Here's David Kaplan. Still don't have it. What do you mean you still don't have it? What do you mean? I've called Air Canada 15 times. I log each call. 15 calls. And every time I call, I will add it to the record that you're, you need your bag. Yeah, great, thanks. It really helps me a lot. I called Air Canada like I was trying to book a ticket so I could get a human. And a human that is in this country. And I got because they brought call centers all over the world. I would prefer to talk to an America. Oh my God. I didn't mean it that way. They'd go right ahead. First of all, did you know that most of these reps watch it, work from home? I heard the baby crying in the background. (laughing) And the dog bark, I said, are you at home? Yes, I'm at home. Okay, tomorrow. You say the baby crying? Yes. Okay. Yes. Tomorrow is my 20th wedding anniversary. Yeah. To my beautiful wife. Yes. (baby crying) I have one of her gifts. I bought in Canada. And it's in that bag. My flight was supposed for people that don't know. Saturday, I'm flying back. Yeah. I sit in the airport for six hours. Flight gets canceled. They said they would send me an email within 30 minutes with new flight arrangements. That was Saturday. I don't have that email yet, but I'm sure it's coming. I ended up buying a ticket to get home. I bought the ticket. Yes. I call their canceled flight number of the gamey. I said, I need to get home on Sunday. I have to work on Monday. I've got stuff to go. She said, we don't have any seats. I said, that's a lie. Why? Because I booked one. I'm holding it. You are? Yeah. I end up, I'll fight with them to get paid reimbursed. $700 to get home. Way better than the first one I booked that was 1,700. I canceled that one once I booked the 700. Think about that folks, 1,700 to 700. Just think about it within three minutes. You're in peril and you're just trying to get home. The first $1,700. Economy, not first class now. Economy, wow. Booked it, put it on my credit card. Weighted like three minutes went back on, oh, flight one hour later, 700. I'll take that one. And you get 24 hours, you can cancel a flight. That's the law. Cancel the 1,700 one. Got the 700 hour one. Now I want my luggage. It's in a secured area, sir. When you land in Chicago, go to the Air Canada baggage office and they'll file a report and you'll have it within 24 hours. That was Sunday morning. Yes. It's Wednesday now. They delivered my golf clubs. My luggage with all my other stuff in it. No go. We stand on guard for the, but not for your luggage. Correct, yeah. Now my question is they proudly say that they're a partner airline of United. Uh oh. And I am a United customer. I'm premier, I fly with them. Fix it, United. You're based in Chicago. Help us out. This is insanity. It's the stupidest thing I've ever heard. And every time I make a call, I'm either told what you've called the ticketing office and we don't have access to the baggage claim or I filled out the same stupid form on their Air Canada website. It's insanity. Insanity. And every other call you make to the delayed baggage number, you're rerouted to a foreign country a long way from here. So you can tell by the baby crying and the rooster in the background that there's something going on. Yes. Here's Jay Moore. What that means is they have you on call ID. And they say, that's David Kaplan. Transfer him anywhere, exactly. Not this clown again. Tell him he's never getting his effing bags. Is this Kazakhstan? Very odd. I need to want to help me in America. Now that you have, um, summoned United, maybe you can get help now. I'm hoping that there's somebody kind from United Airlines. I'm a loyal United customer. Yes. Please. Just, I just want my bag back. That's all I ask. You know, I'm starting to think about this last couple days. I feel like sometimes somewhere in your career, maybe as recently as last four or five years, you call on someone that's Canadian. And maybe this is their comeuppance. Did you call, did you diss somebody from Canada? Never. Love Canada. Would you have something to say about matchdairs? No, I love matchdairs. There's something that's going on here. My intensity is one of my dear friends. Maybe that's the, maybe that's the connection. Maybe that's the plug. Reach out to dump. It can help you. It can help me. There's got to be somebody in the executive suite from United. Listens to the show. I know they do. You don't bash the Hawks and there's Canadians in the Hawks. They don't have a problem with you. Correct. Tough week for the Great White North, though. Just the only cup draw gets extended and they're getting bashed on Chicago radio for not bringing cap as bags. And you know what the other funny thing is that, like the comment he just made, that Canada wanted the cup back. Yeah. And I heard Edzo say this on the air to Sylvia and Jessie. Yeah. And I completely agree 'cause when I was in Canada, I asked the question. Like the Calgary fans that were at the golf tournament, they weren't rooting for Edmonton. I can promise you, the Maple Leaf fans, not rooting for Edmonton. It's not like the whole country came together and said we got to win the cup. No, the only time that you have like Civic Pride, American Pride is the Olympics or soccer. Right. No, we don't do that here. We're not going, well, I certainly hope the Panthers beat Edmonton 'cause it's America. No, no, no. At Vancouver's different than Calgary. Calgary's different from Winnipeg. Winnipeg's different from Edmonton. But Montreal's different than all of them. Toronto's different. Yeah, so no, they're not going to go. They hate each other. I watched the game on a big screen with all these Canadians. They were not rooting for Edmonton. No, no, a different province. It's kind of like us, that the Bears don't make the Super Bowl. Oh man, I'm pulling for Kansas. No, they're not from Chicago. Correct. So I get it. I mean, they would love as a country to finally bring the cup home to the country, but haven't done since '93. Correct. (laughing) That says a lot. So please, United, help a brother out here. Please. If you know-- You're a partner airline. Star Alliance, they call it. Uh-huh. Yeah. It's awfully dim star. That's in his bag. No matter if it's something with clothing or... Battery operated, doesn't matter. He just needs to be able to have it all together. So, folks, help out my partner. Please, call United, call Air Canada and say, "Where's David Kaplan's bag?" Call and help out, my friend. Thank you. Thank you, Charles. Beautiful. Where is this bag? Is it still outside the Tim Hortons and... We just said it was outside the Timmy Holes. He hasn't said this morning. Check the internet. Well, I heard you, but I haven't heard that. Hold on, I'm going to do it. I'm going to do it right now. I'm going to know if it's still sitting in Toronto. Yep. Yep. There it is. It is... 511 miles from right here. Give me about 20 minutes. I'll send it to, I'll send to Jay Hood via tweet, via tweet. Yeah, yeah. But let me put Jay on hold and you could talk to Shay about that. Shay, take care of that. Yes. I want to make sure that it's in multiple hands. Tony, hold on. Shay will take care of this. See, that's access. You see what happens, Cap? Thank you, Tony. Let me explain to you, kid, how we do this in the business. It's a call to action. You see what happened there? It wasn't me yelling and screaming. It was just me doing an appeal. You see that, Jay Moore? Quietly. That's what you learn from the church. You put on Channel 38, there's always an appeal, right? You totally number the bottom of the screen. People just give you money. In this situation, you just want to be able to just help you out with your bag. Tony calls in and helps. You see? Sitting right there next to Tim Hortons. The Timmy Hose? That's where the secure baggage area is. But you see what that appeal does, Cap? Yes. No yelling and screaming. It was just me. I don't yell and scream. Maybe once. It was enough. 15 calls was enough. Yeah, well, first of all, that's a lie that you don't yell and scream. You ever watch your recaps? I do. 3-1-2-3-3-2-E-S-P-N-3-3-2-3-7-7-6. It's our telephone number. Are the Cubs dead? Next on Cap and Jayhood. Hi, this is Janet Jackson. It's your dirty gnolli, hi. This is Cap and Jayhood on ESPN Chicago. As they continue to tour around the country. Yes. Nellie and Jay Jackson. Great concert, by the way, on Thursday. I think it was Thursday. I was there, Cap. Janet was... She still gets it done. No, I'm off Friday. That's what I thought. Anniversary tomorrow. That's what I thought. No shot. Yeah, that's what I thought. No shot. Tomorrow is gonna be... 20 years I've been married. And I told her on the first date, I'll never get married again. Yeah, I told Michelle the same thing. It's like after all this, I'm never getting married again. But he's here with italics. And five years later, I proposed, and here we are. 20 years later. Rock and roll. She's the best decision I ever made. Rollin' Stones, huh? Speaking of dead teams, the Cubs, they lose to the giants by the score of five to one. The Cubs now are 37 and 43. The Cubs, at this point in time, you could almost start to get the shovels ready and put the dirt over the top. This is not going well. No, this is not one of these things, Cap. Well, you know, just going through a little bit of a slump. Cap. Here's the reason why that I'm saying that the beginning of the end is happening with this Cubs team. Back to back games against the Giants, these are just bullpen days. Cap, bullpen days for the Giants. Correct. And you're playing like this offensively? Okay, so I want to just read you something here. I did some research. One of our fine listeners actually gave me the idea. The Los Angeles Dodgers have a bunch of really, really good arms in their bullpen. Oh boy. Yes, they do. Like Blake trying in. They just keep running guys out there that all throw hard. They're really good. The Yankees, same deal. Do you realize if you'd have kept David Ross and that signed Craig Council and taken the 40 million? That you're giving him? You could have either the Dodgers or Yankees bullpen. And you'd actually be in first place. You wouldn't have blown 17 saves. Last night, the offense awful again. Against a bullpen day for a lousy Giants club. But it's two to one. All right. Back to back nights now. Yeah. The blow the game Monday night, bullpen blows their 17th tape. Last night, it's two to one. My wife's going upstairs. It's late. And I said, huh, two to one. We're right in this thing. She said, you're never going to learn. Are you? Never. And of course, here's my other question. Sorry, I'm all over the road here. But Colton Brewer was the closer on Monday. That's correct. If they had the lead, he wasn't going to close last night because they brought him in in the eighth inning. And he got lit up again. Gave up three runs. Turned a two-one game into a five-one game. See you later. Thanks for coming. Good night, Mindy. Take that. Take that. Me just. Why did you take the 40 million you asked Tom to pay for the manager that you had to have and buy some flippin' bullpen help? Are you calling for a council this morning? You calling for a set this morning? No, I mean, I understand. Listen, he's whizzin' in the wind. He's got no chance. Not his fault. He just came here to it. With the same amount of problems that Ross had last year. Correct. And I truly believe, truly believe it. That at some point, he lost his mind. Counsel. And he went, okay. Is this what I sign up for? Colton, you go close. Let me show upper management just what we've been handed here. Because the meeting afterwards, whether Zoom or whether Jed is in San Francisco, I don't know. But the meeting last night or this morning, so you went with Colton to close it out yesterday. Yeah. Yeah, he's in our bullpen. Why? Well, I mean, just like, well, I don't understand. What's the problem? I mean, he's part of our team. And I empowered him to be in a position to try to help us and kind of slow things down against his giant's offense. And he went three runs. So now what? What do you want to talk about, Jed? What do you want to talk about? You want me to use Neris again? Yeah, we've seen enough of that. I've seen it all. So I'm not sure what the conversation's about. Because I'm sure Jed's asking. I'm sure they talk every day. Do you think he said to Jed, Jed, move away from the door there. Move your chair over. I don't want you to get hit. What do you mean? Well, I'm sure there's reinforcements coming that you've traded for. And I don't want them to come busting in the door and hit you. No reinforcements. Craig Council, here's the best 13 seconds of your day. Well, it was quite nice. I mean, we didn't, you know, I think we had three at bats with runners in scoring position. You know, that's, we didn't actually base head. So it's, you're not going to have a big night offensively with numbers like that. 11 strikeouts and three by the kid. Crow Armstrong, who is lost right now. Lost. And it's the same theme that we talk about every day, Cap. This is what happens when you're guessing wrong. The Cubs as offense are guessing wrong. How many strikeouts did you see where it's like, wow, you're going to keep swinging at the slider on the outside corner. You're just going to keep looking at strikes right down the pike going to keep doing that. I mean, that's Cubs baseball for you right now. It is unbelievable to me how lost they look offensively. How awful they're bullpeners. I truly better heard Sylvie say this yesterday. And I had said this to my wife. He's exactly right. Worst bullpen of my lifetime. And Lord knows in my life, I have seen some awful cub teams. This team has no fire, has no passion. And look, I'm more of a meathead than Craig Council, obviously. But at some point, I want to hear some passion. Well, it was a quiet night. Couldn't get anything going with the past. At some point, I want to hear him go rockstar on the locker room. Can't do that. You can't even have a losing manager say that a ball club's effing flat when it's true. Right. Criticize for a Grifall. Criticize for it. You can't say that. Why? What has he been given? It's the same situation cap in some ways. Grifall was never going to be the guy. He was an A to B manager. He'll be fired here. If he's not going to be fired, his season will end. And he will not be retained. Bottom line, he calls it out. How's he sees it? He says we're effing flat. Oh, can't say that. Now the ball club's going to turn on you. But it's true. Correct. But council, we just have to find a way to get some some runs on the board. Never had any extra base hits. He just tells you how it is. But this is the team he's been given. What can he do to get this offense started? Nothing. He's trying everything. Hey, how's your day at work today, Craig? That's great. You see, my check got direct deposited today. The rest of it sucks. And guess what? My bosses do nothing about it. And I'll ask the question again. If this was the Yankees, would they tolerate this? They would not. If this was the Dodgers, and they had a team where they thought they could compete. They would not. They would not. Would the Phillies? They would not. Would the Rangers? They would not. Okay, what about the Chicago freaking Cubs? I've been over with no Vaseline. They, they are the Settlers Part 2. Oh, well, we'll settle. We got to have internal improvement. You know what? I'm sick and freaking tired of hearing. Can't trade our prospects. And I'm a prospect guy. Yeah. Like I did. Your job, Jed, is to identify who in your system is an untouchable because we know that's the guy. And then take the other ones that are maybe overvalued by the prospect rankings and trade them before the rest of the sport figures out they aren't that good. Because not every one of them is going to make it. Whether that's Owen Casey or Cade Horton, or Pete Crow Armstrong, or Moistus Byisteros. Like they've got some highly rated guys. Figure out who isn't really as good as others. Think and deal them. And go get me some freaking help. It's embarrassing. You know what's interesting? What's going on in there? Like again with this damn window. Oh, they shut it down on you. Okay, I was wondering why it was dark in there. The, uh, there's like a, uh, the shade, an automatic shade that comes down. And they can't control it. And it came down and kind of has them locked in there. And it's dark. Every time this happens, I feel like I'm putting a solitary confinement. No, could you see the memo? Air Canada is running this building now. I was going to turn to Shay about something about this series. And all of a sudden, I don't see anybody in there. It was dark. Dude, I hate this window here, man. I really, when this shade comes down. Oh, I was going to say, Cap, it only takes five runs to beat the Cubs. You lost to the, to the Met five to two. You lost five to four and five to one. It only takes five runs to beat the Cubs. That's how bad things are. That's what I was going to say. Last night, it only took two. I get the bullpen's bad, but wouldn't it matter? You get reinforcements. Last night, it wouldn't have mattered. Let me just make sure this is very clear for everybody, Cap. The reason why that this season is upside down for the Cubs, it's very unusual. Because you and I have seen plenty of baseball in this city growing up here. I've never seen a starting rotation that's solid enough to keep you in ball games, but an offense that's lousy and a bullpen that's lousy. Only one third of the equation works for the team, and that's starting pitching. That's very strange. Usually, okay, well, the whole pitching staff is underwater, or like the White Sox, young, inexperienced. You throw them out there, flex in, throw us a bit, okay. But it's very unusual for the Cubs to have good enough starting pitching to keep you in games, but a bullpen that can't hold it, and an offense that doesn't hit. Now, that's new. Unless you can come up with another year that was like that. That's new. Totally new. And there are certain people, one of whom named Shay, wanted a DFA, Kyle Hendricks. Well. And I remember arguing with him, let him try and fix what's going on here in the bullpen. What happens when he does it work? Guess what? I think he went seven innings, 102 pitches last night. It was amazing. He was outstanding. The previous start before that, he was outstanding. Yeah, it was there when he had a no hitter into the sixth against the Giants. Five and two thirds. It's been great. You tip your cap, but I was doing radio on April or May, whatever, and he had a 12 and a half ERA. My apologies. Didn't have the crystal ball. And not ask you to have a crystal ball. It's not ready, shoot, aim. You got to think through things. What? Let's see if we can fix it. Not just DFA, those three letters. Like that's like the average go-to on social media. DFA this guy, DFA that guy. Oh my god. Stop. I understand. But he turned the clock back last night. He was great. I can't guarantee you, you get a seven strong, you know, and give up two runs for the rest of the season. But when you needed someone to say, I'll do it. I'll step it up. Yeah, but I'll help. Tim Lynch, who came with pitching last night, right? You got one, two sides for them. He was not there. It's a fricking bullpen night. They just kept running guys out there. And our guys just feebly at the plate, impotent. It is a scuffle. And I always talk about the scout cap. Are you paying attention to what they're saying? Like, I know that because I've actually been privy to this several times cap, the guy comes through the hitting coach, goes through, okay, this guy throws this. And this guy throws that. All right, get out. This guy throws this. I've seen this. Here's the, here's the film. It's going to be running on a loop. Just watch these guys. And they're just flailing and they're just missing. They have no idea what's coming. Yeah, and again, do I think counsel has been perfect? No, no manager is. This isn't his fault. This is the fault of his bosses who gave him a lousy bullpen that short-circuited a really good start. And now the wheels have come off. All right, we'll take your phone calls coming up. You've heard our thoughts. What about your thoughts on the Cubs? We stayed up so that way you wouldn't have to. The Cubs lose again in a series I thought they could win against the Giants. Now the best they could do is split. And by the way, the starter for the Cubs tonight was Neskey. 3-1-2-3-3-2-E-S-P-1-3-3-2-3-7-7-7-6, it's our telephone. Well, Homer Parlay, you might get rich. Are you giving up hope on the Cubs season? I believe you could start cranking the box down, the old wooden box cap. You start cranking it down into the ground. Let's go. The casket is lowering. On the Cubs. That's it. Can't we anybody like to sprinkle dirt? Seriously. Come up and get the shovel. Starting it, starting to happen. Let's get your thoughts on it on cap and J-hood. Here's to Dave's headline, headline with cap and J-hood. Cubs lost again last night to the Giants in San Francisco. 5-1 is six different Giants pitchers. That joke combined to allow just four hits on the night for the Cubs. Matt Chapman broke things up with a two-run single and a three-run. Eighth for the Giants. Cubs 37 and 43 play game three of the four-game series tonight at 8-45. White Sox lost their second straight to the Dodgers at home for three. Show hey. Oh, Tani. Homered in the game and two RBIs. Led the NL now with 24 home runs on the season. This was the White Sox 60 loss of the season. They'll wrap up the series. What are you laughing at? Because our baseball teams are so pathetic. I don't think we could put a postseason team together if we put them both together. You're a chuckle for the Cubs, but the Sox. Well, the Cubs they threw up. They'll wrap up the series with the Dodgers tonight. Pre-game at 6-30. Nick's made a trade last night. They go get a star. Mike Cal bridges from the Nets in exchange for four unprotected first-round picks. A top four protected first-round pick by Milwaukee. As well as a 20-25 second-round pick and Bo-Jan back down in it. In former Blackhawk Jeremy Ronek going into a hockey hall of fame in November. It was announced yesterday. Way to go, JR. J Moore. He just said to me, JR, that's what they call Jeremy Ronek. Ronek around here, kid. I was making a joke. I don't even think you know who he is. Hoodie, you understood I was making a joke. I didn't hear it. You don't talk to me. So I didn't hear what you said. Apparently, this glass has a distance and a limiter. Yeah, I didn't hear anything you said. Captain Jay Hood, weekday morning 7-10. Here on ESPN 1000, that's straightly gone. And get out of there, Kevin Hart. Instigating. And also on the ESPN Chicago app with you. It's 10 o'clock that Mike Greenberg comes in at 10. Carmen Yurko, 12-3. Jesse and Sylvie, what a combination. So Sylvie sounds sick, man. He was hurt. Oh boy. Not even hurt. He was playing the hurt. Please don't say that. Oh my god. The voice? Not just the voice. It sounds like he's got a horrible head cold. It felt bad for him. He has sinuses. That could be. Maybe. Jesse and Sylvie, 2-30, 6-30 into White Sox baseballs. They take on the Dodgers. 6-30 pregame right here on the home of the White Sox. ESPN 1000, black and a dollar on YouTube. And don't forget the ESPN Chicago app for their podcast, where you could find the guys. 3-1-2-3-3-2-3-7-7-6. It's our telephone. And we're talking about the Cubs if you're just joining us. The Cubs lost again. But again, what's so unusual about this for me, Cap, is the starting pitching you take your head off to. It may not be the best starting rotation in the big leagues. It's not Seattle as good as they are. Or some of these other, it's not. But the point is those that you're getting quality starts. Hendrix turned the clock back to his prime yesterday to try to help the Cubs. And what do the Cubs do? They just farted right there in San Francisco. Fart in the wind. There's no approach. 11 strikeouts. Horrendous. Horrendous. Just this. I don't know, man. I feel like as optimistic as I was about the Cubs, it just doesn't seem like, at this point in time, they can turn it around. And if they can, who can turn it around? You have to have someone in your lineup, you say, I'll carry it for a couple of weeks. You have to have that, right? Hitting is contagious, but also slumping is contagious. Big time on the Cubs team. Well, let me ask you a question. Like what? I know it's always looks worse than it actually is. Or it's not as good as it actually is when it's rolling. Yep. Somewhere in the middle, what's going to turn around in the off-season? Are they going to buy Juan Soto? Well, we're not there yet, Cap. Come on. Okay, but let's not do that. Are we already talking about the off-season? Are we done? No, my question is how's this turning around? How's it turning around? Swancing at all of a sudden become a 300 hitter and hit 37 bombs? No. So how's this turn around? It turns around when you have a different philosophy in that chair. If you keep on achieving like this, you go from not making the playoffs again to not making the playoffs back-to-back seasons. If you don't make the playoffs, not even a little bit of a post-season, there has to be a conversation. Has to be. Agreed. So without drastic, drastic change, how does this change? How does this get fixed? Well, Cap. Hey, Tom, we need another 230 million of your money. Well, that's the whole thing. You don't want to hear this, but usually in that spot, if you're a Padre, if you're a Met, you know what happens? You pair the payroll back. You roll it back a little. That's what the Padre's did. Yeah. That's what the Met's did. I know you don't want to see that because the Cubs are at a certain threshold that at 230 million, where you should be a playoff team. Without a question. Well, you should at least be competitive. But then you know what happens, Cap. This Ricketts won't spend. He took the money away. He spent it. And what is he getting for it? It's about ROI. This whole thing in sports is ROI. Agreed. What are you getting there? What is your return on investment for the money I've spent? Agreed. Again, could he spend more? Certainly. But guess what? He spends more than every team in his division and does not get anything for his money. Cubs are four games back in the wildcard this morning. As we go to Yorkville, here's John on Cap and J-hood. Hey, John, good morning. Hey, good morning, Cap and hoodie. Thanks for taking my call. Sup, Johnny? I'm going to press. I'm going to press my comments with the fact that I wasn't happy when David Ross was fired. Anyway, and that was supposedly because this new guy council was more familiar with and more apt to use metrics, which I'm sick of. Anyway, this came to a head in the first game of the giant series when Colt Brewer comes in to save it in the night. First guy, pop up. OK, Texas Leaguer. Next guy, a bunt. He's not getting hit, but the metrics say because this next guy, a pinch, a switch hitter, hits a little bit worse from the right side. I'm going to take Colt Brewer up because he's a right-handed pitcher. So we're going to turn that batter around, bringing it smiley. The rest is history. That's all I got to say. I'm sick of metrics. He has not adjusted to the type of players he has. Oh, and one more thing. Christopher Morell is just hobby by as reincarnated. Dare you say that about Morell? How dare you say that about Morell? Damn it. Look, he just turned 25 yesterday. I'm not ready to write off Christopher Morell. Who is, by the way, the leading home run hitter on the team? But look, I don't think Craig has made every move correctly. No manager does. But when Dan's being swanced and hitting, whatever he's hitting, 208 or 210 or whatever it is, and Morell's hitting 200, and you have nobody, nobody that is a star in your lineup. Nobody. Nico Horner is as average a player as they get. Nice guy. Good solid average. Michael Bush has actually been playing a pretty solid baseball the last four or five weeks. I've, my guys that bleeped your nation. Mike Sarami, I'll read you some of the numbers where you go, well, getting better. Michael Bush, yeah. Better. We just did the AB comparison. Remember, we did a blind resume. We'd rather have the, the, I think the arrow's pointing up for Michael Bush, but you got to play him every day and just see what happens. Don't disagree. So, but if you look at some of the numbers, some guys are hanging in there. But that roster, 230 million dollars for what you're getting, that's an absolute joke. I'm just telling you, Cap, what's going to happen? If they continue to go in this direction and become a non-play off team, Jed and or Tom Ricketts has the right to say, you know what? I'm not adding on to this, what we already have here. It's a garbage heap. It's underachievement. I can't add more money to something that does not work. That dog don't hunt if they keep going in this direction. Okay, let me just read you this, because Shay and I have argued about the offense or the bullpen. They both suck, but Shay, you listening? Michael Bush since May 28th. The last line of 323, 432, 500 with a 166 WRC+, Ian Haps, it's May 16th. He's been good. 241, 341, 526, 141. Weighted runs created plus. That's your favorite stat. And Dansby since May 30, so a decent sample size, not the whole season, 253, 26, 488 with a 127. Weighted runs created plus. So the offense in small little segments here is getting better. Just did steal since May 27, 39 innings in the area of 1.38. Kyle Hendricks has been magnificent his last five or six outings. Magnificent, and guess what? No reinforcements, nothing. Should I show you there? Yeah, I mean, I'd look at the rest of the offense too. That's great. Three players who were horrible to start the season are turning up a little bit. But Bush wasn't horrible. Bush wasn't terrible, but Dansby and Haps certainly were awful. No question. And the morale deal like leads the team and home runs great. He's sixth in OPS and fifth in slugging. It just feels kind of flimsy to me. He runs into a few, but he strikes out a bond. He hits 200, doesn't get extra base hits. It's either a home run or nothing like it. These not immensely valuable. It was an offensive player to me at all. Right. But on a team that's struggling, he's 25. Let him keep playing. He's young. I wouldn't. I'm not saying I'm out on him, but the leading home run thing doesn't really matter to me at all. It's just, it's embarrassing that it's so bad. And somebody who I know over there, it regularly said, well, nobody else in the industry is making trades. Well, that's actually not true. There have been a handful. But guess what? Desperate times call for desperate measures. You got all these great prospects that put a deal together and go get somebody. I don't get why Elias Diaz, the catcher in Colorado, isn't on the team already. But he's heard. He's on the injury list. I know, but like you get the point, there's things where, why aren't you making the move now? Why, I get it's going to cost you a little more, but a team would probably be happy to get a little tax off of you to do the trade now rather than wait until they'll get less in a month. You can't trade them on the injury list. I'm not saying that. I'm just like, it should have been a month ago. We will take more of your phone calls coming up on the Cubs. Don't forget to shout a no shot at eight o'clock. All part of the mix on the cap and jayhood morning show. We suck. Welcome back to cap and jayhood on Chicago's on for sports. ESPN Chicago. Yeah. Captain jayhood on ESPN 1000 and streaming on the ESPN Chicago app. Joey G is with us on the cap and jayhood morning show. Joey, good morning. Morning gentlemen. How are you? What's up, Joseph? What's up there, David? All good. Scott, how you feel? I'm well. Thank you. Yeah, you're looking good for you. You're looking good. Thank you. Going. Keep going. Yep. Can my staff say it? One, two, one cap. Happy anniversary. Thank you, sir. Number two, I know it's a frustrating anniversary. Because of what happened to you. Me in the back. Number three to call then. That's all I'm going to say. For your luggage. Okay. Now yesterday's press conference with Craig Council. Yep. And he's going. Yeah, they hit a couple out. He had a prime opportunity to take a shot at his club to say we have to start doing that. We have to start hitting the bottom of the ballpark. I believe it's time for Rickets to talk to judge and say what is going on here? 230 million dollar payroll. And this is what I'm getting. They have no chance of making a playoff cap. And I know you're a die-hard company. But they have no chance. They got to reap. We have no big bopper. We have no hundred mile an hour closer. We need that stuff for the cups. What do you know about the sacks? They're unwatchable. Yes. So that's why I'm watching the cups. And yeah, they should have took that 40 million and went on and got sold. Well, it makes sense to us. Joey, thanks man. I'm looking at the spot rack. MLB payroll rankings. Okay. Of the teams in the top 10, the Mets are 38 and 39. They've been playing much better baseball. Mets are playing better. They beat the Yankees yesterday. Okay. They're at 309 million. They paired it down. They're at 309. The Yankees are at 307, which their owner came out two weeks ago and said, this is unsustainable. We cannot spend that kind of money. We can't do it. We don't have the revenue. Hughes, but they're great. They're 52 and 29. Houston has now gotten a little bit better. They're up to 39 and 40. You watched. They'll find a way to the playoffs. Yes. They got the dead weight of a Bray U off the wall club. They're better. They're third. Yeah. The Phillies at 245. Look at their lineup versus ours. And they're only spending, I'll give you the numbers. They're at 245.5, 52 and 27. Atlanta, 233.1. They're 43 and 33. Texas, Texas is scuffling a bit, but they won the World Series last year. Careful. I'll trade. Yes. They're at 231.5. The Dodgers in seventh, 50 and 31. The Dodgers. Strong organization. Top to bottom. Now, that is a little skewed because they deferred all that alternative money. Otherwise, they'd be second. But they are 50 and 31. The next team in payroll. 226.4. The Chicago Cubs. I mean, look at those other teams, the stars they have and the money we're spending for that performance. Now, the difference between those teams and your team, those teams have stars on them. That's my point. What do you have? That's my point. Like, look at the Mets. They've got some stars. Lindor. The polar bear. Peter Lanzo. Like, they've got some players now. Okay. You go to the Yankees. Aaron Judge. Jean Carlos Stanton. And I can keep going. They got stars. I don't know if this is the way in your household, but it is in mind. Sometimes when you go shopping, you go, you know, Whole Foods, Jules, wherever you go. And you fill up the grocery cart. And then you come home. You can't bring the bags in. You go, what did I spend? What did you really, did you get quality? That's what I'm saying. Like you got whatever kind of meat you wanted or certain things that you like. But then you look at it and look at the price. And then look at the groceries you bought. You're like, well, that's like the Cubs. I got $230 million with the groceries. But what did I get? Right. I'm stuffing the pantry with a few things, but nothing that I really love. Look at Houston. They got stars. Right. So it's at the least loaded with stars. Atlanta? Stop. Loaded. Texas. Stars. The Dodgers. Stars. Go behind the Cubs. Toronto. They got some good players. Yep. San Francisco. Not a very good team. They spent 202. But you go down this list here. St. Louis is ahead of us. Well, Cubs are in the last. Everyone's ahead of us. 175. San Diego. Loaded with stars. 163. Slash the payroll. Yeah, 163. I mean, do you know what Milwaukee's payroll is this year? 106. Shout out no shot in two minutes. 106. We're laughing at it. On cap and J-hood.
