(upbeat music) - Welcome to July 28th on the National Day Calendar. Today, we're splashing into some fun and honoring the unsung heroes of our lives. - Let's dive into National Water Park Day. Water parks are a summertime favorite, offering thrills and relaxation for everyone. The world's first modern water park, Wet N Wild, was created by George Malay in Orlando, Florida in 1977. Malay, also known for creating Sea World, envisioned a place where families could enjoy water-based rides and attractions safely. This idea revolutionized recreation, and today there are over 1,000 water parks worldwide. So whether you're zipping down a waterslide or floating down the lazy river, you are part of a global phenomenon that literally started with the splash. (upbeat music) (upbeat music) So pass me my drink so that I can go floating down the lazy river, please. - Okay, I'll do that, and while you're floating, I'll be dashing down the waterslide. - I'll be waiting for the scream. I can hear it already. (laughing) Now from thrilling rides to heartfelt appreciation, it's National Parents Day. This day is dedicated to recognizing the sacrifices and hard work that parents put into raising their children. - I need to be patient. - Did you know that this celebration has a relatively recent origin? National Parents Day was established in 1994 when President Bill Clinton signed a resolution into law. The aim was to honor and support the role of parents in the upbringing of their children, complimenting the more traditional mothers and fathers days. It's a reminder to take a moment to appreciate the endless love and effort parents pour into their families. So make sure to give your parents an extra hug or a call today. They truly deserve it. - Are you being celebrated today? - That's a good question. I should call and remind the kids that it's parents day. (laughing) How about you? - I'm making Leah celebrate me. - That's a great idea. Leah, you know, you're getting an advanced warning here that it's parents day, so get on it. - I'm Latoya Johnson. - I'm Arlo Anderson. - Thank you for joining us on our journey to celebrate every day. - Until next time, keep celebrating.
