[Music] Hello and welcome to Blade's Pod, it is Wednesday the 31st of July, my name is Ben and I'm the line is Andrew, how are you mate? Yeah, long time no speak, it's my fault, it's my fault, it's my fault, the mum's been held, so I've been looking after it for a bit and we've just not made the schedules, me, otherwise so. We haven't and I'm glad to hear your mum's doing better mate. Yeah it's a bit of a very very stressful time but we're back and we're ready for it all over again. I mean so it's not entirely health related because so it's probably about three weeks since recorded because yeah just when we started recording we were just saying I'm not apart from you know messages on twitter and stuff. I don't think I've spoken to you since the euro's final when obviously we weren't in a very toxic mood so yeah like three weeks have gone past, partly there was supposed to be some news about the takeover about three weeks ago according to Danny Hall. It wasn't like it will be completed next week when it was a I expect to have some news to share next week and that didn't happen and then did happen the following week or the following week or the following week and now here we are it's the end of July there is three things almost over there's one friendly left which I believe is this weekend against Cruddersfield. The season kicks off a week on Friday for them blades. Now stuff has happened and we're going to run through it as I randomly throw my phone on the phone for no reason. We're going to run through it with a magical roulette wheel of news which I've used before and I'm going to use it again. I think we've got it's about 15 different items of news that I've put on here and we're going to hit them for a couple of minutes each and yeah we'll use that as I'm catching up on what's happened in the last three weeks I suppose. Next week I think we will do more of a like you know what is the state of play going into the season what we I think we'll probably do like a best case worst case scenario thing is a good because I've quite enjoyed that as a way of previewing. It's going to be interesting now because I do things we'll get to I think that it could be anything. The predictions might be way off each others because I think there's that much variables about what's going to happen. Yeah yeah absolutely. Right well shall I spin up the wheel mate and we'll see where we start. Here we go I don't know if you'll be able to hear this or the listener will be able to hear this but it shouldn't be a long spin but here we go. First out is Jaden Bogle signing for leads. Now this happened very quickly and yeah I want to know what you think of it really so he's joined leads for what do we know roughly how much we're talking here so we're talking like three to five million I think. Three to five million I think it'll be yeah obviously he's always undisclosed but the general noises are around I imagine it's about four million we add on just something like that but yeah that's that's the talk obviously in it so yeah so you know I think in January when we were kind of doing our you know do we do we let this player go at the end of the season or do we you know try and get them a new contract we had the I was very much in the keep balldoc try and sell Bogle now in January or let Bogle go and in the end we didn't we kept neither. Yeah it's gone from our strongest position and I think in our promotion season arguably we're too right back so you can sort of run your out on and say they're going to be good at the championship so we've lost both of them. I want to keep Bogle and get rid of all that pure because of the age thing got to be nappy the other way around. Look this this sale to me very man at this point we'd only brought four in and we've only brought one more in terms but I just thought like the reason I'm a more disappointed but it wasn't like a deal breaker with Bogle going it would just more well that's more work that we need to do with like including Triore I don't think he's on the wheel actually he is indeed on the wheel. Don't worry. Yeah well yeah I can't remember seeing him. I think by this point we'd have like 17 go and brought four in and I and I just thought this were a completely unneeded sort of position that we needed to fill all of a sort of but it seems like that money is paid for Burrells or the Troy room and he made paid for Burrell so to play leaving himself I don't think that big of a deal I think has got great potential but we're still really young and I think they've been good at this level but he never truly delivered today I don't think yeah I was pretty high on him when he like in that first season in the Premier League and then in the the first season back in the championship as well but you know particularly at that level this is a guy with such a spark going forward it could be like a real difference maker to us and I yeah I feel like weirdly quite ambivalent about him as a player as you said and him leaving I'm not I'm not that fussed about I think if I'm like and I hate to sort of reduce like football support to balance sheets but I think if you do just look at this as like a business but proposition if you like I think it is good business you know this is a guy who he was out you know we triggered a one-year extension on presumably had a pretty clear understanding that he wasn't gonna sign a new contract with us you know in the next 12 months and we've cashed it in we you know we've turned a play we were going to lose for nothing to into you know three to five million or something yeah this is not a burgundy sort of situation we're talking about neither is it this is a play that you can replace realistically probably the same amount of money I think I think so um yeah and I don't know if like you were always second choice when he never really wrestled if they were both fit bowl locker always played so you can't say that I don't think it's going to be a massive massive loss we'll see we'll soon see if that's going to be the case I do think in a good side like leads like I probably think I'll win the league at the moment um I imagine he'll be good and I'll imagine that I love him but once he got to the Premier League you I'm not sure if he's got it at the moment anyway yeah yeah I think that's fair that he's I think he's gonna have a good season with leads um and probably at best we'll just find someone as good as him that's not a guarantee it sounds like there's a um is he played for wolves this Hoover Hoover yeah it actually paid twelve million for him from Liverpool um actually I've got I've got the view of spoiler all I've got the view from uh news on him look I I've seen him a couple of times and I remember being fairly impressed I'm quite surprised at the view from that the Stolt fans are pretty much very much actually like we are we're boggle I'd say fifty-fifty I think off of them say this guy he's so good going forward he's one of our best you know they say he's the best finisher at Stolt last season for a right back he's a really good accolade um and but the other side is that he can't defend that seems the general feeling is that this guy's gonna be fantastic going forward but don't ask him to defend which is very similar to Boros actually so it's going to be interesting if we do go with the four at the back it's going to be like Kevin Keegan time yeah good job we've got such a recent pedigree of fine defending it's like a cathedral to inform for we'll just do that again and just score more than that as a rookie numbers if we score 104 it's already a cathedral from four but scored 400 I'm all for that yeah sure why not um yeah so I really just didn't really touch the sides for me this this sale to be honest I was like yeah I guess fair enough you know it's not ideal when you do have a player under contracts that we're you know replacing him with a player on loan um but then I guess you can look at it as like well you were only going to get a year of Bogle anyway if you know if it's if he was going to leave then and then of his contract so you kind of parlayed that into yeah paying for Boros getting a decent-ish replacement maybe even I don't know maybe even a slight upgrade yeah we don't know yeah obviously yeah um but yeah I think he'll probably um I think he'll probably do well for leads and there'll be points where we're like oh it's so annoying like you know watching him having like total freedom to bomb forward from from the back but um yeah not not one to really upset me apart from the fact we now have no right back at the club as it stands well like I said this guy from Wolves comes in at just I mean love I'm basing this purely on what their fans are saying because I've not watched every single game but it seems a very very similar sort of like for like replacement to be honest yeah I think so all right uh I'm gonna spin the wheel once more and get onto our next news item I think that one's disparate yeah and it is Harrison Boros so hey the other side this is an interesting one this because the most of the Peterborough fans he only really came into his own last season seasons before that because I'm always looking for threads and stuff on the Peterborough room and I've come across one from like two years ago and they hated him they were like get him out he's not good enough he'll end up in non-ling blah blah blah and then the the change seems to have come with him playing wing back left wing back and that just completely transformed you know the way that because he were an orthodox left back before he struggled and it's interesting again that in the friendlies we've gone before at the back and if we're gonna play Hoover at one side and Boros on the other I'm wondering if we might play Boros a bit further forward I'm not sure obviously we've not seen him in a friendly yet I just wonder if that's that maybe I think yeah maybe yeah the timing is not ideal this dragged on for ages like weeks and weeks and yeah he hasn't had a preseason at all he's not been involved in any friendlies I don't but did he come on against rather him now as we can so yeah he's uh we're kind of repeating some of the mistakes if you like or you know pitfalls from last season as well um trust is the one I'm interested was obviously a disaster full stop I can't excuse this is an excuse for it but he I think he signed just before our last friendly so very similar to Boros um and then he didn't start again for us till October he was like barely used so I think it does make a difference players coming in late as Boros really has I'm expecting us to start slowly if we start well I'm gonna be really optimistic about the season because I do expect to start slowly because I'm expecting at least another at least another four or five coming in adding to that Boros adding to that Shackleton looks like he's injured and he's not going to be playing that many preseason games and it's good we're gonna have to gel the team as we go again the difference between this and is doing that in the Premier League as we saw is in a complete disaster and you can't do it you need some sort of solid foundations I think they only struggle with that as well they sort of try to build a new team as they were going as well I think you can sort of get away with it in the championship but you have to be patient and we're gonna have to accept that we're probably gonna have a bad start yeah yeah uh hold that thought for next week I suppose I have some thoughts on that um I think this is unless I'm missing someone this is probably our most exciting signing of the summer like so far you know we have to go oh how hard I mean oh sorry yeah yeah um yes yeah 14 assists for Peterborough last last season in league one plus the six goals um the three this is going back what are we on two this is going back three years but he's like the last time he was in the championship it's obviously with Peterborough his um his scouting report numbers on football reference were really impressive it was like 87 yeah yeah attacking wise anyway um yeah just insanely high um shot creating actions numbers and expected assist numbers for uh compared to other fullbacks that's going back three years um they don't have that that's interesting though because that that doesn't tie into what the Peterborough fans have said on that thread that I found they were basically saying that he can put across him booty card defend and he need more from him but that was a very very poor Peterborough team if I remember rightly we've got relegated so it is and I should say he was part of that disaster at Hillsborough oh god he does have this one yeah he's off to a bad start for me in that book but yeah I am quite excited about this signing because obviously uh left back left wing back has been a disaster zone for us um basically ever since ender stevens fell off a um you know physical cliff three years ago interesting by the way before I forget on the hoover thing one of the comments says um he's not as good as ender stevens on the other side which is crap yeah but yeah I'm excited to see how he gets on um I hope we can build a team that doesn't require him to do too much defending that he can you know find find plenty of space out wide because I do think midfield currently um is very much the strength of the squad which we'll touch on as we spin this wheel I'm sure um but yeah I'm excited to see him I guess my just to throw a pessimistic devil's advocate take on it like what if he's basically just max low which is not impossible like this is the thing when you get someone from league one and it's all potential and stuff you don't know how they're gonna step up you you really really don't know ender stevens went from league two to championship and if you remember it's a it took him at least a season to get to the ender stevens that ended up being one of the best left wing backs in the Premier League it can be a big jump but then you look at George Baldock for it man do you even George Baldock he he wasn't as good in that first season as he was in the season after he's another one we might have to be patient with yeah like to say the interesting thing for me is where he's gonna play obviously we've brought my column in we've got burrows you can play trusty there you can play Robinson there and not in Davis is the forgotten man you know he he's he's still around as well so it's going to be interesting to see where we play him yeah signing two left backs doesn't um doesn't bode well for not in Davis I think or his fitness level yeah yeah I just think like uh you know if max low would play the full season for peter bro last year you know a good a good team in league one does he get six goals for inter-assist he might he might do like you know he was obviously really good for forest that season that they got promoted you know he's choking up the the assists and the chances great and stuff so I guess what I'm trying to say is like he might not be you know the best left back in the in the championship immediately he might be a good left back so I don't know I've seen a few people I don't know if you look online you see people saying anything but I've seen a few people kind of ready to crown like this is the end of Stephen's replacement you know yeah this is we've solved that position for ten years I would just uh let's wait and it's all right being positive but at the same time I do think don't put pretty if he's not it gets two bad games in a row I also think it's like you can't say oh my god we've actually been sold a puppy rubbish you know just look at all the other players and I'll like saying to Stephen's I think it's a great example I wanted him out of the team in that first chat I know you're an ender defender with you but I sort of like thinking we need to upgrade that's one of the pursuit and he absolutely proved me wrong they were fantastic season after it might take a season to look like he's only young he's only 22 so you know we'll see yeah so just uh yeah I think I made that point really badly and you made it much better it's just let's let's just like don't put too much pressure on him they don't expect him to be the best left back in the championship immediately I mean fantastic if he is if he's as good as uh yeah if he's as good in this league as he was in league one last season then happy days we are we're gonna be cooking on gas I think going forward anyway but um yeah it's I'm really glad to get our signing done um would have liked it obviously a month or so earlier but I guess you can't have kind of everything um yeah hopefully it gets up to I'm like assuming because this is quite a late this I just feel friendly with schedule quite late wasn't it um so I'm wondering almost if this friendly was scheduled purely giving me a chance to play some football yeah oh I'm assuming probably thought we might get a couple more signings in by this part as well so yeah all right uh spinning the wheel again for the next item on here some of these we probably won't have to talk about that as long but they uh it's landed on another interesting one it's key for more a player I feel like we've been destined to sign key for me is this this is like one of the most they're going to be a blade at some point signings possibly families from Sheffield I think everybody played for Barnsley for ages big lad up top get it launched into the box for Kiefer it was inevitable he was going to come and play for us at some point and there he is good sign very happy most Sheffield United's like player ever I think Kiefer I remember watching him for Wales in the Euro 2020 2021 it was obviously I think he scored in that I think he scored in that and I just remember like watching watching games on my dad and I was just saying um he he's so Sheffield United I mean he's just like this big guy up front who you know it's just calls I can I imagine I could be wrong I could be wrong I know a lot of people are excited by the signing I've got a feeling to be one of those again who divides opinion because he's not going to be a like a skillful player or someone who's sort of pacing stuff like that but he'll work hard and he'll be an app that some of our fans don't like that sort of player I've got a feeling by the end of November we'll give up we'll have like I don't know but after the fans calling him a donkey and after the fans bit like it but didn't I I suppose saying much better with him in the team yeah this feels like a very safe signing to me in terms of like I'm very confident that this is going to go well for us at least in the sort of short to medium term so he is is 31 now I was slightly surprised that we gave him a three-year deal was that right is 31 yeah 32 that's I've gotten over the line for the longer deal or so yeah it would be 32 by the time we kick off against Preston by the way yeah we're giving him a three-year deal now I don't know if that's going to be like maybe that's a two-year plus one type thing you know where we have like a an extension for that third years that's I imagine he's on quite decent money I think this is going to be a good signing now it might you know hurt us a little bit in three years time if we kind of tread water in the championship and we can't get rid of him because he's 35 years old and he's on big money but yeah I think for this season anyway I mean he's he is pretty much our only striker and he as we'll get on to with some of these yeah yeah I expect him to do really well yeah and I'm glad we've got him honestly because I think he gives he's a player that would definitely have benefited as last season it wouldn't have been the difference between you know finishing by now but we never never had a replacement for my bernay last season and yeah I'm up with the sound by the way when I'm saying like off the people I just think the way that it plays and the fact that he's a big guy and some people just don't like that sort of football really and that's why I think he might divide opinions but I don't think you can realistically ask for anymore you know it is the most it's gonna be one of the most proven championship players that we could have got yeah I think so right in his right in his prime he obviously played really well for in half a season for it's which I think it was last season yeah it's an insport leader thing yeah yeah this feels a bit like when we signed it is not as good as beat it but it feels a little bit like when we signed James Beatty where it was just like that's it you know you you're gonna be able to rely on him as being yeah you know a really like a top 10 championship striker I would expect and you know just basically build your whole team around feeding in chances I guess so yeah feel good about that one right spinning the wheels more and we've got friendlies with a question mark I've put on here which I just wanted to raise in terms of like I've not really paid attention to these friendlies at all because they're still sort of just under 21 games yeah this I guess this is kind of a this can be an excuse to talk about the the slowness of our activity I mean you you touched on it early with like 17 leaving and five arriving is it now with boys yeah we've we've done it again mate we've gone through basically the whole of preseason with you know barely any minutes for our new signings yeah there's a lot of obviously a lot of people saying you know best transfer window ever you get both sides of it down you know the people say we're going down we're gonna get relegated if I had said to any fan in May by this point what we are 31st of July will have signed five players in the biggest rule rebuild of our you know recent history did a set you've been covered up you've been negative you've been stupid no one and everyone expects it more than this um the friendlies in the early days uh yeah I don't take any any note which whatsoever are friendlies they purely since the nice liking season where we look fantastic and we were awful and then the crisp while the season where we won we won't remember losing to the hally facts I think it was too another thinking god this is bad there's no point right because there's a lot of people talking about oh you look good sir ek or you know um hamsons that you know he's he's look good as well same people were saying the same thing about Harrison Neal last season when we played Robert and get him in and this is a guy you know struggled to get in but didn't get in the Steve and his team and then just ended up with Carlisle yeah I don't think you can I don't think you can read anything to these early friend I think the last two where we've had more of a you know we certainly against the rather in game where there were more of a realistic looking side then yeah and apparently there was some fantastic play you know with between Hamer Brooks and Ohara and more as well and that does bow well because you think oh that looks quite good but the rest of it I personally don't think you can look at friendlies and say he's ready now because for the majority of these friendly we've played under 23 players yeah and we're obviously playing lower league opposition as well I mean it's doing to be wrong I'd rather win these games than not yeah I don't know what was it we were like three nil down to scunt up a few years ago but I feel like that was another season where we probably end up getting promoted on making the playoffs or something that year so yeah I don't read too much into that yeah I just I don't know I see a lot of things are like the young players they're ready now like you know they're in this they're in they're gonna be in the squad on Mary it's like they're not they're just making up the numbers at this point like Sashdev and Sariki I mean based on what I've seen for the under 21s last season they're miles away from the first year I mean yeah look some of them might step up you do get them right they might but it is yeah not everyone's an hour blaster not everyone's a David Brooks Andre Brooks has done fantastically well to break into the your first team squad that that is in a massive acula considering another thing people look at the under 23s and they've said this before and sir is it under 21 Zaki's in Australia yeah 21s we're not even at the top of that yeah we we pretty much demolish every team that we play because we're in the second tier of academies if you put these players up against the best academies in the country they probably won't look quite as good look I'd love it if by the end of the season you know Sashdev's center half and Sariki's right back in Amson's in midfield and we've got this sort of marsh up from banging goals and and we're doing well I just don't think it's realistic and I've talked to a rather unfair who didn't see that much of Sariki because he come breaking to the team but when he did play he just said he looked lost which is what we've sort of seen in league games as well Sashdev very very poor reviews for older merely does and then he did come into it you know and by the way this is not right in these players off is this is just saying these players probably need to go down the leagues before they even consider getting into a team who but you know by all accounts want you know a challenge over the top six or one of terms for the top six yeah so yeah there's still a lot of work to be done with the squad and it's I don't know I I hope it is just those moving slowly and not that we're thinking like yeah it's fine you know lewie marshes he could start for us in the championship yeah it's massive that the the first 11 I think he's shaping up to looking pretty good to be honest we're sort of obviously we need a right back we need a keeper I think we need a center half but it does excite me the more aware of Heyman our blaster even Sousa you know if he comes in maybe at this level or whatever or Andre Brooks and someone I've missed out who's the midfield we've got uh Heyman you said I've lost it yeah oh yeah anyway whatever it is that the first 11 if you're right down it looked really good going forward the midfield I think looked fantastic and I like he for more from the defence needs a bit of work which we probably will do in the first couple of weeks the backups is really scary if you look at our second 11 and I think if people are expecting the young lads to to play 10 to 15 games this season which they might have to do given our injuries of recent seasons I think that's a disaster waiting to happen I hope I'm proved wrong defence needs a lot won't make a lot worse I mean we haven't got a goal like we aren't going to arrive back at the moment I don't know what's that and Elle I don't know if he's going to be here he's there's no way he's staying at this I can't see it no if we're playing a bike full Robinson's never played well on a bike full trusty we're obviously appalling last season you've got to give him a you've got to give him a fresh thought because he's he's here no one's going to take him off his hands and knowing Davis has not played for pretty much two years if he if you talk about him in a central defensive role which is as played before there's so much work that he's doing at that back and I think that these this was quite interesting way that we've bought two or buying two fullbacks it was so attacking so it's just these I don't know what I don't know what the plan is not you know I thought it might have gone a little bit more solid but you know we'll see obviously it's still earlier as it stands this this team this squad for me I don't know 13'14 something like that I don't think it's anywhere near top so it's just based on the on the lack of numbers yeah I'll give it another week before I let you know what I think fully on that one yeah yeah what like I said that don't you know don't clip that and say that's what I thought we're gonna finish I'm talking about right now as it stands they've signed five players you know in like 17 go we're obviously not going to be in a very healthy position and I think people were expecting the under 21s to step up all I'll say is look at the loan spells and they didn't really doesn't mean they're not going to be ready I remember not in Davis I've been terrible loan speller I think of a Carlisle and I'm getting the views and Regent Slater had a poor loan spell at Rockdale I think it was or might be other way around with those two and then a couple of seasons late they develop a bit like Boros I suppose you know two seasons ago didn't look like he would leave one standard and then all of a sudden he's going for three million pound it doesn't mean that they're not going to make it it just means that right now they're probably not going to be ready yeah and I think the other thing with um it was a place of this later and uh it was not in Davis sorry they they might not have done you know might have ripped up trees on those loan spells but they've banged out the games didn't they I mean yeah I mean Davis must have played like nearly a hundred league games on like before he made his debut for us I imagine it would be like sixty-eight two games and it were a slow progress for him as well you know he steadily went up the leagues and loot and add him and then it's looked like we're going to a bigger club and start and turn out that way and everything but he sort of steadily made his way up and slight it was the same I know we ended up selling slightly but now he's a you know a bonafide championship player yeah yeah whereas you know these these other youngsters that are kind of in the first team with the friendlies at the moment they've you know they have barely played have they I mean Sariki how many games did he play for other them any idea of top of your light I think it was one star this is one of the the guy we're talking to said he said look I can't really just asking like Ari walls and he did but when I did see him he looked way out at his death he said I can't see him getting in your team but you're playing again for an absolutely appalling side yeah side that as the ball more I want this I want at the end of the season to say oh my god these long young lads steps up this is absolutely fantastic but I've got to be realistic about what I think and I think it's a big ask yeah could happen but this you know I'd feel better about like yeah Marsh for example if he'd you know played 40 games for Doncaster last season or something when you know they got injured so it was yeah could tell and he just doesn't all these players are right at the start of their careers so yeah and you've seen a look you've seen more than me than 21s I've seen a few 21 games and there's nothing there in what I've seen in those games that suggest that this guy there's a couple obviously and obviously one of them were our blaster and one of them blew him off she's probably would you say a pecs another one actually when I was seeing them you think maybe these could be used I'd want them to go alone but you know that the rest of them haven't really stood out for me yeah and it is so hard to do that level because it is competition well exactly yeah that's the one I'd lean on is like a suler is insane that level is actually funny watching him play at that level but obviously I haven't cracked it in senior football yet for various reasons so yeah don't expect too much we want a gold medal in the men's triathlon mate Alex you just come through I mentioned this because I think I accidentally blasted some olympics company bc commentary on this recording a few minutes ago so apologies apologies to everyone's I'm now going to close that tab right spin the wheel once a while here we go okay this is a player who has departed who we thought was not departing and that is McBurney the sign for last part was in in La Liga what I want to move for him now I just want to we don't have to dwell on this too much but there was a lot of rumour mongering or rumour swirling a couple of weeks ago that he was he was staying he's not leaving and this is I mean you know we have been in continued negotiations with him through basically since the season ended and it hasn't happened he's got a much better offer yeah seems uh so he's off I really disappointed yeah honestly I thought because obviously the rumours came out the you know the prince obviously had a zoom meeting with I know one of him was Jimmy Ramble but he's the only one who's dead admit that you were part of the zoomy and so that's one reason I'm saying his name but obviously and then straight after that all these little things start getting leaked and one of them was but Burney's gonna sign you know everyone quoting you know I'm at Burney signing he's gonna sign and I thought that'll be fantastic pure I were really looking forward to him with this new sort of system of playing sort of playing in the way that he did for Swansea I never thought we actually played McBurney in his best position or where Swansea got the best out of him which were on the wide you know a wider role rather than being this target man and I thought that could have worked really really well and I thought him and him and more up front as well for the for the aerial threat but I thought we're giving McBurney more space to show and because I think he's a bit of football than we probably saw and then I got it and we're absolutely because I'm getting quite excited there thinking hey Maro Hera, our uh met Burney and more like wow this is going to be incredible and then when he obviously son of a lot I would probably flated and no he's not everyone's cup of tea and everything but I think that I feel robbed of seeing an opportunity you know I think that's this could have been his best season yeah I think if he was like let's just pretend he'd never signed for Sheffield United and he was a free agent and he was a player that we brought in as a free transfer I think it would be absolutely buzzing like it'd be like this this guy last time was in the championship like ripped it up for half a season like yes he's got his injury problems but you know you just hope you can get like two thirds of a season out of him and he's going to be absolutely amazing up front I were on a like personal level I was also looking forward to just you know just seeing that big daft get lolloping around probably again that's like that is going to bring a smile to my face next season in in something that is like quite an unknown at the moment so yeah I was um I was not taken in by the rumours but I was like yes that I want this I want to believe basically and now he's off to Spain uh he seemed to get that sorted quite quickly um Ollie McBurn tee as I saw yeah he's already got Spanish accent I don't know if anyone's seen his interview but it's so fun yeah he sees me I'm not going to try it because that might come across as a bit racist I always should advise yeah so but all of a sudden he's very Steve McLaren dutchly McLaren vibe yeah but it's by Virgin with also a twang of whatever the hell I need to speak to real life yeah that's quite a mashup of an accent doesn't it but um where do you stand on continuing to follow footballers on social media after they leave you an eye because I think I think McBurnie um transcends it I don't think I follow any of our players I could be wrong or something could prove me wrong with that I just don't think don't get too attached to him that's what that's my yeah it's my life not a date in a class but yeah I think I don't really sort of I don't know I don't I don't I think career progression for sure um I don't know I don't feel like we've seen the last of him I could do you know could you see uh could you see a lone return in uh in January a bit like uh you know Broughton Diaz after his first season there I mean it's interesting because it's weird that we're laughing laugh about it was sort of like in it in a in a good way there'll be people listening I was saying it was crap you know what a waste a money 20 million real player who divided opinion and I like I say I don't think we actually did see the best of him but I thought we saw Flasher I thought we were definitely a better team when he were in it for the most part and I thought we saw Flasher's of what he could have been if he'd have stayed fit and I just thought this season I really I'd die out same and more you know I could say him sort of coming in from the from the from the wide area rather than just being up front and trying to win enders and I just feel a bit robbed of it and that that's probably out of all the players who have gone you know Eagan and all these because obviously we don't know what's happening with Eagan, Jefferson, Great Potential but we've never really done anything for us um he's the one where I'm thinking oh that's the one I wanted to stay out of the lot including Bogle yeah I think if Maburni and let's say Maburni had spent the last five years or whatever playing for Club X and had just had the exact same career for that mystery club and then had become a free agent and then we'd signed him this summer this would he would definitely be the signing I was most excited about yeah you know whatever you think of him he's a player that has a lot of skills and you know good good track record to go with it when he stays fit but not to be unfortunately um and yeah kind of kind of another one that you sort of penciled in is like being potentially part of the squad that you you know it's another another hole to fill isn't it? I think Bereton Diaz and Maburni last season were weirdly in the worst season ever it they were the best strike partnership we've had since shot from a gold hook I think uh yeah well you could have said in day Maburni I suppose but I don't really class in days and out and out strike and real I thought yeah exactly uh Bereton Diaz signed for Southampton I think it's nice yeah good signing for them to be fair yeah good for him as well you know that that as we said at the time that low move for him worked out absolutely brilliantly like he pretty much guaranteed himself another Premier League club if you wanted it so um yeah fair play right spinning the wheel once more uh Jamie Shackleton not don't need to spend too long talking about him I think he was our first signing all right yeah that's right yeah free transfer from Leeds you know not to be too dismissive but I think basically the right foot of Ben Osborne is that too derogatory I think he's one of those if he plays more than 15 games you're probably in trouble which might be a disservice to him but just purely based on his career so far that said I'll listen to the pinch podcast which is new which is really good I've not managed to listen to all of everything about going on and stuff but Riley who does the Twitter analysis stuff for deep plant seedings we're for listening because they go quite deep into him and McCallum to be fair and I learned a few things about him but I think he's going to be one of those in either like you say the Ben Osborne you know if the season started tomorrow he would fit he's playing a right bike but in three weeks time it could be a midfield you know if we've got a few injuries or as soon as it goes or whatever I think it's good to have a body like that around me only issue is his fitness record and he's injured again yeah we don't we don't know what the deal is but he went off with what looked like a bad injury against Rotherham which is uh yeah is another thing we need to factor in this season you know we pick injuries a lot and yeah he's a player who has a pretty lame injury record I think he only played less than 700 minutes last season for Leeds I have liked him in the past when I've seen him I think in the Premier League for Leeds um thought wow you know he looks decent on the ball and his numbers in those limited minutes last season were pretty impressive you know his progressive passing and dribbling numbers and getting on the ball in the final third as well pretty decent I guess he was used as a you know slightly more attacking option than we probably need him for but um yeah he's a he's a good squad player um I think he did well under Beelso don't know I think that without kind of pressing football the Beelso player and by the sounds of it in pre-season that's what we've tried to do as well so yeah it could be about look I'm dismissing him purely on I'm not dismissing him but I'm not expecting much from him purely on the last couple of seasons that he's had at Leeds where he's not broken to the team and the view from a very yeah nice lab but not really what you want for promotion team so yeah he's um just gonna minutes he's played now so only once in his career as he played more than more than seven hundred and nine minutes in a season and that was when he was on a loan at Millwall so yeah he's is I don't know some of that's injury summer it's just selection I guess I know like you know just not cracking the team um a good backup to have assuming his fit you know that's the whole that was the whole debate with Ben Osbourne retaining him wasn't it was like you know yeah if you're going to be a backup then we actually need you to be available to be a backup and um yes it's not off to a hot start unfortunately oh was this not quite all the way Paul warned that about Osbourne in training I think you said it may he always likes it yeah it seems like it's a Dan yeah so we're not seeing him in a game yet but in training he's likes it Dan which I think is absolutely incredible from Paul Warren it's just a lot of people have had a terrible pre-season I don't know if you've been losing to non-league size and things like that and they're fans and Chesterfield the other day but yeah lots of Chesterfield so maybe he is like you don't maybe their plays are just shocking and I think that's all sorts maybe maybe so I don't know I'm not expecting huge things out of Shackleton it might surprise me like I said I thought he looked when I saw him for leads in the Premier League I thought he looked really good on the ball and capable of some good moments going forward but um yeah I think you nailed it off the bat if he's playing if he's starting more than 15 games for his next season or 20 games I think we would probably having a bad time yeah he should you should probably be a you know filling type player but at the same time it wouldn't be that surprise at the end of the season we're saying what I'm saying he was like you know just in the sense of filling in you know he's a free transfer as well so yeah can play a bunch of different positions just like I was one could have done so yeah you know good good free pickup I think um yeah good good value at assuming he is uh you know fairly fair I suppose right next one and it is Tech over spelt TEK how do we have to this is so boring yeah well we're not spent on long on this just uh um I just wanted to summarize the state of play to be honest and that is the fact that uh nothing's really happening um and it's it's confusing it does so the fact I don't blame the club for not really you know putting out a statement about what's going on people say God there's no what's happening they can't you know but at the same time that void is then being filled by uh loud voices I suppose and I'm conscious that I am sat here speaking into a microphone to actual denial of funds um well I'd say that but um it's a great warning it's just there's something I don't know I just feel like something doesn't add up here like well and it would sort of fit the general like week to week operating process of Sheffield United over the last year or two of like so if we got money or if we not got money like you know as in have we paid for burrows and more like is that is that because we expect the take over to go through have we is that money we've whistled up is that the Bogle money or did we have to use that you know is that being absorbed into the running cost of the club at I don't know I just feel like we have mixed messages here because we've clearly spent a bit of money but then at the same time we've only signed five players as it stands we haven't signed anyone on loan as it stands it sounds like it's gonna change in a day or two but you know just I don't know it just feels like it just feels like there's there's more uncertainty here than I would expect for a process that's been going on for this long and this is why I don't like personally and this is genuinely nothing against the the people you know the the youtubers and stuff like that is when stuff sort of leaked out and then you get these sort of rumors going around that's not confirmed by anyone but when it falls through in the way they did with my burn and it looked like it might have done with burrows the outrage is even more than it was because you're getting a so I'm not even calling half true so I'd say that I don't think that people are lying I think that people are getting information that's not being confirmed yet and they're putting this out as like it because obviously the prince wants to know the best news to come out well I'm gonna say we should stress that that news is coming from the bloody owner of the club which is yeah I don't like that because I think it adds to more it probably adds to me emotionally but they're going to be completely nice when I found out you're gonna sign all that and then I were really down and you do get that sort of bloody yeah and I shouldn't have been I should have just like you know but that's I don't like the communication of the club and I've said this before and I've said it to you know the person was two of the people who get that sort of information and it's genuinely nothing against them it's just the way that I don't like the way the club communicates stuff like that with these little leeks and stuff and diamonds move on to it saying you know answering questions I just don't I don't get it maybe I'm just being old but I don't think any other club acts like that I don't think any other club acts like that this is absolutely ridiculous I know and I just sort of like I say it's and a lot of people shoot the messenger as well you know Jimmy Ramble got a lower Rama on S2 forum that I saw and stuff like that and realistically the main culprit for it is where the source is coming from and these little things being leaked out and things I just don't think it helps anyone but people are doing opinions on it that's just mine yeah I feel fairly confident in being able to say that you know if this goes through the best case sort of from what we know the best case is that new owners probably don't have that much more money than the club has currently it does also seem very likely that Prince Abdullah will still be at least partially involved just from the fact that you know that information is still coming out from him well yeah I think he is and I mean this is pure speculation for me don't take anything as this but I think he's always wanted to stay on and I think it's probably one of the reasons why it's being such a difficult deal to do because I think you know he wants to stay on we don't really know whether these other investors are coming from and stuff like that it's all a bit I don't know we all just want this take over to happen and just even if they've just got you know just a slightly more money than Prince Abdullah it put us into a better position and it's just all a bit messy again and I don't really I'm not gonna blame anyone for it because I don't know what's happening but I don't know if it's gonna fall through or if it me certainly don't like it's gonna be a massive game changer yeah and it has you know essentially wiped out the entire summer I know we've been able to sign some players but clearly if this you know if this had happened six months ago or something we would have been I presume much much more active in bringing players in and yeah it's it's not happened here we are 10 days till the start of the season or what was it what we're on Wednesday so nine days to the start of the season and yeah we've only brought five players in as it stands which is not ideal in the yeah in this in a summer of rebuild anyway that's take over god knows when that'll get wrapped or in yeah every year every single year yeah there's probably something in that right Jefferson to born with just to take this one off so obviously I think the last time we spoke he had left the club you know we haven't been able to agree a contract with him and he does get picked up by a Premier League club which as I said on that poker so I expect him to kick a ball in the Premier League before Sheffield United do it wasn't that bold a prediction and yeah good I think that's quite a good landing spot from to bonus because he's you know they've uh it feels like he will have room to develop there they don't need him to be brilliant immediately he may even well go out on loan to the championship which would probably be good for him I think we'll see him in the champion a bit bramma lane this season yeah I think leads will link with him I don't know if I don't know if he's that level for a team that probably won't all it might be promotion but it's a big it's a year I think this for him they'll go out on loan just try and get his fitness back up because obviously a year out it's a shame that we lost him I've got no sort of connection to him as a player because he didn't actually do anything for us it's always a shame to let go of a player that you know as it obviously does has potential and we've lost him for a couple of million when we probably could have got a lot more for him really yeah that's right yeah so we did get um maybe he hadn't officially left left so we spoke we get yeah we've got a like a couple of million foreign doing I think from as part of a compensation thing we oh it was an actual agreed fee wasn't it with born with like to steer clear of a tribunal I think that's right yeah I think I don't think you were ever going to stay and we sort of alluded to this and I think Phil Fallblazer the first person to say that it were all a lot of uh smoke and mirrors just to say oh we are trying to keep him but I think they would never really much chance of him staying yeah but yeah good um you know a player who's banged them in at like England age groups and is a you know a good athlete uh he was never gonna stay on the market for very long and uh yeah not shocked to see a Premier League club pick him up at all um but yeah as he says it is a weird one I just don't really feel any emotional connection with him even though he obviously I mean when was it he scored that goal it's 2020 right in the I was in 21 um the way never to this was like three and a half years ago but yeah it's just barely yeah it was that it was that season he's barely had the opportunity to do anything since because I had a good loan spell up but and and that's it really you know yeah uh so off we might be signing anyone in particular uh we mentioned Hoover earlier obviously um which is I mean I'm trying to think of what we've got with this this Gilchrist um is it Gilchrist Gilchrist if he's rubbish one of our Gilchrist okay yeah there's a Chelsea center balcony yeah he's obviously got good reviews from Chelsea U of Tim you never know are they're gonna go because they've never played you know proper football consistently um Sue uh it was about 24 I like the idea of it but he's got the you know uh I think one of the stout fans said is like you know the old he's got the turn in speed of a whatever it is yeah then whatever make your own punch lines and uh and then we've got uh it what else is there come on hit me uh so I put this one in here as an excuse for me to talk about Tyree's Campbell actually Tyree's Campbell you you've got big big big ambitions with this guy aren't you I have I'm on I'm on the Tyree's Campbell hype train mate if he signs I'm I'm there with my shovel full of coal you know I think that's how trains work I how they used to work that's what my Thomas the Tank Engine knowledge has taught me um yeah Tyree's Campbell so this guy's a free agent from Stoker you know I knew about him I don't remember ever really seeing him play for us and I was like why is this guy a free agent because I looked up his numbers from last season and they're like they're brilliant from Stoker like it okay so you know you just look at like the goals that you scored or didn't score and obviously that is not not good and that's probably why he is a free agent but yeah if you look at like the shots that he got last season and his ex g so getting into scoring chances it's absolutely you know upper echelon for the championship is in the 99th percentile for shots per game last season in the champ um 91st for shot creating action so that someone who shoots a lot and also creates a lot of chances progressive passing really good progressive dribbling really good um you know got a lot of blocks and clearances in as well so he's a he is an athlete you know works hard and so I just put it out there on tour I was like why is this guy a free agent like we genuinely want my missing like you know fill in my ignorance on this and I had some uh very polite some some impolite stoke funds you know used a lot of four letter words in relation to him and some more sensible ones that basically said like he started really well like I think he burst onto the scene at stoke and then had some injuries never quite hit that heights again um and it sounds like he basically was on more money than they thought he was worth so he's he's hit the open market we bring this guy mate I'm I'm gonna be very interested to see him for us very wilder project tish isn't it he's very sort of you know a young guy who had a lot of potential lost his way not sure I'm near them I've actually worked hard to find his friend wilder yeah this feels a little different though he's yeah yeah I'd be happy with this guy on a free transfer I think this is a very good I mean absolutely need someone in a full position he can play obviously you know behind striker or on the wings or whatever you want to call it you know under to either side this is the look we were talking I think we were talking private there might be new might be someone else talking about about our backup striker at the moment is re-ambrucer oh dear if if a soul leaves which is obviously one of the rumors and his solar himself has not scored a league goal for us I don't think you can class bruce to realist it like this is genuinely I mean this in the best way for him I'm not slagging him off of this I don't think you can really class him as a as a genuine option because of the last three years of injuries I think he's a bonus player of if we can get him fit brilliant but we can't rely on him right now if key for more gets injured I apply he's gonna have to be a solar upfront on his own really because you want to thought bruce is gonna be able to play more than 60 minutes a game yeah it's a similar marsh probably unless I forget someone yeah yeah yeah and this is why that's a you know possibly a league to attack yeah look we'll see obviously there's a lot of people have got more hopes in these under 21s than I am you know looking on twitter and things like that but I think realistically in terms what they prove him you kind of think you can really argue with it so it's a lead to strike force and Campbell at least as championship experience we know that he might have not been prolific or anything like that but he's played well at this level can't say that about any other strike we've got over the key for more yeah so yeah Campbell really really does interest me so his numbers he started like a house on fire at Stoke and I almost this is this is just what I'm pulling out of a snapshot here I haven't you know scouted him extensively or anything like from just looking at this it looks like that incredibly hot start might have sort of counted against him a little bit so he he scored nine goals in his first proper season off an XG of 5.8 so we outperformed his XG quite significantly following season six goals of 2.7 XG so outperformed his XG quite significantly then he basically hit his XG hit his XG and last season went slightly under his XG I can see how you might think like we've got an elite striker here age sort of 18 19 or whatever he was oh he's completely stagnated and now he's not very good and maybe we should just let him go actually I can see that narrative and you know quite a few of the Stoke fans had he'd been you know he's just lazy and he's been injured coming that injured he's played you know played 1200 minutes last season he played two and a half thousand minutes a year before a thousand minutes a year but hella be our most ever present player genuinely I don't think anyone in our squad played more than 2,600 minutes last season well they're not a striker what I thought well they're certainly not a striker no um yeah this feels like just looking at this this feels like a diamond in the rough that is slipped through the net at Stoke um there's just terrible mixing a metaphor so that um yeah I'd be excited if we brought him in like not say it's guaranteed to work and it doesn't sound like he is you know the fittest player ever but he doesn't sound like he's a total croppy there but I'd be I'd be very excited to see it if we use this then for a what would you like to come in obviously we've got another five loans you'd have thought all we're gonna lose it use at least four of them what positions now are we saying that we you know what you would like to see by the time the transfer window shows uh keeper right back center back striker we need we need a starting level player in all of those positions I think yeah yeah yeah right I don't want to go into like even if Anil stays I don't want to go into the season having to start trustee every week it's like a default yeah I know I've said before I think he'll be all right in the championship but the more I think about it the less sure I am like was he just player that you hear at Birmingham because they had to defend a lot and so he's just so on said that I think he might have been red off who said that actually yeah he's not he's not going to suddenly become good with the ball at his feet like he wasn't that at Birmingham anyway um and you know pretty row up a by all the casting preseason as well I've not seen these games but look I'm all both jobs out of us when it comes to it but yeah I think you're right we definitely need a right bite we need a goalkeeper need a center off to start but the rest of the team as it stands is good enough into into first eleven but then you're talking back up sort of strike a probably mid field or an attacking or a winger or wherever we're trying to play and we probably need to we probably actually need two right backs to be honest oh yeah yeah exactly I feel we're four legitimate starters short of a good team at the moment yeah which is troubling because there's only eight days to go until the start you know I think we'll get you know I think we'll come in I think we'll probably get um you know a center off on loan with a Gil Gilkirk Gil Christ or or suit or one of these you know I think one of those will come in as well but that's two year loans gone I think they'll go on loans as well this is why this Campbell signing to me I think will be pretty good because he's a free transfer you know using a loan space for it yeah yeah exactly and then you can use the loan space on someone that you can be pretty confident it's going to be available every week um which yeah I wouldn't expect him to be but uh a potential quite high ceiling player so yeah uh I'm driving that hype train mate if he signs if if not I'm gonna be annoyed and follow him wherever else he's going and get annoyed rained as well um okay there's only a few where we go like five left I think um Kalamo hair or Kalamo horror as you've been determinedly calling him what you called you know I said this I did a uh video we read off a Sheffield uh we chat uh on their youtube channel checking out it's brilliant but yeah I did a video with him um and I kept pulling him on that as well and then I'm not confused again I like in yeah I imagine we sort of pushed the boat out and there's a free transfer but imagine we pushed the boat out financially a little bit for him um yeah I feel like he is so I think you could say that more is uh key for more this is um you know probably uh maybe on a par with mr bernie um yeah I think mr bernie probably got more to his game in terms of basketball yeah look you're not going to get a pretty you know replacement for bernie as good as key for more very simple uh you know chakleton is like for like for us bern I think mccallum's probably uh who haven't talked about york suits on this wheel but he's probably no no not really any better than any left bike that we had already maybe it will be but this feels like an upgrade like if we'd had our hair last season I imagine he would have been starting for us in central midfield um yeah very excited to see him play for us I think that will be a fun midfield combo um yeah ten out of ten no note signing I think for me yeah the only question mark around me is obviously his injury is that's the only thing I think as a player you can't really um you can't there's not as a championship player you can't really grumble I think the only issue is obviously he's got injured against us actually didn't I yeah that came at home yeah yeah and I remember that comment I mean it's funny actually because people say in uh Homer and uh oh what's he called the wearer but i'm gonna have to get used to this on um um definitely what's his name oh yeah oh unbelievable isn't it? Homer no hair people saying you know it's a it's a cheat code at championship it's probably it's not because Coventry had it but yeah I remember like being quite nervous before that game because I did so much about oh I think at that point I will probably more talked about than uh hey much about honestly we're like sort of one of the in front of him so if he can keep fit I don't think he'll have that many bad attacking midfields in the league he's just the fitness thing is the only question mark yeah but as uh as long as he's on that pitch I think we're gonna have a good time watching him so um yeah really good signing that was you know Shackleton and uh McCallum did not particularly float my boat I guess um it's like you know oh I'm so excited to see them keep it more like is it is it what it says on the tin signing I think yeah yeah I'm very happy we've got him but he's not like yes this is going to be incredible whereas oh hair like I feel I feel as though that could be a lot fun in midfield um yeah so looking forward to seeing him play hopefully stays fit right spin the wheel we've got four left I think uh and most of them we will tick off quite quickly uh this is a bit of a fuck no but it's eager to know where and I wanted to reference this because uh last time we spoke we'd just like go over eager um and I was really unhappy about it and I said at the time you know we'll know pretty quickly I think if his injury uh issues are behind him because he'll get picked up by somebody quite quickly and that has not happened and as far as I know I've not seen any like he is training with you know club X or anything like that um club X get a lot of air time on this podcast today um yeah it doesn't seem like it doesn't seem like he's any closer to getting picked up by someone so that does suggest that uh his fitness levels uh and his injury is still quite a problem for him in which case uh I guess you know the decision to let him go or not you know reach a reach reach agreeable terms with him is much more understandable from you know his point of view the camera argument to that is no one's somewhat being picked up which I'm absolutely amazed about um I can't believe he's yeah I don't know why I was no one picked him up but we know he's fair you know I I think he'd walk into half at least of the championship teams I don't I don't know if he's just weighing up his options and stuff but yeah he might be yeah but he's missing preseason he will have missed preseason pretty much yeah yeah yeah it's true I don't know what yeah yeah so there's a there's a chance that he's weighing up his options are you again but yeah we've heard nothing from him it could be another Jack O'Connell that's the case I'll all mounds up and say yeah you obviously you know what I don't get with it though is why was he part of the the four or five or ever it was that we were still negotiating with the only thing I can think of is we felt we could get him on a low cost deal because uh because of his fitness yeah maybe we just thought like you know why not we you know we we maybe we felt like we can reach a compromise with him because his fitness levels are rubbish because of this injury but so we're gonna offer him lower terms maybe we just thought that I'd come together so he's I'm just looking now he got injured against West Amdany away again yeah that's right that was the end of September so that was like 10 months ago now so he's is that right 10 months yeah 10 months out yes one time to not play a single minute of you know football even you know non-competatively as I assume he's not doing um yeah so yeah that's that's it on that one really I just wanted to bring it up is like a you know we talked about it last time that I yeah had my eye on whether he got picked up quickly or not and he hasn't so um yeah we'll see where ends up all right next up is Sam McCallum the first of the signings from the summer and uh yeah the one I'm least fussed about I suppose just no real expectations at all here we've already you know signed another player to play in his position in Harrison Burrows I assume the plan is for him to be the second choice left back uh he's a free transfer from Norwich um seems again he he actually seems like more of a pure um defender than a like attacker his defensive numbers are much better than it's interesting that because the Norwich fans on the view from said it the other way so he's not like good defensively but he can they actually said he might be better off as an attacking midfielder as well a lot of that fans were saying yeah apparently really slow um not great defensively but really good technique and a great crosser yeah I don't those those all sound like you know decent things to be honest and if you can play multiple positions as well then that's gonna help him um yeah just a uh probably a slightly forgettable pick up I guess you know just a sort of uh free transfer he's played the championship why not we desperately need players I don't want people to misunderstand me I would like us to sign another four or five Sam McCallum's right now because we've got those we need them you know adult players who can run championship experience yeah um but yeah not one to really get me too excited yeah hopefully I'll be surprised you know hopefully you'll get a run of games and actually um look really good for us but I'm looking on um if I remember when we're not so looking at them child boxing we're playing it's just a feel I want to say I can't remember the first one but we're two minutes into the game and I was looking at it's rubbish he's absolutely rubbish that by Calamica can't control the ball they were like oh my god he's done already um so yeah that's Sam what's the faulty why not we'll get we'll get loads for him um yeah great business from United's you'd pretty much get the money back from him yeah yeah I mean we've essentially trafficked a small child around Europe for his clubs in Europe but ultimately we're no financially worse off for it um yeah it's been really bizarre signing like I don't know I probably need to go back and listen to what we said when we signed um to see if I was more enthusiastic about him but I do so many red flags about this signing in terms of he was playing in Sweden and like you know playing on like Astro Turf and his gold tally you know it's called like five penalties out of nine goals or something it was about four foot nothing I don't know what we what made us think that he was going to be I saw people in preseason say I think he's gonna rip it up in the championship we'll never know probably I imagine that he'll never play in England again you know that you'd have thought um well I just didn't see it I just think of it way too it's smaller than me and I said I put a tree out saying anyone smaller than me is never going to be successful trust my so he lied for as a footballer I just didn't lie so yeah um I just think you're way too small first line and now that sounds like you've got to be as good as messy and you're able to be to get away with that small any wasn't um yeah a couple of brief appearances for us uh you know we'll always have that first touch against Manchester City which is beautiful beautiful and that was a good score against Forest where they were clean through Manavans got 20 goals probably not but yeah part of the bites you know I'm forgetting the money back at least there goes Benny Troy oh we've got two left there's one I guess I'm so excited that so excited about which one has been left for last um the one that hasn't been left for last and it is a rumour but I think it's worth just having a brief discussion about it and that is will of sooner to Newcastle for a reported 10 million now this is you know everywhere as this come from is it on Nixon it's not like you know doesn't well I don't know if the Newcastle Chronicle also reported it I don't know if that were after if I'm gonna be honest but um but on the potential for this this is is divided the fans at big time is what I've seen is uh on the one hand these people saying they could be another Albert Lewin situation where he could be worth 40 million this time actually bangs 20 goals in and all of a sudden you've got this because it's obviously got all the attributes we know that we've talked about that before on the other hand it's a play we're probably but almost certainly doesn't start for us as it stands and if someone offers you 10 to 50 million for it you can get three plays it will start for you so I personally said I'm going short termism here and saying sell and we can buy some plays with that money um but I do want it it would be quite uh what are we letting go here because we're some not sure what we were so long we're not uh I'm with you um it would hurt but I think it would also be sensible um I just don't think you can turn down that money for someone who we're not in a I mean we I guess we are in a position um to you know take a chance on him because we're probably going to be a mid-table championship club we're not going to be in grave danger this season um I don't expect anyway and that's something that's really really wrong uh but yeah I almost like new castle obviously can take a chance you know 10 million is chicken feed for them and they'll just farm him out on loan for a couple of seasons I see where he gets to but yeah yeah yeah you know it's a problem and this sounds ridiculous I'm mad I don't want him back on loan because if he bangs 30 calls in next season I'll be like why have we got rid of him going sending him to Europe sending back to Denmark yeah um but yeah 10 millions a lot of money for someone who's never scotterly goal for us yeah um and yeah as you say you can you can fly we don't have enough money I don't think to turn it down personally I don't think we have you know if you want success this season it looks like the prince is going to be staying on which means we've got nothing unless we raise it ourselves so yeah yeah that's what yeah yeah but it would really rankle to lose him and jebison in the same bloody stuff yeah that would actually sting a bit yeah yeah this is why I get both sides of it I really really do I don't think it's I don't think it's that clear all I can understand both sides of this argument yeah because I saw this sort of hit me the day I was like we've probably only got a year of our blaster like unless we you know have a brilliant season I feel like he probably goes next summer the sun's out Ben come on I must have been in a dark place when I was having these those but um yeah just sort of occurred to me I was like ah that would that would really suck if you lose all three of those in like the space of 12 months after the jar I went there before but that's football in it you know the the cycle of churn is is remorseless um yeah we we I I hope there's nothing in this really like I almost I feel like I don't want it to be a decision like I hope it's just nonsense because uh I'd rather he just stayed here and you know it yeah as opposed to like you know I'd turn down 10 million and then it massively short in other areas and a suler doesn't really kick on this season so yeah I'm just gonna hope for like just stick my fingers in my ears and hope that um there's nothing in it but um yeah if it's if it's a legit bid of 10 million uh I think unfortunately we have to say goodbye to him uh and just just kind of suck it up and use that money elsewhere um last one on here so spin the wheel anyway Adam Davies gets a two year deal yeah it's the big news like I said no hi good old Adam Davies he never ticks up a foster's like everything like that he's uh and he's probably gonna be on that number one on the people he starts against Preston right yeah absolutely unless we're pulling out the bag in the next week or so yeah he's definitely gonna start um I don't know what I mean we needed a goalkeeper to back as it is back up don't know what we're gonna be that I suppose the big thing about this is is garbage because we don't look any closer to getting rid of him unfortunately and I don't know where you know I don't know how we get rid of him and I imagine he's on an all right way each I imagine Adam Davies signed for you know probably what I'm on a week uh I don't think he ever should be the same and I don't know what we do with that but Adam Davies club legend you know he's been here he's probably one of the most long serving players now isn't it oh my god it's Jack Robinson and him right Jack Robinson and him I think yeah there's only I don't think apart from Robinson I don't think there's a player who's been here longer than Davies I can't think the one if anyone knows obviously not including the latter or so like you know like no I'm not in Davis or whatever like yeah discounting academy products anyway yeah yeah that I can't I don't think there is yeah Brewster Brewster's actually our longest uh no way Jack Robinson came in uh yeah mid-break through the the good Premier League season yeah yeah um yeah I don't know there was just I think Davies signed this contract like before we brought in any place it's just I'm just so sorry for him I'm just like you know you know I'd try any more like here is this side of New Deal Davo he's starting against whoever it is in our first friendly but now he's it is a decent backup goalkeeper I'm sure Gerberch is gonna go out on loan somewhere and we'll loan in another goalkeeper I think but yes again we're leaving it rather late too yes yes we did this if you remember the season we got promoted first time around and we finished ninth and we got Anderson I think the week before I don't think he even played in a friend like he played against Inter um no sorry this season after that you know when he came back on loan oh sorry yeah I know that's not a big thing but I think uh Jamal Blackman as well he wouldn't do anything in the week before because Sam and Morgan injured yeah maybe I suppose the difference bringing Henderson back is it in you everybody already there yeah uh but yeah we're gonna need you Davo I'm almost certain you'll be starting at Preston uh and that's you know doesn't quite do really well against Preston when people say we'll go I just don't know how people can look at that back for five or if it's gonna be right now and think that we're gonna be favorites against Preston you know my role good we are going forward because I just don't see unless an L Paul's you know his old season fun back in and he's and he's still in the right place with Jack Robinson as I said he's strolling in a back four I don't mean he can't do it obviously it's not as simple as just playing a back four obviously I'm aware with that you get you know people coming in helping out of the back or whatever but I just I don't know I do that that defense needs some major surgery to it yeah I'll expand on this on the next one when we do our best case and worst case scenario but I would say that Jack Robinson's been playing it pretty much his peak for two years now and what if he takes a step back this season like yeah suddenly you know we're all sort of relying on relying on you know the biggest what by a mile this season compared to I'd argue people argue against me that this this is a I think it is a weaker squad than than we had when we first when we came down last time it's that's just the fact no one can argue that in terms of a squad and depth and stuff like that and I went through the team and you can say well we probably replaced normal with our blaster or whatever you know flex not as good as a mirror and you know we would be at Billy Sharpot from the key for more just as good but you look at that back line Johnny Egan there the prime Johnny Egan stands out massive but we don't have anyone like that at the moment yeah yeah lots lots still to do and not a lot of time left to do it and I know the transfer window doesn't close until what is it the end of August or something like but the season starts before then and uh yeah these are points these are points that could very well slip through our fingers we're already on minus two yeah um yeah I don't know I don't want to you know we really I think gave the club both barrels the last time we're recorded I don't really see the need to repeat myself too much but yeah I don't feel I still don't feel hugely pacified by what's happened in the intervening three weeks I suppose I feel like in summary just talking transfers here I feel like the players we've brought in broadly very good broadly very happy with the players we've brought in it's just not enough of them yeah that's it I think you're something that is a sums it up you know I'd like to say you see people say this is a terrible track someone said to me we're going to finish bottom I think they were being serious um and then I see the other side best transfer window ever unless you're two years old that's just literally true um the players are brought in are being good they just know we're near enough of them and unless if you're expecting the other 21s to step up I hope you're right but I just don't think that's gonna happen and the other thing is we hadn't factored in Bogel leaving yes possibly you know the club hierarchy hadn't factored in but Bernie leaving as well so that's yeah one and one and a half extra slots to fill with our notoriously fast pace recruitment team firing on all three people think he's just like being unfair all I'll say is listen to wilders interviews throughout the the friendlies every single one he said we need a couple of players in this week and since Chesterfield I think we've brought one in but now we're starting to be quick enough for wilder you only have to look at you know he's made on Twitter to you know to say that you know he's not happy with our quick removing and stuff and I don't think he is happy with with our things you know our things are progressing I think he's happy with the players that we've got but just just again the speed of it speed of it all yeah we we signed out here and more on that Monday didn't we I think at the same time yeah yeah so that was the 15th of July sort of 16 days ago and yeah we've brought in one other player since then and that's Harrison Burroughs who presumably you know by all reporting we've been working on for months a month so yeah I don't know this this can't be the case but it so feels like you know I can only do one thing at a time you know like we've lost weeks like all of last week was just purely focused on signing Harrison Burroughs and like every I almost feel this is so not what's happening but this is how it feels like we signed Burroughs and then like bet it's just sat down a while they're saying right we've got Harrison who do you need next yeah and this is like the first thinking about like oh yeah we probably get it right like maybe golden pepper right give me a week but now I feel like look I feel really sorry for bet as he seems like the only one at the club it like actually at the club oh hi or someone else then hi oh come on I feel a lot I mean again dude I'm doing the same as a sort of criticizing others for doing but I have it a lot of people say the structure at the club is just so sort of like 10 part in terms of how many people are actually doing things and I suppose that's reflected in how long things are taking so indeed anyway sorry I'll go a bit of a tangent there and we'll talk for a good long time as well well I enjoyed that mate catching up on the news and I was said players that signed generally very very much looking forward to seeing them just yeah you know y'all got any more of them signings basically yeah what are they all yeah like I say from the last summer record and things have improved we've lost belle and tree already with the five that we've brought in yeah we were a stronger squad than the last time we recorded but I want us to be stronger to have a successful season I think we've signed enough players now to suggest that we're not going to be in an irrigation but I was said don't think we could have ruled out you know if if if we'd have not brought anyone in you know that has been certainly a possibility yeah when the next month or whatever with the loans and everything like that I think that's going to be I think the loans are going to basically decide whether we're going to be plodding around in mid-table or making a push for the playoffs yeah final thing I'll say I don't want to hear you have to wait till the end of the window to get the best loan that's fine we need loads of players you can have five loanees get me squad players on loan right now or you know ideally players who can start and then you know that you add you add that sort of stardust at the end of the window don't you know you know you hope that's it you hope to land against why or a macatee someone right you know when they when those players get released by you know the Premier League squads realize they're not going to play them this season that should be a complementary piece like at the end of the window it shouldn't be we shouldn't be scrambling around to fill holes right at the back and see and Doyle were both here um the season we got promoted way before the season started yeah it was in July wasn't it yeah they were they were overseas they went out to Gibraltar or whatever or Doyle certainly did yeah to be involved as friendless anyway sorry that's it let's let's wrap up the capture is probably another one you were I think it did he sound later in fact cadre I can't remember but anyway but yeah get get a move on jerks yeah in summary what you got to plug mate new yeah I've got I've got you from from all the the five um the five signings that we've done and on the whole pretty good to be honest um you know apart from Coventry fans obviously once again we've been up to the representation of being probably the most payer fan base out there
