(upbeat music) - Well, despite these really hot weather all week long, we've made it to Friday. Good to have you with us here on the radio. I'm Eric Carpenter, and this is KCVL, KCRK. Just to make sure that you are aware, no open burning is allowed whatsoever. Stephen's County, DNR, they have enacted a statewide burn ban on all DNR protected land. All burning is prohibited on the Lake Roosevelt area. It has been hot, it has been dry, and we don't need any manmade fires started up. So the county, DNR, and Lake Roosevelt area, no open flames whatsoever. It doesn't matter if it's a campfire ring, a Tiki torch, any kind of an open flame, it is prohibited. So let's be really safe. Let's not have any fires started, but also keep in mind this is a burn ban that has been ordered for the entire area. There's more that you might need to know about the Messiah's Mansion, the living museum of the historic sanctuary. It's on tour for everyone to see and it's here in Colville. - I'm Dr. Aaron Sartin. I'm part of the Kettlefall 7th Adventist Church and I'm part of the group that's invited a special ministry event to come to the Colville area in July. It is absolutely free. The event is called Messiah's Mansion. This is a Christian-based ministry that's coming out of Oklahoma. And what they have done is they have built a life-size replica of the tabernacle described in the Bible. That's the one that direction to Moses to build to really illustrate the plan of salvation to the Hebrew people and to our time as well. And so they take invitations to go around the country to set this event up and offer free tours to the public to learn about all of the intricacies of the method of worship that God instructed the Hebrews to do and also how it applies to our lives. They'll be traveling directly from BC Canada before coming to our area to give the tours, but they accept dates all throughout the country and have been to international occasions as well. This is a great opportunity to learn of ancient history. This was really the economy of the Hebrew or Israelite people for thousands of years and God instructed them to do this for a particular reason. So learning about what it was like 3,000 or so years ago in the desert between Egypt and the land of Israel and this instruction that God gave to Moses to build this sanctuary really as a way for him to dwell among his people and to show them his perfect way for them. Just at the outset, you're learning about ancient history in that engaging way. And then also you're learning a little bit more about what each symbol represented. I can talk more about what the tour will look like when you show up to begin this. The tour is roughly about an hour and 15 minutes long. There's five stations, each one will be about 15 minutes in length and your tour guide. We'll lead you through and explain each section. So the first station you'll learn about just a structural overview of the Hebrew Tabernacle and its intricate and purposeful design. And then in station two, you'll enter into the courtyard and your guide will explain just the humbling symbolism of the altar of sacrifice and the labor, what was the procedure that was done and what each thing represented. Station three will lead you into the sanctuary or tabernacle proper. The first apartment is called the Holy Place. And there you'll learn the significance of the three articles of furniture there, which are the table of showbread, the altar of incense in the candle out or the golden candlestick. And then the fourth station, you'll go into the inner chamber of the tabernacle called the Most Holy Place. And there's only one article of furniture in there called the Ark of the Covenant. And many of us may have some familiarity with what that is. So you'll learn that this was the central aspect of the tab and how could you learn for details about that. And finally, the fifth station, you'll focus more about the high priest garments and how symbolic each of those was and how it affected the history of the Hebrews. So it's kind of an overview of what the tour will look like. Although this is a history lesson, there's also opportunity to learn how each of the symbols in the tabernacle ultimately represented the Lamb of God in Messiah Jesus Christ. And so you can see how this illustration of the gospel message is applicable to our lives even today. The dates of this exhibit will be from July 13th through July 21st. And it's going to be at 154 State Route 20, which is right next to the Colville High School on the road to Tiger. It's on Colville School District to property. They're giving us permission to use it, but it's not a sanctioned Colville School District event. Just want to make that disclaimer. - It's been built next to the Colville High School. You'll find it at 154 State Route 20. And it will be running daily one in the afternoon until 630 in the evening. Again, just to head out Tiger Highway, just past the high school. - When your vehicle is involved in an accident, you want collision repair performed by highly trained experts. Yesterday, we heard from Dr. David Nielsen who explained why he wants to move a crisis stabilization unit into the adjacent building. It currently houses the Stevens County Public Works Office. New Alliance has a facility behind their current office. And if they can move into the new building with 14 beds, they would turn their current 13 bed facility into a clean and sober housing unit. Well, there were a lot for, there were a lot against in the comments on Tuesday. Today, we hear from the Stevens County Sheriff and Northeast Tri-County Health District Administrator. - I would like to hear from the Sheriff because his viewpoint from realizing it's not a city of Colville, Bon Forsen, but I know the city and the county work together a lot. And I would just like to hear some commentary on this topic and I think a lot of people's minds security is probably at the top and who better than. - Yeah, I'm going to share a minute. You can do stuff up to here. Call me on on this just on page five of this report. They list a number of individuals that have quite support for this program and you want it. - Okay, from a public safety standpoint, I'll echo what Dr. Nielsen already said. This facility has been in existence for 20 some odd years. We use it as law enforcement. It's a place where people in mental crisis in lieu of going to jail can go too safely as we don't have room in the jail. And the jail is not a mental health facility, even though it's widely used for that all over the state. I'll reiterate, they're moving it from the backyard to the side yard and adding one bed that will have no effect on public safety. From my standpoint, what will have effect on public safety is if we lose the current crisis stabilization facility due to licensing requirements and we can't replace it. Then we're going to be hurting. So we're not creating, we're moving, that's all. One extra bed is going to provide law enforcement the opportunity to keep one person out of jail or off the street continuing to have a crisis and cause problems. I don't have a crystal ball for the secondary use of the plan goes through with the existing facility. I don't have a crystal ball, what that's going to do. I am of the mindset to believe that it still will not have any impact on public safety. - Thank you. - Hello, my name is Matt Shuns. I'm the administrator for Northeast Ticany Health District address 486 South Oak Street in Colville. To reiterate much of what has been spoken by Dr. Nielsen, Sheriff and Sean for the jail facility, we see those impacts of homelessness of people that have drug addictions. And the last thing that I believe our community needs is to have less resources. And so by the idea of the site expansion of an existing facility to provide better services and meet licensing requirements, we would speak in favor of this proposal. I'd also speak as a resident of Colville for a long time. I've lived here 23 years, raised both my kids here, care about it deeply. And I think that's one of the things that every person in this room can speak to with commonalities, we care about it. But I think it's really important to say, these are not outside problems. We're not immune from all of those things that are happening elsewhere, from opiate addictions to crime to homelessness. Those are things that we have here and they're not important, but we have here. And the last thing that we want to have is less resources to be able to make improvements. So by having a crisis stabilization house, you can make improvements because you can connect people to resources and services that they need on a road to recovery and getting better, rather than going through this cycling process of incarceration, release and facing a crisis again. Thank you. - Next week, we're gonna hear some of the comments that were of concern to the community about the project, along with a few more statements of clarification from Dr. Nielsen. - Attention all beef lovers in our community. This could be a big, big development. The Columbia River Treaty first negotiated back in 1964, set up a flood control and power sharing agreement between the US and Canada. The terms laid out in the original treaty provided mutual benefits for both countries and it in the past had given an unfair advantage to Canada forcing the consumers here in the Pacific Northwest to pay Canada for downstream power benefits. So we will see this agreement. It has been contentious at times, but it does appear there is an agreement in principle between Canada and the US on the Canadian Treaty on the Columbia River. Also a gallery reminder, be really careful with fire. The National Forest Service reports 100 human caused wildfires on the national forests in Oregon and Washington. Firefighters been pretty successful in putting out the preventable fires, but here's the real kicker. The fire managers are anticipating dangerous, dry, lightning storms late Saturday and could last through Monday morning. This primarily down in the Klamath Falls Band, Lagrand, Oregon area. We aren't expecting lightning up here in our area, but dry lightning is the last thing they need even though it is expected down in Oregon. So be aware as the conditions continue to dry out and I have no doubt that come Monday, we'll be talking more about the dry weather, fire restrictions and what other restrictions there may be. Those little emergency shut off valves under your sink. While the first game of that four game series with the A's down in Anaheim, it was a slug fest indeed for the mariners. The first game in this four game series saw the mariners take an 11, nothing win. A huge victory right before the all-star break down in Anaheim for the mariners last night. Game number two of the four game series coming up tonight. Brian Wu going to be on the mound for the mariners. This is exactly what the mariners needed. They swept San Diego in that two game series. They head up the road to Anaheim. They take the first in the four game series. Oh, if the mariners could get a sweep. What a great all-star game break that would be. You'd be listening 92.1 KCRK. It's mariner baseball game number two against the A's.
