A Monday and a full four hours together here on San Diego's number one sports talk station. Ninety seven three. The fan might as well tell you the name of the program. It's Gwen and Chris. Chris Ello, Tony Gwen Jr. and Mr. Scrabie as well. Not only four hours with us today, but there'll be a Scrabie Chronicles at the very end of all of this. So you are locked in for an enjoyable Monday afternoon and evening as we join you Tony Gwen Jr. checks in from the nation's capital in Washington DC. Padres play the Nationals tomorrow, but Tony Gwen Jr. has arrived a day early. No truth to the Twitter rumors that he's there to announce that he's running for office. So Canada see there's an opening apparently in the high level of government in the United States. Tony's gone to Washington DC. You're not running though. Absolutely not. You're not going to do it. You're not going to feel the void. Nope. I will not be feeling any void. This is it's also I won't be running anywhere because it's raining outside. So it's a good thing they didn't have a game today because it would be definitely under delay right now. You know what's funny is that I was watching some coverage just of everything that's going on in the nation's capital and I did notice it was raining quite hard where the lady was broadcasting out in the streets there. So yes, no game today anyway. Hopefully the weather will clear. Potters will be able to get back at it tomorrow and wow it is raining really hard. This is being cool here on the Intercom Empire. So we're sitting out there. What? That's for the people that are joining us from Washington DC right now. Yes. Anybody who happens to be listening to the show from Washington DC. There's your weather report from our former weather boss Matt Scrabie. Padre start off this road trip. I mean what else can we say? I mean you know they're the only team in Major League Baseball that has lost a series at home to the Rockies. They don't only lost that series at home to the Rockies. They got swept. But they are also now one of only two teams joining the Yankees who did it in April. They're one of only two teams that have won a road series in Cleveland. And as I said Friday Tony maybe this is exactly what we should have expected from the Padres just when you think it's not looking too good. They make you happy again. Yeah I think I think you know I think if you get caught up in the final score of the first game Friday's game then yeah I mean but if you remember it was a 2-0 game going into that eighth and yeah it imploded on you know really with Shilty not using any of his you know back end guys he was trying to get through that game you know behind and it blew up on him. And so outside of that they came back the next day and I thought you know had a heck of a game really the next two games they didn't capitalize on the opportunities they had yesterday but it did enough to win because the pitching Michael King was was phenomenal. I mean when you didn't think it could get much better after watching Seast the day before Michael King comes out and is just I mean having his way with pretty much that entire lineup and you know they the schedule works where you know they can move beyond the fifth starter at this point at this you know as they try to figure out what they want to do there and so they'll be able to get through at least another time through the rotation but that's a question that seemingly is going to have to be answered at some point what does that look like I don't think we know but to start the series off and get that a victory that's a pretty that's a get that series victory against a really good really good guardians team yeah Cleveland had the that wasn't that was impressive yeah they had the best record at home in the American League they had the best record overall in the American League and if you watch the Cleveland the last two days I just kept wondering how did they win a bunch of games well evidently they won them because they weren't facing the likes of Dylan Sees and Michael King and basically all those two guys did Tony was turn in historic pitching performances and before you out there say well that's over overstating it a little bit well let's see Dylan Sees allowed one hit Michael King allowed two the Padres allowed three hits over two games the last time that happened and the only other time it happened in Padre history your dad was playing right field and the 1984 team was heading to the world series so it has been 40 years since the Padres put together back-to-back starts like that and if you include what Matt Waldron did on Friday nights I was just getting ready to say he can't leave Waldron out of that at all here or here is the pitching line for the Padres three starters this weekend 20 innings nine hits two runs two walks and 21 strikeouts that will get the job done as a matter of fact it maybe should have been good enough to sweep the series but we'll go ahead and take the two out of three and as you said you don't need the the fifth man right now Vasquez pitches tomorrow night against the Nationals Tony and then it's right back to these three guys you know on this road trip and it was brilliant so they hand they completely shut down a team that had been you know feasting on everybody in the American League especially everybody that came to Progressive Field so it's it's just wonderful to see this Padre team they continue to I'm sorry but the roller coaster every time it hits the bottom floor it goes right back up and I'm not surprised and I feel pretty good heading into Washington DC and that's despite some of the news coming out about Joe Musgrove Kevin A.C. tweeted out today that he said it'll be at least a month before Musgrove comes back that's at least a month well that takes us now with Musgrove at least till the end of August to August 22nd would be a month from now so I don't know if that it can be preference that way that it's bad news I think it was gonna be this way all along based on how he is progressing I mean he is not pitched in quite some time so it wasn't like he got healthy and he was just gonna be able to be back in the rotation there's going to have to be a complete buildup you know as as you go and I think that was always going to be the case so I mean maybe the timeline they feel shocking but I don't know that we can call it bad news I think bad news would have been that he had some type of regression or he can't he won't be making it back I think once he he has decided to kind of take his time to come back I think it was always going to be around around that that time for him yeah I I don't know why for whatever reason I thought August meant hopefully a little bit earlier August and so that's why that's why I said that um got you know the end of August is the 22nd would be a month and that's if he came back in exactly a month so I think I think basically what that tweet told me is that you know maybe we shouldn't really expect it until the beginning of September we don't we certainly don't know about Darvish if at all and I think it's becoming more clear that regardless of what the Padres do here the next three days in Washington and what they do on the weekend in Baltimore and even what they do when they get home AJ Preller is going to have to be very fast at work and try to find another starting picture for this rotation they're going to have to have a fifth guy um you know and it's so weird to me the Dodgers about an hour ago just flat out released James Paxton uh who's eight and two now Grant you as ERA is a little high it's 4.43 as whip is up there he hasn't exactly been dominant but he did have a record of eight and two and he made every start for the Dodgers he didn't miss any turns in the rotation I don't know that that's the answer what I'm saying is teams are kind of for whatever reason tight tight France was released today by the by the Mariners we saw the Phillies released with Maryfield last week he got picked up today by the Braves who are really in trouble now that Aussie albies is on the injured list there seems to be a lot without there being any trades is what I'm getting at maybe the Padres can solve their problems without having to part with anybody who knows yeah this is a possibility especially with uh with AJ you know he's he's pretty creative when it comes to these type of things I mean given that the Padres are skipping the fifth spot because it just hasn't you know gone well you know measure you know wasn't I don't think was ready doesn't mean he won't be it just wasn't ready right now and you know so they are coming up with creative ways that man the rotation but eventually the the off days won't line up and you're gonna have to have a fifth guy I don't know Paxton is the answer on that but when you consider the options you know maybe burrito is built up by that by that time yeah he's done well enough to to have an opportunity I think he was scratched recently so I got to look into that a little bit oh uh the quarter start yeah down in the minors let me go I mean maybe maybe then he maybe he I mean hopefully he's not scratched because he he was hurt hopefully he scratched because that's the idea and that maybe they're gonna give him an opportunity but you're right at some point you're gonna have to probably come up with some type of idea and I'm sure whether that's trade or burrito or you know the free agent market whatever's out there I'm sure something is going to be uh it's gonna happen yeah before we go get too giddy about James Paxton being available first of all let's be honest about it the Dodgers are not exactly loaded with starting pitching now they should have glass now coming back I think this week Kershaw is getting closer but I don't think that they would have just released this guy if they thought he was worth a damn I mean honestly the Dodgers don't have an overflow and as you look closer at Paxton he's eight and two as I said but the whip is 1.455 that's really not good he's also walked more batters than anybody in the national league he's walked 48 batters he leads the league in that category that isn't the kind of guy you know I'm dying to bring in but his career numbers are much much better than that he's 72 he's in 72 and 40 376 career ERA most of that though was built up five years ago or more so anyway that's the kind of picture that right now is out there we'll see what happens but I have information on Johnny burrito apparently it was just arm soreness so arm soreness that's okay right so oh we don't know that's not a good that's a good injury like Tyler Glass now's back injury oh all of a sudden he's better now it's back after the all-star break yeah no I don't know why they would do that in the my scrappy is so happy that he ferreted out the fact that Tyler Glass now's injury was another word that is fair it makes me feel like you warned your way in there and figured that figure you think you figured that out I don't know that you really did maybe he was really really hurt it could have been you know you don't know for sure so wait wait wait wait yeah wait what is this about glass now well when he first went on the injured when he went on the injured list scrappy immediately piped in and said this is this is just this is false fake injury it's a fake injury they had some time between he said he's gonna be right yeah they they they they sat him out before the all-star game now he's ready to go right after the all-star game so scrappy whether he's right or not he thinks he's right and let's just let him leave that so he didn't really uncover any no he didn't recover anything he he just thinks he's right he just thinks he's right and I don't I don't I don't really maybe I am a pheritor okay yeah maybe I want to tell him he's I don't want to tell him he might be wrong he's feeling really good about himself that's fair that's fair wait you you co-signed on this whole thing with me you said I think you're right scrappy think you're right yeah I did I did but I only did that because he's on my fantasy baseball team and I was upset at the time that he would have the audacity to go on the injured list oh I just lost all the alleys so that's not great um I have a question about I didn't and I don't know maybe we need to find out from like contract people but you Darvish is not being paid by the Padres does that come off of their total payroll like do they have more money to spend now because his his contract he's not being paid at the moment and he's not on the 40-man roster yeah so that money that they would have had to pay him during this month they don't have to pay he's on the restrict so restrictive one of the was a restrictive list I believe yeah the restrictiveness so my question basically is non-pay okay so my question basically is if they know for whatever reason that you Darvish is going to miss the rest of the year could they take that money and put it back into a to uh to someone or you know do a contract extension or I don't know I I want to say yes but that would that wouldn't be that I don't know I I don't honestly know if that's uh if that's against them sounds like a sounds like an interesting possibility though Scrabie I'll give you that okay thank you know maybe they could go out and sign somebody who's in control for the end of the year yes and pay them you know a little more money than they would have been able to do that or they could do like a Mike Clevenger where they signed him for his injured year yeah well let's not do a Mike Clevenger well I you just say use a better example than that sorry I'll ferret my way to a better example I'm really upset about this ferret word you use it just means digging and finding out something it's it's not a negative you're taking it as a negative as I do yes you do all right show is underway we've got a lot to get done Padres of course get it done in Cleveland we'll talk more about that looking ahead to the series against the Nationals the Nationals say that it's all over all of the bad feelings are done Dave Martinez said in the paper today he does not hold any grudges he's moved well past the entire thing the thing being the whole incident with Cabot Ruiz and Jeriksen Profar and Jesse Winker and everybody else that was involved Mackenzie Gore I guess would have to be involved in that too we'll see if any of that resurfaces over the next three days but either way the Padres are there they're getting ready to play the Nationals tomorrow in a three game series then it's Baltimore before they come on to take on the Dodgers on the program today we will do plenty of baseball of course but also going to start turning our tensions to the national football league we are less than 10 days away from the Hall of Fame game opener so it's gets right around the corner people great camera go ahead I got to get on I got to get on our fantasy leagues and make sure everybody has their their new keeper oh you know we might just want to cancel we got to make sure that Skrabie definitely has to finally get rid of Jamar Chase he's just canceled the league because then I'm the last champion that works out it's great you know that's true trophy that's just like you to win something and then not have the guts to defend it I'm defending in baseball right now I'm third seed Chris hey hey Chris you know we can just kick him out of the league I know Sam oh yeah that's right Sam really wants to join so maybe we can kick maybe we can kick Skrabie out and bring Sam in that's like firing Marty Schottenheimer after a 14 and 2 season you just can't do it yeah they did though they didn't do it they did do it turn it I walked myself in it out and uh and you know Tony is the commission if he puts it up for a vote I think your chances are kind of you know no better than 50 there he might be in trouble there champ I think one of the yellow committee needs to uh step back a little bit fine not that they're uh they're they're uh why don't they want the yellow committee they're all beatable all three of them except for your god suffer my god son Connor he's pretty good all right we are underway great Camarillo will be on to talk some football we have a monday edition of the fantabulous sports game show coming up a little later looking forward to that what out of all the regular stuff daily gambit uh chris first the fans big five until six o'clock going and chris happy to be with you thanks for being with us on a monday 97 three the fan 224 on the clock tony glenn jr chris cello matthew scravey zander shoffley ass tick for life wins another major this year my man is uh i mean listen prior to winning the first one which was remind me against great pj championship like two months ago yeah it wasn't long so aside before winning the pgh championship the kind of talk was you know close but no cigar like he had been in contention on final days and you know i don't think he ever played bad i just think he just happened to be in circumstances where dudes played really well down the stretch and he ended up losing and so uh to go from that being kind of the what's the word uh the narrative around who you are as a player uh to now having two majors in in the same same season yeah it's pretty pretty remarkable and and yesterday and i know scravey i said this to him during the break and he didn't really understand get the the idea of what i was saying i mean basically zander you know took that lead and went and hit like there no one he he was in pretty much control for uh the majority of that round it felt like the back nine for sure it was uh it was an impressive performance good let's go back to what you talked about and what the narrative is because you're right tony this is a guy that i don't think the narrative was as kind as you're even making it out to be that you know he was just in the wrong place and he lost some you know some tournaments it was like this guy is almost bordering on a choker who's never gonna win the majors never gonna be able to win the big one he's always gonna lead in the first or second round but he's always going to disappear on sunday i i think there were those that were you know that mean about it and i thought it was interesting after his round saturday which got him in the running they did a little quick visit with the uh on course interview gal with zander and she immediately said well now that you've won a major do you feel like it's all behind you and now you're confident enough in order to win one and he you could tell he was like not thrilled with that question and and that's a fair question i don't think it is a and he didn't think it was a fair question either because he didn't like the fact that that was the narrative about him that he wasn't he couldn't win the couldn't win the big one so he was mad at the person for asking the question he wasn't mad okay he wasn't mad okay you could just tell that it wasn't his all-time favorite and he he answered it by saying i don't know that's kind of not really part of this anymore i'm just in in contention i'm in good position to win this tournament and i liked his answer because it showed me that he's put all that stuff behind him he doesn't worry about you know whether he could win or whether he could ever win the big one or now that he's won the big one he didn't feel like a big monkey was off his back he just goes out and plays and that couldn't have been more you know evident than yesterday first of all scrapies told me this about zander he plays slow you know i said something in the break i never want to be repeated but he plays slow i told me something i concerned immediately zander is zander is agonizing to watch play you know what it is even if you read even if you speed up the the dvr it's like come on you know he walks up to the ball he walks back from the ball he goes over the thing he regrips like you said but when it's time to hit man he is calm and he is cool and he is on point and you know he didn't bogey won hole yesterday and he that's that's what that's hard to do on that course so to me you know throughout his career he always has come off to me as consistent like yeah that didn't necessarily mean he was like going to be in the top three or you know when the tournament but i just always when i when i do get a chance to watch and play he just seems like he's consistent he doesn't have like these crazy like you know he never ships where he's he's exactly that's a great way to put it it didn't seem like he's ever in a slump it's so it's it's pretty cool you gotta be you gotta be happy for a dude who've been on the knocking on the door for a little bit and now he's basically kicked the door off the end he's kicked it in yeah two championships i never gonna say anything negative about chauffely again nor you know should they maybe have said so much negative in the first place but you're right tony's in Aztec and for that you know you have to sorry i have a question from the tina scholar i was just saying i had i had something i didn't i was just wording you that before you go to break or something i have something but zander chauffely is no different than any golfer that came before him who hadn't won a major that had maybe choked away a few majors every golfer the next is it's the when will he win his major is he going to win his major this is not one yeah because tigers started out winning majors so i was the biggest one i can think of his film michleston yeah michleston was that guy for you know a long time and then that's the zander's zander's way younger though at this point right yeah yeah then michleston for sure for sure way younger well it was a glorious day for the Aztecs if you're an Aztec i mean for zander to win this this is fantastic i think he's you know the question that i have is i mean because the mount rush more of sandy go state athletes is pretty chiseled in stone i mean there's marshal fock right there's kawai Leonard and there's your dad tony yep not your dad's gravy but tony's dead my dad's upset about that yeah i know he is those three are pretty much chiseled in there i don't think you could ever remove any of them the fourth guy in my mind has always been a fourth athlete and there's some others who would certainly be in contention but i always thought Stephen Strasburg because of what he accomplished but with two majors in two months zander shawfully is now you know maybe getting us to rethink that we'll see where it all goes but i don't know what you think tony well how long has zander been a pro oh uh i saw him when he won um the tour channel they had over 10 years now oh yeah i mean yeah i think he said a very good thing the guys the guy was in the top five before he won these two tournaments yeah now he's you know so he was already solidified is really good he didn't come out of nowhere to win this stuff no but i think of world series mvp in a world series victory kennie and Stephen shrub if he wins a third major and a four if he wins a fourth major i think that's what that's what i was that's where i was getting at what would really like um how long has he been because i think we always are in a rush to do these yes we are but we're gonna let his career play out i mean if this dude ends up with like five six majors or something yeah he could play that long and play that type of of golf like we are just i think it doesn't disservice to have this conversation yeah this early considering how young he is yeah shouldn't have blown up Steven Shausberg's face i'm not rushing i didn't blow it up i said that we might be getting the chisels out that's all i'm saying but uh congrats to zander shawfully it was also a great day for united states golf scraping enough you're in on this but this year an american won all four majors mmm it's the first time in 42 years that that has happened wow USA USA 1982 tom watson won two okay ramen floyd okay and the fourth one that year was won by a sandy agan as well oh craig stadler oh the walrus the walrus i think he won the masters they hate did he hate the walrus he probably did it wasn't exactly a complimenter it doesn't sound like the greatest thing i can see i can see why he hated it but craig stadler but yeah that's it's been 40 years so that was cool all right let's uh let's get the break we have a great camera reel joining us next talking some NFL is that time of the year ladies and gentlemen we are getting closer and closer to NFL season i'm getting excited baseball talk some golf zander chowfully big dewins over the weekend pardres big dewins over the weekend as they uh take two or three from the al central leading guardians but uh i don't know if you can feel it out there spring is almost in the air but football's even closer than that it's only nine days until the hall of fame game so we are starting to get excited around here about the national football league joining us the former star receiver stanford university and the miami dolphins great camarilla our guy here on 97 3 the fan now working over it sandy go state with the Aztecs great how are you thanks so much by the way for bringing the gang in to see us a couple of weeks ago uh the quarterback and the two dbs uh we had a great time i hope they did too they did great thank you for for hosting them and uh showing the Aztecs what that broadcasting life is all about but uh like you mentioned man football is in the air i went on espn.com today and you know they have like the game they they bridge your mind and pick the games that you're interested in seeing they put the charters seattle pre-seeking game up there as one of the upcoming games for me to see and it got me excited for football season can't wait can't wait for sure uh let's start with the at the top of football and we'll work our way down the chiefs have now won two super bowls in a row nobody's ever won three in a row do you think the chiefs winning again would be a great thing for football or is it time for them to get knocked off their perch and if they get knocked off their perch give me a couple of teams you think could legitimately pull it off other than the forty-nineers because we know that they they're training are the chief are the gold standard when it comes to football this era much like the patriots were of the past era i don't think it's good for any sport and any team to win three consecutive championships because it's fun to see change um much like we saw uh you call men's basketball this last year to dominate two years in a row it's not as much fun as watching a new team come and at least put up a fight or win a championship so uh i will be for somebody else to come win that championship and that's nothing against the chiefs they're amazing they're great but it's more fun when we get to see things change up and that's what the NFL had going is this a league where most teams have a shot uh i think that's what makes it fun to watch apparently great doesn't like dynasties and so he wants it to be broken up immediately which sounds a little bit of a hater but it's okay as we move on that's like that's like a hater in there he had to face brady for most of his career so i think that's where it comes from i guess i could i guess i could understand that uh greg i want to ask you a little bit about the bears and katelet williams it what do you think of the roster that he's inheriting at least offensively i know he's got some weapons they're on the outside can he can he have doesn't he have a chance to thrive in his ricky season um the the short answer is yes i have not had a much of a chance to actually watch bears football in the last few years or pay much attention they're off season because they have been abysmal it's not just in fields had talent i thought that he was someone that could turn into a franchise quarterback uh in shosh he would demonstrate sparks of that but ultimately like the quarterback that's where careers have gone to die these this past decade is um that is just it's not been set up for success and when you're picking first it means because your your team has not been good but katelet williams is that guy and getting to watch him at fc uh and the confidence he plays with the maturity the poise like this is as a pro quarterback ready to play as uh as you know they mentioned i want to stand for it as andrew luck and i got getting to watch him play in college you can just see the difference between a guy that's good at college football and a guy that's ready for the pros and that is katelet williams it is uh just maturity and ability to be in the pocket uh in and make the right playing so i think he does have a chance for success well it happened right away probably not but over his time in chicago he is the guy that can turn things around there talking about the quarterback position great camryos with us and uh i just want to go back to the cheese for a half a second because it seems like the only really advantage that the chiefs have over everybody is patrick mohomes and i'm just it it doesn't seem right to me but it in a lot of ways it does because we saw what brady did and all the other quarterbacks before and after but why is it that in football which is really the ultimate team game 22 guys have to be working in concert out there that that one position the the fact that the chiefs have an edge there is why they have an edge everywhere uh absolutely and it relates to the coaching much like uh mohomes and brady they both had their coaches that are next level coaches that can take them there uh but you can't discount the value of of Travis kelsey and i'm not saying he is the sole reason they are winning championship but i got a chance to broadcast uh ucla's spring game this year and ucla's new offensive coordinators eric the enemy who spent a lot of time in Kansas city so it's talking to him like how does he teach uh the college guys that pro offense and he said we will watch a lot of films so we'll watch how we did it in practice and then we'll watch the chiefs to see and show how it's supposed to be done but i don't want my guys watching Travis kelsey because he just makes things up and so it's that combination of mohomes being an elite quarterback and Travis kelsey just being able to freestyle things in that chemistry between them much like gronk and brady where even if a play broke down they'll figure it out um so it's really that that having the coach having that quarterback but then having guys like like gronk having guys like kelsey that can go off script and just make amazing things happen and you put all that together and that's that's the magic sauce right there that's what gets you a ring great camera reel joins us here on goin and chris and and greg one of the things that came out i don't know if john harvall said it yesterday or today but he talked about lamar jackson the plan is for him to end up being the greatest quarterback to ever do it now he's obviously took some flak because he has struggled quite frankly in the post-season i mean does he have a chance this year with the additions of derrick henry in that backfield what are you what is it going to have to what are you going to have to see for from him in order for him to get over the hump in terms of getting uh this kind of playoff issue behind him yeah i mean he's i don't think he'll ever be the most uh the greatest quarterback of all time he's one of the greatest to watch one of the most fun to watch uh definitely has the most skill set as the quarterback as far as doing different things uh getting over that hump it's so hard in the nfl to to win a super bowl you look at um guys like dan marina who were one of the most epic postures in the world that never had uh a championship ring because it takes so much more around you and it also takes some luck you think of the times where brady came back twenty eight three there was some luck involved kansas city in their playoff game with 16 seconds left getting the kick off and going and getting the field goal like there's a there's a little component of luck that goes beyond just the talent the marjaxon has all the talent he's heading in the right direction they're putting those pieces around him uh but sometimes it just takes that little bit of luck to get you that that championship ring um and you know that's that's what that's what the mar seems to be missing is that that and not just for him the team around him um to get him to go to the next step kirk amaryos with us of course so one of the things that uh is exciting about the beginning of any season whether it's uh baseball football whatever uh new faces and new places and you know in the nfl it's going to take a while for everybody to catch up on who's you know running back where some of the quarterbacks have moved around obviously wide receiver signed free agent contracts but i don't think there's a bigger name that is newcomer to the nfl this year than jim harbaugh and he comes in to take over the chargers and you look at harbaugh i mean he's coming off first of all a national championship but when he was coaching the 49ers it was unreal how successful he was and people think that a lot of people i've seen think that he's already like a top five coach in the nfl just coming back he just lands that high and people think he can do it with the chargers which i have to say he's taking on a you know an amazing challenge because he's doing it with the franchise has never been able to get it done what do you know about jim i mean you know usd connection stanford connection whatever but that makes him so great yeah well first of all let me go back to your uh your name game was kind of figure out who's on what team i was listening to you and scraping try to challenge each other as to where the three agents went and it made me crack open the uh the the nfl previews try to figure out who's on what team because they just did a serious shuffle this off season uh jim harbaugh has proven destination after destination that he builds champion he started that usd uh i worked in the athletic department there he totally turned that program into a championship program uh stanford now and this is no knock them on the monitor but well it is a knock down well a mile no matter if you could turn stanford into a championship program you have the magical juke because the things he did there literally turned this the struggling program into a a team that could uh fight for a national championship um and then he left and did it with the nineers so you know it's prescribed he's probably the happiest about that so he proved he could do it at all levels of college and then he did it in the pros and then he did the exact same thing at michigan so this guy just has uh the blueprint for turning programs around now this is going to be probably his biggest talent uh challenge and it is because they lack talent the chargers have justin herbert who is an amazing quarterback and then that's it they've got rid of keena now and they've got rid of michigan they just they don't have elite talent surrounding justin herbert for him to immediately come make an impact but i'd be a fool to say he can't do it because we've seen him time and time again do it it'll be fun to watch just how quickly he can do it uh and then with what pieces you know or who are the guys that we're um used to austin eckler we're used to uh keena and allen who are going to be the guys that fill those spots but if there's one guy that can do it that's coach harvaugh for sure no doubt about it uh greg i got to ask you since you've brought the 49ers up and then scraves happiness uh bren and i uk is is unhappy right now with the uh 49ers in the contract negotiation and you know i was listening to i've heard this this kind of speak prior to listening to scraven and and chris talk about it that bren and i uk is is not an important piece to that offense now you played the wide receiver position um how important is bren and i uk to that offense he's huge uh i think he's in one piece and i'm not saying he's v piece because they have george kittle they got debo saniels uh brock pretty is the one delivering the ball but bren and i uk is one of the reasons that they went on such a run last year uh and as a wide receiver to watch him his ability to come across the middle and make huge plays is a huge to the game you have to pay attention to bren and i uk and then that gets debo saniels and that gets george kittle oka that makes a brock perdy's life easier uh it's a he's huge in their in their success now if he's 30 million dollars a year huge like he's asking probably not um but he is due to make 14 million dollars this is the last year of his rookie deal and they still have the ability to franchise tag him after that so i personally don't think he's leaving i have no problem with a man spending the offseason going into contract negotiations because that's his time you know he's 26 years old this is his prime chance to get money go ahead and get you know you get that money man get that bag but um i think he'll be a niner again hopefully they can find a way to um make some room in the salary cap form they're fine this year coming up but in future years they've got some issues with the salary cap and you know they they found uh mr a relevant brock perdy and a franchise quarterback who's making pennies to everyone else in the dollars pennies everyone else is millions of dollars uh so they got to capitalize now they you know they're they're gonna have to pay him at some point yep yep so they they got to go for it now and if there's a way to get bren and i uk uh happy and get him money and get him out on that field he is definitely needed for a championship run greg we got a couple minutes left i want to use all the minutes scrabies rolling his eyes i mean i go hey chris we only got one minute until we're out and he's like oh so what i wanted to do is thank you for coming on oh come on i know there's a question at this point i've already moved everything talk to you next week here you go ask your question first ask your question i got nothing for ask your question just keep talking angers crazy how about that all right in as many words as you can no from 2006 to 12 when you played 12 years now how has the national football league possibly gotten more popular than when you were there because it was huge then but it seems like it's bigger than ever now taylor swift no just kidding i would say that that's the difference gambling was not uh embraced when when i was playing um and now that is such a huge component of the game for everyone to be able to well most people depending on your state to be able to gamble on the game uh you've gotten so popular and even some NFL players are gambling on their own agenda so that that is a huge component of the game and it's helped bring in money it's helped bring in visibility uh it's helped getting guys like brand and i use these bigger contracts well done greg we got to go right now can't even say goodbye because gravy is getting coming out of his ears thanks greg we appreciate it as always good catching up to you all right you know what's funny is i i just caught just i just see the look on his face i just caught him like putting his head up to the ceiling and i wasn't a hundred percent sure because i got the end of it i was like i wonder is this because chris is asking was it chris was it worth it it was actually a decent question it was a decent question i don't know anything but decent question i mean yeah it's two foot hour number two quickly ahead yes indeed hour number two here on gwen and chris tony gwen jr chris solo match scravey cruise along with you for another three hours pajamas all off today back in action tomorrow in the nation's capital against the washington nationals uh things uh got a little testy last time these two teams matched up at petco park uh it ended well for the pajamas let's just say say as much and yeah right it looked like they've they'll look to continue what has been a pretty a successful start to uh a the longest road trip of the season yeah great start obviously getting the uh two out of three in cleveland tony and you know the nationals date martinez uh was in the paper today here and saying that you know this whole whatever nastiness happened last time is behind him they're not thinking about it they're moving on you know that always remains to be seen but don't you think if you're the pajres even though it really would be kind of enticing i think to at least throw one pitch at kebert reweez's ankle that you just let it's sleeping dog lie if you're the pajres because i think so you know you beat them the first time why rile them up they just swept the series from since an adi so they're feeling a little better about things but why you're in your underman you know they're a little underman so what just try to go out and beat them that's the best way to keep things you know in your favor keep stacking keep stacking series victories that's that should just remain the goal i mean you know and if the things were different you know maybe but i think right now you got good just took two or three from a very good guardians team as you said the the nationals come in feel it pretty good about themselves too as they just swept the series they played in so yeah you got to come in you know off out of this off day um you know ready to hit the ground running well it'll be uh Vasquez tomorrow washington uh has not decided at least that's what it says here on their starting picture tomorrow so we'll have to wait and see what dave martinez does matt walter and we write back at it on wednesday followed by dylan cease on thursday that's a morning game by the way thursday morning and uh so i don't know that we never morning for us yeah i think it starts at like nine o'clock thursday morning really here in san diego yeah let me let me let me double check it yeah so yeah nine oh five san diego time on uh on thursday uh so yeah there's that you know one thing that's happened in the last six games the three before the all-star break three here in cleveland don't think anybody's mentioned it but i did see a tweet about it so i'm going to bring it up zander bo guards is eight for seventeen since coming off the injured list set the ground running you know hasn't had maybe the big fly or anything like that but you know his he's back i think that in and itself five multi five multi hit games is that what he's going to be in back yeah five so five out of six i mean that's okay right i mean so that's good uh and we talked about the overriding thing with zander back is that it gives you your best defense and you're talking about winning a two-one game in cleveland yesterday tony please correct me if i'm wrong but the biggest play of the entire day unfortunately as good as michael king was was not michael king it was manny mochado going up to meet that throw and throwing out remira's trying to get into second base to me that was the game right there because otherwise it got second if there's nobody out yeah it's a it's a huge play and although the guardians did get that run in from third yeah uh they they had they only had that opportunity there was no more opportunities after that because right uh manny came off came up the to meet that throw from that's right if he waits for and he's got no chance he ultimately saved for altar for making uh uh i mean what would have been a bad mistake trying to even attempt to throw out i forget who it was going to third but manny coming up and meeting that throw and then getting remira's on the back side to cut him down it was huge it was a huge huge play uh that and and what ended up being a one-run game i absolutely love plays like that that win games and yeah you know we talk about it all the time errors are you know in the books it happens but it's plays that are made versus plays that are not made that decide close to one games like that and that was a play that was made by manny so yeah beautiful job uh hagash yoka came up with a big hit uh you know second and third two outs i always find those to be the most important at bats of any baseball game because they're two run at bats you guy gets a hit you get two runs he gets out you get zero and two strikes i will say that the pitch probably wasn't exactly where uh lively wanted it but hagash yoka still had to rake it into the left field corner and bring in those runs and you know i'm just got to be happy for a guy like that tony right that comes in as a throw in in the trade and i want so to hit two home runs today so let's not forget what he's still doing for new york but michael king hagash yoka Vasquez skies have been pretty invaluable coming back here to san diego yeah and it makes it makes you wonder you know based on how the rosser ended up being constructed that he certainly wasn't a throw in i mean he certainly wasn't the the highlight of the deal but yeah they they started the year with two catchers and um he was the guy the backup all along it was it was never a question in doubt um and i think we know from having the last couple of years how you know having a a good backup or a backup in general ultimately come into play it has apologies over the past however many seasons now so uh i i think obviously the bonus is is him picking it up offensively right at the time where uh louise had slowed down and even gotten hurt at that point he stepped right in and it couldn't have come at a better time the bottom has been very fortunate the last two seasons with the catcher spot and then at pockets of time like picking it up exactly when it needed it i think uh last year it was uh the sand chase it was sanchez gary sanchez came and read all the homers you know like eight homers and like the first like 15 games or something ridiculous like that yeah well gosh yorka keeps it up and uh that's keeping campusano kind of on the bench although he had a nice game on saturday which was good to see a couple of hits and a couple of rbis and our guy swarez continues to uh shut the door as he did yesterday another four out save you know for him real quick you know what's been impressive is is and we've talked about it at different times is the guys who have been asked to step up have stepped up like peralta you know hit him all of a sudden starting to swing the bat better i mean uh it just seemed that's and that's why they've been able to despite missing the guys if they're missing been able to stay afloat is and this is this is why you know i am positive it's so and so positive about them because they're doing it right now without all of their pieces but they're still finding ways to win i don't know that we've been able to say that in the past like if everybody was hurting it was a lot harder for these wins to come by and you know i think a lot of it right now is due to their pitching but nonetheless they're still they're still finding ways to win game right now agreed mike silt stay afloat mike silt is uh you know keeping this club right there they're in a three-way tie that virtual three-way tie with the Mets and the Diamondbacks for the final two playoff spots the cart you know and another thing we talked about the Braves earlier uh i think it's been kind of just conceded that the Braves were going to get the first wild card this year but you look up now they're only four games podrays and they now lose aussie albies for two months which is almost the rest of the season they've already got you know a kunya out they've got strider outs and max free goes on the injury list today that's four right that's four big time all-star players i think the Braves could very well you know be joined in this race by the rest of these teams and that could open up you know all three wild card spots so it means to be seen but yeah i don't think you can just to automatically admit it land into the postseason right now got too many guys hurt now so and that's and you know a lot listen we we talk about it too like it yes you you need a good team you need guys to play well you need some luck too you need help too like yes like all these things like half to happen and it's not just health you gotta be healthy at the right time right it does you know good if you were you know not healthy all year long and then come on to august september you you're all everybody's hurt like that's that's not necessarily the way you want to script it you have to be healthy you got to be healthier the right time and you got to need some luck and you got to be good and so we'll see at the positive with i guess the Padres would offer you uh you guys got any games to we got any games to bet today the daily gambit is tough because there's baseball but there is nothing else so yeah i think we could just what do you want to do scrape oh we can get rid of it it's fine get rid of it all right get rid of it i got some games but there's nothing's really interesting Blake snell's pitching against the Dodgers tonight it's about the most interesting thing i could come up with on the daily gambit yeah that's not worth a segment in my opinion so really yeah wow really what happened like did we did we always struggle with daily dare in baseball season well we did a little bit but you know like right now is the worst usually we've got some uh no NBA we've at least got some WNBA or we've got some MLS they're all on hiatus right now everybody's high editing for the olympics hi you see yeah everybody's singularity so that's ferriting high editing it's all going on right now before our very eyes because the olympics start on Friday so yeah i'm looking forward to live i'm looking i'm looking forward to tracking field for the olympics i'm looking forward to uh it's really what i'm looking forward to most well i'm looking forward to the breaking the breaking the break dancing is break dancing i forgot about that it's not break dancing guys sorry breaking sorry i know your terminology do you think mike tareco is going to just slay on you know what i'm going to do in commentary i'll tell you one thing what i'm going to do for two weeks is pissing moan about mike tareco's again i already feel it is that i like tareco fam i couldn't stand him on the uh the open championship yesterday it seemed like every time one of the commentators to get a nice groove going tareco would chime in with something dumb like him uh he is everywhere though i got to say he is and he is everywhere he don't want to show that's chris is that's chris's guy too much tareco and here's the reason i don't like him it's simple it's not even his broadcasting ability because he's obviously good enough to do what he does it's his arrogance in broadcasting i can't i don't like people you can feel it coming through the tv it's as if mike tareco gets on the microphone and says hi i'm better than you and here we go that just annoys me to no end you're talking about america sweetheart that would be a good that would be a good sketch right there like a good comedy sketch like it it's just a it's just chris sitting in front of his tv and we're getting to hear what is actually being said but in chris's head he is telling him exactly those words yeah i have an idea here for a while i do get in the next couple weeks by the way by the way i'm in the probably the minority of people who really like the fact that chris collinsworth never shuts up on sunday night football or is it monday night no sunday sunday yeah i love the fact that collinsworth never shuts up on sunday night football because that's the only thing that keeps tareco quiet for a minute oh well this guy right here he's a football player oh excuse me let me duck in there chris and show you how smart i am first before you can send you your commentator please i would like to break down this play i i i i i owe it to chris collinsworth for at least keeping him off the air sometimes thank you chris you guys are too funny all right now that you've come in that direction speaking of the olympics i want to do something about your basketball team tony or lebron james you know men's olympic team what was that over the weekend they made me what's wrong they had some close calls close calls they played south shudan it's not actually a win unless they win by 20 so oh oh i didn't think it was he will talk about it all right see we on that now yes we let's uh let's get to break we'll talk about some of the uh usa basketball uh what do you guys want to call me issues i guess you guys want to call transgressions transgressions more on usa basketball transgressions with great and nice returns here's some traffic i want the back to win and chris coming up at the bottom of the hour another edition of chris's fantabulous sports game show kris takes your camera yeah i fix your camera sorry guys i was going to point but he was looking down at his sheet i want to tell you one thing today's fantabulous sports game show scrape you know how i do this once in a while i don't like when you do this it puts a lot of pressure on me pick a scrapey to win i knew it is good this is a category that's scrapey proof no can't mess this up no you'll you can mess it up but i i think i finally found a category that that tony's not going to have you know just as usual never miss a question i mean is it alcohol types because i am an expert in that i have to i have to share this with you guys yeah you know occasionally uh at our stops uh different organizations will have like the great broadcasters that you know came through there or the great broadcasters of all time dodgers have one um we uh obviously where do we just leave cleveland cleveland we just left cleveland cleveland has a kind of hall of fame of broadcasters okay i'm about to be i'm about to be very childish right now but i'm going to put this i take a picture because i thought i i knew i didn't want to share it with you guys all right and i want a scrapey i want you to read this to our our folks out there oh you i need to i can't just read off of your screen oh let me scrapey who is that a picture of there can you see oh i can't repeat that i can't okay yo you gotta turn your phone back on man's name i know his name that's his name his name is gordon put it down a little bit uh i don't think you cobbledick it's i'm just trying to make sure i got it 100 right before he's in the cleveland hall of fame of broadcasters gordon unless the chimey the folks the she bit yeah gordon cobbledick wow is a human okay that's so he took a picture knowing that i was going to love every second that's so funny tony's like i'm gonna be childish right now i don't think he realized just how childish she was gonna be i'll just know i i did know because we my guy uh mudcat grant and and myself and dani and and jesse had a good little laugh of that because i hadn't seen it they had all seen it before and i just it just caught me off the line uh someone on the chat tyler actually said it's a good thing his that first letter of his last name is not a g instead of a c yes yes he isn't much better but oh see it's way better than g let me tell you i just think it's the end of his last name that gives him a little bit of uh a little problem it's like um you know what we haven't heard much from our guy dick pound he we haven't heard from him in a while because usually olympic time is dick pound time that's a real name guys it's coming up it's coming up speaking of the olympics let's get off of this before we dissipate into further trouble uh the men's olympic basketball team uh a lot of people are calling it the greatest collection of olympic stars ever and i think that they should you know pump the brakes on that a little bit especially after saturday's performance they took on south sudan in a olympic prep game the united states was favored according to bet m gm by 43 and a half points so imagine our surprise when we looked up at half time and they were down 14 in a game they were favored by 43 and a half LeBron James would ultimately hit a shot near the end of the game and they would hold on for a 101 to 100 victory now the reason that i'm finding fault with this is because a little bit of the arrogance of the united states basketball team but i'm not a fan of what they did to kawaii Leonard and they don't have a problem having a spot for kevin doran who's been injured and hasn't been able to play i don't think that they did right by jailin brown either who i think is a deserving player and i just wonder if they put together the best possible squad um and but mostly it's the fact that the united states has been called this is the greatest collection of talent of all time jason tatum labron james i think the dream team will always have that well that's my point people are comparing it to the dream team i don't think you can compare it to the dream team now on the one argument that i'll give this year's team and what they're all trying to get us to believe now is that the rest of the world has apparently caught up and so these other countries unlike 1992 when the dream team beat everybody by 60 points they're much better but south sudan like that just threw me off tony uh i i mean it sounds like you need convincing that the world has has gotten better is that what it is maybe i need a little convincing that south sudan should be able to play on the same stages united states that a couple with that a couple nba guys on their didn't they dead one everyone all right they had one i don't know who was honestly i don't think it was yeah our former nba i'm not sure uh i mean listen that ultimately they won these are warm up games i'm not sitting here saying that uh south sudan is uh is is all of a sudden a basketball powerhouse and should be respected uh you know in that fashion but you know i think ultimately you know there wasn't a good they didn't play well and so the game ended up closer than it should have been and LeBron oh gee LeBron had to bail him out as he kind of did today as they took on germany and and ended up winning uh i think it ended up winning by four but yeah i won by four a day i think in some ways and you know this let me say this outside from south sudan who uh ended up making that game pretty close i think it's just a evidence that the world is catching up and they can't just show up and we're both you know steam both steam roll a bunch of these these teams anymore it does not that hasn't been the case for quite some time but south sudan is is a little bit is a little probably not one of those teams here's my thing tony and i this is you know i'm on my lawn again where i spend far too much time but i think it has a lot to do with the fact that the guys they choose for the olympic team that there's no glue guys on the team everybody is a score first and i don't know if jason tatum or devin booker or even curry for that matter necessarily lead the league defense and do the kinds of things necessary to win games we talk about the fact that the rest of the country's you know closing the gap to me i think they need to do a better job of putting together an actual team rather than just the 15 leading scores i don't think they did that i think that is the argument that a lot of people i like gilbert arenas are are making is that they didn't take the best guys they tried to put the best team that fit together and you know i don't know that glue guys have anything to do with it because the dream team's original dream team started to have any glue guys they had a bunch of no but they were so much but they were so much better that's my i think now even the redeem team that that won at all they certainly didn't have a glue guy i mean they had virtually a lot of these same dudes that are on this team now and the young versions at the these i recall the last time they got ready for an olympics they had some close calls early too and then as they got closer and closer to the actual olympics they started to kind of look a little bit better and more like a team it's these guys haven't played all that much time i fully expect it gets to where it needs to be all right uh you want to know how the world is catching up Chris in the top 10 of the mba draft this year in the first round the first two picks were from france australia and then there's another guy from france and the number six pick so a lot more international players being drafted high who shot do you want anyway i'm on the u_s_a_ side but not they're gonna play like that they're gonna play like well they play serbia in their first olympic game uh july 28th what's that next sunday at eight eight fifteen a.m is that uh yokech that'll be their first game serbia i don't know that's yokevitch but he doesn't play basketball oh wow that's i'm getting the teeth yeah i don't think it's just yes confused uh they play serbia they play south sudan they play portorico their first three games they are 16 and a half point favorite over serbia for whatever that's worth maybe it'll be interesting maybe it'll be more interesting it looks like it's going to be more interesting than it ever has been before say that all right all right we got chris's fantabulous sports game show get geared up for a good round of that next on twin and chris six thirty seven on the clock here in dc three thirty seven there and sunny sandy agotone i think it's sunny i assumed it was the sunny yeah it's nice it's a little worn actually yeah pretty good i surprised you guys got a little it was like a heat wave coming into that bad boy and there are saturday was hot saturday was really hot like got into the 90s out in the uh in the valley yes saturday it went for hiking in it was warm i had to uh change shirts halfway through definitely warm yeah but so so wait wait how did the hike go wait are you supposed are you supposed to be hiking there i took it easy yes i i'm seeing my surgeon actually tomorrow for my six week check up on my shoulder so we'll see i hope i hope scraping doesn't mind me sharing this with everybody but you know he has been um how shall we say this a little more agitated as he uh was going through his shoulder recovery uh felt like it should be healing faster and it wasn't and he would uh you know he had he had about a week stretch there where he was he was not a very happy person no no no i tacked tony during text messaging with him i didn't really understand that one that day i was just like because we know each other so well by now all three of us that if a text is in any way different than the normal text we immediately know that someone's angry and so we deal with it and i was just like okay fine when can you do it then he was pressing me and i and i can sense i can sense he was upset i didn't know it was his shoulder i was bothering him at the time but i can sense he was upset and so i just tried to play along as best i could and eventually the options that i presented him weren't satisfying so he just kind of left it alone and then he eventually admitted to well tony disarmed me because he said hey man is everything okay and i was like all right i was a jerk now i don't understand how a shoulder being sore can cause you to write a mean text though i don't get the connection he was in pain yes he's in pain and i was angry that morning i get it i was frustrated with whatever was going on in my life that day and so i took it out on tony for for a text it is it's a test of it to really how much how will we know each other yes i it was a meeting as i oh yeah it's dude he's and i will say this day i will say this tony singularly reached out to me asking me if i was okay and he he even called me to see if i was okay so that is the type of guy tony is chris on the other hand didn't hear one word for me well i'm not gonna i'm not gonna be in texas somehow i didn't really get it i will say this because someone sent me a dm i think you're not dm debra on uh twitter she posted this thing about how chris when i was sick was saying that i was helping more at home than i ever did when i was here and they thought he was making fun of me chris did text me after the show thanking me for the help i did at home so everybody we're all very was the work copacetic should be all right we have we have stalled long enough for his butt whooping that's coming no you said some nice things about me but let's get to let's get to the action please hey all you beautiful people out there it's time to play one of our favorite games of the week all right we like to call it oh i'm gonna go chris is fantabulous sports game show it starts right now on nine seven three the fan all right welcome to it a special monday edition of the fantabulous sports game show normally played on tuesday's but we have a very short show tomorrow gonna be like 45 minutes long tomorrow so i thought we'd get a uh fantabulous sports game show it's been a while since uh tony's taken scrapie down uh in this game now you can play along out there see how well you do um and it's a monday themed category today since it's a monday what does that even mean well you're gonna find out in just a second you're gonna find out oh monday night football indeed tony was on to it they it's getting into its 55th year wow monday football is there are 14 which is just under half of the teams in the nfl that have won 30 or more monday night football games geez it is your job to name those teams uh you have to use a little bit of strategy here teams that play the most better teams maybe but name the 14 nfl teams that have won 30 or more monday night football games over the years uh you need eight correct answers to win or three strikes and you're out scrapie you want to go first or second or do you just want to give up the game before we start and save yourself the agony no this is a very interesting category um how long is 55 years 55 years 70 well there are a couple east coast teams that seem to be on every single week all right but i'm gonna start with the Dallas Cowboys you're gonna go first then yes Dallas Cowboys have won 51 monday night football games all right scrapie that is correct that is the third most of all the teams in the national football they've won 51 all right tony we're underway name a team that's won 30 or more monday night football games 49ers 49ers have won 52 one more than to cowboys they are second on the all-time list it's one to one there are 12 correct answers remaining mr. scrapie let's go with the Eagles really yes why because they're on almost every week some primetime game you think all right remember this is 1970 it started the Eagles were awful back then but they probably played 30 games in the last three years somebody in a football they have 42 so that is correct answer why you do that six correct yes why just didn't know why you the Eagles just seem like a strange guess really yeah it's not one of the great all-time franchises okay i didn't know okay but anyway uh tony you're up two to one scrapie leads uh my about the raid they're on my list they're on my list the raiders used to own monday night football that is a change somewhat over the last many years but with 45 wins they have the fourth most monday night victories did you give me the wind totals again cowboys had that mean uh cowboys had 51 49ers had 52 philadelphia had 42 the raiders had 45 okay you're missing number one number five and then the rest at this point but it's only four correct answers scrapie who you'd like to go with here what shot in the dark do you want to take this time that look if looks could kill by the way i would have been off the show years ago chris is how many wins that have 30 or more 30 or more all right yes uh i'm gonna say the stealers the Steelers how would you like to know that that is number one oh okay number 156 monday night football victories for the Steelers lots of benrofflisberger well they had a guy named terry bradshaw before that who said is 50 50 what 56 Steelers are number one they have the most uh so you guys have gotten five of the top six so far tony's turn tony's turn guess the team with how about 30 or more hmm so good and it didn't catch yourself you're like how about the uh stop it scrapie scrapie your bad news man let's go to packers the pack it's time up or what yeah time's up he said the packers that is correct they have 40 40 monday night victories for the pack so you guys uh with six correct answers total you have named six of the first seven and then the rest of the teams after that and there are eight correct answers to go scrapie there's only one that's in the top half that is like you don't have to guess them i'm just giving you that for i know the Patriots were bad for a long time but i'm going to say because tom brady they probably are on three or four times per year right i'm going to go with tom or they tom brady and we go with the Patriots you know the Patriots yes yeah Patriots have played on monday night football 57 times that's not good so they'd have to win at least 30 of them yeah they won 29 give yourself a strike scrapie strike one it's not officially a strike until i hear scrapie thank you i am beside myself right now i missed by one yeah the only the greatest franchise of all time well that didn't qualify in this category i think you answered that yourself there buddy early yeah they were really really awful before the brady days so remember this goes all over that to 1970 so 55 years of monday night football tony you're up it's three three but scrapie has a strike oh how about the bears the bears dog bears 38 for the bears oh yeah that's the winner they are eighth on the list guys have now named seven of the top eight and and tony has his first lead of the contest four to three it is up to you scrapie with a strike in hand what about what about what about the cults cults andrew lok by manning regi wade marvin Harrison only 46 appearances for the cults oh no yeah they don't get on that often what are you talking about just giving you the answers they got 25 wins i'm done with it i'm leaving strike two i guess we'll have to do our own buzzer here hang on he's honestly out of the studio ladies and gentlemen i don't know what we're gonna do i my guy has left he left the studio he did not leave the building thank goodness because we need to stay on the i needed to scream and explain it in the hallway cults at 25 so you've missed two yeah i'm aware thank you there's still seven correct answers tony for you to choose from these are the all-time winningous teams on monday night football how about the m i a dolphins thank you tony showing a little respect for the dolphins dolphins have been on the third most times oh man i love the cleol lemon days those are great they weren't on very much in those days but with 80s they actually have a losing record they're 43 and 44 but that is enough to qualify in this category wait two mini games for them and the uh tony win takes a five three lead okay there's six correct answers left i will tell you that every one of the final answers has between 30 and 33 wins so it's right down to the nitty gritty here scribe you need to uh you need to make me need to make me look good i thought you were gonna you know yeah have some success in this category me too patriots is the answer to everything not this one um another team that plays a lot on money at football would be the new york giants the new york giants i at this point i've already lost so 52 appearances for the giants okay at least some decent numbers oh no i take it back i take it back oh gosh no you're not going to believe this 80 appearances for the giant and they it better not be 80 they're on there they've only won 27 are you serious they're 27 50 and three they have actually three ties but they've only they've had the worst winning percentage of any team on monday night football all right you can pick a math you can pick big man what was it 27 27 and 50 the giants are just awful on monday night football are the chiefs on that list yes they are oh of course they are here's on my list here are the Vikings on that list yes they are here's the here's the here's the ones you missed denver 33 on it on the list kansas city 33 on it on my list washington 33 no i have that one rams 33 minnesota 32 and then the team with the best winning percentage did anyone know this probably not too many people knew the team of the best winning percentage with a record of 31 and 12 there's a cardinals the seattle seahawks i can see that 31 and 12 very good for the seahawk at p carol time certainly helped yes it did it seems like plus i'm just thinking in my mind i don't recall the seahawks ever playing a road game on monday night football yeah they used to play in the always playing them all the time yeah it seems like they're always at home on monday night so maybe that is something to do with it yeah that's pretty amazing scrappy that you got the patriots giants and the cults right there three legendary teams have been in the league for the entire time and legendary like that they've been in the league for the entire time the money i football has been airing and they can't do it and you thought the eagles was the crazy yes man that was right yeah then 42 another another god you find a way to lose it every time i didn't find a way to lose this one yes you did you guess three wrong answers in a row that's impressive i think all three of those teams were good guesses evidently not uh real quick uh i'm going to give a shout out shout out to my little cyst oh we you know what we were uh definitely lacks in not bringing this up much earlier yes but no i want to give a give a shout she did the she sang the national anthem at the dollar fame yesterday as uh Todd Helton and Jim Leland and uh Adrien Belltray uh missing one right who else uh joe mower joe mower yeah joe mower as they went and she sang the national anthem so she did a terrific job co-sis do your thing man i love it more than that mama and derby one already yeah where was she last money actually you know my a group we talked about that like how because i've done a million embarrassing things but i can't even imagine waking up the next day with the entire world making fun of you like literally every internet meme is about you and how bad you are to the national anthem that'd be terrible now next time you need a monday night or i mean a monday night or on a monday night you need a national anthem singer tony gwen's daughter tony gwen jr sister she's good i've heard her before she sounded really good there really is a good person yeah that's awesome she did her thing for sure congratulations all right thank you let's get to break for a clock hour on the other side that means chris versus the fans eight three three two eight eight oh nine seven three if you want to play halfway home on a monday we welcome you into the four o'clock hour gwen and chris on sandy goes number one sports talkstation ninety seven three the fan chisela tony gwen jr and the uh disgruntled matt scrapie he spent the entire commercial break tony bitching and moaning about my crackers i heard him i heard him because he's carrying on he's still upset that the patriots were not on the monday night football list of winners you know i i i've never seen a guy be unluckier at guessing but at the same time react with such anger he actually walked out of the studio like 20 feet out of the studio he didn't just stick his head out the door tony he shut the door behind him in anger let me scrape scravey you know has these meltdowns that was a moment often that was a melton yeah i mean this is this is part of his dna and now he's trying to blame his lack of success on my crackers well the crackers are always going to be um somewhere i go if i'm angry just because it's it's a it's a go-to anger point of mine he got here's what he said to our friend greg rannieri from uh one of our sister stations here he said to greg i hate it when people do the same thing every day isn't that the definition of insanity and greg said no and sanity is doing the same thing in expecting a different result yeah and i told greg to get out of the room because he's not needed here any doing the same thing is just a habit that's all i got and i pointed out the room like like tantrums i mean the that is a habit yeah and greg then then greg rannieri got uh scravey's wrath although he did agree with me that those crackers are some of the worst things on earth so we didn't even taste one so i don't see how he can make an official designation on that he says they taste it plastic it's not tasty them i've never given greg rannieri one of my crackers nor will i ever give you another one even if you're never starving and haven't eaten for three days i might i might gag if i even come close to eating you know what we need to do is first of all try to talk a little more about sports today but okay uh tony i think i want to run this volume i think every week we ought to have a 15-minute segment on world rugby the reason i think this is because i went to the match here the other night that was the uh all blacks from New Zealand playing fiji in rugby at snapdragon stadium tony gwen jr take a take a guess at the crowd friday night for this match i'd believe it was just a friendly as it were uh attendance you mean attendance give me an attendance guess uh tenth out yeah tenth out i thought would that be good how about thirty three thousand two hundred and seventeen yeah right unbelievable it was jam-packed and what a snap dragon look like that's awesome it was awesome yes and that was cool as you know i was on the field because well you didn't know i don't know if you're here this hallway where those are pictures i saw yes part of my duties for the rugby match my wife basically dragged me into was unfurling the big gigantic flag on the field before the game and that was quite the duty i gotta be we had to get there four hours before the game to practice that oh hey hey scrape tell me tell me that the first time you saw that pictures it didn't look like christmas flying away oh yeah it was i i briefly looked at the pictures because i think you texted those pretty early in the morning and so i think i woke up saw i went back to sleep or something and then yeah i was like what is this he's sending me okay well the first the first picture i sent you i was actually one of the underneath guys holding up the flag yes that's the one it looks like he's flying away yes i'm underneath the flag and it's quite heavy and it weighs down on your arms and head when you're holding it underneath but for the second uh in the actual game unveiling of the flag i was one of the runners which mean i had to concern myself with lifting my knees which was your suggestion don't trip and did not fall but it was pretty cool i was out on the field waving the flag there and the whole thing and 33 000 people and there was a fly over but we we did take a little walk around the stadium to kind of gauge some of the fans at least 20 000 of the fans all had uniforms on like the jerseys of the team these were dedicated fans wow they were really into this rugby so maybe we're missing the mark here i don't know huh that sounds pretty cool seeing snap dragon oh it was full that packed it was full it was fun i don't uh i don't know i mean i need to go to a legion game everybody tells me legion games are really fun and i hear they're fun too that's our local rugby team which by the way lost yesterday in the semi-finals of the season so they missed out on their trip to the final but people told me that those games you know draw five to seven thousand people which is kind of what i expected for this boy was i wrong boy was i wrong all right let's get to some crispers the fans chance for you to be qualified for a trip to the real las vegas including a two-night stay dinner for two and a day bed at the real pool the real las vegas is back new ownership newly remodeled rooms for sparkling new pools and a brand new food hall all ready for you now now on 97 three the fan all right do we we didn't know we did not play this on friday so i replenish the questions chris and i got some pretty tough question number three is i'm just gonna put that out there also have a few elementary school history science style questions in there because i ran out of easy sports questions so be aware of that as well in all cases out there do your very best to figure out the question before answering it as part of the game you have to make it through three questions each question will get more difficult if you get the question right you move on if you get it wrong and chris gets it right you're eliminated but if chris gets wrong and you move on to the next question or you win if you're a first time play let us know before you get into it and you'll get the first question for free today all right let's go to anthony hello anthony yes not you how are we doing guys good good how are you anthony i'm doing good thank you very much i'm uh i'm a first time player first time all right we go to question number two here we go right to it thanks by the way for being a first time yes anthony yes we like to welcome new people to the game uh what team has the highest batting average in baseball right now uh goodness um i guess i would go with oh let me go with the pod race i guess pod race pod race stay there though anthony stay there i was gonna get the poders are way up there though i think and team batting average i would have guessed the poders how about the fillies anthony is still uh no good let's go actually you know the the Padres are first in the nationally yes yes yes the Padres are hitting at a 260 clip as they say yes uh the Houston Astros are hitting at a 261 clip really yes the last rows they they're not last anymore i never first row have a uh have a cycle yesterday or this weekend is that a big four for four game but i don't know if you had a side how did that guy get a triple i've seen that dude run like how does that happen ball rolls around thanks christ all right question number two no question number three anthony here we go here we go here we go in pod race history only two players have hit three home runs in a game twice oh my god name both of them three home runs in a game twice got to name them both both doggy i'll give you a little no oh yeah yeah yeah let's you know oh no no i was gonna give you a little bit extra time just because this is a little bit difficult so he's giving you extra time okay he's not giving you a hint because he's mean that way he's upset because the Patriots weren't on the Monday night list i mean i i have no idea that's fine i feel like i got i got what what what i was gonna guess yeah you gotta get going oh my god he's in such a mood right now you don't even want to know i'll give you uh i'll give you tachys and i'll give you um i'll give you tachys and i'll give you man i guess let's just go with mani i don't know jeezy couldn't wait to budge stay there anthony because i have i think i know who one of them is okay well i think fernando's one of them but i could be wrong so i'm gonna go with fernando and i think the other's nate colbert but it could be ken kennedy i'm gonna go with nate colbert and fernando wow anthony winner your first time your first time all right joni two tough questions that's a fair question though right yeah it's a fair question sure it's feeling to have in one of them no who wasn't i actually okay i'm gonna tell you the other guy first he's not the other guy anyway steefinley is wow oh yeah it's hard to come up with uh the other guy is hunter refrow can you name both of his three home run games no fernando's only done at once fernando's only done at once okay there you know i can't oh one of them was in colorado the only reason i know that is because i was working the game here on the board and the padre is it was like a 15 to 11 game and you hit three home runs and it was like 13 innings or something like that and then um i was hoping you guys one of you guys would know it because i was this the last game of the season they did the other one uh no i'm not sure about that i'm not gonna say the other until i actually look it up i thought it was wait i i know he did it twice i know he did it twice but all right where did you research this question oh we have to start asking that or is it actually written somewhere that you know you're right statin so baseball reference i've been using okay um maybe the dodgers against the dodgers was did you hit three home runs on that mother's day game or was that just the game winning home run i don't remember okay on mother's day he hit a grand slam to win the game against kenley jansen i remember that yeah which by the way have you guys seen mookie betson kenley jansen talking about how they hate it when people call their world series title of micky mouse world series yeah i would hate it too yeah they said it was the hardest thing for them to to win anyway we have the audio if we want to play it later anyway antony is the winner of christmas the fans today because uh i got both questions wrong scrabby's probably very happy he back and and he backed his way into the title on that one yeah he did but i always want to say i'm kind of glad because maybe this will put scrabby in the little better mood did you hear how fast he buzzed the poor guy like he could yeah he buzzed him quick it was like Fernando Tatisse and i'll say manny much better yeah he's he's in his fields today he's definitely in his field i've been good i've been a good moon guys you are not well i was until that's stupid patreon's thing the one i just thought i'd go all right it's okay patreon's they were only good in the ninth that's what two thousands and two thousand tens and the first well but there's a mean but the money they football goes all the way back so freaking what the 60s 1970s 70s sorry i finally researched what the other game was thank god it them i'm just giving you that for i know the Patriots were bad for a long time but i'm going to say because tom brady they probably are on three or four times per year right i'm going to go with tom or the tom brady and we go with the Patriots you know the Patriots yes yeah Patriots have played on monday night football 57 times that's not good so they'd have to win at least 30 of them yeah they won 29 give yourself a strike scrappy strike one it's not officially a strike until i hear scrappy thank you i'm beside myself right now i missed my one yeah that only the greatest franchise of all time well that didn't qualify in this category i think you answered that yourself there buddy early yeah they were really really awful before the brady days so remember this goes all out of that to 1970 so 55 years of monday night football tony you're up it's three three but scrappy has a strike oh how about the bears the bears doh bears doh bears 38 for the bears oh yeah that's the winner they are eighth on the list guys have now named seven of the top eight and and tony has his first lead of the contest four to three it is up to you scrappy with a strike in hand what about what about what about the cults cults andrew luck by manning regi wade marvin harrison only 46 appearances for the cults oh no yeah they don't get on that offense what are you talking about just giving you the answers they got 25 wins i'm done with it i'm leaving strike two i guess we'll have to do our own buzzer here hang on he's honestly out of the studio ladies and gentlemen i don't know what we're going to do my guy has left the field he left the studio he did not leave the building thank goodness because you need to stay on the i needed to scream and explain it in the hallway cults at 25 so you've missed two yeah i'm aware thank you there's still seven correct answers tony for you to choose from these are the all-time winningest teams on monday night football how about the m i a dolphins thank you tony showing a little respect for the dolphins dolphins have been on the third most times though man i love the cleo lemon days those are great they weren't on very much in those days but with 80 sets they actually have a losing record they're 43 and 44 but that is enough to qualify in this category wait two mini games for them and the uh tony gwen takes a five three lead okay there's six correct answers left i will tell you that every one of the final answers has between 30 and 33 wins so it's right down to the nitty gritty here scribe you need to uh you made me made me need to make me look good i thought you were gonna you know yeah have some success in this category me too patriots is the answer to everything not this one um another team that plays a lot on monday and football would be the new york giants the new york giants at this point i've already lost so 52 appearances for the giants okay at least some decent numbers oh no i take it back i take it back oh gosh no you're not going to believe this 80 appearances for the giant and they it better not be 80 they're on there they've only won 27 are you serious are you serious they're 27 50 and three they have actually three ties but they've only they've had the worst winning percentage of any team on monday night football all right you can pick a math you can pick big man what was it 27 27 and 50 the giants are just awful on monday night football are the chiefs on that list yes they are oh of course they are here's on my list here are the Vikings on that list yes they are here's the here's the here's the one you missed denver 33 on it on my list kansas city 33 i did on my list washington 33 oh no i have that one rams 33 minnesota 32 and then the team with the best winning percentage did anyone know this probably not too many people knew the team of the best winning percentage with a record of 31 and 12 there's a cardinals the seattle seahawks oh i can see that 31 and 12 very good for the seahawks at peak year old time certainly helped yes it did it seems like plus i'm just thinking in my mind i don't recall the seahawks ever playing a road game on monday night football yeah they used to play in the always playing them all the time yeah it seems like they're always in home on monday nights maybe that is something to do with it yeah that's pretty amazing scrappy that you got the patriots giants and the cults right there three legendary teams that've been in the league for the entire time my legendary like they didn't leave for the entire time the money i football has been airing and they can't do it and you thought the eagles was the crazy yes man that was right yeah that 42 another uh another god you find a way to lose it every time i didn't find a way to lose this one yes you did you guess three wrong answers in a row that's impressive i think all three of those teams were good guesses evidently not uh real quick uh i'm gonna give a shout out shout out to my little cyst oh we you know what we were uh definitely lax and not bringing this up much earlier yes but no i want to give a give a shout she did the she's taking national anthem at the dollar fame yesterday as uh Todd Helton and Jim Leland and uh adria beltray uh missing one right uh joe mower joe mower yeah joe mower as they win as she's saying to national anthem so she did a terrific job co-sis do you think you know my a group we talked about that like how because i've done a million embarrassing things but i can't even imagine waking up the next day with the entire world making fun of you like literally every internet meme is about you and how bad you are to the national anthem that'd be terrible now next time you need a monday night or i mean a monday night or on a monday night you need a national anthem singer Tony Gwen's daughter tony mcjr sister she's good i've heard her before she sounded really good there really is a good mistake yeah that's awesome you did her thing great job congratulations all right uh thank you let's get to break for a clock hour on the other side that means chris versus the fans eight three three two eight eight oh nine seven three if you want to play halfway home on a monday we welcome you into the four o'clock hour Gwen and chris on sandy goes number one sports talkstation 97 three the fan chris hello tony gwen jr and the uh disgruntled matt's grave he spent the entire commercial break tony bitching and moaning about my crackers uh oh i heard him i heard him because he's a bass record so he's still upset that the patriots were not on the monday night football list of winners you know i i've never seen a guy be unluckier at guessing but at the same time react with such anger he actually walked out of the studio like 20 feet out of the studio he didn't just stick his head out the door tony he shut the door behind him in anger let me scrape scrapey you know has these meltdowns that was a meltdown that was a meltdown yeah i mean this is this is part of his DNA and now he's trying to blame his lack of success on my crackers well the crackers are always going to be um somewhere i go if i'm angry just because it's it's a it's a go-to anger point of mine he got here's what he said to our friend greg rannieri from uh one of our sister stations here he said to greg i hate it when people do the same thing every day isn't that the definition of insanity and greg said no insanity is doing the same thing and expecting a different result yeah and i told greg to get out of the room because he's not needed here any doing the same thing is just a habit that's all i got and i pointed out the room like like tantrums i mean the that is a habit yeah and greg then then greg rannieri got uh scrapies wrath although he did agree with me that those crackers are some of the worst things on earth so i will take even taste one so i don't see how he can make an official designation on that he says he has not tasted plastic it's not tasted them i've never given greg rannieri one of my crackers nor will i ever give you another one even if you're never starving and haven't eaten for three days i might i might gag if i even come close to eating you know what we need to do is first of all try to talk a little more about sports today but uh tony i think i want to run this by you i think every week we ought to have a 15-minute segment on world rugby the reason i think this is because i went to the match here the other night that was the uh all blacks from new zealand playing fiji in rugby at snapdragon stadium tony goin jr take a take a guess at the crowd friday night for this match i'd believe it was just a friendly as it were uh attendance you mean attendance give me an attendance guess tenth out yeah tenth out i thought would that be good how about 33,217 what yeah right unbelievable it was jam-packed and what a snap dragon looked like that's awesome it was awesome yes and that was cool as you know i was on the field because well you didn't know i don't know if you're here this far away with those the pictures i saw yes part of my duties for the rugby match my wife basically dragged me into was unfurling the big gigantic flag on the field before the game and that was quite the duty i i gonna be we had to get there four hours before the game to practice that oh hey hey scrape tell me tell me that the first time you saw that pictures it didn't look like christmas flying away oh yeah i i briefly looked at the pictures because i think you texted those pretty early in the morning and so i think i woke up saw i went back to sleep or something and then yeah i i was like what is this he's sending me okay well the first the first picture i sent you i was actually one of the underneath guys holding up the flag yeah that's the one it looks like he's flying away yes i'm underneath the flag and it's quite heavy and it weighs down on your arms and head when you're holding it underneath but for the second uh in the actual game unveiling of the flag i was one of the runners which mean i had to concern myself with lifting my knees which was your suggestion don't trip and did not fall but it was pretty cool i was out on the field waving the flag there and the whole thing and 33 000 people and there was a fly over but we we did take a little walk around the stadium to kind of gauge some of the fans at least 20 000 of the fans all had uniforms on like the jerseys of the team these were dedicated fans wow they were really into this rugby so maybe we're missing the mark here i don't know huh that sounds pretty cool seeing snap dragon oh it was full that pack it was full it was fun i don't uh i don't know i mean i need to go to a legion game everybody tells me legion games are really fun i hear they're fun too that's our local rugby team which by the way lost yesterday in the semi-finals of the season so they missed out on their trip to the final but people told me that those games you know draw five to seven thousand people which is kind of what i expected for this boy was i wrong boy was i wrong all right let's get to some christmas the fans chance for you to be qualified for a trip to the Rio Las Vegas including a two-night stay dinner for two and a day bed at the Rio pool the Rio Las Vegas is back new ownership newly remodeled rooms for sparkling new pools and a brand new food hall all ready for you now and your next vegas escape beyond the expected beyond the strip beyond your wildest dreams Rio Las Vegas the rhythm of vegas book now at Rio Las Vegas dot com if you had one shot one opportunity to take down the human all manack himself how would he do now is your time this is me this guy stages now is your opportunity to win a prize well i hope you know what you're in for chris versus the fans starts now on 97 three the fan all right so we we did no we did not play this on friday so i replenish the questions chris and i got some pretty tough question number three is i'm just gonna put that out there also have a few elementary school history science style questions in there because i ran out of easy sports questions so be aware of that as well in all cases out there do your very best to figure out the question before answering as part of the game you have to make it through three questions each question will get more difficult if you get the question right you move on if you get it wrong and chris gets it right you're eliminated but if chris gets wrong then you move on to the next question or you win if you're a first time player let us know before you get into it and you'll get the first question for free today all right let's go to anthony hello anthony yes not you how are we doing guys good good how are you anthony i'm doing good thank you very much i'm uh i'm a first time player first time bye yes all right we go to question number two here we go right to it thanks by the way for being a first time player anthony yes yes we'd like to welcome new people to the game uh what team has the highest batting average in baseball right now oh goodness um i guess i would go with oh let me go with the pajres i guess pajres pajres stay there though anthony stay there i was going to get the pajres are way up there though i think and team batting average i would have guessed the pajres how about the fillies anthony is still all right no good let's go actually you know the the pajres are first in the national league in terms of betting yes yes the pajres are hitting at a 260 clip as they say yes uh the Houston Astros are hitting at a 261 clip really yes the last rows they're not last anymore you're on Alvarez have a uh have a cycle yesterday or this weekend is that a big four for four game but i don't know if he had a side how did that guy get a triple i've seen that dude run like how does that happen ball rolls around thanks Chris all right question number two no question number three three anthony here we go this is for the win oh here we go in pajres history only two players have hit three home runs in a game twice oh my god name both of them three home runs in a game twice got to name them both both doggy i'll give you a little no oh yeah yeah yeah let's do it no no i was going to give you a little bit extra time just because this is a little bit difficult so he's giving you extra time okay he's not giving you a hint because he's mean that way he's upset because the pajres weren't on the Monday night list i mean i i have no idea that's fine i feel like that god i got what what i was gonna guess yeah you gotta get going you gotta get going oh my god he's in such a mood right now you don't even want to know i'll give you uh i'll give you tati's and i'll give you um i'll give you tati's and i'll give you man i guess let's just go with mani i don't know jeezy couldn't wait there stay there anthony because i have i think i know who one of them is okay well i think fernando's one of them but i could be wrong so i'm gonna go with fernando and i think the other's nate colbert but it could be ken kennedy i'm gonna go and nate colbert and fernando wow anthony winner your first time your first time all right toni two tough questions that's a fair question though right now is a fair question sure is field nevin one of them no mmm who wasn't uh i actually okay i'm gonna tell you the other guy first he's not the other guy anyway steve finley is one oh yeah hard to come up with uh the other guy is hunter refrow can you name both of his three homeroom games no fernando's only done at once fernando's only done at once okay there you know i can't oh one of them was in colorado the only reason i know that is because i was working the game here on the board and the padre it was like a 15 to 11 game and you hit three homerooms and it was like 13 innings or something like that and then um i was hoping you guys one of you guys would know it because i was this the last game of the season they did the other one uh no i'm not sure about that i'm not going to stay the other until i actually look it up i thought it was wait i i know he did it twice i know he did it twice but all right where did you research this question oh we have to start asking that no no no is it actually written somewhere that you know you're right statin so baseball reference i've been using okay um maybe the dodgers against the dodgers was did he hit three homerooms on that mother's day game or was that just the game winning home run i don't remember okay on mother's day he hit a grand slam to win the game against kenley jansen i remember that which by the way have you guys seen mookie betson kenley jansen talking about how they hate it when people call their world series title of micky mouse world series yeah i would hate it too yeah they said it was the hardest thing for them to to win anyway we have the audio if we want to play it later anyway antony is the winner of christmas the fans today because uh i got both questions wrong scrappy's probably very happy he back and goodness is Anthony backed his way into the title on that one yeah he did but i always want to say i'm kind of glad because maybe this will put scrappy in the little better mood did you hear how fast he buzzed the poor guy like he couldn't wait buzzing quick it was like for nanotattis and i'll say mani mochi yeah he's he's in his fields today he's definitely in his field i've been good i've been a good moon guys you are not well i was until that stupid patriots thing what i just thought i'd go all right it's okay patriots they were only good in the ninth that's what two thousands and two thousand tens and the first well but there's a mean but the money they football goes all the way back to freaking what the 60s 1970s all right i finally researched what the other game was thank god it was not even close to what i said but it's a game against the Arizona diamond back seat three home runs in 2017 i think of many of us have put those times yeah behind us yeah but he did have three home runs so three home run games by the Padres Finley and Renfro are the only guys that have done it more than once yes here are the other guys though um Brett Boone Ken cam and Eddie Trent Grisham Nate Colbert Steve Finley twice Will Myers Phil Nevin once hunter and four twice Fernando Tetis junior once Christian Villanueva knots yes i was at that i remember i was at that what was what was that 18 yep 18 like first couple it was April 3rd 2018 so like first couple games into the season never had a player with four only 18 only 18 players in major league history have done that i think i've asked this question recently that's actually that's actually happened less than a perfect game hitting four home runs in a game there's been more perfect games than four home run games and the last actually to do it was not scooter janet it was JD Martinez did it later that year 2017 it hasn't happened for nearly seven years that is somebody said all home run game i think the best game ever though for one guy had to be shawn green do you see anybody remember yes i do remember walk in Milwaukee some incredible number 2002 he had four home runs i think he had he had 19 total bases so he had four home runs a double and a single and he had seven RBI's that's insane i think his line score that day was six six six seven with four homers and a double and a single 19 total bases nobody's ever had more in one game that's a great day right that was a day doggy whoo he says yeah all right very good good job anthony wins in his first trip this is why you play christopher's the fan zone i could miss the questions and you know even if you don't have a great day answer in trivia you could qualify for a trip to las vegas like anthony just did of course you could also end up playing and have your title taken before us some bad questions that's also happened on gwen and chris or chris versus a couple times a couple times you know it's easy for you to bring that up tony because you're all the way across the country i have to sit here with this miserable guy right now i'm actually kind of enjoying that that was a good i put some good i put some work into these questions he did he did that's why i brought it up because those questions are actually pretty good today thank good ones that were not answered correctly on we go more gwen and chris coming up seven twenty three here in d c four twenty three out on the coast tony gwen jr chris chris elo mass gravy uh it looks like perhaps the mba is not moving away from t and t great great works great great work this is the reaction i had when you sent me this text great work i felt that that that sounded right to hit me right uh yes uh they had now i'm trying to understand it apparently they were i guess three different deals that the mba handed uh warner brothers discovery which is t and t um and they had to match one of them that a five-day window to do so they were informed today and the paperwork had been turning it they are matching the offer they basically when they were given the offers tony everybody just laughed at them and said here you go here's what you have to match but we know you're not gonna do it that's that's what it felt like right like yeah good luck yeah yeah well they uh they decided to match it and so you're pwning up and remember this this really became a thing because when the negotiations started to kind of circulate i believe whoever the head honcho is at wb discovery basically said we don't have to have the mba so everybody kind of took that it is they were ready to move on and uh i think that's why we are all surprised today to hear that they actually matched the offer and um you know i think there's at least hope that we'll get at least this year now like charles barkin said he's retiring anyway after this season but maybe he'll rethink it maybe perhaps he'll rethink it uh remember the mba came to a big agreement with amazon prime uh were virtually it was going to be games were going to be streamed at at least one game was going to be streamed every day during the week so uh new developments if you will as it pertains to the mba yeah and i'm saying i think the surprising thing uh more than anything tony is not the tnt matched when nobody expected to them and everybody kind of talked about how they were you know going to get out of basketball and what was going to happen i mean look we don't care i i don't think we care what network the games are on generally uh as long to me as they're not streamed like if it's on nbc or cbs or tnt or espn i don't really care but what i do care about when it comes to tnt is that they have the great pre and post game show with barkley and you know shack and everybody and that's what nobody wanted to see go away and so maybe it won't go away because Warner uh brothers discovery matched 1.8 billion dollars per year and pledged 20 billion over the course of the deal to match these numbers are so mind boggling that they don't even seem real anymore the amount of money that is being paid to these sports leagues by these television networks i thought football owners and basketball owners and baseball and i thought they were the richest people on earth they're not even close to how much money the networks have i guess the part that i don't understand right because you talked about the they decided they informed that they would match the 1.8 billion per year offer that amazon prime video gave right yeah uh i said the NBA border governors approved the leagues 11 year meteorites deal with disney nbc amazon prime video at a meeting then it goes on and say the new deals collectively were 76 billion so no someone someone's short in this like i don't know how to it's it's 20 billion total from tnt it's 1.8 billion per year but 20 billion over the course of the deal and the 76 billion i think refers to the whole package for the whole time okay so that's with nbc with nbc and disney and everybody got you but still that's what i'm saying 76 billion dollars who gets that money i mean it doesn't all go wait adam silvers pocket it goes in the teams pockets the team will end up with this and it goes in teams pocket but let's let's be let's be honest now they're only way now that uh what is that they have these that jates and tatum is now i think he's making what how much per year oh my god new deal is it 70 is it in the 70s let me get the exact number but it's it's up there yeah so that this tv money is certainly it's uh attributing to the rise and not only the individual size but the cap oh there's no doubt about it i just saw his numbers oh man he is uh coming up on this coming year fifty four million dollars is the cap hit seventy one million dollars is what he gets seventy thirty one years old let's wait wait what is it this year this coming year his cap hit is fifty four million dollars no not as cap it what is he making this year i know this cap is cap it's gonna be cash i don't know he's having a hard time no it's some of the cons right it says fifty four million okay so maybe it's fifty four either way that's a ton that's a ton yeah i mean that's why the deals keep going up and up and up so yeah but what i'd like to know to your point though the teams are definitely getting the lion's share what i'd like to know since we know that the teams are getting the lion's share and i think we all agree i mean seventy six billion there's no way you can pay all of that out and player salaries so why do they have to charge eight hundred dollars per ticket why do they have to charge two hundred dollars to park why do they still need sixty dollars for a beer and a hot dog that to me is just gouging and that's what is frading to me you know it's a look at nfl owners nba owners not so much baseball although baseball is pretty expensive too but i mean the money that these these owners and leagues are making it almost seems like it'd just be nice if they said hey you know what pass along a little of this to you the fans but i know i'm living a pipe dream that's never going to happen but i'm going to throw it out there but how are they only going to survive you have come back today with like hopeful hopeful dreams you know what is going on i'm dreaming a dreamer boy's been a dreamer always been a dreamer um taps on the chat says uh shack is rich but the dude who signs his check is wealthy and i know it's from chris rock that's that's uh that is a fact that is a fact that's to chris's point when i was bringing up the fact that salaries are going up together still a lot more of that money remaining after that point so yeah i mean this i don't i it's a good question why does things why do things in the arenas keep going up and up and up and up um i mean basically i mean we talk you know i don't want to get out of it anything but i keep hearing how poor the economy is let's just that's my only statement i hear this all the time where do you hear this from everywhere and i'm not going to get into all of that but you know patience stop everybody hears how poor the economy is just on a on a on a street wise level my wife was a tj max the other day and couldn't get out of the end of the place there were so many people and they're buying stuff everybody seems to have money in an economy that's supposed to be terrible uh and certainly the networks have plenty and it's you know that's all trickling down to the owners and teams and players and not to the fans but to everybody there is there any point and i know this is my pipe dream but is there any point where fans are getting be like you know what i am it's higher than this crazy that is the answer buddy i mean we could do all the bitching as my man christian or anyone ultimately the power is within the consumers hands if they decide every time they pull up this is what how it will go down right let's say you start bringing your own sound so they'll ban you from bringing food into the thing that's what the first step would be then you say you know what i just i just won't eat there and then if they don't have lines at the concession maybe they go oh man maybe we we are charging too much maybe we'll we'll take a little bit down now now the question is can you go through a full game without getting hungry you know you're gonna have to be able to thug it out for like a bunch of games where you just don't eat or drink anything i bet you if you got what is it 41 games at home yeah during the regular season if you did that for 20 of them you said i'm not buying any and not buying a drink or a piece of food and i'm not buying another 60 dollar boston selta green t-shirt that wears out after one wash we got a crop before one we talked about getting the food drink down first we get the food drink down first then we attack the uniform the extra jerseys right let's get the food drink down first so then we can actually enjoy the game not be hungry is enough you got that taken here now you want to look to buy something else then we'll attack that after but that is all it all jokes aside that is the i mean that's the ultimate answer that's really only way it'll change i'll tell you this when i took my nieces to the padreas game that last game before the all-star break we did walk into the padreas store i was going to and i'm not saying this is an mlb thing uh we walked into the padreas store started looking around and i was like okay girls i promised i'd buy you something i'm not buying you anything because it's way too expensive there's a lot of congress for your practice yeah i was i will say this like that's a commitment like if you have to be really honest with someone are you really willing to sit there and be like i'm not going to eat anything i'm not going to drink anything i'm not going to buy like that i are you that committed i don't know that there's enough of us that committed it's true i can't even say that i'm that committed because every time i go to a movie i want to enjoy the full experience i want to get the popcorn i want to get them it's the same thing that i could change could change right you want to enjoy the experience yeah so therein lies the problem ma'am i don't know all right yeah the unit guys know my opinion so we should just move on absolutely big business let's get to break big business i just get to break we got a big five on the other side work with chris dot com for new denim styles you know for a two-time mvp who's also the reigning mvp and the youngest two-time mvp since the merger i do admit lemard jackson seems to have an awful lot of detractors and why is that mostly because he has never taken the ravens to a super bowl much less one-one i'm jim roe all right there's a big five in our near future chris hello tony glen jr mr scrabie tony's in washington dc where it's been raining is it still raining tony do we know let me see take a look last time you checked in and was pouring over there cats and dogs cat sound rain right now okay good hopefully a clear up in time for the ball game tomorrow pajamas and uh nationals will get going at about three forty tomorrow afternoon which means our show is over at two forty tomorrow afternoon i always find it interesting when there are certain teams that do like the seven ten starts and now most teams do the six forty six forty five starts for the night seems like it's like the old school way if you're going seven ten still like boston in new york cleveland new york they still old school in it pajamas are thirty now six forty six forty yeah six forty yeah where they what where they win uh it was covid was it five forty six ten i think six ten that's right i put the entire sequence out of my mind i don't know that's how we got to six forty though everybody loved the six ten starts so much pajamas are right with my six ten six ten this would be lit yeah this is a recording but dodger games when i was a kid eight o'clock oh man i know that just seems impossible well i get it but also games were a lot quicker than we're not on television hour and fifty minutes at that point yeah they just played they you know inning was over they switched sides they started playing again it wasn't a lot of the eight p.m. because people actually needed to get to the stadium to watch the game because there's no but i would also think that that's the same problem now but you know what the traffic in l.a. now yeah good point yeah that's eight o'clock that's a long long time ago all right uh four forty two here since we're checking times let's check some traffic too really sad accident up in the north county today that kelly's been talking about so hopefully they've cleared that up and then the big five it's that time of the show when we check on the latest in sports only the most important page that'll help us boost our youtube all right the uh what are what the chores are out of the way is the word i was looking for number five i can see tony's face over there is like get to it bro i didn't say it you said no i saw it on your face uh we're just eight days away from majorly baseball's trade deadline it's july 30th this year so next tuesday and the padres are looking to bolster the run to the post-season and i think we know that pitching is what is going to help the padre is the most at this point in time cbs forts is rj innerson who i have we have scheduled on thursday said the padre is or the fifth likeliest or the the team the the fifth team on his list to have enough firepower i don't know how to phrase this the fifth team on his list to have the most far the most amount of firepower to bring in tareek scuba from the tigers is what i'm saying so you did a whole article ranking the 30 teams in baseball and who is like serious players in this tareek scuba sweepstakes and he said the padres are fifth so chris boy was that smooth no wonder we're gonna have a okay tony you think you might have a carryover i should ruggle right that was a lot already there's a question i struggle writing this phrasing and it was a lot of words just ask us about scuba wow chris are you are you selling the far and and he mentioned rj innerson mentioned ethan solace mentioned lea leo dallas de vry and mentioned a couple other guys that are big names are you willing to sell the farm for tareek scuba you know i'm gonna need you to recap the lead into the question i can't i can't i can't i got lost in there somewhere i heard they're red somewhere that de vries is homered like seven times in his last 10 games or something he's on a he's on a heater yeah so maybe we should pump the brakes on trading him as well i think yeah 18 no i would not uh scuba seems like he's really good and um if you could have control of him for a year or two or three but i i'm not about that i'm not about trading the whole farm system for one arm especially a pitcher he's got two more years of control scuba could be one pitch away from the end of his season i mean these guys all are like that now i i'm not trading i'm not trading those big pieces for a pitcher do you know how much he makes scuba yep i'm sure he's quite affordable 2.65 million dollars this year arbitration for the next two years yeah you're not going to talk me into it okay i i don't want i i'd rather take my chances on a middle of the rotation pitcher and not have to give up the top of my farm system tony what do you think are you willing to sell the farm for tareek scuba oh no and it's not because i am against giving up prospects i'm definitely all with giving them up i just don't know if scuba was a guy all right fair enough i need a hotter commodity scuba was like figuring it out this year like i want you to have already figured it out a few years and then you know if i'm gonna give up you know the top tier stuff uh tabs on the chat says what about Fernando Cruz from the reds he's a back-end bullpin arm i he's hard-throwing is either closer or at least no he's not a guy he's not even giving up against us he did he's not even the closer i'm not going to mention those two guys for a seventh or eighth inning guy no way okay well no no i'm not saying you would train you would trade all those guys for Fernando Cruz i think i think any any bullpin arm is would be helpful that is good at this point all right everybody's you know you don't know when windy's gonna be back he's banged up you know he's struggling a little bit when he was there and maybe he hasn't been healthy all year i don't know but it's really been three real dependable guys met's slugger p alanzo is having a tough contract here and he is now on the season hitting 240 with an ops under 800 he does have 19 home runs to add to that but it's not the the season people thought he was gonna have we sometimes talk about if a player has hurt his upcoming contract with poor play but tony do you think pita lonzo's season will cost him in cost him money in his next contract no not really you know i think what you have to remember is that these contract they have what they call platform year which is like the year before you go on the free agency and so that's where most of the teams look at i think uh i think he will be cost he will lose very little money if any correct if he has a bad year yeah yeah 53 40 and 46 home runs and three of his five seasons so you know 35 is gonna not look nearly as good but not i i don't think so maybe if you were to hit nine home runs this year somebody might say what's happened but he's gonna end up with a high 20s or low 30s his is uh ops is definitely lower this year but i you got to go buy body work for somebody as young as pita lonzo all right number three now i think text chat groups are possibly chris's least favorite thing on earth but in the recent past there have been two at least two text group chat situations that's filled over into real life and first was tommy fam slapped jock peterson over a rumored text group chat and get ready for the inception of new york baseball because last week louis severino a former yanki now met is still in a group text chat with his friends on the yankis severino said he responded to taunts by former yanki's teammates in the group chat by saying quote right now you only have two good hitters end quote referring to erin judge and wansoto and when former yanki's coach current meds manager carlos mandoza was asked about it here is what he said obviously but look i know that line up i know those guys will and that's a deep line up there so that's all i'm gonna say good boy so i'm not gonna get into that so i guess erin budd did send him a text no one knows what it said but chris you're at first here is louis severino lighting an unnecessary fire here uh first of all i want to address the fact that i hate group chats more than anything i i did say that you did i said and then you're possibly chris's least favorite thing on it is our show is on youtube and there's a group chat the entire show i don't think that it's best for you to suggest to everybody that group chats are my least favorite thing i'm talking specifically about text group then be specific about it and mention anything that i said the group chat i despise is your fantasy baseball guys your fantasy baseball guys 35 messages and that dries me crazy everybody always just wants chris to respond once and he never does i can see that uh that would bother me too uh the multiple yeah text checking something i i actually mute my notifications because if it comes in too much during the show i think breaking news is happening and so i was just gonna say something and i can't remember okay i don't know but i will say i honestly can't hardly remember the question now i'm so upset about the group check is we severino lighting an unnecessary fire oh maybe maybe i don't know not anymore okay tony i don't know maybe we should maybe we should thank will smith for jerks and pro far's big season i don't know but i think too much goes into that at this point in time now he's definitely not lighting a fire because he's on the group chat the group text with yes i think he yeah they're grip right they were ribbing him to start with which is why he responded so no there's that lighting of fire it just so happens that i don't know how oh maybe i don't know maybe i think maybe severino might have volunteered this information he brought it up yeah so i mean yeah no i don't think he's lighting a fire okay chris i heard a breath over there he had already said it to them by the time we got found out about that's true that's true all right number two he's going to the text i'm reading a group chat now i think the last one i think the last one was about some trade opportunities that they want us to talk about chris if you're interested i'll pull up i already erased it sorry these guys are never going to invite you into this lee again he's the he's the least i never really wanted to do it in the first place and you have made you're having fun doing it imagine all right number two golf major winners are usually uh i just realized the time we're gonna have to go do a carryover but this is about um john daily i bought the quest you give us the question at least before we go is it time to put a limit on how many how many years after you win you can play you get a guaranteed spot in the field is this about tiger no no it's about john daily i'll tell you why john daily shoots like a hundred now drinks fourteen kegs of beer smokes he doesn't drink any more he drinks diet cox he flicks his cigarette buds on the fairway i think it's got a championship they don't like it but he won the you won the open i think he deserves the right to play there for the rest of time i didn't that's we're not answering right now i didn't give you the details behind it i think you a little preview of what i might say all right there it is everybody in the baseball text group please send a text right now to crash please all right uh john daily and then there's a picture in the braves system right now who might be one of the worst pictures i've ever i've ever oh yeah i'm i i got beef with this whole oh okay so that's on the way to let's get it cracking 97 through the fan into our last hour eight o'clock here in dc five o'clock there five one there in san diego tony good junior cressello mass gravy we have a big five to continue let's get right to it all right we will do that and i was talking about john daily and the open championship because that is what it's called chris the open championship that's not the british open i heard i heard it was british open no it's no not when they play in scotland because that's not the same thing britain scotland you know i say a lot of really idiotic things on this show and that one on friday about scotland in england got me the most grief in a long time actually yeah i heard like telling telling me that i'm embarrassing myself i i you know i'm trying to help me i try to help save you from this stuff but you know you have to argue with me i told you it was a desperate attempt at getting you to stop calling at the british open i'm gonna call it the british open because that tells me what it is and where it is oh god so would like me to say the open championship with my pinky out like um yeah drinking tea all right uh golf major winners if you don't know or usually guarantee to spot in the field for that major for life but more recently some are starting to say it's time to put a limit on that and let other people in this year straight in the crosshairs is john daily his most recent withdrawal came this week at the open championship at royal trune sometime between his first round 11 over 82 in the beginning of the second round daily pulled out of the tournament citing his chronically bum knee as the reason this came just two months after daily pulled the plug on the friday morning of the pj championship with a thumb injury and if you are keeping track at home six out of 63 uh is a double digit withdrawal rate on golf's uh let me i've phrased this again poorly we're drawing of six out of 63 uh tournaments is a double digit which i don't even know i'm trying to say basically it seems like he is withdrawing from six out of 63 tournaments but two in this year for sure jack nicholas for comparison played in 163 majors he withdrew withdrew from the tournament just once at the 1983 masters with back spasms so after all of that tony is it time to put a limit on former winners who who could you ask me answer me a question scrape you know who are who are these people that have a problem yeah who were so upset by this it's mostly it's mostly it's mostly just like fodder it's mostly just like golf channel if it got like writers saying all right because john dale because basically the argument is john daily keeps taking a spot and he keeps withdrawing from tournaments it's like if you can't get through the tournament he's not but he's not taking a spot he earned that spot by winning the tournament in 1995 that was a matter that was 29 years ago let me ask you a question if yeah let's say let's say jack was still with us yes i'm sorry let's say Arnold is still with us yes do you think he would the i mean like regardless of whether he was like not showing up or pulling out should he not be able to keep his his membership my argument for that is that um Arnold Palmer like was the guy in golf oh okay john daily not not selling tickets he he was neither way by the way all her Palmer it went by the end was not the reason people were showing up to the tournament either yeah you're right it goes Arnold goes jack then it goes tiger those are the three that had the most impact involved i think i think john should be able to keep his membership and continue to participate in yeah what is it not a membership it's a uh his lifetime uh he's got a lifetime spot in the British over yeah yeah i think he should be able to i hope he rolls up there in a wheelchair one year and says i want to play when i'm nine probably well yeah well i should take that back he'll no way john dale is gonna make it the 90 but that's gonna be tough he's gonna be tough i mean he's had a tough life i'm looking at a picture of him playing in the first round the other day tony i i well wait a minute is there any way i can show this um yeah take your camera okay tony look at this picture john daily tell me this guy shouldn't be in the tournament he's he's holding a beat he had a persist should be in the turn can you see him he looks like yes i can see it it's awesome he looks like he should be in a clause i love it he should definitely be in a tournament i love this post man he's got the beard down he's got a cigarette hanging out i honestly don't go it's all about man anybody can play this stupid sport except me apparently i honestly don't know what people are upset about i mean it's not it's not there's it's not like they would have been able to play if he had not taken the spot he's not eliminating somebody else's spot right they still get the top 128 guys yes yes and then daily sins for a rounder people just like to hate about that but what's up like i don't understand what the point of him okay he shoots he won the tournament in 1995 so what let him play he's the least that one of these he's being his best life right i'm just not good mad about everything personally i'm not that mad about it but i do think whoever the who ever the fodder crowd is over here not at all i do think it's kind of ridiculous that the guy just keeps withdrawing from majors like if you can't play you can't play it dude it's okay so it would it be better if he just called him before the term is hey i'm not gonna be able to play this yeah then they feel it what should they did should they didn't take his his lifetime thing away wait wait wait what are they filling it with i don't think they're filling it with anything exactly i was gonna say sam the sheet died down down the street it's just it's just mad that's hilarious bagger Vance wants the spot come on him play all right you know john daley's just capable i saw a clip of john daley and is with uh no shoes on sink one from about 180 yards from the uh fairway couple of weeks ago and all the people that love it i saw a tweet a tweet DM golf could use some more characters like john daley frankly watching the the uh thrilling billy horseshoe with his hat backwards and uh why does that bother you it doesn't but they're bored i'm sure it bothers somebody though he's gotta say there is some stupid golf guy out there like he's just respecting the game i'm sure and that was criss actually was not he kept he did that he had his hat backwards because the rain was coming off the front of his lip of his cap i know i know he couldn't see i know i know but those guys are boring john daley is live a little anything all right here we go to the Braves pitcher can't wait to get to Tony here there's a pitcher named fransisco vclso in the brave system who has thrown three innings of professional baseball in those three innings tell us what level please rookie league okay thank you in those three innings he has recorded 28 walks 35 wild pitches four hit by pitches 20 urn runs and three fielding airs in three chances um i've seen the video of this too it's like me out there like throwing no it if you don't know it is not like you out there uh well chris has to go first on this one just i don't even know what to ask just go ask what you were going to ask how would someone this bad even get on the team to be here you go that was a question i think a better question is what stupid manager is leaving him in the game for his they're not leaving him in the game chris he's he's literally throw three innings and walked he just can't get out wait how many is he walked 28 that means nine walks per game so somebody's leaving him in there for eight walks or they're not letting him work it out they're letting him work it out i don't get this so i'm gonna just i'm gonna pass the tony all right tony i don't get it yeah you guys should be ashamed of yourself this is a young man that probably is what i guess at ricky ball he's probably like 18 you might even be younger than that and you know the rookie ball i promise you is not necessarily well let me scrape he's looking at that let's see 19 he's 19 years old probably has played no organized baseball at all that's my guess watching them throw uh and this is how guys learn i know you know it's it's it looks really bad right now but you'd be surprised in a year from now um you've seen guys who look that bad turn into something completely different and so you know i know we're watching it and it looks crazy when he's throwing baseballs behind he's right handed pitchers throwing it behind right handed batters like they're pretty consistently uh but just remember it's rookie ball like this is where like the the lowest level guys uh start at and most of the time like your picks they ain't seeing rookie ball they get they're going right to like a ball double a like they're not this is for like the guys who are extremely raw baseball 101 i wouldn't say is baseball 101 but in his case we don't even know like maybe this is his first time pitching maybe he hasn't that's where a lot of these guys will go like when kenley started pitching he didn't they didn't send him down to like double they to learn he sent them down to the lower levels and then he kind of had to figure it out now clearly my man doesn't have a good feel for throwing the baseball based on the numbers but i've just said well it would it wouldn't surprise me if a year from now he looks completely different well you know this is the problem with the internet is it is the problem with the internet i'm typing his name just hundreds of articles are coming up with look at this pitch and here's 35 wild pitches and three innings here's my recommendation what rookie league team is he on dsl Braves so who dsl Braves dsl Braves i think he's using a spot that could go better to somebody like say john daily this is not even the same argument not even the same argument and i mean the braves two of all organizations like they don't just bring i mean i trust me i have i remember my first time playing pro ball it was against the Yankees it was against their a ball team and had some dude who was throwing like a billion and had no clue where it was going now he wasn't 20 walks in what was it 35 little pitches he walks in three innings he wasn't that bad but i've seen guys bad and all of a sudden you see them months later they look a lot different so hopefully it goes that way i could honestly get behind him going to rookie ball learning how to pitch i just think if he's got on his eighth walk of the inning maybe we should have got him out of there and you know put him back in a bullpen and to work on the sidewalk was the problem well that's the thing that's three appearances 28 walks that's crazy that's the other that's the other thing we just dividing numbers like he could have got a boatload of those in his first and it could have like gradually gotten better over the three three outing i don't know what his his stat lines look you got that up there i'm gonna try to be tough it's gonna be tough to find a dsl Braves game log i'm looking okay all right well in 2023 he had an era of 351 he appeared in three games only recorded one out in his three games that he played last year this year he's pitched two and two thirds and he has an era of 23 points so he's getting better he's getting better he's getting a lot better can he get worse his uh his the batting average against this pretty it is pretty uh it's pretty okay yeah because nobody's swinging the bat exactly of course yeah i don't i don't see his uh game log so well good luck to the young man i hope he figures it out you know Tony that's a really nice thing you did because there are a lot of people crushing this guy and you just kind of explained he knew yeah because in reality as you guys don't know i'm not i would i don't expect you to to know that but you know it's just especially the way social media is is it is array it is made now for a guy like that to look like he doesn't belong where he he is right now because of you know how they put that kind of stuff though yeah i mean let i mean all right i'm starting to come around i mean after all you and i kind of brought scraping along slowly oh my god now look where he is was i was i i can't remember his name there is no scraping let's play it on the other report to just explain to you where you've come from that is total before you do that that is a great great uh comparison right could could anybody whoever who has been listening to our show as long as they have had said oh it's great we'd be able to host an hour of radio when we first started everybody would have said um scrappy i don't know but they would have said i can't wait to tune in to see what he messes up tonight don't don't play your weather report play the time we threw to you for a quick advertisement and you jumped into the mic and you said oh hold on what's up oh i did say this at one point i love total divas uh that wasn't that wasn't what's up scrappy what's up scrappy hey you didn't know what to do after that that was like six wild pictures here it is here it is what's up scrappy so it's like when i do the SD fat loss i say everybody is scraping here for SD fat loss i just said what's right me not like what's up everyone oh that was that was a fun day at the office everybody asking me what's up scrappy come a long way come a long way like i said there's hope for this guy francesco vc oso is that what you're saying not anymore that let's go to break where we were come back uh we got another addition affair or foul uh if you can guys remember that uh let's check yeah yeah wait wait wait no no we do a fair fail we should do it um i was going to ask you guys in the break if you wanted to do it because we can talk about other things apparently tony wants to do okay we'll do it no i'm sorry i was just reading our own tony's doing the right thing i'm reading our log i'm sorry i was doing the right thing it was in the log he's reading what was supposed to be right i'm more going to chris on the other side ladies and gentlemen hi chris ellipsona going junior mr. scrappy going in chris 97 3 the fan till six o'clock then the scrappy chronicles take over an hour of real craziness you think this show is crazy what do you uh don't have tony in here tony and i hear to keep him under wraps well we got a story about uh mars to in tonight's show mars yes exactly that's what we're talking about a story about uh brock perdy and exactly we got a story about jordan love think i'd rather hear about mars well then you have to listen during the scrappy show um by the way we talked about the men's olympic team summer league basketball olympic team struggling to uh defeat was at south sudan the other day and again today uh four point went over germany but how about the women's basketball olympic team losing to the wnba all-stars i thought that was kind of interesting the other night i actually love that yeah katelyn clark had a good game angel reese had a good game but it was really our girl agu bin walley from uh the dallas team he's 34 points all in the second half tony she had eight threes in the second half a good while he was lining it up she got called out by her head coach here miller at half time and then decided to uh put on the show she did a hell of a job and i go ahead i think it's i think it's great for their league and here's why for since the inception of of us you know women have dominated the olympics for a very very long time women's basketball has and that was a team that i think in in women's sports nobody figure could ever be beat or whatever be beat and the fact that the wnba all-stars are beating i think it speaks to the depth of that league uh that they can remove all of those players all the the very best players i don't think there's any argument uh out of that league and then face up against the best of the wnba and could still lose yeah i think that's i think that's i think that's good for their league in this case it's great for the wnba i mean the depth of the league is you know beyond where it's ever been and again you know you got to thank clark you got to thank angel reese but agu bin walley is another example of what they have people don't know about her but she's the right second leading scorer in the league so she didn't just come out and have one good game she's been having good games all year and it's her second time she's been in the running for the olympic team and been bypassed and she was very quick to point that out after this performance the other day and say wait a minute man you shouldn't have forgot about me i think she removed herself this past time because she saw the writing on the wall right coming and so yeah i mean they definitely she definitely was on a mission the fact that she got that all the second half too was even more okay it was a hot streak just like the ones you see you know some of these guys go on in the nba i mean she was knocking in shot after shot it was fun to watch so i like the i like is it is it is it is it Ryan is it rucho rucho the broadcaster the broadcast he's got he's got his little call uh like uh symbol like uh breams uh bang oh yeah he's got he got he has his own i think he says you bet hey he says you bet you said it a lot the other night for a good man like i like his call i like his car wmba man lightened it up it was fun but the women's olympic team starts this weekend too all right scribe you have two minutes left for the whole segment that you're going to do here which that's okay it's probably not going to do it you're going to do it anyway we're going to start okay let's start it because uh now i would be trying to find the right mix for this whole segment fair foul and originally it was padreas tweets then i moved to other things now i'm just going to open it up to any sort of comment that i find because i was not finding the con the things that i needed but here we go the first one comes from talking yanks uh the the um uh isn't no pinstripe alley it's the blog that every team has one i think it's like a fan-sided blog or whatever so they wrote here is the uh title erin booms excuse for deejay lemahue shows why yankies will never be serious and the reason they're saying this because uh the yankies refuse to remove deejay lemahue from the line up while he's batting 177 he has a 471 ops he has 36 ops plus no home runs in 39 games he has just three extra base hits and only 11 rbi's um and according to the article even his defense has been affected but if you ask manager erin boon it seems none of that matters erin boons said deejay lemahue has earned the right to play referencing him being a two-time batting champion he still believes he has a great uh track he he can be great and they can unlock it so chris fairfowl erin boons excuse for deejay lemahue shows why yankies will never be serious uh that's ridiculous uh fair erin you said is erin boons comments fair no or is the criticism of the title the title that i read it's it's not even it's beyond foul really yeah erin boons uh talking about as he said a guy that's won a couple of batting champion and the notion that the yankies are what they're not trying they they don't care uh there i mean you're talking about erin boon the guy that would punch his brother in the face no in a ball game basically he might do that honestly uh basically what they're saying is deejay lemahue got a huge contract they're not willing to move on from their bad decision how many of bats has he had this year he was hurt right the whole part of the season he's played 39 games yeah 124 at bats in a 6,000 at bat career is a pretty small sample size and i'm looking at erin at deejay lemahue here 290 career hitter i'm gonna give him a little more time probably at the end of the season being as the yankies are doing just fine with him or without him uh give him a chance to settle back in he's 35 some not expecting him to be but the yankies have a better alternative by the way i i'm not a yankies expert i don't think so she's got one in each link there's not tony's dad never even won a batting title in each league that's true so uh fair foul tony this this uh the yankies will never get better because of their thought process never get better that's foul that's ridiculous i think that um by chris said deejay lemahue should be allowed to kind of let this breathe a little bit yankies aren't hurting they're welling play off contention at this point and uh as he said i don't know if they have a better alternative so yeah i think this the way you ask the question to me it's foul okay next one is actually a situation a tv situation uh the brickyard 400 was yesterday and it was a pretty good uh overtime conclusion if you guys didn't see i did i did see the end of this but the race went into the race went into overtime the finish though of the overtime was moved from mbc to the usa network due to mbc's local fillet's needing to cover cool breaking news that took place earlier today uh referring to president joe biden's announcement that he will not be seeking a second term at office people are very upset with this that the conclusion of the brickyard 400 there we go it was moved from mbc to usa uh so basically yes that's it tony fair foul for them to move the event from mbc to usa in overtime because of breaking news now i i will admit i don't have a care for the brickyard 500 so maybe 400 400 so many 500 they could even stream the brickyard 400 and i wouldn't be upset i know that um i think it's uh listen if if the contract say they had to get back to doing what they were doing breaking i don't think there's any contract i think that's an editorial decision a program decision they will listen the editorial decision you know i think it's what i think it's it's probably news when the president decides he's not gonna run for a second term so i think the brickyard 400 they can they they can go with the who is the who is other people mad earlier we've talked about somebody else was mad oh the contingent of golfing people oh yeah the contingents of doing the john day they can they can sit with those folks and be mad together chris is john daily um joke that he made earlier about what i forget now is a huge hit on the chat let me tell you they're loving that joke chris i wear a foul for this um i if they can show oj simpson driving along in a bronco for four hours during the NBA finals they can certainly make an announcement that the president of the united states is stepping out of the race sorry brick yard people no i i get it i mean this is a huge breaking news story i do find it a little strange though that strange scrape the race is almost over why don't you just skip it maybe they could have just asked the president to hold off on this announcement for five or ten minutes while the race ended i may have made a joke right there but i'm not i'm i'm not willing to do that at this point in time last one uh rory mackerel right after he was cut from the open he got on a plane and he went with his family to a vacation i don't know where but here's what he said and i want you to say fair foul chris uh they were asking him about his uh recent divorce that turned out not to be a divorce he they are going to reconcile he said there have been rumors about my personal life recently which is unfortunate responding to each rumor is a fool's game fair or foul is responding to each rumor a fool's game chris yes i don't know what fair is you're saying it's fair i'm worried rory's being fair okay speaking of truth thank you rory for finally rising up there buddy yes it's his fair don't address every single rumor buddy which is something he's kind of been in the habit of doing over the years he kind of he kind of does this uh he kind of has done it so maybe he's learning this is growth i like it yeah that's the reason i put it in there is because i thought it would be the only fair one we've done in the fair foul segment in total maybe now his experience will allow him to stay after he you know loses a close uh major by the way rory mackerel right was only about two and a half two or three shots ahead of john daily at the end of the first round should they let rory mackerel right still compete in the open championship yes he's a former winner no okay good any qualified because he finished second at the us open so you're starting to figure it all out that's right all right that's it very good uh back we got one final and uh who knows what direction that'll go i think it's great camera out you could go in that direction cool come back to find out all right rapping things up here happy hour chrysella konielyn jr in washington dc where uh the big news tomorrow will be the pajre's taking on the nationals come on we're our priorities people pajre's and ask it in a way about 340 tomorrow afternoon that means our program will be over at uh 240 tomorrow so make sure you're on time for the show two o'clock tomorrow gets ready for the first of the three games set pajre's took two or three from cleveland i don't know if we talked enough about that today you know we got into it but kind of a big deal out of that you know going to the weekend i thought that the guardians had only lost they know they hadn't lost the same i thought the same thing so i tweeted that and i felt really stupid yeah i heard that stat somewhere and i didn't double check it i just you weren't the only one who said that yeah so somebody just had it wrong um but no they lost one to the yankies earlier this year but this was only the second that they lost at home all year so pretty good the guardians have been at home and the pajre's are able to knock them off so uh good on the pajre's let's see if they can uh back it up in dc but uh we talked some football earlier with great camareo the nfl season is less than 10 days from the spring training opener let's find out a little bit more about what's coming up in football this fall first though we check traffic let's start with the at the top of football and we'll work our way down the chiefs have now won two super bulls in a row nobody's ever won three in a row do you think the chiefs winning again would be a great thing for football or is it time for them to get knocked off their perch and if they get knocked off their perch give me a couple of teams you think could legitimately pull it off other than the forty-nineers because we know that they're doing uh i mean the chiefs are the chiefs are the gold standard when it comes to football of this era much like the patriots were of the past era i don't think it's good for any sport and any team to win three consecutive championships because it's formed a sea change um much like we saw uh you call men's basketball this last year to dominate two years in a row it's not as much fun as watching a new team come and at least put up a fight or win a championship so uh i will be or somebody else to come win that championship and that's nothing against the chiefs they're amazing they're great but it's more fun when we get to see things change up and that's what the NFL has going is it's a league where most teams have a shot uh i think that's what makes it fun to watch apparently great doesn't like dynasties and so he wants it to be broken up immediately which sounds a little bit of a hater but it's okay is we will move on definitely hater in there he had to face brady for most of his career so i think that's where it comes from i guess i guess i could understand that uh greg i want to ask you a little bit about the bears and calip Williams it what do you think of the roster that he's inheriting at least offensively i know he's got some weapons they're on the outside can he can he have doesn't he have a chance to thrive in his ricky season um the the short answer is yes i have not had a much of a chance to actually watch bear football in the last few years or pay much attention to their off-season because they have been abysmal and i thought Justin fields had talent i thought that he was someone that could turn into a franchise quarterback uh in shosh he would demonstrate sparks of that but ultimately like the quarterback that's where careers have gone to die these this past decade is um that is just it's not been set up for success and when you're picking first it means because your your team has not been good but calip Williams is that guy and getting to watch him at sc uh and the confidence he plays with the maturity the poise like this is as a pro quarterback ready to play as uh as you know they mentioned i went to Stanford as andrew luck and i got getting to watch him play in college you could just see the difference between a guy that's a good at college football and a guy that's ready for the pros and that is calip Williams it is um just maturity and ability to be in the pocket uh and make the right play and so i think he does have a chance for success well it happened right away probably not but over his time in chicago he is that guy that can turn things around there talking about the quarterback position great camryos with us and uh i just want to go back to the Chiefs for a half a second because it seems like the only really advantage that the Chiefs have over everybody is patrick mohomes and i'm just it doesn't seem right to me but it in a lot of ways it does because we saw what brady did and all the other quarterbacks before and after but why is it that in football which is really the ultimate team game 22 guys have to be working in concert out there that that one position the fact that the chiefs have an edge there is why they have an edge everywhere absolutely and it relates to the coaching much like uh mohomes and brady they both had their coaches that are next level coaches that can take them there uh but you can't discount the value of of Travis kelthy and i'm not saying he is the sole reason they're winning championship um but i got a chance to broadcast uh ucla spring game this year and ucla's new offensive coordinators eric the enemy who spent uh a lot of time in kansas city so it's talking to him like how does he teach uh the college guys that pro offense and he said we will watch a lot of film so we'll watch how we did it in practice and then we'll watch the chiefs to see and show how it's supposed to be done but i don't want my guys watching Travis kelthy because he just makes things up and so it's that combination of mohomes being an elite quarterback and Travis kelthy just being able to freestyle things in that chemistry between them much like gronk and brady where even if a play broke down they'll figure it out um so it's really that that having the coach having that quarterback but then having guys like like gronk having guys like kelthy that can go off script and just make amazing things happen and you put all that together and that's that's the magic sauce right there that's what gets you a ring great camarillo joins us here on goin and chris and greg one of the things that came out i don't know if john harvall said it yesterday or today but he talked about lamar jackson the plan is for him to end up being the greatest quarterback to ever do it now he's obviously took some flak because he has struggled quite frankly in the post-season i mean does he have a chance this year with the additions of darrick henry and that backfield uh what are you what is it gonna have to what are you gonna have to see for from him in order for him to get over the hump in terms of getting uh this kind of playoff issue behind him yeah i mean he's i don't think he'll ever be the most uh the greatest quarterback of all time he's one of the greatest to watch one of the most fun to watch uh definitely has the most um skill set as the quarterback as far as doing different things i'm getting over that huh it's so hard in the nfl to to win a super bowl you look at um guys like darrin marino who were one of the most epic pastors in the world that never had uh a championship ring because it takes so much more around you and it also takes some luck um you think of the times where brady came back twenty eight three there was some luck involved kansas city in their playoff game with 16 seconds left getting the kick off and going and getting the field goal like there's a there's a little component of luck that goes beyond just the talent the marjaxon has all the talent he's heading in the right direction they're putting those pieces around him uh but sometimes it just takes that little bit of luck to get you that that championship ring um and you know that's that's what that's what the mar seems to be missing is that that and not just for him the team around him um to get him to go to the next step kirk hammer eos with us of course so one of the things that uh is exciting about the beginning of any season whether it's uh baseball football whatever uh new faces and new places and you know in the nfl it's going to take a while for everybody to catch up on who's you know running back where some of the quarterbacks have moved around obviously wide receiver signed free agent contracts but i don't think there's a bigger name that is newcomer to the nfl this year than jim harbaugh and he comes in to take over the chargers and you look at harbaugh i mean he's coming off first of all a national champion but when he was coaching the 49ers it was unreal how successful he was and people think that a lot of people i've seen think that he's already like a top five coach in the nfl just coming back he just lands that high and people think he can do it with the chargers which i have to say he's taking on a you know an amazing challenge because he's doing it with the franchise has never been able to get it done what do you know about jim i mean you know usd connection stanford connection whatever but that makes him so great yeah well first of all let me go back to your uh your name game was trying to figure out who's on what team i was listening to you and scravie try to challenge each other as the where the uh three agents went and it made me crack open the uh the nfl previews trying to figure out who's on what team because it is a serious shuffle this off season uh jim harbaugh has proven destination after destination that he builds champion he started that usd uh i worked in the athletic department there he totally turned that program into a championship program uh stanford and now and this is no knock to mama mater but well it is a knock down while mama matter if you could turn stanford into a championship program you have the magical juke because the things he did there literally turned this the struggling program into a a team that could uh fight for a national championship um and then he left and did it with the niners so you know it's prescribed he's probably the happiest about that so he proved he could do it at all levels of college and then he did it in the pros and then he did the exact same thing at michigan so this guy just has uh the blueprint for turning programs around now this is going to be probably his biggest talent uh challenge and it is because they lack talent the chargers have justin herbert who is an amazing quarterback and then that's it they've got rid of keena now and they got rid of michigan they just they don't have elite talent surrounding justin herbert for him to immediately come make an impact but i'd be a fool to say he can't do it because we've seen him time and time again do it it'll be fun to watch just how quickly he can do it uh and then with what pieces you know who who are the guys that we're um used to austin echle we're used to uh keena and allen who are going to be the guys that fill those spots uh but if there's one guy that can do it that's coach harvall for sure no doubt about it uh greg i got to ask you since you've brought the 49ers up and scrapes happiness uh brendon iuk is is unhappy right now with the 49ers in the contract negotiation and you know i was listening to i've heard this this kind of speak prior to listening to scraven and and chris talk about it that brendon iuk is is not an important piece to that offense now you played the wide receiver position um how important is brendon iuk to that offense he's huge uh he's in one piece and i'm not saying he's v piece because they have george kiddo they got debo sandules uh brock perdy is the one delivering the ball but brendon iuk is one of the reasons that they went on such a run last year uh and as a wide receiver to watch him and his ability to come across the middle and make huge plays is in huge to the game you have to pay attention to brendon iuk and then that gets debo Samuel open that gets george kiddo loca that makes a brock perdy's life easier uh it's a he's huge in their success now is he 30 million dollars a year huge like he's asking probably not um but he is due to make 14 million dollars this is the last year of his rookie deal and then they still have the ability to franchise tag him after that so i personally don't think he's leaving i have no problem with a man spending the offseason going into contract negotiations because that's his time you know he's 26 years old this is his prime chance to get money go ahead and get you know get that money man get that bag but um i think you'll be a niner again hopefully they can find a way to um make some room in the salary cap form they're fine this year coming up but in future years they've got some issues with the salary cap and you know they they found uh mr a relevant brock perdy and a franchise quarterback who's making pennies to everyone else's dollars pennies everyone else's millions of dollars um so they got to capitalize now they you know if they're there's a guy to pay him at some point yep yep so they they got to go for it now and if there's a way to get brendon iuk uh happy and get him money and get him out on that field he is definitely needed for a championship run greg we got a couple minutes left i want to use all the minutes scrapies rolling his eyes i mean i go hey chris we only got one minute until we're out and he's like oh so what i wanted to do is thank you for coming on oh come on i know there's a question at this point as he moves everything talk to you next week just go go ask your question ask your question i got nothing for me ask your question just keep talking angry scrapey how about that all right in as many words as you can no from 2006 to 12 when you played 12 years now how has the national football league possibly gotten more popular than when you were there because it was huge then but it seems like it's bigger than ever now paler well no just kidding i have to say that that's the difference gambling was not uh embraced when when i was playing um and now that is such a huge component of the game for everyone to be able to well most people depending on your state to be able to gamble on the game uh you've gotten so popular that even some minafell players are gambling on their own job so that that is a huge component of the game and it's helped bring in money it's helped bring in visibility uh it's helped getting guys like brand and i use these bigger contracts well done greg we got to go right now can't even say goodbye because scrapey's getting the steam coming out of his ears thanks greg we appreciate it as always good catching up to you put the steam back in your ear scrapey you got another show to do i love how tony's just laughing the entire term youtube all right the uh what are what the chores are out of the way is the word i was looking for number five i can see Tony's face over there is like get to it bro i just say you said no i saw it on your face uh we're just eight days away from majorly baseball's trade deadline it's july 30th this year so next Tuesday and the padreas are looking to bolster the run to the postseason and i think we know that pitching is what is gonna help the padreas the most at this point in time cbs forts is rj innerson who i have we have scheduled on thursday said the padreas are the fifth likeliest or the the team the fifth team on his list who have enough firepower i don't know how to phrase this the fifth team on his list to have the most the most amount of firepower to bring into reek scuba from the tigers is what i'm saying so you did a whole article ranking the 30 teams in baseball and who is like serious players in this tareek scuba sweepstakes and he said the padreas are fifth so chris boy was that smooth no wonder we're gonna have a okay Tony you think we might have a carrier i struggled right that was a lot of words just ask us about scuba wow chris are you are you selling the far and he mentioned rj innerson mentioned ethan sallis mentioned lea leo dallas davry and mentioned a couple other guys that are big names are you willing to sell the farm for tareek scuba you know i'm gonna need you to recap the lead into the question i can i can't i got lost in there somewhere uh i heard uh read somewhere that davry's is homeward like seven times in his last ten games or something he's on a he's on a heater yeah so maybe we should pump the brakes on trading him as well i think yeah 18 no i would not uh scuba seems like he's really good and um if you could have control of him for a year two or three but i i'm not about that i'm not about trading the whole farm system for one arm especially a pitcher he's got two more years of control scuba could be one pitch away from the end of his season i mean these guys all are like that now i i'm not trading i'm not trading those big pieces for a pitcher do you know how much he makes scuba yep i'm sure he's quite affordable 2.65 million dollars this year arbitration for the next two years yeah you're not going to talk me into it okay i i don't want i i'd rather take my chances on a middle of the rotation pitcher and not have to give up the top of my farm system tony what do you think are you willing to sell the farm for tariq scuba uh no and it's not because i am against giving up the prospects i'm definitely all with giving them up i just don't know if scuba was a guy all right i mean i need a hotter commodity scuba was like figuring it out this year like i want you to have already figured it out a few years and then you know if i'm a give up you know the top tier stuff uh taps on the chat says what about Fernando Cruz from the reds he's a back end bullpen arm i he's hard throwing he's either closer or at least no he's not a guy he's not even giving up against us he did he's not even the closer i'm not going to mention those two guys for uh a seventh or eighth inning guy no way okay well no no i'm not saying you would train you would trade all those guys for Fernando Cruz i think i think any any bullpen arm is would be helpful that is good at this point all right everybody's you know you don't know when want he's gonna be back he's banged up you know he's struggling a little bit when he was there and maybe he hasn't been healthy all year i don't know but it's really been three real dependable guys number four met's slugger p alonzo is having a tough contract here and he is now on the season hitting uh 240 with an opius under 800 he does have 19 home runs to add to that but it's not the season people thought he was gonna have we sometimes talk about if a player has hurt his upcoming contract with poor play but tony do you think petalonzo's season will cost him in cost him money in his next contract no not really you know i think what you have to remember is that these contract they have what they call a platform year which is like the year before you go on the free agency and so that's what most of the teams look at i think uh i think he will be cost he will lose very little money if any Chris if he has a bad year yeah yeah 53 40 and 46 home runs in three of his five seasons so you know 35 is gonna not look nearly as good but not i i don't think so maybe if you had hit nine home runs this year somebody might say what's happened but he's gonna end up with a high 20s or low 30s his is is uh opius is definitely lower this year but i i you got to go buy body of work for somebody as young as petalonzo all right now i think text chat groups are possibly Chris's least favorite thing on earth but in the recent past there have been two at least two text group chats situations that spilled over into real life and first was tommy fam slap jock peterson over a rumored text group chat and get ready for the inception of new york baseball because last week louis sevarino a former yankee now met is still in a group text chat with his friends on the yankee's sevarino said he responded to taunts by former yankee's teammates in the group chat by saying quote right now you only have two good hitters end quote referring to erin judge in wansoto and when former yankee's coach current meds manager karlos Mendoza was asked about it here is what he said i know obviously the way he came out obviously good look i know that line up i know those guys will and that's a deep line up there so that's all i'm gonna say so i guess erin boud did send him a text uh no one knows what it said but chris you're at first here is louis sevarino lighting an unnecessary fire here uh first of all i want to uh address the fact that i hate group chats more than anything i did say that you did i said and being is or possibly chris's least favorite thing on it is our show is on youtube and there's a group chat the entire show i don't think that it's best for you to suggest to everybody that group chats are my least favorite thing i'm talking specifically about text group then be specific about it and mention that i the group chat i despise is your fantasy baseball guys your fantasy baseball got 35 messages and that drives me crazy everybody always just wants chris to respond once he never does i can see that uh that would bother be too uh the multiple yeah the text checking something i i actually mute my notifications because if it comes in too much during the show i think breaking news is happening and so i was gonna say something and now i can't remember okay i don't know but i will say i i honestly can't hardly remember the question now i'm so upset about the group if we sevarino lighting an unnecessary fire oh maybe maybe i don't know not anymore okay tony i don't know maybe we should maybe we should thank will smith for jerks and pro far's big season i i don't know but sure i think too much goes into that at this point in time now he's definitely not lighting a fire because he's on the group chat the group text with yes i think he yeah they're griped right they were ribbing him to start with which is why he responded so no there's that lighting of fire it just so happens that i don't know how oh maybe i don't know maybe i think maybe sevarino might have volunteered this information he brought it up yeah so i mean yeah no i don't think he's lighting a fire okay chris i heard uh breath over there he had already said it to them by the time we got found out about that's true that's true all right he's going to the text chat i'm reading a group chat i think the last one i think the last one was about some trade opportunities that they want us to talk about chris if you're interested i'll pull it up i already erased it sorry these guys are never going to invite you into this league again he's the he's the least i never really wanted to do it in the first place and you have made you're having fun doing it imagine all right number two golf major winners are usually uh i just realized the time we're gonna have to go do a carryover but this is about um john daily you give us the question at least before we go is it time to put a limit on how many how many years after you win you can play you get a guaranteed spot in the field is this about tiger no no it's about john daily i'll tell you why john daily shoots like a hundred now drinks 14 kegs of beer smokes he doesn't drink anymore he drinks diet coke's he flicks his cigarette buds on the fairway i think it's kind of championship they don't like it but he won the you won the open i think he deserves the right to play there for the rest of time i didn't that's we're not answering right now i didn't give you the details behind it i think i'm giving you a little preview of what i might say all right there it is everybody in the baseball text group please send a text right now to crash please all right uh john daily and then there's a picture in the braves system right now who might be one of the worst pictures i've ever i've ever oh yeah i'm i i got beef with this whole oh okay so that's on the way to let's get it cracking 97 through the fan into our last hour eight o'clock here in dc five o'clock there five a one there in san diego tony good junior cressello mass gravy we have a big five to continue let's get right to it all right we will do that and i was talking about john daily and the open championship because that is what it's called chris the open championship that's not the british open i heard i heard it was british open no it's no not when they play in scotland no that's not the same thing britain scotland you know i say a lot of really idiotic things on this show and that one on friday about scotland in england got me the most grief in a long time actually yeah i heard like telling telling me that i'm embarrassing myself i you know i'm trying to help me i try to help save you from this stuff but you know you have to argue with me i told you it was a desperate attempt at getting you to stop calling it the british open i'm going to call it the british open because that tells me what it is and where it is oh god so would like me to say the open championship with my pinky out like um yeah drinking tea all right uh golf major winners if you don't know or usually guarantee to spot in the field for that major for life but more recently some are starting to say it's time to put a limit on that and let other people in this year straight into cross tears is john daily his most recent withdrawal came this week at the open championship at royal trune sometime between his first round 11 over 82 in the beginning of the second round daily pulled out of the tournament citing his chronically bum knee as the reason this came just two months after daily pulled the plug on the friday morning of the pj championship with a thumb injury and if you are keeping track at home six out of 63 is a double digit withdrawal rate on golf's uh let me i've phrased this again poorly withdrawing of six out of 63 tournaments is a double digit which i don't even know i'm trying to say basically it seems like he is withdrawing from six out of 63 tournaments but two in in this year for sure jack nicholas for comparison played in 163 majors he withdrew withdrew from the tournament just once at the 1983 masters with back spasms so after all of that Tony is it time to put a limit on former winners who could you ask me answer me a question scrape yo who are who are these people that have a problem yeah who are so upset by it's mostly it's mostly it's mostly just like fodder it's mostly just like golf channel if it got like writers saying all right well because john daily because basically the argument is john daily keeps taking a spot and he keeps withdrawing from tournaments it's like if you can't get through the tournament he's not but he's not taking a spot he earned that spot by winning the tournament in 1995 that was a matter that was 29 years ago let me ask you a question if yeah let's say let's say jack was still with us yes i'm sorry let's say uh Arnold is still with us yes do you think he would the i mean like regardless of whether he was like not showing up or pulling out should he not be able to keep his his membership my argument for that is that um Arnold palmer like was the guy in golf john daily okay john daily not selling tickets he he was neither way by the way all her palmer and what by the end was not the reason people were showing up to the tournament either yeah you're right it goes Arnold goes jack then it goes tiger those are the three that had the most impact involved i think i think john should be able to keep his membership and continue to participate in yeah what is it not a membership it's a uh his lifetime uh he's got a lifetime uh spot in the British over yeah yeah i think he should be able to i hope he rolls up there in a wheelchair one year and says i want to play when i'm nine probably well yeah well i should take that back he'll no way john dale is going to make it the 90 but that's gonna be tough i mean he's had a tough life i'm looking at a picture of him playing in the first round the other day tony i well wait a minute is there any way i can show this um yeah take your camera okay tony look at this picture john daily tell me this guy shouldn't be in the tournament he's he's holding it he 100% should be in the tournament can you see him he looks like yes i can see it it's awesome he looks like he should be in a clause i love it he should definitely be in a tournament i love this post man he's got the beard down he was belly he's got a cigarette hanging out i honestly don't go all about man anybody can play this stupid sport except me apparently i honestly don't know what people are upset about i mean it's not it's not there's it's not like they would have been able to play if he had not taken the spot he's not eliminating somebody else's spot right they still get the top 128 guys yes yes and then daily zen for a rounder people just like to hate about that like i don't understand what the point of him okay he shoots he won the tournament in 1995 so what let him play look he's having these he's been his best life i'm just not good mad about everything personally i'm not that mad about it but i do think whoever the whoever the fodder crowd is over here knock it off i do think it's kind of ridiculous that the guy just keeps with drawing for majors like if you can't play you can't play it dude and okay so it would it be better if he just called him before the tournament say i'm not gonna be able to play this yeah then they feel it what should they did should they didn't take his fight time thing away wait wait wait what are they filling it with i don't think they're filling it with anything exactly i was gonna say sand the sheet down down the street it's just it's just mad that's hilarious bagger Vance wants the spot him play all right you know john daily's just capable i saw a clip of john daily and is with uh no shoes on sink one from about 180 yards from the uh fairway a couple of weeks ago and all the people that i love it i saw a tweet a tweet DM golf could use some more characters like john daily frankly watching the the uh thrilling billy horseshoe with his hat backwards and uh why does that bother you it doesn't but they're both i'm sure it bothers somebody though he's gotta say there is some stupid golf guy out there like he's just respecting a game i'm sure and that was Chris actually was not kept he did that he had his pat backwards because the rain was coming off the front of his lip of his cap i know he couldn't see i know i know but those guys are boring john daily is live a little anything all right here we go to the Braves pitcher can't wait to get the Tony here there's a pitcher named fransisco vcl so in the brave system who has thrown three innings of professional baseball in those three innings tell us what level please rookie league okay thank you in those three innings he has recorded 28 walks 35 wild pitches four hit by pitches 20 urn runs and three fielding airs in three chances um i've seen the video of this too it's like me out there like throwing no in it if you don't know it is not like you out there uh well chris has to go first on this one just i don't even know what to ask just call it ask what you are going to ask how was someone this bad even get on the team to begin there you go that was my question chris i think a better question is what stupid manager is leaving him in the game for his they're not leaving him in the game chris he's he's literally throwing three innings and walked he just can't get out wait how many is he walked 28 that means nine walks per game so somebody's leaving him in there for eight walks or they're not letting him work it out they're letting him work it out i don't get this so i'm gonna just i'm gonna pass the tony all right tony i don't get it yeah you guys should be ashamed of yourself this is a young man that probably is what i might guess at rookie ball he's probably like 18 you might even be younger than that and you know the rookie ball i promise you it's not necessarily well let me scrape he's looking at that let's go he's 19 years old probably has played no organized baseball at all that's my guess watching him throw uh and this is how guys learn i know you know it's it's it looks really bad right now but you'd be surprised in a year from now um you've seen guys who look that bad turn into something completely different and so you know i know we're watching it and it looks crazy when he's throwing baseballs behind he's right-handed pitcher throwing it behind right-handed batters like pretty consistently but just remember it's rookie ball like this is where like the the lowest level guys uh started and most of the time like your picks they ain't seeing rookie ball they get they're going right to like a ball double a like they're not this is for like the guys who are extremely raw baseball 101 i wouldn't say is baseball one-on-one but in his case he we don't even know like maybe this is his first time pitching maybe he hasn't that's where a lot of these guys will go like when kenley started pitching he didn't they didn't send him down to like double a to learn they sent him down to the lower levels and then he kind of had to figure it out now clearly my man doesn't have a good feel for throwing the baseball based on the numbers but i'm just saying well it would it wouldn't surprise me if a year from now he looks completely different well you know this is the problem with the internet is it is the problem with the internet i've been typing his name just hundreds of articles are coming up with look at this pitch and here's 35 wild pitches and three innings here's my recommendation what rookie league team is he on dsl brave so who dsl brave dsl brave i think he's using a spot that could go better to somebody like say john daley this is not even the same argument not even the same argument and i mean the braves two of all organizations like they don't just agree i mean i trust me i have i remember my first time playing pro ball it was against the Yankees it was against their a ball team and had some dude who was throwing like a billion and had no clue where it was going now he wasn't 20 walks and what was it 35 wild pitches he wasn't that bad but i've seen guys bad and all of a sudden you see him months later they look a lot different so hopefully it goes that way i could honestly get behind him going to rookie ball learning how to pitch i just think if he's got on his eighth walk of the inning maybe we should have got him out of there and you know put him back in a bullpen and work on the sidewalk was the problem well that's the other thing that's three appearances 28 walks that's crazy that's the other that's the other thing we just dividing numbers like he could have got a boatload of those in his first and it could have like gradually gotten better over the three three outing i don't know what his his stat lines look at him walk i'm going to try to be tough it's going to be tough to find a dsl braves game log all right well in 2023 he had an era of 351 he appeared in three games only recorded one out in his three games that he played last year this year he's pitched two and two thirds and he has an era of 23 points so he's getting better he's getting better he's getting a lot better could he get stop gonna get worse his uh his the batting average against is pretty it is pretty uh it's pretty okay yeah because nobody's swinging the bat exactly course of course yeah i don't i don't see his uh game log so well good luck to the young man i hope he figures it out you know Tony that's a really uh nice thing you did because there are a lot of people crashing this guy and you just kind of explained he knew yeah because the reality is you guys don't know i'm not i i wouldn't i don't expect you to to know that but you know it just especially the way social media is is it is a ray it is made now for a guy like that to look like he doesn't belong where he is right now because of you know how they put that kind of stuff though yeah i mean let i mean all right i'm starting to come around i mean after all you and i kind of brought scraping along slowly oh my god now look where he is was i was i i can't remember his name there is no that's great it's great you know that's a plain weather report to just explain to you where you've come from that is totally before you do that that is a great great uh comparison right could you have could could anybody whoever who has been listened to our show as long as they have it said oh scraping would be able to host an hour of radio when we first started everybody would have said them scraping don't know but then we said i can't wait to tune in to see what he messes up tonight don't don't play your weather report play the time we threw to you for a quick advertisement and you jumped into the mike and you said oh hold on what's up screby where is that no i didn't say this at one point i love total divas uh that wasn't that wasn't what's up screby what's up screby you didn't know what to do after that that was like six wild pictures here it is here it is what's up screby so it's like when i do the SD fat loss i say everybody is scraping here for SD fat loss what's right me not like what's up everyone oh that was that was a fun day at the office everybody asking me what's up screby he's coming a long way come a long way like i said there's hope for this guy so i'm fransisco vc oso is that what you're saying not anymore let's go to break when we come back uh we got another edition of fair or foul uh if you can guys remember that uh yeah yeah wait wait wait no no we we do a fair fail we should do it um i was going to ask you guys in the break if you wanted to do it because we can talk about other things apparently tony wants to do okay we'll do it no i i'm sorry i was just reading our uh tony's reading our log i'm sorry i was it was in the log he's reading what was supposed to be read more going to chris on the other side ladies and gentlemen all right chris ellipsono and jr mr screby going in chris 97 3 the fan till six o'clock then the screby chronicles take over an hour of real craziness you think this show is crazy what do you uh don't have tony in here tony and i hear to keep him under wraps well we got a story about uh mars in tonight's show mars yes exactly that's what we're talking about a story about uh brock perdy and exactly we got a story about jordan love think i'd rather hear about mars well then you have to listen to the screby show um by the way we talked about the men's olympic team summer league basketball olympic team struggling to uh defeat was at south sudan the other day and uh again today uh four point went over germany but how about the women's basketball olympic team losing to the wnba all-stars i thought that was kind of interesting the other night i actually love that yeah katelyn clark had a good game angel rees had a good game but it was really our girl aguban walleye from uh the dallas team she was 34 points all in the second half tony she had eight threes in the second half a good wallet she got called out by her head coach here miller at half time and then decided to uh put on the show she did a hell of a job and i go ahead i think it's i think it's great for their league and here's why for since the inception of of us you know women have dominated the olympics for a very very long time women's basketball has and that was a team that i think in in women's sports nobody figure could ever be beat or whatever be beat and the fact that the wnba all-stars would be and i think it speaks to the depth of that league uh that they can remove all of those players all the the very best players i don't think there's any argument uh out of that league and then face up against the best of the wnba and can still lose yeah i think that's i think that's i think that's good for their league in this case it's great for the wnba i mean the depth of the league is you know beyond where it's ever been and again you know you got to thank clark you got to thank angel rees but a good ben wallie is another example of what they have people don't know about her but she's the second leading scorer in the league so she didn't just come out and have one good game she's been having good games all year and it's her second time she's been in the running for the olympic team and been bypassed and she was very quick to point that out after this performance the other day and say wait a minute man you shouldn't have forgot about me i think she removed herself this past time because she saw the writing on the wall right coming and so yeah i mean they definitely she definitely was on a mission the fact that she got that hold the second half too was even more okay it was a hot streak just like the ones you see you know some of these guys go on in the nba i mean she was knocking in shot after shot it was fun to watch so i like the i like is it is it is it ryan is it ruko ryan oh yeah the uh broadcaster the broadcast he's got he's got his little call uh like uh sim brit like uh breams uh bang oh yeah he's got he got he has his own i think he says you bet hey he says you bet you said it a lot the other night for a good woman like i like his call i like this mba man lightened it up it was fun but the women's olympic team starts this weekend too all right scrab you have two minutes left for the whole segment that you're going to do here which that's okay that's okay it's probably not going to do it you're going to do it anyway we're going to start it okay let's start it because uh now i would have been trying to find the right mix for this whole segment fairfowl and originally it was pardry's tweets then i moved to other things now i'm just going to open it up to any sort of comment that i find because i was not finding the con the things that i needed but here we go the first one comes from talking yanks uh the the um uh isn't known pinstripe alley it's the blog that every team has one i think it's like a fan-sided blog or whatever so they wrote here is the uh title erin boom's excuse for deejay lemahue shows why yankies will never be serious and the reason they're saying this because uh the yankies refuse to remove deejay lemahue from the line up while he's batting 177 he has a 471 ops he has 36 ops plus no home runs in 39 games he has just three extra base hits and only 11 rbi's um and according to the article even his defense has been affected but if you ask manager erin boone it seems none of that matters erin boone said deejay lemahue has earned the right to play referencing him being a two-time batting champion he still believes he has a great uh track he can be great and they can unlock it so chris fairfowl erin boone's excuse for deejay lemahue shows why yankies will never be serious uh that's ridiculous uh fair erin you said is erin boone's comments fair no or the criticism of the title the title that i read is it's not even it's beyond foul really yeah erin boone's uh talking about as he said a guy that's one a couple of batting champion and the notion that the yankies are what they're not trying they they don't care uh there i mean you're talking about erin boone the guy that would punches brother in the face no no basically heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh heh might do that honestly uh basically what they're saying is deejay lemahue got a huge contract they're not willing to move on from their bad decision how many of bats has he had this year he's hurt right the whole 129 he's played 39 games yeah hundred and twenty four at bats in a six thousand at bat career is a pretty small sample size and i'm looking at erin at deejay lemahue here 290 career hitter i'm gonna give him a little more time probably at the end of the season being as the yankies are doing just fine with him or without him uh give him a chance to settle back in he's 35 so i'm not expecting him to be but the yankies have a better alternative by the way i i'm not a yankies expert i don't think so real she's got one in each league there's not tony's dad never even won a batting title in each league that's true so uh fair foul tony this this uh the yankies will never get better because of their thought process never get better that's foul that's ridiculous i think that um biker said deejay lemahue should be allowed to kind of let this breathe a little bit yankies aren't hurting they're welling playoff contention at this point and uh as he said i don't know if they have a better alternative so yeah i think this the way you ask the question to me it's foul okay next one is actually a situation a tv situation uh the brickyard 400 was yesterday and it was a pretty good uh overtime conclusion if you guys didn't see i did i did see the end of this but the race went into the race went into overtime the finish though of the overtime was moved from mbc to the usa network due to mbc's local phyllis needing to cover cool breaking news that took place earlier today uh referring to president joe biden's announcement that he will not be seeking a second term in office people are very upset with this that the conclusion of the brickyard 400 was moved from mbc to usa uh so basically yes that's it tony fairfowl for them to move the event from mbc to usa in overtime because of breaking news now i i will admit i don't have a care for the brickyard 500 so maybe 400 400 so maybe 500 they could even stream the brickyard 400 and i wouldn't be upset i know that um i think it's uh listen if if the contracts they they had to get back to doing what they were doing breaking i don't think there's any contract i think that's an editorial decision a program they will listen the editorial decision you know i think it's what i think it's it's probably news when the president decides he's not gonna run for a second term so fair enough i i think the brickyard 400 they can they they can go with the who is the who is other people mad earlier we've talked about somebody else was mad oh the contingent of golfing people oh yeah the contingents of join the john day they can they could sit with those folks and be mad together chris is john daily um joke that he made earlier about what i forget now is a huge hit on the chat let me tell you they're loving that joke chris i was fair afoul for this um i if they can show oj simpson driving along in a bronco for four hours during the agate finals they can certainly make an announcement that the president of the united states is uh stepping out of the race sorry brickyard people no i i could get it i mean this is a huge breaking news story i do find it a little strange though that strange scrape the race is almost over why don't you just skip it maybe they could have just asked the president to hold off on this announcement for five or ten minutes while the race ended i may have made a joke right there but i'm not i'm i'm not willing to do that at this point in time last one uh rory makurai after he was cut from the open he got on a plane and he went with his family to a vacation i don't know where but here's what he said and i want you to say fair afoul chris uh they were asking him about his uh recent divorce that turned out not to be a divorce he they are going to reconcile he said there have been rumors about my personal life recently which is unfortunate responding to each rumor is a fool's game fair or fouls responding to each rumor a fool's game chris yes i don't know what fair is you're saying it's fair i'm worries worries being fair okay speaking of truth thank you rory for finally rising up there buddy yes it's his fair don't address every single rumor buddy which is something he's kind of been in the habit of doing over the years he kind of he kind of does this uh he kind of has done so maybe he's learning this is growth i like it yeah that's the reason i put it in there is because i thought it would be the only fair one we've done in the fair foul segment in total maybe now his experience will allow him to stay after he you know loses a close uh major by the way rory macaroni was only about two and a half two or three shots ahead of john daily at the end of the first round should they let rory macaroni still compete in the open championship yes he's a former winner oh okay good any qualifying because he finished second at the us open so you're starting to figure it all out that's right all right that's it very good uh back we got one final and uh who knows what direction that'll go i think it's great camera he could go in that direction okay cool come back to find out all right rapping things up here happy hour chryselah conningly jr in larshington dc where uh the big news tomorrow will be the pajamas taking on the nationals come on where are our priorities people pajamas get in the way about 340 tomorrow afternoon that means our program will be over at uh 240 tomorrow so make sure you're on time for the show two o'clock tomorrow gets ready for the first of the three games set pajamas took two or three from cleveland i don't know if we talked enough about that today you know we got into it but kind of a big deal out of that you know going to the weekend i thought that the guardians had only lost they know they hadn't lost the same i thought the same thing so i tweeted that and i felt really stupid yeah i heard that stat somewhere and i didn't double check it i just you were the only one who said that yeah so somebody just had it wrong um but no they lost one to the Yankees earlier this year but this was only the second that they lost at home all year so pretty good the guardians have been at home and uh the pajamas were able to knock them off so uh good on the pajamas let's see if they can uh back it up in d.c but uh we talked some football earlier with great camareo the nfl season is less than 10 days from the spring training opener let's find out a little bit more about what's coming up in football this fall first though we check traffic let's start with the at the top of football and we'll work our way down the chiefs have now won two super bowls in a row nobody's everyone three in a row do you think the chiefs winning again would be a great thing for football or is it time for them to get knocked off their perch and if they get knocked off their perch give me a couple of teams you think could legitimately pull it off other than the 49ers because we know the thing yeah uh i mean the chiefs are the the chiefs are the gold standard when it comes to football this era much like the patriots were of the past era i don't think it's good for any sport and any team to win three consecutive championships because it's farmed to see change um much like we saw uh you call men's basketball this last year to dominate two years in a row it's not as much fun as watching a new team come and at least put up a fight or win a championship so uh i will be for somebody else to come win that championship and that's nothing against the chiefs they're amazing they're great but it's more fun when we get to see things change up and that's what the NFL have going is this a league where most teams have a shot i think that's what makes it fun to watch apparently greg doesn't like dynasties and so he wants it to be broken up immediately which sounds a little bit of a hater but it's okay as we move on he had to face Brady for most of his career so i think that's where it comes from i guess i guess i could understand that uh greg i want to ask you a little bit about the bears and calip Williams it what do you think of the roster that he's inheriting at least offensively i know he's got some weapons there on the outside can he can he have doesn't he have a chance to thrive in his ricky season um the the short answer is yes i have not had a much of a chance to actually watch bear football in the last few years or pay much attention to their off season because they have been abysmal i thought Justin Fields had talent i thought that he was someone that could turn into a franchise quarterback uh in shosh he would demonstrate sparks of that but ultimately like the quarterback that's where careers have gone to die these this past decade is um that is just it's not been set up for success and when you're picking first it means because your your team has not been good but calip Williams is that guy and getting to watch him at fc uh and the confidence he plays with the maturity the poise like this is as a pro quarterback ready to play as uh as you know they mentioned i want to stand for it as andrew luck and i got getting to watch him play in college you can just see the difference between a guy that's a good at college football and a guy that's ready for the pros and that is calip Williams it is um just maturity and ability to be in the pocket uh and make the right play and so i think he does have a chance for success well it happened right away probably not but over his time in Chicago he is that guy that can turn things around there talking about the quarterback position great camryos with us and uh i just want to go back to the Chiefs for a half a second because it seems like the only really advantage that the Chiefs have over everybody is Patrick Mahomes and i'm just it doesn't seem right to me but it in a lot of ways it does because we saw what Brady did and all the other quarterbacks before and after but why is it that in football which is really the ultimate team game 22 guys have to be working in concert out there that that one position the the fact that the Chiefs have an edge there is why they have an edge everywhere absolutely and it relates to the coaching much like uh Mahomes and Brady they both had their coaches that are next level coaches that can take them there uh but you can't discount the value of of Travis Kelsey and i'm not saying he is the sole reason they are winning championship but i got a chance to broadcast uh UCLA's spring game this year and UCLA's new offensive coordinators Eric the enemy who spent a lot of time in Kansas City so it's talking to him like how does he teach uh the college guys that pro offense and he said we will watch a lot of film so we'll watch how we did it in practice and then we'll watch the Chiefs to see and show how it's supposed to be done but i don't want my guys watching Travis Kelsey because he just makes things up and so it's that combination of Mahomes being an elite quarterback and Travis Kelsey just being able to freestyle things in that chemistry between them much like Gronk and Brady where even if a play broke down they'll figure it out um so it's really that that having the coach having that quarterback but then having guys like like Gronk having guys like Kelsey that can go off script and just make amazing things happen and you put all that together and that's that's the magic sauce right there that's what gets you a ring Greg Amarillo joins us here on Gwen and Chris and Greg one of the things that came out i don't know if John Harbaugh said it yesterday or today but he talked about Lamar Jackson the plan is for him to end up being the greatest quarterback to ever do it now he's obviously took some flak because he has struggled quite frankly in the postseason i mean does he have a chance this year with the additions of Derek Henry in that backfield what are you what is it gonna have to what are you gonna have to see for from him in order for him to get over the hump in terms of getting this kind of playoff issue behind him yeah i mean he's i don't think he'll ever be the most the greatest quarterback of all time he's one of the greatest to watch one of the most fun to watch uh definitely has the most um skill set as the quarterback as far as doing different things i'm getting over that homie it's so hard in the NFL to to win a Super Bowl you look at guys like Dan Marino who were one of the most epic pastors in the world that never had uh a championship ring because it takes so much more around you and it also takes some luck you think of the times where Brady came back 28-3 there was some luck involved Kansas City in their playoff game with 16 seconds left getting the kick off and going and getting the field goal like there's a there's a little component of luck that goes beyond just the talent Lamar Jackson has all the talent he's heading in the right direction they're putting those pieces around him uh but sometimes it just takes that little bit of luck to get you that that championship ring um and you know that's that's what that's what Lamar seems to be missing is that that and not just for him the team around him um to get him to go to the next step Kurt Camarillo's with us of course so one of the things that uh is exciting about the beginning of any season whether it's uh baseball football whatever uh new faces and new places and you know in the NFL it's going to take a while for everybody to catch up on who's you know running back where some of the quarterbacks have moved around obviously wide receivers signed free agent contracts but I don't think there's a bigger name that is newcomer to the NFL this year than Jim Harbaugh and he comes in to take over the Chargers and you look at Harbaugh I mean he's coming off first of all a national champion but when he was coaching the 49ers it was unreal how successful he was and people think that a lot of people I've seen think that he's already like a top five coach in the NFL just coming back he just lands that high and people think he can do it with the chargers which I have to say he's taking on a you know an amazing challenge because he's doing it with the franchise has never been able to get it done what do you know about Jim I mean you know USD connection Stanford connection whatever but that makes him so great yeah well first of all let me go back to your uh your name game was trying to figure out who's on what team I was listening to you and Scravey try to challenge each other at the where he uh three agents went and it made me crack open the uh the the NFL previews trying to figure out who's on what team because they just did a serious shuffle this offseason uh Jim Harbaugh has proven destination after destination that he builds champion he started that USD I worked in the athletic department there he totally turned that program into a championship program uh Stanford and now and this is no knock to mama matter but well it is a knock on one mile no matter if you can turn Stanford into a championship program you have the magical juke because the things he did there literally turned this the struggling program into a a team that could uh fight for a national championship um and then he left and did it with the Niners so you know for Scravey he's probably the happiest about that so he proved he could do it at all levels of college and then he did it in the pros and then he did the exact same thing at Michigan so this guy just has uh the blueprint for turning programs around now this is going to be probably his biggest talent uh challenge and it is because they lack talent the Chargers have Justin Herbert who was an amazing quarterback and then that's it they've got rid of Keena now and they got rid of Mike Williams they just they don't have elite talent surrounding Justin Herbert for him to immediately come and make an impact but I'd be a fool to say he can't do it because we've seen him time and time again to do it it'll be fun to watch just how quickly he can do it uh and then with what pieces you know who are the guys that we're um used to Austin Echler we're used to uh Keena and Alan who are going to be the guys that filled those spots but if there's one guy that can do it that's Coach Hargov for sure no doubt about it uh Greg I gotta ask you since you brought the 49ers up and then Scravey's happiness uh Brennan Iyuk is is unhappy right now with the 49ers in the contract negotiation and you know I was listening to I've heard this this kind of speak prior to listening to Scravey and and Chris talk about it that Brennan Iyuk is is not an important piece to that offense now you played the wide receiver position um how important is Brennan Iyuk to that offense he's huge uh I think he's in one piece and I'm not saying he's deep piece because they have George Kittle they got Debo Samuel's uh Brock Purdy is the one delivering the ball but Brennan Iyuk is one of the reasons that they went on such a run last year uh and as a wide receiver to watch him his ability to come across the middle and make huge plays is huge to the game you have to pay attention to Brandon Iyuk and then that gets Debo Samuel open that gets George Kittle open that makes Brock Purdy's life easier uh it's a he's huge in their success now is he 30 million dollars a year huge like he's asking probably not but he is due to make 14 million dollars this is the last year of his rookie deal and then they still have the ability to franchise tag him after that so I personally don't think he's leaving I have no problem with a man spending the offseason going into contract negotiations because that's his time you know he's 26 years old this is his prime chance to get money go ahead and get young you get that money man get that bag but um I think you'll be a niner again hopefully they can find a way to um make some room in the salary cap for him they're fine this year coming up but in future years they've got some issues with the salary cap and you know they they found uh mr irrelevant Brock Purdy in a franchise quarterback who's making pennies to everyone else's dollars pennies everyone else's millions of dollars um so they got to capitalize now they you know if they're gonna have to pay him at some point yep yep so they they gotta go for it now and if there's a way to get Brandon and I you uh happy and get him money and get him out on that field he is definitely needed for a championship run Greg we got a couple minutes left I want to use all the minutes Scrabby's rolling his eyes I mean I go hey Chris we only got one minute until we're out and he's like oh so what I wanted to do is thank you for coming on oh come on I know there's a question at this point as he moves everything talk to next week there you go ask your question ask your question I got nothing for him ask your question just keep talking angry Scrabby how about that all right in as many words as you can no from 2006 to 12 when you played 12 years now how has the National Football League possibly gotten more popular than when you were there because it was huge then but it seems like it's bigger than ever now Taylor Swift no just kidding that's the difference gambling was not uh embraced when when I was playing and now that is such a huge component of the game for everyone to be able to well most people depending on your state to be able to gamble on the game uh you've gotten so popular that even some NFL players are gambling on their own game so that that is a huge component of the game and it's helped bring in money it's helped bring in visibility it's helped getting guys like Brandon and I use these bigger contracts well done Greg we got to go right now can't even say goodbye because Scrabby is getting the steam coming out of his ears thanks Greg we appreciate it as always good catching up to you but the steam back in your ears Scrabby you've got another show to do I love how Tony's just laughing the entire time he loves it oh this is great you're mad you were mad a lot today I experts everything you'd ever want to know about a neighborhood including the number of homes for sale transportation local amenities cultural attractions unique qualities and even things like median lot size and a noise score homes.com we've done your homework let's start with the at the top of football and we'll work our way down the chiefs have now won two super bowls in a row nobody's ever won three in a row do you think the chiefs winning again would be a great thing for football or is it time for them to get knocked off their perch and if they get knocked off their perch give me a couple of teams you think could legitimately pull it off other than the forty-nineers because we know that they yeah I mean the chiefs are the chiefs are the gold standard when it comes to football this era much like the patriots were of the past era I don't think it's good for any sport and any team to win three consecutive championships because it's formed a sea change much like we saw you come in the basketball this last year to dominate two years in a row it's not as much fun as watching a new team come and at least put up a fight or win a championship so I will be for somebody else to come win that championship and that's nothing against the chiefs they're amazing they're great but it's more fun when you get to see things change up and that's what the NFL have going is this a league where most teams have a shot I think that's what makes it fun to watch apparently greg doesn't like dynasties and so he wants it to be broken up immediately which sounds a little bit of a hater but it's okay as we move on that's what we can hater in there he had to face Brady for most of his career so I think that's where it comes from I guess I guess I could understand that uh Greg I want to ask you a little bit about the Bears and Caleb Williams it what do you think of the roster that he's inheriting at least offensively I know he's got some weapons they're on the outside can he can he have doesn't he have a chance to thrive in his rookie season um the short answer is yes I have not had a much of a chance to actually watch Bears football in the last few years or pay much attention to their offseason because they have been abysmal and I thought Justin Fields had talent I thought that he was someone that could turn into a franchise quarterback uh in shosh he would demonstrate sparks of that but ultimately like the quarterback that's where careers have gone to die these this past decade is um that is just it's not been set up for success and when you're picking first it means because your your team has not been good but Caleb Williams is that guy and getting to watch him at fc uh and the confidence he plays with the maturity the poise like this is as a pro quarterback ready to play as uh as you know they mentioned I want to stand for it as Andrew Luck and I got getting to watch him play in college you could just see the difference between a guy that's a good at college football and a guy that's ready for the pros and that is Caleb Williams it is um just maturity and ability to be in the pocket uh and make the right play and so I think he does have a chance for success well it happened right away probably not but over his time in Chicago he is that guy that can turn things around there talking about the quarterback position great Camarillo's with us and uh I just want to go back to the Chiefs for a half a second because it seems like the only really advantage that the Chiefs have over everybody is Patrick Mahomes and I'm just I it doesn't seem right to me but it in a lot of ways it does because we saw what Brady did and all the other quarterbacks before and after but why is it that in football which is really the ultimate team game 22 guys have to be working in concert out there that that one position the the fact that the Chiefs have an edge there is why they have an edge everywhere uh absolutely and it relates to the coaching much like uh Mahomes and Brady they both had their coaches that are next level coaches that can take them there uh but you can't discount the value of of Travis Kelsey and I'm not saying he is the sole reason they are winning championship um but I got a chance to broadcast uh UCLA's spring game this year and UCLA's new offensive coordinators Eric the enemy who spent a lot of time in Kansas City it's always talking to him like how does he teach uh the college guys that pro offense and he said we will watch a lot of film so we'll watch how we did in practice and then we'll watch the Chiefs to see and show how it's supposed to be done but I don't want my guys watching Travis Kelsey because he just makes things up and so it's that combination of Mahomes being an elite quarterback and Travis Kelsey just being able to freestyle things in that chemistry between them much like Gronk and Brady where even if a play broke down they'll figure it out um so it's really that that having the coach having that quarterback but then having guys like like Gronk having guys like Kelsey that can go off script and just make amazing things happen and you put all that together and that's that's the magic sauce right there that's what gives you a ring. Greg Amarillo joins us here on Gwen and Chris and Greg one of the things that came out I don't know if John Harbaugh said it yesterday or today but he talked about Lamar Jackson the plan is for him to end up being the greatest quarterback to ever do it now he's obviously took some flak because he has struggled quite frankly in the postseason I mean does he have a chance this year with the additions of Derek Henry in that backfield what are you what is it gonna have to what are you gonna have to see for from him in order for him to get over the hump in terms of getting this kind of playoff issue behind him yeah I mean he's I don't think he'll ever be the most the greatest quarterback of all time he's one of the greatest to watch one of the most funds to watch definitely has the most um skill set as the quarterback as far as doing different things I'm getting over that homie it's so hard in the NFL to to win a Super Bowl you look at guys like Dan Marino who were one of the most epic pastors in the world that never had a championship ring because it takes so much more around you and it also takes some luck you think of the times where Brady came back 28-3 there was some luck involved Kansas City in their playoff game with 16 seconds left getting the kick off and going and getting the field goal like there's a there's a little component of luck that goes beyond just the talent Lamar Jackson has all the talent he's heading in the right direction they're putting those pieces around him but sometimes it just takes that little bit of luck to get you that that championship ring um and you know that's that's what that's what Lamar seems to be missing is that and not just for him the team around him um to get him to go to the next step Kurt Camarillo's with us of course so one of the things that uh is exciting about the beginning of any season whether it's baseball football whatever new faces and new places and you know in the NFL it's going to take a while for everybody to catch up on who's you know running back where some of the quarterbacks have moved around obviously wide receivers signed free agent contracts but I don't think there's a bigger name that is newcomer to the NFL this year than Jim Harbaugh and he comes in to take over the Chargers and you look at Harbaugh I mean he's coming off first of all a national champion but when he was coaching the 49ers it was unreal how successful he was and people think that a lot of people I've seen think that he's already like a top five coach in the NFL just coming back he just lands that high and people think he can do it with the Chargers which I have to say he's taking on a you know an amazing challenge because he's doing it with the franchise has never been able to get it done what do you know about Jim I mean you know USD connection Stanford connection whatever but that makes him so great yeah well first of all let me go back to your uh your name game was trying to figure out who's on what team I was listening to you and Scravey try to challenge each other at the where he uh three agents went and it made me crack open the uh the the NFL previews trying to figure out who's on what to because they just did a serious shuffle this off season uh Jim Harbaugh has proven destination after destination that he builds champion he started that USD I worked in the athletic department there he totally turned that program into a championship program uh Stanford and now and this is no knock to mama mater but well it is a knock to mama mater if you could turn Stanford into a championship program you have the magical juke because the things he did there literally turned this the struggling program into a a team that could uh fight for a national championship um and then he left and did it with the Niners so you know it's for Scravey's probably the happiest about that so he proved he could do it at all levels of college and then he did it in the pros and then he did the exact same thing at Michigan so this guy just has uh the blueprint for turning programs around now this is going to be probably his biggest talent uh challenge and it is because they lack talent the Chargers have Justin Herbert who was an amazing quarterback and then that's it they've got rid of Keaton Allen they got rid of Mike Williams they just they don't have elite talent surrounding Justin Herbert for him to immediately come and make an impact but I'd be a fool to say he can't do it because we've seen him time and time again do it it'll be fun to watch just how quickly he can do it and then with what pieces you know who are the guys that we're um used to Austin Echler we're used to uh Keaton Allen who are going to be the guys that fill those spots but if there's one guy that can do it that's Coach Harbaugh for sure no doubt about it uh Greg I gotta ask you since you brought the 49ers up and then Scravey's Happiness uh Brennan Iyuk is is unhappy right now with the 49ers in the contract negotiation and you know I was listening to I've heard this this kind of speak prior to listening to Scravey and and Chris talk about it that Brennan Iyuk is is not an important piece to that offense now you played the wide receiver position um how important is Brennan Iyuk to that offense he's huge uh he's in one piece and I'm not saying he's these piece because they have George Kittle they got Debo Samuel's uh Brock Purdy is the one delivering the ball but Brennan Iyuk is one of the reasons that they went on such a run last year uh and as a wide receiver to watch him his ability to come across the middle and make huge plays is huge to the game you have to pay attention to Brandon Iyuk and then that gets Debo Samuel open that gets George Kittle open that makes it Brock Purdy's life easier uh it's a he's huge in their success now is he 30 million dollars a year huge like he's asking probably not but he is due to make 14 million dollars this is the last year of his rookie deal and then they still have the ability to franchise tag him after that so I personally don't think he's leaving I have no problem with a man spending the offseason going into contract negotiations because that's his time you know he's 26 years old this is his prime chance to get money go ahead and get you know get that money man get that bag but I think he'll be a niner again hopefully they can find a way to make some room in the salary cap form they're fine this year coming up but in future years they've got some issues with the salary cap and you know they they found uh mr irrelevant Brock Purdy in a franchise quarterback who's making pennies to everyone else's dollars pennies everyone else's millions of dollars so they got to capitalize now they you know if they because they got to pay him at some point yep yep so they they got to go for it now and if there's a way to get Brandon i uk uh happy and get him money and get him out on that field he is definitely needed for a championship run Greg we got a couple minutes left I want to use all the minutes scrapie's rolling his eyes I mean i go hey Chris we only got one minute until we're out he's like oh so
