This is AP News. I'm Rita Falle. President Biden and Donald Trump will each visit the U.S.-Mexico border today. Immigration is a big issue in the 2024 election. The president will be in Brownsville, Texas. Donald Trump will be an eagle pass. Now to those wildfires burning in Texas, one woman is known dead. The AP's Jennifer King reports. No massive wildfires are threatening to bring more destruction to the Texas panhandle. One blaze known as the Smokehouse Fire has burned 1,300 square miles, making it the second-largest wildfire in Texas history. Does Donald Trump have presidential immunity from criminal prosecution? The Supreme Court will decide. The AP's Sagar Magani. The Supreme Court says it will decide if Donald Trump can be prosecuted in his election interference case. Lower courts have rejected Trump's novel claims that former presidents have absolute immunity for actions falling within their official job duties. In appeals panel here in Washington, had ruled a federal judge was right to say that the case against Trump can proceed and he can be prosecuted for actions while in the White House and leading up to the Capitol riot. Overseas now, about 50 people are said to have been killed in a strike on a crowd of Palestinians waiting for humanitarian aid in Gaza City. Local hospital officials say it apparently was an Israeli strike. Russian President Putin is praising national unity as the fighting goes on in Ukraine. He's been delivering his state of the nation address this morning. Here at home, at least one person is dead. Several others injured in the shooting in Orlando, Florida. Few details at the moment. The state of Idaho had to stop the execution of serial killer Thomas Creech, a medical team couldn't find a vein after repeated attempts to set up an intravenous line to carry out the lethal injection. For us, it wasn't a difficult decision. It was the right decision. Corrections director Josh Tettwald says the goal is ensuring the process is carried out with dignity, professionalism and respect. When it reaches a point in that process at any step where it looks like we're going to be unable to do that, that's when we call it off. Audio from KIVI. Tettwald says they attempted to find sites in Creech's arms, legs, hands and feet. What's next is not clear.
