[MUSIC] Good morning and welcome in to the Captain J. Hood Morning Show on ESPN 1000. And streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. What David Kaplan, Jonathan Hood with you, now time for a shot or no shot brought to you by. >> That would be ESPN bat live in Illinois, download the ESPN bat app. Get $100 in free bets when you make any sports book. >> That bet. >> We take a good morning to Shay Winger in early. >> Good morning boys, how are we feeling on a Tuesday? >> We're good man, I'm getting to be here with you guys. Yeah, it's a good day. I like the idea that I can go around the Major League Baseball package and find good baseball. Right before bed, Lil Dodger's last night, Lil Dodger. >> I did the two recaps, I passed out. >> No, no, no, no, no, no, there's always money making opportunities pal, so that's fine. Well, I'm telling you what I was doing, I'm not going to worry about what you're doing. >> How do you get the stamina? Aren't you tired? >> No, no, I'm the energizer bunny, but I was wiped. >> No, the morning show energizes me, are you kidding me? A little Dodger, San Francisco, a very good game by the way, Dodger Giant last night. Dodger's went three, two Dodger Moneyline, got to watch the investment. Are you kidding me? When you've worked at night, for what, 15 years or whatever, that whole scene was happening on the West Coast, never leaves you. It doesn't leave me, not the entire game. >> Yeah, when I was working nights I was like you, I'd be up until one, two in the morning watching, whatever, late night game and then support center. >> Yeah, but I mean, not the entire game. I'm not a maniac, but I am going to just check in every now and then, and it eases you into the nightcap. A little West Coast baseball, nice and quiet, Dodger Stadium, Dodger's a good pitching duel. >> Is she all watching with you? >> She's fast asleep here, or she's watching some on Facebook. >> And you said you had your Dodger Moneyline, guess what? The other day, I put together a really good parlay, six legs. My wife said, who are you betting on? I read her how I handicapped it, she's like, you're going to lose. I said, why? Because you have the Cubs in there, over the Diamondbacks, Saturday. I went five and one. The only game I lost was the Cubs. I still haven't heard the end of it. >> You don't have to share all everything with everybody, that's the problem. She's not on your side cap, brutal cap. She's not on your side. She doesn't treat you well. Here's Shae Norley. >> Shae, she's the best. >> No, she does not treat you. I've been saying it for years. >> She's the best. >> As a friend, I'm telling you, she was the, she supposed to be a good luck charm. >> Honey, I hope the tree will get your parlay. You're going to lose. >> She said, I hope you do, but you're going to lose. Don't bet on the Cubs. >> That's the worst. >> She was right. >> All right, Shae. >> All right, let's get started. Shot or no shot. Bears training camp. Definitely under a microscope this offseason, but the news coming out of Hallis Hall has been overwhelmingly positive so far. >> What's happening in there? >> Little speaker action. Yesterday, Matt Ebert Flus talks about the new offensive cadence. There were some struggles at mini camp, but now he said it's been awesome, how well they're getting into and learning new snap counts, how well they're getting in and out of the huddle. And Ebert Flus said it is all a testament to Caleb Williams entirely on him, the effectiveness of the cadence and getting in and out of the huddle, getting into the snap. All of it to Caleb. Shot or no shot. Matt Ebert Flus is taking yet another shot at Justin Field. >> Shot. >> Oh. Shot. Let me come on, he's just telling you what he sees. >> This is all credit to Caleb. >> Yeah, they made their choice. And I told the cult members in November, they're done, they're done with Justin. >> Absolutely not. They're getting the haul, they're trading. >> Yeah. >> Oh, the old haul. >> Yeah, how'd that haul work out for you? >> Hello. Jacob Quarterback in Pittsburgh, and Caleb Williams is the guy with the plan in his hand, ready for the bear. >> What's that? >> The plan in his hand. >> I'll see. Go ahead. >> And did you see the quotes from A, Demarcus Walker yesterday, talking about how the national and LA media, he said, shame on them how they talked about this kid. Get to know him, sit down with him in the cafeteria and you'll find out what a good kid he is. How hard he works. And then Keenan Allen said they both stayed at the hotel right by the practice facility during minicamp. They'd watch the NBA finals together and they would quiz each other, all right, here's the play call and you had to go up on a board and draw it. He said, this kid knows everything about our offensive playbook. I love it. >> I would say that's a no shot, Shay. I mean, I think there's two different things he's talking about there. It's not a direct shot at Justin Fields. I think he's just kind of telling you that that's the way it's supposed to look, more so than just throwing Justin Fields on the bus. That's the way it's supposed to look. We have all the command and the huddle and all the things the quarterback is supposed to do. Shay. >> Yeah, I'm with you, hoodie. Cap came in on fire about Eber Flus taking shots at Fields. I think Eber Flus is just saying, we struggled with this at minicamp, we're not struggling with it anymore. Caleb's done a great job. >> That's exactly right. And so it will happen. Cap will be straightened out by somebody at house hall. He'll get a text and he'll have to do an about face about that. Here's Shay Norley. >> Aaron Rodgers. Was. >> I was told that he was not a shot at Justin Field J. You're wrong. >> I didn't say that he went to the podium like intending to take a shot. It is just perceived that way. Yeah. >> You're doing about face. Don't worry about Shay. Just bookmark it. >> No shot. >> Go right ahead. >> Aaron Rodgers joined the part in my take podcast this week. He was asked about his opinion on the Bears this season and said he actually likes them. >> Aaron Rodgers. >> It is Robbie. He's on TV. >> Robbie Gold's on TV. Listen, you and I are good friends now, because you're out of my life. And I wanted to do this interview just to be like, thank you, you're out of my life. Let's start. >> But then the Bears lost to Jay Love and the Packers twice last year? >> I got some other issues I'm dealing with that are not, it doesn't pertain to you anymore. I got other issues. I'm working through that. >> I found new love. >> We got new, we got a new quarterback. I'm going to figure out. >> How are we feeling? Feeling good about Caleb and all the changes. >> So cool. >> And Andre Swift and. >> You like him. >> You like him. You think Caleb's a good quarterback. >> Yeah, I do. >> Yeah. >> I like Swift. I like Kenan. >> DJ. >> I like the receiver from Washington. >> Yeah. >> Yeah. >> Rome. >> Oh, and then of course. So you got DJ? >> Yeah, DJ. >> So. >> And you were flust. >> I think the team is almost good enough to beat the Packers. >> You got out at the right time. I know. >> Come on. You got out at the right time. You knew that it was changing. So you're like, I got to get out of here. >> I don't know about that. >> So you can finish with your. >> Who do you got on defense? >> Montez. >> Montez. >> Yeah, Montez, Swift. >> Are secondaries pretty good? >> I like Edmonds. >> Yeah. >> We're going to be. >> Yeah. >> And I know that you're coming. >> I think it'd be close game with the Packers. >> I don't like it. >> Do you still take any pleasure when the Packers beat the Bears? >> Oh, yeah, I love it. Yeah. >> But you're a jet now. >> Man. You're a jet, you're a jet all the way. >> So there you go. Bears almost good enough to beat the Packers and Aaron Rodgers' mind. Shot or no shot. If you gave Aaron Rodgers' truth serum, he'd say the Bears are good enough to beat the Packers. >> That's a shot. He'll never admit it because he's, you know, a packer at heart. I get it, but I completely believe he's looking going, wow, they got something going on there at Chicago. >> I think that if he was still at the Packers, he wouldn't feel that way. I think he's just that, he's been that good against the Bears and no matter who they put against him, he would find a way. I think that, I think that he is admiring what the Bears are doing, but not to the point where he thinks that the Packers are low because he mentioned Jay Love. He mentioned him. He said he beat him twice, didn't he? So I think that he feels strongly that the Packers can still be able to beat the Bears. That's what I believe. He's just that daft that he believes that anybody can do it. I mean, seriously, I mean, I think he's a Jay Love guy. I think he believes that Jay Love can do it again, another two wins against the Bear. No matter who the Bears have. Caleb Williams, he asks who's on the defense, Montez Sweatt, he likes the linebackers. Yeah. Yeah. You know, it is amazing. He still asked Green Bay questions. That guy's a jet. All the questions should be about, hey, man, so you're so, you're so, such the great quarterback that you could just miss mini camp. You say that's about football, but yet it's not about football for you, but it's got to be for everyone else. It's just a, he's just a weird individual. He'll never win a championship again, but I don't think he gets asked Green Bay questions except by our guy, Big Cat, which is cool because Big Cat lives here now. He's back home. And McAfee. Yeah, he doesn't ask you too many Bear questions though. Oh, you like them on McAfee every day. I'm a, you know, I like, I find Aaron compelling to watch and listen to whatever he's talking about. I like him. I don't cheer for him, hated him when he was a Packer quarterback, but I do think he's an interesting interview and I think he gets asked that because Big Cat's a Bear. Still holding out hope for that one on one on Aaron Rodgers, huh? I don't want the interview. I want dinner. Oh, that's why you don't want to talk to him on the record. I don't need to. I want to just sit down and have dinner with him and talk about whatever. That's about right. Shae. All right. Some news this morning. What is that tapping noise? By the way, is anybody else hearing that or is that my headphones? No, I hear it. I don't know. It sounded like cap was tapping his mic. It was starting to frustrate the hell out of me. All right. Hands have not moved. They're right here. Sorry. Moving on. It was bothering. Well, if you want an answer, I can give you an answer. Shae. Would you like one? Would love one. Okay. This table is loose. It is. See that? Oh, that's what it is. That's what it is. It's a loose mic. Our mics are not tight. Damn. If you're part of the expression, that's a problem. That's why when you hear cap, I don't understand why the cops are. That's why it sounds like that. My hands are like, like, they're not moving. I mean, hoodie, I swear. I thought cap was like, no, but it was driving me nuts. I'm sorry. Let's move on. Shat or no shot. Some news this morning on the West side. United Center owners, Rhinestor from the Word's family planning massive $7 billion mixed-use campus around the arena. They would include a music hall, housing, park, pedestrian-friendly spaces as a 10-year development project to overhaul the parking lots around the United Center. This is not a bash Rhinestorf Bash Word's family thing because they're doing something good. They're paying for this all privately. There is not expected to be a public tax ask none of it, but it brings me to my question, the fact that they can afford to do this privately, shot or no shot. We'd like to see some of that money go into the teams. That's a shot. It's always about the team first. You want to have this philanthropy and try to do things outside of sports? That's fine, but ultimately I want to see championships. I want the money spent on increasing your chances to win a championship. That's always first for me. I'm a sports fan, after all. Yeah, I think the Hawks are going to spend at the cap or right there. As they should. This is more about the Bulls than it is about the Black Hawks. The Black Hawks, I think, are building something real. Yeah, the Hawks won three cups. Now they're rebuilding. I get it. The fact that the Bulls and White Sox are two of the more pitiful franchises going in their respective sports, that's unfortunate. That falls right at one man's feet. Jerry, that's a fact. We turn now to native West Side or Jay Moore with the rest of this story, a West Side with the green space, mixed income housing and music hall and more. That sound something that should happen on the West Side. Absolutely. We definitely need it. Yeah. Absolutely. Mixed income housing and a music hall and more so. I'm trying to figure out what that looks like. Are they trying to recreate the next Rosemont with housing? I mean, Rosemont is pretty nice. It is. Rosemont's awesome. It is. No question about it. That would be so good on the West Side. That would be so good on the West Side. My wife, she's like, Mayor Stevens is trying an awesome job here. You understand the question I'm asking? I'm like, is that the kind of, I'm trying to envision what that, what that looks like. Is that what kind of looks like? I mean, based on the description. Well, they don't have the housing in Rosemont that I think this is going to have. Mm hmm. Well, exactly. I'm just saying with a music hall, that's what I'm talking about. Like in a green space, all these things just fan friendly. They have the green space in Rosemont where they do, I think like every Thursday night they have yoga and Pilates, they do a lot of cool stuff, concerts out there. They have a bunch of cool restaurants. We've been there with the station for Joe's live. Yes. And Bub City. So, yes. Super cool, man. 63,000 construction jobs according to the piece in the Sun times. That's a lot given back to the community and they're paying for it. All good. 2,000 permanent jobs. Really good. Then paying for it is the big thing for me as long as you're not asking for taxes because then you always question, is it going to get done in the amount of time that you say? Is it going to look the way that you say it's going to look? But right now you drive over to the United Center and like you come out of the beautiful West Loop area into the United Center District, it kind of looks dumpy. It's just run down parking lots and chain link fence. And Cheerian Rocky paid for the United Center themselves. Yeah. And that thing has held up the test of time. That thing is gorgeous still. Also, you have the park there, right? I mean, you're not going to take away too many of my parking spaces. I still be able to get some good parking space in there, right? I think a parking facility is on the list of things that's going to be added here as well. Super cool. Just concern. I want to make sure that you're not taking away one of my prime spaces for this whole project. You know, it's the great myth of the parking lot because you have all these spaces that people buy up the lot and then they just hang on to it and Jerry bought back a lot of those lots. But if you build a parking structure and stack them, it takes up less space. Imagine that. That's the correct. That's actually correct. If you stacked up your spot, it's not as much space, but they do that in the west side. Maybe our tourists will get you a spot over the advocates. Around the NFL is coming up next Albert Breyer with the latest around the NFL with us as well at 835. Captain Jay Hood on Chicago's Home for Sports. If you missed something, get the podcast on the ESPN Chicago app. Jab and Jay Hood are back on Chicago's Home for Sports. ESPN Chicago. Nick Boulds sucks. He sucks. I'm just a fan. I'm not a football evaluator. I love the Green Bay Packers. The guy is front, but there he goes. This is not Detroit, man. This is the Super Bowl. I love winning. He starts to come. This is a really thickly built guy. I mean, what's the answer you're looking for on these things here? It's time to go around the NFL right here on the Captain Jay Hood Morning Show on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app with you till 10 o'clock that Mike Greenberg comes in at 10. Carl New York going 12 waddle and Sylvie 230 to 630 into White Sox baseballs to take on the Rangers. A 630 pregame right here on the home of the White Sox, ESPN 1000, Blecken Abdullah. They will be on YouTube, youtube.com. Look for Blecken Abdullah on their YouTube channel around the NFL with Shane Weller. All right. Jordan Love dominating the NFL headlines today is he's not practicing. This is not a huge surprise. He doesn't have a contract. So he's not going to practice to start training camp for the Green Bay Packers. The sticking point reportedly in the contract negotiations is not structure. It is money, which leads me to believe the Packers aren't willing to pay Jordan Love through the nose, despite Trevor Lawrence, who had a worse season getting paid at the height of Joe Burrow. Tell me I'm crazy. If I were the Packers, this is what I would do. I would sit down with Jordan Love. I'd offer him a three year $170 million extension, 80% guaranteed with a fourth year option that vests. However, you want to structure it, whatever he needs to accomplish to get the fourth year option, the vest gives me the safety that I'm out of it before five, six seasons in while also confirming I believe you're the guy and I'm going to pay you $1 million more dollars than Trevor Lawrence. Three years, 170 million guarantee 80% of it. That's the fourth year. However, you want to do it. Do you have to go that high? Yes, I'm paying you $1 million more dollars per year than Trevor Lawrence. Ooh, it's the old favorite nation's clause, making a dollar or, in this case, a million dollars more than Trevor Lawrence. That's, boy, you better be right. You're betting big. It's only three years. You get out of it. Doesn't matter. If you can tell me it's only three years. It's $170 million. You're going to spend it anyway. The NFL, you got to spend at the cap. You wouldn't do that, huh? I would try and get him for a smaller number. I'm not saying a lot smaller, but if I could get him, if I'm only doing three years, well, that's going to come around awfully quick. I would, if I truly believe in him, I'd probably go see if I could get him for 200. You can offer it. You wouldn't accept it, though, because all of this is about potential. Every bit of this is about potential. We know how ridiculous these numbers are for these quarterbacks cap. We're talking about guys that have not even stripped this, scratched the surface of being able to get to the Super Bowl, but they're getting paid handsomely anyway. You don't think he'd take four for 200? I'm not. I don't know. Two. I just, I just... Two hundred million dollars with one, fifteen, one, twenty, and guarantees. You know the growing rate of 30, whatever the number is? You know the growing rate for quarterbacks. I'm just saying, like, it is stupid money that's out there. Oh, it's insanity. So, but I mean, you can ask, I'm not sure if you would accept. I think also the story about this is him and a hold-in, if this was a Chicago bear, you'd be hitting the roof. Yeah, I would. And it has sound ready. They just announced this morning, not even going to show it camp for the jet. I just think if I'm a Packer fan, it's not saying that they won't resolve and come up with something, but I'm saying, like, this is an important season for not just the Packers, but also love. You want to make sure that you have exactly the genuine article. You saw it last year. Can he be better the next year? In year two as a full-time starter? And now you got this hold-up with the contract? Would the sit-in? He's at the facility, right? But he's just not going to fall. He's in all the meetings. He's just not going to get out of the field and take a chance at getting hurt. Okay. That's nuts. I bet it gets done today or tomorrow. That's probably true. I will also bet he's going to be the highest paid quarterback in the NFL. That's how that works. It'll be number one on an average annual value basis. Yeah. Who is the highest right now? Joe Barrow and Trevor Lawrence, both at 55. I would bet anything that Jordan Love comes out of this making 56 million a year. And think about this. Don't let me be like that. That's what it is. You can see what he's looking at. He's looking at me like you're crazy. Of course he is. Because he still doesn't understand the quarterback market. No, I do. You're giving him 50 million, 56 million for Jordan Love. Well, you better be right. If you're willing to give 50, what's 56 really in a hard cap world. It's a lot. And to says, I'd like to have a word he'll be next to they're saying that they're not going to extend. They're not. He's he's. He's toast. He said we're not talking to you. He's he'll. But his people are going to ask. They already did. They said we want Jared Goff money and the dolphin said yeah, F off shot. How much do golf get 52 53? That sound right for Jared Goff? Yeah. It's with a price to do it. Okay. See, so what's wrong with it? Imagine this were the bears and you just had a quarterback go out throw for 4,200 yards basically. 32 touchdowns, only 11 interceptions from week 11 on led the league and touchdown to interception ratio. He's going for one year. Goes on the road, bombs the Cowboys. Yep. And has one season left under contract and is negotiating with the team. And there's a sticking point for money as fans. All of us would go just paying for the love of Christ pay him. J more. Where's my home? He has the 40s, right? He's something right. He's underpaid. Vastly underpaid. Yeah, I would probably offer it somewhere around the 40s. I mean, I wouldn't put him at the 50s. I'm sorry. The market acts for it. But Jay Moore, the problem with using my homes is my homes is going to have more money very shortly. They're going to restructure his deal to make it fair. That's been reported. Yeah, but it's about the now. I will say like the best quarterback in the league is making this. And this is what I'm offering. But when Trevor Lawrence gets 55, it doesn't matter. I'm better than Trevor Lawrence if I'm Jordan Love painting. That's fair. Which? Right. That's fair. I get this in the prism of football and sports because that's what we do. But think about if it's business. You won't let somebody make more money than you or do you know that you're better than that guy? Now again, if you're Jordan Love, it's about potential. Jordan Love, don't you think Jordan Love is a better quarterback than Trevor Lawrence? Yeah. Okay. All right. We'll see. I got to see it for more than a year. But I mean, at least what he showed in the second half of last season, he looked better. I mean, Lamar's at 52, Hertz is at 51, Herbert's at 52, 5, Goughs at 53, and Burrow and Lawrence. I cannot make him the highest paid quarterback. I just can't do it. We'll be though. The only two guys on that list that matter are Gough and Lawrence because they're the two that signed this off season. That's it. Like whatever Hertz and Lamar signed for was an off season ago. They don't matter anymore. The price of milk has gone up. But again, like when I watched the commentary from Jalen Brunson in a different sport, he said I studied Brady and I studied Jeter and there was a third big time athlete. He said those guys took less because they wanted to be able to add more talent because they are about winning. Great. Let's be clear. Jalen Brunson got tricked. And Brunson's a dope. Price win. Brunson got tricked. Yes it is. I disagree with you that he got tricked because he would not have gotten any of that money this off season. He had to wait a year and he went, I'll take 156 guaranteed right now. We can keep our team together and I will get my money down the road. I don't not think he got tricked. You not negotiate with terrorists. Can't do it. He's worth one of the worst owners in sports. You want to do it with under that ownership? No. Jalen Brunson went and took the cheese from a historically cheap awful owner. That's what he did. He got tricked. He got doped. Because he would have not got any more money this off season. Yeah but next on season he would have got 250 million more basically. No one 13 more. Like you're leaving that amount of money on the table. Yeah because he's going to get a bigger extension by not taking it. How? Two years from now. He got 156 guaranteed dollars that he wouldn't have gotten. And he left 113 million that he would have. He would have gotten in a year if he played again at the level he's at and stayed healthy. To get bounced in the second round. Baby? No, maybe. Bouncing the second round. There's nothing against Tom. It's just in this at ownership cap. You don't win as a try hard team. You win with talent. Ask the Celtics. They've added a lot. They're good. The Knicks have a pretty good team now. Are they on the Celtics level? The answer's no. Because that's the bully on the block. Then you might be right. And that, my friends, is a look around the NFL right here on Captain Jay Hood. Team USA is proving they aren't even close to the dream team. We explain that coming up next on the Captain Jay Hood Morning Show. Here's to Dave's headline, headline with Captain Jay Hood. Cubs open their set with the Brewers beating Milwaukee 3-1 at Riggly-Havier's side. Struggled mightily, six walks, a lot of traffic on the bases, did not surrender or run. The bullpen had to cover five and two-thirds innings of one run baseball for the win. Game two of the series tonight. James Sitayon on the Hill first pitch at 7-0-5. White Sox could not seal the deal last night. Despite a 3-2 lead, one strike away in the night. John Brevia blew the save. They were walked off by the Rangers and Steven Wilson giving up a hit to Wyatt. Langford, with the bases loaded in the bottom of the tenth, they've lost eight straight to Sox. They're 27-75 on the season. Through 102 games, the record setting, 1960 New York Mets were just one game worse at 26. And 76. White Sox also halted you on Montecada's rehab with anticipated soreness, despite him being medically cleared to playing, going eight for 15. And his five rehab appearances. Team USA, a narrow win with LeBron getting the final 11 points to beat Germany in a final Olympic tune-up game 92, 88 Emmanuel Ogba and Janik in Gakwe were both visiting Miami. Ogba has signed with the Dolphins, so that leaves in Gakwe still on the market. And your 8 AMR brought to you by the village of Bowling Rock, home to the 2024 Live Golf individual championships. It's a Captain J. Good morning show on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. Glad to have you in with us here on this Tuesday morning. Cap Side Bar may I approach? Brought to you by Anken Law, 3-1-2-6 million for our guy, the great Howard Anken. That's how my ball. So Tom Brennan is back. Super cool. He will be doing college football on the CW. Well, that after four years away, he finally has, after doing something completely disgraceful, which we all know, uttering that gay slur in a live broadcast with the Reds and the Royals. He served his time because it blew up at warp speed, that whole thing that he said. And now he served his time away from broadcasting, doing play-by-play, and now he is back. Yep. And I'm a friend of Tom's, I'm a fan of Tom's, and good deal, I'm glad he is getting an opportunity. He's outstanding at what he does. I think you and I have talked about it, it's like okay, a huge mistake. And he, again, spending a lot of time away and talked about it. And now he's back with a big opportunity, it's a fresh face for the CW who are really into the sports space now. Yep. I mean, a little, first of all, it was Live Golf, and now they're going to be doing some college football as well because it's a scramble now for these teams and these leagues to find out where they can have their platform and now college football in the CW. Yep. Super cool. So congrats to Tom Brenneman back at it again. By the way, the, the, um, Jalen Brunson deal that we were talking about, Adrian Wojnarowski wrote, it will only cost Brunson $37.1 million over the next three years, a little over 12 million a year because he said it would set Brunson up to recoup the rest of the 113 million. If he gets a new extension in 2028, it would be four years, 323 or if he waits till 29 when he's a 10 year vested vet, five years, 418 million to make 81 million a year. So he'd make back basically everything but 37. So and he said, I studied my homes, Brady, Jeter, they all took less because they want to win. And that's what I'm doing here. The facts, but the point is, is that he's doing it with that team and that franchise. Sorry. You're just, you're always going to be second, no matter how much he's making, no much money that he's deferring, it's still not going to be good enough with that franchise. It's not. They, they are, we talk about the Cubs or the white Sox or some of the teams here that don't have the commitment to winning the same thing with the Knicks. This is not a shot of Tom Thibbe though. I'm talking about that ownership and the way they do business there. Absolutely not. It's any average New York fan what they think of the Knicks over the years. They could talk about how it's better, but they're still with the human cry about how great things were in 1971, 71, they're still talking about, sorry, the Celtics are far and above the best team in the league. And I think that Tom is onto something, but they will always be the bridesmaid. They just will just based on how the things are run there. Well, they've added a lot in the off season, took on the Michael Bridge's deal. They re-sign OGN and no B for 200 and some million. And Brunson's agent is now the president of the Knicks. So they have what he called a partnership on how they're going to do this thing. So we'll see. I hope he's, I hope they win a title. If Chicago can't, I'm rooting for the next. So you're rooting for the next? If if Chicago can't. If. Well, I mean, we're a long way away. What he did. So ultimately, Shay, we have locked it now on my partner, Nick fan, because you won't get that bowl's championship anytime soon. Also, how is it not a conflict that Brunson's agent is the president of the team? Well, he's not his agent anymore. He's not Lee Ann Rose was the head of CAA. He took the Knicks. Yeah. So, okay. So his former agent is the president of the team and tells him to take a low ball offer and we're all surprised. No, they talked about the partnership and he's going to get a four hundred eighteen million put he got to because you're all about the money. He's about winning. He talked to Mahomes Brady Jeter. Why did you guys take less? They talked about it. He said, I'm in. I want to win. You're about the last dollar. He's not. He's about winning. Jeter was on a team that would spend through the nose for much better players than him and Brunson respectfully shouldn't compare himself to Mahomes and Tom Brady. Okay. I would have taken the money. That's again. You're about the money. He's about chasing a championship. He talked to three guys who gave him advice who all made a ton of money. There was no salary cap. Jeter could have gotten more management said, we can't afford to go do this, this and this. He said, I'll take less. Show me a guy that says it's not about the money and I'll show you a guy that's filled with BS. He's leaving a lot on the table. I mean, you understand the point though, the idea that you're in sports, you bust in your ass, you lift all those weights, you run all those miles and it's actually probably more miles than anybody else in the NBA because you're working with Tom Thibodeau and don't think it's about the money. Buddy, I'm a radio producer. He's telling me I'm about the money. I'm a 29 year old radio producer. He says I'm about the money. Buddy, I wish. I just judge you on what you say. How about that, Andrew and Aurora? Hey guys, I was just calling about the money. Jordan loves holding out this season just because he's going to ask for that four five year contract. Yeah. Simply because the NFL seller catch them blooming, but it's not going to be blooming going forward for a couple of years, possibly because the Sunday ticket lost you. I'm going to go off the air and you get can respond, but I don't see Jordan love coming down on this just price. How much do you think he's worth, Andrew? How much do I think he's worth? I mean, in a perfect world, upon the Packers, I would want to do a three year deal because he proved one year and we've seen quarterbacks do one year and then struggle before. But it's it's it's what he's worth what people are willing to pay. And if he leaves the Packers, someone's willing to pay him 50 million a year, 55 million a year. Mm hmm. So, you know, that that's the reality of the situation the Packers have to look at. He's worth what another team's willing to pay him and somebody will pay him 55 million a year because look at how hard it is to find a quarterback. I think that that's what I think that's a great point that you make, Andrew, because Kablus and you and I go way back looking at salary structures and how things are able to develop. But the way the NFL has blown up so much and how much money that's out there based on the TV deals and everything else that the NFL has, I mean, the numbers are just out rages. There was that we've known average quarterbacks for a long time, but even the average quarterbacks are getting paid for potential in the 50 40s and 50 million mark. That's insane. But it's unreal. But that's where we are though. That's where we are. So how much is that going to get 60 plus? Oh, God. Unbelievable. It depends on the signs. Yeah. Here we go. Signs after love, he'll get whatever more than love. He will get more than Trevor Lawrence. So if love signs for say the 57 a year, then Dak signs for 58, 60 Wow. Or Jerry tells Dak kindly leave and where are they getting a quarterback? You do remember a time in this country in sports where you get paid on the actual work that you elevate a franchise by your work. You do call this, right? There was a time in this country was like, you know what he got? This particular player get better incrementally. You have to hear his contract is up. Now he gets the balloon payment. This is after a year. We're talking about this with Jordan Love. That's my point. I'm sure Goudacunz is going, we're going to pay him. We're just not going to $56 million. You'd be more apt to pay Dak Prescott, like J. Moore said than Jordan Love. Well, you have much more of a body of work with Dak. Despite the underachievement, the numbers are there. His numbers are insane. You want to get to the you want to get to the school role. You know what I'm talking about. Correct. But his season achievement is great. But what about the postseason? I disagree with you, but I'm just wow. It just it doesn't matter. Daniel Jones got paid what he got paid. What was it? 38 million, whatever it was 40 million a year. She got paid what he got paid. The Martin Price of Milk went up for everybody else. That was a shocker. Now Trevor Lawrence gets 55 million. He's tied for the highest paid player in all of football despite the fact that he hasn't lived up to his billing, not even remotely close really. He's been underwhelming as a pro. He gets to be the highest paid player in football. Yeah, if I'm Jordan Love, I want more. If I'm Dak Prescott, I want more. He's only done it for a year. And then cap, you brought it. Where did you get in the quarterback? That's the thing because if you don't pay Jordan Love and you cause a problem and you fracture the relationship, well, then you better hope that you're going to come to the table. That's even good. I'm cool with him. Not practice. We'll get this done. The Cowboys back through completed 69.5% of his passes through for 4,516 yards, 36 to 9 TD interception, passer rating of 105.9. Those are freaking sensational numbers. He's going to get 60 million a year. And where was he? And I get that. And where was he in the postseason? They lost. Okay. But again, he's not playing these teams by himself. I understand that cap. I mean, you're paying for 18 weeks of work ultimately, I mean, the balls in his hands the last year of the time, it's on him. It's on him because he's the offensive maestro. Yeah, it's not by himself that is correct. But you saw the you saw that game at playoff game, right? That's incredible. And he's still going to be getting more and more and more. You would think that a veteran of that ilk back in the day, he'd begin paid less. He might move on to a different team, but he would be getting, you know, crazy money. That wouldn't work. This is why Kirk Cousins is so interesting to me. How many times he continues to get cash in for just pretty good work, right? Not great. Just pretty good work. Pretty good. That's why it's interesting to me. It was him and Matthew Stafford that started all this. They kept reset in the market to be mediocre, basically. And now we see guys like Daniel Jones making 40 million. We're going to see Jordan Love probably be the highest pay player in the sport. Dak will then reset it. And then by next year, two years from now, all these guys will be on discounts because the next quarterbacks will be up. See, this is why I'm a bottom line fan, Jay Moore, when it comes to just wins and losses because the money will drive you crazy because I don't want to be the guy on the open mic saying this guy's getting paid. It's what blah, blah, blah, and we get blah, blah, blah. I've heard I produced that. I've heard that all my life as a talk show host and as a fan. I don't want to be that guy. That's why I just try to separate myself and you don't hear me talking about salaries very often, Cap. That's your department because I'm just focused on did you win or did you lose? Because if you get the money into all of it, you just sour on the player. Like I get if Dak gets 60 million or 62 million or whatever it is, Jordan Love, you know, I told you last. Sorry. It's pretty good kid. But he's done it for one season. Yeah. That's another here. Scratcher. Oh, I'm sorry. I mean, I know it's potential based, but it's like you only show me half a season, man. But it's the Abdullah question that he always asked. If not, Jordan Love, whoever your your frontline guy is who, right? But my question is, if he says, you know what, I'm just going to play it out then on the deal that I'm on, he's making whatever $10 million this year, then you get hurt and then and then you get hurt. You're like, Oh God, he blew his ACL. Now he's right. So his family is going to go, okay, we got to get something done here. So if the Packers come and say, here's 48 million, 50 million, but we're not going to get that number. Does he leave it on the table? I don't think so. I would take it. He's 25 years old. He's going to take it. Yeah, man. I'm sorry. I derailed us because we're going to say some of our team USA and how they're winning games, but it's not as easy as you think, kid, South Sudan's got a hell of a team, man. Captain Jay Hood weekday morning, seven to 10. Watch out, fellas on Chicago's home for sports, ESPN, Chicago. Look, I know that these are just friendlies, cap, because they're not in Paris just as of yet with the Olympics and the NBA, you know, team USA team and the NBA players on it. I mean, we got some close calls here against Germany team USA was able to win 92 88, but here's the thing that's interesting about this whole thing that LeBron James, the old man has to save a bunch of other all stars on this team USA team at 20.6 rebounds for assist. Someone his age should be on the bench rooting on Joellen beat and Steph Curry and Kevin Durant. He shouldn't be out there, but he's the one saving them close wins against South Sudan. I'm not rooting against team USA, I'm just rooting against people that believe that this team is the best, you know, team USA we've seen in the men's basketball in the Olympics. It is not as a talent there and LeBron is great with a capital G. Great, but the idea that this group is on the same level as the 92 team is nonsense. Yeah, take that Taylor and Hyde Park up. I mean, remember Barkley's famous quote, Michael could beat some of these countries by himself. Yeah. And Golo 92. Yeah, of course. Yeah. I mean, come on, the team in the early 90s 92 would beat this team like dogs. But LeBron tip your cap, man, guys, 40 years old, still the best player on the floor. Crazy. And then he's going to be the one who's going to have lead the US contingent out for the opening ceremonies, only the third basketball player all time. The other two were Sue Bird. And who was the third and Don Staley and Don Staley, yeah. So Don Staley, Sue Bird and LeBron James, they're the only basketball players to ever lead the US Olympic contingent out for the opening ceremony. And I think it's super cool shade. This should be Jason Tatum's like Olympics or Anthony Edwards. That's those are next stars of the league. And the idea that LeBron James has to pull their ass out of the fire as if he, it must feel like he's with the Lakers again. He's the one has to save them. So you know, I know a couple of weeks ago, we had some calls that believe that this team, Steph Curry drew holiday, Devin Booker, LeBron James, Joellen beat, Bam, Anthony Davis, Anthony Edwards, Jason Tatum, Derek White, Kevin Durant, and Tyree's Hello, Burton are better than the 92 team. Not even close again, plenty of talent. But even in these friendlies cab, Lew Alding, South Sudan team pretty close. Yeah, and that South Sudan team. They had a shot at the end to win it and a couple shots. Germany had opened threes yesterday and couldn't knock them down open. I'm talking well, they're on that team. The Wagner's are on that team. Daniel Tice, they got talent with the yes, they're all that team, Daniel Tice, right? So where is he now? He was on Boston, went to Chicago, went back to Boston. Now where is he? He's a solid solid hard nose guy, not a great player. In two minutes to the Cubs need to consider moving on from jet Hoyer, we'll hear from Jeddin' two minutes on Captain J. Hood. Any sex news?
