Hey, welcome back to it San Diego. We head into the four o'clock hour, Chris Ello, Tony Bonjour, Matt Scrabie, together in our Odyssey Palace studios 97.3. The fan day off for the San Diego Padres who come back home after an unbelievable road trip, talked about it in length earlier, seven into a seven game win streak in there, three shut out to no hitter by Dylan Sees, more magic from Jerks and Profar. And on and on it went. Now we'll see what the Padres can do back at Petco Park where they haven't played as well as they have on the road. And they'll get the Dodgers for two. And then after another day off on Thursday, they'll host the Colorado Rockies whose only road playoff series win this year. Was the one they got here in San Diego way back in May. The sweep, the sweep, Rockies have not won another series on the road this year. So five home games coming up, really good pitching match ups to start the series with glass now facing Waldron tomorrow and no hitter Dylan Sees against Clayton Kershaw on Wednesday. That's a really good match up. Tony, I'm sure you'll hear the name Johnny Vandermeer come up Wednesday night. Do you know why? Even I know why even Scravey knows why you'll hear the name Johnny Vandermeer come up. I bet you your partner, Jesse Adler. Jesse will bring this up. I feel like I know this and I just definitely know it like blanking on you're just in a fog. Johnny Vandermeer is the only person ever in baseball history to throw to. Oh, yes. No, he's in a row. Yes. Yes. So that's what Dylan Sees will be attempting to do on Wednesday night. Let's not, let's not set expectations too high for him. Oh boy. No, I, okay, you guys don't need to stop the show when I raise my hand. Why are you raising it then? Because there has been a trade that went through that may help the Padres. Oh, that's right. Wait, where's your, where's your breaking? This is a breaking news type. You don't have the sound. We don't, we don't use it. Lane Thomas was expected to be on the move at some point was was not enough. Oh, okay. But he's going to the Cleveland Guardians. That's a good move for finalizing a deal to acquire him from the Washington Nationals left handed pitching prospect Alex Klemie and two other prospects going to Washington. I like telling a little player. I tell you what, man, I getting to watch him the last two years play against the Padres. It's pretty good. He's a pretty good player, man. Pretty good. He's got great speed. He's great speed. He's almost 30 stone. Yeah, man. I like him. I like his game with a little power. Nice pickup for Cleveland. But what you're saying is that it's good news for the Padres because he's not going elsewhere. I read the National League team. Yeah, I read that the Dodgers were trying or were in on him. I read some of the other teams and the Mets maybe. Jesse Wieker is now a Met too. They got their field. They got they got a Dodgers got Copic and who was the other deal? Got to go Tommy. Yeah, so they're good. They don't think it. Tommy Edmond may play center field. He is going for the Dodgers. Yeah. We'll see. He's got to get healthy first. He hasn't been in the big leagues yet this year. The young man. Young man. Outman hasn't his struggle mightily this year had a tough year. Tough year. Jason. Was it Andy Pahas? Who was there before? Pahas was there. So, you know, he's, you know, not helping the situation as much as they thought. They got they got a bunch of problems. They they're pulled. They're half but four fifths of the rotation is hurt. Yeah, it is. Honestly, you got, uh, Kershaw's coming back. You don't come back. He pitch last week. Yeah. I'm a motor. Glass knows back. He returned last week. You got, uh, what's the other dude? May he's still out. Oh, yeah. You're wearing out. Viewers out. Grateral. Grateral. Grateral rotation, but he's out. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, but they still have a, uh, still have a six and a half game lead on the Padres. Also true as the two game series gets underway tomorrow night. Uh, okay. Well, along with that news, Lane Thomas going to Cleveland. A couple of other trade moves today. Justin Turner went from Toronto to Seattle. Uh, these guys were just talking about a Tommy fam and Eric Fett. He go from the white socks to the Cardinals. Tommy fam or Tommy Edmond goes from the Cardinals to the Dodgers. Michael Copette goes from the white socks to the Dodgers. And the Dodgers give away some prospects and the white socks really don't wind up with anything after that trade. Honestly, uh, Pittsburgh Pirates, uh, deal young right handed starter Quinn Prester, former number one pick, number one, first round pick goes to the red socks. Our friend Ty France is now a Cincinnati red. So he may, uh, good for Ty hopefully get a, you know, this opportunity to work out for him. I mean, I thought it was working out pretty well in Seattle, but man, one slump and they gave up on him. Uh, the only other move today, Michael Lorenzen, Kansas City Royals get the former no hit thrower starting pitcher from Texas. That's it from today. Padres, of course, only may, uh, deal, you know what they've made. Jason Adam came from Tampa Bay for three prospects, three, uh, pretty good prospects going back to the Tampa Bay Rays. Nothing else from the Friars, at least as of now. Trade deadline. Now 22 hours away. Tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick, tick. All right. We're going to just have a two man game today in Chris versus the fans. Oh, yeah. Well, at the moment, yeah, there's lines open. For those of you say, I've always wanted to play Christopher at the fans. I can never get through. There's never a line open. There's like four lines open, right? You know what I found, Chris? What you found? Those people are liars who are they, they say they want to play the game, but every time we do this, they don't call. There are a lot of people that say they want to play and then say they can take the lights. The lights come on and they're like, yeah. And then there's people who will know when the game is played, but they keep telling me they forgot. Sounds like Tony Gwyn Jr. And Matt Scrabier challenging you a challenge to dial in to eight, three, three, two, eight, eight, eight, eight, eight, seven, three, give yourself a chance to be qualified for a trip to the Rio Las Vegas, includes a two night stay dinner for two and a day bed at the Rio pool, new ownership, newly remodeled rooms, four sparkling new pools, and a brand new food hall. Well, I hope you know it Jen for Chris versus the fans starts now on 97 three the fan. All right, the rules. You have to make it through three questions. Each question is going to get more difficult as you go along. If you get the question right, you move on. If you get the question wrong and Chris gets it right, you're eliminated. But if Chris gets it wrong, then you move on to the next question or you win. If you're first time, there we go. Let us know before the first question. You will get that question for free today. All right, let's get to our first contestant, Jason. Hello, Jason. How you doing? Well, Jason, is your other phone ringing? Do you okay? You need to take that call? No, we're good. Yeah, thank you. Okay, you're welcome. Here we go, Jason. Question number one. If you win an Olympic event, what kind of medal do you get? Really? He must have had no time. No, this was Jason. What? Scared me for a second. Yes, the gold medal is correct. Here we go. Question number two. All right, which? Let's see. Actually, I'm going to do one of those player ones. I'm going to give you three players and you're going to tell me what team they all played for together. It's football. Brett Favre. Percy Harvin. Jared Allen. Brett Favre. What do you say? I think he got it. I think he got it. What do you think? You got it. You got it right. Oh, I thought you said. Oh, wow. Dang. Good job. Hey, it was on Jason. I misunderstood you. All right. Here we go. Question number three. We have the finest host in game show. Because I didn't hear what the guy said. That's part of your dad. Alex Trebek never went. What did he say? We don't actually know that though. They edit that show. So there you go. You don't get that luxury, buddy. No, this is live. Here we go, Jason. Question number three. The Padres record for stolen bases in a game is five. Three players have done this. Name two of those players. Two. Wait, three players. What was the final one? Ozzy Smith. Ozzy Smith. Stay there though. Chris? Yes. Hi, how are you? Project record for stolen bases in a game is five. Three players have done this. Name two of those players. That's tough. That's tough. I remember one of them a little while ago, but like within the last 10 years, but I can't remember who it was. I'll say Tony Gwyn and Alan Wiggins. You've got to be kidding me. You got to be kidding me again. You got it. Yes. I'm sorry. Who was the third? Damian Jackson? Oh, yes. I kind of remember. That's the one I kind of remember. Tony Gwyn did. I wasn't going to guess my dad. No, Alan Wiggins did it first in 1984. I was going to guess Alan for sure, but I wasn't going to have my dad. You didn't have your dad with five. Five in a game. It's September 20th, 1986. Sorry about that. Yeah. Two. Who was it? Jason. Jason. Thanks for calling Jason. All right. Here. Let's go to our next contestant. We're going to go to Andy. Hello, Andy. What's up, guys? How you doing? How you hurting Andy? Good to have you play? He's ready to play. Yeah. Here we go. He's ready. Ready. This is a science question. A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth is between the moon and what else? This time? Good job. I was very, I was very, that was there's a lot there. I would have answered the same way. You're pretty safe. I don't really know what else it could have been. I don't know. The Milky Way or something. Question number two. What former Marlin outfielder was acquired by the Yankees? Oh, wait. Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. That's a question number one. Still. All right. Name the baseball movie. These three actors were in. Brad Pitt, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright. Name the movie. Those actors were in together baseball movie. Brad Pitt, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Robin Wright. I mean, the only Brad Pitt me that I know is my alma mater at Mount Carmel. So, money ball. Oh, I was like, you did something. Good job. Nice job. It was money ball. Thank God. Philip Seymour Hoffman was the manager and Robin Wright was maybe Brad Pitt's wife. X wife? Don't remember what Robin Wright did, but I do know that Philip Seymour Hoffman as great of an actor as that guy was terrible casting. He does not. He was not believable. Really good actor too. He had the body type four chance to be art. How? Here we go, Andy. Question number three, get this right or Chris gets it wrong. You're qualified for Las Vegas. The Padres record for RBI's in a game is eight. Two well-known players did this. Name both. Two. Just two. Eight is the record. Okay. And Manny. Stay there, Andy. Stay there. All right. I'm going to take a wild stab at this. I really don't know. I remember the Snickers game. So, I'm going to go with Ken Kamenetty. And I remember the 24 run game in Washington. I'm going to go with Jake. Jake Croninworth. Yeah. Those are my two guesses. Nice job, Andy. You are the winner. So, stay right there. I'm going to come get you in the break. You did get Ken Kamenetty. What was the Snickers game? He was sick, wasn't feeling well, went out and had his Snickers. Half a couple. Oh, man. The MVP award right after that pretty much. So, basically, he started the whole campaign. He started the commercial 100%. Oh, man. He gets no credit for it. All right. The other one, Nate Colbert, in 1978 or '71 or '02. No. Too. Too. Yeah, much earlier. And it was in the second game of a double header that day. Yeah. Well, that was the day that Nate Colbert had five home runs in a double header. Well, there you go. That's why he's on the list. I didn't know he had eight RBIs in one of those two games, though. Very good. All right, Andy. Congratulations. You take down Chris first. The fans today will take a quick time out here. Morgan and Chris is on the way. Still ahead on the program. A big five is in your future. Also, we have to update you on today's doings. We haven't even mentioned it yet. The Paris Olympic Games. No, we haven't. We haven't even touched on it yet. Day four. I've really gotten to know Rugby pretty good. You think you. All right. Coming up in the next segment, Tony Gwen explains the rules of rugby. I can't give you the rules. You still can't give us a couple of rules. But I can watch it and tell you what's happening and who's doing well. All right. You know what I was watching earlier? That was great. Fencing. And you know what I'm doing? Fencing is good. It was great. The you're complaining about the referee. Apparently, washes replays. And then sometimes it happens at the same time. So he just he's supposed to make the determination. Sometimes he goes, I don't know. You guys just do it again. If you can't make a determination on who hit first. I don't know. Just do it again. Yeah, it's really crazy. I was like, that's a great cop out for a referee. All right. Well, we'll chuck some traffic before we get into all of it. We all belong outside. We're drawn to nature. Whether it's the recorded sounds of the ocean we doze off to or the succulents that adorn our homes, nature makes all of our lives. Well, better. Alright, I want to get you guys' opinion on this. This came up yesterday as we were preparing for the game. Dave Marcus had a hadron article of two kids that jumped over the, you know, ran onto the field during a big league ball game in Detroit. There's video today of the said kids and when I say kids, I don't know the exact ages, but they look like maybe one's preteen, like 12. Yeah. Wow. They're looking at one's maybe a little older. Okay. They took them off in handcuffs. Okay. There are some people upset that the kids were being taken away in handcuffs. Okay. What is your opinion on this? I mean, the kids that I get, I'll say they they take it away in handcuffs. I saw the video. Sorry. I was checking something. Um, I think, I think it's spot on. You think it's spot on? I think it's spot on because it's kind of like, by the way, the parents were sitting right there. They were sitting in the stands. There you go. Jumped off. If someone would have maybe arrested me as a kid for like fake arrested me, I may have thought of twice about. Yeah, by the way, they were let off in handcuffs. I don't know that they like, I don't think they're actually arrested, but you think it's spot on. Chris, what do you think? Um, I would carry the kids off, but I would go up and handcuff the parents. What? I'm kidding. I was going to say this is, this is the most shocking thing. They're exactly doing a great job though. If their kids are running out onto the field, I must throw that in there. I, I often, I'm going to throw that in there. When these situations happen, usually the, my first thought is, what would my mom have done if I jumped onto the field here in a game? The worst thing that would have happened to you was being hung away in handcuffs by the police. That would have been the best thing that happened. So, as a matter of fact, you might have told the guy in the jail to leave me in there. I told Jesse and Dave both the same thing. I was like, I, I think that might have been the best part of the day if I did jump on the field. Not to mention, you know, how embarrassing my dad would have probably been if he was in right field. I decided to just run on the field for a joy, joy run during the middle of the game. Wouldn't have been good. Uh, yeah, no, I, I didn't have a problem with a problem with it. And here's why. It's not that I necessarily liked the fact that, you know, a, a possible pre-teen and a young teen are being hauled off at cuffs. However, if you don't, especially in today's climate, if you, if you just kind of like escorted them off the field, what's to stop the next pre-teen and 30 year old? Because at that point, there is no real ramifications. You just were ushered off the field. That's the worst thing that can happen to you. It's a scary world right now. We've got stories doing not of six-year-olds shooting schools up, getting their hands on guns. I don't know. And I'm not saying these kids had a gun. What I'm saying is 12 years, 11 year olds, you don't know what anybody's capable of, you know, unfortunately doing right now. I think you almost have to do something like this, Tony, to try and dissuade others from doing it. I mean, we remember, remember, but also to teach these kids that, you know, we're not just going to let it get away with it because you're 12. Exactly. Because I mean, you have to be responsible. We did have a dude literally run onto the field, backflip in front of an officer before he was eventually tased and arrested, but. And then was proud of it the next morning, but that is, but that is, you can't think that those kids didn't see that. Yeah, they definitely saw that. Now, maybe they're not as athletic enough to do a backflip on that on the field after they run on. But I don't know, I saw this. I thought it was interesting because, you know, you don't usually see kids being hauled up. It is a weird video to watch and there was some, there was some, you know, people who had a problem with it. Well, you know, kids being can't. I get it, but those kids are being some kids. Yeah. Someone, a Dan on the chat said, my dad arrested me when I was six for stealing, put me in a squad card, took me to jail. See that's a bunch of Dan's pretty much on the street. Like that's how that's how our generation was. I've said before, I was put in jail overnight for not paying parking tickets and got pulled over for, you know, running a red light or something months later. And it was called a bench warrant back then. I don't know what all the. Anyways, bench words are serious. The police guy basically said, do you have like $1,200 and or you're going to have to go to jail till you get it. And I had to spend the night in jail and that wasn't great. I was maybe 20. And that was enough to get me to think twice about ever stealing a piece of bubblegum again or anything. I didn't enjoy that evening. I got a quick story of it. Not saying everybody should be put in jail, but it had its effect. Just how different the climate is in general. I remember there was an incident that happened. Young man put his, this is when I was in high school. I think it was a junior in high school. Young man put his hands on, on a cousin of mine. And so think about how stupid it is now. But we got in the car, we rolled to this kid's house. And you know, there was some back and forth. We ended up outside, right? And there's a chase that happens in a police pull up, right? And he sees what's kind of going on. He gets out of his car and he goes, all right, this is how we're going to handle this. I got boxing gloves in the back Trump. If you guys want to really do deal with this, we can get the boxing gloves out. You guys can fight. Of course, you know, our side was willing to do it. Other side wasn't. And then it was just, it was done. But the fact that the police officer pulled up and was like, listen, we got boxing gloves and bags. This is how you guys get handled. That would never happen now. It wouldn't know. There's no way. There's no way. I remember one time, um, a police officer, we were okay. So we did break into the gym. I didn't personally break into the gym. I love the way you started this story before you kind of left that before or after you broke up with that. This was before I was 17. You were on a line of just destruction at this point. I was 17 at this point or eight, 17. And one of the other kids was the bad kid. And he was the one who broke into the YMC gym in Encinitas. What were you guys going to do? Play basketball? Well, that's what we did. So someone saw that the basketball court was alive and it's not supposed to be. So the police show up, they come in, we're all having a great time. And they're like, everybody against the wall. And they were serious. And they patterned us down. This memory just unlocked in my head. They padded us down. They had us cuffed and put us outside with our hands behind our back. And, uh, that did teach me lessons. It is enough, right? I was like, I'm never hanging out with this kid again. He's getting in trouble. I've hung out with him twice and now I'm in cuffs. It's crazy, but it worked. It worked. Those, those lessons are useful because they teach you. They do. They really do. You don't want to do this again. They hopefully teach you if they don't. They don't always. Yeah. Sometimes it, you know, we, we don't learn from our mistakes and we make bigger ones down the road. Done that too. Most of us are smart enough not to smart enough to get the get the point. Yeah. All right. That's a pretty good one, Tony, though. I didn't realize that 12 year old kids were running on the field. I didn't need that surprise, though, at this point, not surprise at all. Adam on the chat said they had a parent try to attack a referee after a basketball game in 1997. There's a parent who tried to attack a referee after a basketball game and Chris can probably attest to this. That's a whole that's that's also evolved since 1997. I don't even care about Santa was the high school. I don't even care about coaches anymore. It's the parents. It's the parents for sure. It's the crowd. I want to get out of the game alive and it's not the coaches anymore. I think the coaches almost stick up. They do. They really stick up for us now. I, I, I, a lot of them. I remember the first meeting I had with, you know, they kind of bring the parents in when the team is level and that that was one of the first thing that really like got to me. Like I've listened to the ad talk about how they're running out of referees because that's a it's not the highest paying job and be that it's not worth the kind of beatdown you get. And they basically said if they, if it keeps up at the rate is going, we're not going to have enough referees. We may not. The thing that worries me the most is that our number one way to deal with unruly parents is to stop the game and have them removed from the gymnasium. Sounds like an easy enough plan. If you got real police officers there. Number one. Number two. Yeah, that's true. Who's to keep people in this day and age from coming back two hours later when the game's over to wait for you. It goes through my mind. I'm pretty unlikely to throw anybody out of a gym because I really don't want to see them later. The ramifications down the line. Yeah worries me. Can you imagine Kristen is a little referee and a little, his little referee walks up the corner and sees the parents. If you look at me, I'm a big guy. I am a big jersey. It's an XXL. It is always little. He's got black heads on, you know, he walks around the corner in that parents way before with the old school shoe shine. Yes, yes. The black. Yes. Oh, yeah. Joseph on the chat says, who is least likely to learn from his mistakes? Scravey, Tony, or Chris? I think it's me. That's an easy one. But I'm a lot better than I used to be. I guess you are. You are. I'm the guy who used to touch the hot stove over and over just to make sure it was still hot. Tony, do you ever hear of an umpire went by the Bob Moss? He went by the nickname of Hubba Jabba? Of course I know hubba Jabba. Hubba Jabba. Shop at the game. Hey, it's time to play. Hubba Jabba. He used to do work. He used to come in like when we had an inner squad games, he would umpire our games a lot. Hubba Jabba. Hubba Jabba. That was good people. He was a good guy. Yeah. Nobody get mad at hubba Jabba, but they tend to get mad at umpires and referees these days for show. All right. Let's, uh, let's get to break when we come back. The big five is on deck. We're winning Chris. All right. Welcome back to winning Chris for 38. Hope you're enjoying the program today. We don't get too many of four hour get-togethers where we're all in studio during baseball season. So we're making the most of it today. Big five is coming up here in the five o'clock hour. You'll get the latest on the trade deadline from Matt Snyder, CBS sports joined us a little earlier. There's been one move in the last hour or so Lane Thomas, pretty good outfielder for the Washington Nationals no longer. Hey, pretty good outfielder for the Washington Nationals. Now he is with the Cleveland Guardians. Dodgers did acquire reliever Michael Copac today from the White Sox. They also got themselves Tommy Edmond from the Cardinals. That was all part of a three team seven player swap. Tommy fam, our old friend goes back to St. Louis. Do we still play the Cardinals this year? Are we done with? Nope, we got it for four in August here? No, in hot. I was hoping they'd be coming to town. I know the fans probably missed Tommy fan won't get a chance to see him. Here, buddy. They love him. I don't know why they love him so much. Who was the other one I was thinking of that the Padre fans just won? Oh, well, Hosmer, duh. They'll never let that one go either here. No, they're still the pot until the Padres stop paying Eric Cosmer. I always wonder about it. Why does that bother the fans? It's not coming out of there because Chris, guess what? They can't sign any other players because they're paying Eric Cosmer. Okay, that's the risk you take when you sign in free agency. Yeah, but I don't thought you'd be retired at this point. Has anybody buy into the theory that without Eric Cosmer, there's never Manny Machado. And without Manny Machado, there's never the rest of these guys that have followed. We've tried anybody buy that or is no good. I don't think Manny even looks this way. If someone before him has see has even agree. There you go. So next time you hate Hosmer, don't forget to think of that. All right, let's check traffic. Speaking of traffic. The Bay Area. Driving yesterday from Santa Cruz to San Jose. You wasn't feeling that, huh? An hour and 45 minutes ago, 25 to 30 miles on a Sunday afternoon. Sounds like my way home from work. Not happy at all yesterday up there. Then I went by your football stadium. Yeah. Oh, he sent me a picture and he told me a zoom in on something which scares me because I don't know what he's trying to get me to look at. But I have a picture of me with the thumbs down in front of Levi Stadium yesterday. Oh, he does have thumbs down. Yeah, I didn't even realize that. My wife wanted to see the stadium. It's very close to the San Jose airport. So we went by. He said venturing into enemy territory, the home of the real evil empire. I will take it. That's where I was yesterday. I took it too on it. That's where I was. All right, let's do traffic and then the big five. It's that time of the show when we check on the latest in sports. Only the most important topics and questions are brought to light. Stop what you're doing and listen. These news stories will astound and amaze you. The one, the only. Oh my god. Who the hell cares? The big five starts now on 97th Ray the fan. All right, the big five looking to see you. Oh, there's my read baseball coverage on 97 through the fans presented by T mobile switch to T mobile and you can get tons of benefits and still save on every plan versus AT&T and Verizon use their savings calculator to find out how at T mobile dot com slash switch. So we have a lot to cover. Chris, we still have not actually got your thoughts on to a tongo by Loa. So we're going to have to put show him the money. Can't believe they spent all that money. I mean, what are they going to do now? We'll get to that in a little bit. It's not part of the big five, but we need to get your thoughts on it. Let's get started with Manny Machado. Something I found interesting about him over the weekend and the Padres trip to Baltimore were the boost Manny heard from Orioles fans. We all know Manny started his career with the Orioles and spent seven seasons with the Orioles before leaving Baltimore and Manny brushed it off saying the Orioles are good now and fans just don't want to see him wreak havoc, which he did. So Chris, why would Orioles fans boo Manny? Because Manny's good. It's the only answer. But he's like what he's he's he's stunk. They wouldn't care. No, I get it, but he but that's why you ask trying to think someone being traded away from here. Who would would we boo them coming back? Like like a like a like a no, everybody. No, not everybody. I'm trying to. Most fan bases boo star athletes once they go play else, but his history with Orioles, even though they don't trade themselves. Yeah, I mean, I just think that versus right. I mean, they typically boo. Unless you've had a long like career there. It's really the only way you're exempt from being boo example. Nolan R and Otto or if you won there. Okay. Nolan R and Otto went from the Rockies to the Cardinals. He didn't get food that I remember by the Rockies fans. He wanted out of his team. That's the example I was thinking like someone like that. I think I got pretty I think I got booed. I'm pretty sure I got booed because he's he wanted to trade it. He wanted to be traded after he re-upped the big deal. That's true. He was like that example. I got one again. Now we'll be trained. Manny, they the Baltimore Orioles knew they were rebuilding and Manny, they weren't going to re-sign Manny. So they traded him. And so maybe people feel like Manny. I think people just like to boo anyway, especially when you're good. It's just it's just easier. I did like the fact that our guy, Steven Woods, quote tweeted somebody who tweeted out before the series started. Something along the lines of Manny Machado's coming back to town. We'll get a chance to see how much better. What's the shortstop's name? Gunner Gunner Gunner Henderson is and then Gunner just went out and had like seven errors. Gunner Henderson. I mean, honestly, what happened to this guy? He did not look right. Not good at all. Oh, here's a great, but in your specification, he did win a title. Did Zander Bograt get booed when they went back to Boston? He also wasn't playing at the time. Hey, but he came out. They literally had like a jumbo tron. Like, oh, and they all gave him like a sand innovation. Yeah. So so that's the kind of thing I saw Manny. If you win at a place and you've had or you've had a long career in like last couple of years, you went somewhere else, you generally will be shown a lot of love. But if you're on the way up, a budding superstar and you leave for sure, you're going to get booed the next place. Okay, sure. The tweet woods he tweeted was from Dan Clark, which Dan Clark is a internet troll. It's trolling backfired on him. It's trolling. Well, he's the guy who said that he would get a tattoo. I don't remember the exact thing, but if the, if the Padres beat the Dodgers in 2022 in the playoffs, then he would get a Manny Machado tattoo and they did and he, he hasn't done it yet. Of course not. All right. The Green Bay Packers have made Jordan love a very rich man. And he is now tied with two others for the number one highest paid spot in the league, Joe burrow, Trevor Lawrence and Jordan love are all making $55 million this season. And many are asking, how did Jordan love get this deal? Tony, do you think Jordan love deserves this contract? No, but I think we've discussed this in, in the NFL, it's not about the deserving part. It's about the timing part. And remember, they moved on from Aaron Rodgers for him. So clearly Green Bay feels pretty highly about him. And the timing was right. Whoever signed the last deal, there was no, he was the next man up. His number has to exceed that. What's to his new number? Because that surprised me. No, I think it came out right after two of those deal. What is it? It was pretty much the same time. Yeah, it was almost the same time. Jordan loves better than two. I mean, Chris just doesn't understand and doesn't like it. No, I get it. I mean, to was making $53.1 million. It's so much money, but this is what they get. Yeah, there you go. This is what they all get now. I guarantee you, even though those deals were reported around the same time, there was word that love reached some point or opposite, and love had to get on top. Sorry, Chris, go ahead. That's fine. Look, Patrick Mahomes is putting all of this into a somewhat proper perspective. The problem is there's very few people that think the way that Patrick Mahomes says. No, they don't. And this is why he's going to keep winning super bowls, and they're not. That's why I like him. I love this. But his comment was when they asked him, "Don't you deserve more money than these guys?" He said, "I'm not underpaid." I love the way he asked. I love the way he answered it. He didn't say that he wasn't deserving of more money. He just said, "I'm not underpaid. I don't have anything to worry about. Shut up and play ball. You don't have anything to worry about. You're all making an absurd amount of money, and when it's your turn, you'll get paid." And you didn't ask me about two, but I'll answer it anyway. This is proof that you'll get paid, because what is too a done to deserve that? I think he's zero part of the times. Well, like you said, this is the going rate for a quarterback now. Right, this is the going rate. So that's what he's done to deserve it. That's it. All right. Back to Manny Machado real quick on Dominic was at the game on Saturday, saying that he was there an hour before the game taking pictures and signing autographs for a lot of Orioles fans and Padres fans. I really want to know what Brock Purdy's going to get, and I've heard $65 million a year. Brock Purdy, if they don't sign Brandon, you can't go get nowhere near that. Brandon, I think he's going to play. I didn't say he wasn't going to play. They don't sign him, and he has to depart. He won't be throwing to the same offense anymore. A couple weeks ago, I missed this, but there was a cryptic Instagram post by one of the players on the 49ers that said he thinks he's the only one who did anything. And you just assume they're talking about it. It has to be. It has to be. Oh, you're funny. We'll be talking about Brock Purdy. We don't need to because he's still. I said, what if he's talking about Brock Purdy? He's not. How do you know? Because Brock Purdy is a sweetheart. Oh, oh, he is one of the nicest people in the world. They're all sweetheart. He doesn't want us to go in and start negotiating for them. Brock Purdy would fire his agent here. Oh, the moral ground. Yeah, I like that. Pretty going, you know, 20 sounds good. Let's just call it even. Yeah, we're good. I'm not underpaid. 20 is good. One of the trades made over the weekend was the Marlon sending jazz to him Jr. to New York and the Yankees are possibly eyeing a position change for him. Jazz says he's open to playing third base for the Yankees, adding that he, quote, could go and play anywhere and help my team win. Garrett Crochet should take a little note out of his book. Glaiver Torres, on the other hand, did not sound as receptive to moving to the hot quarter. He said he's a second baseman. He doesn't want to do it with a looming surplus about fielders on the roster. It looks like jazz is going to play third base for the Yankees. Chris, do you think he becomes an everyday third baseman? So jazz chism? Yes. I'll say no, just for fun. Okay. I don't really, I don't know how good of an infielder he really is. I don't know how great he was at second base before he moved to the outfield. And so I say in New York, if he, you know, kicks three or four balls, they'll have him back in the outfield before long. Tony? It's a good question. Will he be the everyday third baseman? I don't know. I think it depends on how well he takes to the position. He's never played it before. But I have this sneaky suspicion that jazz is made for this new life stage. So you think she's bringing the best out of him? I mean, just watching him yesterday and seemed like I'll run today. Did he hope? Yeah, I'm telling you, I think he's kind of made, he almost needs the structure of a New York Yankee team. You know, it's a free fraud. It seems like in in Miami, especially considering that the manager's not coming back, it don't look like like, I imagine it's tough in that environment right now. And I think this this might be good for me. It just seemed like he was really excited to be a Yankee. And that's not the case for everybody. He doesn't have a beard, so he doesn't have anything to worry about. No, he's he looks like he can't grow any facial. It's good. Okay, good. Guardian caps. Do you guys know about these things that the NFL players? Yes, they're going to they can use them in the game. Well, they work during practice. And that means that they're going to work during games. The NFL reverse course this year and its prior rule that players can't wear them beyond the practice field. But one player who's actually thinking about wearing a guardian cap, the Seahawks quarterback, Gino Smith, he said, Well, I've been thinking about wearing mine. I'm still debating on if I should wear my guardian cap. I don't know yet. But obviously, I hit a lot of people with my head so I have to be careful out there. What? I know, you shouldn't be hitting lobby. Would you know your quarterback? You're the most protected player on the field, even though they look a little funny. And even with the covering that simulates the look of a helmet shell, they can make the game safer for all players. Tony, how long until this is standard? It's a great it's a good thing. Thank you. Thank you. I'm not sure. It's it's a I mean, the answer is clear that it's a safer deal. But in the same way it took baseball players a while before they started wearing that s cap coming down their face. Oh, yeah, the job like nobody wanted to wear that. Yeah, that's right. Because it was it looked terrible. Let's be honest. In the same way the bulky hat looked terrible. That looks so terrible. That guys have said no, I'm not going to wear. I don't care if it's a picture concussion. Yeah, they just said no. So I think it'll I think of I don't know if I think eventually players will keep getting softer and softer on this until majority of them wear it. If I'm running back this, I'm definitely wearing this bad boy like running backs, line baggers anytime any of those positions that you're having full on car crashes every play. Apparently, Gino Smith, Gino wants one too. Chris, what do you think? How long until this is standard? I'm going to go in the opposite direction. I'm going to say that no helmets or leather helmets. No, I don't think it catches on. I don't think there's no logo on those things. I don't think these guys know they do they do. The Chargers debuted one over the weekend where it looked like their helmet. So it's like going over the helmet, I had the same sort of ones with the logos. They do. Okay, that might give me to come along with it. But I think guys have to look cool. They tell you something about it, man. I'm telling you. There's still something about that in football is a pretty macho game no matter how many times you get hit. So I'll go the other way and say they don't catch on, but Tony's probably closer to right. All right. That's it. You made it through. What we don't need. We don't need a number one. I don't really have one to be honest, but I do have some news on the other side. It looks like you see Kikuchi maybe dealt here shortly. I tell you why and where. I don't like where you're going. No, you like your tone is not good. No, you like it. You like it. You like it. Hey, Mikey. You like? You'll try everything. All right. That's next to 97 through the fan. Is your child struggling with a specific subject or need help with homework?
