AP News, I'm Ed Donne border security is shaping up to be a big issue in 2024. The two presidential frontrunners are in Texas at the border today. Former President Donald Trump is an eagle pass with him, Governor Greg Abbott. There's no reason for these people to be crossing between a horde of entry. If Biden wanted to do something about it, they got a port of entry. I absolutely remember one thing. No one drowns on a bridge. Yeah. And they drown trying to come across here, because Joe Biden entices them, if not forces them to come right. About 300 miles away in Brownsville is President Biden, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas is with him. Texas is seeing a reduction in encounters across across the board over what we experienced in December and immediately before then. The primary reason is the enhanced enforcement efforts on the part of the Mexican government. This is deputy White House press secretary Olivia Dalton. Obviously the events in northern Gaza are tremendously alarming and in deep concern to us. Deeply tragic loss of human life. Too many civilian lives have been lost as a consequence of military operations in Gaza. A wildfire scorching the Texas panhandle has grown to the largest in state history. They typically fight these fires with heavy equipment and the wind would shift and it would move in another direction and then these breaks that they made would be worthless. Containment of the Texas wildfire is only about 3%. This is AP news. Ski resorts have lost billions of dollars because of climate change. There have been a few big snow storms in recent weeks where outdoor enthusiasts could take advantage of the new snow. But human cause global warming is taking a big toll on the ski industry. About $5 billion since the year 2000. That's according to researcher Daniel Scott at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada. He says maybe people don't get too upset about losing a species half a world away. But they certainly care about winter sports. Warm weather in Maine forced the cancellation of a 250 mile dog sled race while in Minnesota. Golf courses opened up this month. I'm Jackie Quinn. Dan Heiser push in bev, maker of Budweiser and Bud Light reported better than expected net income in the fourth quarter despite lower beer volumes and a conservative backlash over an ad featuring transgender activist Dylan Mulvaney.
