This is AP News. I'm Rita Folle. We'll begin with the wildfires in Texas, the AP's Lisa Dwyer. Texas wildfires are rapidly expanding, fueled by surging winds. That's prompted safety warnings for several towns in the state's rural panhandle. The Smokehouse Creek Fire has more than doubled its size since it sparked Monday. The National Weather Service has issued red flag warnings and fire danger alerts and several other states throughout the mid-section of the country. As high winds of over 40 miles an hour, combined with warm temperatures, low humidity, and dry winter vegetation make conditions ripe for wildfires. I'm Lisa Dwyer. President Biden and Donald Trump have won their party's primaries in Michigan, but there are warning signs for both candidates. The AP's Joey Capiletti on Donald Trump. Studies of Republican voters in early voting states have shown that Trump's core voters so far overwhelmingly white and mostly older than 50 and generally without a college degree. That could be a warning sign for Trump, who will have to appeal to a much wider range of voters in November, especially in states like Michigan, which he lost by almost 155,000 votes in 2020. Michigan primary voters who chose uncommitted are a red flag for President Biden and his handling of the Israel Hamas War in Gaza and how it might impact his re-election campaign. Will the government begin to shut down within days due to spending issues? Congressional leaders who met with President Biden yesterday are talking optimistically about the prospects for avoiding a partial government shutdown, but still at acrossroads, assistance for Ukraine and Israel. Today, Texas will execute a man convicted of killing two people 24 years ago. Ivan Cantus says he's innocent and his conviction was based on false testimony and questionable evidence. This is AP News. Now to Alabama's Supreme Court ruling that called into question the future of some fertility treatments in the state. The Health and Human Services Secretary visited Alabama. Health and Human Services Secretary Javier Becerra visited a group of frustrated IVF patients in Birmingham. The ruling by the Alabama Supreme Court raises doubts about the future of some fertility treatments in the state. Becerra says the uncertainty is due to the U.S. Supreme Court ruling overturning Roe vs. Wade. When Roe went down and took away health care rights and access, it did it to more than just abortion care. For now, the treatments are on hold in Alabama. Governor Kay Ivey says lawmakers are working to clarify the conflict. And I anticipate having a bill on my desk very shortly. But Secretary Becerra says Congress may need to intervene to entrain protections nationwide. I'm Norman Hall. And I'm Rita Foley, AP News. Selling a little or a lot.
