Welcome to The One Life Podcast with Becca White. I am your host and this is episode 18 Reunions. I believe in reunions. I spent this past weekend in San Antonio and took advantage of the unseasonably mild weather and visited the Alamo, eight-like royalty at the Bigga on the Banks restaurant, enjoyed voodoo donuts, a night walk on the river walk, and a boat tour down the river. And of course, I got drenched from the humidity, my own sweat, and finally the torrential rain. The highlight of the trip was certainly meeting up with a college roommate who lives in San Antonio. Back in our single days, she was quite the entertainer and the fun and laughter that followed her kept our lives positive and upbeat. And during half-time of one of our basketball games, she was chosen out of the crowd and made a layup, a free throw, and a three-pointer to win the prize. I can't remember what the prize was, but she won it. That was a proud roommate moment there. Anyway, we've seen each other twice since our single adventures, once at my wedding and once at her wedding. Between the two of us, we now have 100 years of life experience and we had about 60 of those years to catch up on. We spent several hours together sharing our lives and our hearts. My friend is the same person she was so many years ago and also entirely new. I met her young son, who was quite the entertainer. Wonder where he gets that from. Reunions are good for the soul. Reconnecting with people we love lifts our hearts and spirits in ways that renew us and strengthen us. Why does this happen? It's not just the success of Celebrated or the hardships mourned. It is not just the memories. I'm not sure, but I think there is something magical about reunions because it is those people who understand where we came from that can truly appreciate where we are. Newer relationships build from what is but cannot fully know the person of so long ago. In addition to reconnecting with someone we love, reunions give us the opportunity to witness another's growth and to be truly seen by another. Who does your soul yearn to reconnect with? The invitation today is this. Send a text. Make a phone call. Reach out to someone you love that you maybe haven't connected with in a while. It will be good for your soul and extra good for theirs. We only get one life. Let's make it our best. [BLANK_AUDIO]
