This week on the Alabama Freshwater Fishing Report, we’re starting off with a talk with Fly Fishing Alabama Guide Ande Whitten to talk about fly tying desks and tools. Ande is a longtime smallie guide on the Tennessee River, and he recently launched the Small Creek Smallies Youtube Channel, where he publishes lots of cool warmwater “guide fly” ties that he fishes with clients. Join us as Ande shares what a fly tying desk can tell him about its owner, his favorite fly tying materials, and his thoughts on expensive UV curing lights.

Next up we have Matthew Frazier coming in from the Mobile, AL area. Matthew is the man behind the “Take Back Big Creek Lake” Facebook group that has been gaining traction in the angling world down in LA, and this week he’s here to give a report on the current situation after attending both Mobile County Commission and MAWSS board meetings. For those not in-the-know, Big Creek Lake, a much-beloved fishing spot that has built a reputation for producing trophy-sized bass and crappie, was declared as “permanently closed” to fishing back in February. Matthew is here this week to explain why he and others consider this unacceptable.
