I got to get the f*ck out of here for I'll lose my f*cking life. I ain't never been hit this many f*cking times in my career. Every game I get f*cked up. Deep frustrated. What is he doing out there? He's not getting to the ball. The rock water. The end of the deep territory. Looking for Adams and he missed it. He was all alone. That would be as open as Devante is going to be in his life. Wide football. (crowd cheering) This year is f*cking for daddy, bro. Just do a f*cking ball, man. It's hard to just f*ck. Yeah, that's a little more sneak peek behind the scenes of what's going on. On the new receiver series, all eight episodes are currently streaming on Netflix. Andy, I'm telling you, I loved quarterback. I'm not sure if everyone else at the station or around the greater parts of WEEI's reach and Pat's Nation loved it as much as I did. This receiver series is fascinating. There's an episode two, you get to go on a long ride with Justin Jefferson as he's trying to get his new big contract as well. And he gets injured and he's a fascinating character because he goes into jet mode. I guess he calls it or he's Justin Jets. And that's when he becomes like a ferocious competitor. But otherwise he's just like a really sweet, actually a really sweet mama's boy with a wicked sweet tooth. My God, how that guy stays in that kind of shape and plays at that high level and eats that much candy, I'll never have any idea. But also there's an episode. Devante Adams in one of these games gets this is that was him there. Super frustrated with Jimmy Garoppolo because of Garoppolo, missing a lot of passes, a lot of the hospital balls that Jimmy G was throwing. But you see in one episode, Devante Adams, basically, what do you call it? He like he hurts his AC joint, I want to say he gets like a stinger. Is that maybe it, Andy? I mean, those are sort of two different things. But yeah, shoulder, shoulder, okay, bad shoulder injury. He's in serious pain on the field. You see what these guys, he goes back in. He thinks they have a chance to win this game and he wants to get back out there. He's already got his huge deal. Like he's got all his guaranteed money. You see how amazing his house is, how amazing his family and beautiful wife and the 11 million dollar house or whatever it was in Vegas. Like he's got a hundred something million dollars guaranteed. Yet he still puts himself in his body on the line, goes in, gets the pain killer shot guy couldn't move his arm, let alone raise it over his head. Gets the shot five minutes later, comes out, can move his arm perfectly. Well, everything's fine. Like, wow, it's, it's just a great peak for the football fans who don't see this kind of stuff happening in action. Like it's unfiltered, it's raw. I, I cannot recommend it enough, can not recommend it enough. Yeah, I might have to. So it's all available now, right? All eight episodes. Yes. Yeah, I might have to. You're going to bid to do it into that light, honestly, go to the, like get on the boat today or go to the beach. Uh, you know, a couple of gansets here, a few millers for you. And, uh, actually I can, uh, you know, I'm going to go to the beach later. The kids are currently putting together, uh, we get our first spike ball. Oh, isn't that a heart family special? Well, yeah, I mean, it's, it's very physical. You could pull a muscle, you could get hurt. Fitsy could have a bad calf again very, very soon. We don't, and we don't want that it is, right? So I should stretch and hydrate. Uh, yeah. And it's, it takes a little getting used to it is not a just roll out of bed and play backyard game. It's a little more physical and a little more strategy than, uh, than the usual, my corn holes and my usual yard games, corn hole or, or like we like can jam. Like pretty much anybody can play can jam. It's easy. And the over-under on elbows you've thrown during spike ball has to be at least four and a half, right? Oh, yeah. I play a physical style. You need to get out the way. Move, move the way, move to it. Get out the way. Exactly. Get out the way, Twitch, get out the way. Uh, all right. Well, we'll say anyway, long story short after a day, you know, rock a few glizzies, enjoy this beautiful weather, sit down tonight and take in a couple episodes. You will not regret it, I promise. Sounds like a bowl of ice cream and a couple episodes of the receiver could be in my future. Maybe a little fresh dairy, a little blue bunny. Who knows? Uh, you're going to love it. You're absolutely going to love it. But just that insight there, Devonta Adams, like we say like that that's out there. No, not at all. He's still on the Raiders. That, I can't believe it. Oh, by the way, how about Aaron Rodgers saying this week at a golf tournament? Uh, love Devonta Adams. Can't wait to play with him again. What do you know, Aaron Rodgers? Reveal your sources, sorcerer. That's not good to be arrested. I see East if they acquire him real quick. Um, a little heads up, if you will, uh, on what's coming up tomorrow in the Sunday seven as I, uh, took your mantle for one final week and wrote our W E I dot com Sunday news and notes column for Pat's nation. Uh, I wonder if, if he can stay healthy, and I know it's a big if, because he is diminutive, uh, he's a, he's a, we fella and he did have a little bit of a concussion issue last year, which really gives me pause and makes me worry a whole lot. But if he can stay healthy, if he learns to get down and get out of bounds, do you think that with the combination of Jacobi per set quality veteran and then Drake May, who's going to need, uh, a slot machine, a third down option, somebody who's quick gets open in a phone booth or an Italian sports car and can turn on the jets. Do you think there's a chance this could be the year of pop Douglas? Can he pop? Will he be the pop star? Can I pop up in the attic? Can tomorrow Douglas become a thing this year, Andy? Um, can he become their best thing? Sure. I don't know if he'll become like a league wide type thing. Uh, I do think he has the potential to catch a lot of footballs. If he's healthy, I mean, he caught 40 something in a partial rookie season a year ago, only played 13, 14 games, I believe, terrible quarterback play. 46 catches, 561 yards, 11 and a half yard average perception. Could he, uh, come close to doubling that? Maybe it wouldn't stun me if he can stay on the field and you mentioned it. Now, how did you phrase it? He had a little concussion issue or something like that. Is there any such thing? No, their questions are kind of a big deal. Um, they are most definitely a big deal. And that's what that position. We've seen it with Edelman. We've seen it with Welker more, you know, longer into their careers to have it right out the gates at that position. Cause you're looking for him to be the next great, maybe Patriots slot receiver, you know, Drake May, he gets open in a phone booth or whatever. You know, like there is a reason for excitement. It's obvious when, and it's not just the social media videos, when you're down at camp, you watch passing camps, he can get open. He is quick. He is a tough cover in the slot. Um, I think he could lead the team in receptions. Absolutely. Now what that number is and whether that's just sort of stat accumulation on a bad team or it's the basis of the offense in conjunction with Romandre Stevenson. There's some debate how that plays out, but if you made me pick somebody right now to lead the Patriots and receptions, I would absolutely pick, uh, pop Douglas. Yeah. I mean, I know how much you love all those, you know, uh, footwork, king, flight, school, flight skills, all those off season training videos. Well, I'm going to say is the juice and the squeeze. I got to tell you though, the, the, the pop Douglas ones are really, I mean, he looks like he's running at a different speed than a hundred percent receiver. If you told me I had to cover him, I would just say, no, like I can't there. I'm not going to embarrass myself. I'm not going to get he plays at that. You're right. It's like he's at a slightly different speed. He has that quickness. I would say, and maybe this is me being, you know, disrespectful. I feel like he looks as good doing that stuff as any of them that played the position. Troy Brown, West Welker, Julian Edelman, just raw. I'm not talking about on, on a game field. I'm just saying watching him do the quickness drills type things. Yeah. He might be the quickest that I can recall now turning that into Edelman, Welker, Troy Brown production, totally different thing. Um, yeah, he's, he's a fun guy to watch run around. He is, I, it's amazing. I honestly think like there was one clip of him running up a hill at top speed and then turning around and someone threw him a bomb and it was way, way past him and just stuck his left hand. For those rare football fields that have a, a hill in the middle. Yeah. It's actually, they're going to play it Enron in the early two, right. Or a minute made, whatever you call it done in Houston. No, I'm just saying like he, there's some, there could be some plus also like good looking kid, got the million dollar smile. Everybody likes them. Very affable. Like the stage is definitely set. Like the table is set for if he can, again, if he can stay healthy for pop, pop Douglas to be a bit of a thing this year on the page. Can I throw the opposite end of the spectrum and they need a, they need a star. Like they have no top 10 players. Just go right ahead, please. That's what you're here for. If he stays healthy, is there any chance that Juju Smith, Schuster leads the team in receptions? Oh, absolutely not. Yeah, I don't think so either. Is he, is he, how about this? Is he even going to make the team? I don't think so. I don't think so. Well, I also don't think he's healthy. No, I know he said he's 100%. But like, I think his, he's, he may be 100% for what he is. But that's like saying my truck with 210,000 miles. Is that 100% it's not what it was when it was new. Gets the job done still rolling right along nicely. But there's some wear and tear on that vehicle. Just like there is on Juju's knee that will never be the same. So no, I don't think it's 100% is relative. Like it's, it's got a new, it's 100% is 50% of what it's old. It's 100% used to be. Yeah, like he might feel better than he did last year at this time. But that doesn't mean he's a spring chicken ready to go out there and carry the offense. Nope, not happening. All right. And thus wraps our Patriots chat here on another fantastic Saturday afternoon. Beautiful summer, Saturday, Fitzy and Hart program. It's been a pleasure broadcasting to and sharing our thoughts, feelings, takes and more with all of you. You, of course, can go to the six rings in football, things, feed, subscribe today and catch the Saturday WEI programming as a podcast as well. Or use the Odyssey app and Andy, because we are on our way in just a few short minutes to the mass mutual pregame show hosted by the one and only Joe Weil before the big game between the socks and the royals today from Fenway. I would like to end by sharing this clip. One of my favorite clips, one of my favorite memories as a Red Sox fan. Did you know that 25 years ago today, Junior today? This happened at friendly Fenway. Barry Larkin that's still one of the games selecting the reserves to the pitchers for this. Wow. Stay tuned. Pedro doesn't look like he's losing anything. Two strikes on Bagwell under goal, swinging the mass, struck him out. Do you remember that electric performance? The two innings start in the 1999 All-Star game where Pedro struck out five of six batters, including a prime juiced up Maguire, Sosa and Bagwell. Oh my God, prime Pedro was the best. That was elite. There's no question. Pedro, it's a cliche, was must see TV in that era, and that probably was the early beginning of the end of his career and arm troubles and losing the height of his skills to some degree. He may have overdone himself getting amped up in that moment, but as a showman, it was freaking awesome. And I got to say, as a showman, these three hours have been awesome as well. Good job, Andy. Great job, Joe Braverman. And thanks to all of you out there listening to us and making us part of your Saturday programming. Don't miss the Red Sox game coming up. Enjoy your Saturday, folks. Be kind to the kiddos and if you have too many, make sure someone else is behind the wheel tonight because we all want to enjoy the rest of the weekend and the rest of the summer together. We'll see you everybody. Thanks. (upbeat music)
