I mean, we're talking France. We're talking England. We're talking Ireland, we're talking like just Germany had an election that the conservatives were expected to win and never before in history had this happened, but the left all one. Yeah, because they realize in the France, they realized the existential threat that they were facing. This isn't see that's the thing is people understand this isn't conservative versus liberal. This is not that. Okay. This is democracy and the Republic continuing to exist as we know it or I had a Trumpism. I had watched an exchange unfold on Facebook the other day where a maggot was saying that the United States has turned into a third world country through Biden's actions. But I bet you they never met to a third world country to really see what it's like. Well, that's just it after listing what they felt was happening, which made it the United States of third world country. Somebody else popped in with a, what did you eat today? And the person had answered, you know, like, why are you interested in what I had for lunch? Well, because in most third world countries, they don't get a lunch. They have to work hard. They don't, they don't have the ability to just run out to McDonald's. Right. They have to go out and earn this food. If they're able. Yeah. If they're able. And if they're not, good luck. You better be counting on some serious generosity from friends, family or fucking strangers. Yes. So let's, let's get back to you for a moment. The moment or, you know, kind of what went down on Saturday. So my question is, and again, I don't want to sound like I'm a conspiracy theorist on this. I think it's very, very likely that what we're going to find out. I think it's very likely that what we're going to find out is that it was a miscommunication between local law enforcement and secret service. I think secret service was under the impression that local had that building secured and local was under the impression that secret service had it secured. And this kid just got fucking lucky to be able to get away with what he got away with. I think that that's the most obvious answer, but it does still feel suspect. It feels like, yes, there, there's many things that make me raise an eyebrow. I won't repeat some of the things that I've heard, well, some are just fucking ridiculous. Some are ridiculous, but some. So give me like your top three that you at least paused with. Not necessarily agree with, but made you take a moment and think it through. There's a picture of the secret service smiling. Yes, I saw that. Yeah. They're secret service allowing Donald Trump to raise a fist and poke his head up. Yeah, that screams to me. I'm not even going to voice it because I feel like that is still going down a conspiracy theory. It just looks a rabbit hole, but little things like that make me feel like they knew. Well, I did see the picture of them smiling. You were kind enough to sound that to me. I also, I will never get the audio out of my head and chuckle when I think we can get my shoes. How's my hair as he's about to stand up, right? But that's Trump. I think that at some point between getting nicked and going down and being tackled by secret service and then coming back up at some point, one of them had to have acknowledged, okay, we only see this wound on the ear and it looks pretty superficial considering. So I think that he knew that that was probably his only injury. However, I see that the problem that I have is him pumping his fist, poking his head out not once, not twice, but three times. And we didn't even know the kid had been shot yet. I mean, oh, but they, even if they knew that he had been shot, there was no way of telling if there was more than one. That's true. But apparently they did canoe his head. I mean, like canoe did. Yes. I've seen the photos. Oh, have you? I haven't. Yeah. Send them to me. They're bad, aren't they? There's also a picture of the kid before someone took a picture of him aiming. I saw that one. People knew. Yeah. I think I sent you that. And a friend of the show used to work for Homeland Security as a few insiders. I will say he believes that this was a job. Again, I don't, I really don't want to go down to conspiracy road on this because I think in the end, regardless of whether it was or was not some sort of conspiracy, I think that I feel like this could have been the mid-season cliffhanger. Yeah. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. You know, in the series of, you know, I'm watching the series finale over the next few months of the, the end of the U.S. That's so, you know it. So, so I want to say something before we go down any further, I do want to say something positive about Trump. Okay. And, and again, if I stutter through this, it's because the words feel funny coming out of my mouth saying something positive about Trump. Do you have a bucket nearby? I do. Just in case. Okay. He has definitely gotten the country engaged in politics, no matter whether you love him or you hate him. He has done more, he has done more to get people politically involved and out voting than probably any historical president. So, if the goal has always been how do we get people more active in politics, that's the one good thing he's done. The problem, I think. I will say, go ahead. I was going to say the problem is he's getting a lot of very uneducated people involved that, that are easily led. And, and this is no, this is with no disrespect to them. You know what I mean? Like, look, we all grow up in the environment that we grow up in and we all have, as children, all we have available to us, no matter how much we want to learn, no matter how much we try to teach ourselves, no matter how much fortune or misfortune we have from birth to 18, let's call it, your product of your environment to a certain degree and a lot of the environments aren't always the best, okay, for learning and you don't always have supportive parents that are able to teach you how to make it through that math class or that science class, they may not know themselves. So this isn't a disrespectful thing to say that people are ignorant when it comes to politics. I don't think saying that people are ignorant is a jab as much as it is a qualifying statement, okay? You're ignorant about a lot of things, you're ignorant about a lot of things, everyone is ignorant in the world and, you know, not your, until you know something. But these are specific things and they're kind of boring specific things. They're fun when you make them three word bumper stickers, you know, build that wall. Maga, you know, like keep it simple, stupid, and Trump as a master advertiser and merchandiser and hype man, he's really good at that. And we know that prior to him ever being involved in politics because of the way he ran his business in his life before, but he took it to a whole other level. And when you do that, you can get people excited about something that's boring and then gaslight them into believing that what you're doing for them is in their best interest. And the saddest part about this, and I mean this with every fiber of my body and in all sincerity, I really wish there was some way to help these people understand what it is that they are voting for. And I blame the education system for that. Yes. I blame a system where football is more important than trades. I blame the system where football or basketball is more important than government or civics or history or geography. I think that that is the biggest failure of our country. There can be a billion football. Well, football is what makes the school money. This is true. This is true. So that now we're making our educational system. You already know that teachers are having to dip into their own pockets. They're making 30, 40, $50,000 a year, and they're spending $10,000 a year just to be able to buy the supplies they need in order to teach the kids as much as they possibly can. Okay. I worked at Amazon and one of my co-workers was a full-time teacher who was moonlighting part-time for Amazon so that she could pay for materials in her class. Right. That's the problem. So when I say this, I hope to God, anyone who might initially try to take offense understands that it is with absolutely no disrespect that I said. But when it comes to voting for this party, unless you really do believe that that's what you want and understand what that is, you're being duped, you're being gaffled. You are unfunctionally ignorant to the reality of these issues. I want to know what convinced Vance to accept the vice-presidenthip. Well, he's 39 years old and that's going to set him up for the rest of his life. He's no fucking idiot. But before this, he referred to Trump as the American Hitler. He did. He did in 2016, 2017. He had a change of heart. That's what he says. Okay. Great. Look, I don't, I won't believe a word that comes out of JD Vance's mouth because I find it difficult to believe that you could go from, this guy is America's Hitler to his running mate in, what, six, eight years, whatever it was. I find that difficult to believe. I think that JD Vance is a opportunist. I think that he is only looking out for what he thinks is best for him and his family. And I don't fault him for that. That's fine. I mean, I just, I won't believe what he says. How can I believe what he says? Because he's not justifying in a way that makes sense, you know, like if you could take me down that train of thought a little bit better, okay, maybe, but this explanation does not add up. It only adds up as a creature of opportunity, somebody who's not experienced enough to run for president, but might be experienced enough. Was he a senator? I think. Yes. He's not even experienced enough as a senator, really. No. But with that being said, you know, the old adage, there's not one senator that doesn't wake up in the morning and look in the mirror and go, good morning, Mr. President. So I can see the arrogance. I can see the issue of wanting to have the opportunity to grab for power. But I also see the opportunity for him to kind of like ride the coattails without the real responsibility because no one really blames the vice president for much a shit unless it was Cheney, but we all knew Cheney was running that show. So there's a little bit of a difference there. No, no, the list goes on and on and goes back as far as, as you can imagine. But I think that this was an opportunistic thing for him because it really does set him up for the rest of his life, no matter what happens. My question for you, let's do some pretend. Okay. Let's, let's pretend that the bullet on the mark. What does the Republican party do that? Okay. So if it had that been a successful assassination attempt is basically what you're getting at. Yeah. I think that they would have immediately nominated Nikki Haley. That's exactly what I thought she would have been the obvious choice. I don't know who she would have picked for a running mate. She probably would have picked somebody that was a little bit more MAGA just to try to scoop up the votes and support. She would definitely be smart enough to look at the landscape and go, I need somebody that's either going to give me geography or is going to give me something that makes it worthwhile to have them on the ticket with me, something that I cannot bring to the ticket. I don't know if she would have picked a man or a woman, but what I do know would have happened is, and potentially we could still be in this, this situation. Everyone was saying that, you know, a few centimeters over had it gone through and had he been assassinated and you saw this all over social media, you know, you were less than an inch away from civil war. Well, no, no, no, that's not accurate. Okay. So less than an inch away from basically 1968, all right? So when it was an open convention in 1968, it was Democrats actually, a lot of violence broke out. You had, you had, you know, shootings on campuses. You had the list of Detroit rights. Yep. So you had Detroit rights. I mean, it was a very, very fraught political year, landscape. Yeah. State was horrific and that was built upon, you know, assassinations of JFK, RFK, MLK. So there was a lot of political tension. Now we're seeing the attempted assassination of DJT. And in that, I think what you would have seen come out of that would have been civil unrest amped up to 11. I think all the major cities would be burning. I think all the major cities would be, you know, the citizens would be either taking cover or taking to the streets. I think that there would have been a lot of violence, even in '68, how many people were killed? How many people were arrested? How many people were injured? They were, it was in the thousands if I'm not mistaken. So any time that you have something like that happen, even when Reagan was shot, it's almost like when these things happen, it's almost like it's on purpose. Because if you remember when Reagan was shot, Tip O'Neill was the speaker of the house. And this is a little bit high end based on where you were at that age. So I don't know if you know this or if you remember this or it might be news to you. But Tip O'Neill was Democrat. Reagan was clearly a Republican, yet there was a civility between the two of them. And when Tip O'Neill went to visit him in the hospital, not only did he kneel and pray by his bedside, but he kissed the man on the forehead and wished him a speedy recovery. That's the difference, right there. And you can say that I'm pointing out that Democrat was compassionate and kind and loving to another human being that politically, he was diametrically opposed to in every way, shape or form. And you can say, oh, you're just making the Democrat sound good there. But that's actually what fucking happened. That's just what fucking happened, okay? And that's my point. There are some times in life where we have to just acknowledge that fucking happened and there may not be a political reason behind it. It might just be that somebody is showing their fucking humanity. And that's what I felt with what Biden, how he handled the circumstance. Yeah, there was a political navigation going on. But in the end, you'd know that Biden is kind of that guy, you know, no matter what kind of politician you think he is, no matter what kind of president you think he is, no matter how much you can say, well, for 50 years, he wasn't able to get shit done. What's four more years going to do, he still ain't going to get shit done. That all may be true. But if it would have been the reverse, had it been Biden that got clipped in the ear, had it been Biden that went down, had it been Biden that popped up and wrestled away so he could pump his fist and say, fight, fight, fight to the crowd with blood dripping down his face. Would Donald Trump have been like, you know what, I reached out and got to hold a Joe and we talked. I don't think you would. I don't either. I don't think he's I don't think he's capable of that kind of kindness. In this day and age, I want to tell you a story before we end of how conflict should be. I don't know if you've ever heard about this, but there is still the war being fought between Canada and Denmark. Oh, really? Stop. You don't really stop, really? Yeah. That's been going on for how long then dates back to the 1970s. A landmark called Homs Island get over it. It's a small piece of land with no territorial advantage or mineral resource significance, essentially making it just a large rock in the middle of the water. It happens to be positioned between Denmark and Canada in such a way that allows both countries to claim ownership under international law. Now, it is called the Whiskey War. Why? In 1984, Canadian soldiers hoisted the Canadian flag with a sign saying welcome to Canada and left behind a bottle with Canadian whiskey. In response to this, Greenland's minister politely took down the flag and hoisted the flag of Denmark, and he left behind a sign that read welcome to Denmark, along with a bottle of Danish Schnapps. There began a continuous exchange of liquor bottles that gave it the name the Whiskey War. The war continues, and both countries maintain good humor. Each country takes turn, replacing each other's goods with their own. Respectfully, the flags are taken down with respect and are neatly folded. I love it. There is even a table now on the island where each other's flag, when it's taken down, it is placed onto the table with respect. I love that. It did have a casualty in this war. Oh, somebody dropped a shot? No. There is no malice involved. It's only been fun in games, but there was a casualty. All right. Denmark left behind a box of cookies that got wet and soggy. Yes. Oh my God. How did Denmark take that? The war has involved neither violence nor real casualties. Not a single bullet has been fired, not a single life lost. Though this war has been fought over an economically and strategically insignificant rock, it opened up a new world of possibilities when it comes to solving disputes. See, that I propose that more countries should get involved in this war, to the point where I think all wars should be fought like this. Yeah, that would be phenomenal, wouldn't it? I mean, you could get a little aggressive even and be like, I'm leaving chips and dip to like that. What? Huh? What? They really escalate this escalated quickly. That's the way it should be. And we are about to wrap up, but there's one other story. I got to tell you like, I don't know what it is about Trump, but he sure as shit does seem to get lucky a lot. Okay? Yeah. So he gets shot on Saturday and really had it not been for turning his head would be dead. Yeah. And then on Monday, Judge Cannon drops the secret document case. She drops it. That's fucking done. So not only did he have his life saved once within 72 hours, he had it saved twice. Well, there is going to be an appeal. Yes. Jack Smith has appealed. He does have history on his side. He cited the case in the Supreme Court had to deal with Richard Nixon, but she actually got the ruling incorrect. Well, not only did she get the ruling incorrect, she didn't even look back when the similar situation was applied to Mueller, the Mueller investigation and that judge, which was also a Trump appointed judge. See, this is what I don't get. Okay? They can't even take judgments that have come from judges that were appointed by Trump. Okay. So when you're to the point where it's like, Oh, no, it's an activist judge. Well, wait a minute. Who put them there? It was Trump. Well, that maybe is not an activist judge. Maybe it's somebody who's just following the fucking letter of the law. You know, so that's, that's where I really have a problem with all this. It will be interesting to see how this convention week wraps up. It will be interesting to see if they find their, their better angels, but I don't think they will. And I kind of think this cake has already baked. And I think that the only hope we have at this point is that there's enough women in, not just the country, but specifically the suburbs, that there's enough black women all over the country that there's enough black people and brown people who understand. You know, it gives me hope, hope for this election. People getting informed and luckily project 2025 has been Googled more than even Taylor Swift and the Super Bowl. That's actually, that does give me a little bit of hope. I didn't know that, but that does give me a little bit of hope. I think if people understood not only what project 2025 is, but what the backup version of that is, which is agenda 47, and we did do podcasts on both of those. So you can check those out if you want. But really what you need to do is the work you need to go and directly from the fucking heritage website. You know what I mean? Don't believe two podcasters. Go Google that shit. Okay. Do you know how many heritage found out? We know that Trump has disavowed knowing anything about heritage on the nation. But he's lying about that because of the speeches given there. Yeah, I'm pretty sure he also said, the checks in the mail and I won't come in your mouth. And how many people work for Trump that work at heritage foundation. It's like 80 percent. It's like 80 percent. 66. Oh, is it? Okay. 66 people or percent? Yeah. 66 people, which is, I think like 80 percent of their fucking work for us. So, I mean, like I said, there's so many things going on right now and apologies again. I always want to put out a funny one. I'd much rather put out a funny one than a political one. Unfortunately, this is the insanity that we're living through right now. This is craziness. We would love to do different topics. We've got plans for all these topics. I can't tell people. People just can't get to. Yeah. The other thing is, is like, even if we did a pod every single day and released it the following day, yeah, we would still probably be stuck in this rut. And the reason we're stuck in this rut is because these are crazy times. There are so many things going on that are far more important than being silly. Like this is, this is country changing. This is, your life could alter drastically. Your rights and your freedoms could be stripped from you services that you have government services that you have enjoyed or feel that you have paid into and deserve could be dissolved. This is not small stuff, especially when you're talking about the project 2025 plan, especially when you realize that all he's doing with project 47 or agenda 47 is just, these are the ones I'm going to do first, big league. This is, this is an important time. And again, I cannot emphasize enough. I am very, very happy that he is not dead. I don't want to see any political person, opponent or, or, or, compadre killed needlessly over political violence. That's bullshit. I don't, I don't condone it, but he's still dangerous politically. Yes. And if, if you don't educate yourself on, on project 2025, I get it, it's 900 plus pages, but there are plenty of people online that have broken it down for you. There's lawyers online that have done YouTube videos, breaking it down for you. There's plenty of opportunity for you to digest that information in a very concise way. And if you think, oh, that's just a liberal view, read it yourself. You can read it yourself. We have to start believing that what people are saying they're going to do is that they're going to do that. We have to start believing when they say, this is the person I am, that that's who they are, until shown otherwise. So with that, it's another Elsie's little pickles, baby.
