We're gonna let you segue in We're gonna be here for about 45 minutes and we are good to go We have a little technical difficulties yesterday with the parent company So I want to get right at it, but we should be good for 45 minutes. Welcome isabella take it away, please Thanks so much, Bill. Yeah, so good to be here and yeah, I really liked that intro there and this is gonna be about water and hydration and Where I like to start with this with people is by pointing out that when you look at your blood It is mostly water if you look at the plasma, so and of course everybody knows that your blood is What carries most of the nutrients the energy that yourselves required to function and as well that your blood carries oxygen and takes away co2 and Takes away cellular debris or basically the the mini poop and pee version from your cells, right? So your your blood is such an essential Connective tissue in your body and one of the most important things about the blood health is to keep it flowing and one of the main ways we do that is by making sure it is well mineralized and well hydrated and So that's where to start with blood. That's why I mean to start with water and that's why water is such an important part of your everyday life and just to Just to give people a quick overview of all the things that can go wrong When your hydration level isn't on par and with what you need I'm talking about In the acute sense. I'm talking about You'll feel things anything from fatigue to memory and concentration difficulties It's such a wide range of symptoms. So specifically acute dehydration includes fatigue anxiety cravings darker urine muscle cramps Hatic we kind of we're all kind of familiar with those But I think a lot of people that I work with are not aware of the first three that I mentioned They're not aware that fatigue is really influenced by dehydration or anxiety That's a huge surprise or cravings. I think people are getting a little You know wiser about the craving part and you know trying to drink some water before they go right to eating when they Sense that they want food, but the first two I think people are like very very shocked to hear that and it's and it's and it's the reason fatigue and anxiety Rise when you are truly dehydrated or can rise is just like I talked about before your blood If it is stagnating and it has most of the energy The resources for yourselves to create energy So if all those resources aren't being Efficiently delivered and instead it's like gooey and sticky and all that You know, you don't really want to swim in that river so to speak Of course yourselves are going to express fatigue overall Of course, you're going to have more anxiety because anxiety is a not only a mental as in what kind of thoughts You think and what kind of personality you have but anxiety is definitely also a factor of how stressed your body is Is your body too stressed at dealing with? Stagnating muddy waters full of let's see metabolites That your body has to get rid of but if it's too slow and too stagnant then your body Slow down and your you feel down and that increases the amount of energy body has to Push into the system to try to get all these metabolites out of your systems These toxins out and so anxiety is often a counter. It is often a side effect of that and your brain preferably will Take all the resources you give it and prioritize, right? It will keep you breathing it will keep you thinking you know at a very basic level and you know walking But every other system will be down regulated Until you get more resources in the system. So you don't have to feel good for example Why not feel anxiety instead, you know, we don't have enough neurotransmitter resources or hormonal resources to create the feel good hormones No problem. Let's just to the baseline of anxiety and May sometimes even depression Or more intense emotions like anger So yeah, that's that's the acute side of dehydration if you don't If you don't make sure that you're adequately hydrating your body every day That's what will happen like very quickly. I was in a few hours within a few days of dehydration and then What happens if you chronically ignore it? That's where I also surprise people with the list of symptoms and signs that are associated with chronic dehydration So here's the list We've got colitis So that is inflammation of the colon We've got heartburn Constipation back pain and joint pain Exercise asthma Isabelle I'm sorry I want to interject really really quickly because I think it behooves the audience with all due respect to them In the adjacent video display board Unless yours truly forgot to put them there, but I'm pretty sure I did All of this information as isabella comes each and every month. It's all embraced around her previous Months a newsletter to include this one and I really wanted to highlight the graphics That are within the said newsletter those of you that may be a recipient of it Of course, no this but those of you that may not yet be a recipient of a very informative newsletter in the video display Especially I'm pretty sure I definitely inserted this one I took the liberty to copy some of her Wonderful pictures that are great about how to transport the water But particularly particularly particularly you're not to minimize any of the other ones There's a great depiction of the blood that she just alluded to in a test tube depiction so sometimes If we play to all the senses, I've found that if I can see it Maybe not touch it right at this moment if you will, but if I can see it and hear it I know it behooves myself So I just thought that would be a great point for folks to maybe look at the display board and you're doing a great job Verably, of course, but I think it might be a great transition for them being able to see what you're talking about if you will so continue No, that's fantastic. I love that. Um, and yes, please look at these photos I I only tried to put in helpful They're great and really okay, you know all by yourself, you know me I yeah, I would respectfully not say anything if I didn't feel that way, but they're great. They're so They're so depictive and yeah, I'm gonna let you talk to you. They're great. Everybody check it out. Please continue No, I appreciate that a lot and um well, so what we are So all of us is to say that Not only are the acute signs of dehydration or the quickest signs and the chronic signs That is if you ignore your hydration requirements for weeks for months for years Like I've just listed you have some pretty common symptoms on that I almost list and I can't tell you how often I've heard people I complain of headaches Especially, I think this is especially very common among the younger younger people so you know around the teenage time when like your parent isn't Making sure you're drinking enough water It's very common for teenagers to have headaches and an extra glass They had it goes away within a minute. It's very very common every parent that ever talked to can Describe that story in one way or another with their teenager So this is really important, but the thing is it doesn't only apply to teenagers who forget This is also for us adults Because we we don't know that things like heartburned constipation Joint pain and bad pain like who would have known Yeah, keep that in mind We see I'm sorry we seniors are definitely guilty of that in case in point one of my shows workouts for geriatrics Water really good, you know, they really got dedicated to all I look you know I want to do the workout I'm paying attention to the nutrition and with all due respect No, you know when the first thing you tell me is well I really don't hydrate while I work up And I'm not making fun of them. I'm not making a lot of times We've been conditioned through the years that we never really trained even though there's an element of common sense to some degree But yeah, I mean he hydrates and rears its ugly head in so many ways that are so easily Arrestable that you're doing such a great job expanding upon continue And I really appreciate that you brought that up because it reminds me of a point that I did not mention in my newsletter But I wish I had and that is the fact that I learned in school very all very early on that First signals as we get older decrease So it's even more important just like you mentioned that as we get as you get older And this is including middle-aid adults guys Your third signals will decrease over time. So just know that and Get into the right habits. That's my top recommendation early on my my favorite my the easiest way I usually Add water into my client's life is by having them drink a glass or two Yeah, as soon as they wake up it depends on how big they are, you know how tall and how much they are there stomach and handle You might want to ease into you might not want to drink a couple kilos a cheese a little bit and she's a little bit Yeah, exactly and recently I've also heard a lot of talk about how from people that I respect and Deeply admire in the biohacking community and the functional medicine and nutrition space and they're talking about how Well, what is the glass of water? Like this is nonsense. What is how big is a glass of water? Anyway, these these recommendations are just nonsense So we shouldn't listen to them and we should only listen to our sense of thirst and To them, I'd say Actually, we absolutely have a measure for a glass of water It is I believe I don't remember off the top of my head in the US how you'd refer to it but at glasses 250 milliliters the glass is what you'd picture in a typical cartoon or Movie you've watched it is what you imagine it to be so There is so four glasses give you one liter of water Okay, it it there is absolutely a number to a glass and then like we said we mentioned about the thirst signal that dies that really decrease it doesn't die, but it completely, but it really does decrease over time so I'm not aware of how to increase that Signal in your body your thirst signal as you get older. So until we do It is better to just stay on top of it have a goal every day. For example a very The way I started off this nutrition letter was saying something along the lines of you know If you were an average person was an average job with average hobbies, you know Science today still cannot recommend an average daily adequate amount of water for you to drink Like surprise like so when you ask how much should I drink and how much is ideal for me? The science is still out on it and in a way science is always still up But here we don't even have a real good idea of what even adequate So all all my recommendations around water is so by individual and the best advice I can give to people is to start with a baseline and Base because everybody's can be such a different height such a different weight such a different Let's see hobbies job requirements what else There are different sexes and they have different requirements. You have different digestion status so all these things and your stress levels all these things play a part in what your Optimal daily number is but here's where I'd want to start Despite all the variants in the world out there. I'd say I want everybody to get at least 1.5 liters a day and I believe one liter in American is 32 ounces So that's 32 ounces plus half of that Now Start there. I think even that's even safe for most teenagers and then from there you got to watch the Physical symptoms and signs of your body to be to modify from there a very classic one for example is that people start peeing a lot more And you don't want to be peeing all the time and I Definitely not For most people I'd recommend you want to be within the range of three to five Times a day for your name correct That's a definitely margin to maintain and in aspire to for those that might not currently be in that cycle pun intended It's really it's important to leave that margin and I want to I want to let people know why that margin is a little you know a little fake and it's because because There is such a variance of what you need to be doing every day people work people work out people go on vacation people sometimes they just eat something that Maybe you is lower in carbohydrates One day, you know for a day They just just don't eat as many carbohydrates Let's say and what happens then is that your liver will break down the stored carbohydrates so to speak or glycogen in your liver and by the way Glycogen is stored in your liver along with a lot of water so whenever you break down the glycogen stores or carbohydrate basically based energy in your liver your body will release a lot of water so And it's called carbohydrate for her reason Let's say you just accidentally don't eat a lot of carbs On Monday then choose and then on Monday you go to the bathroom like two or three more times With a hefty amount coming out just because it's just your body's natural way to deal with the extra You know we always intimate the innate trait that the body does have of course We have to allow it, you know some help along the way in a real quick point, which I know you'll continue on Source water the best that you can have Obviously accentuates the potency and then if you have a pretty good source of water Actually, if you drink a liter liter and a half a day as isabella said you actually are Redubinating your blood in and of itself by consuming that leader and leader in a half And of course the better the source the more focus is open but continue with that thought because it's so important. I Really appreciate that Everything you say, I'm like, oh, that's so good. I'm really I'm really happy that you said that it's it really is So important and I not actually ties very very closely into The peeing and how much you urinate every day and using that is a sign of whether or not you're drinking the optimal amount of water for you so let's say you You you start drinking 1.5 liters, and you used to just drink who knows three or four glasses That's like a leader or thirty two ounces. So let's say you drink two more glasses of water and now you're at 1.5 liters So let's say you start going to the bathroom like ridiculously often And you feel like you can't go anywhere So to speak I'm tapped out Well, I'm here to tell you that it might not be the amount of water you're drinking but rather the mineral content of your water if your mineral content of your water isn't is Is basically absent if it's like sterile water, basically pure H2O It's extremely depleting to drink that just so you know, it's like if you imagine a Colored dye being a drop of colored dye being dropped into a bucket of water You watch that dye slowly spread and diffuse throughout the entire water bucket now It's the same thing for minerals Minerals Diffuse throughout the entire water and kind of gives the water a kind of Grabability is what I like to say so that if you put that bucket of mineralized water into your system The cells in our body so when it's in your bloodstream the cells in our bodies less mineralized So they will suck that highly mineralized content into themselves so as long as the the blood is internalized it will give that hydration and the water will push it into your cells So kind of like the opposite of the the drop of dye in the bucket of water kind of sense so it's really important just to think of minerals in your water as a way to increase the grabability of your water and if you're and one more time if your water is absolutely deficient in minerals or you've filtered it which is if you have a good filter it will basically get rid of everything including the minerals that you like and You interjected filters and there's in there's so many name brands and I know you're a fan of Berkeley and so am I but they're but filters business basically folks and we all know this depending on where we hang our ass this virtually no tap water That's impugned to all kinds of funky stuff nowadays and again, wherever you may be In the degree of whatever and let's never forget went in another story for another cause in a way that it happened But it's all kinds of funky it's all kinds of funky stuff in tap water now There just is there is there is Thus is why before I interrupted her I think the filters on tap water. We do the best we can not everybody can you know Be available nice clean source water and it gets into expense in some areas and deliveries and all of that So we're doing the best we can a good filter Which I'm sure she's gonna take away right now can make all the difference in the world from why you're readily available drinking water continue Yeah, please, please filter your water even okay, I'll definitely get to filters because Oh my god, I found I found a little dust of gold. I'm rich. I'm kid a little bit, but the more you filter that out You know think of it that way my crazy analogy. You're filtering out You're doing everything that you can do in a defense mechanism by taking is a bill I don't tune filters for sure continue. Yeah, exactly. Um, I Yeah, we'll definitely touch them filters very soon and luckily we actually have a lot of time Comes every month folks comes every single month and of course We're encouraging you guys and gals and I think some of you are Please do reach out to Isabella direct the indoor via the message board here Continue and she shall we tap that for us before she leaves to the offer to to contact herself directly I wanted to squeeze around him. So continue Not a problem. I love it. Um, well, we will absolutely get to filters very soon, especially Berkey and the many other options out there, but I do want to make sure that I Touch on one trend in particular. So if you've heard of these trends where you drink a gallon of water a day and like It's supposed to be this weight loss miracle thing. Um, so that is can be very dangerous. Um, so Anything by the way in in too much quantity can kill you including water Now it might not be a gallon for most people. However, what I do think can happen in Those sort of challenges is that the minute the water that they drink is not mineralized enough And so they're totally peeing all the time And so here's the thing about What here's the long-term consequences of that you are basically de-mineralizing your body. So whenever you Um, flush a system It will slowly draw out minerals from your body So if this if the system isn't flushed with highly mineralized water, then your then your body always has to donate Minerals to get rid of the water that you're introducing Um, because anything in excess can throw off your body and kill you like like 100 percent. Um, no Just so just know that when you see those challenges Um, make sure at least if you want to try it You make sure you add minerals into your water that you're using Um, because it will reduce By huge amounts how much you need to go to the the bathroom And it will reduce reaching that you're putting yourself through um Of your already low mineral stores you guys we already have very low mineral Stories in our bodies across the board across north america As a population and that's already not a good thing So and today when when people Carrotake was a colleague of mine said that A carrot taker picked up his young son one day and she was like Wow, he's actually heavy Um, these kids these they are so light they're like birds like their bones these days just aren't They aren't full of these great minerals these kids are Just basically nothing it's very very sad. Um, and Kids should be heavy in that sense of the bones are fully like very dense and all that good stuff And not in the heavy as an obese and full of visceral fat like not that heavy But it's really important to notice those trends So the reason we are these kids are getting more fragile is just because the minerals aren't there in our body And now if you're drinking more water, you run the risk of further Demineralizing of your body if there aren't enough minerals in your water, and I want to make a quick note that Um, there are probably many good mineral drops out there and I use one in particular And there's no affiliation or anything, but I believe it's from the utah in the united states It's a fantastic company and the price is incredibly low I buy one bottle for like 20 or 30 bucks and it lasts me years At least a year for sure, um, but i'm sure i've had mine for years So that's it. That's the cost of this. It's not a lot. It's high quality. It's even from north america So i'm really happy that that's available to people and You know, it's all linked on my blog for exactly the name of it Utah trace minerals, I believe you should just want to google search it right now So that is minerals And that's about the challenges the water challenges, but now let's talk a little bit more about filtering your water So this is going more into, um my detailed recommendations that people do for uh sourcing their own water and um So the first thing is of course the filter now I It's just unfortunately the case at the moment that for most of us city dwellers Um, we need to filter our drinking water at release the drinking water I I I would say a whole house filter is also really smart, but minimum water that you drink and So now you don't the reason you want to do this is that you don't want to add toxicity to your bloodstream Remember like I talked about your blood. It's like a river It slows everything down if you add too much toxins to it. So today most urban areas have poor quality water Served at the tap and well, it's laced with lead Mercury sometimes even uranium it's it's real guys you guys the first time I heard this years ago Maybe 10 years ago. I was like really uranium no way But here's the thing it's very simple to figure out if that your local water has it or not All you got to do is search online for your local water bench local water management Safety and quality reports just put the name of your town and then look for water safety and quality report In many places there are legal requirements for cities to have this Now just look at what they're measuring in your water and they even will often detail which reservoirs of water bodies um They are measuring so and notice what they measure and notice what they don't measure like um Well, I'll talk about it later, but now you have take a look at what's on there. They will have absolutely um traces of lead Mercury and uranium like absolutely you will see Almost water reports. I've seen I've seen all three in some amounts now you guys you don't want I don't know about you. I don't want any amount of that. There's no there's no like minimum effective anti poisoning That you can take uranium right like you're not going to get stronger if you take a little bit of green in every day a little long ways That's right and a little little continually very quick now compare your standards for your city to other city safety standards for other countries And you'll notice especially if you look at Europe that they're very different. So they'll for example say that um, they're looking for They'll say here's the amount of heavy metals in the drinking water and here is a range of safe amounts of this that we allow in the drinking water And if you look at those safety ranges and you compare them across countries, you'll see very big differences I particularly between Europe And North America. It's it's very very very different and of course the standards are better in Europe everything everywhere where i've seen so far And that is just something to keep in mind And of course all of this is bleeding into why I want you to filter your water Um, and this is the way to convince yourself that you really need to do this. Um, now Now that you have a numbers in front of you consider one question Ask yourself is any amount of some of these toxins On this on this list is acceptable Is any of it acceptable for you or your friend or family? Is any amount of light acceptable for you? The answer is probably no And then The last step is to decide what is best for you and your family and Go for it. Some people I recommend you go and collect spring water after you test it And for some people I what if they just don't have that Sometimes they don't even have a car, right? So like you can't even go um and For other people I recommend just go ahead go for it burky um There's even better ones today and I haven't kept up with the newest latest best filters, but burkeys Uh, the reason I was very impressed with burky in particular was that Like supposedly you can put mud at the top and you've got clear water at the bottom So that's like the heavy dudiness of Pretty good real quick interjection and you know sci-fi movies. Nobody's saying anything when I say what's coming next Sci-fi movies if you had to prep for whatever reason Yeah, there's a real good inflatable filler backpack, you know fanny pack that type of thing Yet even if you're you know out hunting or whatever extreme you want to use, you know, you can always have Accessibility to water under dire circumstances with the right equipment to help you do what we're out alluding through the body being Able to heal itself, but uh Yeah, continue continue because I have a fraud at the end of the show that we're all in this together to help everybody Isabella and myself and I got an idea at the end of the show that maybe Would be interesting for all of us. So continue isabella. I'm sorry. I'm intrigued. That's fine Well, um, and I just I want to touch on the spring water. Um, I'm amazing one of my early um Inspiring fellow human beings is daniel by talus and arthur hanes Both I'm so sorry. I'm so sorry danny by talus has the history here in mane Very very reputable And what i'm about to talk about at the end of the show's hand to heart He was integral in the boat 14 or 15 years ago. Oh, I think I know what you're talking about I think you do and it does entail just to play around with play on words and having some fun here today We are trying to get we are trying to wet your appetite And it does perhaps pertain to a really good source of spring water continue Is it okay? Continue continue. I I I I really owe a lot of my A lot of these ideas early before I went to school to Um his podcast. He is While yourself and he is one of the men for sure for sure as an impolacious Continue continue. I'm really glad he exists and that he does Everything about the outdoors and I mean that He knows everything about why we're in the outdoors continue continue and I I certainly appreciate that he also He's very open about what he doesn't know and I love how he's Early Much like yourself much like yourself if he can't answer it immediately He will get you and answer much like yourself continue Wow, that's a huge compliment, but um, I remember in particular he would say like he's an early onset adult hunter I think like, you know, he just didn't learn learn how to hunt until he was an adult And I think that's just an awesome, you know, sign of humility. He just wants to be competent He knows he's not an expert, but he knows how to build competence and I I really appreciate that and Can I drop the the resource now that he gave this website? Um, is it okay if I reveal it now? That's amazing. We were gonna say the same thing so many years ago. He he was the He was a reason this website came alive. It's called find the spring dot calm, I believe and yeah, you just and people will just add Um, geographical point to the these maps or addresses Maps, I believe it's all around the world. There's a lot of them for north america a lot of sites So even if you're not sure if there's a spring around where you live, um, right Look at that website and put in your address and you'll actually see a bunch Um, and if you have a car in particular, this will be Absolutely worth your while and the of course the only thing I would absolutely recommend. I can't because Things like pesticides are airborne And many other things are airborne. I can't just say 100 But it's always the best choice for people. So I always say please Find a third lab to send a water quality sample to before you just Have your entire life from this the spring water source. Um, um, I don't want you to get in a situation where you just happen to be beside Some sort of farming area or community and there just happens to be a whole bunch of either heavy metal contamination or Um agricultural runoff in that water or the last one being Um, if it happens to be close to an industrial light area and a lot of that Um, airborne pollution has slowly come down from the clouds onto the water body And water tables and slowly seeped through into that spring water So all of that is very real guys So I love what he does and that he wants people to reconnect to the wild But he also knows and talks about it all the time that um, particularly in his show Uh wild fed which is a second podcast very highly recommend that podcast and how you know, you really should take You know Take responsibility measure and then expose it and then decide what to go from there right compare the water quality standards Um, that you want in your body Make a decision. Um test don't guess Now All that being said Um, there's definitely more things they about like what what I want to really recommend for people Um Big picture here for hydration is that Remember that minerals matter Remember the quality matters So quantity matters Quality matters And of course mineralization matters Those are the big three categories that I work with my own clients on all the time wherever they are in the world And we are always able to um, find a solution for all All three and never worked with someone that hasn't found a good solution for all of them and However, um that As a sign from your body other than the first And that you need water Uh, is or that you're drinking too much water is if you're peeing way too much And that's also a sign of a lack of mineralized water So, um and other than that Other than that, that's it. That's it. It's really really not Not that complex And I highly recommend you just start with one thing Start with, uh, even if it's not not the best water yet Um, just add two water one or two glasses of water when you wake up Start the day on track, right?
