Scartish tubes and fittings are the go to guys for pipe work fabrication and supplies whether it's copper steel galvanized you need stainless steel or UPVC the new cab design boilers pumps valves and gauges 27 years they've been in this game exceptional through the ages did you know Scottish tubes and fittings are open seven days a week called Glasgow six four seven five thousand the gory do you football show with Scottish tubes and fittings pipes fittings and valves for every application including water oil steam and gas group A in the euros 2024 finish Scotland on just one point hungry on three Switzerland on five Germany on seven how you feeling how is the hangover it's all over as the tartan army trudge home but actually they were absolutely brilliant what about your team last night what happened 99 minutes in and we were still in it but then the last minute goal last touch of the ball virtually it's hungry who were one goal vitreous mark we do is here oh 808 17 17 700 you can call him now and the former Scotland captain one of the greats Barry Ferguson Barry what do you make of it yesterday we're out very disappointed Paul I'm I'm been honest that I want to see his have a bit I go hungry and being truthful I thought they were there for a take I've been honest with you look they've got some good players there's no doubt about that but I just wanted to see a bit more for the Scotland team because I do think we have got players that can can hurt teams but not have a shot on target Paul when you have to go out and when I when I gave me football was really disappointing and the way we finished it I last maybe ten minutes so the 90 minutes and obviously the 10 minutes extra time that's what I wanted to see for the get-go and so well I understand Scotland they set up to play a certain way and I totally respect that but when you're you're gonna get the last game of the group stages knowing that you have to get that vital win you have a chance again through I just wanted to see a bit more about us and unfortunately that didn't harm Scotland's number one pundit is here Mark Guere we built it up beforehand we didn't get kind away with Stephen again last night but did you think we were gonna do it we were still we're still in it with seconds to go yeah I did think Paul I thought I thought we were going away in the long when I was not a bit concerned about the lack of quality and the lack of chances that we created maybe not so much to jam the game because they call it in but certainly the Switzer gave you even though we get the point you know the Switzer goal is no really had a safety make and we were gonna be a bit fortunate with the goal and but last night I just thought Paul we were far too cautious you know we really were we had to create more that it needed players when we spoke last night but some day for example let our regimes for us to can eliminate defenders can actually dribble make that you know it was just it was too cautious and for me and I know we opened up with ten minutes to go within the ten minutes of stoppage time you know it was a bit of disarray to be honest we were all as much as we were attacking we were all over the place and we could chance to grant Hanley yeah it was but we could have considered more party bonus you know when you look at it so deflated to be honest the mood of the nation is one of deflation can totally understand it's deep clap the players and we just when they good enough in the end Paul we just didn't do enough in the final third we were too cautious last night did you expect more changes earlier buddy yeah did in terms of the substitutions getting made the last 15 minutes of the game obviously and I'm strong in channeling come on I was thinking to myself at half time watching it I thought they would have come out with the same team but after maybe 55 60 minutes I thought it was still the same part that was happening in the first half I expected the changes to be made up a bit earlier and so yeah that that kind of disappointed me but because I did think Shankland and Armstrong made a difference and you've seen me obviously Armstrong he's one of the players it just takes off and gets beyond and defenses and center forwards and obviously they penalty and decision it went out against this that was down to Stuart Armstrong just taking off and gambling which we never seen McDormand and McGin doing enough of and a game last night so yeah but I did expect the changes to me to be made a bit earlier than the did and obviously you had the trio of substitutions coming on we seven minutes to go the they sorted the 90 minutes crystal make learning and Morgan and so yeah I would have liked to have seen them getting made not bit earlier because I think it would have made a difference because you've seen the difference in the last as me and Max just mentioned the last 10 minutes of the 90 and the 10 minutes extra time at least people have no going we were getting bodies forward. Mark shall we start on the penalty this is what the manager was asked afterwards what he felt. 100% penalty somebody somewhere has to explain to me why that's not a penalty it's 100% and like I said there's a one-go game we get the penalty can be a different night I've got other words but I'm not going to use them. And Mike Dean former top English referee he agrees. Yeah I was a bit surprised if I'm being honest with you there was a bit of a tangle of upper body to start with but it's a clear it's a clear foul it's a clear knee on the back of the coffin. I've been watching real time I thought the record was going to give a penalty it just felt penalty all day to everybody watching the game and I was just surprised it wasn't given and also even more surprised that the VR didn't get involved. Mark what did you feel? Yeah I thought it was I thought watching it live problems give it a daily penalty. I'm surprised that if he didn't give it then in the first replay I was focusing more on upper body I thought another day for his cold heart right because Armstrong to the retarget his jersey as well six or one half a dozen the other. Second replay of then clocked the knee clearly granted the back armstrong's calf which takes his balance away and then brings him brings him down so I can totally understand Steve Clark's anger at that he's every right to be angry and for far to miss that Paul is totally unacceptable. Now I know that far there's been a clear policy and guideline from UEFA for all via officials granted this tournament you know noting that pick like we see me doing Scotland England your referees are going to the screen seven eight times a game so I get that for certain instance but for that last night it's a it's a potential game changer was a place the last 16 on the line and for the Spanish official who was on VAR not till late the Argentinean referee was an absolute shocker and see if that's a massive nation Paul see if that's a layer Jamley or Spain on the receiving decision like that that VAR officials getting hauled up and he's probably getting sent home but not because it's Scotland with one of the smallest nations it's up to the SFA really going to take that on board and really go to UEFA and bang the drum but if that's one of the big nations in that tournament there's absolute up road because of that decision. Barry what would you say it was a disgraceful decision no doubt about it and you're taught as a young player Paul when you're going through get your body across which sure Armstrong's done really well there is a tangle but there's a clear knee in the back he's calf and when I'm sitting there I was 100% confident it was going to be given as a penalty look and in terms of the game we weren't great we never created our chances but look that's that's the opportunity you might have needed and then listen you gain a bit of confidence but the referee an absolute shocker a decision in VAR as well they've got a lot to answer for and and I do hope that the SFA do something about it and take it at that bit further. Why no VAR Stevie Clark just couldn't believe or understand it. European competition may have been better to have a European referee but we had European VAR and maybe the referee didn't see the the Chinese clearly on the pitch what's the purpose of VAR if they're not going to come in and something like that was a penalty. And do you understand Barry what he meant by that it's a European competition there's a sort of style I know there's different styles within Europe but he did wonder why it was a referee from out way. That's not I don't care if it's out with other different styles or whatever it's apparently I don't know why the referee hasn't seen it in the first place and if he's not seen it he's been blocked or whatever, surely VAR can see it. That's a clear penalty and my eyes and I can understand Steve Klatt's anger and frustration. O8, O8, 17, 17, 700 I agree exactly with what both of you said though we should have been better though. We were slow we I don't think could they believe that we we just didn't really press them at any pace in the whole of the first half mark with no shots, nothing target. It was it was flat with all the ball because Hungary had a clear policy of just allowing any of our three central defenders to get the ball they tippy-tap it back and forward three four-yard passes to approach the hard halfway line and they're still sitting off there and then someday we trigger a press and they would go eventually but they're allowing us possession but they're almost trying to drop deep to come and get the ball fairly hungry they they called it right and that's where we something like that you need a proper outlet in the wide area for me you do you know and I agree with the substitutions as I said I would have ordered for James Forris involved at some stage but they were made too late for me because he would tell we needed something different what's the happening what's the happening in the wide areas and we needed something different we needed better support more help to see Adams I really felt for him you know over the games that he played this just like you know he said nothing I don't think he said this short-and-go and the three games is as I mean strike her but when you assess the three games over all Paul you're lucky for five shots yeah three games I mean the Switzerland goalkeeper's not a dis-saved teammate last night isn't it I'm not gearing yeah I think we haven't maybe been to Hanford yeah when gearing you know that was had one save to to make what we eighty five minutes and the clock it just wasn't a good enough and you and you can't expect the progression tournaments when you when you look at the stats he's the manager his assessment of the game give everything I don't think you can fault the effort was a very tough game good opponent very close game was always going to be decided by the first go you could tell that after half an hour unfortunately for us when we opened up towards the end of the game to try and chase the win that we felt we needed to get to the next stage we got caught encounter and we'll lose the game one now but I don't think there was anything between the two teams Larry could you tell it was going to be a one goal victory for either team yeah well that that was the way it was look when I was watching it Paul listen I agree with Steve Klatt you can't deny the efforts here for the players but there's no doubt we just need to come up we had different scenario in terms of how we may be approach games and going forward and look I get like sometimes in the first half of the game you're a bit more cautious I get that but I was thinking I have time to myself right you know what I think there's a different Scotland going to come out in the same half and if it still continues the same way for the first 10 15 minutes then I thought you would maybe have changed it because I do think sure I'm strong and and Shanklin did make a difference but I would have kept she Adams on as well up there because one thing about my I do feel for she Adams he what's he's backside off just don't see him in the box and off because I think that's made sound stupid I think it does too much work he's a real team player you see him out in a touchline blocking balls forward or whatever I'd just have liked I've seen maybe Alon's coming on alongside she Adams and obviously Stuart Armstrong coming in and getting beyond because that's Stuart Armstrong's gaming you see the difference that he did make in the short period of time that he was on and in terms of getting the ball I thought with a lot of nice possession the only kind of player I seen was Billy Gilmour when he got the ball he was trying to feed it that 10 15 yards forward into spaces and I needed more of that from all the players so a lot of good possession but a lot of possession it just wasn't a doing anything for the team it was just possession for the second possession and I wanted to see a bit more aggression and and certainly in the middle third in the final third the pitch the manager was asked about the lack of goals not for us I think it's very difficult to sit here and analyze and understand why he's asking the questions but sometimes after a defeat like that you need a little bit of time just to digest everything and and work out how the game went why the game went that way like I said we had a lot of the ball but we didn't probably create enough but we did create enough chances to score a goal that's clear so is that why we went out the tournament well we scored two goals this time won't let's go to one the last time now is something for me to go away and think about speaking my coaches and and try and work on something going into the future as to how we can score more goals at certain times in games yeah for sure yeah look that tells me that he knows that he has to go away and maybe come up with a different scenario in terms of the way that he's going to play going forward and and the future games but again I'm disappointed the last night but then I think back to 2019 where we were is a national team and he has made a hell of a difference Steve Clark there's no doubt about it it's served is really well this way plane but now I think he realizes maybe he needs to go away digests it speak to his coaching staff and I do think looking forward after the when the next end of national games come up I think you might see a different tactical switch whether that's personnel or formation wise yeah and but you've got to remember the difference since he's come in he has made a difference Steve Clark Donald's been on the socials already and he's asking both you is he the man to take us forward you know people are already saying David Moyes or whatever is that not unfair given the fact it's he's brought us to two tournaments in succession yeah I mean first of all I support Steve Clark I can understand fans and other media asking questions of course you've got to dissect it and you know he's he's realized himself he's pinpointed a couple of things that could have been better I'd put it this way two things I don't think the SFA will sack him we'll ask him to go he's under contract for the next campaign and understand that and that wouldn't be a problem for me for Steve Clark to stay on my body says you know where we were five years ago doesn't make you say it's perfect it should have been better we should have been able to get through last night we should have something different up our sleeve but we didn't would Steve Clark go away contemplate it speak to his family if he wants to initiate a conversation with SFA then that's entirely him up to him that that's his goal but I don't think you'll be sacked but yeah leave it that for the moment Barry Steve Clark is the man to take us forward yeah I believe so and just listening to that clip you played this minute or so ago Paul he understands that this is a time for how many coaching staff to go away take a break but I'm sure you'll go back and look at the last three games in the euros and also the games before that previous because obviously we had a few after results and I'm sure you'll come back hungrier than other and come up with a different way playing and because we have I keep saying when you when you look at the team in Berlin mine the players are missing you've given to you on the missing huge loss you've get I'm hickey huge loss I know the defenders but the big players did the really good players going forward as well and so look I still look at that squad and I still think we've got really good players and I still think Steve Clark is a right man he he take his forward and I do honestly believe the next games that you next round these Scotland games I think you will see a different Scotland terms of the setup Reagan is that what you feel big Scotland fan on the line good evening Reagan Paul, thank you for having me on good to hear you I was listening to you guys yesterday it was good it was great to have you on but I want to be person Steve Clark because I think Steve Clark has been a fantastic job for him he's doing he's done a great job but I think he's took it as far as I can and you know I just feel like he's he's the man that goes to major tournaments and he's done really well but I think that just comes a point where both will be very happier like I just feel like I was watching the the TV last thing I'm thinking David Moyes would be absolutely perfect for Scotland I know Mark knows David Moyes and I don't know if he's got opinion but I just feel like David Moyes would be the perfect person for Scotland all right let's throw that to Mark then Mark what do you feel a lot of stuff I can understand Regan's point again I know a lot of fans will see him I bet it's time for change I totally get that I don't really look David Moyes is a fantastic manager there's no doubt a bit but Steve Clark has just got this to meet your finals but all feeling really disappointed and he's still a man and a job it's less than 24 hours since we crashed out I don't think it's fair to be talking about that and I don't think it's a conversation that David Moyes would become I know he's been asked about it and the beeping stuff like that but over the piece Steve Clark's a man in possession and I just want to personally respect that and because he's he's I don't want to see that he's beyond criticism because there's a few things that will that will say between now and 7 o'clock but in terms of David Moyes he's a fantastic manager and I do think that David Moyes will manage Scotland one day I've absolutely no doubt about that could be obese and next man after Steve Clark whenever Steve decides to call it a day or the SFA they say to call it a day with Steve but right now I want to be the spare for what he was Steve Clark yeah I think I think he deserves to take his into the qualification and stages of the World Cup for 2026 I get Matt Marx just summed it up perfectly everybody's feeling it we're all low but disappointed certainly with the performance last night but I think if you sit back and take a breath he has done a fantastic job and I still think this I think I still think Steve Clark is the guy you take his forward in terms of David Moyes I mean he's your obvious choice he's at a job now I think that happens but I think you've got you with respect for you Steve Clark who's in a job and as I said you think but the way we were when he first come in I think he's done an excellent job Steve Clark and I think he will be in charge for the qualification stages of the World Cup yeah definitely around the dressing room it's full of experience I'm sure in the next year or two probably a few younger players should be added to the squad that's just what happens in international football you need to keep freshen up yeah Steve Clark's been the man that's managed to get us here twice brought belief to the nation again and I'm sure he can continue to do that yep in terms of listening I think you come in and done a good job last night and place of obviously Keanu who I've said is playing at times Paul massive loss last night Keanu Keanu but I think Scott McKenna come in and then played really well I noticed I were getting to the end of the season we faded up here Gary are we fed it up yeah yeah we are fed it up man Mike's packed in last show last show of the current season I don't know if that's how good that up I say yeah good thing I've had to change exactly I know 20 years coming probably so Gary's worth us make sure we're up as well March Mike up as well Reagan what you doing to us so yeah we do agree I listen there's a lot of people saying it is time for a change he's got his own view as well he's the kind of guy yes stubborn he's got a great record but we didn't go through and we thought we would we would last night Reagan thanks a million for your call oh 808 17 17 700 Barry Ferguson is here you can only hear him here Mark Goody as well we're going to take more calls after this break the gory do your football show with Scottish tubes and fittings Scotland's independent pipe work supplier and fabricator gory your football show Paul Cooney Barry Ferguson and mark greedy we're going to take your calls now first on the line oh thank you Reagan for the call is Gary on from the gorgos hi Gary even Paul he's engaged yeah good are you good with that electronics and stuff and you're in the gorgos you could fix this for us something's happened in the studio but young Danny's doing really well he's doing a bit of damage you reckon yeah so what are you feeling after last night we're out the jet did and got up to be honest then I don't think I was in German in a I just feel like the fans deserve better than what we got you know the fans came over in the drugs you know hundreds of thousands of fans went over and the Germans absolutely you know they didn't want us to go home I just think it's I know I know it's kind of it's still growing it's still emotional when things are and you know there's a lot of people coming on and saying it's time for Steve Clarke to go in on ultimately I think it is unfortunate because I think they bottled it yet again the last the last euro's tournament I came there gave him about a slight because it was a first tournament since 96 or first World Cup since 98 but I think this time we really should have went to compete and I feel like we're just bolder I feel like clock tactics these substitutions it just don't get anything right well that's a lot there Mark gonna throw that to you first what would you say that he or the team together bottled it and never quite like saying that people bought a baller manager bought a players bought out I mean the define bought on it because you don't win again there's basically you've bottled it so it's really hard to answer those kind of things and that is each that's leveled it players a lot you know and leveled it man so I'm not so sure what we can do is look at what is it good enough last night no wasn't who's responsible to managing the players so I can understand Scotland fans coming on here tonight and say you know I think it's time for a change I get that me personally I would stick with Steve Clarke I think he deserves it but I totally get what Gary's coming from absolutely there's no doubt about that because I thought we were too cautious last night I gave it a substitutions Barry said it tonight and as we all probably should have made a wee bit earlier be a bit sharper and you know try to mix things up but what he has Steve Clarke definitely has to be aware of Steve still in charge for September which I expect him to be I've got six nation league games Paul between September October November and we play Poland Portugal and Croatia six really tough games we can't afford not be winning any of those games Paul we can afford to be 1-1 in 16 1-1 in 17 1-1 in 18 you're then getting into the World Cup qualifiers in 2025 and actually it becomes real so for Steve Clarke it's important to get some good results in the next six games and what I would do Paul I would experiment to a certain degree in those six games and in the labour level of understanding from the Tat Nami and from the SFA but Barry said it tonight I think we can all see it as well as we need to be able to like that the flick of a switch go to your back four we can't be relying on the back three other team we needed to be different last night so see for the six games I would go for it and try a back four so for me a back four Aaron Hiccup right back please air for brain for these brilliant Andy Robertson speaks for sale Kian Tierney a base set of half Finkian Tierney's best partner and go way back four John McGinn can play wide right that's what he does for Aston Villa whether it be McTormany Gilman the middle Callum McGregor the middle whether it may be and then look at a four four one one four five one just find something different because we normally go to back three do we have three outstanding center halves do we play in our back three I don't think we do do we have two outstanding fillbacks we do adding Hickey and Andy Robertson that's the way I would go about it for the next six games for the the nation's league Barry what do you feel I think the six games that Mark's mentioned Portugal Croatia and Poland I think you'll see them experimenting with different formations and an ally might mark some idea I think we have get the players to go we are back for and you just dreamed off the amount of midfielders there the quality that's in that midfield John McGinn that's what he plays with Aston Villa and he looked very comfortable on that right side and the only thing is is what would you do up top who do you play up top you've got Lyndon Dyches who has obviously been injured for this year you've got she Adams who I know a lot of people are going to know but one thing you can't label against the guys he runs yourself into the ground obviously you've got Lon Chantland who has the out now goalscore so I think in these games that are going to be coming up in September October November I think you will see Steve Clark still being in charge but going into their games and trying different formations obviously different for the back three or back five that he has been playing since basically he's coming in the job but for me I think you've got to strip it all back and just look at the overall difference he has made to this Scotland team and I get everybody's angry frustrated and disappointed we are in here but I still believe that Steve Clark has or will take us forward for this next campaign it's just a bit too cautious maybe buddy yeah but yeah you played you played the club five or so minutes ago and I think now he kind of understands when he'll have to go away and digest and these last three games speak to his coaching staff and I think you've also had different Scotland team in terms of setup when you go into these games the nation link game sorry should I say in September October November Gary do you feel reassured there by Mark and Barry I certainly took a bit from that he is going to have to change things and he did say during the campaign and some of the friendly trip we've learned from it but people are saying have we really learned from it we didn't make the change mid-game after 60 minutes Gary what do you feel yeah but they're saying it is obviously and why did why did they not why did they not then be brave for these three games you know we he's done fantastic we're able to get is to the last two European championships the first time since playing ground but you know why not just go then I'm not saying gongho and and throw on so many attacks I never go it splits under hunger because we're never going to get anything off of Germany but I just think I don't get why he's now saying oh we'll take the next three games I want to take next few games and we'll move things around will be brave like be brave at the finals like if you if you lose three games and you're going for it and you're trying to win games I mean you look at the you know I know Mark's in doesn't like use using the word botlet but you know wait wait 20 minutes to go in the Switzerland game forest in Conway or Shankland in Conway should have been on the part and wish they went for it because Switzerland scored obviously in the goal was disallowed that would have been out out before the hunger again yeah and then when you look at the hunger again it doesn't make a sub 15 minutes they go in it's the same thing it's killing me clean and then you know he's putting on the wrong subs can I think James Boris there's a big fan fair with James for us going and he helped the future so yeah I was calling for James for us to play yes yeah but I mean I certainly certain at halftime as I mentioned before I thought it would have been 10 15 minutes marks moment I would have made the changes and I was very surprised that I never seen James for us I thought that was a game that would have suited them I thought they were for the taking of a bonus hungry of good players but defence I thought they were suspect at times and bringing she Adams off putting lawns Shankland on I would have maybe just says right do you know what keep me two of them on and then bringing James for us to we all know how we finished the season off and absolute flying the last month and so I'm sure we'll go when they would adjust that and probably maybe regret that you never made some of the changes but I was surprised last night I was kind of expected expecting it so I should have said 55 60 minutes but we waited to as Gary mentioned there the last 15 minutes to make the first two changes I'll tell you he didn't make any excuses though about the injuries and he could have over the campaign he was asked about you know the hickies and Mendoc even the fact that he'd lost Kevin Tierney I never speak about injuries it's it's my default maybe when we go away maybe when we sit down over a cut my coffee and three or four weeks time or whenever it is maybe then we can discuss the impact the people that weren't here I'd much rather just beside with the people that are here it's more important to me at this moment in markets good that he doesn't use that as an excuse but that's there's a litany of players that could have would have been in that team. Oh you know I've talked about Aaron Hickey who you know it is a proper player you know it right back and if I had we had Aaron Hickey that would have given us a probably a proper option to go to a back four so yeah but we did miss him was no doubt Lyndon Dykes no doubt we did miss him Lewis Ferguson we don't think Lewis would have started but certainly really good option coming off the bench for for Scott and we didn't have came to you in the last night so above we've missed our we've missed a few about what's really important Paul and I know the nations league as they be on end all it's one of our safety blanket but I don't think we're going to get any play off with that group that we're in our next game is Poland at home at hand Thursday night September early September I think we need for Steve Clayton he did win that game we need to get out and win it we need to get a victory and stack that they have it following that four days later go to Portugal and so it's really important to beat Poland but in terms of him reflecting no excuses we were too cautious and for me if I'm going to my biggest surprise if you want to call my biggest bit of criticism towards Steve Clark would be that he didn't introduce James Forest now we'll have a reason for that and no doubt he'll explain it when he specifically asked about that but for me James Forest was a player that could have made a difference in the circumstances that we were involved in last night Gary who's going to win the tournament do you think I can really see past being a Portugal and I've been born in as long as England though we're not again in the final where I'll be happy but but no I think France sort of being in Portugal have really impressed that fans could come fans could come even rainbapping or scoring yet but yeah I'd say it wasn't German it was brilliant and the hosts like they were fantastic hosts and everybody had a ball but I'd say I just feel that that's a level because it's talking to you know after the Switzerland game and you know the fans were all walking back in a Cologne and we got we were singing they were singing John McGinn and Steve Clark's tournament I mean I thought that's the levels because England drew me Denmark and you would have thought about the tournament I know so it's great you were there Gary it must have been really special and the fans are the story aren't they for us which is not I mean we love the fact they were well behaved of course we do yeah but we'd love the story to be as well that we've progressed or we gave it everything last night and they did give it everything but it's tactically maybe we didn't get it right we should have we should have gone for it earlier because we went for it at the end Grant Hanley came so close and I know we should add a penalty but yeah we could have and that's the thing that annoys me as well about Steve Clark you know he's in the end of year and he's running and raving about the referee being Argentinian I didn't hear him mention the referee before the game so the fact that he's mentioned him after the game and his nationality it makes no difference to me it's a stone open I do not know why it doesn't go to the year you know it's but get carried there's tactics involved in terms of why he doesn't mention because you'll not know the referee you'll be aware that his Argentinian which would be a surprise but what is it what you do yeah question your first decision and all of us yeah that's in telling referee go is that right yeah get out of the game so that's why you don't get that good news today is the Barnabas Varga who of course was down and out for what seven eight nine minutes he's in a stable condition today in hospital he had successful surgery after that clash with the accidental clash of course Angus Gunn was there but he was a it was a horrible moment wasn't it we all thought about Christian Erickson yeah it was a worrying situation you see the medical staff coming on with the the toes and covers and covered and then you're thinking that the worst but thankfully as you just mentioned there he's stable he's had this surgery and hopefully he makes a full recovery Mark who is gonna win the tournament before Gary goes what would you say yeah back to Spain before I was a good value bet for Spain but still early sometimes you can peak too soon but I think I think it's wide open but yes Spain's good a chance as anyone sadly it's not going to be Scotland Barry you said England I mean yeah the thing is yeah but they could still yeah I mean they could still progress but yeah I think they've all progressed but I'm fancy I'm going Germany are you okay home nation yeah going for the Germans it's a good team Germany a lot of the way we call it throughout but so is France England Spain Portugal's a good shout as well you're looking at Portuguese team you've got some qualities as Gary mentioned so yeah but I think it's wide open but it's from any what five or six teams I think in one in Gary of course Germany scoring right at the end so they went back to the top of our section Focrugg what a player he is and he doesn't even start for them it's phenomenal he's going to have to start for them isn't he in the last 60 yeah Gary you were there I'm tartan army sorry on you go yeah no I was just going to see I'm laughing at the English media you know fighting Kane and saying he should be dropped I'll tell you you are politic I'm sure it had a you can't say be honest Harry McCain surely let's get him across yeah they're pretty harsh aren't they but the thing is they go in and say we think we're going to win it football's coming home they did it and it's only down from there but you never know Gary was your final memory then of the Euro is 2024 from a Scotland point of view as a fan when a plenty of sunshine plenty of beer meeting meeting people from all over the world part in with the German part in with the talks in the Spanish and just doing what Scotland fans doing as a saying I'm just I'm gutting for the fans most of the cause as I say the fans walked away from stadium and I've watched in a few years and I said no we'll be sad for a few days and we'll be fine I'm like you shouldn't feel that because we've now been into euros we should we should have came here to compete and I don't believe that we did with a good chance didn't we Mark because Hungary weren't as good as we thought in the build-up last night even we were saying this is going to be tough against Hungary but they were there for the taking the way I would say that it would take you know we'd have to have played better than what we did against Switzerland and I remember that by actually creating more chances because we did get a fortuitous goal let's be honest against a Switzerland with Tommy's short so we had to be better in the final third than the way they're in them and the game kicks off you think oh right okay so Hungary were happy to kind of sit back and allow Scotland to have the ball which was actually a tactic for Marco Rossi so we should have been better last night Paul and if you want to pull the S2 Norcouteses as we've now found out you need to be better than what we were Barry for you I just thinking of looking at watching a game last night they were just there for the beating Hungary in my opinion yep they're a good team but I just thought we have we just showed a bit more just decided to go now attack them and I think we could have beat them certainly last night we performed the way we did the last 10 minutes and the last 10 minutes extra time of way maybe of I get Steve Klatt maybe starting off cautious in the first half I've been in teams when that is the game plan we make sure we command no conceding a goal you're setting half then you're let off her ends of me but I just thought that would have maybe been the case last night with a with a Scotland team but unfortunately it wasn't David is in Gary will speech your next season thanks very much quick break and then we're back the Gordio football show with Scottish tubes and fittings proudly serving Scotland for 27 years open 70s Gordio football show Paul Cooney with the friends at Scottish tubes and fittings who've been with us throughout the euros as far as Scotland's concerned market seems pretty early for us to exit but the tartan army heading home and the team heading home today I mean they gave everything and we know that here as well hindsight is an exact science we all know but I think everyone we see the comments coming in from people is that we should be I don't know if the words braver a bit more adventurous take a risk yeah yeah I think we'll be a bit too cautious at certain stages last night there's no place in a second here you know having a you know dissecting a national manager and being critical of them but I understand that's that's a gig when you don't get through but absolutely a hundred percent effort a hundred percent commitment and I did really you know as watch the pictures and sky sports a day the team bus leaving and Steve coming out the players coming out and all the members of staff it's pretty sad because I do feel Paul working home too soon I think there's been times I've crashed out of 200 I think we do what we really do this year to go the other things are mild bet as in us and we're just not but I thought our team over squad was good enough to get out of that group and particularly as in like coming down to going one in the game last night with our goal is out and everybody been such a high that you know you know looking forward to everyone going to get maybe Saturday Sunday and Monday next week it's just it is really sad that we're that we're out after 12 days too good to come home too early yeah I've I've got a feeling if you look at the Swiss and the Hungarians are they mayo's bet on this I don't think they are I just don't think we performed the way we can and obviously I would have liked to have seen is be a bit more adventurous just go for them yesterday because I did think after the first half that they were there for the taking I thought defensively they weren't the best and the Hungarians so yeah that's why I'm disappointed because I do a thing even with the injuries to Kean Ternet to Ann Hickey to Lyndon Dykes even Ben Dook I know he's not played a game for Scotland but I just felt we've still had that group of players that were capable of it anymore but unfortunately it's no work that way but I'm sure they'll go away they'll go recharge their batteries and they'll come back for the the nation's league games ready to go improve a lot of people wrong Michael's on the line greeny Michael hey good evening guys how you doing okay yeah we're good disappointed what you thinking very disappointed because I don't rate cheat cheat to your items whatever you call him he is an absolute he's rotten by the way it's not I got a Michael come on don't you really pay place for South Bank it is no a striker we missed it Lyndon Dykes right Tory Ralston I can't believe that he got a four-year contract at Celtic and we've got a play with that cavalry player and champions we expect but Nah Liam scales is another one right but aren't you Scotland I thought Scotland would have done it last night but this shows no heart nothing in the first half the game is born as anything and it was a boring game I think it would agree on that one yeah Michael I know you're a Celtic fan as well so you mentioned Liam scales do you not feel we're Tony Ross and though that he absolutely gives everything buddy what did you think? No he couldn't he caught that ball never made them so yeah well do you know what Emmer up my estimations in terms of the mistake he made against this Swiss it was easy for him to go unfold he certainly didn't but I get what the call was coming from let his final ball sometimes does let him down at times but I think he'd done pretty well Tony Ralston never had been honest with you because he's got a choice remember he's behind on hockey who for me as a superstar in terms of how good he is Nathan Paterson was the next in line obviously get the injury and Tony Ralston's come in played what six games this season and I think you come in and equate it yourself as best as he could and I've got a bonus what I thought he did I find Joe Mark nobody saying he's Roberto Carlos nobody did there's a reason he played six games that sell to this season but he gives everything and what about his assessment apart from look we know a bit ago against Switzerland we know that what did you feel? He never had you know he never had Paul he made a contribution he played every minute of every game so clearly there was a trustee of the manager and he's not her first choice right back we've got to take that into account did he give the best that he was capable of probably and that's all that's all you can you can ask for and in terms of Michael's other comics we don't know he's coming from but he's been you've been very very unfair I mean we certainly had had you know we've played by heart and just because you don't win again doesn't we see a no trying you know don't do that no heart you know just sometimes just a wee bit of lack of a of quality Michael one thing about the Scotland team you can't they give it everything let's be honest they do sometimes the quality is no there and that's what disappointed at time but in terms of that effort for the country every player it goes on that pitch for me so it's blood they give it the the best shot and that's all you can ask for but look again I just think everybody's frustrated angry disappointed whatever way you want to put it just way obviously because I think there was a real opportunity for the for the year last night against a good Hungarian team no up very good that a top team in my Michael we do value the calls are you getting sick are you in Liverpool just now you're in the Merseyside area I'm in Liverpool but what bad Barry has seen yeah I think that like Scotland so many good players believe Elmo you know and we missed the mistake here in the other way and you got injured. Aaron Hecke did me half a me down one didn't die and like the guys I was saying like Mark and you and Paul went out and Scotland can't play but I don't think I was in the qualifiers but we're absolutely mad to beat Spain and that's what it's disappointing to make you know I mean because I've I was Scotland today so we all because all the fans were magic in Germany we're getting good praise for the German government and the people in Germany you know I mean it's just it makes you proud to be Scottish to be honest because we'll keep you getting all the good the good praise and the Scotland fans were absolutely this world with a bad price and order yeah Mark have we gone back a bit though in that compared to everywhere when we played Norway we played Spain the first time. Mark yeah I think when you look at the performance against Spain Paul was obviously it was a special special night and everybody was buying on it to go and beat Spain to now to then you know lose the first go in Norway, squarely equaliser and then have the drive to go on and then you know get a win in gold and they're special nights and that was I think that's part of the overall frustration is as Michael said because we know that that's the level that we were capable of and unfortunately we didn't reach those heights in the three games another thing is real Paul with a benefit of hindsight you chase it right back and I know it's getting all bearing on actually our performance last night against Hungary but that was a real killer that moment against Germany when Ryan Portis gets a dead card and we can see the penalty so we are potentially getting it 2-0-11-11 and as we said a one-goal defeated Germany wouldn't have been that bad but with an updated 10-men because of the silly tackle and then we then concede a five goals that changes your whole dynamic Paul of how you approach the rest of the tournament as well because you know you know you're going to struggle. I think so that was unfortunate too but that said this should have been better last night. Michael thanks for your call Barry should we have tried to just see the game out then to go for the nil nil. No no I thought I think we were good enough Paul players we have good enough players should I say to just go and have a right go to them I understand as I mentioned previous understand where do you go and you be a bit cautious in the first half but I just thought looking at the game looking at Hungary they didn't really offer me too much I wasn't really concerned about them and I just thought I would have seen a different Scotland team in the second half so that's what that's what frustrates me but as I said I'm sure Steve Klatt and the coaching staff and also the players go away they would reflect and I think that I would like to think they will learn a lot from this tournament. Is that one of the worst feelings Barry when you know as a team and they're great band of brothers we know that they think we should have done better. Yeah I think that would disappoint them because I'm sure they would have been and it has turned them in high expectations to get out the group and be the first Scotland team to do that and I thought that there was a huge opportunity for them that they missed and that's what they were away and their holidays with a family or friends or whatever and that's what I think it'll be playing in their minds and really disappointing them and same with Steve Klatt and he's coaching staff but it's how you react to this now. What you see Scotland come out of these games in September. You said it's the first game September. What you see is come out and take a frustration out in Poland, Mark because there's a hard way to finish the season because look I know that we all played and all the rest of it but it's a national game we absolutely love it everyone's talking about it Scotland whether it's good or bad and yet they're going into the summer break now and they deserve it but just with that feeling maybe we should still be there. Yeah I think it's an opportunity Miss Paul you know as a players we'd have been in the hotel last night having a beer and no good dad I mean celebrating but they've had a beer they'll sit back they'll be a lot of mixing and mingling the families with the players they'll sleep talking about tonight they'll be talking about the middle below but it's an opportunity. Miss me if I compare her I feel you know just as a Scotland fan and looking at the three games some Euro 20 stroke 21 last night I didn't feel the same disappointment as I feel now because I thought that Croatia wear a cut above us and they find I know we didn't play their potential check to put a good with a brilliant performance against England at Wembley but last night his body said several times I think we all feel that Hungary were there for the taking last night they really wear and I think that is last night to go and be hungry as it's good an opportunities we've had in a long long time to get into the knockout stages and make history. Barry you know the good thing has been a difficult first hour technically but I can see you two now because I can't see over the desk I can see you two so we'll try and get this working for the second half because I'm putting them off. One more hour of the show and then it's going to be the summer break more news shortly. In fact the news has come in next 08/08/17/17/1700 the go radio football show with Scottish tubes and fittings pipes fittings and valves for every application including water, oil, steam and gas. Scottish tubes and fittings are the go-to guys for pipe work fabrication and supplies whether it's copper steel or galvanized genie stainless steel or UPVC. The new cab design, boilers, pumps, valves and gauges 27 years have been in this game exceptional through the ages. Did you know Scottish tubes and fittings are open seven days a week called Glasgow 647 5000. The go radio football show with Scottish tubes and fittings Scotland's independent pipe work supplier and fabricator. Yeah it's coming home it's the flight with Scotland coming back I see they had a band out there marked playing for them as they got a great mark of respect for the players coming up looking pretty glum as you would expect because we didn't really think we were going to be going home. I mean I know yesterday everyone was saying well lots of people or a draw be enough but do you think a draw would it be enough last night? I thought we had to go out and win the game I don't know it's March Department and he's been able to say yeah where people are in the section or whatever but I don't think with that draw. I had to play for a win. I had to play that we mad this to go for a draw not they needed to go for the win. I don't think you can go as a team and play for a draw I've been honest with you maybe the last ten minutes when you're under the bitter pee that's when you're in certain games when I played Paul that's where you're happy to come out we are pointing but that was a game going into the final group stage game. Needn't they want to make sure you get the right good chance you're going through and as I said before I was confident we would be hungry during the first half I can understand but they're just taking half expected that we bit more and attacking wise from Scotland like we've done in the last 20 minutes of the game obviously the last 10 minutes and 90 minutes and obviously the 10 minutes of extra time. Captain Andy Robertson spoke afterwards said how disappointed he was they didn't expect to be coming back but they'd given it everyone he said we feel sorry for the fans who've given so much and for his teammates. Scott McKenna was speaking to us afterwards and to other media just wasn't our night is what he said. I'm not sure it's a bit difficult to try and think about that just now on the back it is getting put to a tournament I think that's one for the common days weeks and months to pick up on that but yeah just disappointed. He praised the fans but they thank every single one of them not just the ones that have been the stadium there's been thousands in every city that would be into and even the ones that have been back in Scotland supporting us from from a distance we want to try and make this happen so they can get one of these European trips again so thank you. Was that a penalty? I have to be honest I've not seen it back but I've heard a few people in the dressing room say that we maybe should have that's all I can see on that. Barry Ferguson says definitely so does Mark Goudy so straight after the game it's difficult his feelings. It's hard to put in towards I think this appointment to override and feeling we came here to win the game and try and prolong our time in the tournament not just for ourselves but also for the supporters but it wasn't meant to be tonight. Three games one point just two goals the manager knows we just didn't find to make enough chances. Was it one goal game? The first half is is what it was we dominated the ball we had enough of the ball we didn't create quite enough when it opened up a little bit towards the end we created chances we couldn't find the composure just to put the ball in the net. That's what we are that's the way we are it was always going to be a tough night against a good thing. Ross is on the line. Good evening Ross. I told Mark Barry about the grill guys. Yeah we're right. What are you thinking about last night? Do you know I agree that Barry's and Margaret it was apparently for me and why Bob didn't look at the penalty is beyond me and but I just think over the piece last night I don't think Scotland played well enough and I think we're waiting too long to go for it and I think for me Steve Clark got the tactic wrong for me last night I think I'm going to be well they are going to sniff that early dose and I think why he's not started to Shankland and she had him for me over the three games has me proved that he's any better than Lauren Shankland so why Shankland has not got a start I just I just think that baffling but last night for me I think Scotland Scotland is out we didn't I don't think we could be there enough to get through and to be honest and I think we are where we are and I think Steve Clark needs to take responsibility for that. Barry what would you say? Fair assessment. Yeah fair I've got you I agree with Ross says in terms of what Lauren Shankland like I was thinking before the game because you're always cross his mind what's going on who's going to start and I would have went away with Lauren's and the game look I've said it's plenty of times I think she had him's there's a terrific job in terms of his work rate outside the box but I want to see my number nine inside 18 yard box and that's what you get from a player like Lauren Shankland he has you are penalty box striker basically you're your poacher so I would have liked to have seen him been given the opportunity and I've mentioned obviously maybe change it up in the wing back area because obviously Steve Clark likes that formation I would like to have seen a James Forest because again before the game started I thought let's go for this let's go for it the Hungarians are there for me for that they're taking yep they've got good players but so we get good players and so I would have liked to have seen is be a bit more old and had a real pop at them because I do believe if we had a pop at them the way we ended the game I think we would have won it I do I believe we would have won it why did he bring on Lewis Morgan yeah I was surprised I thought maybe listen to Lewis Morgan's officer the good season the MLS and but I thought it was it could have been James Forest who come on because I've mentioned with previous the way that he finished off a season for Celtic very strong very confident and obviously would have got a massive lift we've no been underscored for what was it two years getting that opportunity so yep I was surprised that we didn't see him getting any minutes on the pitch and I thought the game as tight as it was coming at the end when we were opening up a bit to have a go at them that's when I James Forest certainly and the final third because every year Steve Clark yeah we had plenty of possession but when we get in that final third we never created anything and that's the thing that what obviously for the streets and that's a point Steve Clark but that's appointed me that we didn't make the defenders defend or the goalkeeper makes saves Mark yeah I think what Ross a lot of what Ross says there is spot on you know I said last night before the game I just wonder what can I change is it and we know he can attend to stick to who he trusts he's very loyal but I just thought more of a fatigue thing that maybe he might have started with Shankland because Adam did I know you only played for a half against you but you know the the shift that you put in against what I thought we just have a bit of freshness up there given that kind of lone striker role how tough it can be so that was the one area I thought but just overall again they said we never rattled a hungry thing but we never had them like really and the back foot and think oh I and had them pressed in and and sucked in and we'd have 11 guys you know and our 10 guys on our halfway line and they're half you know it just never it happened when you when you assess the 90 minutes over the PCA we should have had a penalty but they could have probably scored seagulls I mean I've missed I've missed two setters I've hit the post of scored we you know we never really get going so did we deserve to win did we do enough to win at that level given what was at stake no we didn't Ross as a Celtic fan you would see so much of James Forest in April and May Barry as a Rangers legend you wish he didn't see as much of them because he played a big part in in Celtics end of the season so people getting a bit misty eyed about James Forest thinking he could come back he did it for Scotland before or what's your feeling having seen him a lot and well I was I was on last week I think I spoke to you and before the sports one game when I was a big James Forest fan and as I say like I was all for for us getting game time but for me last night I thought it was a game that was ideal for him for this brings you once in the game and even at half time last night when it's now now you're sitting on that game thinking right you've got 45 minutes here let's just for this 45 minutes let's just go gung ho and afraid that wasn't to know we're going for it then fair enough but I go up to you like 70 minutes and then you're hanging yourself right he's binging on Shankland he's binging on Morgan and towards the last 50 minutes it became a bit about your basketball game they went for that we went for that and then you get also cut out in the soccer punch towards him but for me I think I think for Steve Clark I think the great you'll probably have is the fact that he waited far too long to go for it and it's came back and it's it's basically how it is and we're out now and but for me I agree with Barry I think I agree with the effort of taking me that I know towards the end they had the post and they looked the more convincing team that was going to score but they did any strike neither sort of team that were all over this and I think that was part of that game where we could have probably took the game then and we chose not to mark final thought for Ross there you know the manager did come in the first thing you talk about was the kundo tell the Argentine and he wasn't happy about the referee but you think part of him is angry himself that he maybe didn't make yeah yeah when he says it's all over the you know in the days to come and you know with a good play that way we staff needs a chance to sleep on it you'll probably you know because when you're making substitutions you'll be racing with things and you'll be like you should have put him on or should I put him on okay I'm going to put him on to put one in the right of the left I play him in behind there go you're back for rather than it may be so there's there's hundreds of we decisions that are to be made and things swelling and mine before you before you actually make the eventual division decision and all the substitutes both up depending what you go for but the world will be great there's got to be because I've not completed the job so you've got to have regret you've got to go they wish I'd done that differently whether I said I wish I brought James Forest on is one thing as well about what James Forest bring you because you look at some of the things when we get into the final third poll not just last night but you know the previous game again swits on this well but particularly last night we liked composure you know we really liked composure in the final third where you've just got to put your moment to play the passing I've just hold it up and we liked that we would be a bit panicky about one thing about James Forest because he's experienced you know look at what he's won what he's achieved he brings you composure and I think that we we lacked at and the final third even the subs that come on up our fresh they liked composure as well and yet Barry the midfield has been so crucial so experienced so talented yeah but what he does he brings you natural with he helps hugs a touchline but he's a ball carrier that's been James Forest as he will take you 30 40 yards he'll commit defenders and we don't have that kind that blue Andy Robertson doesn't know left side because he has like a wide player bit the right hand side and in Rawson's morning a defender when he gets into the final third and his nose listen there's no as good as James Forest in terms he's delivery and he's kind that James Forest will do we want to round the corner type things something different that could mix the Hungarian defense up probably but and that's why I thought it would that would have been ideal from the last maybe half hour of the game and then when he made the substitutions obviously it's 75 to 76 minutes I'm strong in Chantland I was thinking to myself why James Forest then there was obviously another three after that so yeah but that surprised me that he never got the minutes on the pitch because I do it like I'm not saying he would do it on and no and change the game in one is it but listen he would have he would have done a job on the Hungarian defense and gave them something different to come up against was anyone will be a bit surprised when Andy Robertson came off because he would still give you width down the left I don't know if it was a cat in some way okay there was a moment when I thought it was Armstrong a Christie of Jeremy Clean River it was out of the ball and the left hand side and you're way too right way as robots they should have been overlapping and that's don't like him not to do so and then I'm in it later you see him coming up but the other thing about something like James Forest would have done Paul he'd are livened us up yeah I think he'd even have energised a couple of times Calamiga's looking tired and actually he told me he's looking tired but I don't want to be a bit tired and that's totally understandable given the shift that they've put on the last night but over a season and I just think that James Forest aligned up because he can go doing the outside it can come in nothing is real that it does I mean I say that hundreds of times in the program you'll have a shorted goal you'll come and say they'll have a digging number nine going forward and if we spelt they go these spills it however but look it's all the benefit I'm saying Ross final thought from you yep nor I could even mark that area I think for me I have had to probably look to get for this one I'll be back earlier and I just say just for me Paul did a great for his last night is the fact that whenever I went for that a lot sooner than we did and I think we just left our salary but short and but you know what it's it's part and partial to game I suppose and I've had a couple of people saying that they think that Steve's maybe no the guy to go forward after bleeding Clark and I think he is the guy to take his forward and I think he won't I think he will learn from it but for us it's just a bit adequate to be honest it hung me over there for taking Paul and never took it yeah for sure one point it's hard to take Ross just before you go Joe Hart they did well didn't he on on the telly were you proud of your your former keeper I've got a reason for asking yeah no I definitely and it was good to see him progress in terms of what he's going to maybe do going forward but again it's just I mean but I regret the only going to be there and next season but you know what and as as well as and as I said towards the end of the season I still thought that Joe Hart could have probably done another season it is and but they move on from him and as I say hopefully in the next couple of weeks we get a keeper in and over linked to the creation goalkeeper and again have not heard it and substantial that he's going to come a little from Mark I didn't say that and to say that he's going to come in I'm not sure where that's going to be there don't think we know yet I've been doing the rounds but it's not going away so I think there is something in it yeah Ross thanks a million for your call speech in the new season cheers we're back at the towards the end of July and mark I was only teasing there you Scotland's number one pundit but he's our goalkeeping expert is Sir Marshall last night Barry I thought that was funny at the time I said you know I'm so well Barry when he came here three years ago you said he's going to do the business for Celtic yeah because there was a lot of question marks people saying as you've done and no play the lot of football as you're good enough and I said last night can only go one way what I see man I played with him and it was the same question mark over Jack Butler and then this similar scenarios that hadn't played a lot of football but certainly last season he was he was definitely class for Celtic and lesson you'll be a huge miss they'll need to go we've spoke about it plenty of times we need to go and spend big money on getting at a placement because big gloves to feel and no just a very good goalkeeper I can address from big character they're hard to find nowadays and on the plane coming back is the former mother will goalkeeper Liam Kelly is he going to be a Rangers goalkeeper by the time it looks that way Paul and obviously John McLaughlin contract was up young McCrory I'm saying young McCrory's 25-20 set he needs to go and play games of football now so it looks to me of Jack Butler and Bastaine which I'm sure Rangers fans will be absolutely delighted with so Liam Kelly coming in he knows a club Paul you come through the system and to be fair him let a lot of young boys will stay and just be around the club let Rangers he decided to go and try and play first-time football which he'd done pretty well Livingston then QPR and obviously it muddled the last day a few seasons so listen Liam Kelly's been a very good goalkeeper over the year so I think it's a a decent sign in for Rangers episodes and so but a goalkeeper Joseph Borsick from Club Bruce I see not a goalkeeper but some do you know Mark Liam Gordon has just joined Motherwell from St. John's in decent signing to be yeah he's got big solid set of half Liam's club captain at St. John's and being there as a kid St. John's a supporter could sign if her mother will shoot a kid who will be delighted to get Liam Gordon then support was the goalkeeper there the goalscorer right at the end of the game last night it was hard to take but he wasn't 110 minutes because tonight we were even talking about right if Spain beat tonight in their game that it's all if spots and maybe it was from of corner as well which is that's a point yeah obviously it was a counter attack yeah I think the ball felt he was at Callum and it was like in a 50-50 bang the break on is in to be fair it was a really good break they went at pace and unfortunately for us they finished it off and that was I was out there to alone what are you gonna be watching tonight I suspect it's the Italians you'll watch and of course we're gonna be playing Croatia again so yeah watch that game tonight I think that'll be a good one then you've got Albania and Spain yeah yeah listen oh I like watching a football and she's just not the same it's not the same I'm not feeling it but also I'll get a bite and I will watch it and by the good news is that Varga it was a cheekbone some bones apparently that's what their coach is saying so but luckily it's gonna be okay yeah I mean you obviously you don't know and and it's really good now you know the stance at TV cat production cruise on to it as you don't zoom in anymore and you don't show replays which is good and so yeah that is good news Paul delighted to hear that another Scotland fan on next George is up on 0808 17 17 700 the gory do your football show with Scottish tubes and fittings proudly serving Scotland for 27 years open 70s let's go it's the gory do football show the last edition of this season with our friends at Scottish Tubes and fittings what's a course coming in tonight Barry to say enjoy the summer well nobody has actually saying that but I will say it to you this is what they said to the Scotland team they didn't say they had the band the umpa band playing outside mark one of your favorites from the greatest hit network or something I'm only kidding it's a great no I'll be bad you'll answer excuse me better than me but that's you don't want to hear that would you have just been knocked away exactly I know what I would have been putting one of these trumpet Oh George son's got to cheer us up good evening George big Scotland fan how are you good evening Carl yeah I'm alright ah you know if I'd time to reflect and what we're wrong wrong and I just wanted to discuss that yeah because yeah there's a lot of things we could have done definitely but I think quite a he was stuck in his ways he had his favorites and he stuck to his favorites and he stuck to his you know his system and it didn't work and I don't know what you know he was saying to players and training before each game but there wasn't that urgency like there was in the qualifiers now I could I could point out to several things that really stood out number one the formation we've never played well let's have four five one we've always played well with two strikers up from three five two now why would you leave I'm gonna I'm gonna pinpoint specific faults why would you leave your top goal scooter on the bench for the last 10 15 minutes he should have been playing from the start we're talking Shanklin yeah Adam says I get prayer he's powerful when I have a two of them together you know that's what Barry said sorry in the first order let's take that one first of all we Barry what would you say on that on but on Shanklin yeah we we we practically knew but we was going to start and what formation I just thought maybe after 10 or 15 minutes of the second half playing Shanklin on to partner she had him's up top that's what I thought would have happened just something different for the Hungarian defense to come up against so yeah I was disappointed not to see Lawrence even if you were going going to go with one striker to start the game I would have gave Lawrence the opportunity because obviously she had them said running self and in the ground against the Swiss and so yeah that's a pointed notice he learns at least that one of the games and certainly the game last night Mark will he likes five at the back you know George was saying in about four but he went with five yeah so it's always fun yeah I mean I think you know when I think but also we didn't have limited dates available which was a blow a bit I mean there's been times and the success that we've had under Steve Clark were dikes and Adams have played together you know sometimes he's going with it and it's been really really successful and obviously didn't have that option with dikes but so whether it was shankland and Conway Adams and shankland Conway and shit you whatever I would have at some point liked have seen us with two proper strikers on the pitch and seen the last 15 minutes the last day last 20 minutes it was a perfect time to go and do it Kevin's on as well George stay with us Kevin good evening what are you thinking how are you doing boys and most of the same is everybody else are actively charged the boys named the caller there but I mean I mean it's just George I mean it's it's first of all I don't like to come across as one of these Scotland fans is doing plume and all of a sudden we're determined and I thought with a six o'clock conference I'm more but when we're in that group when you're in a most one game you've got the top score on the score one again who have been begging Celtic design and then if you don't even bring them on if you're interested you in the bench I'm still in the bench forest in the bench it brings them on with barely anything we can impact it's it doesn't make sense to me and we just need to read some fresh ideas some fresh and precise because it was in fury and watching my second half there'd be nobody doing Mark yeah again you know I talk to understand why Kevin and George that they're making those comments you know it was I think we all bit frustrated when we look at the first 45 actually one of our callers say that it was boring I think it was Michael from Liverpool was boring you know you're sitting there you're sitting in the house watching my god that was a hard watch you think like we need a live not we need to find the way but it's a change of formation of it one thing I would say again Paul just a stress come out of the the people that are saying that Steve Clark no I'm not going to go down that road I think it's disrespectful the SFA will stick by and for sure if Steve decides to call it a day and then that's up to him I'd respect that decision but at the moment I'd give Steve Clark the chance to continue his manager but let us say there's well Paul we'll get six really really tough games coming up and the nation's lead between now and end of the year six really tough ones and it needs to want a couple of them after 58 minutes Barry I'd written down 10s and scrappy you can see it was 10s by then like you and I don't need the game anything like you but I thought we're going to change things up in the second time yeah that's what I thought I mean I kind of listen it was it was a hard watch don't get my role we had plenty of possession but we've never done anything with it understood that way starting again but the second half I did expect is to at least let ourselves off a leash and kind of go from because I believe they were there for a take hungry as I said Paul they have good players but I thought defensively they were suspect and you seem like the last ten minutes of the game they were they were they were a wee bit all over the place so I fully expected that at least a half hour ago and so yep that's that's a disappointing thing and I'm sure Steve will go away as I mentioned with his coaching staff and discuss the scenarios that have happened in the last three games in terms of will they go a different way when they the next meet up which I think they will but in terms of Steve Clark I still think he has the right man to take his take his forward and yet Georgia could have been different if we got that penalty it's Hanley's shot had gone in yeah deep I mean that was in 98 minutes can you believe it seems like a lifetime ago now and maybe that people's over crack so I don't know what do you think well well yeah the penalty was definitely a penalty but can I can I just finally another couple of things now see in the last year those we highlighted you know key on-form players that weren't available now there were key on-form players that didn't even make this squad and this is so infuriating like who this is where Clark had his favourites that went on-form who are you thinking why would you you're going to say Ryan Gold? well he's live in up in the email is like I was glad to see it was Morgan the least Morgan was played as a winger now in his team he's found his goal scoring touch as a newborn striker right so you had an additional striker there but he performs well as with a partner and this is a thing Adams probably struggled because he didn't have a partner and you look at you look at the midfield and you know McGinn unfortunately was off-form but- is that fair last night? Yeah so John McGinn did a powder work took a lot of punishment Barry in the first half especially John McGinn was right on it yeah listen I'm sure if you asked John yourself he would have probably agreed that he could have performed better in the three games but yeah it's such an important player and John McGinn and one thing again we'll just join but the whole team and the guys who played on the pitch and in the three games you can't deny that they don't give it everything they do just the quality probably frustrated because as I mentioned there we have get very good players in my opinion I just don't think they were playing at the top of the game Kevin a lot was just out wasn't it I mean we should have done better we had a chance there last night but it's gone it's now going to be about September Poland I don't know I mean I just I mean that's that's a penalty that's a penalty all day long I mean I don't know oh honest I could make a class strong safe to the boy was better than just up or a cell think that would have been a penalty but I just don't know how that was in our family it's a penalty every day they've eaten twice on us on there I don't get it by the end of the day mate it shouldn't have come to need just that penalty and I'm sure Mark and Barry agree it shouldn't have we shouldn't need we should have needed that penalty we wish to be gone for it before then but I don't apparently it doesn't make sense I mean what would make sense is to bring the changes with twenty twenty five minutes to go I just I don't get it and I've got unlucky I don't know their worst fairies in nowhere but I was on a good few months ago run and raving about how good the worst fairies must be party and they was just before a friendly and I said I can't even flip a guy game in Barry's there I hope he I think he won't start did you get a start no you didn't me Steve can't just refuse to check even in friendly he did a change in it and I just think we need inflation but for me but also I appreciate everyone that he's done but that that performed their performances Germany apart could have different class their performances against this Swiss and last night it's just not good enough Kevin thanks for that call I don't think we disagree with much say Barry do we he is he's naturally cautious Stevie Clark and it's taken us a long way but maybe just be a bit more adventurous yeah and I think maybe you might see a change in that because you hear him doing his presser after the game boom he's going to go away digest it take a bit of time off then meet up with coaching staff and I think coming back once the season starts and the Scotland game start coming around I think you could see a change to the the formation not as much as a personnel because if you look at the age of the squad I still think there's a lot of football left in that squad Joseph and Hillhead is asking for the next tournament he's saying four years time but we know we've got nations coming up nations league in the World Cup is just two years away mark I just know one thing that's just stuck with me Andy Robertson mentioned in these post-match that we go you can hand to them if we want a two possibility of time and that's another you can as he said that I just hope it's no him he's 30 and carrying an injury like this he's new manager getting a little Liverpool you know the pressure that's on on him I hope I hope remember I hope it's not his self it's torn away but maybe there's one or two surprises to come on that front pole because it demands now yeah and I know they get everything on the sport signs and we'll look after them we'll put a get it they get it based everything but maybe I hope I'm wrong but I'm just wondering that was Andy Robertson possibly just talk now he hadn't about himself wow and he said he's just 30 isn't he yeah he was a lot of you carry a lot of you said engine I'm not saying he's an injury I don't know and he's a great captain and he's been brilliant and I was just wondering I'm thinking the new guy getting in at Liverpool except just as it is on his mind I hope yeah as you know Jim White was on with us last night you know from talk sport he was on Jim was great but talking about it's maybe no coincidence that England are not firing at the moment that could well change but it's the most demanding league in the world isn't it yeah England yeah and the players let you know again Robertson McTominier playing there maybe they're absolutely done Barry by this time of the season when I say done no that's a possibility Paul because they do play a lot of football and they don't get much a break now so yeah that that could play apart I'm sure even minute away obviously over the euros I'm sure the training was tapered the bit because these guys have played the hell a lot of football this season and you've got a you've got your understanding and but if you wanted playing at the highest level that's what you've got to come up against and but I'm sure these guys who have played a lot of football would deserve a break they'll go away and do you know what maximum though gets two weeks Paul how much did you need Barry you played at the highest level it's not that long ago well the most I probably got was what three weeks was that enough um yeah you probably just shut yourself off for two weeks but then you obviously had to look after yourself and and obviously get back in it a groove before you actually went back in a preseason because you get about to play about you don't know what you're going and I decided to do that you've got to understand they do play a lot of football when the pressures and the demands are on a lot of these players is as a lot would you run in holiday yep I'm sure even during the close seasons yeah you've got to you've got to you can let yourself go and certainly now I think you've got to be an athlete you've played again George thanks for your call as well I think I remember before you mentioned about Ryan Gold mark what would you say there because there are players that could have been considered and weren't he but one thing for sure between Steve Clarke and his staff everybody they say for you are the coach is that they would have not left any stone unturned so there's a reason why if you want you know you're highlighting Ryan Gold was the involved you know what I was interested in all who the else George was taught about as in place I'm really informed that when they take I can't really think of any position another name yeah I mean like for example and another well there was a couple of other there's teller names that come to mind right yeah a Max Johnson of student grads a he was on fun and there's a young chap I know he's playing fast and Villa in the youth development but he's he's scoring goals for fun you know we get Rody Wilson I don't know how old he is I think he's 18 now George I don't think I'm just a mistake at that mind remains was a Max Johnson wasn't he playing a lot of fasting football up yeah it's doing grass unless you've been watching North stream leak um George but yeah George won't have to go to the break there's so many calls coming in tonight but look football's full of opinions Barry I don't want you can make the jump from Aston Villa youth's under 18s to the international is such a jump up yeah as listening you need to experience first-team football that he brought Ben Dokan he's experienced first-team football I'm telling it is injury I thought he would have made the break through obviously I must have heard about this season but it's about definite look you need to gain first-team football ball you need to have the wee bit experience you can't just come from under 21 football straight into the national team that's that's impossible to do thanks for the calls oh eight oh eight seventeen seventeen seven hundreds the gory do your football show with Scottish tubes and fittings pipes fittings and valves for every application including water oil steam and gas so many calls came in tonight Barry it's on fire sadly you know at this point the last couple of weeks we've had the music great Scottish artists but it's gone the bunting is down in the studio yeah we've been high looking forward to actually really thought we had an opportunity to get out the group stage pole so yeah pretty flat today so is all the fans you can understand there's a fair bit of frustration Steve Klatt's getting that wee bit the players are getting that wee bit but listen I still I still think Steve Klatt's a very good manager I still think he should be in charge of Scotland and I'm sure this group of players I want to go in and show how good they can be because I don't think they played at the levels that we've been we've been used to over the years since Steve Klatt's took over gave everything I don't think you can fault the effort was a very tough game good opponent very close game was always going to be decided by the first goal you could tell that after half an hour unfortunately for us when we opened up towards the end of the game to try and chase the one that we felt we needed to get to the next stage we got caught encounter and we lose the game one now but I don't think there was anything between the two teams injuries and the lead-up to it and during the tournament I never speak about injuries it's my default maybe when we go away maybe when we sit down over a cup of coffee and three or four weeks time or whenever it is maybe then we can discuss the impact the people that weren't here I'd much rather just be sad with the people that are here that's more important to me at this moment in time just one goal from a Scotsman Scott McTomany the other one of course as we know was an ongoing goal against Germany lack of goals and scorers I think it's very difficult we sit here and analyze and understand why he's asking the questions but sometimes after a defeat like that you need a little bit of time just to digest everything and and work out how the game went why the game went that way like I said we had a lot of the ball but we didn't probably create enough but we did create enough chances to score a goal that's clear so is that why we went out the tournament well we scored two goals this time won't let's go to one the last time nah it is something for me to go away and think about speaking my coaches and and try and work on something going into the future as to how we can score more goals at certain times in games yeah Kenny McLean spoke afterwards what wrong it was a different game from the other night to be honest I think Hungary sat off is a little bit in you know they asked us questions where we had to go and break them down and they did a really good block they were really rigid and we just couldn't get through enough we couldn't find the answers to that so it was a totally different game I think in the Switzerland game we could get out of them and press them and really get the crowd on our side and stuff like that I think it was different tonight Hungary didn't play as much as Switzerland wanted to so it was tough to get that press not intent I think we had to find more with the ball is it there in the mix zone did he feel it was a penalty we should have had I just got asked that question here I thought it was offside to be honest I thought that's what was given which I've just been told wasn't so I think it was a foul so that sort of wins a little bit to be honest Mark that's a good point quite a few people said we didn't really see it back we didn't so there was a suggestion of offside anyway but clearly it was in the case yeah it was a penalty kick poll because I think probably all of us thought in live play and then with the benefits of the replays that vase seeing there's no excuse and that is so understanding look you know and we should have been better than what we were but we have been robbed of a penalty kick to put us one now and the leader gathers of how badly or how well how well we played or the opposition we were denied a stone ball penalty kick at nil now for sure hundred percent penalty somebody somewhere has to explain to me why that's not a penalty it's one hundred percent and like I said there's a one-go game we get the penalty can be a different night I've got other words but I'm not going to use them wonder what they were why no var why wasn't it checked by the spanish var official European competition may have been better to have a European referee but we had European vr and maybe the referee didn't see the the challenge clearly on the pitch what's the purpose of vr if they're not going to come in and something like that was a penalty and buddy yeah we've been saying for the past what week and a half the officials have done well so far but that seems to be the biggest talking point so far was Scotland being denied a clear cut penalty no wonder because it was a clear cut penalty and I think if you ask anybody Paul the law totally agree the referee can miss it that happens but I don't do not understand why vr did not notify the referee come and have a look at the screen because if we went and had a look at the screen if he didn't see the original incident it's a penalty all day long Mike Dean we heard him in the first hour he said yeah it should have been a penalty he spoke about the referee to make the big calls guys have made big calls all throughout the time this is probably the first big call obviously off a mountain he's called you the week with the with the Holland game where you know where we're trying to be on the referee but again it's it's clear on this season it's wrong all around so you know where the referee are getting up the game between now and yet the torch I don't know without the wait and say is that a speed it up Barry is that a week's fix Wow Jesus you know what a smart he's that's got to be on you Steve that's got a play that's got a play for some reason I don't know if you made you that's good I said this lesson let's be honest it was nice and I meant did you did you see the score there was a great mark of respect the horse that I looked after and I thought it was fun to be cheating you know the most worrying thing I think I know that's wrong can you name it three matching tunes isn't it no I think that's enough come on Barry is gonna vote you boo that desk in a moment or two he's been desperate all season can you believe Barry it's the last one of this season it's not the way we wanted to end we're still getting other eight minutes to go I'm not wrapping it up but it's too soon isn't it yeah as definitely as no doubt about it you can go in about the players up on missing it and look there's quality players in my eyes but I still think we had enough to get through Paul that's the that's a frustrating thing about it we should still be there unfortunately I've never done enough last night let's be honest yeah never done enough to take the penalty the penalty decision away I just thought throughout the game I had to give a bit more in terms of going forward and putting hungry under a bit of pressure and see how they they would they would handle it and that's what we're going about the substitutions try to up top how would the Hungarian defenders handle two cent of forwards and so yep overriding feeling is one a that's a point in frustration and appointment I should say and frustration come back to Joseph it was on earlier from Hillhead saying about will the squad be passed their best in four years well let's say in two years even I think we all feel no but mark you did make a good point that the interview with Andy Robertson last night he did indicate as if well would everyone still be there yeah yeah hinting maybe one or two the part and I hope he's I hope he's not one of them but just wouldn't it all the fighting okay if I can just pod over you look at the skins of its guy yeah or you look at Gary South getting taken raised doing that the pretty much media corners ahead of the game again so that looks tense it does are we all breaking a camp now between the English media and then goes out they are not having a tone had he can't have an up up it to she don't want to cut you know and that can come back to you yeah frosty because Linnaker has got yeah Linnaker obviously is a very powerful you know figure in the game I was born as poor I've watched on my part for the first game the first 45 minutes when they were pretty decent but Denmark game they were really poor and and this might sound after I think sometimes you can have too many good players those guys playing out of position you look at full folding best playing they play my leg this year where's it where's it been playing the vast majority centrally and they've put them wide yeah on the left hand side yeah we're not where ever plays we might say if it does play and I said it's off their right hand side and they've got the best player in the La Liga as well would you agree dude Bellingham or you hundred percent and guys an absolute machinier midfielder and maybe one of the best in the Bundesliga in Harry Kane but it's just not what had it had it came there's little it's brought on his way he's been a minded he did suffer an injury poll before the tournament started but they just it doesn't look at a happy camp have you you actually put their squad up the ability and the standard the player is absolute frightening they're just no jelly the simple as that and you look at the players that have no even been brought to Jay and many high-quality players and yep that's certainly something that's that's not right certainly in the dangling camp and as you mentioned there with the media there's a real a real tense atmosphere Mark if you did get days going Barry was on we were talking about the lack of facilities in Scotland I had Davy Moist talking about yesterday as well yeah David Moist was wasn't it but all we in the way is sport he's passion for the Scottish game and I've got a bonus we 100% agreed with every single thing it came out his mouth yeah about we're going about other a small nation it's an exquisite times yeah look at other nations yeah look at the Scandinavian countries yeah David's main knowledge of that will come from Iceland right because his father's actually Kenny seniors and I over the United States for the services to Icelandic football so yeah absolutely yeah so David's knowledge of ice and what they've done such a small country smaller than us facilities so that's what he's he'll be basic so what he's saying they can back up he knows exactly what he's taught them we need to raise the bar here in this country this is the national game I mean I remember during Covid and all that football clubs here get loans other sports got grants so public money earned money from our taxes went out there football doesn't get the priority that it should look at the show Paul I keep saying it we come in when the season finishes yeah and that's like boys club level our armatures I walked past the pitches in the goals I took down it's like the grass is too high and there's no goals no one how me yeah how you maintain courage people you get out in that grass and and kick the ball it's makes me sad I've been really honest and I gave you an example a couple of weeks ago I was went to a local part of my my boy and I've never seen one person out kicking the ball in Lannockshire I mean unheard of you know the county that gave us so many brilliant players over and you hear them talking about down south where are the dougleshes the Sunaces and then they never watched that with David Moyes right one watch it was everything that he said was 100% bang on the button I mean I was dad's David not care if he's sorry of course yeah and something you mentioned the other day Barry I see you were absolutely right looks as all Rangers will play the Champions League qualifier qualifiers at Murray Field so you said yeah yeah I think maybe the first four or five games well when the fixtures come out obviously they come I think they'll try and do a sit down in SFN try and have the first four or five away from home mark Rangers new CEO we don't know yet but Andrew McKinley has been mentioned the CEO of Hearts what do you make of them a very efficient pull you get good track record spent a number of years at the SFN a number of different roles including acting chief executive you look at his track record Hearts very very good so no telling all that yeah I've no idea if he is in the shortlist I do not mean just looking to replace James Bizgrove obviously but yeah he should he should be a candidate very very good operator but on the point of the stadium Paul that's got to be a concern yeah not having your games at Iberts Champions League qualifiers but by a couple of league games as well that's a real concern from a footballing point of view not to mention the up people for fans and if you're going to be able to come with it all your season take it all goes that's a problem and I do think when a few months ago Dundee were getting sick quite rightly about the pitch absolutely we sometimes have to watch so what we say because things can come back and bite you which it kind of is at the moment in Celtics quite at the moment they'll be back at training soon I would imagine they'll be a wee bit behind Rangers because they don't have the qualifiers Thank you Barry right started today any big news no the big news is I'm sure they'll be lying on their sofa just put your legs yeah first day of preseason is never enjoyable because that's a test normally it's a testing day where you do quite a lot of tests and so I think this preseason under Philip Clemente is going to be tough and he's been on asking we don't know the answers so Grant Hanley could he be on his way to Rangers could Scott McKenna be at Rangers or Celtic for next season because it looks as though Tavani is away Celtic I don't think it's any news come out so far Mark but it's going to be some summer it could be some summer the two goalkeepers Jack Butler will be wanted down south moving imagine and Joe Hart is now moved on yeah any time yeah yeah maybe some time maybe we keep one or two things up the sleeve because all the focus is on Scotland and what you pick your pivotal moment to go and get as much a coverage and media exposure as possible in terms of saying so I wouldn't be surprised to see something being announced at Celtic in the next four or five days and I don't think Rangers will sell Jack Butler as you go right wow and on that bombshell I don't honestly don't think they can too important yeah yeah yeah there's not enough money in it for the goalkeeping position is that's not as if they're going to get 30 million or whatever but right Barry we're just about a time so sadly that's as gone from the tournament but I know you both want to finish with a word for the tartan army who went maybe 200 000 people Barry over there many of them still there we all watched it in TV and they showed that how passionate they are about the country passed about supporting the team they were loud but the most important thing is well they all behaved herself for sure and that's what you get yeah even our executive producer James is over there I hope he's enjoying it but I think he's moved on now thanks to Gary who's done a great job you don't want to get it Mark can you believe it we come back late July yeah I'm looking forward to you see I filled two weeks off and then I'll start doing a wee bit of late jogging before I back the back of the studio at the end of July Barry you mean Joe Hartleby somebody will say what's that about it's been a pleasure not at all there's no way you're going back down the river Marguerite number one pundit in the country Barry you're so fair and the Rangers fans love you the Celtic fans and gradually respect you I would say no it's true absolutely and that's what we all try and call it as we see it thank you so much have a great summer enjoy your break thank you so much thanks everyone your break guys news is next we're back in a few weeks time the Gordy Dio football show with Scottish tubes and fittings Scotland's independent pipe work
