Listen back to Paul Cooney, Barry Ferguson and Mark Guidi as they talk all things Scottish Football.

This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Call 08, 08 at 17, 17, 700. Good evening. How are you? This is Paul Cooney, back for the new season and the company of Barry Faggerson and Mark Goudy. You know where we are, 08, 08, 17, 17, 700. He's bronzed, he's fit, but enough about Mark Goudy. Guys, great to see you, Barry. Can you believe five weeks since we went out to the Euros? Yeah, it's been a long time, but listen, the break was good. Paul, come back, refreshed, looking ahead to the big season ahead. So, yep, looking forward to it. Great to be back, great to see some familiar faces. And hopefully we can have a right good laugh as we did. And serious stuff last season. We can have another good year this year. You know, question number one for Barry, they've been on already, Lorraine's been on, Taylor's been on. What were you and Philip Clemong saying at Birmingham just a few days ago? Mark, can you believe it? That was only two weeks ago, the final win, Spain had that win. What were the Euros overall? What did you feel? Hey, not great. Paul, to be honest, I thought Spain were one of the winners over the piece. I'm not surprised it got the circuit resigned. I thought his treatment from certain sections of the media for my players and the England supporters was shameful. And I thought he'd been a really good England manager and I think he'll land himself a good job. But Spain were one of the winners, but still sore. Paul still feels sore from Scotland. It should have been better. It was the effort that may be better. And they didn't manage to achieve it, unfortunately. League Cup is well underway. Already premier sports market seems to get earlier and earlier. We've got the kick off to the league season this weekend. Saturday and Sunday, Rangers in action on Saturday, Celtic on Sunday. Celtic a good pre-season so far, beating Man City and also Chelsea the other night in some style. Yeah, the American Tour Paul's been a real success on the park. Said there when Joe had retired the most important signing for Celtic this summer was going to be a goalkeeper, I think. Casper, Michael is an exceptional signing, absolutely exceptional. That said, still a lot of what to be done for Celtic Paul. They still need to get quality in the door and Brendan Rogers will be demanding that and rightly so from the hierarchy. Yeah, they played well, Barry. What can we take from pre-season? I mean, looking at Celtic, three wins in America, looks good, good start. Is that an indicator of how the season will go for them? Well, generally, Paul, I had 22 pre-season and probably about 15 of them. The performances and the results during that pre-season weren't great. It was all about getting minutes in the legs and getting as fit as possible for the first domestic game. Naturally, when I was playing it, it was the first Champions League qualifying game. So I don't look too much into the results, but I've been at a couple short issue, I say Rangers games, the Man United game at Murray Field in the game down at St Andrews, against Birmingham. And it wasn't great, I've been honest. It's still early stages. I still think there's a lot of what to be done in terms of incoming Zand outgoons, but as pre-seasons went for Rangers, it's not been ideal. But listing the proof will have been the pudding in four or so weeks when obviously the transfer window closes, the manager hopefully gets the players he wants in and also out. But listing my look ahead to the game against Tarts and Saturday at Time Castle, it's going to be a tough one, but you should be looking forward to getting like going to Time Castle, brilliant place to go and play. But as in watching Rangers over pre-seasing, I've not been overly impressed. What do you think, Rangers fans, O8, O8, 17, 1700 Celtic fans? How are you feeling? Both clubs looking for signings. Mark, I think everyone's surprised that Rangers are not going to be playing at iBrucks for sometime, maybe until October, because of the work that should have started early. We know the story about the steel, but it's dominated the headlines for weeks and weeks. Yeah, it has and they're still a lack of clarity. Over at Paul, I think John Bennett, the Rangers chairman is on record the same. He will give the Rangers supporters, and this is what we're talking about, the paying supporter who doesn't know what's happening, not get a clear picture. He'll give them a clear picture by the end of this month where there's two days to go. So the Rangers chairman has got to stick these words. John Bennett must stick these words and give the Rangers supporters, the season ticket holders, the hospitality, the everybody that puts money into the club a clear picture of where they stand. Now, even if it's not what the Rangers supporters want to hear, they might not like what he's got to say, but he must be honest and he must be clear about what the future holds between now and, as you say, Paul, October, November. Barry, we knew there was an issue just before we finished up five weeks ago, but are you surprised that they're going to hand in for the games and they've got so many games coming up? First and foremost, it's far from ideal with the situation, that they're not going to be at home in August playing Champions League qualifiers or League Games or League Cup games. But it's out with the manager and the players' control and listening to you four or five weeks ago. So as a player, I would get my head round the fact is I'm not going to be playing it. I looks for six, seven or eight weeks, whatever it's going to be. Yeah, they've made the move to hand and I thought they would have maybe of trying to reverse the fixtures, going to play mother with Far Park, they've got Ross County up at Dingwall, but listening to the meta decision, it got you hammed in and we'll see how that pans out. I've always said it's a bit hammed and listened. I've played there as many other times and there's two games that are springing to mind that the atmosphere was absolute red hot, but generally it doesn't create the best the atmosphere. It's nothing like, nothing like eyebrows. So I did think that they may have tried to reverse the fixtures, but listening to the meta decision, it got you hammed in and listening to the Rangers fans, we'll still go and support them. There's no doubt about that. I think it's put for League Club one and the players in the back football, particularly for the Champions League qualifiers, Dynamo Cave at home, inverted commas on either the 13th or 14th of August, need to go to what we care about. It'll be Poland, obviously, for the first league. It's taken it for granted that that Cave will beat part of his ample grade. They've got a four-goal lead. If I first like, I'm sure they will, but you're talking about 40 million quid. And I know, okay, it's whatever it is that happened. We don't have the clear picture, we don't have the full SP and what's happened, the why eyebrows are closed. That's why there's those unknowns that John Bennett has to address and be honest, but I really do feel for the League Club one, for the staff and for the split. I mean, for the Rangers support, as Barry says, okay, it's a home game. It's not really. It's not the same. It's been at eyebrows. It's not the same. It's been at eyebrows. So the League Club one could find himself under serious pressure before the end of August, purely because that he's not playing home games at eyebrows, and he could put the Champions. He hadn't to Michael Beale, and he didn't last long. I've lost a PSV this time last year. So I do have a lot of sympathy for the League Club one, and as well, his budget, Paul, don't like his budget's going to be. But for me, with the greatest of respect, the quality of player that's coming in, they're not title-winning players over 38 games to beat Celtic. To be fair, the manager, it looks to me if he's not going to use it as an excuse to be honest. I've seen a few interviews, and listen, it is a player that you kind of knew the last week of June. I think it was what the scenario was going to be when they're going to be playing at eyebrows. So is that as a footballer, yep, I want to play at eyebrows all day long, but then I would get it. My thought process would be, listen, this is a way it's happening, and they're either going to be playing. At that stage, it was talking about midfield, hammed in, maybe reversing the fixtures. The decision's been made, you're going to hammed in. It's a bit of grass where you've got to go out and shut yourself off and make sure you get the wins that are needed. Certainly, at the start of the season, because August is absolute huge for Rangers. It's a massive month, and they're still the money there for the Champions League. And if Rangers could get into the Champions League, Barry, that would be massive, 30 million. Yeah, it would, obviously, certainly help. There's no doubt about that. But listen, they've got hard games. It looks to me if it's going to be dynamo Kiev. Obviously, Matt says they've got a photo of Google lead against partisan. But the Champions League qualifying games, Paul, I played them plenty enough. That difficult opponent should come up against, where a lot of good quality in the teams. Rangers fans, what are you thinking? Barry Ferguson is here with me, Paul Cooney and Mark Guidi and Celtic fans. Cashbrush, Michael, though, I mean, Joe Hart finished with, what a flourish. Well, you played alongside him. Cashbrush, Michael, has started brilliantly for Celtic. Yeah, I mean, Matt, I think Matt said that it started to show. I think it was the position that said it had to get spot on. And watching Cashbrush, Michael, over the number of years that he's played down in the Premier League and obviously moved to France, I think it was and then he was playing underlet last year. He's a talk quality goalkeeper. He's a presence. That's what he is. Not just a good shortstoper. He clearly is very vocal, very similar. What I say is that when Celtic send Joe Hart, so I think they've got a real good replacement in Casper's Michael. Mark, former goalkeeper, so. 37, Paul. Yeah, I think this will revitalise his career. I mean, he'd be higher for him, a Leicester, or one in the FA Cup then, with Brendan Rodgers. But here at 37 years old, and I'm not saying his career has been that downward side. I don't mean that, you know, terms angelic, and this would be disrespectful, not matter. But here's a chance to come in one type, to come and play an old from dad base, to come and play ganty champions league football. At 37, Brendan Rodgers obviously knows him inside out as a person, and as a player, I say the all-round package for Celtic to get him for nothing, Paul. It's fabulous, but it's like it was with Jack Butler for Rangers this time last year, getting him for nothing on a free. So, yeah, Celtic have really threw Brendan Rodgers his connection to the player. They've really done well. Is Mariska eating his words pre-game? I think he's a bit dismissive. People are a bit Scotland, but you always say that. But Man City, they weren't so much, but Chelsea. I know it's pre-season, I know they're a couple of weeks behind, but it's always good to see the Scottish teams do well against some of the top clubs in England. Yeah, yeah, listen, it's always good that I've been pretty vocal and I think people believe in their game down in England. They look down on us, which I don't like. I think we've got a lot of good players, real good managers up here, and listen, I know you mentioned that there are 10, 14 days behind, but you still look at the Chelsea team they had out. It was a lot of quality and worth a lot of money as well. It was strong, wasn't it? Mark Quirrell's Celtic fans will be looking for, well, what? There's no point in both of us seeing it. The striker, Adamida, they still want them, but the price seems to have gone up and up. Good news for Celtic is that Kayogo is back with a real hunger to do well this season, but the manager knows he needs at least two more strikers, probably one in development and one ready to play. Yeah, I think two strikers on the radar, all are left back. We've been looking for them for a long time. They're going to challenge Greg Taylor. Also, he saw it at Greg Taylor's contract, going to get him. He's saying that should be a priority. I don't imagine it should be such a difficult one to do. The player wants to be there, going to get that done and get it over the line. Parallel Bernardo appears to be 95%. Done, they'll be looking for a centre half, a left-sided centre half, so it's a bit of work to be done. As I managed to go on the window, I think it's the Friday night at the end of August that closes Paul. 32 days. Yeah, so a lot of work to be done, but plenty money there to spend. Isn't it plenty money there to spend to go and get quality? What you can see is a couple of the projects signs that come in, unless you know that Brendan Roiser bit of time, what you can see then proven them. So going back the manager, going back, I know it's not easy to get every deal you want over the line, but you've got to upgrade what you've got in the key areas that the manager has identified, go and get the business done and go and get it over the line. The rumours that Hatatte Lester want him wouldn't surprise you would it, Barry, he's come back, he's looking really, really good apparently pre-season, but you can see him fitting in if he wants to go to Leicester. Yeah, I think he's got the capability, no problem to play in the Premier League. I'm sure I mean it was a bit of a stop-start season for him, but there's some unease failure fact, there's no doubt in my mind he's a quality operator. Yeah, I'm not surprised as interested in Hatatte Paul, but I think the way it works, if you go back to the season where Celtic's old Keon Tierney to Arsenal, Brendan Roiser's also wanted to sign Calmigrade at Leicester and Calmigrade was told we can't sell the two-year in the one window in the summer and that was fine Calmigrade except that if Celtic, I think matter really is the one that you probably expect to go, but you can't also sell Hatatte in this window. If you sell matter really and real Hatatte in this window, the Celtic fans will be apoplectic and you will run the risk of losing the manager. You can't afford to do it. You can accept one going if it's matter really or Hatatte, if they, you know, whatever, but you sell the two of them, that's not acceptable in my opinion. Money talks, what have they come in with huge offers? What's huge? They're rejecting what? $14.50 million I think at Atlanta in Southampton? Yeah. It's $20,000 for £20 million for really Hatatte. What has he got? Two years left in his contract, real Hatatte? Yeah, I think you'd be looking at between £10.50 and £1.50 for Hatatte. Marc, it's really fit, Hatatte. No, I accept that money talks, but Celtic don't need the money for, but I know that he, but I think what you do is you sit down with the players and you have conversation listening, you can't go, because what happens if Hatatte is sold in the last day of the window? Yeah. So I know it's what my players can dig in and play, you know, they can see how I can go down the road and I can earn £80,000 a week and I'm only getting, I see only, only getting £25,000 a year. But from, from a Celtic supporter point of view, all the fans that are out there and for the manager and for the rest of the squad, selling to your first choice, central midfielders for me is not acceptable. Tony Hagerty and the Herald this morning, he's got Matt O'Reilly at around £30 million. Do you think it really will go? I don't think so to get £30 from... No. I don't think they'll get £30 million. Maybe we add ones and share ones that might get to that. I think, given that there's a ones to go, I think they'll comfortably get £20, comfortably, but I don't think they'll get £30. Do you think they might hold onto them for one more season? I think there's conversations with the player there where, like, you know, that it's kind of exciting to look, we'll let you go. But I think there's also an understanding, well, no letting you go for £6 or £7 million less than what we value at. So I think the player would understand that, hey, Tati, maybe we're a bit different in terms of who represents them and having those kind of conversations, but I think I really is one board with all. Oh, 808, 17, 1700. There's the Go Radio football show here from the heart of Glasgow, Barry Ferguson, Polkany and Mark Guidi. There's so much on the go. Not many actual signings, Barry. What's the latest, for example, at Rangers? James Tavernier hasn't gone yet, if it is going, in Connor Goldson. Yeah, but we've seen that he was on an aeroplane at the end of the week. I still know what it's been officially done, so that's moment in time, Paul. He's still a Rangers player. Tavernier, I mean, this has been a chart for the last year or so. But, listen, he's played the last two preceding games. The one wins the night against Birmingham, and obviously, and started against Union Berlin. But, when I look at the Rangers signings, they're brought in six players. Count seven, if you said, the O'Mandy's a peppermint. It's three of them that I would probably say project players. Guys, who I don't see playing much, Liam Kelly, listen, good goalkeeper, but he's definitely coming in as a backup to Jack Butler. Does that mean that button's not going? Or, if it's a huge player, the manager made it clear. He's the one player that ain't going to entertain, sailing. And I like that message out that was loud and clear. But then you go on the other side, he's kind of baring. Yeah, he's done pretty well. He gets about the pitch. He's done okay. And Shane, who's just been brought in, obviously, at the weekend. But I'll go back to the games that I've watched all the games. And as I said, the performances haven't been ideal, but one player that stood out, where I spoke about last season, and I think this is a big season for O'Mandy. He is starting to show real quality, and I think he's one player that Rangers could possibly make a small fortune off. What do you like about him, Barry? What if this just is? He can get about the pitch, Paul, very athletic, very good on the ball, works hard. Listen, he's got a lot of a lot of very good attributes. I said that he came in in January last year and loaned my view, he signed him permanently. I've seen signs, but this preseason, he's the one that stood out for me. And that's the sort of model that Rangers are trying to get to bring players in, obviously. Move on for a small fortune, but in amongst that, Paul, you still have to have experience. Guys, it can help these players grow as footballers, so I expect the next batch of Rangers signings, that would depend on people going out the door. I think there'll be players who are 27, 28, 29 years of age. It's Cantwell going out the door as we see him there on Skye. Yeah, we've managed to make that clear that he's obviously put a transfer request in. Personally, I'm disappointed. I think there's something in Todd Cantwell. But listen, obviously, there's something all right there. He's asked to move on, unless you don't keep holding a player that wants to move on. Someday, it's a transfer request. I says, "Listen, I would like to move on." Well, you need to care who wants to be at the club, not the ones that don't want to. Mark, on Todd Cantwell. Yeah, I'm strangely the manager came back in at the end of the press conference at Birmingham. Yeah, down in Birmingham last month, it was. Remember, it's been on his mind, he's forgot, because you've got a lot of things to deal with. In the immediate aftermath of a game, even though it's just a pre-season friendly, or maybe he's been told by the peering in combs, or some day I got in the club, going to just release the story, get it out and the public, the main let's try and start an auction for Todd Cantwell. Whatever the scenario would be. I just find it strange that the players put in a transfer request. You don't hear that now in this. Yeah, you don't hear of a transfer request, particularly for the manager to make it public. No, but for Todd Cantwell, Paul, I just, for what Rangers need over the coming season, I just think it's a wee bit sour. I thought he's an off-air team player. And I don't think there's enough quality there to be perfectly honest. Now, maybe that's the best kind of quality that Rangers can get within their budget. I don't know, but they should be looking for better. If Rangers are serious about winning the title, Paul, over 38 games, they need to upgrade in Todd Cantwell. Where do you stand on Rangers, for example, the captain, the vice captain? Is it time for them to go? Because people think they've gone, but they're still there. Yeah, well, on corner goals, and I said a few months ago in the show, Paul, it's time for me to go. You know, for me, he's not going again in terms of being a, and a team that's going to win the title. For James Tavernier, I think it's a hard ride. I could understand if he might want to move on. And doge on Stellings, I mean, bad, he's mentioned Diamandie. I agree with him. I think doge on Stellings as well will be like, well, he could be an actual right back. Replacement for James Tavernier is in the building, wonderful pace. But if Tavernier, James Tavernier stays, I wouldn't have a problem. With that, I know he's got this tag, well, he's a serial loser, and there's only one title in nine years. But it's, but it's, who's running about him as well? That's all, no doubt, Diam. So, that's a bit interesting what happens, but I think it's got to the stage where I think he'll be away. I think that he won't be a Rangers player come the end of August. What about up front, taking a quick break. Lon Shankland, we're 25 minutes in, we haven't even mentioned him. That's next. Plus, who's coming in at Celtic? This is the Go Radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Let's go! Yep, we can half ago. It was all Rhodes leading to Trune, wasn't it, for the 152nd open? I think it was. The weather not so good, Mark, but it was a terrific course, wasn't it? Oh, very. Santa Shuffler did well. He did have a downer in the thirsty pool for that for the opening day, so I really enjoyed it. Yeah, it was good. Good day. The weather was, was no bad. Champagne tent. Well, you spotted me, and it was a great, it was a great tournament. It really was. And I said it to Bob McIntyre the week before, for one in the Scottish home, with that pop on the 18th, absolutely brilliant delighted for him. Somebody said to me, he went to the Genesis. I thought it was a concert. He said no, it was the open. It was great for Bob McIntyre. I mean, what a final round for him on the Sunday. Amazing. Yeah, but I think, I think, listening, he celebrated the bit too much. That was a tournament that he said he wanted to win. That was his dream, and he'd done it, as Mark just mentioned. They had the pot in the 18th, was brilliant. But listen, we've got some real good golfers coming through, and Scotland, great, isn't it? And maybe our all-time greatest ever sportsman, would that be right? Sarandi Murray, he won yesterday. I think he has, wasn't it? Oh, yes. Would you agree with it? Yeah, me personally. I agree with that. I think he has. And Barry, what would you say? What about that comeback yesterday for Andy Murray? It was phenomenal. They looked to be down and out. Just show us an amount, the amount he suffered over the years, in terms of injuries, injuries, back injuries. I mean, go back to the Wimbledon, where he got assessed. I think it was in his back, got operated on, and you could see he wasn't a fair bit of pain. But listen, he still wanted to go out there and try and play. In my opinion, he's the best ever sportsman. Scotland's produced. Mark, you've been covering sport for longer than we care to remember. Yeah. What, where does he sit? Yeah, I think he's Scotland's greatest ever sportsperson. I think back to him, I don't know exactly the year, but probably 17-18 years ago, when we watched him coming through, it could be complete five sets. His fitness, who you think the way he's actually properly dedicated himself to his profession, to have to be so successful two Wimbledon titles, two Olympic titles, U.S. Open, to do that in the company of Jockovic and Federer, and the Dow is exceptional, and I love the way he represents his country, right? On his whole family, his mum, Judy, his brother, Jamie, who's an exceptional tennis player, as well. So I think the whole lot, and I thought it was lovely, Subaka came out to the view when he's final one, Wimbledon, and the kind of line-up he had, the great Smack-a-Nose, and Boister, and so, yeah, for me, we've had some fantastic sports people over the year, but I think Andy Murray's also Andy Murray's the one. Mark makes a good point, if you think about him 16-17 years ago, he was at, well, let's say they're five, basically. No, but he's obviously, when I went, he's what really hard on his fitness and his physique, and he compete in one major's, you think of the players Federer, the Dow, and Jockovic, three best ever, and he won some of the tournaments, unbelievable. Three majors and two Olympic golds. Yeah, there you go, and I think it was 40 odd tournaments that he won overall, yeah, nor for me. Listen, it happens to everybody at some stage, you'd realize he can't compete at the highest level, but over the years, I think he's been an amazing sports person. There was no doubt about that. Evening's at five, it means it's the Gordial Football Show. Quite a few people have been on, but yeah, we're back, we've come back quite a lot of people. You're not on during the summer that when we took a short break, it's been five weeks since we went out of the Euros, and I think, well, it seems a long time ago, for Scotland, yeah, we were disappointed. Yeah, again, it's a little bit like 2021. Mark, would that be fair? We didn't quite attack it the way we should have or. Yeah, I felt personally, this one was Sora Paul in 2021. I think, I think, personally speaking, I was just really, really grateful and delighted that we were there, and given the circumstances of Covid and et cetera, et cetera, this time felt Sora, because I thought it was there for us, I just thought we didn't have enough of a go in the final game, you know, against the hungry. A few things went against us, you know, Ryan Portis' red card in Germany was a tough one to come back on. Game two, they got it together against Switzerland, but I just, I was disappointed that we didn't have more of a go, and I'm looking forward to listening to Steve Clark. I don't know when he'll next speak, but he'll obviously need to speak before we play the nation's league game. I think it's Poland at home, I've got September the 5th. Now, when he'll have a chance to reflect what he feels that we should have done better, or any of the greats, or the reasons why he didn't play as one. For example, James Forris, why did James Forris not get around the last 20 minutes? Why isn't that? I don't know, Steve Clark will tell us. There'll be a reason for it, Paul. There'll be an explanation whether we agree with it or not. There'll be a reason why there's always a reason why something doesn't happen or something that's too cautious. It might be, it could be something definitely that he's identified in the Hungarian team that night, who knows, but I was really, really deflated at the end of the three games given up before. It was a hungry game at heart, mate. Look, I can understand the first 45 minutes being cautious, making sure you're getting in, nothing each and I. I feel expected the same half. Let's go for them. Let the guys off the deletion. That's what I think looking back at that final 45 minutes, because I honestly believe that they were there for the taking. Hungry. That was a disappointing thing for me, and I think we have good players that can hop teams. There's no doubt in my mind about that. That last 45 minutes I just expected is to come out a bit more and go for it and leave everything on the pitch, but I still think Steve Clark is the right man to take us forward. It'll be interesting to see if he makes changes. He's going to change the formation and his nation's league games going forward. But yeah, when I look back on that Euro campaign way, a bit of frustration, a bit frustrated by the games, because Jeremy now listened, got to take a hat off to Matho, but they were exceptional against this. We couldn't get near them. I played against Swiss. I thought we were decent against Swiss. The best performance was in Matho, right? Do you know what? We were going to go for this against Hungary. Unfortunately, we didn't and we get put out. Graham's been on the socials that go football, showcasing Barry. What happened when you met Philip Clemour? He met you last week in Birmingham. What did you take from it? I would ask you, what did he say? I can imagine you'll say, look, it's a private conversation. What did you take from it? You're a legendary Rangers captain. He's the current manager. I took from it that he's trying hard to get players in and rebold the squad, because it has a rebold. There's no doubt he's been hoping about that. I was listening to him today, speaking in Sky Sports. It's a rebold. He used the world that's not an innovation, which normally gets two or three players in. He helped out this as a total rebold. You need a bit of time, but unfortunately, you don't get much time. When you sign players, a high percentage of them need to hit the ground running, and that's I go back to what I said earlier, Paul, that's the reason why I think we need a Rangers need that bit experience in the team, which I think they're lying at this moment in time. I think they're also as well, Paul. There comes a point where you need to stick with a manager. If the month of August does negotiate a plan for Rangers, I don't think that should be cautious. Unless the manager wants to go in Texas, you have had enough. But if he wants to see this through, because in the minute, he's going to have any staff who are going up with the three or four project signings in the hope of improving them. But he says, "I want to bring in three or four experience players." You can't keep sacking managers. You can't keep doing it financially. You can't do it, and you'll never get a balance for clubs with a brand. I direct to a football head of the recruitment. He was co-oping. He's new into the job. He's working with Philippe Clemon. The staff, he's brought in a new background staff member as well, to work with Alec Ray and the existing background staff. You can't keep sacking managers. It might be a bit painful for everybody at Rangers. The Rangers supporters in the next 12 months could be really painful, but then you've got to look bigger picture. You've got to look longer-term. You can just keep judging everything on the next few months and next few months and next few months. You can't keep doing it, because I think you can see that Philippe Clemon has got something. He's definitely got something to offer. That's why I would stick behind. Could be a bit of pain, but I would stick behind. Yeah, he's definitely a tiny. He's driven. That's one thing I got from him. But as I said, the rest of the chart will remain private. But I think you're going to see a fair bit of movement. Now, you've seen the end of the week there. Sam Llamers, now. You see Conor Gosling going away, speaking to, I believe, it's a separate club. Llamers, so. So I think now you'll start to see it more in a bit, because what obviously I look at support is I desperately see new players in. Because if you look at the summer that the players that have left, there is a bit of experience, Ryan Jack, an experienced player, John Lindstrom, an experienced player, Barnabarich, a Barasich, an experienced player, came out rough, all beaten. I've never played that much, experienced player. And it looks like Conor Gosling's on the way out, an experienced player. There's loads of chat about Tavaneer, who's a captain, experienced player. So they do need to bring in guys who have got that know-how, that guy should have, you can hang your heart on 35, 40 games a season. Guys that have played throughout there could be a three, four hundred games. So I think, and I believe that's the players that he's targeted, and we'll see you over the common mix if they're going to come through the door. Good ask on the mail at the weekend, Mark, you saw it said the headline, "There's no doubt Rangers must stick with Clemol." The question is, will he stick with Rangers? Yeah, yeah, and I think, I think that I said that the neat team of his Barasich, you look at it, he's gotten the place, he's absolutely gotten it. As I told you about it, and it's long overdue, let's be honest, you think of it, Paul, Rangers, at the end of the season, they had Rangers wage bills higher than sales. So they're not getting value for money. And they spent the last summer, sorry, there was a rebuild, 12 months ago. Michael Beale was giving 20 million quid, never worked out. He lost his job four months later. So that's my point. If this is a rebuild, and there's an acceptance with the board, but that's where the chairman needs to be honest and transparent with supporters. You know what? There might be some pain here, but we've got a plan, but no working everything in the next window. There's a five or six window plan for us to eventually become the number one club in the country again to go and overtake, so that's not going to happen overnight, Paul. That's not going to happen overnight. That's why the manager must be getting taken. In the signing, you can't afford to, I don't like using the word waste, but I look at two players, Sam Lamels, bought for three and a half million pound. I think it's round about two million pound. And then there's space here, a season that's a bit of money to waste. I lose, sort of, what? Yeah. It was a sifuentes, another one. They spent one and a half million pound on now. Who's a way out and loan again? I know these guys are going off the wage bill, but the money has to be spent wisely in players that you can hang your heart on and know that they're going to play weekend week out and make a difference to the start in the 11th. Here's Sid from Halifax on the line, the Rangers fan. Hi, Sid. Hi, guys. How you doing? Sorry, just doing this. That's who I thought I'd just pull in. Yeah. On your go. Good to hear you, Sid. Welcome to the Go Radio Football Show. So, what you thinking is a Rangers fan? How are you feeling? Yeah. So, just to reiterate, sort of on what Mark just said about, we can't keep on setting managers now. What I just thought of just there was now, if we'd, that people met against hearts when we lost, it seemed they're out of walks. We potentially went to 155, or I think it was either the Hamilton game or those one game around Ben, which he was really close to walking. If he'd done that, if we'd got rid of him, we potentially went to 155. So, it's about building, and I know it's where impatient aren't the same, but you do need to come to a point where you need to think, what's going to happen? You keep on changing, you keep on changing, and then it's just the same thing again and again. Yeah, Barry. You agree? You said it as well. You can't blame the managers just now. No, and I think they'll stick with the manager, and as I said to you, I can say Paul, he's driven to try and make Rangers better, and there is going to be a huge turnaround to happen just now, and there does need to be a bit of patience, but as Sid just mentioned, they're fans and supporters sometimes aren't patient, and they say, "I'm watching a couple of the preceding games, I'm going to be a bit frustrated, but I've got to take a step back, and remember, there's a lot of new players coming through the door, there's a lot of players left already, and I still believe there'll be another, could be three, four, five players leaving in the next four weeks." So, yep, there's big changes, but as I said, I think you have to stick with the managers, because as Mark mentioned, he can't keep changing the managers. These guys are in big contracts. It costs money to get rid of the managers as well, go ahead and remember that, and Mark, we know how it works. It then turns on the board, doesn't it? Very quickly. And that's why it's a big, it's a big couple of days coming up for John Bennett, because the fans know there's a July 31 deadline for the German, and it needs to be a proper insight as to what's going on. To paragraph a statement through the clock, no, it needs to be, I mean, if you really should be sitting down in front of the media, I book fan media, and all media radio, television, national newspapers, and given a proper pleasure as to where Rangers are as a football club, where he wants to take them as chairman, and in the immediate future of the next two or three months, what is happening with the stadium? Said, what do you want to hear from your chairman? Well, that's another point as well. I feel like we've been really let down by the chairman. I don't even think it's necessarily the manager's fault. The last few lines are just being chucked under the bus by the board. But yeah, we need to see what the long term vision is. We need to see, and I don't know whether he'll say this or not, but we need to see whether we've actually got actual money to spend, like actual money to spend on just one or two just top door signings. But the manager said, you need money in before you buy. Lauren Shanklin, for example, the manager didn't say Shanklin, but how do you feel about Shanklin? I'm a bit 50/50 on him. I'd probably rather have a dean player. Yeah, I'd probably rather have him over Shanklin, but I'm not to say I would mind. It depends on the fee, because he's got a year, a year, a year, a lifetime, a person in three-four million like that. That's not really worth the money. Barry, first of all, for John Ben, everyone says, "Great guy, Rangers fan through and through." It was always in the background, didn't want to be front of stage, but obviously the chief exec, James Bizgrove, has gone to Saudi. You feel a bit for the chairman, I would imagine, as well, but the buck stops with him. Yeah, and listen, I'm sure over the next few days, he'll come out and explain what's going to be happening, going forward, not just by the stadium, but also with the squad, there's going to be investment or the need to sell to bring money in. But the managers already pointed that out, that is the case at this moment in time. So, yep, I'm sure we'll hear from him in the coming days, and fans won't. They just want people to be open and transparent and know where their club's going. I don't think you can answer this, but Jack's been on from the West end and said, stay on. Mark, you say, how could this go so badly wrong? The stand. 600 places. How can it be so, I know, the steel was delayed and all the rest of it, but it seems lost any momentum that they might have had. Yeah, I mean, listen, but all the way, you go online, you look at things, you know, there's a vacuum being created for speculation posed to what exactly, you know, is going on. So, that's where you need to, and listen, you just need to be honest, it might not be what you want to hear. It might be pretty painful. It might be a long term, might be very, very expensive. Who knows? It's all guesswork at the moment. But the most important thing is, the Rangers fans who put them on into the club year and year out have been then convenience of having to move to Hamden for at least a month, if not longer. They deserve to know what's happening with a club with their stadium. As I say, it might not be what they want to hear, but John Bennett has to come out and give a clear picture and a proper update. Barry, who would you go for? Shankland, you did say last season. I like both, but I do think Rangers do need another number nine for competition. We obviously, Dersos, there's been chat about Dersos as well. Moving, Danilo is now back fit, but I believe they have to be cautious with that one because you suffered a serious injury. But, yep, you all, I believe, if you want to be successful, Paul, you need three or four strikers vying for that one place. Said, great call. Thank you. Ross is on next Celtic fan after the break. This is the Go Radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcasts. Let's go. Let's go straight on to the lines. Ross is on a Celtic fan. Ross, sorry to keep you good evening. You're welcome. How are you? Hey, Paul, Barry, hope you're going on two mil. Thank you. Ross is on your line. Barry's looking tanned. Yeah, you love that. Danilo's tanned is yours, too. Have you been on the golf course? Have you? Yeah, I've said golf. Last week, it was down the hoy just before the Manchester United game. The Far East, Edinburgh. I was hopeless. Well, yeah, bad day. But listen, not a harm. Don't move on. Ross, do you play? What play golf? Very Paul. No, no, I'm not a golfer. No, I don't think. I think if I was a golfer, half of my shorts, we'd end up in another club. So, Ross, what are you thinking? My point, obviously, as regards to getting closer and closer at the start of the season and Sunday, and for me, we are predominantly left. We're just QO goes. I strike you at the moment. And we don't know what this situation is. We are the metre. And I think from a selfie point of view, I would ideally try to like to get a striking in before it ended in August. But for me, I think we should have another striking in place. We've obviously lost O. We are more further forward in terms of the striker options. Now, I know obviously the blue drummers can have out, I think, left of a sniffing a lout-hatati and a neighbour potentially going to make a move. But I don't know where Roger's been down at Leicester after the bedroom to try and come to some sort of deal with the boys in actual up front with him, whether we've come to an arrangement with him, that if they take a try, we get him. I don't know if that would be an option to do that. But I think for me, another striker is Destin. And even though he's a Mjoski, I'm a big fan of Mjoski. And I think last season, he proved it by Aberdeen. I think if he got the service, it's Celtic. I do think it would be a good, good striker for us. And again, I'm a bit concerned that there's no lack of interest on any striker whatsoever at the moment. Mark? Yeah, I mean, I think you can understand Ross's frustrations. I'm sure Brendan Rogers, I'm sure the Celtic hierarchy I try to get deals over the line as well. They'll be frustrated. I mean, I think, looking at terms of smoothness, I'd like to see Adamida in the door. I think he showed in his five months at the club what he can do. Brendan Rogers is already in the staff with a chance to work on him. He knows the teams he's not coming in new to it. So you would expect him to come in and hit the ground running, whether he's going to be in time for Sunday or not, Paul. I've really no idea. But how long do you give that one? Then do you move on to Mjoski? In actual, it's a brilliant player. But the stumbling about right away to do something at that pain is he's probably in the fact that less I've just been promoted 100 grand a week, at least probably so. That kind of rules out. I would imagine things like that. But you're doing it, trying to be creative. But yeah, certainly at this stage, and I know as I want to go, so you judge it in September, the 1st, non-July, the 29th. But at this moment in time, I'm a bit surprised that Celtic haven't got more deals done. That said, the one deal that they have got done, and this is down to Brendan Rodgers, is for me, the most important one was getting a quality goalkeeper. Yeah. Barry, you wouldn't be surprised if Brendan Rodgers did some deals in England, given his connections. Yeah, but the don't issue you've got if you're going for Premier League players, as Matt's just mentioned, it's salaries. Oh, absolutely huge. I think they can afford the transfer fees if they're down to the final year of their contract or whatever. But it's the salaries that the stumbling block poke is the money that these players are on is absolutely frightening now with this. But I do fully expect Celtic to still bring in three-stroke, four players of high calibre. There's no doubt about that. Ross, the confidence factor seemed to be high. It ranges at the end of the season. Do you think that's still there? It seems to be the close season games there, Man City. Chelsea, did you watch the highlights? Yeah, to be honest, I actually stayed up to watch the majority of the games. I know that one of them was half-till in the moment, so it was a long nightfall, but not enjoyed the three games. And again, for pre-season, it's hard to take a lot of puzzles from a pre-season at the end of the season, because you don't know how it's going to be when it kicks making better of games. But I think with this season, I would fully expect Celtic to go at it again and hopefully win the league. But I think with Rangers in the scene at last season, you just can't write Rangers off when I know they are obviously having some issues with the stadium and stuff. And there's also a lot of background stuff happening. But I still feel like it's better than just to be up there, make season challenging for the league. So I think it's going to be a looking pet of the year. But just at Mark said, I think we cast Bushmico. I think that's an absolutely fantastic sign-in for Celtic. I just can say I've been heart left where we're going to go and who we're going to get. But to get a guy like cast Bushmico is experienced, I think it's pivotal. And I think that again, I really expect Rogers to use his contacts down south. And the reason I also spoke about it in actual was just, I think Celtic, if they're going to sell a tattoo, I think Celtic would look at anywhere between 16 and 20 million. Now if we managed to get an arrangement, the less still that we sell them for say, I don't know, 5 million, 6 million with the fact that we get an arrangement be an actual. Again, I don't know if that's something that we can peel off just due to the fact of the wages. But for me, I would expect for adjusted to use his contacts. And I feel expected it to be both of them. We've all got a striker that should wear that striker's coming from. And before you go, when you saw the draw yesterday for the link up, the Premier Sports Cup, Celtic against Hibbs. It's a great tie. It's at home. It's tough one though. Tough tie, yeah. No, again. Hibbs have also done well in their team here at the moment. So they've obviously had a couple of games prior to their scheme. So again, I would feel it sticks Celtic pull a kick on there and gets through. But no, I'm looking forward to the season and I'm glad it's this week that's happening. And I'm ready to go again. Cheers, Ross. Thanks for calling. Here's Derek, a big range of fun on the line. Hi, Derek. Good evening. Hi, Paul. Hi, Paul. How are you doing, Derek? I'm about to end earlier on that you can't keep second managers. But you can't keep playing Celtic when 12 is all the same mark. And I think it's obviously a bad start and brought this point to either hearts or Celtic. It doesn't mean it's time to blink. I don't think the fans will watch until us. If you don't want to point and speak to Celtic at Celtic part, that'll be five or six games to play a victory against Celtic. The fans won't watch into this. And it seemed as clear. I think it was two and a half long of a pound and then comes away and he's not ready for positive action and he's going to be ready. But the budget reasons I've got, he plays like that. And I've taken two of these questions. I've got to be asking him if he drops points and make it right at the start of the season. Mark, yeah, I get your point. There's no doubt, of course, there's tremendous pressure to go and deliver a title and to go and win more cups and beat Celtic, it's got to be his starting point. I get that. I agree with you on that. Now, if the end of August was sitting in all of a sudden rain, just find a 20 million pound kitty for a Philip Clemorn and he makes an absolute hash of it. Then I think there's ground to see, relax. There's the right man. But at this moment in time, he's not sitting with that. He's actually haven't got the places I rebuild. So what my point is, you can't keep cycling. I think with the benefit of hindsight, if you look back, and I don't know if you agree with it. But my view would be, rings were probably too quick to sat you van Ivan Broncos. They should have given them more time. I think it was a quality manager. But they made the move and then they get Michael Biel, et cetera, et cetera. But given the constraints that the manager currently is working under, who's going to come in and do better? So what do you do? If you get rid of the managers, you get rid of the old scorpion as well. I'm very all know better than me, but all the changes that he's made in the background, the medical, the sports side, do you get rid of these? At some point, you need to stick with them. And there needs to be patients from the Rangers supporters and the Rangers board. As in, this is who I've got, there's a four or five transfer window rebuild on here. Yeah, of course, we want to go and beat so it will never concede anything to sell to anything else. But there needs to be a reality check from Rangers supporters and the Rangers hierarchy as well. There's a hell of a job for Felica owner, any manager, however it's going to be. But my point would be, I think he needs to be cut a bit of slack given the constraints that he's working under just now. Barry, what would you say? I think the chairman understands what the managers having to do just now. I think the managers come in. He's about looked at the squad, looked at the players, and I think he understands now it's a bigger rebuild than he actually thought when he first came in. Listen, as I said, you do need a bit of patience, but you've got to understand, he just finds the demand. The demand you want to pull, the demand trophies, and you need to go off to a really good start because August is a honestly, it's huge for Rangers. They got off to a good start in the league. Get through that Champions League qualifiers, and also you've got St. Johnson League Cup game, thrown into the mix. So I think they understand there's huge challenges in front. But one thing I will say, the Rangers fans, they're a bit on edge at times, and I get that. They'll still get behind the team. Derek, how surprised are you and disappointed about being at Hamden and not having eyebrows for, well, till October? I think drawing Ben is a bit more transparent with the fans. He's put this season, but money up his welfare to 6-2 in average in Paul, and I don't think he's been very transparent. He's been very cage in what's actually wrong with the stadium, what's going on, how long have we going to be at Hamden? And what's happened to the money? And the time cadwell, what's happening there as well, like not just come in front of me this year, and then she's going to have a year, but no transparency. And I think we just have been for that very trouble team. I hope I'm wrong, but I find there are trouble things ahead that we just... All right, Derek. I know that Mark said, Mark, you have been long enough as a journalist and I said, you know, she'll not be giving the time. Don't kill yourself, or better managers of Hamden have been removed. She'll not be giving the time in this set. I think you know that yourself, Mark. Obviously, at some point, there needs to be patience. Derek, as I said, I'll just reiterate, I get you, and I know what you're saying, you'll probably end up being right, but my point is you can't keep attacking managers. If things aren't going to be planned, it's not... At the moment when you look at Rangers as a football club, if as anything goes wrong in the month of August, it won't be all down to the manager. That's the first hour of the season for us. We're back after the break. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen live, weeknight's from 5 on Go. This is the Go Radio Football Show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Call 08, 08 at 17, 17, 700. This time tomorrow night, John Hartson will be here along with Craig Merr, so we'll be speaking about Rangers and Celtic tomorrow night. At the moment, Barry, in the last few minutes, the Rangers chairman is speaking on YouTube to Rangers fans, so that's what we called on the first hour. We didn't realise it would happen so quickly. Yeah, we just get the news here, so Mark's away, obviously. Watch that and write a few notes, but listen, fair play at the chairman. John Bennett is sitting down and he's obviously going to explain what's going on with the stadium situation, and I'm sure he'll go on to obviously the plain side of things and about the manager, and what they're expecting and what they're going to do in the next month or so to the window, finally closing. So yeah, a lot of people have been calling for it, and listen, the chairman is now sitting down in front of the carmenace and speaking about, obviously, the issues that people are worried about. He started speaking about the stadium itself and he said, "Look, I know nature hates a vacuum and there's a vacuum about information." And he started to speak about two minutes ago about what happened. He's explaining that at the moment. He said, "Nobody is more frustrated than I am." Paul, a big Rangers fan, and he's back on the line. Hi, Paul. Welcome back. But I want to get the show back here. Thank you. Thanks for looking on your show tonight, and I have to have, look, I'm just going to go. I'm still in my heart, I'm still optimistic, hoping things settle down, and I'm listening to the manager, and I'm listening to the podcast, you know, I'm trying to believe, but another thing you think, you know, I've watched the PCs engage with Birmingham and so on, I've got a bit better with the unions in Europe, I'm curious about your bonkers game. It was a bit better, more intense, I don't worry. I don't worry, thanks. I just think people are trying to, it's a striker, and we still have known the guests, and I think, you know, we've got a long-term score, right? But you pay a straight-up bit of a goal, no, I don't think they just seem to be trying to do this. This holds, it's a team system 4.2.3.1. I've never thought why the angels play the two central, the same, mid-founders. I don't get a lot of corner bar, and I think he's a great center to get in show, whilst he or a kid, we serve out for him. But I don't know why, I don't know what the game is, and maybe I'm on skills I've had, like, you know, I think people like Brian Cross, so podcast, and things like that. And if you'd, you know, you'd pay a defender to keep the ball out of the box, you'd pay a good pick, and stop the goal, cross the line. And why do I not plan to stay, just go for people, like Lauren Shankler, and just say they don't get a ball and kill you to escort the goals. What are the things I'm trying to do? Because Deafers are not an out-of-the-go scorer, but why do they aim for, like, like, banks to score goals at the path, and that's what I've done. All right, let's put that to Barry. What would you say to Paul? Yeah, look, I get where Paul's coming from. At times I do think you can go with a couple of number names. There's no doubt about it, but it's clear that the manager's not doing that. It's clear that he's a 4-2-3-1, or a 4-3-3, whatever, where you want to put it, he clearly likes wisdom in the team. But I can understand Paul's frustration, why no playway to up front. But I'll bonus you, Paul, just obviously watching Rangers. I don't think that's the way that Philip Clement's going to go in the new season. But I do still believe that we do need to bring another number nine, I spoke about it just before the break, Paul. We've got Deafers. There is a bit of rumour flying about Deafers' might be on the move. De Nilo's just coming back from a major injury. But I'm a big believer in a successful team, needs the A4. Number nine, vying for that one or two positions. But Rangers going forward and playing under the manager, I do think they will only go with that show striker. Paul, this is what your manager was saying today to Sky Sports about the rebuild. We knew we needed to make a rebuild of the squad, so a rebuild is not a renovation. Of course, as a manager, you like to do an innovation. Two chains, one, two, three players, and keep you in court of your team and grow out of last season. But that was not the case. So we had an older squad. We had also six players leaving for free. They were in the contract, so they changed a lot. So there's still a lot of work to do. And what about the transfer process? If you can find one fan who's happy now about all the transfers done in a club, we will do a great job, I think. So it's all over in all the teams, all the squads that fans want more. And that's why they are fans also. That's normal. It's a busy period. It's also a period that started later than normal because of the euros. The club did already a lot of things inside the budget that we have. But we don't have a budget that we just spend money to spend money, so we need to do it wise and not only short-term, but also long-term. So like I said, a lot of the core of the club and the team left also, and also were above their 30s. So we need to reinvest also in younger players and in development for the future. So it's looking short-term and long-term. Barry, if Tavernier goes, who would be your captain? Or does the painter comes in? Would it be Jack Button? I would wait and listen, say if Tavernier went at the weekend or whatever, or before the weekend, then it would obviously go to Jack Butler and to his probably the most senior experience player. But just listening to manager, when you look at the transfers out, Paul, who have left the club, including the loans, that is nine players. And there's still rumours about obviously corner Goshen, James Tavernier, and obviously I'm saying rumours toward Cantwell has expressed his desire to leave. So that's 12 players that could boot the door before the season starts, and there's only been six new signings at you, if you want to say seven, with the O'Mandy, been made up, apparently. So it is a fair rebel, Paul. It is, and I still think there's a fair bit of work to be done. And I think the manager didn't expect this to be the case when he first came through the door. I think once he settled in and he's looked at his squad, he's understood that he's had to go and do this, and listen, it takes some things it takes players a bit more time to settle than others. Quite a lot of the players are young as well, who I don't expect them to be certain starters, probably out of the young players that have signed. I only look at corner Barren being one that would possibly start, we can week out the restroom. I would say more project players. Obviously, we signed Jeremy, who's 26 years of age, and experienced an national player. And then if you throw the O'Mandy in, he obviously done really well last year, and I've got big expectations. So it's a lot of work getting done at Rangers, and I still believe it's more work to be done. Huge amount to be done, Paul. Overall, then, you said you're still hopeful, but the fact that you're not playing at iBrucks, how big a factor is that going to be? Then, I've got to put in, I think, like you said, a new cluster in Barren, and all that, and the new things I've got, and one of the guys that I'm not going to experience at until, no, a quarter of a year through the season, whatnot. So I think that's going to be our, I don't know, we're just going to have to, we're going to have to navigate it. But when you've done well for the year, I've not seen, I can't compare COVID, I've been doing it against the stadium, but what I'm giving is, you know, they had to deal with it. That can be, can be a situation where they didn't get taken in, they know the money, so they wouldn't know. We can all like that yet, but, um, the court has to be keen to come over a fair city and things like. So hopefully, we'll get that can be in place. But I believe in, you know, my heart, as I said, my heart series, I believe in come on out the way, talks, I like just my management, you know, too much from the sidelines, I suppose, but, um, you know, I don't bother things, but the young guys joining us here, because you remember him, um, assuming the way down south, I think, on our own, we're an option to buy down there. To Exeter, I always want to. I think I thought he was great, I thought he was great at the top coming. Do you know what? He rented me at the Pacific, Tldenbassen. Yeah, right. I thought I had a chance to have a bit of interest where go to in that going, but. Barry, did you think he had a chance? Was he? Yeah, haven't I seen him? I like to look over him, but listen, he's, he's obviously been down there. Exeter now for a season's loan, where I view a moving penalty. So I don't think he's going to be, um, part of the, the squad going forward, but Paul, you mentioned the other state, right here, 32 days left to the transfer window. That's when I think you make a judgment. I still honestly believe that there's going to be some players moving out way a bit of money coming in, and I'm sure that'll get reinvested back into the, into the squad, because when I look at the signings, Liam Kelly's 28, the rest are all 22 and under. They're sorry, Germany's a 20 sexual loan signing. Good age, 26. Yeah, and I think that's the kind of age bracket will now start to, to go guys who have been experiencing playing weekend and week out and been under a bit say, bit say pressure. Guys, you can hang your hat on, Paul, um, and they can turn out 35, 40, 45 games. I says, and that's what I know, think Rangers need. Um, getting added to the squad, hatch Rangers on Saturday, bro, you game both Shankman play and who fought it. Yeah, listen, but what a game to look forward to. Away, 10 cars up for me, love playing there. Opening day, the, the season, it's a cracking game to be involved in. Lauren Shanklin, I've said it, Paul, I've said it since the room has started. I would sign them in a heartbeat. If you get one for the right money, he's into the final year, his contract. I don't know what that money is. I've got a bit respectful. He's still a hearts player, but for me, he's, he's a very good player. I think he's improved so much over the last, uh, couple of seasons and, uh, been no brainer for me. If it was at the right price for dreams, Paul, do you have them at the right price? Oh, 100%. I think that that's a, that's a typical Rangers historical thing. And if you look back, you might say, if I was buying any malware, yeah, that's quite good. Yeah, natural novel. And he's a big difference. He did that. I think if he'd send them, I know it's all awesome, but it seemed in the career, the last year, it could have steeped us a week, maybe, couldn't always, but I was not got shown up, but I, like, I'll be channeling. Paul, good call. Thank you so much. Oh, eight, oh eight, 17, 17, 700, Paul Canine, Barry Ferguson, Mark Whitti is with us as well, but he's listening at the moment to the Rangers chairman, John Bennett. He loves all that stuff. He's out of the breaking news. Chief reporter. He was good. He used to drive you nuts though. And the manager has been speaking today about Philip Clausman speaking about Todd Cantwell, so it was strange. He's asked for a transfer request. You don't hear that very often. Listen, you split us a opinion, Paul. Sorry, were you going to play something? They're just going a bit tight. You split us a opinion. I think if he's surrounded with the right players and the right formation and you play them up further forward, I think he's a game changer. Now listen, it's clearly the song went on. It's no worked out. He's asked to leave. And now you've got to focus on who wants to be there. And I'm sure there'll be teams down south that will take them. And that's one player that I'm sure Rangers will get a bit money in. I'm going to get that money in. They'll reinvest it. And a new player's coming in at the club. I kept the door all the time open all these weeks because it's already a while ago that he came the first time with that. So no, it's as long as a player is here and we believe in his qualities, the door is always open. But of course, we need to focus now on the guys who are totally with their minds in the club and to getting the results next couple of weeks. So we will see what happens. Barry, eyebrow raised there. Yeah, I didn't know he came a while ago. But clearly, it's nothing that's good management. The manager obviously told you went to the manager and he's let it sit with himself and told. And obviously he's went away in the office and he's come back and he still has those feelings that he wants to maybe try something new. And listen, Paul, you don't want to keep a player that doesn't want to be there. But listen, I've it's coming for a fair bit of criticism and a past toward can't wait. I've backed him because I honestly do think he's got something in the locker. But look, now it's clear that he doesn't want to be there. And listen, what you just told has to move on. We just have to move on now, for sure. It's been this guy sports today for a little long was asked about the conditioning and the changes that he's made behind the scenes over the past couple of months. We fixed things for sure. Not everything yet, you cannot do that in five weeks. That's impossible. But we almost didn't have injuries in the preseason. We had an unlucky one with with Nicola Raskin with with a bad tackle. Those things can happen with football with a few minor muscle things, but nothing major. So that's a big step forward. And like I said, several players who were injured the last two, three years, a lot much more in preseason now. So there will be more robust. But this is not the end of the preseason for them. The next two, three months will be also crucial to to make them stronger and to make them better. So we need to make a good combination with me making them stronger and letting them play games and that they are ready for things. And of course, to win the games. That stays the most important. I think I'm all speaking today about the conditioning in the background. Mark Gudy has joined us. Hot foot. We're just saying you love these moments. It has been over there for a couple of years now. Have your own sources, aren't you? Have you cake? It's with James Sandelson coming in here. Hello, I've got exclusive news for you. Mark, John Bennett speaking there on YouTube to the Rangers fans. Yeah. What's he saying? I've just listened to the full 20-minute interview. Paul and first of all, Rangers fans will admire the chairman for his honesty. That's what we've been speaking about in this program for the past 80 minutes. Just be honest. Some of it, they won't like it what they want to hear, but it's honesty, Paul and it's where he's wanting to take the club in alignment with for the come on. I'll give you a couple of bullet points before the break. On the stadium, three deliveries required for the steal to get the stadium done. First delivery has her eye. Second delivery is due to be the second week of August. They can't start the work until the second delivery arrives. Third delivery is due to arrive. Third week of August, but it's still at sea. It's the problem. Getting to the point, when will Rangers be back in at eyebrows? He says, "I can't give certainty." He says, "I'm frustrated about that more than anybody." He says, "But delivery two and delivery three are on time. My aspiration is that we're back at eyebrows by the end of September, but that is with the caveat that the two deliveries are arriving time and that's out with his control. I have to worry about watching him and listening to him. I don't think he's confident that they'll be back in the end of September, but that's his aspiration. That's the stadium. Very reaction on that, first of all. I was like everybody expecting the start of September, listen, but you've got to praise him for being honest. That's what you want. You want to just honesty. There's obviously a delivery situation, the second and third week. There's every chance there's a high possibility that that could get delayed. That also means Paul, regardless, whatever European competition Rangers are playing in, all the home games will be handed. You can't switch. Once you're the stadium, you need to play all your home games again. But that's huge as well, isn't it, for Champions League or Europa League? Yeah. I'm just thinking about the fixtures in September, but Paul, I don't think Rangers have many fixtures at home. I know it's going to be at home. I'm just going to check through that way all week, obviously. On the fires then? On the finances, if you remember, when I took over this chairman, we had pre-player trading losses of 10.5 million per year. I said my number one mission was to eradicate that, and that remains my number one mission. They said it's unsustainable as a business. It says we're well on the way to eradicating those kind of losses, but it's required a cultural change and a people change at the football club because it was not a sustainable business model. Philippe Clemourne is on board with this. He is all in. I like his leadership. I like his management. He has identified that as a recruitment model for player trading, we need to recruit long-term and short-term. In the past, far too much has been about the short-term and it's caused us problems at the football club. It says, "So Philippe is all in. I'm all in. We don't need to be done." I said, "There's going to be moments of adversity." He said, "We're in a moment of adversity just now." He said, "For me, I find it painful. I find it bruising, but we stand up to it and we'll get through it." He says, "All the different challenges that we face just now." He said, "But we can't continue to operate as a football club as we have operated in the past." He said, "It is unsustainable." He said, "At the moment, in 2024, finally, he says, "In transfer, payables." He says, "Not counting loans. In transfer, payables for permanent deals. In 2024, we stand right now. We are 11.5 million. Order and player transfer fees." So that's what we've spent at the moment and pledged to spend so far in 2024. So the paid are all 11.5 million. We do 11.5 million in 2074 in terms of permanent transfers, but not counting the one deals. Barry, what do you make of that? We hear obviously the headline that he says, "The manager is all in and he's all in." Yeah, I just like, I like these interviews because obviously he's headed a club and he's come out and he's been brutally honest. As Matt says, some supporters might not like it, but I like the honesty. I'm sitting there in front of the cameras and explaining the situation certainly with the stadium, but also with the manager and obviously the player trading model they're doing now and obviously the money that they've outlayed in transfers in 2024, which is more than I thought. If I'm honest with you, you've got the old man day who was the big sign in, I think, four million euros, but there's another seven and a half million been spent. So there has been money there to spend and I'm sure with the players that we spoke about, just call our goalsters and chat that talks to us now with this separate club toward Cantwell. There's a lot of talk round about James Tavinia. I'm sure there'll be more money coming in and I feel I expect the chairman would anyone that comes in that he would give the manager to go and reinforce the squad. Mark, I'm going to have to take a quick break, but that is one of the questions then. Is there so any money, 11 and a half million so far this year, to spend any more they need to sell? Yeah, the manager's been clear about that. Yeah, what he's saying is there's a cultural change at the corporate. If you look back in the past 10 years since RAINZERS get into all that difficulty, 2011, 2012, and then also getting back into the top flight under the Matt Ward button in 2016, I think there has been too much short-termism, too much short-term. Now there's a clear picture of how to drive the football club, to put a long-term model of sustainability in place. Yet it's frustrating, but I think the key phrase for me and one of the key phrases is, I know what needs to be done, I'm doing it, it's bruising me, it's painful, but I know what needs to be done, and Philippe Clements is all in with this plan. I understand the long-term and I get that, you have got to think in the future, but also there's got to have been the mix, they had a bit of short-term as well, because you have to get results and you have to win trophies, certainly at a club with angels. He says that, take all this in the account, of course, but it's one of those. And there's more, but we need to win, we need to win. Quick break, and then we're back, Mark Wedi, with John Bennett, who's just been speaking to the Rangers fans on YouTube. This is the good radio football show. Listen anytime, whatever you get, your podcast. Monday evening, we're back with the bang, a lot happening at Ibrokes this afternoon, the chairman, John Bennett speaking, really for the first time to Rangers fans and everyone else about what's happening at the club, with the transfers, the manager, and of course, he kicked off speaking about the stadium. There's work being done over the summer, we know it was delayed, but Mark Wedi, you were saying that the work will start in August, and the hope, hope to have it finished by the end of September, but there's not a certainty around that. No, he said, I've been striving for certainty, but I can't give certainty right now. He says, however, my aspiration is we will be back at Ibrokes at the end of September, that the Steve S will see deliveries all first deliveries arrived. They can't start any working till the setting delivery arrives, which is during the set week of August, third delivery, it's in the third week of August. Listing to him, watched his body language, I don't think he's overly confident of that, because out with his control, Paul said, I don't think they'll be back, and I'd be very surprised if Rangers are back in Ibrokes at the end of September, as he says, I'm striving for certainty, but unfortunately, I can't give it to the Rangers supporters right now. He said, this is a moment of adversity. He said, it's painful, it's bruising, but we stand up to it, and we get on with it. Mark's been on asking, Mark, as it's another Mark, as a journalist, what do you take from this? Is this softening up the fans for a season of real transition? It's going to be really difficult. I think I wouldn't say soft enough, Paul, what I think it's just an honesty, and yeah, there's a painful time ahead, obviously, with the stadium. He said, well, we can't keep losing 10.5 million. There's a cultural change at the club, because it's not so saying about your business that way, but the key phrase, I think, as well, is the manager's all in. We need to recruit long-term and short-term. It can't just all be about a short-term fix, because that's unsustainable. It says, but the manager's all in, I'm all in with it, and there's been a cultural change at the club, and that cultural change, and people change, will continue to get where we want to be. That said, there's 50,000 Rangers supporters who want to see their team every week, and they get that. There's a need to win as well and to go and put a proper challenge, and to sell it, but Paul, the evidence is there as well. Rangers have won one title in the last 30 to one, one title, and seven since they've been back up, if you want to put it that way. So the evidence is there that it's going to take a while, and what it's always been, I think, in the past has been short-term fix, short-term fix, short-term fix. Now there's a longer-term vision, and when you put a longer-term vision in place, Paul, that tends not to bring immediate results, but you're putting something in place, first of all, to stop you losing 10 million quid a year, to reduce your wage bill and get better value for money. So all those wee things go into place, and hopefully the range of supporters that are listening to John Bennett and what so will have an understanding of that and a bit of patience, but that's always the case. Rangers last season, Barry, we're paying more money to the first team than Celtic. How could that be? Yeah, we were chatting about that last year on the programme, and I'm sure that's one of the things that the chairman has to address, the salaries, the wage bill was too high. Let's be honest, but come back and listen to Martin, the stuff that he's noted down, it's not the answers you want to hear, but do you know what? At least he's out there, he's put himself out there and he's spoke, open and honest about the situation, about the stadium, and also what I like is it's not just about the stadium, it's about obviously the manager and the players and what they're trying to do going forward, and I get a long-term vision, I'm all for that, I'm all for the player-trading model, but when I say when Martin come in, it's about now as well, you need to win, this is Rangers, you're talking about, you're expecting and demanding to win, so that's why I go back to the squad when I look at it, and I look at all the young signings all under 22 apart for chairman who's just been 26, you need a bit of experience, you need a bit of, and that core of the team and that's something that I'm sure the manager's identified and are listening on my day, and he spoke about that, that is a part of the team that he wants to obviously strengthen the experiencing players coming through, don't help these younger players, because when I was a young player coming through, say they experienced guys, such a big help to me, and I think when you get good experienced pros, that can bring these young players on, and then eventually, hopefully, it can make the club a lot of money. Mark, we know how this city works, we love the league here, the country, Scottish football, in many ways, we'll talk about all the other teams, but it comes down to Celtic and Rangers, Rangers and Celtic, and all the words go out the window when it comes to the beginning of September, the end of August, the end of August, doesn't it? You know how it works? Yeah, John Bennett's statement, I'm sure he will get a real level of understanding, and a bit of sympathy, as we're on it, and I have to be clear too, but I've got to say that he apologized to the Rangers fans, so he made that clear, he said I apologize to the fans for the uncertainties, he says I wanted to live a clarity, he says but I can't, unfortunately, I can only deliver my aspiration as it were back in the stadium right in the September, he says but he says we have to finish this job, remember what this renovation work is about and who it's for, for the supporters, he says we have to finish it and we will finish it. It's a disabled section as well, isn't it? So 600, 600, yeah, and that's important to get it right, nobody could have envisioned, has somebody, is somebody carrying the can for this or have people gone already? No, there was no fingers pointing at any individuals, I mean, you know, because of time constraints, I don't, unless I'm mistaken, I haven't listened to it in full, but there wasn't anything, so we'll be clear as well, there was nothing about this is on James Bizgrove, okay, so there was nothing like that unless I've missed a wee bit, so there was no finger point, there was about painting a picture to the Rangers fans of where they are, the strategy for the club longer to always about the stadium, what they're spent, what they can't keep doing is a football club, so we can't keep losing 10 million quid every year, it's unsustainable, so it's clear he's having to have any deliver some painful, truth things, that paint him, things that have bruised him, but he's put himself out there today, but Barry makes long overdue, let's be honest, it's long overdue from John Bennett, but now you credit him for giving the Rangers fans a picture, and you just hope that the Rangers fans have a level of understanding of where the club is, and that might be a bit of pain ahead. Barry, that was my next question, because you speak to Rangers fans, you speak to the players, the management, the directors, a lot of them not happy, you can understand it, do you think they will feel happier now that they've heard the chairman say? Yeah, the main man in the club, the guy at the top of the tree has come out and sat there in front of the cameras, I'm actually looking forward to getting home and sitting down and watching it, and getting through it listening to most of you and whilst my friend here, he's done clearly well, the short hand, but listen, that's what people were crying out for, Paul, people wanted to hear, and the chairman's come out and he's delivered a message, it's painful for him, and also it's it's going to be painful for the Rangers supporters who in my opinion are the most important people at the club, but listen, as would it as in I'm sure, whatever Rangers play, it's a hand in us, whatever, the Rangers fans will still follow and come out in the numbers. Mark, wonder whether the reaction will be at Celtic, some Celtic fans will have enjoyed it, and they have, we've seen stuff in social media, it's the nature of the game, but I wonder, does this affect Celtic at all, the fact that Rangers are in a tough close season on and off the park, but for Celtic, what kind of business are they going to do, is this going to have any impact on what Celtic will spend over the next 32 days? Well, it shouldn't have, let's be honest, it shouldn't have Paul, that shouldn't be the way you go about your work, as you know, seeing what's going to cross the city, you should have a plan in place, and regardless of what your rivals do, you execute your plan, because if you don't, then that goes back to the point, a bit short termism, and doing things, you know, there's another quote there from John Bennett in terms of recruitment, and in terms of how they've gone about their business as a football club, and the transfer market in a partial use, brutal lessons have been learned, brutal lessons have been learned in terms of how they've conducted their recruitment. So that tells me, that tells me that they've went for players, I've overpaid for players, whether that's transfer fees, whether that's salaries, and now that has to change. Yeah, I'm looking forward to watching it. Mark brutal, that's a strong for a chairman of a port, isn't that? Paul, if he's sitting down there and he's inherited a parachute, you're losing 10.5 million, that's brutal. What kind of money do you think? I'm just trying, I hate when somebody's left the building to have a go, but Michael Beale, for example, but the Rangers fans all bought in to remember, this time last year, Rangers fans were saying, "Oh, look at the signings we've made, Rangers are going to win the league." I asked, I said, I was, like, buzzing, everybody was in really early members, I'd appreciate it. That's right, yeah, a lot of business was done early, and you know what, generally, you don't see that at football clubs, whether it's in Scotland, England, Spain, Italy, you never see an influx of new players and a lot of money spent coming in. The first day, basically, pre-season, but listen, it obviously went pear-shaped, there was no doubt about that, the way that Rangers started this season, I was at so many games, and I'll go back to it, I'll go back to it, I'll burn the feet, yeah, no, I broke some. I could not believe what I was watching, I thought to myself at that stage, Rangers are in serious trouble, obviously, changing. Manager, the new manager, come in, generally, you get a kick out, Rangers got a cup last year, which you have to do when you're at Rangers, you have to win stuff, but then it kind of petaled off towards the last couple of months, the end of the season, I'm just looking at some of the quotes now, that's been a manager's obviously thought to yourself, this is a bigger re-balding, I actually thought it was going to be. Mark, back to that word, brutal, comes back to the border as well, doesn't it? Ultimately, they trusted people that weren't making the right decisions for the club, huge amount, what kind of money is where spent? Have you got any idea off the kind of wages that they're getting off the wage bill? Not all of them, but they've got some of the big numbers. I think there was a number of Rangers players that worked the area and was dwarfing with silty players within. John Langston, for example, didn't get value for money, so he keeps roughly pulling, I'll always kind of, I don't laugh, actually, well, how do you know exactly what Sunday's at? Okay, unless you've actually sitting with a wage slip in front of them. So, ballpark, let's look at players that have left the club in the past month or so. So, ballpark figures, John Lundstrom, roughly 35 grand. Because they've got money free from Sheffield United. So, 35 grand a week. Born a barisage, couple of new contracts, probably 25 grand a week. Robin McCrory, maybe 5, 6, 7 grand a week. Keema Ruth, the guts are 40 grand a week. Fabio Silva, anything between 14, 60 grand a week on the loan. San Lamas is away, he's having about 30 grand a week. Seema would probably be about 20 grand a week in terms of the loan to Brighton, Paula Goldson, and I think this is part of the problem, why he's not away at it, is because he'll be looking to get weighed in in terms of you know, so he'll be hyped. I think the pay for today is 37, yeah. So, you're looking at that. James Tavernier, who might be getting out the door, will be 30, 35, no doubt, Todd Cantwell, could be 25 grand a week. So, there could be 250 grand a week. Paul, well, you know. Obviously, you still need to recruit the pro players in, but I would say, if you're a Rangers chairman, Paul, you're a businessman, sitting at that football club and you've inherited this balance sheet. And then you get a wee state, okay, let's look across the road. What a Celtic pin. So, hold on, we are paying more in wages than Celtic, but Celtic have basically been wiping the floorways for the past few years. And how does it pay for? That's right. Where they sell on players. Now, Rangers did. We know that a couple of players in the bank. Exactly. Yeah. And a hundred million in the bank. We've just done that a few years ago, of course, like Alvin Barsey and Joe Adiebel. Absolutely. But if you're looking at, listen, this is guessing. If you're seeing a quarter of a million pound a week, you just think, look me, I'm saying, I need to take at least a hundred grand off that. That's what you're looking at. And still challenge Celtic next season, but this new season, because that's what it's called. So, that's the challenges that the Chairman's going to have. That's the challenges that the manager's going to have. Obviously, the kind of transfer committee they've got in there. So, there's a lot of challenges ahead. But again, I'll go back to it. At least the Chairman has come out and been honest and sat in front of the Cameron's and now I'm sure the Rangers fans will understand the situation that's going to be happening and the club going forward the next certainly few months. Great timing during the Go Radio Football Show. Mark, can you organize with big John Hartson tomorrow night that we get something from Celtic during the show? You can't beat it, or can you? When the season comes back, the domestic season. What a start. And let's give to the Rangers Chairman for timing it nicely for the return of the Go Radio Football Show. Go Radio Football Show, Polkany, Barry Ferguson. And Mark Gudy tomorrow night, we'll be here with Craig Moore and John Hartson. So, there'll be a lot tomorrow, but Barry a lot in that first since the news. Yeah, go ahead for us. Getting that, Mark, going out for like 10-15 minutes and bringing quite a bit information in. So, yep, that will be interesting. You see now the thoughts of some of the Rangers support us. Obviously, what the take is on the Chairman come out and been very honest. What's happening? Mark, a bit more? Yeah, I mean, just looking through all the kind of bullet points, Paul, because you don't listen, any Rangers support, or if I've not already listened to it, they should go and listen to it. And for any football support, I want to listen to them because it's news about a massive football club. But again, going back to the transfers and how they're all operated as a club, we need to get away from how we operated in the past. The Rangers board, as I'm talking about previous transfer windows, the Rangers board constantly backstop the transfer windows. Can't keep going like that. In other words, a lot of them, they've funded a lot of it themselves, something with different loans and kind of stuff. So, it says the 10 and a half million pre-player trading losses had to be eradicated. It was unsustainable, one way on our way to eradicating it, and it's required a cultural change and a people change, and that is constantly ongoing. We need to change the way we go about our business, long-term recruitment is more important now in terms of how they operate as a football club, short-term recruitment, also important, but it's a longer-term vision. And Philippe Clemon is all in. He is all in with how we want to go forward as a football club. Mike, we're not football finance experts, but Celtic have bought 80, 90 million in the bank. Now, you could squander that easily, but they won't. Do Rangers need investment in the football club in the board then to get? Yeah, you would imagine so, Paul, but then you, okay, so you look at the evidence of last season, they ultimately sell it when the league, that's all that mattered. They played Rangers five times, beat them four out of five in the cups and the league. That's it. Every time they played, there was a single goal victory, so they went white in the floor with them over 90 minutes. So, we'll see how it goes, but ultimately, the evidence is there that what Rangers are doing, however they're going about it, it's not been good enough, because only one league at a seven to eight years since they've been back in the top flight. Financially, they're nowhere near. Celtic at the moment, tell me what you said, Paul, 80, 90 million in the bank, guaranteed 30, 40, still to come in, and the possibility, if they want to, of selling an array layer, or attacking in a 20 million quad fee and for them. So, that's what, if you compare the two, so who have Rangers got? Apart from Jack Button, I don't think there's anybody worth more than 10 million quid in the squad at this moment in time. So, they had behind, but that's where, like I was saying, they did it because his band has been saying tonight as well. I know there's a need to win, there's a need for immediate success, but there's also a need to put a long-term plan in place that requires patience and understanding. That's why I said you can't keep exactly managers, because it's not the fault of the manager all the time. Barry, is there some big money on the horizon? Somebody coming in, or a corporation? You hear different things, shouldn't you? Any board at any club would always welcome fresh investment, and I'm sure the Chairman's actively looking to try and get that. But listen, I know that model Rangers are going forward with, I like it. I do like the fact that you're bringing in young players and trying to make them better and selling them on for the big profits, but also, you've got to remember, Paul, that you do need that help beside you, certainly on the football pitch, and that's, you can't buy experience in mice, and understand what Rangers are trying to do, but also, I do think they believe, and they know that they do need to bring in some experienced players that have been about the block. It doesn't need to be outstanding players in mice, just guys who know the game inside out and can obviously help progress, not just the team, but these young players that have come into the club. All kicks off this weekend. Saturday, hearts against Rangers, and model against Ross County, sure get a well-stinging criticism of his team after the performance against Parthik Thistle, Sunday, Dundee United against Dundee, St. Maren against Hibbs, and it's flag day at Celtic, the Champions, Celtic against Colmarnock, and Monday, St. Johnson against Aberdeen, and you already would maybe worry about St. Johnson this coming season. For Celtic Mark, I'm just thinking, because people tune in, there's been a lot of Rangers tonight, quite rightly because of that, there wasn't even a media conference that was the chairman speaking to the Rangers fans. For Celtic, Kasper Schmeichel is in, and Vijami Sinis-Slaslow, the goalkeeper of there being about, indeed very badly there, transfers out, who's all gone, lots of them. Oh, it's gone. That's a ban of riches. That's it. That's it. That's it. That's interesting. Lager Bielke, he'll be away from getting more of the baseball, Stephen Wales, may be away, but of course he's Scottish, so he takes that chance. Yeah, that's right. It's like European criteria, which have got to be mindful of, and I'd say there'll be two or three others of Celtic, because Celtic, not to the extent of the Rangers, but there's a lot of waste in that Celtic weekly, as well as well. Sure. Lager Bielke, probably on his way, coming in for a second. They need a centre back, don't they? If you look at positions, you always think that if you look at the club, if you look at Celtic, you say, have they got the best possible player in that position? You've been being realistic, so go keep that yes, right? But yeah, left set the half, needs upgraded. Stryker position needs upgraded, whether you'll find better than cool, but I'd add a meter, and I always give up. They need to bring someday with that, and I still think they might be looking at it, and I know Coons are a lot of praise for pre-season, and I still get Maeda, and Palmas are the better praise, but I still think they could upgrade in the way they ripple with its left hand side or right hand side. So I think a centre forward, a proper centre forward, and another backup, a proper winger, a left-back to challenge Greg Taylor. I think you'll do better than Greg Taylor, I've been perfectly honest, but a better left centre half than what they've got in the building at the moment, going to get somebody proper for that position. Barry, you're listening to Mark there, I think, would you agree? You'd expect another central defender for Celtic to be alongside Cardiff. Yeah, and I always say, Paul, and I'm sure you'll agree with me, I think the spine of the team's got to be the strongest. It's the strongest part, and if you look at, obviously, I'll take the replaced jaw with, in my opinion, another outstanding goalkeeper. I think they'll look to strengthen certainly. At centre back here, I still think they'll look to strengthen the middle of the pitch, because obviously you've got the three real strong ones, and they're the McGregor attack in the rally. I think one of them will leave, I'm talking about his attack in the rally, I know there's talking Bernardo coming back from Ben Ficher, but I still think they'll add another one in there, and obviously up top, I still think they'll look to strengthen there, and certainly in the wide areas as well, I think that's somewhere there. I think they need to look to see if they could get better. Looks as though Bernardo will sign direct him, Bernardo. Yeah, to be fair, I thought he'd come on. It wasn't always a certain starter. No. If you're talking about that kind of money, what were they talking for, a million pound? Bit of a four, yeah. You'd expect if you're spending that kind of money that you're coming straight in and playing, we can week out. Look, I think he's a good player. I do. There's no doubt he certainly impressed when he played with Celtic, but he might be wanting a slow bottom of it. He walked on him and then obviously having that experience of being at Celtic, coming back this season, you could see a real strong Bernardo who's going to play. We can week out Mark in the Cup final Bernardo and Eda played their way into permanent deals, potentially with that winning goal late in the game. So Bernardo for you, yeah? Yeah, yeah. I would get him saying I think it would be. And for Brendan Rogers and his staff, Paul, they would hate to put a year's work in. We haven't think of got him as a really raw boy, tournament player who's come on and made an impact against Rangers, played in Europe, played his part off the bench in the Cup final. They take note, he'll get the chance to then go and try and take that on a stage again. And Bernardo's well, getting a taste of playing in front of 60,000 fans every other week, jump his league football. He'd be desperate for a deal to go over the line to see the one that I think a big man up top either. I think there's major progression in him. I mean, I liked him. A big strong boy knows where the back of the net is. I think that's still improvement to go for him. And I can see why Norrieger wanting decent money from because in time, I think he could be a right top striker. I don't know what I generally wrote in Norrieger. Look, I've not kept an eye on it every day. It's going up every day. But I would say, I don't know. But if not, let's say Norrieger, we'll do business at seven, seven and a half million. I'd pay that for either. Yeah. I mean, he's listening. He's big, he's strong, he's powerful. He knows what he does, he has the hardest thing, knows what the back of the net is. But I don't think it impressed me when I watched him as he's work ethic. He was a real team player. So I'm surprised it's out at a ready of no get that deal done. Because listen, he's had the experience, he's been up here for the six months. He knows obviously what the clubs are all about and obviously the pressures that you're under. And I can see why Norrieger wanting upwards of six million pounds from him. That rally, obviously, is the one that's wanted, Mark, big time. We wouldn't be surprised if he goes. Do you think more clubs might come in from England, for example, from Manchester, really? Yeah. They could do polls. I mean, what will be the cases now? Every club in Europe and down south will have the list of the number one tag that's known, not everybody can get your preferred tag. So eventually, Matt and Rayleigh will appear, and be further down and a list. So I would say it's 90%. For me, it's 90%. He's away. I think Celty will get, and I don't know, again, I don't know what the fears are looking for. If it's there, they can't see somebody paying 30 million for Matt and Rayleigh. 20, I think Celty will get 20 comfortably for him with add-ons and stuff. One minute remaining, Barry, you'll be back on Wednesday, Mark. You're back in later in the week. Friday, Friday, Paul. Good. Barry, what do you feel? So you were there with the manager. People did want to know, what did he say? You haven't given that away, but we heard from the chairman saying he's all in. Well, what I got for that was he was driving still. Yeah. They do. When you said that for Rangers and listening to the chairman, and he's in it, a view there on YouTube has said that the manager's all in, and that's what I would expect from Philip Clement. And in terms of the chairman, take your hat off to him, coming out, been honest, noting. That's what supporters want, the guys who spend a lot of money to go and watch that team. Thank you, Barry. We'll see you again on Wednesday. Thank you, Mark, and the headliners, Rangers. It might be completed by the end of September, but maybe not. I think it's unlikely. That's the aspiration, but I think that's just a wee bit, wee bit optimistic. Jokel Day is next. We're here tomorrow night at five with John Hartson and Craig Moore. Enjoy the rest of the evening.
