I know you still go to the teller. So, I mean-- - That's a good question. I did not look at my bank account. - You probably should, pal. - Probably should. - So because of this global computer outage that's affecting airports, banks and other businesses on Friday appears to stem from at least partly from a software update issued by major U.S. cybersecurity firm, CrowdStrike. Now, the CEO of this particular Microsoft Windows, George Kurtz, says that a defect was found in a single content update of its software on Microsoft Windows operating systems. In further news, George Kurtz will be fired. - George Kurtz will no longer be the CEO of CrowdStrike. They said it's not cyber, it's not a cyber attack, it's not terrorism, it's not anything like that. I'm like, okay, I did just check my bank account and everything looks okay. I wish there was more money in it, but everything looks okay. So I guess that's good. But like, I didn't know about it either. I got up this morning and I got up about 10 to five and then like 15 minutes later, Ping and I looked down and it's Shae and I see it's a text to, you know, it's the three of us on the text chain. And I'm like, okay, Shae's already sending some stories and some things for, you know, and I'm, all of a sudden I look more closely and it's, you know, Shae said something like, what are the odds that our computers work? And I'm like, oh, what happened? I start looking on X and I sit and looking at the Tweety Cens and some guys talking about this is the real Y2K and I'm like, come on, what did I miss overnight? And I think that guy was being a little alarmist, by the way, Shae, I don't think it's Y2K, but. - Yeah, it doesn't feel like Y2K at all. But it is, like, I woke up and the first thing I saw is Delta and American and United, oh, full ground stops globally, couldn't get planes in the air. And I'm like, how crazy is it? Microsoft puts out a bad update and planes can't take off. - It is scary, isn't it? - So here's what's so great about that is, those airlines are airlines, I do not take. They make sure, I make sure I go to the airline that's friendly to the wide shoulders. Southwest, I would be peacocking my way right through the airport. Oh, you guys are stranded? Here I go. Ah, Southwest. West Palm, it's all on the body. (laughing) Where do you guys, you're waiting on what? - You're waiting on, where you going? - Southwest had no problem? - It never has any problem. Are you kidding me? - Dude, you picked the right one it looks like. - It's the airline with stretch marks, it's the best. Are you kidding me, Carmen? It's the very best. I tell this story all the time about, like, you know, when you go to Southwest, it's so friendly because, you know, if you like to have a wheelchair, you can have one. Doesn't matter if you're upright. If you're in the world, they'll just wheel you around. - They'll just wheel you around? - Yeah, and so when I go, obviously, I go to the desk, I say, "Hey, you know, I'm just checking in." Would you like an extra seat, sir? - Really? - Yeah, yeah, no problem. And then you've got, you know, War of Heroes and everybody else. And it's like, you know, like, would you like to board first? Yeah, no problem. Thanks for your service. So long. So long sucker. (laughing) So it's the very best. - But he's given us thank you for your service on the way in. - As I go in first, for the pre-board. I saw some of the pictures from airports around the country, especially on the east coast. - Yeah. - That'd be the worst thing. You get to the airport, you're waiting, ground stop, some sort of IT problem. Yes, Shay, the answer is yes, it is scary. - Yes. - That there can be a bad update and planes can take off and trains can't operate properly. Like the subway, I guess this morning in New York, was pretty messed up. I think everything's good here so far. I took the train down this morning. I took the metro, no problem. - So one thing I have heard, apparently our transit here is fine, but one thing I've heard is that there are certain places where like gas stations, their ability to accept credit card payment is down. So if you don't have cash, which nobody does in 2024, you can't get gas. - You're screwed. You have to start siphoning the gas hoodie. I mean, just a little error like that. - Did you watch the Netflix movie, they released in the spring with Julia Roberts and Ethan Hawke. What was it called? Leave the world behind? Did you watch that? - Yeah, scary. - If you just disrupt our power grid, you know, like we crumble. - Yeah. - You know? We can't go back 100 years, 150 years at this point. We can't do it, hoodie. - We can go back at least 40 though, you and I, because we could survive on it. Just to have a little stash. - That's true. - You know, on the south side of town you put it in a crown royal bag, you bury it, you know? - Right, I have a little cash, right? - I got some cash. - Just in case. - I've got some hidden in the backyard, no joke. I got a little cash, just, you don't know. I didn't, now I don't want people to go and dig it up my backyard. - Not that much, it's not worth your effort, but there's like a little scratch laying around just in case. - I've got it, I've got all those things prepared for years, I had still the old box TV, Justin Case, right? - Right, Justin. - I think we talked about this one at a time, but the old box TV, while everyone else has the, you know, the modern TV, I had the box, Justin Case. Keep the rabbit ears, just in the box. - Justin Case. - Just in case the world comes to an end, you gotta find out, make sure everything's good. - Guess who's gonna make it with those rabbit ears? Who it is, all right? So you call us crazy, but you know, you gotta think about it every once in a while. We could go back about 40 years, we could. - I think we, and think we could survive. We could watch old Newhart re-rest. - That's exactly right, Dr. Hartley. - Rest in peace, Dr. Hartley. Be able to do that. - We could. - The other thing is to say is that we would actually pick up books and read. - Well, I still do that, I love to read a book, I know as a reader. - I'm a reader, yeah, I still do like to do that. I don't like, and I don't read it on, I don't like reading on a tablet. Oh, I like, I like still actually reading books. I don't, you know, I do not download books or anything like that, I don't have a Kindle. I want to hold the book in my hand. That's a little old. - I like a nice stem winder, a nice book to be able to flip through. And I would say that you could use your Microsoft Surface for it, but I don't think that's working today. - It's not, looks like no shot. (laughing) Chase says it's only for big business. - Well, when was the last time like you walked into a bank to withdraw cash? 'Cause if ATMs are down, that's where things would get tricky, you have to walk into a bank and take out cash. To check out a withdrawal, I don't know, I can't even, 15 years, right? - Yeah, at least a dozen years, right? - Probably more than that, yeah. To actually go into the teller. - Maybe you cash a check every once in a while, but not like to actually go into a teller and write out and fill out the slip and be like, I need to withdraw this from my checking account or my savings account. - And then you do it all digitally now. - You do it all digitally. - That the bank's computers in the building work so they can pull your account up and get the money out. - That's why it's scary. - Well, Jay Moore, there's always a go around with that. I mean, for now, Jay Moore, for his side work, he still just catches his stuff at the currency exchange, right? Don't you still just walk in and just-- - Jay Moore, is that true? - No, it's not true. He goes right into the currency exchange, is able to catch his stuff. - I could, I could, I could definitely do that. - But the problem is for Jay Moore, though, when he catches his stuff, he's ashamed to say it, but I'll say it for him. The idea that, you know, the currency exchange will take about 10% off the top. I mean, that's the licorice. - That's the problem. - Yeah, that's the fee, right? - Did you see his stuff? - Yeah. - In India, this person posted a photo on Twitter. Their boarding pass was hand-written. Their name is in hand. - Oh, wow. - The confirmation is written on the boarding pass in pen. - Because it is? - Yeah, they couldn't get on the computer to print out a boarding pass. - That, I mean, you talk about old-- - There's another-- - There's another-- - It's a hedge tag. - You're not getting your bags. - What was the last time you even had a boarding pass, like a printed boarding pass? I've got five burning questions for Carm in our next half hour as well regarding the Bears. I do wanna talk to you about Matty Rafluis. I know we'll talk a lot about him and the season as we progress, but I just thought today, Carm, I wanna talk to you about Rafluis, because the one thing that can't leave my mind despite all the changes happening with the Bears, the good changes, by the way, I don't think that we've seen an off season quite like this for the Bears. All the off seasons that we've gone through, hey, there's a draft pick they can rely on. Here's one free agent pick up or maybe two. They have done so much this off season, sweeping changes to try to increase their chances to get to the playoffs. But with Matty Rafluis, the one thing that can't leave me is some of the mistakes that he made as a Neophyte head coach in year one and some of the year two, the time outs, you and Jerk have talked about that as well, just a little things. Little things and little decisions can hold you back from a victory or from where you want to be. And my question is, do you think that Rafluis, with the amount of veterans and new players on the team, that he's smartened up or to the point where he can get out of the way and be able to say, okay, I've got, I've got two years under my belt, I'm gonna be a better coach this year. That's the question. - Yeah, I think it's a fair question. Like we were reading the results from that athletic poll yesterday that they had, the fans submitted, they could vote on. And like one of the questions, Abdullah was going through them with us and one of the questions was about your level of trust or faith or confidence out of one, you know, one through five out of Iberfluis. And like, I'm a three, that's what I had said. And that's where I think the masses landed. And I'm like, even just almost barely out of three. So how convinced am I? I don't know, I think it's a fair question. On the positive side, or the most positive thing I guess I could say by Iberfluis is the job he did last year to stabilize things when it looked like, when it looked like that boat was gonna capsize, right? And sink to the bottom. That start was horrific. And they weren't prepared to play, they weren't ready to play, they're firing offensive coordinators, excuse me. That's on him, that's on the head coach, that's his guy. He vouched, he brought him here. And, okay, you could say, well, his horrible deeds and the things he did to get himself fired weren't the things done by Matt Iberfluis, but he brought him here, that was his guy. And everything was, I mean, it was like a dumpster fire in those first four weeks. And somehow he was able to stabilize things. And I guess that shouldn't go totally unnoticed. Like, it keeps pointing out that he found a way to keep those guys playing for him and believing in the message. And so I suppose there's something to that, he gets a few, he can have a few positive checks for that, but I still have a lot of questions, yeah, I do, hoodie. I mean, I'm not totally convinced, but I guess we'll see, we'll see how the season goes, we'll see how games are managed. Hey, that's an important thing, like you said. And if you give up some of those play-calling details and duties again, and you are like solely responsible for understanding the flow of the game and being sure that you're on top of every last detail. Like, let's see how you handle that now in a season in which there are, you know, higher expectations than he's ever had going into a season. He's like the favorite for coach of the year. I mean, think about that. I saw that. Very high expectations. And he hasn't had that yet. So at the OTA's, Iberfluis was strong. Hey, I appreciate you being here. You know, I know you guys don't have to be this. It's voluntary, and I understand that. And everybody here appreciates you doing this, okay? 'Cause this is a big time for us. As you guys can see, made some big moves, right? This team is a different football team, and the time is now for us. At the end of this guys, in February, there's gonna be one of 32 teams, one that had a winning season, just one. And we have everything in this room, everything I'm telling you right now, to get that done. But it comes down to what? Preparation. - I mean, that's pretty good for like a good, early summer meet of the speech. It's pretty good. I'm, I'm sure it's more fiery once you get to Lake Forest and into the season. But, you know, when we hear from Lake Forest that the players play hard for Matt Iberfluis, and they respect Matt Iberfluis. Okay, it's one thing to say that you play hard, but there was a time where the results were not there. It's one thing to say, I like the head coach. He holds me accountable. But if you, if your job is, is not on the line, then it's like, well, I'm playing for the paycheck, and I'm, we're trying to get results happening, but it's not, but it's not working. You can like the coach, but if you're not winning, what does that matter? 'Cause it's about respect, but it's also about winning. If you like him that much, you will do everything you can. You go through a wall to make sure that you win a game, or at least win your battle. - Ultimately it comes down to that. Like how much are you going to win? How much are you going to lose? That's what's going to dictate the fate of all these guys. But, you know, you look around this league and you do see certain situations where coaches' voices are completely tuned out. Sometimes it's because a coach maybe has been there a little bit too long and the message starts to get lost. Sometimes it's because they just can't command a room. They can't command a team. They're sending the wrong message. Look at Josh McDaniel's. - Yeah. - In two places within a year and a half, Josh McDaniel's has crashed and burned, not just because of the losses hoodie, but because his players couldn't stand him. That nobody's buying into the message, nobody's believing him there. And he's not the only one. There are plenty of examples we could go through and find. It does seem to be different with either of those. Now, yeah, eventually you've got to win. I agree with that. And like that's still to be determined. And he's going to be in a situation like I said now where there are more expectations than ever. He's never been in a situation like this as a head coach where you are expected to be a playoff team or certainly close to it. And you're expected to be banging on the door of 10 or 11 wins. Like those are the reasonable, I don't think crazy, like reasonable expectations for this team, for all the things that happened during the course of the last couple of off season to get them to this point. So ultimately you've got to get to some wins. I get that, but players do seem to believe in his message. And Ryan Polscher believes in it. That's not lip service. Ryan Polscher said it on numerous times now. And he doesn't do a lot of speaking publicly anyway. And every chance he's had to, he's gone out of his way to praise the leadership ability of the coach. So he obviously sees something. They believe in his message. That's a step in the right direction. That's encouraging. At some point though, you're not wrong. It's got to lead to victories. - Yeah, and hopefully that'll be that way here in year three for Eber Flus. - And yes, in our lifetime of Chicago sports fans, there's plenty of coaches or managers that were the leader of the helm and the players just had to believe in them, i.e. Darryl Sutter. - Poor Darryl Sutter. (laughing) - I.E. Mark Trussman. - I.E. Dennis Sivar. - Get a support savvy too, I know. - Commit to the Union. Or you get out of here. - So how do you try it? - Commit to the Indian or get out. - Or send them upstairs. - Send them upstairs and get them out of here. - Cody and I were on it that night. We were on it that night. We were on remote in Wrigleyville, remember? - Yeah. (laughing) - Who was it? God, who is producing? Was it Joe Fisher? - Yeah. - Was it Joe? And he's like, he's telling us down the line, he's like, "We gotta play Black Hawk Sound." We're like, "Black Hawk Sound." This is 2007, you know? And it's like, "Black Hawk Sound, are you?" "What do you mean?" And Sivar just went off. (laughing) - That's great. - No. - That was Joel Quindville in the stands with his yellow pad and pen. Writing down the things that's wrong with the hockey club. - Think about Trussman. Those players didn't believe in that message for one second. - No. - Well, it's hard for you to coach when you're in the back of the room in the meeting. You can get a, I don't know what they call it, but it's something close at McDonald's. You're gonna make cafe. - That's right. - Yeah, you got it right. - So the Sen girls will change on the fly, it's McDonald's time. - See, that's great. We're helping people, Shay. People helping people. - Can I put my Tim foil hat on for a moment? - Oh boy, two, here we go. - I googled CrowdStrike. - Going so well. - I've never heard a CrowdStrike, so I just googled CrowdStrike. And yesterday, 9.30 a.m. Eastern, Nasdaq.com published an article calling CrowdStrike a strong buy. Since the time that's posted, - Bad timing. - 4%. - Well, I would think bad timing. CrowdStrike. Like Cody said, George, was it George Kurtz? - Yeah. - Soon to be former CEO. - Yes. - Yes. - I've never heard of this stock yesterday. It's strong buy. Today, it's every headline in America. - Not so much. - Because they had the biggest fail imaginable. - I was trying to think that too, when I was reading the story on the train this morning, my phone was working, I was happy. But again, I have an Apple. So I was like CrowdStrike, CrowdStrike. Do I, I said, it kind of sounds familiar, but do I know them? What is that? Who is it? - They seem to be a pretty big player in IT security for a lot of companies. - Yeah, you're a meatball. You thought that CrowdStrike was an app for travel baseball. - I mean-- - That's what you thought it was. - Yeah, I'm like, there's some sort of app that's logging us to two sticks now. - That's what you thought it was. - Is there something new to get other than game changer? You know, and I'm like-- - You're worried about your tournament today. - Yeah. - I'm like CrowdStrike. - That's all of this. - I am. - You're, you're, that's what you thought about CrowdStrike. - That's a new app. You can find out, you know, the outside inside pitches, CrowdStrike, that's outstanding. - Your tournament, Ipswich, that you're gonna go to today. - Ipswich, baby. - That's where you're going. You know what I have for you? - What do you have? - I got five burning questions. - Five, I like it. - Five burning questions when it comes to the Bears. - I love it, let's do it. - It's coming up next. With Carmida Falco in for cap, I'm Jay Hood. We're on ESPN 1000 and also on our YouTube channel. (beeping) - Here's to Dave's headline. - Headline. - With cap and Jay Hood. - Brain gas. - All right, time for headlines. - The wrong mic on, sorry. Time for headlines. Also break is over in baseball teams back in action. Today, the Cubs play a day game as the Diamondbacks roll into town. I think the Cubs can pick up where they left off after finishing the first half. Pretty hot winning eight of 11. White Sox are in Kansas City to take on a good broils team. To begin the second half, Bulls pick up Summer League action tonight against Atlanta Hawks. That game tips at 5.30 on NBA, TV and ESPN Plus. Bosellis has looked good so far. Alabama said they're gonna honor Nick Saban by naming the playing field after him. So it will be Nick Saban field at Bryant Denny Stadium. Ceremony to dedicate the field will take place in conjunction with Alabama's game against South Florida on September 7th and Zack Edie. Heard his footers, ankle the other day, but he's the consensus for the rookie of the year. One player's taking more bets than any other though. And it's Bronnie James. - Howling the table. (laughing) - He has attracted one in four rookie of the year bets at ESPN bet per ESPN network. - Howling the table. - That ain't gonna happen. There is gonna be no Bronnie James for rookie of the year. That is for sure. - What is the editorializing? Would you just give the, what are you doing there? - I'm sorry, those are the headlines. (laughing) - Floyd Calvert. (laughing) - The flame is lit. - I'd have been my plus odd. - That's your question. - Yeah, you got to ask me. - Five. - Five. - Burning questions. I asked you a question. - Answer me when I talk. - On cap and J-hood. - ESPN true card. - Five burning questions for Carmen de Falco. He's in for cap, I'm J-hood. Here on the cap and J-hood morning show on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. With you till 10 o'clock then Adam Abdullah is in for greeny. Abdullah will be in a 10 followed by Bleck and Yurco. Leck is in for Carmen from 12 to three. And then Waddland Sylvie 236 30 into White Sox baseball with Len, DJ, and yours truly. White Sox in Royals, 630 per game right here. On the home of the White Sox, ESPN 1000. Five burning questions, Carmen, let's start here. - Let's do it. - Number five. - Carmen, what was Ryan Paul's best off-season move? Choices are signing safety Kevin Byard, signing running back DeAndre Swift, trading for Keenan Allen, or drafting wide receiver Roma Dunezay. - It is Keenan Allen or a Dunezay, I mean a Dune, I guess I'll say a Dunezay kind of fell in their lap in a good way and like they didn't overreact or like doing it in crazy that night, like have to trade future. Yeah, I'm gonna say Keenan Allen, like getting Keenan Allen for a rookie quarterback, well done, and at first my reaction was like, wow, that's a lot to give up for a guy who's gonna probably want it done. But the more you think about it, the more you hear the way like their process behind it and why they wanted him, I think it makes some sense. Maybe I'm just drinking the Kool-Aid and they talk me into it, but I do think the idea behind it makes a lot of sense and to have that kind of a little bit of a, if you want to call it a safety valve or whatever, for Caleb Williams, I think was well done, I'd say, by Ryan Paulson. So if you sacrifice a fourth round pick for it, if it really helps the development of your rookie quarterback, so be it. I think it's a price that you might look back on and say it was worth paying. So I'll say Keenan Allen. Yeah, this is from the ethlek.com and Kevin Fishbane, what was Paul's best offseason move? 61% said drafting wide receiver Roma Dunezay, 32% say Keenan Allen, trading for Keenan Allen. Now, what Keenan Allen, from that standpoint, Karm, if nothing else that solidifies another veteran wide receiver, my hope is, again, fingers and toes crossed that Keenan Allen can give you more than just 12, 13 games. I know he's had a history of injuries, but if nothing else, it solidifies a veteran wide receiver. How long he's gonna be here? I don't know, but I'd rather have someone who's been there and done that and underrate it, in my view, actually underrated numbers wise, than to have just some offshoot, just some average wide receiver. So they go to Dunezay, drafting him, but Keenan Allen's a close second. All right, what's next? Number four. Next one is this. Carmen DeFalco. Did Ryan Polls make the right move in trading Justin Fields with Caleb Williams? Yes. Yes. 89% say yes. Yes, he did. I like to talk to the 10% to say no. 10% actually say no, yeah, they still believe. I don't know, I mean, sometimes it's hard to talk people out of certain things, but, and I get that Justin was likable and he was exciting at times, but no, I think there was enough of a data sample to tell you that he probably wasn't going to be able to play the position. At the level at which you want your quarterback to play the position, if you're really gonna take a step as a franchise, if you're gonna be a championship contender, he just, he wasn't getting there. And so I think a reset was necessary, especially when you, you know, find your way to the top overall pick, yeah. I'm hoping that he has a nice season with Pittsburgh. I hope that he does because it should not, this should not be the end for him. The door should not be closed. It's Russell Wilson who's in the autumn of his career. And still, Justin's a young man. He's just that, man, that hitch in your, in your throwing arm along with you not getting the ball out and the timing and the clock in your head. Either that's gonna be fixed or it won't be calm. It's gonna be, it's one or the other. And it won't under Mike Tomlin. He's not gonna, he's not trying to tutor the kid 'cause he's trying to win. Of course, yeah. I mean, I, I don't know how that gets fixed. I don't know who can do it. I don't know at what point all of a sudden like it clicks. If it hasn't by this point, I tend to think it's not going to, but maybe Arthur Smith being there is good for him and can help him if we'll see how much he even gets to play. I don't know the, the reports out of Pittsburgh have been that Russell Wilson was clearly through what, you know, whatever OTA program they had was clearly the better looking quarterback. So I don't know how much Justin's even going to, how much Justin's gonna get to play there. We'll see. I don't know if it can be fixed or not, but I'm, I'm definitely on the, with the 89 or 90% that said, Paul's did the right thing. It was time to, time to move on. - All right, what is next? - Number three. - What is next? Number three. Carm, what position concerns you the least on the Bears? Is it quarterback, tight end, linebacker, running back, cornerback, wide receiver? - The least, I guess I'd say running back because I, what difference does it make? I don't care who you add, what you subtract. They're a dime a dozen, they're fungible. The Bears have had no problem with their running back room the last couple of years. Don't know why they felt that necessary to go out and add on day one for agency, but they did. And that's no disrespect to DeAndre Swift. He's fine, he's fine player. He'll be, he'll be good in this offense. Running the football has not been a problem for this team. I don't anticipate it to be a problem. It's my, the least of my concerns. - 69% say wide receiver. I feel like it's solidified. - I get that because it does look to be solidified. It's the deepest, the best it's ever looked, probably, right? I mean, maybe, you know, like they've popped some good individual seasons. Al Sean, B. Marsh was good. Al Sean had a near record breaking year, near record setting year for the Bears. He was good for a little while, but like the, the depth is greater than almost any time I can imagine or any time I can remember. - I can't believe that you've been wrong about the running back for at least a decade. It's just, it's just amazing. As it's like the idea that you just put anybody back there, just put a toaster over back there and you can run the football is not true. Because it's about a skill set. The idea that is, you know, fungible, just dime a dozen, harm, you have to be able to find a running back nowadays that could be able to catch the football. Not everybody could do that 'cause those that can't do that are no longer on this football team. As you well know, you gotta have someone that could chip. Gotta have somebody that could, so it's not just between the tackles anymore. You have to have someone that's multifaceted and if you get a couple of those guys in a roster, that's great. Everyone can't have that same skill set. You wouldn't remember about this for a decade. - You can find them anywhere, you know it. - No, you can't find them anywhere. - That's not true. Nobody pours resources into the running back position. - I agree with that part. - Yeah, so the idea that every running back could do the same thing is not true. 'Cause there's all a skill. - Oh, yeah, okay. There's a skill, yeah. They've got, their running back room is fine. - They're looking for Del's back. - Yes. - There he is. - Is he coming back in? Is he coming to come around here? - He's coming, I told him to come back around. - I love it. - Shea, bring in Nick Friedel. - We saw him yesterday all of a sudden. - We're doing cross talk with Waddle and Sylvie. And Sylvie looks up, he looks looking down the street and goes, "Hey, there's Nick Friedel." We're like, "What? There he is. There's Nick." - He's coming in, but I don't think he can speak. - He can speak. - 'Cause he allowed to speak? - Do you know why they're in town? He can't, he went on the air. He went out with Waddle and Sylvie. - Okay. - You know why he's in town? - Why? - Dave McMeneman's bachelor party. They're here in Chicago this weekend for it. - Ah. - I think they're going to the cup game today. - Oh, that's pretty awesome actually. - Friedel spent 20 minutes with Waddle and Sylvie talking about how he always told everybody the Bulls couldn't win, the Bears can't win. - I'm scared with it. - It was fantastic. Just pissing everybody off. I love it. - We've got more of the five burning questions coming up right here on The Captain Jhood Morning Show. (upbeat music) - You're listening to Captain Jhood. Follow the show on Instagram @thecatman and @IGJhood. This is ESPN Chicago. Chicago's home for sports. - Five. - Five. - Burning questions on Captain Jhood. - ESPN triple. - All right, we got five burning questions here. We're in the middle of it. J Moore. - Number two. - Okay. Carm, what is your biggest gripe of the off season? - That they don't have a pass rusher opposite Montez sweat, or at least a proven established one as of now. That'd be my biggest gripe. - So if they signed in Gakwe, you'd be good, or someone else. 'Cause, I mean, look, you have Montez sweat on one side, and it's not like the Bears are bereft of quality on the defensive line. It's just that proven talent. Like, for instance, Montez sweat's on one side, but then what do you think of Andrew Bellings, or Dexter, or Demarcus Walker? - Yeah, like Walker. That's the one I questioned. Like, that's your best option on the other end of the line. Maybe it'll be a little bit more productive than it was a year ago. Maybe Austin Booker's like this year's Mark Anderson. You know, maybe a rookie comes out and can situationally pass rush and be really good and get eight, nine, 10 sacks. That'd be fantastic. If, would I be happy if they signed in Gakwe? I don't know. I mean, you're gonna probably get 'em for a few million bucks, so it's probably not the worst thing. - Still be under the cap. - Yeah, exactly. Or any of the other. I mean, we looked at the list the other day. It's not like, Agba's available still. Like, it's not a great looking list at this point. It wasn't last year in August, though, when they took a chance on in Gakwe. And, you know, he started to pop a little bit more once sweat got here, and that unfortunately got hurt. So, I don't know. I think they could use a slightly more veteran established pass rusher on the other side. I think that's still maybe the biggest weakness of this team and the one thing I question. It might be the thing that prevents them from being like a, like, a good defense. You know, it might prevent them from being a great elite defense. So, we'll see. See how it goes, and maybe one of the young guys can step up and do it. - The defense is a good looking house with linebacker help and secondary help. But it's like a house that's perfect, but it has one cocked window. - Yeah. - And you're like, why is that window cocked? That's strange. - You need to finish the job. - Yeah, why is the window cocked? And that is the lack of pass rush on the other side of the defensive line. - Yeah, they got playmakers at every level, but they could use one more opposite sweat, I think. - Speaking of one more, number one. - Which 2023 draft pick are you most excited about entering year two? Is it Tyler Scott, Zach Pickens, Roshan Johnson? Running back to Diamond doesn't look it up, kids. - Diamond doesn't look it up. - I like Roshan. - He's a running back. Why would you do that? - He didn't need to sign the Andre Swift. - For crying out loud. - Okay. Tyreek Stevenson, Travon Dexter Darnell Wright. - Ooh, man. - What are you excited about for year two? - I mean, can you be excited about old linemen? I don't know. You know, like they just go do their job and there's, right? I mean. - It's unbelievable. It's unbelievable. How do you just, I mean, you just set aside running back to the side offensive lineman. - No, not all. I mean, it's either right or Stevenson. I'm having a hard time answering that one. - I'll say Darnell Wright. I'll say Darnell Wright. Stevenson's exciting too, but I'll say Darnell Wright. - To me, I tried to dumb down the thought. I want to be able to have players I have to worry about. - Yes. - If Darnell Wright is an anchor on the offensive line for 10 years, you have to worry about it. - Yeah. - That's what I look at. - Yes. That's a good way to put it. And you don't, you shouldn't have to think about it. Like, if he's great, you don't, that's, you just know he's great. - So I think there's a really exciting fun element about Stevenson, but like when it comes to what's best for this football team, what's going to help make them better? Like Darnell Wright being really, really good is going to help them tremendously. So I'll say that's what I'm most excited about. - All right. That's five burning questions right here on the cap and Jhood Morning Show on ESPN 1000. And on the ESPN Chicago app, we've got a shot or no shot coming away at eight o'clock. Look who's here. - Look with the cat track. - It's time for Bulls Buzz. Here's Nick Friedell. Nick. (laughing) - Turn his mic out. - Turn his mic out. - What's up, brother? - I've wanted to go back to the old days and just go, "Hoody!" (laughing) At 11.45 in some strange room in the bottom of the UC is, and the Bulls Buzz in the beginning was great because all they did was weird. Everybody was happy. - Yeah. - Then it started to slowly. - Then Derek got hurt. - Then Derek got hurt and everything changed. - It's a long time. - It's nothing like a travel wearing Nick Friedell. - No. - Finally comes home, has to cover a Bulls game. We're doing the show 10 to midnight. It's 11.45. - And always, and here's Nick, by the way, just spurts out. - Jimmy's changed. (laughing) - What? - He's not the same leader, hoodie. - Yeah, that's great. - He's what? What happened? It just slips out. Then something that happens almost at midnight becomes news. - Yes, exactly. - Because, you know, Pax is listening in the car. - Nah. - Everybody listen. Everybody listen going home. That is for sure. Somehow everybody's listening at 11.45. - That is for sure. - Pax has passed. - Those are the good days though. Coming back and just walking around. I mean, there is no better place. - Chicago. - No. - This is the place. Especially in the summer, but this is the place. It's just, I miss it. - You need to move back, Nick. - I've thought about it a lot. The winters killed me. (laughing) - I know. - The winters, the winters. - The winters killed me. (laughing) - I mean, I lived in my whole life. They killed me. (laughing) - I hate it. - You guys just power through it every year. - Somehow. - But it is the best. And I was just, I was walking around last night and I was thinking of all the good times of all the moments. But, oh, hoodie. When I saw you when I was walking down the street and I looked in, I thought, oh my gosh. The amount of times that you and I would just stand here and be like, oh, it's not going well right now. (laughing) - And it's worse than it was. - Yeah. - Oh, yeah, it is. - It's really bad. - Oh, yes it is. - I'll miss you guys, Ben. - Yeah, I heard you yesterday with Waddle and Sylvia on my way home and there. Once you got to rip and cutler, that was it. - Oh, no. (laughing) - That was the best. - They could take it. - I'm like, it's just pissing everybody off. - They couldn't take it. - The cars can't win, the bears can't win. The bus can't win. - Yeah, it's all bad. - It's fantastic. - But, hoodie, I feel so bad for you some days. I clicked the podcast. - 'Cause I went for a cap. - Well, when I hear, when I hear caps, riffing on, I was getting on them yesterday because if I turn on one more time and he goes, well, Mr. Ricketts, he's trying to, I'm Mr. Ricketts, what the? - He's starting calling him Mr. Ricketts. - Mr. Ricketts? - It's happened multiple times because I'm an avid listener of the station and especially the show because that's what I'm getting up and starting to move in the morning. And I want to be like, yeah, what in the? - Yeah. - You spend enough. - You're ready, Jed, okay, I'd be done. But the problem is always up top. It's the same with the bulls and the white sock, certainly. It's the same with the cubs. It's always all the way up top. And it's been that way for a long time. - Yeah, I mean, it's the way it is. I'd like to ask, how sad were you to be able to check into your hotel and not be able to get to Dickus and realize that there was no Dickus there. - You shut down. - You had to chestnut, that's not the way. - It's hard for me to walk back by the whole apartment because I think of all the times I did go in there. I still text my main Carlos here and there. - Carlos works by me at the one. - Yeah, right at the Dickus in Oprah. - But it is, things have changed around here as you guys know better than me. But it's still, you can still have the places that you spend the most time. And for me, going over there and get the cheeseburger sliders. I still remember one of the first times I went on ESPN, like television, and I came back to my apartment and I walked over to Dickus. And they're like, man, the cooks in the back were going nuts, they're like, that's the mini cheeseburger, no pickle guy. (laughing) - And that was one of the happiest moments. (laughing) And it was one of the most proudest moments I had in my whole time here because I would always order the same thing. - Fantastic. - R.I.P. to Dickus on this night. - Yeah, on chess. - Oh, the best. - O.G., I know. It's sad, the sign and everything. I don't know how many shows we did there over the years. - Oh my God. - I'm glad that Dickus and Oprah are still open. And Grille 89's open, not far from me. It's like a couple of few miles from my house where we go there all the time. And I see Carlos there a lot, so. It's good to see Carlos and the crew. - See Carlos and Paul. - Always. - Have fun now, bash the party weekend. It's not your bash the party, it's McMahon. - That's yeah. - He said two guys were passed out at nine o'clock last night. It's like boys. Rachys did a man. It's the first day, man.
