Thank you very much I I'd like to take time out here to um in the somber moment to talk about a loss in my family and uh if you don't mind Shay I just like to send a shout out to something that uh I've had in my family for a long time that uh it's no longer with us 22 years of um great service and my alarm clock stop working um that'll be all for my alarm clock so uh rest in peace west clock uh you'll be in the garbage when I come home um for the first time in 22 years the alarm not going off uh woke up a little later than normal and uh I appreciate all the times the wacky schedules the ups and downs you know warnings and had to work overnight and it was it was always there for me but uh for the first time in 22 years of service that gained the job done so shout out to my my clock a valued family member for many many years in the hood household no longer with us okay it's a dumbest thing i've ever heard what do you mean you have an iPhone yeah was that mean alarm on it yeah I know it's my backup but nonetheless I'd like to be able to tell Alexa just tell Alexa wake me up and play prints to when they wake you up and Alexa will wake you up with a print song of your choosing and um you making fun of the dead that's pretty on brand cap nonetheless I would like to be able to just send a shot out to my longtime alarm clock 22 years of service jmor and that'll be all so thank you very much there will be there will be a service taking place at the home uh later on today uh will be I think i think the wake six six o'clock jmor if you want to stop by the wake six o'clock funeral seven third jmor don't waste your time no he's my friend he'll be there you won't be because you don't care no shit but yes fine that's why i have have other friends here on the show jmor again six o'clock uh there'll be a repast afterwards do you have a best friend at work and eight o'clock no and eight o'clock so so there you have it so shay tough times in the hole very tough but we're going to get through today we're going to get through the show today despite the uh untimely passing of my timepiece all right just have we done here pop a napkin over it or something hit it with a hammer it already looks like it put it to rest the way it worked in this it seemed like it was hit by hammer that's been around for a long time all right shay what do you have all right pro football focus ranked the top 10 offensive coordinators and stop me if you've heard this recently the bears offensive coordinator made the cut pff ranked shane waldren as the sixth best offensive coordinator in all of football after resurrecting jeno smith in seattle despite some offensive line woes and some problems last year two career years for jeno smith under shane waldren puts him in the top 10 at pff that adds on to the expectations with the receivers with calib williams with a retooled offensive line a new running back room shot or no shot with all the expectations around this offense the bears need to be a top 10 unit need is a tough word need to be would like for them to be need what do you think um look i do i think they'll be top if they're top 10 with the way their defense is that team has a chance to win the nfc i'm thinking they're like top 15 the offense with a rookie QB a rookie wide out still some issues on the offensive line nate davis is sidelined again and even eberflu's who's holding guys accountable i told you that he's out there going uh availability it was a direct shot at nate davis direct shot um no they don't need to be top 10 they need to be top 15 offensively yes so you don't mind the 26 touchdowns and 12 interception 3700 yards you're good with that right as a baseline for uh calib williams i would like more than that i know that's uh that's port's illustrator who projected that if he gets more than that they're a top 10 offense yes maybe okay that'd be great yes if he's crossing 4,000 and 30 they're a top 10 where was houston's offense ranked last year what was a car you know you looked at a voice well tell me where they were because that was the conversation last week talking about and it was in a spilled over to the wall and sylvie show because it was a poll question that sylvie put out is 2012 and 3700 yards would you say that's a successful first year for calib williams and the 95 percent of the people that voted said yeah uh houston's offense ranked 11th by yards but keep in mind straddle only had 23 touchdowns so if you're asking for 30 from calib well he also threw for 4,300 plus yards yeah but you don't get points off those so if you're asking for 30 from calib and 4,000 you're gonna end up being a top 10 offense great yeah and it need to be i would like for them to be that that would be it would be nice to see but 20 26 and 12 and 3700 yards for a rookie quarterback is progress with this offense it definitely is progress and a lot to build on you're not going to get all your cake in year one you're just not you're not going to get all in year one but i think moving forward as he learns as wall drain learns as the offensive line everyone else learns offensively it's going to get better what was starting today what was uh empty 10 mitch turbisky in his first year as a starter oh look that up boys would you look that up boys please please he was 24 and 12 with 3200 yards pass the rating of 95 so all right shay norley all right well no mention his rookie year was seven and seven you're looking at his first know i said his first full year as a starter first full year as a starter was 2018 they went 12 and four uh darnell right had a solid rookie season attack last year but camp so far based on some reports has left a bit to be desired so far the reports that darnell right has been unable to block montas sweat i don't think that's a death sentence blocking montas sweat is a very difficult thing to do but you do expect a little more out of a tackle now it is second year that you used a top 10 pick in the draft on shot or no shot there is zero reason for concern with darnell right look if he's blocking montas sweat then you know what first take shay's question would be we should be concerned about montas sweat because a second year right tackle's handling him montas sweat's one of the best past rushers in football he got a hundred million dollar deal because he's that freaking good unless you tell me darnell writes on his back every day getting crushed steamrolled if he's struggling with montas sweat guess what that's part of the deal yeah that's a that's a no shot there there is no there is no concern about that matchup montas sweat is elite at his position darnell writes learning and sharp and iron if you like to say no question and so that's that's why and shay you know how this works right when you're a coach you see both sides of it he's like oh montas is ready darnell right well he's getting a learning experience right he's going to school they're taking on montas sweat and so the hope is is that in the regular season darnell right realize like okay montas sweat is stuff is pretty tough when i go into my match-ups i realize what i got to do to hold off defenders like montas sweat's at the top one of the tops so it's going to happen i get what i'm saying is as a coach i wonder what the offensive line coach thinks does he just shrug his shoulders like well that's montas sweat what are you going to do right what are you going to do right he's that good shay all right i am uh angry about the iraq fettie trade yesterday when it went down i looked at it as bizarre with the dodgers effectively paying the freight for the cardinals to acquire fettie and fam and the dodgers just took on tami edman who hasn't played this season fettie is on pace for like a seven war season at baseball reference it would place him among the best in baseball this year he's currently second in the american league and wins above replacement among all pitchers three one one e r a he's got a seven and four record on the worst team in baseball got traded in a package with two other players for two prospects and an ml beer neither prospect ranked in the top 15 of the dodgers system i just thought it was odd and a little light and then late last night you say kuchi a pitcher who uh stinks and has a point two war and a four seven five e r a gets moved for three prospects two of them in the top fifteen of houston system and i look at this and go chris gets did a bad job shot or no shot the rest of the league looked at an inexperienced chris gets like a pinata that's a shot that's a shot and i know that sounds harsh but again look at what former general manager jim boden said look at the facts of what the socks were able to get back what i would like to see i a top ten uh prospect shore cap but get a here's the thing you can get top ten prospects but who are they going to be in five years on this franchise with this team who are they going to be and by the way if they're good will you pay them when its contract time comes around if the same ownership is in place no mister question if they had not drafted andrew vaughan third and they had drafted bobby wit jr second who went right in front of him bobby wit got 285 million by the royals before the season they called the press conference and the owner said that's the face of our franchise we're locking him up he got like 10 years do you think the white socks would have done that no chance nope now here's the thing this is not the whole he'd be a boob you know with the socks cap on he would not be bobby would junior would be a really good player for the white socks no question but it comes to nut cut in time contract time he wouldn't get he wouldn't get the money right not correct unfortunately correct they would try and get we'll give you 40 million and see if we can lock you up for five years no not going to happen i just we're a bad way to do business man just wish that the the organization the baseball side of the organization would be on par with the amenities and the bread and circuses and the good time at guaranteed rate if that can match up or you have hell of franchise yeah that's the problem no question i wish the food and the good times there and the people that work there are hard busting your ass for the white socks would be on the same par i wish the ball club was on the same par as them well said you're correct it's just not it's not restaurant quality you are correct it just isn't shake can you squeeze in one more uh yeah we got some reports this morning bob night and gill first jesse roger's also got in on this texting me he believes it as well garret crochet the white socks expect will be moved today jesse said he thinks crochet will be moved the padres the dodgers the braves all intrigued by crochet shot or no shot this time tomorrow garret crochet will not be a white sock that's a shot come on jesse that's a shot it's everything that we read that's a good take jesse take that crag if nine gale said it must go it must be true if i need my white socks information that's where i go first he's just tapped in on the white socks it's jerry is so it will happen if mine nine gale said it then it's going to happen yep agreed he'll be gone any in louise robert not so much it's weird she i just went to the white socks uh page on espan.com and it got bit point defender well let me in oh boy well that's strange yeah that whole bit point defender thing that's a segment in and of itself i mean my god i tried to click on the sun times one morning bit point defender has blocked you what clearly the white socks page on espan.com makes the computer sick well honestly goody you might be spared not going to that page you won't have to see that the white socks trade crochet for albert pooholes birth certificate these these these teams i'm telling you they're looking at chris gets you hit him and stuff falls out like that that that trade yesterday is just ridiculous no i hear you no i i i i agree with you a hundred percent i totally understand however no matter what they get back those players more likely will not be in the system the way that the socks are so poor with development it is continues it has to turn around now here is the thing i'm giving gets a chance but with that ownership he won't be he won't get the same backup that most general managers would get correct hey it's contract time okay well he's been good for the organization he's productive pay them it's not going to happen here agreed like nick was in here going the cops could spend more sure they could no question you compare what the cops meant to what the white socks do oh my god it's like a different sport if i want to be an ace fan i'd butter my fat ass into the the coliseum seats and be an ace fan that's not what i'm what i'm here for i'm a socks fan in in chicago in a major city correct and and that's how they run their franchise the ace and the socks are the same way gotta be better yep gotta be better by a lot of socks hate today cap any thoughts on uh your team's start and tie on to get shelled a day ahead of the deadline yesterday well because they're not trading him that's tough timing i mean i'm sure that his mind wasn't completely locked in where it was supposed to be am i getting traded i don't know should i go warm up yeah go warm up he got obliterated yesterday yeah he was terrible yeah terrible six you give up six i think yep that's his worst start of the year taking on chris spires who can play a little short stop a little second in start for you pretty good for the red it's not chris spire that was spier huh he's i don't even think he's alive anymore you're always killing people oh my gosh i think chris spire died around the nfl is coming up and don't forget al brian with the latest on the uh hold on a minute albert brian with the latest on the biers on the nfl he's through he's alive he's 74 you're an a-hole yeah you know what i mean always killing people he's dead kid he's dead kid he's he's alive see former baseball player he is 74 married to katie yeah son justin pitched for the cubs and others sure yeah he's alive sorry chris i knew when he was a cubs third base coach it's a good man i thought he yeah wait to be clear he still is a good man yeah that was a good man because he's alive yeah he's alive he is alive sorry chris didn't mean to kill you as we continue to talk about the the late chris spire here on cap and jhood around the nfl on chicago's home for sports if you miss something get the podcast on the esp and chicago app jap and jhood are back on chicago's home for sports esp and chicago nip both sucks he sucks i'm just a fan i'm not a football about here i love the green bay package the guy is wrong but there he goes this is not Detroit man this is the Super Bowl i love winter he starts to come at a moment this is a really thickly built guy i mean what's sounds so you're looking for all these things here it's now time to go around the nfl right here on the cap and jay good morning show on esp and one thousand and streaming on the esp and chicago app albert brill will join us at eight thirty five with the latest from the bears in the nfl but right now let's go around the nfl news and notes here's shay norlin shay all right i want to ask a question about the bears as we get ready for the hall of fame game yeah i want to revisit the carolina trade that brought calib william's to chicago obviously you got the j moor you got the pick that resulted in darnell right you got the pick that resulted in calib williams if this plays out the way we all hope and calib williams wins a super bowl in chicago will this go down is one of the greatest trades in nfl history there's no doubt this would go down is one of the greatest trades in nfl history you got dj more darnell right because you were able to use your pick on that calib williams uh what else came in that deal tyreek stevenson was it and you've got their second pick next year yeah this will go down as one of the greatest trades the her shall walker trades at a different level but this name me another one that was as good as this rick mire traded to the bears in 97 they'll make me say i remember the day they did that if i knew one he then like i know one he now i would have gone are you out of your mind rick mire stinks yeah i know yeah brutal brutal how many super bowls does calib need to win for that trade to be better than the her shall walker trade how many steve young win at least traded to the 49ers in 87 two i think right all right i'll take two you know he was traded to the bear from tampa and the 49er rolled in and made a godfather offer over the topic so we'll throw a million in cash and mike mikaski rest in peace said oh we can't do that we'll give you the pick yeah it was a first round pick and they 49ers said here's the million i will take that deal yeah steve young see this is a great example cap that's how our younger listeners and viewers that you want to have football people making football decisions that's correct he was not a football man that is correct mike would tell you but he was not cap that is correct see right a football man wouldn't have done that they would have built around a steve young but i post super bowl you want to have someone that could you can grow and be dynamic imagine that we would never have had the mess with flute or any of that sheh uh yesterday in new england a no good very very bad day for their first padded practice the patriots matthew judon doesn't suit up heated conversations with front office members and the head coach leaves practice gajah doesn't put on pads doesn't practice four players run penalty laps for mistakes the entire offense runs a penalty lap uh josh uche kicked out for fighting and drake may reportedly at a rough day including a pick six is it too early to just go that team's going to be the worst in football it's it's trending that way one of them for sure certainly trending in that direction now here's the thing sheh when it comes to the patriots post-bell check there was going to be some slippage all the way to the bottom possibly but the point is though is that the undisciplined nature of the players on that roster that's a bad sign that's a bad sign you have a bad day if it's a trend that's a bad problem for mayo how will this matthew judon 34 33 because if i'm ryan poles how are you not picking up the phone and calling the gm up in new england 31 31 okay uh you guys are gonna suck i'll give you a pick let me have judon and i'll pay him mhm matthew judon on the other end oh oh doctor sure it might come to that sooner than later if it keeps going like this again you're gonna have some you know you're gonna have some growing pains post-bell check you're already there anyway cap and now it's going to be probably worse before it gets better but that undisciplined nature guys walking off you can't do that sheh you know that team better than the three of us combined how good is i know matthew judon i've watched him but you pay attention to them like you do to your college football video game how good is matthew judon he's fantastic when he's healthy fantastic he was he healthy now he was involved yeah i think so he was awesome when he was in Baltimore he was awesome the year that he was healthy with the Patriots they had a top defensive unit really led by him i think your problem is he plays the same side as montas sweat so you got to flip him that's easier said than done typically hey miss 13 games last season had that torn biceps if he's healthy i'd have to know my doctor said he's good to go can he make the flip can montas make the whatever if it would work let's go trace a few guys i mean as sound retic still doesn't have a deal he keeps getting fined every day he's not at jets camp they're idiots they don't want to pay him for whatever reason despite having traded for him knowing he wants a contract to find polls i'm on the phone there i see judon loses mind in new england i'm on the phone there i'd be interested in divine gacha Trey Henderson still Trey Hendricks issues not practicing for Cincinnati let's go man hey yes mayo there he's no bellichach i'll tell you that that brother i need some help he does now some of these guys like i saw a lot in the Dorchester you're on the air go ahead i saw a lot of talk about Tristan Worf's and Tampa he's not getting a deal right now some struggles there he's going to become the highest paid tackle in football he's going to be in Tampa Bay Trey Hendrickson i have a feeling is going to be a Cincinnati Bengal he's not going anywhere they'll get it done but retic and judon stand out to me as guys that the relationship might be irreparable on the teams that they're on there really could be an opportunity to strike oh let's go you want to do that huh you want to do that right away right i mean if i could get an elite i'm talking elite pass rusher why would i not do that quin and quincy you're on the air on ei go ahead i don't know this uh mayo there i don't know elegant wolf ah what a quambo he's the gm out there what a quambo i don't know heli at ryan polls yeah what do you want i'll give you a fourth round pick right now sure hello hello who's this this is chicago bears man right here's shade oil let's go did you see this story about tommy devito tommy cutlets tommy from the new york giants played a little bit last year screwed up their draft positioning a lot of giants fans hate him because he came in and won games they should have lost yeah tommy devito obviously not going to be the starting quarterback daniel jones has that job and devito said it's up to the giants if they want to gamble on losing him no i don't know who has a bigger pair of tommy devito him or his agent has he still got the same agent yeah that lunatic i think he's doing cameos now yeah that's all marketing and smoking mirrors man good for good for that agent he got him out there quickly won a couple of games my god okay tommy special quarterback huh okay probably not be not he's just good as a backup he can still make money as a backup just be that guy pinch hitter he just went out did his job yep tall he did you know pride and joy at a university in Illinois now we turn to albert brayer that's coming up next we find out more for the bears in the nfl albert brayer from s i dot com and money morning quarterback will join us next on the cap and jhood morning shoe truth of the matter is you're listening to cap and jhood on espn one thousand weekdays seven to ten a.m. but it'll last a lifetime it may only be three hours a day but it'll last you a lifetime hello football on espn one thousand hello bird albert brayer a bird senior nfl writer for s i dot com joins cap and jhood bird set what you're at bird on espn one thousand what do you mean i'm we see that's the game i just tag you and you're in until you tag somebody else albert brayer no no i'm not playing a game i'm reading and i'm not fit okay on chicago's home for sports what bird is it albert brayer with us every uh tuesday at a 35 right here on the cap and jhood morning show and albert's on the hotline he's on the car xteranado hotline rattle rattle thunder batter boom boom boom don't worry about the car xteran good morning albert how are you good morning guys what's up we are awesome that we have the hall of fame game is on thursday and i'm here in calen's not you guys gotta be so fired up for that oh yes so excited um i used to i used to fall into that trap when i was younger i'd be really fired up football back on tv and then it takes like three minutes for you to like remember what they're actually putting out there so uh yeah i don't know i don't know a lot of them i actually made it through a hall of fame yeah calen's not gonna they haven't announced this but i'm hearing it's the calen's not going to see the field it a lot of the starters are not it's going to be like tyson beigeant at uh starting at quarterback does that surprise you at all no um you know i i think like the part of the problem with a game like this where you know nobody's going to play is um you know when you get in the like the the the the second preseason game stay um and you have a lot of starters out there i do think that there's like a little bit more of an understanding of taking care of each other and players always talk about this right knowing how to practice um and take a while for an NFL player to learn how to practice and what that means is you are going out there and you're practicing hard you're working on your craft but you know everybody has the same goal which is to get to the regular season which is each week during the regular season to get to sunday as healthy as you possibly can um and i do think like you know in those three seasonings when starters are out there i there there is a code and there is a let's take care of each other and you know i i i think when you get deeper into the game that exists a little bit less because you have younger players out there who are fighting for roster spots and um you know i i think that's a big part of the reason that kind of goes unspoken um to why you know teams do this and that's why coaches quite honestly communicate with each other before preseason games and try to get each other if they've got a relationship their plans for who they're going to put out there and that's why oftentimes you see the approach that two teams match up you know because um you know it's not a great situation to be in to put your starting players out there against guys who are way down the roster and trying to make teams you know so i think that's a huge part of it you know you you aren't going to go into this game with the other team wanting to risk much at all and so you know by you know by rule then it like you would say it's not what's risking my guys an environment that might be a little bit less controlled than the starters were out there. Albert what does it say about the development or lack of development of quarterbacks in the NFL when you are faced to having to pay when i would say middle of the road or above average quarterbacks the money that's being doled out now there was a time that all three of us the audience grew up in which you had your your starter and your backup was a veteran that you would would that be embarrassing that could actually help you so what does that say for these teams like i'll use Miami's example with Tua like there's no there's nothing after Tua so it's like we'll get a pam there's nothing after Daniel Jones we got a pam so what does that say about development or lack thereof in the league yeah well hoodie first of all i would say i feel like i have to say this and you know and i genuinely mean it like i'm really happy for Tua based on everything that he's been through that he did get paid you know because like that hip injury he had in college very well could have ended his career the concussion thing was scary as hell so i'm i'm really like glad that he got to the point where he could secure that kind of wealth for his family that's first of all um and i just feel like in this case in particular it's important that you say that first you know i i don't know man like this is in a problem forever where it's really you know that the spending a quarterback gets out of control and then it gets to a tipping point and then everybody's trying to figure out where like the fee level is for the quarterbacks and creatively figure out ways to pay the second-year quarterbacks a little bit differently um and i think right now where you see that is in the cash flow in the outs right like so Joe burrow for instance is getting his cash a lot faster than Trevor Lawrence and Joe burrow has guarantees for longer than Trevor Lawrence does over the likes of this contract right Joe burrow's contract provides him way more security long term than Tua has with his contract which is basically a three-year deal or Jordan love as his contract which is basically a three-year deal and i think like we got to the point where the numbers are staying across the board the teams are afraid of what's behind door number two and they don't want to be in confident that position because that can lead to you getting fired right but i would i would argue that there are better answers behind door number two than we've seen in the past and you look look at them with the bucks dip right let me ask you guys this is bigger may feel the worst quarterback the monsterably worst quarterback than to a jungle ball he's not actually baker the baker's gotten better baker deserves i don't think he is right i don't think he's worse than he's half the price right um is do you know sniff that much worse than Tua no and they both have come are coming off really good years right so like if you're one of these teams could you say you know what we're going to draw a line right here you take it or leave it you don't want to find that's generational wealth in the table but you know we're going to go out and do something else after the year and trust that there's going to be an answer to that i give the Vikings prior for drawing a lot you know but the Vikings did it and now i'd say if you're the dolphins like and i i just did this a couple different places you know i would have drawn a line with two and i would say no we love you to us we'll pay you 40 right but we got to draw a line somewhere and if you don't want to take it play the year out go to free agency and like look like Atlanta might be wanting to deal us to her cousins and the big money is off of this contract now and we can get them for you know half what you cost right so i just think that if you're creative about it there are more answers behind door number two that have been in the past but i i you know understandably teams are afraid to go into that great unknown the way say the Vikings did this off season or you know even the buck in the years did after Tom Brady last in terms of the bears defense everyone's saying they look amazing at camp and iron hardens iron and it's Caleb going up against this great defense but the bears are still in the market to maybe maybe bring in help on the D line we saw Matthew Judon stormotic Patriots camp Trey Hendrickson's not practicing Hassan Renek's not practicing are any of these guys available in a deal i would say Hendrickson no i would say retic no if i were the bears i would pick up the phone and call about judon um i just here's the thing with the judon situation and like the reason i say no on retic is because the jets just acquired him and they're in wind now mode and i think retic knows that and i think retic is taking advantage of it probably smartly right and so he is in a spot where he can say you need me to win right now you need to replace Bryce off on the defensive line you should pay me now Trey Hendrickson i think eventually gets his you know payday there in Cincinnati um you know because again they're another team that's in a wind now position i you know i i just i look at it with judon in New England and you know like they paid Christian bar more they paid a lot of other guys want to get his judon and he's set to make seven and a half million dollars this year and um i just i don't know how far we're gonna have to go and make him happy but i don't think it's a million or two you know i think it's more than that and so i would at least fish around that one if i were the bears and i think he could be a really good fit for um you know for for for uh neti repluces defense so yeah i mean if i if i were the bears that's probably the one i would make a phone call on and a lot of it has to do with the the fact that the jets you know in the um and the bangles are prime suitable contenders and the patriots are not caliber brear with us here every Tuesday on the cap and jayhood morning show you're at 49ers camp and everything every time i think about san francisco i think san francisco's got a lot going for them but blank and there's always this blank right so what what's missing from the 49ers we'll try williams right now and i mean gren and i u um you know they're sort of in this position where they've got and again like it's uh a champagne problem of course you know too many good players not enough money to go around um but you know i think what we're seeing across the league right now is more and more players are not afraid to put their foot down and say mid contract i want an adjustment and i want that adjustment now and um you know i think if his players have seen what's happened with older players teams are getting more aggressive about getting rid of players when they lose the step and they know those years and the back ends of their contract aren't going to be honored or you credit them for for having the business sense to think that way and so you know we've seen matthew saffron get a bump um we saw max cos we get a bump and then they're in san francisco we saw christian mcafrae get a bump and they paid mcafrae first because they knew if they paid i u before mcafrae that could cause a problem right because then you know this mcafrae want more um and now you know because you saw mcafrae get paid you got trent william say well wait a minute i'm making 20 this year there's a huge number around 30 in two years you need to move some money up and give it to me now so i did the business things are what they're working through from a football standpoint i think all these guys will be on the field in september and um it's a loaded loaded team i mean we were asking a lot of questions about four or back a year ago i don't think we're asking those questions anymore if they're like all in there if they're full whole tron when we get to september i don't know where the hole on the on the roster is it last thing for me tristan worfs is also a guy who they said is miles apart with the buccaneers if the bears call that said uh brackston jones and a pic can they get or no shot no shot um the bucces the bucces a lot of tristan worfs and tristan worfs is very much a part of the future um you do not you do not deal away i need to start what miami did um a few years ago is later me tonsil you generally do not trade away a top five tackle so um you know things aren't in the best spot right now but i i'd assume the bucks find a middle ground at some point with tristan worfs they have every intention of signing a long term um you know i look at it sort of like the i u situation um the difference being that like the peniners have a wealth of scale position players um you know in in in bibles haniel and george kittle and christian mcafery where the the buccaneers don't really have a safety net pass worth the tackle so so yeah man i i i uh i would be surprised that the niner is traded bring nayu i would be shocked if the buck's traded tristan worfs what is going on at patriots camp frank from fault riva can't be happy about uh guys walking off the camp have you seen this what is going on albert that's that's not good for the first year male yeah what i said earlier i mean i i think that there's a couple things that were you know first they've paid a lot of guys and i show they had to do that because under under bellish that they were very very tight about who they paid very disciplined about who they paid so you know i think they want to reward guys in the locker room and create um you know a good environment in there and make guys feel appreciated the problem with that is you can't pay everybody and you know when you pay one guy the next guy is going to notice and the next guy and and a lot of guys in a locker room you know i think i would argue probably all of them i can't say that for a fact but a lot of guys are in there keeping score and um you know i think that's a big part of you know what we saw with mathy jude on yesterday and um you know there's also that whole you know substitute teacher thing you know i covered the cowboys um i was in the the beat of the Dallas morning news the year after built ourselves last and i remember like that first year they were really good but there was like this feeling in the locker room like like the like the the really the really tough hard-nosed teacher had left there was a substitute there and that wasn't really way it's fault it's just what the players were coming off of and so that's something i think that your odd male that's sort of saying you know that's something your odd male has to have his radar up for hey man have a great rest of your day enjoy your camp tours and we'll see you soon thanks guys appreciate it see you there he is Albert Brier on the car it's tire and not all rattle rattle thunder batter boom boom boom don't worry about the car accident cap and jhood weekday morning seven to ten this is cap and jhood they beat in the traffic commute so you don't have to on ESPN Chicago cap and jhood on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app thanks for being with us here on this Tuesday morning cap uh you had something that you want to talk about regarding katelyn clark so dawn staley was doing an interview with mike toriko at the olympics and she's on the selection committee and make sure maggie sketches listening to this upstairs because you and i both felt maggie's a huge team USA fan as all of us are she and i differ on that katelyn clark got screwed not being on the olympic team and not only did she get screwed it was one of the single dumbest decisions that the olympic committee and the selection people have ever made they showed the press conference the other day for team USA basketball through like six people there six put katelyn clark in there the rooms packed damn packed and she's playing at an incredible level do you realize that as of this conversation i'm having with you right now she has more assisted 74.5 of all WNBA players all time all time she didn't even finish one season she's been killing it and so here is dawn staley on the interview talking about her thoughts now about that selection as a committee member you're charged with putting together best team of players the best talent um katelyn is just a rookie in the WNBA um wasn't playing bad but wasn't playing like she's playing now if we had to do it all over again the way that she's playing um she will be in really high consideration of making the team because she is playing head and shoulders above a lot of people shooting a ball extremely well i mean she is a elite passer um she's just got a great basketball iq and she's a little more seasoned in the in the pro game in a couple of months yeah in a couple of months as she was two months ago okay that's hoodie when you watch a freshman start playing you go man when we get to january that freshman's gonna be really good February better march madness lookout when we had kenny battle as a freshman raw the first game against the paul guess what he still scored 20 some points and by the end of the freshman year he's on the all freshman team first team all american katelyn clark anybody with two eyes that knew anything about basketball would go i'll give her a little bit of seasoning she's going to be amazing look at angel reese how much better she's played as she's gotten more and more reps in the WNBA but the idiots on that selection committee oh we can't put katelyn on there we need a 64-year-old diana terrazzi and we got to have this one and we got to have that one because they're all freaking jealous of what she's brought to that league and that decision was idiocy take that coming up next we will talk about the jacago bears and katelyn's meaning the press that's in two minutes on the cap and jay good morning show
