Welcome back to the Binting Podcast that nobody asked for. I am Nat. I'm Sam. I'm James. I'm Joe. Season three episode five, Ben Wolf. After tangling with a werewolf. After tangling with a... A what? Season three episode five, Ben Wolf. After... Roll the back, roll the back. Take three. Season three episode five. After tangling with another ho. Take four. Season three episode five. After tangling with a werewolf on... Season three episode five. After tangling with a werewolf on Navajo land, Ben starts becoming one. All right, let's... Damn. I'm just got to show it up by a dyslexic. I'm allowed to say it because I am. I am allowed to say it because I am. Oh my god. So I like Ben Wolf. I love Ben Wolf. There was some fairy stuff in here. Oh yeah, there was some No, yeah, that goes a little freaked. Oh, like, you're a little freaky. Freaky. Freaky. I could train you. So did Ben did invent probes? Or... No. I suppose they've been around a lot more than that. Yeah. Maybe they popularize fairies. No. We're just hearing about it now. You know what? I believe, like, I love our little same textures. Let's not go do a very side tangent. I can't tell you. I'm not quite sure, if I'm honest. I get confused with what a fairy is. Oh, it's people who dress up in fair seats. Well, like, yeah, I don't know. It's... And then... It's pretty... And then at, like, they are. Okay, so here's a can of worms. I don't even know so much about it yet. Smosh. Smosh has talked a lot about it. Okay, so here's I think that's kind of a can of worms. So what we can do is open it and then deal with the worms. Or hear me out. We just put it to the side. Okay, but we'll close the can. Yeah, yeah, talk about the can of worms though. I really want that one. What's your first son of a son? All right. So what we do is put these worms away to the side. And yeah, so really love... I'm a big fan of worms. So I'm a... Ben Wolf is one of my favorite. I also, like, mouth God, they're opens like a gun. Predator, the Sonic Blast. Oh, it's so cool. I love that alien. So, so, so cool. It just, it just keeps adding to his repertoire of aliens and just keeps leveling up and just don't. Fun fact, when they reached Omniverse, they renamed Ben Wolf to Wolf Blitzer. Or Blitz Wolf. One of those two. Blitz Wolf, I believe. Is it still the same design or... Pretty much it's a... Yeah. I mean, it was a pretty good design. I like to... I mean, what, we saw like three different phases of it. A couple... Three phases. Three, like, main phases of the thing. The same name, the same name as one was called. Yeah. Yeah. We got, we got a little bit of a teen Wolf if you were a teen Wolf. We did, like, the first transformation was very teen Wolf. Well, technically, he is 10 years old. But... Blitz Wolfer. Blitz Wolfer. Pretty Wolfer. Blitz Wolfer. I don't know if I'm a big fan of that. It sounds like a German. It does sound like a German. It sounds like a... Like, say, a officer or something. Yeah. It's Wolfer. Yeah. Blitz Wolfer. So, apparently, Yennel Dushy is the... Another, her word for Skinwalker. Oh, that makes him... Don't mention those things. He's talking about teen Wolf Skinwalker. No, I'm talking about... Is it Skinwalkers? It's a, there's the thing in, like, America that, like, you don't mention. It's, it's one of those, like, uh, you know, lore, uh, lore monsters. Like, like, Skinwalkers are pretty short or like something. Skinwalkers, um, it really depends on what history and what take you out. There's many different takes. There's the, for example, um... Technically, I'm a Skinwalker. I walk in my skin. Yeah, but these things steal your skin. So, okay, yeah, so there's many... So, so, so, in terms of the mythology, there's a couple... There's a Skinwalker where they use the animal heist to transform typically coyotes. Mm-hmm. Is, I believe, the old terminology where they have a skin of a coyote and they put them on and they become a coyote. I think that's, like, the number one version of it. Now, it gets creepier the more for the backy go of them stealing human skin. There's been very, many different retellings of this throughout the years. Some of them, it's just regular shape shifters. Some of them, it's a pelt. Most of the time, though, it is a pelt that they put on to ship. Um, in terms of normally, I think the evil spirits for memory. Well, I... And why are you looking at me like, I know? I always just thought they were like, folklore, kind of, wants to... There's ghouls there and, like, supposed to like, pop culture. Well, I thought there were just kind of like ghouls that, like, steal your skin. Like, they look disgusting. Like, pale, white, vampirish look that steal your skin and wear it to appear as human. No, I think so, but the Native American legend, I think, and creeped, because I'm not... None of us were well done. None of us, I was. This is, this is, this is straightly coming from, I've read a lot of urban fantasy book sets in America, that normally it is a pelt of some kind, that they put on. Normally, it's an animal pelt, and normally, they are evil, but there are stories of them stealing stuff. Okay. Oh, I guess disguised as an animal to lure you in or something, or like... No, I think they turned into an animal beneath you. If we had done this when we... When I was, like, 13, I was studying a lot of American Native American history, so I would have been able to tell you. Now, now, in 2024, definitely cannot tell you. Yeah. Ancient or vampire lore says they turned into pumpkins. Interesting. Are you f***ing with me? Oh. No, seriously, like... No, it does a lot. Oh, it does a lot. When what we do in the shadows, the film came out, a year after the film came out, most of the cast were at Armageddon Expo for a panel, and they were talking about a bunch of stuff that they didn't put in the film, because they were going back into, like, old vampire lore. And they basically said that, because in the film, they turned into all sorts of animals, you have germane implements face on a cat at one point, and it's just kind of like, yeah, and that's all, like, in all this old lore about vampires and stuff, and there's actually some stuff that was so weird we didn't put it in, because we thought people would think we met up, such as turning into pumpkins. Yeah, this is a lot of weird lore. But hey, Ben Wolf. Ben Wolf's great. I really like the design. I'm sad we don't. I know Ben Wolf does it appear a lot throughout the series, which is kind of sad. I think I think we might only get one other transformation. Yeah, that's my thought as well. I think we get like one on Earth. Did you ever, was Ben Wolf ever a playable alien in any of the games? I don't think so. No, I think in the, um. Protector of Earth came out to serve. You get up to a wild vine. Yeah. Yeah. You get up to a wild vine. I don't even think you get ghost. A protector of Earth, you've only got like six. Yeah, you don't have a lot, because that, because Villager's alien thing steals a lot of the DNA. Oh, yeah, that's right. And you're getting the DNA back. Yeah. Because Villgax attacks is the first one to have you play as 10 aliens, specifically the alien force roster minus alien X, but including Cannon Bolt. Yeah. That, that alien force game actually, it had a really interesting thing was if you were doing two player and you both did like the exact same combo as an alien, or like there's this long combo you can do that every alien has, and it's sometimes the combo is different. There's this one like ultimate move you can do from putting in this long combo. And if both you and player two put that combo in like simultaneously, you both start glowing green and then the screen explodes. That's an alien force, not a little bit. All right. Yeah. But get your facts straight, Sam. But yeah, keep going, keep going. Yeah. And it explodes the screen green and basically everything guys. And I just remember, I think it was you with you, we were just spamming that like if we go in and we were like, do the move. Do the move. Yeah, but there are attacks. Is that like, um, you had it on PSP. I'm pretty sure. Bogak's attacks. Yeah. Because I remember you had a benting game on PSP. And it was an alien force one. And it wasn't cosmic destruction and it wasn't alien force. So it had to have been Bogak's attacks. I swear I had one on PS2 as well. You did. Yeah. But yeah, no, you had alien force on PS2 and Bogak's attacks on PSP. Yeah. Yeah. I remember the benting particular though. I'm like the PS2 one. I remember there was always a room I going around. Oh, you can play as upgrade if you have the PSP version of it. I don't know. You could. It was a school yard. You know, it was a school yard. It was a discrete propagated. And the room is started because upgrade is the best. I don't know about that. Who's your favorite alien, Joe? From a favorite, yeah. If I had to just pick one. Yeah. Let's say up to this point right now. Yeah. So you get 13 choices. Yep. Yeah. That's the number. Are we just talking about like show? I don't know why I looked at you so. Yeah. I know you're doing that. Yeah. That's the number James. I'll say something. You're looking at me really just like, can I say something wrong? Apologies. No, no, no, no. That's all right. It's a, you know, it's a lot to pick from. You know, like Ben Wolf is pretty cool. I think as a kid, I'm just going off myself as a kid. I think I really liked Pete Blust. Pete Blust? Yeah. Yeah. Ben Taver. Yeah. Ben Taver. Yeah. Ben Taver. Yeah. Ben Taver. Yeah. It was a good choice. Solid. Yeah. Well, this has been a, this has been a fruitful discussion. Yeah. Yeah. But now, Ben Wolf is one of my favorite episodes. I like it. You get a little bench of the individual head. It's great. It's just fun. It's so fun. Oh, I mean, one thing that I kind of found interesting was when they're using, they're about to use the coin and the wheel, the wheel of alien, I guess, you know, it looks like it goes, oh. Yeah. He's like, oh, shit, that's going to kill me, but it does nothing. I think it's more that he doesn't know. He's like, oh, they seem to think that's important. Maybe it's dangerous to me. Yeah. Also, it's a mental disc. And it's an alien. He's assuming, like, it's technology and something going on near. And also, if someone's holding up something that looks like an electronic device and trying to get it on your chest, you can, you're going to assume you might think it's a grudge match situation. Yeah. He might think it's a grudge match situation. Well, thank God. Season two, episode five. Thor, Ragnarok. What one where they get stuck in your laboratory arena? Yeah. On to the next episode. Woo! Season three, episode six, game over. Ben and Gwyn get trapped in a sumo slammer's video game and must work with the game's main character in order to return to the real world. I like video game episodes with people get sucked inside the video game. That's cool. That's fun. Ben tended it well. I also like video games. I liked how all the aliens, when they took form, except for upgrade, they all had samurai armor on and stuff. So, especially for arms had a really cool design in this episode. I liked a whole bit where the the level ups became separated from Ben and you had to go collect them because in the video game, the actual benton video game, they do that. Yeah, you just have to click game. Yeah. Because it's just makes so much sense as the video game level up thing is that as you go, you collect more. So, yeah, I just thought like the icons and like searching the boxes, everything was just so neat. Yeah. And I also like new games. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. So, I don't think it's surprising that everyone here during a Ben 10 podcast liked video games. But I do think it's kind of funny that the previous episode was the one where we started talking about video games, as opposed to this one, which is actually about video games. Should we talk more about the Ben 10 video games? Yeah. Sure. I like them. They normally done quite well. They are a little bit repetitive and nice and metric. They kind of like, it's like fixed camera angles and the combos are all not fixed camera angles. It's a stood person. Fixed camera is like the first reason I don't know. It's like third person, but it's like, um, it's like you go into an area where you're finding a bunch of things and it's not like over the shoulder. It's like, you're right. Sorry. Yeah. Yeah. It's like a kind of like, you've got the whole view and it's like, yeah. It's as if where they're finding there's a stage. Yeah. Yeah. That's the most recent one for the reboot. Oh, wow. I think Vilgax attacks is a hope. There's like a behind third camera where you can send it. I just, it might just be Vilgax attacks. I had protector of Earth on PSP, and I was a lot younger. And then I had, oh, what did you say? Yeah, it must have been Vilgax attacks that I had on PS2. What do you remember about its story? Uh, I remember you wound up in a jungle somewhere. Interesting animation style. Oh, yeah, this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Vilgax. I didn't get very far on that, but I remember having some fun with that. I think I had a lot more fun with protector of Earth because I was a little kid. PSP, you know, you get to take on little road trips and stuff. And I'm just playing it. I don't remember exactly what it was like. So now you say like, oh, you know, it's very in its time. It's like, yeah, it makes sense. But yeah, like it's good. They do some good stuff, but it's like with all video games, even modern ones, if you have a character which is ability is to switch to other characters, it means that each character is going to, combat is going to feel a little shallow and repetitive because they've got to do combat but then different things. So they try to make that all unique is one annoying and also it's going to be difficult for the player to memorize every single one. So that's why. Yeah, that's why they only start you with one or two and don't even have like a massive roster in the end because I remember playing Vilgax attacks, I think, and cosmic destruction. And it's like when you've got all 10 aliens, you don't really get a chance to really use them all because you often find one you like and just stick with that and you kind of lose something. I don't know why, but I have a distinct memory of us spamming Cannonball for some reason. He probably had a pretty powerful because all the games generally involve puzzles like humongous or could move massive, right? Yes, of course. Cannonball would like, yeah, ramps, wild vine swinging, spider monkey climb, blue chill gliding, blue chill, big a buzzer. It's been a long time. I'm so sorry if you're listening to this and you're like, oh, it's just stuffing all the names. Do you not worry? I remember a null void level as jet ray platforming you had to get from like, oh, I'm making that. It was so hard. Keep dying. That's the thing with like all of your video games is that basically platformers sometimes they'll make a level and they'll be like, oh, it's beatable and they'll finish it, but they don't, they don't realize that it's like, if you mess up, the reset point is just so far back that you can get stuck in a counterpoint. We were children and bad. And that's where our level of training software games was born. Really? I will say I played a, this isn't really, I played Jack too recently. Hang on, how do you talk about something not related to Ben? I'm so sorry. Let him speak. Jack too. Jack too. Um, there's a level I actually, actually, I'm still stuck on as an adult because it is so hard. There's so little margin forever and it's such a penny to ask. And a lot of it is down to RNG. It's the bomb step. So you suck at the end of this wolf and you need to go through. Enemies are jumping in, but the combat in that game is that these enemies, if they're five feet away from you, will zap you and take two points of health. But if you attack in one enemy, the other, you're in the animation to attack something else and the other one will come in and hit you. So it's like, did so hard. Did they add, was it Jack too, was actually that they added in spinning attacks, like spinning shooting. Because that was very useful against those group of enemies where you're surrounded and you just jump up, you spin and click shoot and all the way around. I don't know. I know it was in the games. I can't remember if it was introduced in three though. Yeah. I still, as a fully grown 25 year old adult human male now, I still struggle so much with every Crash Bandicoot game. Oh god. I mean, they're made to be difficult. They're not kid games. Hello. Hello. But no, yeah, they are. The Crash Bandicoot games are still difficult. They are made to be difficult. Well, because when they release the remaster and the original trilogy, no, no, no, they made it harder. Did they? Yeah, they made it harder. I thought they made one of the things like one, like the hardest level in the game didn't they make it. It's the slippy level, you know, the game that's the level that's not actually in the game. It's like an optional bubble. Yeah, I know what you're doing. They made it easier to be in the remaster because it was like too slippy and frustrating and original. Honestly, just can't. Yeah, it's too much. It is still even when it's hard. It was like high road was the one that was really difficult in the remake. The reason for that is because the jumping mechanics, they ported the third one over and it was about the acceleration of you need to run a little bit to get your match jump speed, whereas like in the original, you didn't. So you can't really take your time with the jumps. You've got to do it all contentiously while keeping your momentum up, which is really hard to do. That's very hard. Yeah, but there's that level where you can run across the ropes on the side, which is what I used to made it. Yeah, I hated the approach one. Yeah, but from what I can remember, I don't think those B&T games were hard for me, I think. They weren't hard enough. I never progressed too far in Vilgek for text because I think at that point, I didn't really know how to use YouTube properly, like game rules and stuff. And I got stuck on this one level when you're in the jungle inside like a tomb or something. And I'm like, I don't know where I'm going. I don't know what I'm doing. And you try to look on YouTube and you can't find anything. I think I know the exact spot you're talking about. You probably do. You probably do. I'm not playing it again. Spots like that, as I've had spots like that that don't even suck as a kid. And then like many years later, I've decided to play it as a teenager. And whenever I get set up to those spots, what it turns out happens is that there'll be a text box or dialogue from a character to tell you what to do. But my kid self just naturally didn't listen. Oh, Chris. Oh, this text? Oh, X, X, X, X, X. I just think, let me remember Harry Potter game that I got stuck at. And I remember I was replaying it with some people that early on, I got up to that bit and someone legit goes you'd Wingardium Leviosa on that rock. And you're just like, cool, that text I don't hear. Wingardium Leviosa. I think going forward, we're just going to stick with the Netflix order of episodes just because that matches DVDs. And if any of our three listeners are watching along at home, I don't know why you wouldn't be. Have you uploaded any of these? No, I need to edit them. You are. Yeah, no, we edited each and release each episode after Joe. I don't think you realize that, technically speaking, what we've done is we've taken a six and a half hour break to sleep. And that's all we've done. No, I get that. He's going to edit out all the American hate. No, that's the only thing that stayed. Leave it in that. Good. Leave it in. So yeah, it was a great episode. I really enjoyed it. Yeah, really enjoyed it. Do you guys remember the Bintin's similar slammer game on Cartoon Network? I do. I think so. I absolutely remember this. I'm just going to. I remember a lot of man, those old Nickelodeon or Disney Channel or Cartoon Network websites in the games they had. Slaps. Slaps. Slaps so hard. There was this one last year being the game that I loved. It was 2D and you could pick the Earthbender whatever element you wanted to and you'd do a 2D fighting game and it was every day after school. Have you ever seen them actually released in the game now? They did. Like last year? It doesn't look good. No, no. But they have released a few over the... Do you know what's wild? One of the games I released was produced by the people who made being meta. Which I was just like, they made much in Nintendo where they were like bobbleheads. Do you know what's even funnier? The best Avatar game out there is made by a solo person on the PlayStation Dreams. Did you have it? Did you? I heard about it. I've heard about it. It's a game that you buy that allows you to make games on their engine and one dude spent a year and a half just building an engine for an avatar and it was incredible. Oh my god. I don't know if the mic friends picking up any of that but uh... There he is. The audio compression on that is absolutely revolting. I'm only getting into one of your viewers to explain this. Uh, Nat has booted up the game. I do remember this. I do remember this. I remember this. Yeah. Cannonball. Please. Oh. Here we go. So I don't know. I don't think any of that will have been recorded. Hopefully not. No. But we just got Arias Blasted by Ben Tim music. 8-bit Ben Tim music. The audio compression is just... So Nat just died immediately. Oh, the collision in this game is broken. Okay. Don't blame the game. Just because it was full screen. Yeah. Don't blame the game. Okay. You can do this for like... I'm on my last life. You can do this for like 10 minutes. Yeah. Transform. Transform. I can't. I need to... I need to... He needs the upgrade. I need to... I have a click to either of them yet. Honestly, like doesn't look bad. Like the... Like it's the... It's in the same art style. Like it's a sprite game. So it's not... It's not amazing. Just had to... Oh. Losing some health in it. Get good scrumpt. He's not... He's not good. Wait. Do I have to kill them all before I can move on? No, I don't. Just keep running. It's not all nice. But yeah. I was going to mention something about the um... like the whole Binting games where I actually just... They slapped. That already was amazing. Yeah. They were all like super fun. I don't know if it was just because I was a kid that I didn't do it. What was the other two about the... What was it? The combustion... What do you say? Like combustion or something? Combustion. What were the other alien force games? Oh, cosmic destruction is the ultimate alien one which I only even played on PSP. Has anyone played cosmic destruction on PlayStation 3? No. I want it. I want it so that... So what was it about? There's a one of way big species is like making their way towards earth and then needs to go around and collect pieces of technology that we can bind. We'll make the ultimatrix even more powerful so he can take down this other way big. Okay. Um... Nat, this is cool. But I will say we should probably get on to the next... We should. We should. Because we are not just on the front right now. Let me find four arms. He just wants to get big arms. That's like he just wants to live out the Ben team. He wants to get big breasts. He wants to get big arms. I'm so big for you. You need to go to the gym, brother. That's where I should be right now, isn't it? Two weeks should all be right now. You're going to the gym tomorrow. I'm going to your boss. I'm going to the normal gym tomorrow. I know. I might. Okay, I died. See if I can get a PT tomorrow to be honest. Oh no. My diet has been trashed for the past two weeks and my diet right now is... I need some help. This weekend has been terrible. This weekend's been atrocious. And with that, we'll see you next time. See you next time. You've been listening to the Ben Tim podcast that nobody asked for. One of the podcasts of all time.
