Oh, I see which way the braverman blows with this one. You've got to let me know, should I stay or should I go? Matthew Judon, is he the DJ extraordinaire for this particular rejoin, Joe Braverman? Well, he's the GM of my DJing ideas. So he DM'd me a tweet on Twitter saying, "Hey, if you're going to talk about me, this is the song you got to play." DM'd you a tweet on Twitter, huh? Nailed it. That went south. And quickly no less. But it's a good point. Would you rather it be, oh, he DM'd me on X on a tweet and all that? Sounds wrong. How about he DM'd me? Just DM'd, yeah. Well, you can DM people on the TikTok and on the IG. That's fine. I don't need details. The GM gave me a DM. The unofficial assistant GM. You. And GFY. Andy always likes to say that Matthew Judon is the worst general manager in the history of the NFL because he's recruited millions and signed none. Yeah. He's over. Over. He can't even sign his own deal. I know. Is he tweeting at himself like, "Hey, stay with the Patriots, Judy. All right. I guess I will." So if I'm not mistaken, Andy, we have a little bit of a thing going on right now with Matthew Judon and potentially soon Jabril Peppers. So if you guys are unaware, earlier this week, Jabril Peppers tweeted that he rather he put it on his, it was sourced out, aggregated, if you will, on the X platform. But he put on his Instagram that he knows it's a contract year and it's a big year for him coming up. That was the pleasant way of beginning or trying to open negotiations with his current football team, the New England Patriots, if you will. That was him knocking on the office door saying, "Excuse me, excuse me, excuse me too. I've been here for two years. I would like a new deal. Hey." Most of, you know, as many know, have locked up a lot of members of the core, which of course has, you know, begat a lot of debates. "Bellow chick can't draft, a bell chick's draft was so bad and he had to get fired for it. How come they're resigning on Wenu and Andrews and Anthony Jennings and Uche and all Tavai and all these guys?" Well, I mean, no one ever said, "Bellow chick couldn't draft overall." And these are the kinds of guys that he was great at picking and finding like the Jelani Tavai's like the South– Well, some people said he couldn't draft. He couldn't draft at all? Yeah. Oh, yeah. There were people that said he flat out, "Could not draft anymore." There was a certain type of player. He was great at developing, great at finding, great at discovering, great at refining. And then there were certain kinds of players that he wasn't able to wide receivers. And that could very well be like maybe Elliot Wolf will not be the Lord and Savior as the executive vice president of football operations. I don't know why they just can't call him GM, but whatever. Him with the fancy title as he tries to weaponize the offense. If one or both of these wide receivers end up working out, then great. Then he'll have been the right guy to come in and solve all the Patriots' problems. But he's going to have a little bit of an issue over the next couple of weeks because while Peppers is not noisome or an issue now and he hasn't said that he's not going to play on the final year of the deal, he certainly would like a new deal. And it may be a tough one for him to find in New England, Andy, because he got Kyle Dugger, who plays a similar position, as a matter of fact the same one basically. He just signed a four year, 58 million dollar deal. And you got Marte Mapu listed as a linebacker and a safety on the roster. Now he's only in the second year of his deal, but you figure they're going to try to figure out where he plays best and what his value is this season as well. If Mapu develops and you got Dugger on a four year top of market safety deal, I don't feel like there's going to be much room for Gabriel Peppers when there's a glaring need for free safety on the Patriots. And then of course, we have the curious case of Judon. So I ran a Twitter poll yesterday, Andy, just to give you an idea what the people say, the you people or we people, as we like to say. Quick Pat's poll in the summer time, which player would you offer a new deal to first this summer? Matthew Judon and Drew Bill Peppers, both or neither were not options. It was just Judon or Peppers and Judon won 58.7% to Peppers, 41.3%. So I ask you, Andy, would you sign Judon Peppers both or neither? I would probably trend toward neither. If I were answering your poll question and the way you phrased it was, who would you offer? Is that what you said? Which player would you offer a new deal to first this summer? Matthew Judon, I would offer him a deal. As you and I have talked about previously on the six rings, a deal that would be what I would call team friendly or he might call unfair. I would use the structure of Hunter Henry, who is making less on his extension than he did in the previous deal that brought him into New England in that uncharacteristically aggressive off season. I think they are very similar. I want them around. I think they are when healthy productive players, but I can't give them raises necessarily on what I've been paying them. Hunter Henry took the bait. You know, I was surprised all along. He signed I think three and 27, nine million a year instead of the 12 and a half million a year he was making previously. If I can get, I'd offer a deal to Matthew Judon. As far as Peppers, I love him. He might be one of my favorite Patriots over the last couple of years. I think you can make a strong argument. I think you can make a strong argument. He was been the best safety on the team the last couple of years. But you just paid a 28 year old safety, a lot of money. Can you pay another 28 year old safety, a lot of money, both of whom are box safeties, physical safeties? I think you already picked. You picked Dugger over Peppers and therefore, I don't know that I can do a long term deal unless he really wants to take a team friendly deal. Can I say that I don't necessarily love your answer? And that's mostly just because I'm a Gabrielle Peppers fan as well and I love the way the guy plays the game. I think he's a bit of a non-reluctant leader. He wasn't afraid to tell Saint Juan Barkley what he thought of the team last year, probably my favorite, the true exactly, the truth. You lucky we ask. He hits like a freight train, Devontae Adams, who I got a fun little clip to share with you on the next break from the new receiver series on Netflix, Devontae Adams remembers real well what it's like to go over the middle and run into Jibrill Peppers and what number he wears because it was stamped on him last year and that he'll be gotten game out in Las Vegas as well. I love the way Peppers plays the game and I'm also surprised. Is Kyle Dugger actually 28? Did he enter as that old because he was like a six year Lenore Ryan player, right? Yeah. Division two, Lenore Ryan, the whole, his sort of road was elongated. Yeah. He's 28. Wow. That's the lead that accidentally got buried in that analysis right there. Kyle Dugger is older than you think. Yeah. I think they actually kind of did just choose Andy. You're right. They chose. They more than likely have chosen Kyle Dugger over Jibrill Peppers. Now, Kyle Dugger was set to make near top of market value. As a matter of fact, this week, ESPN was running a series of behind the paywall ESPN plus top 10 breakdowns, basically what they were. They were less anonymous, anonymously GM's executives and such from around the league helped ESPN put together a top 10 list of the best players at every position on the football field. And of all those top 10 lists, quarterbacks, running backs, tight ends, receivers, offensive lineman, defensive lineman, linebacker, safeties, cornerbacks, et cetera, do you know how many patriots made all of those lists? The, I'm going to say one. That's right. And who was it? Kyle Dugger. Correct. He finished number eight in a random anonymous polling of GM's executives and coaches across the league. He's the eighth best safety. So he got paid like it. He got paid basically top of market by his team. Jibrill Peppers didn't factor into the top 10. If you were to try to resign him, even though there is age and positional redundancy in that they're both that high-grid linebacker safety tank, box safety, whatever you call them. What do you think is the kind of deal that would get a Peppers long term? What's he want? Three for 30 maybe? Um, I bet you he would take that. That sounds like a pretty good deal with like 17 million guaranteed, something like that. Um, we're pretty good at these hypothetical contracts, if I may, just, yeah, and again, I like him and on that deal, like I would give that deal to him if I hadn't given the deal already to Dugger, but you know, I think we talked a lot about this heading into free agency. I'm not the biggest Dugger fan. I probably would have let Dugger walk, um, even though you had a boatload of money and you still lead the league in cap space available right now at like 45 million or whatever the hell the number is, um, I just don't know long, I think you might be a better team long-term with Jibrill Peppers on a more palatable contract than what you gave Dugger for who he is as a player, even the leadership angle. Like you know, I talked about it previously, the Devers thing. You gave him a boatload of money and he doesn't want to be the face of the franchise. I think Jibrill Peppers is fine being a leader, not only on the field and in the locker room, but talking to the media, he's been a stand up guy. I don't know that Dugger loves that aspect of the job and whether I should or shouldn't look at it this way, when I give a player, if I'm giving a player a big contract like Dugger got to me, there's some, um, other value to that. Like I'm expecting you to step up and be a face, be a leader, be a voice, take on like more responsibility within this team. I think that comes with that salary and I'll be interested to see if Dugger, um, latches onto that or does more of that or is more comfortable doing that now that he has the stability financially. See, I like that maybe, maybe Kyle Dugger is a quiet leader. Maybe he's a great locker room presence, maybe he's one of those guys, the teammates would say like, I'd go to the mat, I'd go to war with this guy. He's great. I love him. He's a tone setter. He's, he's our quiet leader. I love the, I love the loud mouths. I love the guys who set the table and set the tone who aren't afraid to, you know, rock the microphone and all the same way that they, they rock tight ends and linemen and yep, like Judon, Judon is a vocal leader, vocal spokesman, probably the most popular patriot. The last three years, post Brady, uh, probably is thanks to the red sleeves, the production, the talking, the lapa, you know, with the fans doing the, the ball toss with the fans, the whole thing. He probably is. And I think that probably plays into his mindset, his value, not only do I produce on the field, I'm one of your more marketable mainstay players. You're in a bridge trans transition here. You lean on me. You need me in a certain way to be a star, to be on WEI with Greshen Fourier every week and do these various things. Come to the podium every promise to get extra money for that. That's a tough, that's a tough spot. That is hazard pay at the utmost. That's like living in Mexico City with the bad air or something. Um, but yeah, no, like, and I, I understand Judon. I just think you're 32 years old coming off a season in which you played four games. That right there, just those numbers, I tell you, player X is a pro bowler. Really good player, great teammate, great leader is 32 and is coming off a season in which he played four games. Right there, you know, his value is down. Correct. Doesn't matter who the player is. And a guy at the same position, maybe a little bit better, just retired at that same age. Aaron Donald. And did you say maybe a little bit better? No, Aaron, I'm saying Aaron Donald is better than Judon. Yeah. You said maybe a little bit better. Um, that's like saying Tom Brady maybe is a little bit better than Bayley's bro on Dave. Well, you didn't see the air quotes that I put in there. Jesus, Jim and he, Joseph Aaron Donald's one of the top five defensive players in the history of the game potentially. Anyway, yes, people, it's a retirement age. It's certainly an age where production dips or, you know, von Miller, you know, you may think you're going to play a long time at a high level, but injuries and lack of sacks tend to come when you're a pass rusher entering your thirties. That's just the harsh reality of, of mother nature, father time, whatever the hell you want to call it. So, and Matthew Judon, I again, appreciate what you've done for the team, but you thinking you're in a world that, you know, 15 sacks gets you a 20 plus million, not a 32. It doesn't. Yeah. That's a problem. He's 30. He's on the wrong side of 30. It's a tough, it's a tough year, a tough time, tough place to try to bargain and negotiate from because you did have a torn bicep, you did miss three quarters of the season, you are on the other side of 30. And while he probably still can get after the QB pretty ferociously for another couple of years, if you're the Patriots, you know, do you want to potentially stunt your ability to pursue other free agents that you may find that you need because you're not sure how the tight imposition is going to shake out after 100 Henry, you don't know if these rookies at wide receiver or if KJ Osborne are going to fit a new England and if they can play at a high level as well after you lost out on Calvin Ridley, though I think that may be a blessing in disguise, you know, if if you're going to, and you've got like Josh Uche now, I think Judon's a far better player than Josh Uche, he's only back on that one year, $3 million prove a deal and so much so. Oh, I had other offers out there. Okay. Then why is that why you fired your agent, why you fired your agent? You know, you want to see what's going to happen with Keon White, but there's no definitive heir apparent to replacement for Judon now. You need him. I like your idea of trying to find that. All right. You want to kneel Hunter money and we supposedly, I think Chad Graft said that there is officially an offer out there, but this week also a bard reported that Judon is not likely to play on the current amount of money he's making, which is only six and a half or seven and a half million dollars this year. So well, salary, salary. No, overall, he's made 54 and a half million. That was his four year deal Andy and his cap number is the highest on the team at 14 and change. Yeah, it's big. So like the bonus money that's pro rated that counts. That's how NFL contracts work. So the people that just want to throw around always only making six and change this year. Yeah, that's, that's his salary. And I believe he has bonus per game bonus money for like another million bucks, but NFL contracts, you have to bring in the mindset of the bonus money counts like you, you wanted that upfront. You got bonus money upfront. That's still, you have a high cap number and he is he, there's plenty of guys making more than that at his position. You know, the TJ Watts, the hunters, the, there's a lot of past rushes. I don't know how many guys at the age of 32 got a new deal. I mean, Von Miller is the old guy that got a big new contract. And when he signed it with the bills, I think we all thought, well, that's stupid and it has been stupid. Oh, it's been awful for them. It's been like, they would probably tell you, I'm sure Brandon Bean, Joe, Shane, anyone possibly associated with the bills in years past or up to date would say, yeah, we probably shouldn't have done that one. That one really didn't work out too well for us. Yeah. He signed a six year, $120 million contract because he had just won a Super Bowl. So he was it. He had the leverage. He had the perfect bargaining chip at that. And that was two years ago, right? Because he's he's 35 now. So he was 33. So at 33, 35, my God, what a horrible deal. Yeah, we set that at the time and we were right. And if, if I, I'll go on the record right now, if they gave, let's say they gave Matthew Judon four years, $100 million, $25 million a year, which puts him in the middle of the range of higher end pass rushers, I would take the Doug Mirabelle motorcade to Gillette and slap Elliot Wolf outside the head. Thank you. It'd be a disaster. It'd be a dumb thing to do. So Matthew Judon, I love you, appreciate what you've done, but we're not going to make the same mistake that the Buffalo Bills did. So what do you think Pat's fans? Would you sign peppers? Would you sign judon? Would you sign both or would you sign neither? I would sign peppers. I think Andy would like to as well, but right now he's going to err on the side of caution and let him both play it out and walk. We'll see how it shakes out six one seven seven seven nine seven ninety three seven. There's your telephone number. Just one of the many clips that do many things this one in particular showcases a couple of things I think would be of particular interest to patriots fans that clip was from the very compelling intriguing and rather interesting dare I say Andy first ever inaugural hard knocks off season edition featuring the New York football Giants now in addition to just being good quality off season content which we all need to get us through to training camp and ultimately the season which kicks off in holy smokes carry the 10 for a pretty soon season kicks off pretty soon September 5th we've got Ravens at chiefs and then Sunday the eighth one o'clock you got the patriots and the bingles in the naddy as the kids like to call it so it's right around the corner folks whether you like it or not though we don't want to wish away any of these precious beautiful days of summer so that's really fun content number one number two it shows you exactly why so that was Brian Daybell doing a combine interview with Drake May to me Andy that clip showcases to a large degree why there was such interest from the New York football Giants in Drake May that they is so much so that it validates all the rumors we heard about them wanting to trade up from six to three and get him you can see and then subsequently you see the Jaden Daniels combine interview with Brian Daybell and the Giants that one doesn't go nearly as well you could see not I won't say a lust in the eyes of Brian Daybell for Drake May but you definitely could tell he was looking at him thinking all right this kid is way ahead of where I thought he would be he's very affable processes information quicker than I anticipated he definitely gets our offense which obviously has you know McDaniel's Airheart Weiss Perkins elements to it down there in New York as well now you understand why he would have wanted to trade up for him as well and also this should give people around here like take heart Pat's nation Drake May may actually understand football a lot more than people give him credit for as people try to make him you know Daybell thought I got my next Josh Allen maybe we do have the next Josh Allen but he's not playing for the Giants he could well be playing for the Patriots so I see really really I see why that clip resonated so well and you know why Daybell was so interested and why Pat's fans should be fired up for Drake May and why in December I started comparing Drake May to Josh Allen and people told me I was stupid it was ridiculous it didn't make any sense and all of those things and then you said that comment I just people it was and then you said Jason Tatum didn't want him on Team USA well no that's a totally different thing that's speculating this was just observation of talent it was not that hard to see and you know I'm certainly no Brian Daybell I haven't torn down and rebuilt Josh Allen the way he did and had the successes that they had together to me it was just obvious when you looked at Drake May the abilities he had were evident now I agree with you on the part that for those of you that are doubters this should make you feel even better about the pick okay Elliot Wolf loved him the Patriots loved him and oh by the way Brian Dable loved him to the point where they even checked out trading up to number two to potentially take him with the commanders that's additional validation I guess I would say this actual clip I think might be the most overrated thing since Brian Cox hit against the Colts in 2001 I there's a tone center he knocked he de-cleeded pathon bro yep yep biggest hit in the history of football according to some people this video because he can regurgitate what Brian Dable says doesn't if he was a stumbling bumbling fool it would bother me like there could be negatives in this video I actually thought he was confused at the end I think at the end when he says like ah gotcha Rita 72 he's like I didn't get you but glad you told me and I'll agree with you because you're the coach so I thought there was a little overrated nature to this but the big takeaway is Elliot Wolf Alex Van Pelt who's a QB guy Ben McAdoo Brian Dable all believe that Drake May is a top two to three pick in the national football league and a future franchise quarterback and not that they couldn't all be wrong because it's happened before but if I'm a Patriots fan it just makes me feel even better about the pick and the guy I have under center soon yeah I I think Patriots fans yeah sure we're probably blowing I won't say blowing this clip wildly out of proportions but we might be making a mountain out of something that is a glorified molehale yeah I you know it's fun to hear all those are those terms and words get thrown around again I think we used to hear a lot of Linda and Rita back in the day when Dable was here in the in the Brady era as well so could have been used as in high school could have been some nostalgia tingles to that as well but I you know hey listen just the fact it could there's also another clip we're not going to play because it's a little bit longer but there's another clip from the same episode where Joe Shane is talking to some of he's the GM of the New York football Giants and was there in Buffalo with Brian Dable a couple years ago they went together to try to fix the Giants there's a clip where he's telling some of his assistants like hey look across the other side of the stadium that's where the Patriots are I'm going to go over there and have a conversation with them and let them know if they decide they want to move the third pick give me a call and let me know and then subsequently we see an off-camera conversation between Elliot Wolf and Joe Shane where Joe Shane basically tells them like hey look if you're going to move three before you do it give me a call so I can make an offer like they were hot on the trail of Drake May now look a couple of years from now we may say the Giants may be like well dodge that bullet wish we dodged the Daniel Jones one but we didn't get Drake May or they might say damn it we should have offered the moon the sun and more to get up to two or one and find a way to take our guy I think Drake May is going to be you've sold me I'm in you know I'm not the full-blown maniac that you are at this point but I am in on Drake May and I love seeing that other teams that we're looking for a future franchise under center like the Giants we're in on him as well Andy I got some other stuff I want to ask you about the Patriots real quick but at first let's get back to the phones our friend Tom is in Boston wants to talk Pat's defense with us what's up Tom hey man I'm a big fan hey appreciate you thanks for calling oh great to hear you buddy thanks yeah you I was you and your guy you were throwing the ball around you go you're like it's Tom Brady throw to James White it killed me I wish you would do that stuff again I just wanted to say that before I give it a shot thank you brother what's on your mind today my guy all right so I think we should stop worrying about the cap since we have a limited cap space relatively to the rest of the NFL next year we even have like 200 million maybe less now that we've refined some players but money isn't the problem the cap's going to go up like 20 million a year let's just refine all our defensive players go go all in as a defensive veteran defensive team and then just build our offense and our special teams through the draft and like the next two drash just go all in on offense I love Drake May I think we go good doing wide receivers our line is you know it's a little shaky but you know that's another thing just keep drafting keep adding keep plugging you know and just kind of preserve the veterans we have because we're already so young we don't you know what I mean we can take 30 year old players like I get you know when you're you know two times Super Bowl champion and you have stars at every position and they're all Pro Bowlers and they all cost a lot you got a kind of budget you got to you know spend your money wisely you know that makes sense but when you're a team that's four and thirteen and you have nobody you should be able to sign everybody and I think they should sign everybody especially you know and you know if you're a bad team you want to reward good players you want there to be you know something to get out of being a good player a good person a good human being and then my final point is you know we want to help out Drake May what if we got him a defense pick up stops so that you know if he threw him a pick you know he doesn't have to you know cry in his pillow he's like you know there's there's going to be another day there's going to be another drive my defense is going to get a stop so you know I think that's just all things to think about and you know I think you guys are great and I'll let you go and you know let me know what you say well appreciate the call Tom thanks very much my man and his line is open if you guys want to jump in the Pat's pool at six one seven seven seven nine seven ninety three seven you know there can be an argument made Andy that because the Patriots defense I know I've I've been more on the side of buying in on the idea that they could be a top ten maybe even top five as some say unit in league this year they finished seventh overall last year now hopefully you get judon coming back hopefully I said you get judon playing on this current salary or maybe you extend him maybe you get a full season out of Christian Gonzalez hell maybe we even get a cameo again from Marcus Jones who missed last year Alex Austin's improving you got bar more on his big four year ninety two million dollar deal which I think both of us believe to be money well spent maybe there's an argument to be made just continue to pay the defense that is performing at a high rate and keep throwing all your draft darts at the offense in hopes that you land elite wide receivers you got your quarterback and you can get some of that talent that you could help make a playoff push with yeah I mean it's not a ridiculous call you don't have endless funds there is a salary cap you it feels like you do right now because you do have a lot of cap space now and and coming in the future but you have issues and holes like we're talking about a pass rusher who didn't play last year you're going to give him a raise well what if he doesn't play pay play this year you don't still don't have a pass rusher you may feel great that judon you kept him on your roster but if he's heard again which is not outside the realm of possibility for a 32 year old who has gone down the injury road I just it was a very cut and dry call I still think you need to be smart and otherwise you look back in a year or two and say why'd we sign Steve Pierce why'd we sign Chris sale like sometimes in the moment it's like just sign them just sign everybody it'll be great and then you close the Super Bowl hero I mean a world series hero yeah and then you look back even with the Celtics like it's now is the time to sign everybody and then you may look back and say that poor zingus he's been nothing but injuries ever since they won that title kind of thing and even while they were winning that title so sometimes you know when you look back the contract doesn't look quite as palatable as when you were talking yourself into oh we got plenty of money why not do it now and then I would also say this is a team that needs now maybe you nail some of these in the draft but needs a number one receiver well number one receivers cost thirty million dollars a year like that's a big chunk of the salary cap and needs a left tackle left tackles cost what twenty five million dollars a year so the one yeah the top of the market is over twenty for sure right if you're looking to sign those guys and and or pay those guys somehow someway trade for one of those guys and pay him you're talking about fifty five million dollars in calories salary cap space essentially right there and so that's on the horizon and then we talk about some of these other things like a free safety well you'd like a nice one of those or an actual second corner because Jonathan Jones looks like he's you know getting a little longer in the tooth and has dealt with some injuries in recent years and the past Russia so the cap space that is pretty available now when you're talking about premium positions like past Russia past protector past catcher you can eat up a lot of cap space in a hurry did you all have a little Freudian slip there instead of saying salary cap say calorie sap because that's what you did on awaken 180 got it in for you nice well done I don't even need it and I'm these are pips yep see there you go you're welcome quickly checking right now you know I see what Tom is saying and the funny thing is he's actually kind of right in so much well but the problem is defense doesn't win that's the other issue but it keeps you in games until you can your offense who it keeps you in games I want to win games the offense is not so many games the last couple years it's absurd offense wins and that's what we need to remember and offense loses we can't loss them a whole lot of games last year oh absolutely it can give it then it can take if I think Drake may may live both sides of that coin this fall oh his name is going to be his name is going to be said with the F word in various parts of his name throughout the season good and bad yes correct Drake F and May is our quarterback and after Drake F and May what that F for you do how many different ways can we say that and we kept it radio friendly everybody don't have to turn the channel I was listening to 15 heart and they were dropping F bombs everywhere plus we'd be fired when when we're ready trust me we'll cluster oh I'm going down in a blazer glory that's a promise checking over the cap calm right now um Patriots actually have 44 million in cap space right now yeah they could afford so back to our conversation from the last break if they wanted to they could go hog wild and sign Matt Judon and Jeff Gilmore sure bring in Steph Gilmore to play free safety this year sign him to a to trade for Brandon I you all these things are doable or your boy see Higgins out in Cincinnati between the two by the way if you say it would cost the same I don't know I don't care what the cost is in terms of trade value and salary between the two you still prefer Higgins over I I actually think I would go I you know but I'll take you watch a little receiver huh what's that now you've been watching any of that receiver show no but is that where that um Devonta Adams clip came out with him saying how miserable he was and he can't he hates this effing day I was actually gonna I wanted to try to play that it's the greatest clip I've ever heard I can't believe they put it out oh he's so he's so I'm telling you uh Omaha productions to have to sit here and do some ball washing for Peyton Manning or the Manning brothers in general as a Pat's fan kills me actually it doesn't really because Peyton Manning in my estimation is underrated for all of his contributions to the game on the field and more even if you know he played for the whiny bitch Colts and even if he did get a shipment sent to him I mean excuse me his wife I mean him and all the other I don't care I don't care he was a phenomenal quarterback he helped change the game he was part of the greatest quarterback rivalry of all time and Omaha productions is killing it the Manning cast is fantastic content especially if the game is boring as great as I think Joe Buck and Troy Ekman are together in the booth they're the number one football team hands down these days but this last year's last summer's quarterback series was great receiver is even better George Kittle awesome Deebo Samuel awesome Justin Jefferson watching his tour you're going through a whole season with these guys I'm on Ross St. Brown dude you are gonna wish your last name was St. Brown after you watch the show Andy because did you know his dad was too tight was the two time Mr. Universe uh yeah I did know that they are such hardos in the Brown family but he's also got a sense of humor he's memorized his wife based on breeding yeah he's he's he's memorized the name of all not like we're not talking about the Brady ten or the Brady six or whatever it is the all the quarterbacks taken before him or whatever it's not Cromarti trying to name all 11 of his kids and Tyree Kil is catching up quickly now that he's got a name at least 10 that we know of uh I'm on Ross St. Brown can read you off the name of all 16 receivers drafted before him a couple years ago and the guy got paid and he has a hard ass like it's just it's so good it is so interesting but you get some sneak peeks on San Francisco because they're covering Kittle and Deebo and I think I actually would go for Ioke as well but I take either right now I take sure I would take them the rest can fall into place and then I can be excited about Polk and Baker but not put pressure on him and Demario Douglas and all those guys and just let them come into their own behind the guy with the pressure alright we'll share that clip from the receiver show in just a couple minutes when we come back in our final break before we take you right up until 3 10 p.m. with the Mass Mutual of Red Sox pregame show in anticipation of first pitch today 4 10 p.m. big one between the Royals and Red Sox from Friendly Fenway Park we'll do that plus Andy just mentioned Demario Douglas could we have a pop star in the making and is there a chance that maybe he could be your next new favorite patriot we'll discuss that in our final segment here talking Pat's Fitzy and Hart only on WEEI. The end of the deep territory looking for Adams and he missed it he was all alone that will be as open as demand is going to be in his life. A little more sneak peek behind the scenes of what's going on on the new receiver series all eight episodes are currently streaming on Netflix Andy I'm telling you I love quarterback I'm not sure if everyone else at the station or around the greater parts of WEEI's reach and Pat's nation loved it as much as I did this receiver series is fascinating there's an episode two you get to go on a long ride with Justin Jefferson as he's trying to get his new big contract as well and he gets injured and he's a fascinating character because he goes into jet mode I guess he calls it or he's Justin Jets and that's when he becomes like a ferocious competitor but otherwise he's just like a really sweet actually a really sweet mama's boy with a wicked sweet tooth my god how that guy stays in that kind of shape and plays at that high level and eats that much candy I'll never have any idea but also there's an episode Devontae Adams in one of these games gets this is that was him there super frustrated with Jimmy Garoppolo because of Garoppolo missing a lot of passes a lot of the hospital balls that Jimmy G was throwing but you see in one episode Devontae Adams basically what do you call it the eight he like he hurts his AC joint I want to say he gets like a singer is that maybe at Andy I mean those are sort of two different things but yeah shoulder okay bad shoulder injury he's in serious pain on the field you see what these guys he goes back in he thinks they have a chance to win this game and he wants to get back out there he's already got his huge deal like he's got all his guaranteed money you see how amazing his house is how amazing his family and beautiful wife and the eleven million dollar house or whatever it was in Vegas like he's got a hundred something million dollars guaranteed yet he still puts himself in his body on the line goes in gets the pain killer shot guy couldn't move his arm but alone raise it over his head gets the shot five minutes later comes out can move his arm perfectly well everything's fine like wow you it's it's just a great peak for the football fans who don't see this kind of stuff happening in action like it's unfiltered it's raw I cannot recommend it enough cannot recommend it enough yeah I might have to so it's all available now right all eight episodes yes yeah I might have to you're gonna do it into that like honestly go to the like get on the boat today go to the beach you know couple gansets here if you millers for you and actually I can you know I'm gonna go to the beach later the kids are currently putting together we get our first spike ball I know isn't that a heart family special well yeah I mean it's it's very physical you could pull a muscle you could get hurt fits he could have a bad cap again very very soon we don't and we don't want that it does it is right so I should stretch in hydrate yeah and it's it takes a little getting used to it is not a just roll out of bed and play backyard game it's a little more physical and a little more strategy than than the usual my corn holes in my usual yard games corn hole or or like we like can jam like pretty much anybody can play can jam it's easy and in the over under on elbows you've thrown during spike ball has to be at least four and a half right oh yeah I play a physical style get out the way move move like it move twitch get out the way exactly get out the way twitch get out the way all right well we'll say anyway long story short after a day you know rock a few glizzies enjoy this beautiful weather sit down tonight and take in a couple episodes you will not regret it I promise sounds like a bowl of ice cream and a couple episodes of the receiver could be in my future maybe a little fresh dairy a little blue bunny who knows uh you're gonna love it you're absolutely gonna love it but just that insight there devante Adams like are you surprised that that's out there no like he's still on the Raiders that I can't believe and oh by the way how about Aaron Rodgers saying this week at a golf tournament uh love devante Adams can't wait to play with him again what do you know Aaron Rodgers hmm reveal your sources sorcerer that's not good to the rest of the sea east if they acquire him um real quick um a little heads up if you will uh on what's coming up tomorrow in the sunday seven as I uh took your mantle for one final week and wrote our wei.com sunday news and notes column for Pat's nation uh I wonder if if he can stay healthy and I know it's a big if because he is diminutive uh he's a he's a we fella and he did have a little bit of a concussion issue last year which really gives me pause and makes me worry a whole lot but if he can stay healthy if he learns to get down and get out of bounds do you think that with the combination of Jacobi Brissette quality veteran and then Drake May who's gonna need uh a slot machine a third down option somebody who's quick gets open in a phone booth or an Italian sports car and can turn on the jets do you think there's a chance this could be the year of pop Douglas can he pop will he be the pop star can pop in the attic can tomorrow Douglas become a thing this year Andy um can he become their best thing sure I don't know if he'll become like a league wide type thing uh I do think he has the potential to catch a lot of footballs if he's healthy I mean he caught forty something in a partial rookie season a year ago only played thirteen fourteen games I believe terrible quarterback play forty six catches five hundred sixty one yards eleven and a half yard uh average perception could he uh come close to doubling that maybe it wouldn't stun me if he can stay on the field and you mentioned it how did you phrase it he had a little concussion issue or something like that is there any such thing no there are kind of a big deal they are most definitely a big deal and that's that's what that position we've seen it with Edelman we've seen it with Welker more you know longer into their careers to have it right out the gates at that position because you're looking for him to be the next great maybe Patriots slot receiver you know Drake may he gets open in a phone booth or whatever you know like there is a reason for excitement it's obvious when and it's not just the social media videos when you're down at camp you watch passing camps he can get open he is quick he is a tough cover in the slot um I think he could lead the team in receptions absolutely now what that number is and whether that's just sort of stat accumulation on a bad team or it's the basis of the offense in conjunction with Romandre Stevenson there's some debate how that plays out but if you made me pick somebody right now to lead the Patriots and receptions I would absolutely pick uh pop Douglas yeah I mean I know how much you love all those you know uh footwork king flight school flight skills all those off-season training videos i gotta say is the juice and the squeeze I gotta tell you though the the the pop Douglas ones are really I mean he looks like he's running at a different speed than a hundred percent receiver if you told me I had to cover him I would just say no like I can't there's stupid I'm not going to embarrass myself I'm not good he plays at that you're right it's like he's at a slightly different speed he has that quickness I would say and maybe this is me being you know disrespectful I feel like he looks as good doing that stuff as any of them that played the position Troy Brown West Welker Julian Edelman just raw I'm not talking about on on a game field I'm just saying watching him do the quickness drills type things yeah he might be the quickest that I can recall now turning that into Edelman Welker Troy Brown production totally different thing yeah he's he's a fun guy to watch run around he is I it's amazing I honestly think like there was one clip of him running up a hill at top speed and then turning around and someone threw him a bomb and it was way way past him and just stuck in his left hand for those rare football fields that have a a hill in the middle yeah it's actually they're going to play at Enron in the early two right or a minute made whatever you call it done in Houston now I'm just saying like he there's something there could be some plus also like good looking kid get the million dollar smile everybody likes him very affable like the stage is definitely set like the table is set for if he again if he can stay healthy for pop dog was to be a bit of a thing this year in the past can I throw the opposite end of the spectrum and they need a they need a star like they have no top 10 players just go right ahead please that's what you're here for if he stays healthy is there any chance that Juju Smith Schuster leads the team in receptions oh absolutely not yeah I don't think so either is he how about this is he even going to make the team I don't think so I don't think so because I also don't think he's healthy no I know he said he's a hundred percent but like yeah I think his he's he may be a hundred percent for what he is but that's like saying my truck with two hundred and ten thousand miles is that a hundred percent it's not what it was when it was new gets the job done still rolling right along nicely but you there's some wear and tear on that vehicle just like there is on Juju's knee that will never be the same so no I don't think it's 100% is is relative like it's it's got a new it's 100% is 50% of what it's all the 100% used to be yeah right like he might feel better than he did last year at this time but that doesn't mean he's a spring chicken ready to go out there and carry the offense nope not happening all right and thus wraps our patriots chat here on another fantastic saturday afternoon beautiful summer saturday fitsy and heart program it's been a pleasure broadcasting to and sharing our thoughts feelings takes and more with all of in just a few short minutes to the mass mutual pregame show hosted by the one and only joe while before the big game between the socks and the royals today from fenway i would like to end by sharing this clip one of my favorite clips one of my favorite memories as a red socks fan did you know that 25 years ago today junior today this happened at friendly fenway very larkin that's still one of the games that's selecting the reserves the pictures for this good wow well stay tuned Pedro doesn't look like he's losing anything two strikes on vaguille under gold slinging a man struck him out he's down do you remember that electric performance the two innings start in the 1999 all-star game where Pedro struck out five of six batters including a prime juiced up maguire sosa and bagwell oh my god prime Pedro was the best that was elite uh there's no question Pedro that's a cliche was must see tv in that era and that probably was the early beginning of the end of his career and arm troubles and losing the height of his skills to some degree he may have overdone himself getting amped up in that moment but as a showman it was freaking awesome and i gotta say as a showman these three hours have been awesome as well good job Andy great job joe braverman and thanks to all of you out there listening to us and making us part of your saturday programming don't miss the red socks game coming up
