This is AP News, I'm Rita Falway. Could there be a pause in the fighting between Israel and Hamas? President Biden says Israel would be willing to agree to that if there's a deal to release some of the hostages Hamas is holding. Negotiators are working on a deal. The AP is Jackie Quinn with this story. A proposed six-week pause would allow more aid to get into Gaza, which UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres says is desperately needed. Civilians are suffering apollingly and we see these most dramatically in the clear violations of international humanitarian law taking place. The UN's top court has ordered Israel to do all it can to limit the deaths and destruction throughout the Gaza Strip. I'm Jackie Quinn. Will the US government have to begin to shut down because of funding issues? Today President Biden meets with top congressional leaders to try to figure this out. Will also talk about emergency aid for Ukraine and Israel. The AP's Sagar Magani, with the latest on this. White House National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan told ABC News is this week when George Stephanopoulos, Ukraine badly needs the aid to keep fighting off Russia. The administration is also expected to stress the need for legislation to keep the federal government operating. The first trudge of funding will expire Friday and Senate Chief Chuck Schumer says there's no agreement yet to avoid a partial shutdown. Sagar Magani, Washington. Now to Donald Trump's appeal, the AP's Julie Walker. Donald Trump challenging the New York judges finding he lied about his wealth to get favorable loans. His lawyers filing the notice of appeal to overturn the ruling in the state attorney general's case against him, something the Republican front runner for president has been using as he continues to campaign for his party's nomination. The level of hatred from these judges is no way you get fair trials. The level of hatred from prosecutors. If Trump loses his appeal, he'll have to give up a sizable chunk of his fortune. The judge ordering him to pay 355 million in penalties with interest. That's grown to nearly 454 million. The total increasing by nearly 112,000 per day until Trump pays. Julie Walker, New York.
