Now time for a shot or no shot brought to you by the ESPN that now live in Illinois download the ESPN app get a hundred dollars in free bets that you make your first sports book that looks good morning to Charles Evans good morning boys how we doing a day before 4th of July hope we all got the got the grill brushes ready and everything spectacular spectacular all right boys the disaster continued for the good so you're not gonna ask me Charlie you're just gonna barrel through I threw it out there it was an open-ended one well I didn't get a chance to get my thought out but but but you know what go ahead Jack just go ahead barrel just barrel through oh here's AI Jack it's smoky wait a minute no it's wait Jack smoke you're different what I know that smoky is just a pot in sure there was no room for me to get my thoughts out cap so we're gonna let Charlie just go ahead what are you doing today buddy you know what's great to jazz man I'm still aggravated about the White Sox yesterday but the point is just like just like the manager for the Cubs would say Craig council tomorrow's another day another ball game yeah we'll get him tomorrow get in tomorrow offense chance in first inning and didn't come up with a big hit and thought Hayden threw a few nice strikes yeah obviously left the ball up in the zone a little bit you got hit hard we'll just try and see what we can do tomorrow that's that's it that's tough stretch that's exactly right that's what he says that's about it I appreciate it like I want to know does he like does he ever show any emotion ever no does he come home ago pass the salt jeez I don't think settle down I think he stays calm because he's got you know that dark suspiciously dark hair so I would say that he's very calm like if his pizza showed up in the sauce and the cheese it slid all the way to the side does he go well get the next pizza will be better go hey this is Craig council I want another pizza delivered here I don't think he does I don't think anything about he's Craig no well I appreciate I appreciate you asking how I'm doing because Charlie is ready to go barreling in go ahead Charlie miss read the room care of course I care I'm there from 7 to 10 I don't have to deal with those two jackasses yeah never it's fine but go ahead he misread the room even though I'm in the room here's Carly Bevin Charlie it's a fair point all right gentlemen the disaster continued for the Cubs last night with another losses we've talked about as has been discussed in the past however because of MLB draft lottery rules teams like the White Sox and the A's can't pick as high as their record suggests they might so shot or no shot the Cubs should tank to guarantee a top pick and next year's draft well first of all I believe I'm right that right now the Cubs would pick fifth you're locked in those are the odds right now they haven't been at fifth and I believe I saw a 14% chance for one nine percent chance something like that can you imagine if they ended up with the number one pick and a draft Cleveland's picking one this year right yes yes they're running away at hiding a 20 sum over unless that pick is Paul Skeens then then what is it what does it matter I mean ultimately you win with stars I'm just saying this this has to be a phenom if you could slip slide your way to first it has to be like a guy you could bring up in a couple years I'm watching Ed Howard film on marquee still waiting for him to come up at some point how old is he 40 is that 40 is I was watching him he's dressed in a high school so long ago Theo was here sweet swing at Howard I like it but but cap it has to be someone special I mean we can't talk about the MLB draft the way we talk about the NBA draft and even the NHL draft NFL draft I mean it's a crapshoot unless it's someone really special so I mean you tank if you want you the reason why that you want to do that Charlie is if you just feel like okay 230 million and if Tom says okay how much money we're spending and and for my ROI I'm getting last place and a non playoff finish again okay that's enough of this they'll come out to the ballpark now we go back to the old Tribune days don't worry 40,000 people the ballpark would be in last place it's fine you don't want to go back to those days Charlie you weren't around for that you don't want to go to those places where caps aggravated on a nightly basis talking about you know 40,000 the ballpark and then no standards as a ball club those old trip I mean I feel like those old trip days they got it's it's they got the World Series and now it's well now my legacy is defined so I'm just gonna be focused only on the bottom line and not the product on the field that's what it feels like Rickens doesn't feel that way you last cap cap does you think that Rickens is satisfied saying that the coffers are open and we got multiple revenue streams so we're good like the old Tribune days I don't think so absolutely not absolutely not first of all I truly believe and people out there be like he doesn't want to spend any money that's not true they are at 227 million I read this to you guys yesterday and I won't go through the whole deal but I pulled this up the other day from my guy Joe at obvious shirts he listed the standings job just to our division not all the baseball Milwaukee's in first 108 million payroll St. Louis and second 175 Pittsburgh and third 84 million Cincinnati in fourth 103 million Chicago Cubs dead last two hundred and twenty seven million dollars they are far in a way the big spender and they're the worst team von Tom stop telling like Tom's too nice he feels like he has to educate people well the TV deal is in this and we got this issue with revenue and we're trying to do this he needs to speak the truth I gave them 227 million and they squandered it and you're telling me I'm cheap stick it because it's not true could he spend more sure but why should he have a demonstrated they're gonna do anything with it here's Charlie Bevins all right all all signs pointed to Rosen on his way out the door for the Bulls tomorrow I think you could say was an instantly transformative player here in Chicago give him a shot in the arm hit some really big shots but there was also no real playoff success and you could argue that his contributions in that 22 run went a long way of the Bulls locking themselves into Zach Levine who they now can't get off of shot or no shot the durosan experience wasn't worth it now that that's a no shot because you had to me a solid veteran in the room Charlie that gave you his all look you can go through the numbers and say well with durosan it you can't use him because he's only a two-point shot guy doesn't shoot well from three or doesn't even tempt threes enough in today's basketball but it was still buckets it was still him with his pension to get to the basket I liked him being on this team and I know he has won a championship yet but look at all the places that he's been from Toronto San Antonio from that mistake as well he's always been a good glue guy good locker room guy good glue guy it wasn't like he was a gross underachiever you want to say that about Vusovich we can have that argument but I always thought that durosan was just a solid player for this Bulls team it's a guy you'd have to worry about you worried about Levine and his shooting prowess at times hot and cold for him but with durosan kept always thought always thought that he for the most part studied the waters authentively for the Bulls look he came in and played the game the right way he embraced our city he is active in community stuff here he has talked openly about how much he loved being a bull like ownership like management love the coach like he said all the right things they let him down man they never made a move to try and improve this team and they can tell me all they want they did what was that drafting dayland Terry Julian Phillips come on now we had a better chance with Wilson Phillips I mean it's ridiculous that they do nothing to improve this freaking roster and you got a guy selling out trying to help playing every night 38 40 minutes every night and they did nothing to try and take that roster to the next level and all Bulls fans are just trying to hold on for one more day exactly right I always thought with the Rosen like I very much appreciated the Bulls looking at the landscape of things and being like you know what we're tired of being the 11th 11th seat in the East every year like let's go be good let's go get better I just my whole thing comes back to like we always kind of knew what the ceiling was and it maybe it was a failure around de Rosen more so than it was a failure of de Rosen I just always had a little bit of a tough time wondering what the eventual ceiling would have been for a team where your best player is de Rosen don't you know these get changed they can go your way if you hold on one more day can you hold on another one more day things will go your way hold on for one more day thank you Jerry drop all right so tomorrow is the 4th July and one of the newer I think one of the newer developments we've seen a little bit more on social media I know there's pain but you hold on for one more day beautiful Jerry make free from the chains yeah I know there's pain but you hold on yeah but one more day break free and break free from the chains yeah hold on for one of them here's Charlie Bevin but concerns about fireworks I think the last you know 10 15 years on social media have been coming up a lot a lot of people you know at a certain point it's 10 o'clock let's go home people have dogs people have issues with the fireworks a shot or no shot there should be a cut-off time for fireworks ideally in a little small town but at Chicago what do you mean by a cut-off time like ten o'clock in your in your neighborhood and you're like no no more fireworks people got to work tomorrow people got to go to bed dogs you sound 80 years old and you're one of the youngest guys in the roster here that's unbelievable that's embarrassing Charlie you're better you're one of the young up-and-coming stars of the station Charlie Charlie you're gonna have your own show soon okay I've been hearing I've been I heard the the air checks you so you are you have gonna have your own show are you gonna really get on the air get it get behind one of these microphones and say the fireworks it should be cut off at 10 I think it's too late I don't know if it's too late but sometimes you know I'm like all right like I got stuff to do tomorrow let's let's wrap this up so they have a little too curmudgy knee so so they need to adjust their fireworks schedule for you yeah I'm not alone right like there's other people got stuff going on on the fifth how long you live in Chicago I've been here five six years I mean like even when I was a kid growing up I remember being like eight or nine years old and being like hey it's a little loud like we ha ha ha what the hell are we doing here Charlie you're embarrassing that's just unbelievable yeah I thought you said fireworks are overrated cap that has nothing to do with that I don't put a time limit on it I do think they're overrated look I've been hearing them since January in on the south side well wait a minute that's not fireworks but but the point is though is that I've been hearing sounds I mean you could just tell because I'm I'm in South Shore you know they're going right over to the Indiana border they're going over to Jircos in that area and bring the fireworks over to Chicago cap actually I've been hearing fireworks since Memorial Day because it because those places are open or they can you can get them on Amazon whatever and I've been hearing them in my alley for months now yeah so it's just you know what it just part of the aesthetics of living in the city I'm just used to sound that is I just am I love seeing them I don't love hearing them what are you gonna do about you're gonna you're gonna go on the street tell them to stop yeah I know there's no that I'll just march down to Springfield demand it oh yeah cuz that will work yeah do that cab that's good that in the land of Lincoln here comes Charlie Bevins with his democracy could you guys turn down the fireworks please yeah so my dogs well Stanley doesn't care but Sparky does not like fireworks the late Yoshi he did not like fireworks as well but yeah last two nights ago that it was like somebody had an AK-40 I mean it was like they had a whole thing it just a lit it one time and it went for like 30 seconds I thought my poor dog was gonna drop oh man like there's got to be some air like the pro shows I don't care what time they do it at yeah but the ones in someone's backyard that's different that's kind of what I mean though cap is like again like if you're going down to the lake and you see the huge ones from you know across across the other side of the lake you want to see those that's completely different I'm talking about like again what you're referring to the the little package you get and then you're just lighting them off in your backyard all night well I just like for you to go yard to yard and tell them here's a Roman candle instead here's a sparkler here's a sparkler to see that I must see how that works in the city go ahead burn my hand really bad on a sparkler one year mm-hmm and that's why he's anti-firework that's what I because he doesn't want it at a certain time that's unbelievable this guy I didn't know that this the sit-in for for Shae is actually older than Shay cuz Shae's 70 he's 70 so we got an 80 year old now and Charlie Bevins it's amazing young spry Charlie Bevins hey it's 10 o'clock why don't you go home get some oval teen sit down read a book old teen why isn't around teen hey do you know where your kids are hey why are Roman candle I'm Charlie Bevins unbelievable I mean it's what it is cap we always say on this show you can't fight city Hall right correct well you can't fight you can make make people you know stop shooting fireworks especially in the city why don't you come south I know you have you been a museum with scientists have you been south you haven't been south since you've been here I have you I'll have you I don't mean like I don't mean the socks yeah he walked down to the end of state street it right now Charlie why don't you ride with me hi thought you just ride with me I like it for you to see you let's go to Brownsville let's go through their fireworks drop them off hoodie there you go hey Charlie here's 78 and Green get out let's see how that works go where I go just hang out you know jerk chicken places have fun how about go to go with Jaymore after the show go out west trip drop them off drop them off someplace friendly Jaymore so he could tell him this cut the fireworks off at 10 you know that happening I was around the NFL next up Captain Jayhood follow Chicago's home for sports on twitch ESPN 1000 Chicago Captain Jayhood are back on Chicago's home for sports ESPN Chicago it both sucks he sucks I'm just a fan I'm not a football I love the Green Bay Packers the guy is wrong but there he goes this is not Detroit man this is the Super Bowl when he starts the comedy this is a really thickly built guy I mean what's the answer you're looking for on these things it's time to go around it NFL on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app will have won along for Waddle Wednesday at 835 around the NFL here's hang on I got two pieces of news for you better be good for you to interrupt that great toss to Charlie but go ahead and if it's bad $10 fine go ahead LeBron James has just agreed to a two-year deal with the Los Angeles Lakers as I told you but now Claus is coming it's a player option in year two and his son Bryce who's supposedly the better of the kids said they said is he waiting to play with you too he said the dude's gonna be 42 years old by that point no he won't still be around so we'll see how much longer he's gonna play that's one and number two everything I keep here and out of 10 60 West Addison is nobody's making any trades yet except Aaron Savali just got traded by the race to provide depth to the Brewers rotation that's pretty good kid prospect for Aaron Savali he's not having the best year but guess what you take him out of a losing situation and Tampa put him on a team running away and hiding in the division with good defense good offense behind him a great vibe and guess what I'll bet you pitch as well damn with more around the NFL here's Charlie Bevin all right gentlemen so pro football focus release of its position group rankings and that included its secondary rankings do you want to guess where PFF range the Bears it better be number one because I get the best flip and secondary in the league Jayla Johnson Tyreke Stevenson Terrell Smith Kyler Gordon Jaquan Brisker and my guy Kevin Beyer that's the best in the league because you asked it that way Charlie it sounds like they're in the top five they're 19 they're very low next not gonna listen like that whoa whoa whoa that's not possible you had to have read it wrong there's no way they have the 19th ranked secondary it said they they had their ups and downs in 23 as it's safe to join Brisker but this unit could be extremely good in 2024 if it plays to its high-end abilities it had like this is just a little insane to me they're behind Houston Las Vegas oh no I Tennessee I mean it's no that's word numbers live brother that's not right but are you saying that there was it's gonna be this dramatic drop-off because Eddie Jackson's off the team that you did to have their ups and downs more ups than downs I would say that's a strength the team along with the linebackers last year yet 19th is its bottom it's bottom half like that's crazy to me and that's where you know I mean it reminds me of one council the other day was talking about the third beat the third base coach and he said well our analytics say that he's actually making good decisions no sure I think your analytics might be a little bit wrong then if if you're getting good decisions if you're getting bears are the 19th best secondary I'm not a big call out the analytics kind of person but 19 is crazy to me crazy 19 yeah that's just stupid they mean that every time they do something like that it just tells you PFF doesn't know what they're doing at times here's Charlie telling the truth okay so the hard knocks off season with the New York Giants began last night and there was a few revelations on how their off season went last year including how sort of the seeds of the Brian Burns trade came together one of the a senior ball practice I believe it was they were talking the Giants GM Joe Shane and the Panthers GM and he basically just asked like hey what's it gonna cost for Brian Burns and the Panthers GM said we have two firsts and that's how it started if we're getting stuff like that like this is just how trades come together sometimes it's just out of a casual conversation and off season event if that's what we're getting I might actually watch this because I'm not a big hard knocks guy but that stuff's interesting to me that's how Kappa and I talk about trades think so I guess I mean we casually have conversation what do you think it would cost for this and you say well you know to first or a player in a first we talk about the if it's that casual I'm sure it is between GM's down and it seems like a casual conversation there and it let's start the ball rolling right yeah and then they call back are you serious come on let's try and nail this down and then they okay I'll move off the two first but I need a first a second a future third yeah they figure out a way to do it that's what's crazy about the NFL to me and that's what I hope hard knocks off-season shows is that the biggest decisions happening are happening in like a bar or just some guy hey what's going on I haven't seen you in a while hey what's going on here and then that's just how these league or like these earth shifting trades and contracts happen all that stuff is just fascinating to me you write down on a napkin the bar napkin that's how you do it and just like what does that look like on paper you don't have paper in front of you but you have a napkin and write it down say what if we did this it happens it was that story you just told us cap I will honestly there's a couple days ago about one person bringing two sides together for a three way deal that was when the Cubs did the deal for no Margarcy Apara and Theo confirmed it for me because I had heard it from Henry and apparently so there's a conference call there's like two minutes left to the deadline and MLB does not mess around on the deadline sorry your facts came in too late your email or whatever it is and Theo said yeah Henry said everybody quite down here's what we're gonna do all right Theo you're getting Orlando Cabrera I'm getting no mar but we're not positive he's healthy and I think it was Montreal is getting whoever they got the Cubs gave up to prospects and so did that Boston Red Sox and Theo and then he said but Theo I don't know if no mar's hand is healthy so I've got to get something else and they had like a minute left in one of his scouts said as for Matt Merton and he said Jim did no Matt Merton from a hole in the ground all right give me Matt Merton all right you can have Matt Merton and that's how the deal finally got done Henry put all the pieces together for everybody and they called it sometimes that's how it works yeah yeah Charlie can you squeeze one more because we got Tommy coming up next absolutely so a former Jets employee is suing the team over a throwback logo that he designed that the Jets are now using he designed it in 1978 it was used by the Jets for 20 years the team acknowledged that this guy designed the logo but he's now suing them and he's he's he's asking for unspecified damages the use of his design was initially received in a positive light by him he's it was mentioned on the team website he said it was very like nice to see I don't you know based on what we know I maybe have two words that come to mind rents due because I don't let's do that drop really copy of you were saying yeah I it just it's this stuff is like so crazy to me like he he the Jets for the first time basically ever are probably on the right side of a PR issue mmm I that those are the first two words that came to mind rents do like this guy is suing because they're using this design when he previously said go ahead and use the design I think it's really cool they use the design again this is what we what I what I read on the NFL's website yeah I don't know some little fishy about it do they have it in writing well they like all that stuff they making it was posted on the website and he's saying that he didn't get any credit for it back in the end cap stays you just spit in your hand and you shake the hand that's just like a blood oath back then yeah that's it where you just a little cut near in your palm oh and you let the blood tell oh my god sure it's a great way to get really sick well everyone had scurvy or rickets or some kind of disease back then so they all carried it together back then charlie that was a good old days he should if they were using it unless they have something that he signed that you can have it they should compensate you remember the guy that sued sears cuddy sears in a book guy made a guy made a wrench and he said this good this can be amazing it's called the bionic wrench and sears call and that thing is awesome we'd like to carry it they gave him some small amount of money and it was in his opinion when the understand it thing ever takes up they'll take care of him they didn't he sued the end of getting millions serious loss never that I do remember that yes I do call that they thought well we have more money than anybody you're not going to be able to hang out with us legally yeah he did he sears is like it surely it can't get any worst for us we'll be around forever yeah exactly whoops robot dropped off there and then sears dropped off and then there's no sears or roebuck sad you got to take care of your business it's the same thing they happen with Sierra missed that's why it's no more because they didn't renew their trademark and a social media person took the name Sierra missed and they tried to buy it from her and it she didn't want to sell it so now they have a starry wow so wait that's the same pop yes yeah and I didn't know I didn't know there was a story behind it I didn't know this Yara had her own pop and that is our look around the NFL right here on cap and G. It's Sierra with an S. Oh Waddle Wednesday is right around the corners we talked to Tommy right here on Cap and J. Let's go Tommy Tom Waddle Tom Waddle former wide receiver for a Chicago Bears 1989 all Madden team and afternoon co-host on ESPN Chicago I think he's going to start at least eight games in the National Football League next year for a team that's going to give him a chance it's wild Wednesday with Tom Waddle listen I got a pedicure in an hour but I get back here the wheels better be spinning all right on cap and G. ESPN Chicago it's a cap and J. Good morning show on ESPN 1000 and streaming of the ESPN Chicago app it's a Waddle Wednesday here on the cap and J. Good show and Tommy's on the hotline that means the car X tire on a hotline rattle rattle thunder batter boom boom boom you feel good morning Tommy how are you I'm good I missed you guys all of you I missed you guys yeah we missed you Tommy you miss you Tom that was so insincere from UCAP I don't I don't actually hold on a second did I not call you last night after your show just to tell you welcome back from Hawaii yes you did you did and you sounded very sincere then I just say in this morning you don't sound as sincere because it's off my radar screen I already did it Tommy are you at you in the the the deep woods of of somewhere in Wisconsin right now I am he is and boy that his voice is just shot I mean he's just got Flem throat he's got wine throat it has been bad today in the first time well not just that not just that Jonathan but when you're cheering for the Chicago Rockies every night this is exactly what this is oh no you're better than oh yes no I'm not a be neither is your baseball team oh my god we suck yeah yes yes cap you do suck there's no question about it that ball club isn't very good did it get your did it get your seat top last night when when when say I hit that home run and you're down to in the night but no out I would sit with having dinner with my son-in-law and I would be I looked at him they go well you know the the Philly just got serious this will go bang bang bang and this will be over and what happened to you Bing bang but it's funny because we were playing Singapore Gin as a family what and we're sitting at the table and the TV that's illegal in most states isn't it captain isn't that mostly that maybe not in Wisconsin but in Illinois that be legal yeah so we're playing cards the six of us and I have the game on right there and say it cranks when I jump out of my chair fortune I can't help myself I go get out of here get out of here yeah we go three-run homerun Mindy tape that and she literally like your son-in-law or you to him she turned to me she's like okay it'll be over in like a minute just stop like just like just like what happened later in the night right I was happy he's not talking about that never mind I know that I was with him for ten years I know okay well grace by the way why are you screening take that at your wife who's also my cubs fan because she's the most negative cubs fan I'm not I'm a usually the eternal optimist she is first of all we we write down the record her and I and like four friends of ours at the start of the year whoever comes closest gets dinner from the others have to buy dinner sounds like a swinger if I had Jonathan yep pineapples a plenty on the porch and so I picked the cubs at 87 wins that's not gonna go well Mindy was under 500 and I said okay you have no idea what you're doing and of course I have to keep hearing about it on a daily basis hey did they win tonight to get closer to 87 it's like a daily thing with her yeah well she's the smart one and a half it's off but I want to change the topic of course because hoodie and I told you in the end they'll bet be back in Arlington Heights do you feel like now that the Arlington Heights people have come out and said yep we're in a way the quote from the mayor we're in a way better place than we were several months ago and we've worked out what we think is fair as we the quote is we've worked very hard to come to an agreement with the school districts that I think the Bears could be comfort with and that's been communicated and we're in a much better place than we were over the past few months and I think the road is gonna be much easier would you now feel like paradise in Arlington Heights is much more of a realistic possibility well let me ask you this because like when I'm not working I completely tune out so I took out the trash I did some laundry I have not read anything or heard anything was this something new that came out today or is this just while you were in Hawaii I wasn't in Hawaii I told you that last night it was in South Carolina there's a big difference guys just go with the bit okay okay it was all over the radio here here's the deal I've all and I've been consistent with my belief that or my my preference that I would prefer to be in Arlington Heights selfishly I just think it makes the most sense yes cap as you you use the phrase or or the kind of the the name I've attached to it which is paradise yeah I just think about what you could build there and just how 12 months a year it could be a place it could be a destination so I still believe in having driven by they are going to different remote broadcast that times I keep saying it to Sylvia and Demelor and the Tyler all the time every time I pass it go guys this is such a magnificent piece of land and it feels like it'd be so easy to get to they could do great things here that's my preference and I thought initially that's where they would end up and then they hired Kevin Warren to be their present and I'm telling you guys this is not to me this is my own opinion this has not been a a leverage play I don't think the tax issue with the school district is an issue that is an enormous hurdle I said all along I think that they could come to an agreement there lickety split it's not about that Kevin Warren wants to build this stadium on the lakefront and he's made no bones about it that's where he sees it and he's not going to take no for an answer that's my personal perspective so I don't believe cap and Jonathan that this is some sort of game of poker or game of chicken here I think until they get a an absolute no downtown that's where it's going to be I just don't know that because of all of the friction and all the barriers that Kevin Warren's going to be able to you know make that dream come true but I've always preferred Arlington Heights as a fan Tommy I just think that Kevin Warren was not prepared for the blast furnace to the face of politics that comes what being in Chicago like Minneapolis St. Paul I think a different you know capital fish but dealing with the friends of the park and dealing with them you know City Hall and all that I don't think he he thought it would be easy and by the way I understand where Kevin Warren is talking about I don't think it's politics when he says I love the idea of it staying in Chicago beautiful lakefront I love Chicago all that but I think he is even he has come to realization amen it's gonna have to be launched in Heights because Chicago doesn't have the space or the amenities for me to be able to build here and put a shovel in the ground and that's why Arnton Heights makes more sense to me because when you have friends the park stronger than City Hall stronger than the mayor's office then you might as well have paradise I think that makes more sense I think you're spot on with with the issue the political issue and I think he's intimated that to some to a certain degree I still John then I'm still not in your camp with regard to him giving up on on I think he's still firmly entrenched I'm building this downtown Chicago believes that there will still be a way I'm with you I think it's a great point in in Minnesota the state legislature or the state legislators worked with the city legislators and a much more cohesive we're on the same page way from what I understand I'm with you a hundred percent I don't think he had any idea that the people in Springfield and the people in Chicago basically don't work together and that has been an enormous hurdle for him and and the best I also believe though like look and I agree with you at this point I can't see a path to victory for them to keep the field the stadium on the lakefront I just can't I mean unless guys they decide to pick up an enormous portion and an even larger portion of the cost so instead of kicking in two and a half billion maybe they pay for eighty five percent of it but then Jonathan as you mentioned that that doesn't address the friends of the park the people that don't want it there regardless of how much of the the price tag the bears pick up so you know I know the other thing is guys is Kevin Warren's made it quite clear that the kindness of the essence because every year you put this up it's another extra hundred and fifty two hundred million dollars so I don't know it seems and here's the other thing guys okay and I mentioned this yesterday on our show I don't know how closely you guys have followed the NFL anti-trust lawsuit that went against them we talked about it with your co yesterday and cross-talking Johnny thinks maybe that this ultimately may get thrown out if it doesn't there's a possibility that the NFL owners could be on the hook for 14 and a half billion dollars because of the violation of the anti-trust suit that comes to about four hundred and fifty million per owner now again that means that all the appeals will have to fail and ultimately that the courts rule at the end of the day fully against the NFL how many NFL owners have four hundred fifty million dollars liquid to make make good on that that liability or or that obligation and how would that muddy the waters with regard to trying to get a stadium built like again I don't know what the end result would be but there is a possibility and a fairly strong one that that they could be on the hook the owners for 14 and a half bill which is about a half bill each and if that's the case and we got to take a break but that's the case Tommy and John that could mean that Caleb Williams never plays in the new stadium we'll continue this discussion we'll be right back Tommy wattle on a wattle Wednesday on cap and Jhood be right back follow Chicago's home for sports on Twitter at ESPN 1000 cap and Jhood are back on ESPN Chicago Chicago's home for sports so wattle Wednesday on the cap and Jhood morning show and Tommy's with us back from South Carolina okay a lot of sunlight golf okay beautiful South Carolina sack South Kakalaki okay cap right here on the cap and Jhood morning show Charlie could you give Tommy the stats that you gave us for around the NFL I just want to see if Tommy would agree with what you put out there yeah so pro football focus ranked the the secondaries in the NFL they ranked a bunch of position groups and they ranked the secondaries the bears who which we all feel very good about they ranked their secondary 19th in yeah that's course crap we yeah that's that's garbage that that's that's that's look I think they've done a better job over the course of time kind of upgrading how they evaluate different things I think I think if I'm not mistaken pro football focus may not have Paul Anderson or he did at a time as an offensive line coach for the Bengals for a while that I think they brought in isn't pro football focus the one Jonathan the Collins worth owns yes correct yeah so I think that they they brought in some guys that really know what they're looking at when they give out grades but I don't think Charlie was this a projection for 2024 is this looking back on 2023 I mean this group tied I think the 40 Niners for most interceptions or they were second to the Niners for most interception now seven or eight of them came from their linebackers as well but yeah I mean that that's a top 10 secondary in my world and that's being you know conservative they could be top five or six in my world and I saw Jonathan that the other ranking was they had the offensive line at 11 and get the F out of here come on guys you think Collinsworth gets the PDF to look it over as a guy's I don't know if this is right I don't I like to know what's if Collinsworth looks it over and says maybe we should move this up what are you know what are the parameters why would you have the bare secondary yeah they had their ups and downs but more ups than downs it's this is one of the strengths of the team defensively yeah no questions where would you have the offensive line what's that where would you have the offensive line I if you told me they were for they were 15 16 17 right now dead middle like look I think I think is many I don't want to ignite the fireworks here the day before 4th of July but anyway if you get a quarterback who plays the position a little more feel he can help out an offensive line and I think as many times as we saw Justin do magnificent things I think there were moments where he put his line in in precarious situations which are ultimately would lead to them not looking great I think if Caleb can step in and play the position with a little better feel he'll automatically help that line but cap look I thought that that that your left tackle was was very average last year was coming off of an injury Kevin Jenkins when available is very good your center was a disaster your right guard at times was good but really wasn't reliable as well and your your right tackle was really good as a rookie but as the season went on a little bit I think some of the injuries he was dealing with and I give him a ton of credit for playing through them like he's he's not a pressure on yet so if I look at them collectively I'm middle of the pack I think would be would be you know more than generous USA today did the rankings in June they have Chicago at 16 for the offensive line for the offensive line yes yeah that makes sense to me doesn't it make number one the Detroit Lions fair then Atlanta Philadelphia Cleveland Kansas City the Jets and Green Bay so yeah I'm not so sure about it I couldn't give you details of each of the teams but I don't think look though guys I think that's a group that could really take a step forward this year if everything does fall into place if Jenkins stays healthy for the majority of the time they secure the center spot Nate Davis has a better 24 than 23 darn Elle Wright continues to grow and Braxton Jones is healthy I think there's a tremendous amount of room for improvement but you know I'm in Missouri right now I'm gonna show me stay you guys show me you're you're actually Illinois you're no right I am I just want to make sure because sometimes you don't know you were hitting it a lot so Tommy what is the quintessential food for you for the 4th of July oh wow whatever grill food that it is like burgers it will stake on the grill some chickens some some Italian sausage you know it's mixed grill I would say I would say yeah hood I've made burgers for hoodie before oh my god like a great great burger takes time after there's certain tips you have to have or the burgers dry and it's just a waste don't burn that thing no exactly right for what thing that burger oh yes yeah blow away you also don't ever take the spatula and press it down so all the unless you're making smash burgers on the like a flat grill but on like a charcoal grill never push the burger down so all the juice gets out of it you get this dried hockey puck yeah and then you burn your eyebrows too because when that that grief hits the fire you about to go into trouble no I'm with you I think anything on the grill is great from and of course some cold beverages like listen let's listen here old no walking whatever coming to coolers like man and then after dinner sit back with a nice big five fingers a scotch you know it's funny I did my my best George Thurgood imitation the other day I started with a beer I was painting a bathroom in my basement mm-hmm started with a beer one beer then I had a scotch because I was I felt like I accomplished something and then I had a couple glasses of wine at dinner so like I was not one bourbon one scotch one beer I was I was one beer one scotch two wines I think there's a kinky video of that on YouTube I have to check that out yeah well wow I don't think you can get to that on our computers at the office Jonathan don't get to two girls two scotches one cup no okay oh wow yes we can't do that I have no idea which you are talking about sir we will send that over so it's right right now as a matter of fact you have a wonderful Fourth of July sir you guys as well thanks great great to join you again I missed you guys we missed you Tommy it's a highlight of our week wattle Wednesdays
