Thank God it's Friday. Chicago! This is your morning routine. Listen to respect my name. Cap and G hood. That's right. That's right. We're bad. Watch the show on Twitch. Follow ESPN 1000 Chicago. Stream the show on the ESPN Chicago app. And on Instagram. 100.3 HD2. And on ESPN 1000 Chicago. No, no, no, no. David Kaplan and Jonathan Hood. Good morning, everyone! Bring 'em out. Bring 'em out. Whoo! Bring 'em out. Bring 'em out. Bring 'em out. Bring 'em out. Bring 'em out. Bring 'em out. Bring 'em out. Bring 'em out. Out! Welcome in to the Cap and G good morning show. On ESPN 1000 and we are streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. What's the fact in Carmen de Falco? In for Cap, I'm Jay Hood. We've got Jay. We've got Jay Moore. We've got you for a three hour ride. On this Friday morning with open phone lines for you. 3-1-2, 3-3-2 ESPN, 3-3-2-3-7-7-7. Six is our telephone number. Carm, good to see you, my friend. It's good to see you, buddy. I'm glad we're here. The computers work. Yeah. The mics work. It was such a simple meeting, too, between Carmen and I. We just told Shay June 2007. That's the show we're doing. We're good. Like the show we did before. That was a simple meeting. All right, you ready? June 2007, second week. Can we run it back? That's the show that we're doing. That's the show. That's pretty much simple as that. It's good to be here, my man. Love doing shows with you. Thank you for accommodating the schedule. No, absolutely. Well, what am I going to do? What am I, boy? Cut? Mr. Falco, the son of a bitch. I don't want him in here. I mean, what do you want me to do? I texted Black and Black did like three days of the arty this week and he was supposed to do today and I go, listen, I don't want to burn a day off. I got to be in Sandwich, Illinois at 2.30. I was like, flip with me. I said, come on, let me work with hoodie in the morning. He's like, yeah, no problem. He's like, huh, thank God. I want to burn a day off to go to Sandwich. I Sandwich is lovely, but you know, they run a nice baseball tournament, but I want to burn a day. Yes, I understand. Right, hoodie? Ipswich, I guess, was not available, right? So you go to Sandwich instead. Exactly. That's right. Understood. Well, you know, here's something that's very odd, Carm. I mean, so I was not aware of this overnight and I don't think you were as well. Nope. The global computer outage affecting airports, banks, and other businesses. By the way, have you checked the banks? I know you don't have direct deposit. I know you still go for the teller. So, I mean-- That's a good question. I did not look at my bank account. You probably should, pal. Probably should. So because of this global computer outage that's affecting airports, banks, and other businesses on Friday, appears to stem from at least partly from a software update issued by major US cybersecurity firm CrowdStrike. Now, the CEO of this particular Microsoft Windows, George Kurtz, says that a defect was found in a single content update of its software on Microsoft Windows operating systems. In further news, George Kurtz will be fired. George Kurtz will no longer be the CEO of CrowdStrike. They said it's not cyber. It's not a cyber attack. It's not terrorism. It's not anything like that. I'm like, OK, I did just check my bank account. Everything looks OK. I wish there was more money in it, but everything looks OK. OK. So I guess that's good. But I didn't know about it either. I got up this morning, and I got up about 10 to 5, and then like 15 minutes later, ping, and I look down, and it's Shay. And I see it's a text, you know, it's the three of us on the text chain. And I'm like, OK, Shay's already sending some stories and some things, and all of a sudden I look more closely. And it's, you know, Shay said something like, what are the odds that our computers work? And I'm like, oh, what happened? I start looking on X, and I see him looking at the Tweety sends, and some guys talking about this is the real Y2K. I'm like, come on, what did I miss overnight? And I think that guy was being a little alarmist, by the way, Shay. I don't think it's Y2K, but-- Yeah, it doesn't feel like Y2K at all. But it is-- like, I woke up, and the first thing I saw is Delta and American and United all. Full ground stops globally. Couldn't get planes in the air. And I'm like, how crazy is it Microsoft puts out a bad update, and planes can't take off? It is scary, isn't it? So here's what's so great about that is. Those airlines are airlines I do not take. They make sure-- I make sure I go to the airline. It's friendly to the wide shoulders southwest. I would be peacocking my weight right through the airport. Oh, you guys are stranded? Here I go. Ah, southwest. West Palm, saw on the body. It's what I'm talking about. [INTERPOSING VOICES] Where do you guys-- you're waiting on what? Where are you going? Southwest had no problem. It never has any problem. Are you kidding me? You picked the right one, it looks like. It's the airline with stretch marks, it's the best. Are you kidding me, Carm? It's the very best. I tell this story all the time about when you go to Southwest, it's so friendly because if you like to have a wheelchair, you can have one. Doesn't matter if you're upright. If you will, they'll just wheel you right in. They'll just wheel you around? Yeah. And so when I go, obviously, I go to a desk. I said, hey, I'm just checking in. Would you like an extra seat, sir? Really? Yeah, yeah, no problem. And then you've got war heroes and everybody else. And it's like, would you like to board first? Yeah, no problem. Thanks for your service, so long. So long, sucker. So it's the very best. But he's given us thank you for your service on the way in. As I go in first, on the pre-board. I saw some of the pictures from airports around the country, especially on the East Coast. Yeah. That'd be the worst thing. You get to the airport, you're waiting, ground stop, some sort of IT problem. Yes, Shay, the answer is yes, it is scary. That there can be a bad update and planes can take off and trains can operate properly. Like the subway, I guess this morning in New York, was pretty messed up. I think everything's good here so far. I took the train down this morning. I took the metro, no problem. So one thing I have heard, apparently our transit here is fine. But one thing I've heard is that there are certain places where gas stations, their ability to accept credit card payment is down. So if you don't have cash, which nobody does in 2024, you can't get gas. You're screwed. You have to start siphoning the gas hoodie. I'll be stealing gas before you know it. Like the walking death, right? Yeah, I can. Yeah, start siphoning the gas. That's it, they can't pay a card. That's how I got through 2020. I got to do it again. Got to do it again. Oh, my-- This is why I'm a Mac user. See, this didn't affect Mac, I don't think, right? Well, I like Mac. Forget Microsoft. Well, it didn't affect anybody at home. It was like any business that uses security stuff. I think it's very odd that you use Dan McNeil for your computer service. I talked to Danny Mac last week. If you want to be able to have good computer service, Chicago, go with the Mac. Who do you turn to for the best computer and IT service? Danny Mac, of course. Danny Mac, exactly where you go. Everybody knows that. The idea, by the way, that it is just a update that went wrong. That's how fleeting it is. Think about it. I mean, just a little error like that. Did you watch the Netflix movie they released in the spring with Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke. What was it called? Leave the world behind? Did you watch that? It's scary, if you just disrupt our power grid. We crumble. Yeah. So yeah, when you say one little update that goes wrong you can ground things and disrupt transportation and services that we take for granted and you mess with IT and infrastructure and the power grid, it's like we'd be lost. We can't go back. We can't go back 100 years, 150 years at this point. We can't do it, hoodie. We can go back at least 40, though, you and I, because we could survive on it. Like, look, cash, right? Yeah, I could survive. OK, what did our old man tell us, right? Just to have a little stash. That's true. On the south side of town, you put it in a crown royal bag. You bury it, you know? Right. It's a cash, right? That has some cash. That has some-- just in case. I've got some hidden in the backyard. Yeah. No joke. I got a little cash. Just-- you don't know. I did. Now, I don't want people going and digging up my backyard. It's not that much. It's not worth your effort. But there's like a little scratch laying around just in case. I've got it. I've got all those things prepared for years. I had still the old box TV just in case, right? Right. Justin-- I think we talked about this one at a time. Yeah. But the old box TV-- well, everyone else has the modern TV. I had the box just in case. Keep the rabbit ears just in the box. Just in case. Just in case the world comes to an end and you've got to find out. Make sure everything's good. Guess who's going to make it with those rabbit ears. But he is. All right? So you call us crazy. But you know, you've got to think about it every once in a while. We could go back about 40 years. We could. I think we-- and think we could survive. We could watch old Newhart re-run. That's exactly right. Dr. Hartley. Rest in peace. Rest in peace, Dr. Hartley. Be able to do that. We could. Two shades that we would actually pick up books and read. Well, true too. I still do that. I love to read a book. I know it's a reader. I'm a reader. Yeah. I still do like to do that. I don't like-- and I don't read it on-- I don't like reading on a tablet. Oh, I like-- I like still actually reading books. I don't-- you know, I do not download books or anything like that. I don't have a Kindle. I want to hold the book in my hand. That's a little old story. I like to-- I like a nice stem winder. A nice book to be able to flip through. And I would say that you could use your Microsoft Surface for it, but I don't think that's working today. It's not. Looks like. No shot. Chase says it's only for big business. Yes. Well, when was the last time, like, you walked into a bank to withdraw cash? Because if ATMs are down, that's where things get tricky. You have to walk into a bank and take out cash. To take out a withdrawal-- I don't-- I can't even-- at 15 years? Yeah. Right? At least a dozen years. Yeah. Probably more than that. Yeah. To actually go into the teller. No. I mean, maybe you cash a check every once in a while. Yeah. But not like to actually go into a teller and write out and fill out the slip and be like, I need to withdraw this from my checking account or my savings account. And then you do it all digitally now. You do it all digitally now. The bank's computers in the building work so they can pull your account up and get the money out. That's why it's scary. Well, Jay Moore, there's always a go around with that. I mean, for now, Jay Moore, for what his side work, he still just catches his stuff at the currency exchange. Right? He's still just walking in and just-- Jay Moore, is that true? Jay Moore, no. It's not true. He goes right into the currency exchange and is able to catch his stuff. I could. I could. I could definitely do that. But the problem is for Jay Moore, though, when he catches his stuff, he's ashamed to say it, but I'll say it for him. The idea that the currency exchange will take about 10% off the top. I mean, that's the licorice. That's the problem. Yeah. That's the fee, right? Yeah. Did you see it's expensive? Yeah. In India, this person posted a photo on Twitter. Their boarding pass was hand-written. Their name is in-- Oh, no. Information is written on the boarding pass in pen, because yeah, they couldn't get on the computer to print out a boarding pass. That. I mean, you talk about old-- There's another thing. There's another thing. It's a hand-written-- you're not getting your bags. What was the last time you even had a boarding pass, like a printed boarding pass? You know, like-- I still get those. Do you really have-- Out of the computer? I spit out the computer? Yeah. You still get that? Yeah, I get those. I can't remember the last time I had a held paper boarding pass in my hands, because you just put it on your phone. Well, listen, working with the UIC Flames, and I'm traveling with the players, they need to have something in their hands, because they had lost in their phone. Really? It's mixed up in an Instagram model, booty model or something. I would think it'd be even harder for them to understand the concept of the genre. How to a girl? They're like, you know what, here, just take this paper and just hand it to the person. Because it's simple that way. I love the hawk to a girl. I like to make an apology before we start talking about the bears and the Matty were flutes. I like to apologize. All right. I like to apologize to good karma brands. If I could this morning, because the first missive that we received from Shay talking about the creators are down, I assume it was this place. I mean, I, I, I assumed immediately, I did see hoodies response. Yeah. Well, I was pissed off. As I said that I shouldn't set a text, a pissed off, but I was because I assumed it was this place. I walked in at all our computers run, and I said, this is the only time that we're lucky. We never turn our computers off. Right. Thank God. That would have been the time history. So I apologize to the seventh floor and whoever, wherever our guy is in Round Rock, Texas or wherever he is, stationed, because I honestly thought I was not, we're going to work without computers today. Like like no sound and it's like, you're doing radio free. Well, I'm just saying. Seriously. Well, when I read Shays, you know, when I saw the tweet and then I read what he wrote, I did think about it. I'm like, oh boy, we're going to get in and there are no computers. No computers. Commercial, free hours. I didn't know. You saw Nuno last hour when they had a sportsman like on ESPN because they couldn't get Sports Center on the air. Nuno, poor guy's producing on sportsman like he's got nothing but blue screen of death in front of him on the computers. Crazy. He's writing down the questions for Freddie and Courtney. Yeah. Right. I mean, it was something. Yeah, they couldn't get Sports Center on now. They've got get up on. They just finally figured that out. They finally figured it out. Yeah. Our buddy Jordan Sherwood said the Starbucks he stopped in this morning, their computers were down. So did he pay with cash? Did he pull it out of his sock? That's a good question. Did you pull money out of your sock? Remember that poor kid? Yeah. He'd drive your bike to the 7/11 of the white hat. Yeah. Right. The nice and sweaty. Yeah. Take. I started taking all my dollar bills out. I love that. That's where the old man left his money in a sock. Did you pull money from your sock? Yeah. Question mark. See how that comes back. He's listening in anyways. Which way did he go on the sock arm? So that's what I'd like to know. You'll like it hot? Yeah. Sorry. There's some hot money out of my sock. Has the outage affected you this morning? We want to find out from you. If we can help, Carmen and I are here as a help desk to you. That's right. Yes. You can call us. And if the outage is effective you, we'll try to figure it out for you. Yeah. We'll try to help you. We'll work through it with you. Yeah. So when do they say like it's all going to be rectified? So they said that they got to fix out and it's been what deployed I think was the word that they used. I think we're basically at the end of this. All right. American Airlines is back. Good. They're flying again. But apparently if the Starbucks is not working, there's lingering issues. My credit card worked fine at Dunkin Donuts about an hour ago. So her 45 minutes ago. So Duncan uses Mac. I guess that's confirmed. Yes. They use Mac. He's Danny Mac. Yeah. How do you feel? Danny Mac can't get viruses. That's what I've learned this morning. Right. You know that. He doesn't want to talk about that again. That was as down for 3 1 2 3 3 2 ESB had 3 3 2 3 7 7 6 too much politics. Chicago. What? Let park park. Talk to me into that. All right. Coming up. We talk about we continue to talk about the outage has it affect you also still to come some thoughts about Maddie Replus the head coach for the Bears. I'm a carman to Falco Jhood with you cap and Jhood weekday morning 7 to 10. This is cap and Jhood they beat in the traffic commute. So you don't have to. It's the cap and Jhood morning show on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. So glad you're with us. We hope that you're going to have a great Friday and a great weekend here Chicago as we got so much to get to before we're done at 10 o'clock shadow no shot by the way comes the way eight o'clock. I've got five burning questions for Carm in our next half hour as well regarding the bears. I do want to talk to you about Maddie Replus. I know we'll talk a lot about about him and the season as we progress. But I just thought today Carm I want to talk to you about he refluse because the one thing that can't leave my mind despite all the changes happening with the bears to good changes by the way. I don't think that we've seen an off season quite like this for the bears all the off seasons that we've gone through. Hey, there's a draft pick they can rely on our here's one free agent pick up or maybe two. They have done so much this off season sweeping changes to try to increase their chances to get to the playoffs. But when Maddie Replus the one thing that can't leave me is some of the mistakes that he made as a neo fight head coach and year one and seven year two the time outs you and your group talked about that as well just a little things little things a little decisions can hold you back from a victory or from where you want to be. And my question is do you think that he refluse with the amount of veterans and new players on the team that he's smart and up or to the point where he can get out of the way and be able to say, okay, I've got I've got two years under my belt. I'm going to be a better coach this year. That's the question. Yeah, I think it's a fair question like we were reading the results from that athletic poll yesterday that they had the fans submitted they could vote on and like one of the questions of dollar was going through them with us and one of the questions was about your level of trust or faith or confidence out of one you know one through five out of eberflucin like I'm a three that's what I had said and that's where I think the masses landed and I'm like even just almost barely out of three. So how convinced am I I don't know I think it's a fair question. On the positive side or the most positive thing I guess I could say about eberflucin is the job he did last year to stabilize things when it looked like it when it looked like that that boat was going to capsize right and sink to the bottom that start was horrific and they weren't prepared to play they weren't ready to play they're firing offense defensive coordinators excuse me that's on him that's on the head coach that's his guy yeah he vouched he brought him here and okay you could say well his his his horrible deeds and the things he did to get himself fired weren't the things done by Matt eberflucin but he brought him here that was his guy and everything was I mean it was like a dumpster fire in those first four weeks and somehow he was able to stabilize things and I I guess that shouldn't go totally unnoticed like you're keeps pointing out that he found a way to keep those guys playing for him and believing in the message and so I suppose there's something to that he gets a few he could have a few positive checks for that but I still have a lot of questions yeah I do hoodie I mean I I'm not totally convinced but I guess we'll see we'll see how the season goes we'll see how games are managed hey that's an important thing like you said and if you give up some of those play calling details and duties again and you are like solely responsible for understanding the flow of the game and being sure that you're on top of every last detail like let's see how you handle that now in a season when in which there are you know higher expectations than he's ever had going into a season he's like the favorite for coach of the year I mean think about that I saw that very high expectations and he hasn't had that yet so I at the OCA's eberflucs was strong hey I appreciate you being here you know I know you guys don't have to be this is voluntary and I understand that and everybody here appreciates you doing this okay because this is a big time for us as you guys can see made some big moves right this team is a different football team and the time is now for us at the end of this guys in February there's going to be one of 32 teams one that had a winning season just one and we have everything in this room everything I'm telling you right now to get that done but it comes down to what preparation I mean that's pretty good for like a good early summer meet a speech it's pretty good I'm sure it's more fiery once you get to lake forest and into the season but you know when we hear from lake forest that the players play hard for mati were flus and they respect mati were flus okay it's one thing to say that you play hard but there was a time where the results were not there it's one thing to say I like the head coach he holds me accountable but if you if your job does is not on the line then it's like well I'm playing for the paycheck and I'm we're trying to get results happening but it's not but it's not working you can like the coach but if you're not winning what does that matter because it's about respect but it's also about winning if you like him that much you will do everything you can you go through a wall to make sure that you win a game or at least win your battle ultimately it comes down to that like how much are you going to win how much you're going to lose that's what's going to dictate the fate of all these guys but you know you look around this league and you do see certain situations where coaches voices are completely tuned out sometimes it's because a coach maybe has been there a little bit too long and the message starts to get lost sometimes it's because they just can't command a room they can't command a team they're sending the wrong message look at Josh McDaniel's yeah in two places within a year and a half Josh McDaniel's has crashed and burned not just because of the losses hoodie but because his players couldn't stand him that nobody's buying into the message nobody's believing him there and he's not the only one there are there are plenty of examples we could go through and find it does seem to be different with either fluice now yeah eventually you've got to win I agree with that and like that's still to be determined and he's going to be in a situation like I said now where there are more expectations than ever he's never been in a situation like this as a head coach where you are expected to be a playoff team or certainly close to it and you're expected to be banging on the door of 10 or 11 wins like those are the reasonable I don't think crazy like reasonable expectations for this team for all the things you know that happened during the course of the last couple of off-season to get them to this point so ultimately you got to get to some wins I get that but he does seem to players do seem to believe in his message and ryan paulscher believes in it that's not lip service ryan pauls has said it on numerous times now and he doesn't do a lot of speaking publicly anyway and and every chance he's he's had to he's gone out of his way to praise the leadership ability of the coach so he obviously sees something they believe in his message that's a step in the right direction that's encouraging at some point though you're not wrong it's got a lead to victories yeah and hopefully that will be that way here in year three for eberfluous yes and yes in our lifetime at chicago sports fans there's plenty of coaches or managers that were the leader of the helm and the players just had to believe in them i.e. deril sutter poor deril sutter i mark trustman ii uh dentist of art jet support savvy too i know him commit to the union or you get out of here tried hey commit to the indian you're gonna send him upstairs send him upstairs and get him out of here hoodie and i were on that night we're on it that night we were on remote in rigglyville remember yeah who was it was it god who is producing was it joe fissure yeah yeah was it joe was like he's telling us down the line he's like we got to play black hawks on we're like black hawks on this is 2007 you know and it's like black hawks sound are you what do you mean like savard just went off it there was joe quinville in the stands with his yellow pad and pen yeah writing down the things that's wrong with the with the hockey club think think about trustman those players didn't believe in that message for one second no well it's hard for you to coach when you're in the back of the room in the meeting back against the wall and it i again in the back while everyone's looking forward you can't teach that way it's the way it was that's it we're also providing a help desk for our audience you have to understand that it's people helping people you seek harm because what the outage is happening right now uh and it looks like change you mentioned with crowd strike you said that things are starting to get better but there was a cyber security issue from uh crowd strike and george curbs the ceo of microsoft said that there was a defect found in a single content update of its software so if you were just getting up and you realize hey something's a little miss that's why there was a a issue with a software update yes it was a microsoft update that was the problem microsoft says the underlying problem has been fixed but there have been 911 outages reported across the u.s airport struggles canceled flights transportation glitches that we've talked about that have disrupted things early this morning especially on the east coast so if we can help you carman and i are here to help you as a help desk like kevin and crown point on espan one thousand good morning kevin hey guys we got a travel softball team today no starbucks for the girls i might uh have to hit the strike and ventil for some licorice i need a uh a pointer for carmen with the travel baseball need to get it over the travel softball well my listen i mean without the starbucks how first of all how old are the is this team 13 they're 13 so they're into their starbucks order they pretty much already know it did you have did you really stop at one and you guys could not they're out they're out tried to order out hmm oh boy i mean girls need their frappuccinos in the morning i get it i understand my kids the same thing how about a little old school kevin give a little sinker here it was in the cup what i would suggest is uh mcdonald's on the fly they do have uh they do have espresso drinks and their coffee is excellent they're gonna have to change it up and you're gonna have to convince them that they can get almost the identical thing at mcdonald's these kids are they settle into their routine my kids have their starbucks order and it gets disrupted uh if if they don't get what they want i understand it you're gonna have to go change on the fly you got to adapt this is what a coach does thank you you're welcome kevin yeah good luck to you you can get a you get a i don't know what they call it but it's something close at mcdonald's you get a mccafe that's right yeah you got it right so those new girls were changed on the fly it's mcdonald's time see that's great we're helping people shape people helping people can i put my tinfoil hat on for a moment oh boy two here we go i googled crowd strike going so well i've never heard a crowd strike so i just googled crowd strike and yesterday nine thirty a.m. eastern nazdack.com published an article calling crowd strike a strong buy since the time that's posted bad timing four percent what i would think bad timing crowd strike what could he said george was it george kurtz yeah soon to be former CEO yes i've never heard of this stock yesterday it's strong buy today it's every headline in america not so much because they had the biggest fail imaginable i was trying to think that too when i was reading the story on the train this morning my phone was working i was happy but again i have an apple so uh i was i was like crowd strike crowd strike do i i said it kind of sounds familiar but do i know them what is that who is it they seem to be a pretty big player in it security for a lot of companies yeah you're a meatball you thought that crowd strike was a an app for travel baseball i mean that's what you thought it was yeah i'm like there's some sort of app that's logging rest of the mistakes now that's what you thought it was is there something new to get other than game changer you know and i'm like you're worried about your tournament today yeah i'm like that's out strength that's all of this i am and you're you're that's what you thought about crowd strike that's a new app you can find out you know the outside inside pitches crowd strike that's outstanding your tournament if switch that you're going to go today if switch baby that's where you're going you know what i have for you what do you have i got five burning questions i like it five burning questions where it comes to the bears i love it in town we saw him yesterday like i said we were finishing up crosstalk uh me and york and waddle and sylvie and nick came walking by so i got to see him and then he was kind of you know you guys were texting and he popped in and it's uh i am not going to get to see him uh the rest of the weekend he's here for a bachelor party and i've got uh stuff uh baseball tournament way out in the burbs this week so i'm not going to get to hang with him at all but uh always great to see Nick for sure all right uh we turn the shot on no shot here's shay norley shay all right we're going to yesterday espn's booger mcfarlane weighed in on the top two quarterbacks from last year's draft jayon daniels and calip williams and he was not giving a glowing review of calip listen to this there are a lot of people out of washington telling me that this young man jayon daniels not only does he look the part his teammates know he looked the part and i think calip Williams is going to struggle and i think jayon daniels is going to come out the gate flying and we're going to have this conversation greenie mark it down july the sixteenth whatever it is it's a hundred degrees did the chicago bears make the right pick we're going to have this conversation again shot or no shot jayden daniels will get off to a stronger start than calip williams that's a no shot i just think that calip williams is already made quarter back and again we go back to the weapons if you don't think that calip williams will get off to a cj shroud like start okay but here's the thing there are no excuses because he's got several running backs he can go with he's got three wide receivers he's got two tight ends he's got a remade offensive line it doesn't work automatically carm but the idea that jayden daniels has some leg up on what i think is a ready-made team to win i don't agree with that yeah like base based off of what exactly i guess i'd like to know from booger and like i hear from washington how great he looks his teammates love them well what i'm not sure what else you'd expect to hear at this time of year from uh you know when you're talking about a kid that was the second overall pick uh boogers and l_s_u_ guy and would jayden daniels went to what school l_s_u_ okay thank you yeah so it's maybe jayden daniels is better in five years i really don't know i like we can all pretend like we do nobody was talking up the fact that cj shroud was going to be cj shroud right a year ago this time okay nobody or at least very few people so this idea that nobody yeah so this idea that it's easy to predict or that everybody knows or i i don't know maybe jayden daniels will be better in five years i hope we're not ever having that conversation did the bears do the right thing i think calib's going to be terrific i hope i'm right been wrong plenty of times before i hope i'm right on this one i don't think the bears are going to have regrets i don't think they'll look back i think calib's going to be terrific that's all that matters yeah it's still a dumpster fire in dc shay it's it still is they still like okay with the houston thing let's just go back just for a second car the reason why i see you were right there's nobody that thought cj shroud be there it's not against the kid it's about the organization that was part of it you get easter be running the organization and you know you're firing black coaches left and right to me that's exactly what was they well it was what happened right then they hired another one so at least that was good oh you count them but anyway so no just kidding no but i mean that you're used firing coaches left and right so what i'm saying is this is in a direction that's the point and he's so good and i think demigo ryan's need some credit for this too but they're elevating that franchise cj's that's what you want your quarterback to do that's what you want it to look like he is elevating that franchise and i don't think anybody saw that coming it was a historically good rookie year and and it's a great story i mean it really is so i i don't i don't know how to compare it to jadon annuals i hope it looks right looks good here that's where i care about more than anything else i just feel like like Caleb has a leg up on what washington is doing well i think so too yes dan quinn is starting from scratch organizationally with a new owner starting from scratch so i just think that i just think that caleb will have more of an opportunity to succeed faster i think the situation is a little bit better here nothing is jadon just talking about the organization because that matters too yes i'm sure i will say something against jadon he stinks i didn't think he was the first round pick when i watched him that guy pulls down and scrambles when he has open receivers more than any guy i've seen if you're asking who's going to get off to the hotter start i actually would lean jadon daniels because he's going to run a lot more than be asked to do a lot less for his offense people might watch him for four weeks and go this dude's got it all and then week five six seven roll around you go oh actually it guys you were saying it's a lot of season it could fool people a little bit not in no disrespect meant too much here but the way just in at times i think it fooled people because it looks so spectacular with his legs and he's such a good athlete but eventually that well that well runs dry in this league we know that no matter how fast you are no matter how athletic you are everybody's athletic everybody's fast yeah and defensive coordinators by and large are good and that well inevitably will run dry the way it did here with justin yeah there's no question about it but i look at Caleb Williams and i look at jane daniels in these two you know i look at both organizations and i you know two african-american quarterback starting against each other in the super bowl for the first time fittingly trebruary 12th is abelike his birthday here we go with the highlights sheh? jeremy Fowler a VSPN has been releasing positional rankings he's serving executives around the league uh cool commit did not crack his top 10 tight ends but jaylin johnson did crack the top 10 corners okay ranked eighth yeah the head of him some guys like jair Alexander and green bay uh new titan lajarius snead sheaves corner tramp mcduffy some of the stars of the league in front of jaylin johnson but shot or no shot eighth is still too low for jaylin johnson among cornerbacks that's a shot that's a shot he's he's actually the one the more sure things on the bears defensively at his position i would agree with that uh but i'm gonna say no shot like i think we're splitting hairs here he's he's eight is that should he be seventh over jair Alexander i mean aren't we kind of are we getting a little too nit picky i don't know i mean i think there are clearly some guys that are better sauce gardener comes to mind pats for tan comes to mind mcduffy probably uh even though he's a little bit younger and a little bit more inexperienced lajarius snead i think so i i don't have too much of a problem with it i think we're splitting hairs a little bit no hairs is she being the top five carm what are you talking about that guy's a shutdown corner is that dion for god's sakes but i know he is but i'm saying though don't you think the arrow's pointing up for the young man i mean yeah i think like he trended in a great direction last year he was hoping to get paid he did i think that will continue i hope he doesn't rest on his laurels he finally started taking the ball away a little bit like he's yeah i mean i think there are plenty of positive things around jaylin johnson it's all trending in a good spot as he answers his prime shay the cubs start their second half after finishing the first half somewhat hot with much of the conversation still surrounding whether they should buy or sell at the deadline four games under 500 today as they start the second half big cat and silvia heard earlier this week said they won't be bullied into believing the cubs should be buyers but shot or no shot if the cubs can get to 500 in the next 10 or so games the next couple weeks before the deadline they need to go at least seven and three and the next 10 to get back to 500 they should buy well let's let's unpack the uh bullied into believing they should buy well no one's getting you know no one's bullying you in anything you fan how you want to fan like no no one's here's the thing i would say that if you're a better baseball team and you can get better in the wild card if nothing else then you should add on to your bull pen one of the major issues with this team carm is that seventh eighth and ninth is unreliable yes so if you feel like you could compete for the wild card you should add on now buying in buying is an off-season term adding on is as in sees that the way i really say is you're adding on while you're in season buying to me is off-season hot stove talk silvia had a great stat yesterday do you know what the cubs record is over the last 260 games no what's that 130 and 130 so russia still be here they're the white Sox no the white Sox two years ago with tony we're a 500 team over like exactly dead even over like three and a half they're they're exactly 500 are they just mediocre it seems to be the answer to that question is yes now i'll call the white Sox fans uh uh i'm taking the white Sox glasses off they seem to be just mediocre i thought the Cubs were going to be better than this i picked the Cubs to win the central i had them in the playoffs right i did too yeah but at some point don't you look at a stat like that you look at the run differential how close it is they're not really lucky or unlucky like maybe this is just it maybe this is maybe we over estimated how good they were going to be maybe this is just it honey 130 and 130 i thought it was interesting when sylvie presented that stat like when do we stop and just say this is kind of who they are they're not terrible they're certainly not great but they don't and again i picked them to go to the playoffs like hoodie did i picked them to win the division now i've watched three months of baseball this year i remember a lot of last year maybe this is like does that look like a team that's competing to win a world series or go on a deep play out front no i know baseball is weird but it doesn't look like it but jet told us at at the beginning of the season in the colorado series at rigglyville when we were over there that he said that we're not there yet that's bold to say by the way because every general manager lies or every every front office guy lies uh or tries to give you a mistruth or a little white lie but he said that like we're not at lana we're not philadelphia we're not going to be at the top but you can't go back to back seasons now and have no playoffs i think that you can survive all i'm telling you is is that you got milwaukey will go arizona for three milwaukey for three and then you go on the road kansas city and then since nadie into the deadline tough tough stretch of games actually it's a pretty good team well if you're if you're still in the mix and you feel like we could get a shot at the scene at the wildcard carm then you add onto your bullpen i've always maintained that they need more offense the chair that you're sitting right now is telling you that it's about pitching but offense gets you through it does because the starting pitching for the cubs is not bad it's good enough like in this series against arizona it's steel hendrick's eminaga i think they're pitching is quite good actually they're starting pitching especially fine and you look at some of the numbers since july first since june first even if you want to go back that far the cubs starting pitching has not been the problem you're right about that it's it's a weird it's a weirdly constructed team where the starting pitching is good enough to keep you in ball games but then the relief core takes you out of it yeah well that's that's a big part of the problem and you can't out slug some of those issues to your point ninth and runs in the national league eleventh in ops well that that's all that tells a story right yes it does you don't have you don't have star power you don't have and you don't have that kind of slug to get you out of it if you're going through a slump but the put the team on me right put him on my back there's nobody in that line up they can do that no cap comes close to times but but she's very good but she's good i thought bellinger would be better i thought you know and not that he's been bad again it's just sort of like okay you know but he no stars doesn't appear to be like a real difference making star in that lineup we have more baseball with jesse roger's coming up at 835 but hey can you sneak in one more because we've got around the NFL next yeah very quickly one of the most dominant athletes of my time is cooked tiger woods is taking shots from sky sports commentators for being hopped up on painkillers just look at his eyes i shot an eight over yesterday he's in danger of missing his third consecutive major cut shot or no shot it's time for tiger to retire that's a no shot oh that's a no shot to no well retire you know why senior tour senior tour yeah well well him against marty fish i'll watch that you saw that right over the weekend him against michael michael oh my god right varkley i mean that's what you'd want now right if he can't be like at the open or the majors anymore yeah well let me see you on a nice you know summer sunday ah there you go the celebrity tours tiger little celebrity little tiger charles barkly marty fish a little little mike moulder that's awesome right that's awesome money fish is awesome by the way that guy that guy can get it done uh have you seen him pretty good i'm the golf course yes i did what he's very good is that right i mean he's an athlete so okay i'll pull it up i did not say they just competed last week last weekend how did i not see this i mean i can imagine he's good enough he's a world-class athlete so that's hilarious that's too funny uh i'm gonna say it's tough watching tiger get around these golf courses i i got to say i think we're getting into shot territory there shay i mean it's just tough he can't make it around he can't navigate the golf course physically he just can't i mean it's it's sad it was the american central celebrity tournament is that what it was yeah you left that i just love it i just want to watch him play against marty i'm like are they going to play tennis oh they're playing golf on the celebrity's pro-am all right joe pevaleski was in there that's awesome joe pevaleski was there the docu-player docu-player Billy joe pevaleski yeah pevaleski how about that yeah that guy yeah him not good now so what why can't they be in lake tahoe and and tiger could be there let him go do that even that's going to be tough he can't get around the course physically he can't do it i still believe in the uh the casey martin kart form maybe we should just get him the casey martin exception remember him in that whole thing yeah oh my god what a fight about it shay that's when you need to be on the air during that time the fight about casey martin whether or not he should have a kart or not i would love to take on that oh shay don't know who casey martin is yeah no no i no i do but you do if tiger's ever in a cart could just stop playing golf for the love of god it's like that one pointy you know you're like bob hope out there in the cart for crying out loud you know i don't think bob hope was in the car he was 90 he was playing right i mean we give bang let me remember tiger as the guy who was in his sink and chips and i know like i i don't need to remember him as this guy you can't walk around a course it's tough it is tough to watch we thank you so much like you bob look at his eyes he's hopped up on painkillers those sky sports commentators the journalistic integrity be damned well it's all hopped up on painkillers i think he's high oh that's awesome we're not making it up folks that actually happened we heard the air audio it's unbelievable it happened around the nfl's next on cap and jhood field the book follows chicago's home for sports on twitch at espn 1000 chicago captain jhood are back on chicago's home for sports espn chicago it both sucks he sucks i'm just a fan i'm not a football evaluator i love the green bay packet the guy is front but there he goes this is not Detroit man this is the super ball i love winner he starts to come any more this is a really thickly built guy i mean what's answer you're looking for all these things here it's time to go around the nfl right here on cap and jhood with carmen difelko in for cap i am jhood jessie rogers with the latest on the cubs and socks everything else mlb at 835 around the nfl here's shay norlin shay all right we have volume one of my wind total wagers today i will have more later i've bet six so far nice when carmen host of the world renowned aughts couple is in studio we'll do a little gambling i love it that's great i'm here too by the way let's do it come on yeah the other thing is too is that we love your mix tape here's volume one now that's right volume one of shay norlin's wind total shay jock jambs volume one it's totally believable this is my no ceilings it's very good so you can tell me uh if you are with me you're gonna run to the kiosk and join with the ticket of your own or if i have lost my natural mind okay i have six wind totals i've already bet we begin with the tennessee titans i have over six and a half winds plus 115 i think they're better than people give them credit for everybody believes their tanking except for them went out and acquired it some defensive help went out and acquired all kinds of help riddly is the uh the is the banana mayo guy the quarterback that's the love question it's if will levis is remotely competent i think they win seven games i don't mind it i don't i think they they were a very active player uh in and around free agency very active and they did add a lot shay does that does that over six and a half start with week one i'm not picking on the win but i think i would pick them to cover today i'm just getting that july i thought right now i'm just getting it out when it happened week one may when the schedule came out don't let it happen scares me don't let it happen on week one the audience changes after a couple of months i just want to get the fresh take that titans team is one of those that's been left for dead lost their coach everybody assumed they stink and you always got to be careful with those i learned my lesson with tampa last year thought they'd be awful i'm not sure about the coaching hire there to be honest that one surprised me with that the coaching hire in tennessee and calahan i don't know that one surprised me a little bit but i i don't it's not a bet i've made it's not one i will make but i don't disagree with shit i think he's on the right side of that one i think they could get to set over six and a half yeah next one shay uh the washington commanders under six and a half even money day below and i think they picked the wrong quarterback if i were them i would have gone with drake may they went with jate daniels i think it's a very short term investment at that position and he with a disaster offense i don't think is the guy i don't think that's a quick fix in washington everything that chico try to put together i just think they're floundering a little bit interesting how this goes for coin the second time around you know i think i'll help the defense because that's what he's always done yeah but i'm not a huge believer or buyer in washington either i think i like the under there yeah all right next one the baltimore ravens under eleven wins minus one twenty last year the historic defense but they lose their coordinator to seattle he's their head coach now and there's just no chance last season they led the league and tackles for loss they led the league and sacks they led the league and turnovers you can't do that twice in a row you just it's impossible it's hard to repeat that kind of defensive performance the thing i like about baltimore is i still think they're a pretty deep and balanced team they added uh two young defensive backs to it is already you know via the draft to it is already one of the more impressive defensive back rooms probably in the league they've got difference makers at every level of their defense they've got probably for what it's worth i know it's a off ball linebacker maybe the best middle linebacker in the game maybe it's friend Warner maybe it's roquan Smith it's probably friend Warner but roquan's awfully close so there's a lot of talent on that team but defense is hard to replicate and i'm not sure they can be quite as good as they were last year but offensively in the second you're under monk and i still think that offense is going to be good and i think zaflowers is going to continue to get better so i don't know that's a tricky one for me well that's the best bet on the board for me so far yeah because so aggression to the means yeah with the this would it could be the second toughest division in the nfl yeah maybe the toughest nfc north and afc north are difficult very ravens cleveland pittsburgh since an adi if you think pittsburgh's the way the worst of them that's fine but bolts more with 13 and 4 that won't happen this year i don't believe i don't like 11 it could be 11 and they'll make the playoffs and they'll make some noise and we push on the bet and we push that they could they could they'd win 10 and be one of the best teams in the nfl they're gonna win the bet and you win the bet sure yes sure but that's the best bet on the board so far for me okay next one uh lions under 10 and a half they are not a secret anymore they are the public everybody loves them i think they could be a super bowl team i also think they're in a really difficult division they play a first place schedule they were blessed with perfect health last year that doesn't happen twice in a row ten win team to me and i win under 10 and a half what do you think they were 12 and 5 last year um i'm fine with that i'm fine with that again i haven't made any one of these in particular but 10 you think they're gonna be real close i think the lions are good and like shay said he's not saying they're not legit or even a super bowl contending team yeah i think they're really they might have the best offensive line in the league they completely revamped their secondary which they needed to do it was awful last year especially the back half of the season they're trotting kindleville they're out there he's getting towards the trotting sutting out there he's getting towards held them back actually totally like they they completely revamped uh that secondary and i think that'll be helpful for them look that offense is legit i was never the world's biggest jared goth fan i still maybe have a few questions on how far jared goth can get you but he had a three touchdown lead in the NFC title game on the road you know i mean so he's doing something right they retained ben johnson i think that offense is really good and they're going to be really explosive they're right around 11 for me so hey 10's probably better for the bears i'll say that i'll cheer for it shake because it's better for the bears but that went to me is awfully close that that that devs look like about an 11 win football team to me i'm basically counting on injury but last year they had nothing go wrong for them on that offensive line i think ragnow missed a short time jona jackson a little bit but yeah for their main guys taylor decker penne su will to be as healthy as they have i just i don't think you can stay that healthy fair enough yeah and i think that goes perfect for you year after year so you always look for it yeah looking for injury but it just happens because it's the NFL yeah all right give us one more uh do two more i have two more i teased six i'll put them together i have the bills over 10 and a half everybody's written their death notice i don't think they're a super bull contender but i do think with josh allen it's hard to win fewer than 11 games as good as he's been uh they went and got key on colman in the draft so it's not like he's totally bereft of receiver help with digs gone and the other one is another kind of contrarian play chargers under eight and a half plus one forty five that team eight of them harvaugh and teams of roster management though yeah they're old on defense they're in cap el they have no receivers greg roman for justin herbert what i like that i like i like the chargers with the bills it's a layoff for me i'm not gonna hit i'm not gonna touch the stove because i know it's hot why would i keep touching the stove knowing i'm gonna burn my hand not i was the thing they could sweep the AFC east but still like but i can't trust them down the stretch you got two freebies against new england you know you probably at worst split with miami jets maybe the jets too i don't i'm with you i don't think the bills are gonna be nearly as bad as people think i still think that's a a talented roster with a good coach and a quarterback that is you know bordering on excellent right i mean if he's not excellent he's awfully close and he's very very good so chargers i hate to go against my guy herbert but i think you make a compelling argument how dare you say lad mcconky is not of any value how dare you besmirch the name of lad mcconky fantastic you got josh palmer and lad mcconky wonderful you don't have big great roman you don't have keenan alan you've got like an air rate offense in roster construction with the guy who built kalen kapernik and lamar jack good luck to you here's what i'm gonna do here's what i'm gonna push you through that last window you say something else about lad mcconky and son of a bitch better you better not say anything about the great light mcconky the great lad mcconky you you you better not say anything about at two hundred bulldog i'm hoping lad mcconky has like i don't think it's gonna happen but like because he just and herbert everybody knows my love for just and herbert like could he have the he won't have the puka year he's not gonna go for 1500 yards but and he's not an unknown i mean lad like everybody knows he was a second round pick he started georgia like we know lad mcconky but then right by week nine or ten could we be like holy cow look at lad mcconky closing in already at a thousand yards you know that'd be fun i love lad mcconky so i think it's it could be good for herbert he finally uh you know after the the flub of quinton jonston last year they might have picked a good one in mcconky we'll see one big segment with jessie roger's is coming up next if you talk cubs and socks everything else mlb with carmen defalco and for cap i'm jay hood on the cap and jayhood morning show
