We've made it to Thursday. That means over weekend is right around the corner. We're getting there. Gonna be kind of unsettled and cooler today. Good to have you with us here on the radio. I'm Eric Carpenter and this is KCVL, KCRK. The Caldwell Chamber of Commerce is now accepting vendor applications for the annual sidewalk sale and street fare. July 18th through the 20th in downtown Caldwell. This is a great opportunity to be part of this great downtown shopping event. Give the Chamber a call at 684-5973 to reserve your space today. The Northeast Washington Fair. It's going to be 122 years running this year. We talked with Lori Matlock about the early release of the fairbook and there is a change in registration dates for youth animals. You want to heads up on this? Hi, this is Lori Matlock, your fare manager. I'd like to remind all exhibitors with animals that are coming to the fair this year that you need to have your registrations filled out and in by July 1. They moved it up so the supers would have time to see how many stalls they need and then they can accommodate and know how many stalls to build so that we can accommodate the kids that are coming. We've just run into a lot of snags because before they had a matter of days, they got their report when they came to do their setup day. That's incredibly hard on my superintendents. This should alleviate that. You can go online to Stevens County and the fair is right there on the front page. It gives you links to the book. It gives you links to online and then you need to have your leader, whether it's 4-H or Grange or FFA. They need to go in and approve that so that I can process them. If you do it by paper, you'll find the book at North 40, the country store and here in the lobby at the fairgrounds. But make sure you get your animals registered by July 1, which is coming up quick. So pass the word, get your registrations in. If you're doing still life, you still have until August 12 and your posters are due at that time as well at WSU. So be thinking of what you want to create for the fair and we're going to put on another awesome fair. It's 122 years of the fair and we're pretty blessed to bring it to you. Thanks. You can get the fair book now in person down at the Northeast Washington Fairgrounds. You can go to the Stevens County website. The fair book is online there. North 40, country store, they have the paper copies of the fairbooks. And remember, if you have youth with animals, you do need to be registered by July the 1st. One hundred years of flight, well, that history is now a bragging right for the Colville Airport. Dave Garringer wants to celebrate with the whole community this Saturday. Here's more about the 100-year anniversary for the Colville Airport. Hi, I'm Dave Garringer. I'm the president of the local chapter of the Washington Pilots Association, the Colville Valley chapter. We are sponsoring a 100-year anniversary event for our Colville Airport, and we would like everybody to come up and visit their airport and see if we've turned out in 100 years. It's going to be from 7 a.m. in the morning till approximately 5 in the afternoon. A day-long event from 7 to 11 a.m. will be having our usual pancake breakfast, $15 for adults, $10 for kids under 12. After we stop serving breakfast, the vendors will take over. The food can be able to supply some drinks and food for the crowd. No alcohol. All good bands will have food vendors and information booths and displays as well. There's going to be one that will have a souvenir, yarks and crafts vendor. Yeah, mostly will be food vendors and some airport information, navigation, information booths for the crowd. We're going to have aircraft in possibly cars, classic cars on display. We will be having a 9 a.m. flight dedication for the new American flagpole and flag we've put in this year. We will be having some air maneuvers by a flight team. It's a two-man team and one of them is based here on the airport. We've got a hanger in his airplane. Undaunted air shows us what they call themselves. Mid-morning, skydiving as well. And we'll have three live bands playing from about 11 through the afternoon. The first one that plays 11 to 1 will be Sarah Brown and her husband Rusty. The next band from one to three is the Mansfield's and from three to five is the on-call Cowboys. I hope you can come up and visit your airport Saturday morning or Saturday all day. Lots of food, fun things, watch, celebrate, look at the airplanes. If you want to stop by for the pancake breakfast, you want to get there early. Things start at seven in the morning, Saturday at the Colville airport. Art and Tree Farms. Now that trip to Dublin wouldn't be complete without a full tour of the Guinness Beer Brewery. That is the largest tourist attraction in Dublin. No, not the museums, not the art galleries, not the universities. The Guinness Plant, the largest draw for tourists in Dublin. Well Dublin appeared to be a very clean, fast-moving city, narrow streets, lots of traffic. But I'll tell you what, looking at the variety of buildings going to buildings that are still in use from the 1500s and 1400s. And they look, they are kept up just like they were new. And that's what a lot of Dublin was. A very friendly city. Just a few years ago it was about 270,000 people. Now the Metro Dublin area is topping a million. You look over the landscape and there are cranes all over. There is a lot of construction going on in Dublin. Talking to people here. Since England dropped out of the European Union, Ireland is the only English-speaking country as part of the European Union. So a tremendous number of US companies are building large buildings, headquarter type buildings in Dublin. And it is a bustling city. If you have the opportunity to visit Ireland, certainly put a big gold star in visiting the Dublin area. It's a clean city, low crime. They do have a little bit of homeless going on, like so many places, but well worth your time to take a look at Dublin, Ireland, and while you're in Dublin, toast a pint at the Guinness Brewery. Six stories high. And the very top, the six story is where you are going to find a glass pub where you can have a pint and walk all the way around. You'll have a 360 degree view of the skyline of Dublin. We're about to wrap things up. It's a sail day headed back toward Dover, England. And then the coach ride back to the airport and back to Los Angeles. And hopefully we'll make the connecting flight back up to Spokane. But I'll tell you what, Belfast, kind of a tougher city than Dublin, where they still lock the gates between the Protestants and the Catholics overnight and have 24 miles of wall separating the Catholics in the Protestants. Dublin nodded all like Northern Ireland, which is actually its separate country. The scenery, beautiful, the buildings, we're talking, you know, where the United States, we don't have anything old like they do here in Ireland. And they still use and don't modify to a great extent the old buildings. It's worth coming to look at. It's been a good trip. Tomorrow we might finish things off. We'll see how the sailing toward Dover goes. Well, let you know, Eric Carpenter kind of on the road, most recently in Dublin, Ireland. At least the Mariners picked up one win out of the three game series against the Tampa Bay Rays, a 5-2 win yesterday for the Mariners. It was late in the game. They got three runs in the sixth inning, two more in the seventh inning, but the Mariners do get one win out of that three game set with the Rays. It's a travel day today. The Mariners open at home on Friday against Minnesota. Jonas, coming up Friday evening. The M's in Minnesota on 92.1 KCRK. Not quite so warm, back to those showers and thunderstorms on Sunday, 76 the high, 75 on Monday, 78 sunshine Tuesday, back to the 80 degree mark by Wednesday with lots of sunshine. Now the weekend's almost here. We're to Thursday. Eric Carpenter with you. Thanks for joining us here on KCVL, KCRK.
