So that's the update, folks. I know people were waiting on pins and needles and needles and pins. It's a happy man at Grims when I was bag. Then he smiles. (laughs) - That's like this. - So there you have it. As we talk to you about the Bulls here on the Cap and Jhood Morning Show on ESPN1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. - Maras Buzellas is the newest Chicago bull. - I like this pick. Now he did not shoot the ball well in the G League, but he's super skinny. He's got, made three calls last night, the three guys that scouted him and said, "Work ethic, outstanding. "Person, outstanding. "Gotta learn to shoot the ball better." Now, our tourists said last night that they believe that players as they get stronger and get to the league become better shooters automatically because you're not worried about, "I gotta do my homework, I gotta go to this." And I've got, it's ball. It's all ball. Ball and weights, weights and ball. And they've got a great player, development guy in Peter Patton, great. And so, hopefully that's true. But he's not gonna take the league by storm next year and lead you to 57 wins either. - So, Buzzellus is from Hinsdale, Illinois. He went to Hinsdale Central as a freshman. He did not play varsity high school basketball at Hinsdale Central. He went to a couple of prep schools and he ends up at G League Ignite, which has been shut down by the NBA, by the way. - And the reason he did not play at Hinsdale is 'cause of COVID. And then he left and went to prep school, as you said. - G League Ignite was shut down by the NBA. And by the way, he feels like it's disrespectful that the NBA shut down the G League. You mentioned that in several interviews. Average 14.3 points a game, two assists, 2.1 turnovers, shot 27% from three. That's poor. Talk to two coaches in the G League and in the G League Ignite program. - That's now folded. - Right. - Or the league didn't fall just the team did, right? Am I right there? - The program is shut down. - Right, but the G League Ignite-- - G League itself will continue without them. - Of course. - Got it. - Of course. As the message came to me, the league sun set the G League Ignite. Haven't heard that phrase before. They sun set the league. - That's a good line. - That'll be all. Now we would say shuttered or closed down. They sun set the league, the G League Ignite. Talk, as I was saying, I talked to two coaches in G League Ignite about this young man, Boozellus. And what I was told is, is that he got better defensively with his lateral quickness. Still needs to shoot the ball a lot better. And so it was very brief, but that's exactly what I was told last night during the draft about this young man. It's about athleticism and skill. He has both of those things. And so if you take a look at, I don't know, like seven mock drafts as I have over the last week or so, Boozellus could have went one or he could have went six. So this is the reason why many people are saying that this is a steal for the Bulls because many people looked at his skill set and said at his size and his development and his pension to shoot the ball from the outside, he could have been a number one pick or could have been anywhere between one and seven. - Reportedly, the Bulls had a number one on their board and their mock drafts that they do internally. They did not have a scenario where he'd be there. - His own comps cap, not the comps online here. Boozellus's own comps. He feels like his game translates to Franz Wagner, AK-47, Andrei Keralenko, you remember him, but double player. - Double player. - Shoot the blank out of it. - Hell of a Paul player. - Yeah. - AK-47? - Yeah. - Jayden McDaniel's, you know now we've been seeing here, and Paul George. - Okay. - Wow. - Okay, thanks. - Who was this one after AK-47? - Jayden McDaniel. - Jayden McDaniel. - Okay, okay. - Can I just tell you? And this is, we could be doing this show in any NBA market, especially dealing with this draft. What it all comes down to, cap, is this is not a bust pick, this is not a great pick. It all comes down to the infrastructure of the team. And since we're in Chicago, we're talking about the Bulls. I don't know, based on the infrastructure of the Bulls, if this young man is gonna be dealing with Terry, I have no idea. - No, seriously, like you can talk to, whoever you wanna talk to, the bottom line is about the infrastructure within the Advocate Center. How will this young man start with the Winnie City Bulls? Will he make the roster? And where are you playing? This is no shot at Billy, cap. I'm talking about the infrastructure of the Bulls. How much time will he get? I have no idea, he's 19. This is a pick for down the line. - This is like draft that our high school pitcher and trying to develop them. - Okay. So where is, this is not, oh my God, how come the Bulls draft this guy? Oh my God, this guy is great. I have no idea, but it depends on the Bulls. Oh, they're gonna develop this young man? Like they develop IO? Wow, I don't, no, I'm not knocking it. I'm just saying, that's what it depends on. A lot of these guys, guys from France and guys from overseas, they're coming in in this draft. Look, they work hard to be able to get drafted and have a special night, but it depends on the team. How will their skillset, what they learn at G, League Ignite translate to the NBA? - He's gotta get so much stronger, just looking at his frame. He's got the ability to do it, but that is a tough thing to do, man. You don't just start pounding weights. - Oh, wow, no. - Don't forget, I was watching the draft. They showed a replay of this yesterday. I was watching the draft several years ago. They were at commercial. And on the bottom of the screen, it said Denver Nuggets select Nicole Yokech, sure, in the second round. He became three-time MVP. I mean, he's an amazing player. So could we get that from this kid? I mean, that's awfully pie in the sky, but people I trust who have worked this kid out, like him a lot. - But that's the G League Ignite program. Is that where you just have the freedom, just go up and down the floor to lose games? 'Cause that becomes individualistic. 'Cause by the way, you should tell the people, the one lost record for this young man. - It's not for these young men. - Well, I mean, he has all the team, I mean, this young man. - The G League and night team that was just sunsetted, they're gone. - Yeah. - They were two and 32. He's a winner though. (laughing) Now, see this is, see Shay, this is what happens. This whole scout here next to me would give all the, you know, the positive negatives, and he'd write in there, he's a winner. The ball club was two and 32. - But it's unfair because you're putting 19-year-old kids against 28-year-old men. - The kids should be able to flourish, man. - Yeah, no shots. - Come on, now, all the basketball that they played. - No shots. - Cap, that's where it is. Again, this is not, Cassie, any explosions on the kid, I'm talking about the Bulls, how they could develop this young man to be a difference maker. - It's, 'cause he's just, they've gotta be patient with this kid. - Or is he dayland Terry? - He's better than that. - We don't know that. - That's true. - We don't know. - Like he learns a worker. - You might be rude. - Or he says he works. - I think you and I are rooting for that. But it all depends on Billy's rotations and how quickly they can get this guy developed. I don't know. - They need to win like 15 games next year. So they keep their pick at another good player. Maybe win the lottery and get lucky and get Cooper Flag. He's gonna be the gem of next year's draft at this point in time. We'll see how that plays out though things can change. - Bulls draft, do we trust the Bulls to get this right? We'll hear from our tourist Connor Shelba's coming up. And there was a big basketball game in town last night. Big one. - Okay, if you want me to add that to the T's. As we talk about the Bulls draft, we talk about the big basketball game. - Yes, there might have been a future bull in that game. - Yeah. - I tell you what, there's a lot of bull in this studio and it's to my right. - Wow. - Captain J. Hood, weekday morning, seven to ten. - You're better than that. (upbeat music) - It's a Captain J. Hood morning show on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. The Bulls draft pick was in last night. Matas Luzelles from Hinsdale is now a Chicago bull. He was so emotional cap because, I mean, he grew up idolizing Derek Rose, Chicago Bulls fan. And he said, this is what all I wanted. He's a Chicago bull. So some thoughts from Luzelles talking about his, let's go to, I'm talking about being hurt and learning from his injury that he suffered. - Very proud. I worked really hard to try to stay injury-free, seeing what my body had to do, just working on certain things. But overall, the season went really well. A lot of ups and downs, but you gotta push through adversity. - It was difficult, but I look at it as, I look at it as like a blessing in disguise 'cause I got to watch the game, see the game from a different angle. Usually I'm not sitting on the bench and watching. So, having that injury, I went through a lot of things, but it made me who I am today. - I'm blessed, man. That's what I wanted. I wanted to be here. I just can't thank you to the Bulls organization. I'm ready to work, man. I was born for this. - All right, so you got that out of the way. Now, as an elite trash-starter, do you have a message for anybody that thought you couldn't be here? And if not, that's totally fine too. - I don't got to say nothing. I thanked everybody who doubted me. Thank you to everyone that doubted me 'cause I wouldn't be here without y'all. I use it as fuel. And everybody that supported me, I can't thank you enough. The support cast has been insane. So, I thank you to everyone. - Miss Ellen's definitely with a chip on her shoulder. It feels like he was, quote-unquote, disrespected and passed over in the draft. And he goes to the Bulls, and he's gonna use the negativity for fuel. - God bless. - Just get to work. Let's go. (laughing) - That's all you care about. - Just get to work. - Get to gym and get to work. Let's go. - Yeah? - Every day. Shoot a thousand shots a day. Ball handle with both hands. Every day, eat your face off and get in the weight room. It's all I care about. That's it. You're a pro now, man. You're a pro. Act like it. And I think he will. I hear he's got a great work ethic. He's got a motor. And you can't teach motor. - Well, now that the first round of draft has come and gone, Cap, I think the more interesting thing about the Bulls' conversation is what other moves will Cara Shovis make? And I know that I watched his press conference. He was, I'd never seen him with color in his face. He was just so giddy about not just the trade of Josh Giddy, not just the draft, but just he had so many things he had to catch up with because he admitted to himself to the press. Yeah, I know I don't meet with you guys very often. So let's talk about this. Wes Unsled is one of our new assistants and we got Billy Donovan the third. And I mean, he was going through the transactions. Like we look at the newspaper, like he's going through all the stuff 'cause he's like two or three weeks behind. We've been talking about what's going on in the organization. Let's see, Michael Jordan retired. We traded Scotty Pipp in Portland or Houston. Bill Jackson is leaving the organization. - So ridiculous. - Jerry Krauss, we send our 70s, he passed. - Yeah, he was so weird. - Like what? - He was going through item by item. He's just like all these coaching changes and new strength guys. It's like, hey man, if you weren't just available, you wouldn't have to go through that. You're giving us today's news from like two or three weeks ago. And so he's catching up and then finally got to like the giddy deal and finally got to the draft. It's like, oh man, so he's, and he's said again, he doubled down and we'll hear some of this that there are still going to be more changes with the Bulls. It's almost like he's broken free that he's just telling you, yeah, things are going to change around here. - Okay, what does that mean? - We'll see. - Talk is cheap. - Talk is cheap. - Our choice, Connor Shovis, in the press conference yesterday was talking about why, in the deal in which Carusa goes Oklahoma City and giddy goes to the Bulls, why the Bulls didn't get any draft picks from Oklahoma City. - I think, I mean, I feel that this deal was fair. Both sides got what they wanted, you know, what I can see accomplished, they got, you know, guard the guards and, you know, more of that. And, you know, we went with Josh who's still 21 years old and he's been very productive and we'll look into the future. So, that was the rationale behind it. - Well, I think that's a trade that, you know, we prefer it over picks because, you know, it's hard to acquire players, this young, this productive that early in their careers, especially when your already has like 11 triple doubles in this career. So, yeah, so we were just excited and we thought that that was, you know, the price. - I would say that you're dealing with a hardliner in San Presti. That's exactly who he is. I'm sure the call is very brief. Yeah, we're interested in Josh Giddy. Okay, he'll give us Alice Caruso. We would also like to have one of your 7,000 draft picks. - Nope, nope, nope. Now, you could say that Presti's a hoarder of the draft picks. Like, why are you holding onto them, right? - Right. - Would you just put a card down? Put a card down. You're just holding up the game. Nope. I got a good hand here. My 7,000 draft picks. I'm not putting a card down. And so, I'm sure it's like, hey, take it or leave it. You ready? I'll hang up. I'll hang it right now. Okay, we'll do it a deal. - Okay. - Of course, they should have had draft picks, along with that. 'Cause they got plenty to spare. But for Sam Presti, he's a no BS artist, man. He's a hardliner. - Okay, but I want to know, and I made trades on a much more minor level in the world basketball league. Not for millions of dollars. If our tourist is at the other end of the phone and he says, Sam, I'll call you back. You wait a little while, you billy bean it like in Moneyball, you call him back and just say, here's the deal. I got three other teams that are offering me really good packages. I want Josh. Give me two second rounders, we'll make it work. If you don't want to give me a first, I get it. Give me two second round picks. - And Sam Presti said, no? - Okay. - This just gonna be straight up, or I'll just go someplace else. - Okay, I'm moving them. Thanks. - Okay, but see, Sam would find a way to be able to still swing that deal, again, not give up any draft picks. He just found a guy that's on the outside of the Wheeler dealer general managers. AK is not in that circle. It's not Miami, that's not San Antonio, that's not, not even Philly. - I remember GM telling me, I think it was Henry, might've been Jim Henry, might've been Theo. I can't remember. - It was Jim. - But might've, yeah, might've been Jim. But one of them said to me, look, when you are up the track and your team has no shot and a guy who you have a good relationship with on another team calls you and says, pick a middling guy. Trade me, whoever it is. Pick a middling guy on the Cubs. - Little. - Yeah, trade me Luke Little. I need a left-handed guy. And you get very little back, nothing. He said, three years later, you're gonna call that same guy back and go, all right, you're up the track, I got a chance to win this year. I need this year's version of Luke Little. And he gives you a guy back without extracting a ton in return. He said, sometimes you don't have to kill the guy in a trade now because he'll take care of you if he's a good guy. - Yes. - All right, Jim, I got you. You need a fourth outfield, I got here, take him, go ahead. - But what allies, I'll ask you this again, what allies does AK have in the league? - I don't know. - When you've been dormant for years. - Right. - You haven't picked up the phone or you picked up the phone and just said no to everything. We like our core, we are not going to change. - He turned on multiple second round picks for Andre Drummond, who is a free agent. - Okay. - So that's why, I mean, just based on who I talk to cap, he's not a guy that's like in the middle of it all. It's like, boy, you know, watch that AK when he comes in, man, he's a Wheeler dealer. Watch him now, watch him. When you haven't picked up the phone you haven't made any deals, you're not in the circle. - Right. (laughs) - So I mean, of course they should've got a draft pick or two. - Like when Bob Myers picks up the phone. - Yes. - Someone was telling me a story yesterday that there was a three way deal when he was there and they were trying to put this thing together and Bob Myers is like, all right, everybody stop talking. Jonathan, here's what you're going to get. You're with Toronto, for example. And Shay is with Denver, and he's golden state. Okay, everybody stop talking. Here's what we're going to do. Jonathan, here's the guy you want, you're getting him. You're going to put a second round pick in the deal. The next team, Denver, Denver, you're going to do this and here's what I will do. That worked for everybody. Okay, and he put the whole trade together for all three teams. And everybody signed off. - There's a trust factor there though. - All of them trusted each other. - Yes, yes. Let's get through the red tape. Let's see, doesn't this make sense, guys? When we say it out loud, does it not make sense? Okay, let's do that. AK? Pressy said, I'll hang up the phone right now. You're not getting any of my draft picks, but we want Caruso. It solidifies our defense. You don't need him. You're not going to pay him four years, 80 million. We'll take care of him and you can have Josh Kitty. He doesn't fit with us anymore. The issues aside, he doesn't fit our scheme. We have a really good team here. He's young, we want a veteran. 'Cause we feel like we can win. We were the number one seed last year. We were number one team in the West. - Correct. - So we just need a veteran just to tighten the screws. You're in? I would like draft pick. I'll hang up the phone. Okay, let's do it. - Right. - That's what happened. - I'll win something. - You're right. - You know, it's not the heat. That's not, you know, Pat Riley or Zoh morning on the phone. - Right, Pat Riley picks up the phone. Everyone's like, okay, how are we gonna make this happen? All right, here's what happens. - I mean. - Yes. That's the truth. - 3-1-2-3-3-2-E-S-P-N-3-3-2-3-7-7-6 is our phone number. Again, to me, the draft happened, but I'm interested in finding out like what's happening with DeRozin? What's happening with Vusovich? What's happening with Levine? You know, how does the, how are the bulls looking? Are they trying to add on or are they going to tank and try to reset this thing? That's the interesting thing to me. So do we trust the bulls' organization to get this right? We'll get your thoughts as we move forward. Also still to come, some thoughts about a big basketball game taking place in Niles yesterday. We'll talk about that coming up next on Captain J-Hud. (electronic beeping) - Here's to Dave's headline, headline with Captain J-Hud. - Here's David Captain. - Thanks John, appreciate you, buddy. The reason why I cap that this is, this is tepid. The conversation about the draft is because of so much unknown in this draft. We said this coming in, we warn people like this draft here. This is not like filled with a whole bunch of college. We go back to the draft so far that we remember first round colleges. Second round, some international flavor. Now it's completely flipped. Since 1992, when the Americans just dominated international play at that time, there was a lot of demarcation where the international players said, we're not going to be dominated anymore. That was the dream team. Yes. At that point in time cap, you can draw the line and just watch the international players come in. It's like, you know what, we're going to work harder. We're going to be more fundamental. Like while you do your dunks and your highlights and your three point shots, we're going to be a solid, we're going to be solid players. And it started with Hugo Slavia, the old former Hugo Slavia. We're 20, two coach was coming over and there were a bunch of great players. And all of a sudden, what was the new flavor? The European player, fundamentally sound, guys are 6'9", 6'10". This is going to be a weird league when you have your two guard at 6'9", 6'10". That's what's coming over here. That is. - It's so straight. - And the big man is back in the game. And the big man's back. Full circle. - Good to see. Full circle. Zach Edie went ninth or eighth. Yeah, super cool, the Memphis. The one, as we get ready to talk about your coaching debut, I just want to say, I just think it's funny. This morning, when I got up, I was taking a look at the way to early grades for the draft. You look from Atlanta on down A, A, A minus B, A minus-- - Well, he's got an A minus, so one of them. - A, A, B, of players that a lot of people have not seen. A, Memphis, D. - Right, taking a second. - He's only the two-time player in the year in college. - Wait a minute, you gave all these people that you have never seen, right? Internationally, A, quality player. G League Ignite players, A, Zach Edie, restaurant quality insight, that's a D. - Oh, okay, okay, so, so, so, never mind about the hard-working big cap, the busted his ass in the big 10. That's a D, Memphis failed. - Okay. - Hey, failed. - Wow. - That's so great. - I was a cheap boy that every other draft could combine. - That's the best, D. - Speaking of basketball, my, my partner here, for the first time since 1988, puts the whistle around his neck, and he's coaching. And we've been waiting for this, this debut, and it happened yesterday. Tell us about it. What happened as we get ready to hear from Comic-9 at 750? We want to know what happened yesterday. - Kids played their tail off. - Oh, man. We talked in the huddle about swarming the ball, picking up at half court. You're not allowed to press until there's two minutes left on the game. So we talked about picking up right at half court, and if they pick up their dribble, we swarmed the ball. We call blitzing the ball. - Of course. - Oh, man. Our guys, they were fired up, man. Fired up. We only had seven of our 10, because three of them had baseball. Every Zetterman and a couple others had baseball, but oh, man, these kids weren't. And they were unselfish. Only if two, besides the rule, you have to be on time. Be ready to go when we tell you to be there at 645. It doesn't mean you come straggling in with your shoes in your hand. You're warmed up, your stretch, you're ready to go. We hit the ground, let's go. - Cap Coughlin, go ahead. - Basically. And we are going to defend, and we're gonna play unselfish. If you don't defend and you don't make the extra pass, you can come sit with me. And we just ran them in and out. Seven guys. All right, let's go. You get in, get in, get in, get in. Dude, it was awesome. Awesome. - Was the adrenaline flowing again, or was it, how did it feel? Did it feel like back in the day? - Yeah, it was great. - You had the adrenaline flowing? - It was great, never sat down. It was great. - So I would imagine that feeling, I mean, not just because you won, but the coaching was palpable, right? You could see, and this is what I taught the kids, this is the work ethic they were gonna have, and it manifests itself in the floor. It had to make you feel good. - It was all about what those kids did. They just played hard. Oh, banging on the boards. We missed like seven layups in the first half, like stick backs on rebounds. And they're frustrated. We should be up more. I said, just keep doing what you're doing. You'll start making shots. Next thing you know, I got guys steal the ball, lay it in, rebound, stick back. Yes, it was super cool. So shout out to the team. - The capitals. - The captains. - Captains. - With a K. - I didn't name it, they did. - Of course not. - Danny, I think Danny actually did. - Would you like to give a final score? Is that irrelevant right now? - That's irrelevant. - That much, huh? Wow. So, let me put it this way. You won't give me the score. If I took the over, would I be a winner? - What was the total? - Are you gonna lay the line? - Well, it's 10 year old. So, I expected it to be in the, you know, 40s. - So, the overall total in the game was 40? - Yeah. - The overhead. (laughing) - I said it at 45. - Would you say the overhead? - Just. - Uh-huh. - I see. - Hmm. - Okay. - So, going in, you're a minus four, just so you know. - We covered. (laughing) - With no problem, right? - Okay. Just checking. And so, your next game, this is kind of an, I won't say exhibition game, but it seems like that's what the score was. - Then it was our first game of the schedule. - Yeah, you know, you didn't hear what I said. It seemed like more of an exhibition game, based on the score. So, I would say that this is kind of a warm up act or what will happen in July. That'll be your next game, correct? - Correct. We played July 9 and 10. Our next two games. They were adopted in holiday. - What is the CMBA finals? - They're off to the-- - What the hell? - Fourth of July holiday. What do you want me to tell you? - Good. - That's good. That's gonna be great. Yeah, so now that you got a little taste of it, oh God, here it comes. Now you have a full compliment of players. You did that with seven players. Oh God. - We changed like hockey lines. - Uh-huh. - Let's go. - We only got that done with seven players, but you still were missing two or three, correct? - We were missing three guys. - Uh-huh. - Yeah. - Imagine what a full compliment that looks like. Set the lines early, kids. - They're missing Jack, Tommy and Avery. - Yeah. We're gonna kind of jack it up to, I think, seven or eight. We'll do that. - I don't handle the substitutions. Coach Edelman, our assistant, handles that. - Oh, okay. - I see. - He just runs a minute out. - Let's go. - Yep. - This is gonna be interesting. - Guy diving on the floor was so cool to see. - Connor McKnight will join us coming up next, as we talk about, on Captain J. Hood. Connor McKnight is with us here on Captain J. Hood, and Connor is brought to you by him. - That would be access community health at every age through every stage. How you doing, kid? - Man, I'll tell you what, just another gorge this morning. - It is. If I give you the Dodgers or the field in the National League, which one would you take? - I would, yeah. Mookie Beck coming back? Like you, well, I know you can't promise anything, hoodie, but can you say that Mookie Beck is gonna come back with a timeline that Dodgers have allowed him to come back with a broken hand on? - I would say yes. - Yeah, Dodgers, yeah. I gotta take the Dodgers. They're really, they're really good. And just watching them this week, having seen Teoska Hernandez back in just the one game, the difference in what that top three looks like, right? With Will Smith and Freddie Freeman and Shohayo Tati. No bets. Then you add Teoska Hernandez into the thing, which with the Miguel's that they get to run around the lineup, Rojas and Marcus. It's a really deep lineup, and that bullpen is very good with a chance of getting better, I think. And I really, Gavin Stone was great last night. It wasn't just a guy who's facing White Sox hitting, and that's been a very good thing for other pitchers this year. He showed a really advanced command of Sinker fastball changeup, Bix. Something that was, I don't know, maybe a little bit proto-Drew Thorpe or maybe some building blocks there for something the White Sox can maybe project in Drew Thorpe. And they're the Dodgers. So they're going to go get what they want to go get, and they're going to spend what they need to spend in order to do it. I would probably take the chance to give you the Dodgers. Yeah, I would go field, because I question their starting pitching. Now, if you tell me they're going to go add Garrett Crochet or somebody like that, okay, then it's a different story. But right now today, I take the Phillies, or I'm getting the field, so I get all those teams. Yeah, that's true. I think the college is getting ready to make a move. Yeah, I think they're ready. I think the Dodgers will probably be adding that starting pitching. I would be surprised that all if Garrett Crochet is one of the guys they're really looking at, seriously. And I think the Cubs is just getting ready to turn it around. Yeah, they just need just the bat, just one bat ought to do it. They got some kids in Triple A, right? That'll be fine. Exactly. You like you, by the way, when a general manager or a front office person says, you know what, what we're doing is not good enough. I'm sure you saw what I saw from the captain, front office person for the Texas Rangers. Yes, so the GM of the Texas Rangers said, enough's enough. That's it. And he sent, I think Ezekiel Durand down to Triple A. He made a bunch of roster moves. He said, we need a spark, and I'm not going to watch this anymore. We are underachieving, and that's enough. Yet at 1060 West Addison, they're having tea and crumpets this morning on whatever. I wouldn't like, listen, tea and crumpets are a lot higher on the breakfast brunch, you know, treat rankings that I think a lot of people allow. I think, you know what, we tossed off, listen, we tossed off the chains of the British, 1776, right? We should maybe some baby with the bath water kind of situation after we put Cornwallis back to his business, right? And I think tea and crumpets got the bag in that one. It's our anniversary today, and that's my favorite. - Man, you're just, put your feet up and just relax. You gotta unlock that thing, Captain. - You love how McKnight plays four corners in this segment, doesn't it? - I do. - It's just amazing. - You play for Dean Swiff? - Well, yeah, absolutely. You gotta draw at that clock. I mean, listen, the Rangers are a little bit different than the Cubs. I mean, they are, and I know I get that expectations were there on the north side this season, but it's different when you won the World Series, and you've got $70 billion connected in your middle infield with Segar and with Dimeon. It is different, and I get that you probably don't want to hear that, but you can't hear that. You probably don't want to hear that, but the way the Cubs wanted to build this thing was kind of out there for everybody to see. They wanted to do it on kind of like a hipster, mom-and-pop kind of plan, right? This isn't the big grocery store shipping things in from everywhere. This is like local produce and shopping at farmers' markets and making sure that your herbals are all in the right vintage. And that's, you gotta crack in that manner. And unfortunately, some of the big dollar signings they've made haven't kind of lived up to where they need to be at this point, and some of the stuff that they want to bubble up to the surface, right? They're natural, homegrown stuff. Either isn't ready yet, or they are reluctant to expose it to a little bit of MLB play. And I think all of that is kind of tent-pulled by the fact that while Pete Crow Armstrong was rated at the top of the crop in terms of their prospect system, it's mostly because he is an exceptional defensive center fielder. And if you can get him to hit at all, that makes him a very valuable player. But that hitting just hasn't been around quite. It's looked better lately. - But as the great hood drill put out there, what Chris Young, the GM said, we can't sit back and wait and hope it comes together. It's time for us to get going, time for us offensively, perform like Tina, we know it can be, we need a spark, and these guys haven't performed at the level we're expecting. - Well, sure. And if he puts his money where his mouth is, then Chris Young, the GM of the Texas Rangers, is making moves, right? To pick stuff up. It's not just Robbie Grossman, for Anthony Holyopi, Tia Nutella. It's more than that, right? He's gotta do more. So keep him to that standard. Should he make moves at the deadline like the Rangers should? Because I don't know that the Mariners are the best team in that division. The Astros are dead when they're actually out of the playoffs. They're like a horror movie villain. They're not dead until you see the body. And they're still very much alive. It's five, five hundred right now. He's gotta make moves in order to back that up. It's not just shuffling players in and out of, I think it's Round Rock, for Texas. You have to do more than that if you're gonna hold him to that standard.
