The army is slashing the size of its force by about 24,000 and restructuring to be better able to fight the next major war. The conference board says consumer confidence slipped in February. There are more worries about a possible recession. Its index measures current economic conditions and the outlook for the next six months. Today is primary election day in Michigan. The S&P 500 was virtually unchanged early Tuesday. The benchmark index is still holding near the record high. It's set last week. The Dow fell 141 points, it's about 410%. The Nasdaq composite was up 1/10th of a percent. And video was a heavy weight on the market as its stock took a breather following a jaw-dropping run. The chip maker, whose products are used to make AI applications, was off of that half a percent. Macy's rose more than 6% after unveiling a restructuring plan, Norwegian cruise lines steamed up 12% on hopes for a stronger 2024. Treasury yields were mixed in the bond market.
