This is AP News, I'm Rita Folle. We'll the government continue to function fully after Friday, the president's meeting with the top four leaders of Congress about spending and some other pressing matters today. AP Washington correspondent Sagar Magani. Parts of the government could start to scale back operations as soon as Friday, unless Congress gets a spending bill to the president. The Senate's top two officials are urging the GOP-led House to work with them on preventing a shutdown. The president will also use the Oval Office's meeting to push lawmakers to approve emergency aid for Ukraine and Israel. President Biden's been talking about the Israel Hamas war, indicating a ceasefire could be close. But this morning, both Israel and Hamas are downplaying the idea that a breakthrough is imminent. Its primary day in Michigan, Donald Trump's expected to win the GOP contest. The Republican front-runner told Michigan voters last week, "If you want to save America then you must vote." For President Joe Biden, it will be a test of the division in the Democratic Party over his support for Israel. As many Arab Americans who live in Michigan are planning protest votes, like writing in "Uncommitted," campaign volunteer Varunda Patel. "These are the same people that are so vocal about what's going on, so clearly they care." She says many Democrats aren't paying attention to the primary. In Detroit, voter Terry Johnson has this view. "I don't see the excitement that was there during the first time that Obama ran. What I see is despair. What I see is lack of hope." I'm Jackie Quinn. Three people arrested and charged with murder in the killing of a man on a New York City subway car. This was last week, police say the victim had gotten into an argument with one of the suspects and was shot dead. Macy's is announcing that it's going to close 150 stores. This is AP News. We don't know yet exactly why this is happening. The AP's Karen Schonas reports that Prince William will not attend a memorial service, as expected. Since Prince William has pulled out of attending a memorial service for his father's cousin because of a personal matter, Kensington Palace announced the decision by the Prince of Wales to not attend the service for his godfather, Constantine II of Greece. The palace declined to elaborate on what the personal matter was, but said the Princess of Wales, who's recovering from abdominal surgery, continues to do well. Constantine died in January of last year at the age of 82. William's father, King Charles III, who's being treated for an undisclosed form of cancer, will also not be attending the service.
