We've got a couple updates from the NFL, a couple wide receivers. So let's be hyper-focused on just the receiver position first. Because I have some good news. Tell me what you think about this and how this may affect the Patriots. Gambling charges dropped against Patriots Keshan Booty. Do you remember that he was arrested in January when he was in school over allegations of illegal sports, but I forgot all about that. A lot of betting. Remember he was big on like eight leg parlays and stuff? Did he ever win? I don't think so. Well, that's got to be like a weightlifting off his shoulders right there, right? All the charges have been dropped. Sure. Now, I wonder if this means everything is free and clear from an NFL perspective. I don't know if that's true. Because they can sometimes treat things differently, right? You don't necessarily have to get in trouble. Oh, that's right. That's right. That's like, it's a whole like, uh, listen, you know, I know this is the rule, but we're going to punish you more because we feel like it's more important. Right. Yeah, you may have tied the way with the game. Yeah, the integrity of the game rule. And gambling, they have weird, like, oh, you can bet. You just can't be on the Wi-Fi of the stadium when you play said bet. So make sure your phone is moved out to cellular by the time you place it. I'm still amazed that like guys get caught gambling. I know it's not a, I know it's not a big number. He's your name, like, Kesham booty one. Oh, yeah. No, he didn't really hide it. Oh, and then that's why I shouldn't be surprised is how stupid they are when it comes to trying to get away with it or don't even know. Don't use your real name. Like if you were going to, if you were an NFL football player and you wanted to gamble on the team, what would you, how would you do it? Not Andy Hart. Not Andy Hart. Would you like to not do it on the in Randy fart? Yeah. Jeez. How real Andy Hart. I'm throwing underscore in there. Yeah. Just to kind of maybe an asterisk or something like that. No, probably, you know, maybe just use my wife's phone. Oh, that's not legally. All right. So let me know if you think this is a guy that the Patriots should. Wait, real quick. Go ahead. I see positive sort of portrayals of the booty thing like, oh, now a weight is off his shoulders. As you said, and like he can compete for a spot. I don't assume presume really expect anything from Keisha on booty. It'd be a great story if he's good and if he wins a roster spot at receiver, I think their position at receiver is wide open. Like, you know, it's crowded. But it's crowded. It is crowded. And that's my point. Like, I don't think it's just, well, now he's one of the top five automatically. No, no, no, I think he has to go out there and prove himself worthy of staying a New England Patriot wide receiver. So that it's good that this is off his legal plate. Now go prove you can actually play in the NFL. I know. I was going to say under any under maybe different circumstances, he's a long shot. I know we're not going to do the whole like they always tell you don't count the bodies in the room. And then everybody counts the bodies in the room. You have to do whether you're only going to keep six. How many do they usually keep wide receivers? Why is it six seven not included tight ends, right? It you got to keep at least it's in the five to seven range. Because wide receivers and yeah, Slater and like things of that nature. But yeah, he's he's got to work his way into a top five in my opinion. I don't see the receiver position for the Patriots is. I mean, I know we're just going all over the place, but now I'm thinking about it. Like the most like what position are you most, you know, curious to watch the most competitive position as well, receiver? Because it has different though, but okay, because it has upside. It's like left tackle. Everybody will be watching. But I think nobody really has any faith in anybody. Somebody's going to win the left tackle job. A core for and then they're going to like squint and hold their breath and cross their fingers and hope that the quarterback doesn't get killed. Receiver. I think there are people that believe if everything goes right. Demario Douglas could catch 90 balls as the next great slot receiver. Jayvon Baker could be a playmaker as a rookie and impact guy who brings energy and playmate Jalen Polk could be the next Jacobi Myers, like a sure get open, catch the football, not sexy, but you look down and he's got 80 catches on the season. I think a lot of people have high Kendrick Bourne can get healthy and get back to who he wants to be and who he thinks he is. There's some upside there and booties and other guy. I would throw booty in that mix. Juju Smith Schuster says he's healthy. Can a veteran stand up? So there's guys you have optimism or hope for. See, the thing that stands out to me is just the difference between the young and the old. You have this and the personalities that go along with those guys. You have the young, nobody's drafted, I mean, high, it's not a first round pick in there, not a second round pick, a third and fourth round picks, but the second round pick. Who was second? Was that Baker? Jalen Polk. Oh, Jalen Polk was second. You have this young group of wide receivers that obviously want to take over. They're all loud. They're all, you know, opinionated. And they have this leash to do whatever they want on social media. So you're hearing and seeing a lot of them. And then you have like the leftovers, I would call them and the veterans because it's not just, you know, Schuster, you know, there's others that are Kendrick Bourne. KJ Osborne is new, but he feels like a leftover, like sort of an afterthought. So like, and then I would say it's kind of like ready made for the young guys to kind of hijack the situation, hijack. Yeah, because you do imagine like you hope you have some of the problems that like the San Francisco 49ers are having right now with some of their receivers and we'll bring up the name that may be open out there that the Patriots could get, you know, because you hope three to four years from now, these guys are so accomplished and their numbers are so good. And the production is obvious, right? That you're like, holy crap, these guys are going to start acting out. They're going to want more money. They're going to want to, they're going to demand a trade. Sure, right? Because it's going to embrace that idea, right? That means that means you have good players. I always said, I want like receivers and passrushers that take plays off because they're so good. Those are the truly elite, like the Randy Moss, he took plays off. You know why he's Randy Effing Moss, he can. Yeah, but I would say you're right. The majority of his career, though, would you call Randy Moss a play, take her off her guy, like a lazy route runner, like when he knew he wasn't getting the ball, absolutely. Really? Because I think you're right because there was a time like right when Andrew Walter was the quarterback in Oakland, he took the whole like, well, that's to me. It's like that was just, it's so funny. Like when I look at him and we actually have some sound of him that we're going to play from the K Adams show where he is just not even close to the person that I thought he was from the outside looking in from the outside, even his Minnesota days, his Oakland days, just kind of kind of bugged me a little bit, you know, but he cannot be a better pro. He could not have, he cannot be just more down, well, do you, but he, you can't just be lazy, even if, you know, even if you're as talented as him, you can't be lazy. Oh, I don't think he was lazy, but his motivation at times was misplaced. I think he was immature and I think there were issues because of that. Well, he doesn't, it comes off, if you didn't know, if you just saw highlights and you saw him speak now, you would think he was the deepest, you know, thinker around and the most honest guy you've ever met in your life. But if you saw the bus in Minnesota after he was traded out in New England, where he was like screaming at sponsors and got himself cut, I bet you'd look at him differently. Yeah. If you had footage of that, right? No, and there's, it's funny. It's just, it's how you just forget about those times. And yeah, now he's like balling and he's got a standing ovation at the Brady Hall of Fame award ceremony, whatever you want to call it. Oh, so the guy that a couple names I want to bring up to you, Brandon, I you. Yes. San Francisco wide receivers, but in contract negotiations, he's not happy. He is demanded, demanded a trade. Is this a guy that the Patriots should, should go after? Absolutely. All pro caliber receiver. I know he's done it within that scheme, which A is player friendly, but is also he's got Debo. He's got Christian McCavry. He's got George Kittle, a lot of talent around him. That would be a drop off for him if suddenly he's in New England, and he's trying to be the guy, the number one guy. But that's true of a lot of these guys, T Higgins, right? T Higgins is a projection. He plays with Joe Barrow and Jamar Chase. That's not going to be the same when you get to Drake May and whoever, you know, Demario Douglas that you're playing with. But Brandon Ayuk has had all pro caliber production in San Francisco. And for a team like the Patriots that needs a number one, a true number one receiver, go for it. I always look at these guys and I'm like, all right, uh, the way the wide receiver market is going. Uh, how some of these guys make, uh, are in the same kind of stratosphere as quarterbacks when it comes to guaranteed money average annual per year. It's just the way it is. I think it'll eventually change. Eventually it'll come down. It'll stop. But Brandon Ayuk is probably looking at his team and all the other guys making money, his desire to get more money. And with all the talent on that team, they just can't, and this is what happens to the good teams. Like you hope this happens to the Patriots. All your players that you draft that you developed, you won with there, they come to a point where like they've kind of outgrown you. Are you, are you outgrown them? I guess it'd be a better answer. I think in San Francisco, what they should probably do is trade debo in my opinion because I think you've kind of beaten the hell out of debo in his role running back and running back of all trades, take hits. They know it's coming now. I think, and I don't know that you can invest in both as sort of wide receiver talents, cap hits, whatever slots in your cap. If I were doing that, I would probably keep by you could give him a new contract and try to trade debo because I'm not sure how long debo can chug along. And then you add in George Kittle, not getting any younger. And Christian McCaffrey, A, not getting any younger and has had a lot of injuries in his career. I feel like the wheels could fall. If you trade I, I feel like the 49ers are a team that could just fall apart within a year. See, but the other aspect is here's a guy, not so much Matthew Judon, right? Because Matthew Judon kind of walked it back and like, hey, you know, the whole like we played yesterday, he's not going to play under this new, under this contract, right? And here comes camp. You got a bunch of rookies showing up today, almost like six teams where rookies are showing up veterans right behind them. I just understand how these guys feel like they can play this out when the rules have changed when it comes to contracts. You can't hold out. If you want to be traded, you're, or is he just acting out and feels like this is a last ditch effort? No, I just think you got to force your hand. When you feel like you have some leverage, when you want to be paid in its work, Debo got pissy a couple of years ago. They ended up giving him the contract, right? It was the same thing. There was thoughts that Debo was going to be traded out of there. He ended up getting his deal. And you know, he's four years in. This is the time to, because I think Judon probably should have pushed harder last off season. He probably should last summer was probably when he should have done it before he had the injury before he missed the time. He was coming off consecutive Probo, Probo, Probo, Probo, Probo seasons. Wes Welker is a guy that learned the lesson. He probably should have pushed the point. Memory tour is ACL. And then it kind of, he lost his leverage in there somewhere. When you have the hammer, when you have that leverage, you got to use it. And I think Brandon Ayuk, 1000 yards followed by 1300 yards, 15 touchdowns the last two years, 160 catches the last two years. So probably time. So the last thing I want to throw out there before we get to, are you done? Is Devonti Adams? Yeah, I think cause for concern with Patriots fans, this whole like, what has to happen for you not to finish last? The Jets acquiring Devonti Adams would not be one of them. So it looks like now, so we played a little bit of sound on how upset he was at Jimmy Garoppolo. It looks like now that there's been a bunch of hints about him playing with Devonti Adams, playing with Aaron Rodgers. Aaron Rodgers was asked about it when he was at this golf course out in Lake Tahoe, kind of mentioned it a little bit. And then now we have boomer sizing coming out. Now the headline wasn't as good, wasn't, didn't nearly meet the standards of what he actually said, but it seems like they're flirting with each other. And that could be a reality. K Adams asked Randy Moss what he thinks should happen. And here's what Randy Moss said. I don't know if the cap, the salary cap can bring a guy like Devonti Adams in, but I would love to see it. The Raiders have to be losing, the Jets have to be winning before that trade deadline, I think for that to happen. What do you think? I mean, let's just keep our fingers crossed. And if that happens, we can come back to this to this interview. But like I say, if it's any fit, you know, speaking about a guy like Devonti Adams, go back with your quarterback man and Aaron Rodgers, they made some great things happen. I mean, that would look good him at the Jets. I'm telling you what, this is going to happen. This is absolutely going to, I'll put a pizza on it. How about that? Oh, I'll take the pizza. It's just, it's, there's too much chatter. And if you're, uh, if you're Devonti Adams and you, Antonio Pierce is your new head coach, I know he doesn't want to leave the Vegas area because he's definitely, you know, locked into that area. But the only way to really kind of do anything of any significance is to get back with the guy that you started at all with. And that would be Aaron Rodgers. And you know, Aaron Rodgers wants him. Listen, those guys are so in lockstep with each other that the, the, the relationship would just be rekindled so quickly and so easily. Nathaniel Hackett could literally call anything and it'd be fine. And you talk about a keeping Aaron Rodgers happy, giving him a guy that he trusts. They did it at a lower level previously. Now you're doing the marquee guy that he worked with in Green Bay. And then you bump Garrett Wilson down to a number two receiver. So there's not that pressure for him to build that rapport that they couldn't build last year because they didn't play it. It wasn't there. Right. Like he wasn't there. And he brought another receiver. Who's the other receiver they brought over from Green Bay? Wasn't nearly, it was a slot receiver. Well, they brought both. Randall Cobb, Randall Cobb. No hard. That's my point. Like you brought like, Cobb is like his best friend. But I don't care about best friend. Now you're bringing the best. Devonta Adams has been the best receiver in football over the last decade, probably. And they work together. Like we saw it in the receiver thing that I'm watching. When they're bitch, when he's bitching about how bad Vegas is, they're showing clips of how good it was in Green Bay, like back shoulder fades and they're just on the same page and making plays. So, and I find it coincidental that all this audio comes out this week of Devonta saying, I got to get the bleep out of here. I'm going to die. This is ruining my career. Like the whole thing. And now it's like, Oh, by the way, there's these thoughts that you might go to New York. And there were reports that the, the jets called last year, that the jets called about Adams last year at some point. So wouldn't you, if you're the Raiders, wouldn't you at least consider it? Uh huh. Absolutely. Now you, you have to be careful because what are you doing as the Raiders? Where are you going? Or they're going tight and heavy. I know that much tight and heavy. Don't have a quarterback. Now you lose your marquee star wide receiver. What do you, you screwed up the quarterback with Garoppolo and car in the last couple of years. I mean, Daniel's so far away from being there. They're in a terrible position. They're further than the Patriots. I was just going to say they're in a worse position than the Patriots. And because they don't even have their Drake May that like they're hoping that he's the guy they don't eat. They have to wait to get the guy. You might be trading the number one pick to the Raiders so they can draft should or Sanders. So it's even, even that conference, that division alone, Kansas City, I think the Chargers are going to be interesting, but I do think they'll be better. They have a quarterback and a head coach. We'll figure out the rest. The Raiders, G's and the Denver, and the Denver Broncos, I think you're going to be a lot better. And I still think it's a two, I still think it's a two horse. Yes. I think it's a two horse race. I think both those, both those teams will make the players. I think the Kansas City Chiefs will make the playoffs. And I think the LA Chargers will make the playoffs. So the Twitch chat says, Adams is a Jack. No, thank you. That's fine. Guess who is also a Jack? Aaron Rodgers, like they work together. You've embraced the Jacks. That's why they get along so well. They have similar personalities. Right. But you know what? They're also similarly, Hall of Fame talents. Really good to get really freaking talented. And I do believe they both want to win. I don't know if they're a hundred percent into winning, but they want to win before their Hall of Fame careers, Antonio Brown leave in the Raiders. Right. Back when he had all those issues with Gruden and burning his feet in the cryo chamber. And then next, you know, he literally got what he wanted. They said, okay, fine. Different organization back then, different, you know, leadership and GM, you know, and head coach. So we got the 401 chiming in. I love trade talk. Guys are available. We said, I go get them. This, I'm going to fluff up because I think this version is not right. The 401 says trade judon and a fourth for you can then pay them. I'm going to change it because I don't think the 49ers would have any interest in that trade. Would you trade judon and a first, not next year? It would have to be the twenty, twenty six. No, no, I like my my receiver's. I'll do with my receivers that I have now. I want to see them grow. I'm not giving a first round pick for Brandon Ayuk. Okay. About a second because it could be the 33rd pick in the draft. I know, right? It's almost good. It sounds a little bit better. In baseball, they call it a sandwich pick.
Christian Fauria and Andy Hart talked about the Patriots depth at the wide receiver position and the report that 49ers WR Brandon Aiyuk has requested a trade.
