Welcome in to Gwen and Chris. 201 on the clock, Tony Gwen Jr., Chrisello, Matt Scrabie, all together now in the studio. Padres get swept in the Vetter Cup, the vaunted... Did they hand the cup to the Mariners on their way out of town? They were too upset. They didn't hand it to them. They just made them grab it and leave. So Padres ran into a little bit of a buzzsaw with the starting pitching of the Mariners that was dominant over that series. They've now lost four straight, if you include the last two against Arizona. Yeah, it's over, Tony. Again, for the 100th time this season, the season is over. It certainly hasn't gone well here as of late. And after a great previous homestead that was followed by their first backed, I should say home road success, a little bit of slow start here on this homestead. And it seems like they're getting to the break at the right time. You've got a bunch of injuries. You get to some of those reports. And it seems like the bullpen is pretty tired as often it could come at a better time. The starting rotation has had some cracks, although Michael King was great again yesterday. Major on the other end was not. He was sitting down before yesterday's game and they'll go with the four starters that they need moving forward and, you know, add one arm to that bullpen. But this is kind of what we've seen all season. I tend to put this Seattle Mariners series to a side only because I thought the pitching was that good for an American standpoint. Was I wrong or did Logan Gilbert pitch the best game anyone's pitched against a potter is this year? I know he ended up giving up a couple of runs. But for six innings, he allowed one ground ball single that man, he would have thrown Solano out on that play. So it would have been a no hitter through six innings. He walked one guy. He only threw like 14 pitches, but it was unbelievable how dominant he was. And he didn't even look like he was trying out there. That guy has the smoothest delivery I've ever seen. And that, you know, that I didn't mind. I was a little frustrated to get shut down by Bryce Miller only because Bryce Miller came in with the worst road ERA in baseball. And you look at his home ERA. He's he's a tough customer 2.36 or something up in Seattle, but he'd struggled on the road. And, you know, I think the game was all came down to that second inning yesterday. They had him on the ropes at bases loaded and, you know, they get three or four runs there. And that changes everything, but it didn't happen. So and to me, that is, that is, you know, hey, that's what the Padres have done. One of the things they've done really well is getting those situations and get something out of it. They needed to get pro far up there with the bases loaded. Unfortunately, it was Kim in that spot. And then it took, you know, a terrific deal from Julio Rodriguez who seemingly found his stroke in that series as well at the what for hits to in that first game. Yeah. And so yeah, they've lost they've lost four straight down out loud to at this homestead Braves come to town tomorrow. And you know, you try to get a couple before you get the all-star break. I will say this, Tony, I think it is important. And we say it's always seems, you know, because we've talked about it already. Let's go back to the original tweet by Bill James. When you're a 500 team, every game seems more important than it really is. But I feel like, you know, after going 12 and three and winning, how many exciting games during that run? You know, you had five walk off wins. You had the pro far grand slam Manny to run Homer game. You had an 11 to one route in Boston, nine to two in Boston. I mean, you had a lot of fun wins during that stretch. So maybe this was to be expected that you come down to earth a little bit. But my point is, if they don't get any wins this weekend, and they're going to be facing Lopez and sale, it looks like Saturday and Sunday, all star all star. If they don't get any wins in this series, they actually would go into the break under 500. And that would be very disappointing, I think to them, because of what they accomplished leading up to this. So, you know, I don't think, you know, this is why I feel like it's important to get, you know, I'd like to get two from the Braves. And, you know, going with a good feeling. I think you need to flip that. You said it'd be very disappointing to them. I think it'd be very disappointing to us. To us. You're right. Okay. They recognize they still got a whole half. They don't want to go in under 500. Yeah, I know you're right. I think it'd be more disappointing to us. Yeah. And it would be disappointing because we'd have to put up with four days of you people on the phones during the all star break, swearing that the season is over for sure. Let by me. Let by me. Yeah. You'd be leading the charge. Yeah. If they go into the all star break on a losing streak, it's like, what are we doing here? Yeah. What are we doing here? You know, look, let me ask you guys a special one. And let's talk about it. Do you guys, I don't know if we remember, do you remember what your guess was where they would finish at the end of the year in terms of wins and losses? Yeah. Yeah. Wasn't it 84 or five? You said 84 or five. That puts them out many over 500. Yeah. Six or seven. So, I think I put them at like 90 wins. You did not. Why did you put them at 90 wins? I predicted that they would win 90 games. I'm pretty sure. Please say please. Why is that so crazy to think? Because nobody predicted they were going to win 90 games this year. They they they shave their payroll practically in a half. They were picked. They were picked a solid fourth in the NL West. The only thing keeping them from going lower being the state of the Rockies. So yeah, I don't I don't know who picked 90 wins. But if you did, you're the only one. Right. And so what would they finish last year? 80 82 and 80 82 and 80. Right. So I mean, they're on the track that I think most people had them on at this point right now. But I think what we've seen this year has given you the feeling that there's more in there. Right. And I just think they haven't gotten to that. We you'll hear a little bit more about this in that round table. We'll have an hour or what at five o'clock. Five o'clock falls are show. But you know, this team largely has been without Joe largely has been without you. When they were around, they weren't necessarily pitching their best. I think they had pockets where they threw the ball very well. The bullpen, I mean, Morty home. Estrada Suarez have been money. Everybody else has been inconsistent at best. Yeah. Again, they've had pockets where they thrown the ball well. They've had pockets where they've thrown the ball. Not so well. Offensively the best stretch. And I said this during the round table, the best stretch this team had when they went 12 and three. I don't think it's a coincidence that Manny Machado swung the bet bet probably at his best hit over 400 had six home runs during that stretch like 18 RBI's in the 15 games. Yeah, walk off home run and you know, you're right, Tony, when he's going, they go. It was your great point that you brought up because even when even one pro far and Merrill and everybody was, you know, playing crazy, they couldn't really get a good run together until Manny joined them. Right. And then when that happened, yeah, 12 and three. So I think it's still capable. A four game losing streak is not going to bother me right now. At this point, aren't these losing streaks should do nothing to any of us? We've seen how many, I feel like all of the wins and all the losses have come via the streak. Well, this is their fifth losing streak, fourth or fifth. Let me say I'm trying to kind of scroll through here. I believe it's their fourth losing streak this season of four more games. So this is happened quite a bit. Now, the first time they lost five in a row, they came back, they went four straight. The next time they lost five in a row, they won 15 and three. So, or 12 and three. Right. So, you know, this four game losing streak could very well be followed by another hot streak. And you know, and if Mike then want to say it, fine, but it's a roller coaster ride. But I think the point that he's tried to make that we haven't necessarily agreed with him on is that baseball is a roller coaster ride. He just doesn't want to get on that because he understands this is going to happen. Anyone over react to it like we are. Right. And when you think about it, the pockets, I mean, the Padres one was it eight out of 10 series at once, at one time, eight out of 11, something along those lines. I mean, that's kind of how you build more wins than losses by by winning series. Now, they've stumbled here the last what two series, they've they've lost after winning for consecutive series, I believe it was. Right. And so this is, this has been the norm for this team. I still contend we haven't seen them at full strength yet for a good period of time. Somebody has always been out. And hopefully, you know, all goes well with Joe's rehab. We continue to send our prayers or our thoughts or what for whatever's happening with you and his family. But those two guys are are mildly important to get back. And if you can't get one back, you know, you're the idea of trade talks coming up as we get closer and closer to the deadline. You got a few prospects teams are interested in. You got a glutton of infielders that make it gets you there. I don't know if that's something AJ wants to do. I don't know if I necessarily think it's something they should do. But those are all things that we're going to be talking about here a lot coming in the next what month or so, not even month or so. What is the deadline now? 31st August 3 July three weeks. I brought it up yesterday. Scrabie and I kind of jumped in on right at the end. We only had 40 minutes yesterday. But we we'll kick it around on the round table later. But I brought a pause on Kim and I just he's not my all time favorite player. But that's neither here nor there. The question is sorry July 30th. I wanted to be. Thank you. The question is whether or not, you know, we should dangle him in a trade. And the problem is, you know, if you do that, then you take away your chance to have your best defense because him at short, Bogey at second, Croner worth at first would be your best defense. And you're going to have that. Looks like this weekend, Bogart's going to come back. So if you traded Kim, you'd have to move somebody to short stop and arise. You'd have to go back to first base. So that's one deal. The other part is he's only a rental to somebody because he's a free agent at the end of the year. So who's going to want to rent Haas on Kim? Well, a contender would. The problem is you're a contender. So it's going to be a pretty difficult trade to make. I'm just trying to figure out a way to get another starting pitcher and use something where I maybe have a little excess. The other spot I looked at is catcher. I mean, I don't know where Campusano is. Maybe there's something, you know, Mike Shilt and the staff thinks that I don't. But, you know, when he comes off the injured list, I expect him to at least be the backup to Gashyoka. He doesn't even get to play yesterday. So is that a signal to Campusano that, you know, he's no longer in the plans. Maybe it's just an overreaction to a, you know, a week stretch where he's really hasn't played. But we just got off the aisle. Right. But I would anyway, we do have a couple of spots where we might be able to make a move, but it's going to be so difficult to make, and which leads me to think they might have to dip into the farm thing again, because they absolutely have to get another pitcher with this Darvish situation. You know, it's almost imperative, right? I mean, are you bringing up to catching as a way to be able to get a pitcher? Is that what you're saying? Well, I don't think that's why. I don't think Campusano alone could get you the kind of pitcher that you want. I don't know that the catching, I mean, I think Kyle got hot and has been able to play well. He's thrown the ball well. His defense has been well, but I don't think that means it's his job for the rest of his way. I think he's going to make sure he's going to play the hot hand. Campusano most likely didn't play in that last game because you had a left handed catcher that it was up there that could actually, you know, match up better. Left handed hitter. Yeah. Excuse me. Left handed hitter. Right. That is a catcher. And so I, I, I agree that it seems like the rotation is where your eyes are, but I mean, the bullpen's another spot that you know, that you can look at as well, but that'll be decisions that they pay AJ Preller for. And he's probably hard at work. And those are decisions that they pay us to speculate about unfortunately. So we have to sit here and speculate when we really truly don't know. I know we're not in the business of talking about next year yet. But no, we're not. There's a lot that needs to be done this off season. Like we don't care about next year right now. Is there a chance to trade Dylan Cease away? We get someone else because he's only got one year of control. We don't care right now. All right. We're in July 11th. Can we in a trade away pro far too? Because he's a, he's a free agent at the end of the year? No, he's untradable. So by the way, but you're only worried about next year. Yeah. You're right. Zander Bogart's everybody wants to trade him, but he's got a new trade class. He's not going away. Yeah, he's not going away. Sander Bogart's going to come back and have a holiday. She's second half of the season and shut everybody out there up. And I'm saying it because I'm hoping to speak it into existence so that we don't have to hear from everybody for the next two months about what a, you know, first of all drag he's been this guy had a had a 280 year last year, 19 homers, 19 steals. And yet everyone looks at last season and says he was awful. He wasn't awful. I did a whole thing on the Scravey show about Zander Bogart's being number one almost and everything. We should be rooting that he comes back. Yes, because he's on our team. If he does, why are going to root against the lineup gets tougher. So for sure, let's not trade him. Let's root for him to come back and be the Zander of the second half of the last season, watch his offense. But shoot, let's get the break. When we come back, we got more baseball, Sean Burles. You guys, we talked about that when he passed more news about that has come out. We'll talk a little bit about that. We also got the homerun Derby field is set. Got what else we got? Winning Chris FAQ, huh? It's back. And we got a fair foul. Fair foul. We got it all for you guys. Wait, wait, wait, wait, there's Gwyn and Chris FAQ. I wasn't notified. I wasn't notified of you. No tie. No tie. No tie. Little hanky little pocket square. Really? Yeah. Who does the folding of the pocket square for you? That'll be me. You know, your own. Yes, I do. Very good. You know, I might roll with a tie to that. I like kind of notin up every one. Yes, it's nice and cool out there, Tony. You're gonna want to cinch that shirt way up. That's the only reason why I woke up. That could be the draw back to it. Of course, yesterday, and I know this was a, you know, had to be a tough day for you, Tony. And I say that ahead of time. But I know, you know, the fans got a kick out of, you know, I'm sure seeing the guys from 1984 pop out. Yeah. You know, your mother did a, you know, as a, she looked fantastic, by the way. Thank you. And she came on out on the lines there. And, you know, as your dad was honored, but I really enjoyed it. You know, I mean, I was here in 1984. I know a lot of people were and we look back on it with pretty fond memories. I mean, it was the first time, you know, our Padres ever made any kind of noise anywhere in Major League Baseball. And, you know, I always like to see the garve come out. And, you know, Terry Kennedy was there TK. You guys had template Tempe on the television for an inning. And I loved hearing him talk. Yeah. But, you know, seeing Dave Dravicki and being reminded, you know, that this a guy who basically gave his left arm to the game of baseball, right? I mean, he broke it on a pitch. And then they found this was it some cancer, I think, in his arm. And he lost his arm. To see Dave Dravicki was fantastic. And, you know, whoever, everybody else, the one guy that stood out to me the most yesterday was Ed Witson. And I say this because, because Ed looked fantastic. Yeah. He came out there and I'm like, well, he looks like he could go five innings. And what I remember about Ed Witson was that the guy was a chain smoker who actually smoked on during games he pitched there. They're built different. If you can believe that bill different. Can you still smoke as a player? No, I know stadiums allowing you to say that's true. That's true. That's true. That's true. I know. Jim Leland used to sneak in the cigarettes all the time. But Ed Witson, I was just a young, you know, guy came down to the clubhouse or the locker room one day or the dugout during a game because I was a film runner for the paper. I had to pick up some film and take it back to the, to the newspaper. And I walked down that, remember that long walkway that call come from the locker room down to the field. And I see a guy sitting in a director's chair down in the opening of that walkway. And he's got his cigarette going and he's, you know, they have a shirt off. No, I think he had a shirt on. It was always walking around his shirt. Right. But no, he had his, I think he had his jersey on because he was actually pitching in that game. And when the ending was over, I actually saw him put his cigarette out, toss it to the side and then run out the tunnel and back out onto the mound. And I thought, this is something I've never thought I would see. Smoking is bad, really, really, really bad. But there's something cool to me about smoking it as you walk to the mound. Witson, man. I think if they would have let him put it, set it there on the rubber next to him, he would have done it. A lawn dart. But I guess the bottom line is like, you know, Ed walked out. He looked healthier than is healthy as anybody. It was fun to see everybody. A lot of those guys look good. Yeah. I mean, it was, I mean, less, I think for me, it wasn't as hard yesterday. You know, I get through the month of May and June, you know, it's a little bit easier after those two months. It's just fun to see those guys going to chat with Tempe during the game yesterday. That was great. I was glad they did that. I like to see, you know, I think people have to remember, you know, outside of what? The Marlins, the Rockies, the Rays, and the Diamondbacks. There ain't too many teams younger than the Padres. That's right. Yeah. When the Padres came into baseball, there were 24 teams and they came in with the Expose, the Royals and the pilots who immediately turned around and became the Brewers. So that came to the 28 and now there's what 30 30 30 exactly. So yeah, there's not many more. And so, you know, I think because of that, you know, the Padres don't have a ton of history, you know, they haven't been able to have like the success of maybe like the Marlins and the Diamondbacks who've been relatively young and all have world series titles. Right. And so, you know, the history for the Padres in Portland, I saw it similar in Milwaukee when I was there, right? That 82 team was the only thing anybody ever talked about it. They were in the world series in 2006. Yeah. But it was the only thing they could talk about. And so I know these historic teams, at least in this franchise is important. Absolutely. And it's fun to see all those guys, kudos of the Padres having them all there yesterday. All right. We got another minute in this segment, the passing of Sean Burroughs. And this happened a couple of months ago. But we've come to find out that it was a fentanyl overdose that caused accidental overdose that caused the death. And we bringing this up, not to cast any light on Sean Burroughs, because that's not going to do anybody any good. But what is going to do somebody's some good out there is a reminder to please be careful with this thing. I mean, it is, who knows, he might have just been taking a over-the-counter medicine. It could have been, we don't know. I don't. Probably wasn't over-the-counter. Yeah. But we don't need to speculate on that. The point is, is I don't think that this is something he knew he was taking. What we know is that. The cost of his life. Fentanyl is somehow, not somehow, is being put in as a, whatever they use it for. A filler. A filler to, you know, for some other drugs that are being sold on the, sold on the streets. And I don't, in some cases, we don't know if Scott, if Sean is one of those cases, but in some cases, people don't know they're actually taking it. In a lot of cases, people don't know they're actually taking it. And so, you know, it's, it's a gamble, you know, when you're, you're, you're, but that is a gamble that is really not worth taking. No. You lose that one. I think it's a, I think it's a really important thing to remember that, like this stuff, you could only do it once and it's, you're. And don't even have to be that much. No. And it's over. It's that powerful. Like being in the rooms that I'm in, sometimes the AA rooms hearing some of these stories of these people that are like literally taking their lives in their hands playing Russian roulette. That's just scary. I mean, that might sound like an over exaggeration, but I mean, that's virtually what it is. Russian roulette. I also think people need to maybe keep Narcan around them, which is like a, it counteracts the opiate overdose. So that like, because I know I have some of my house just in case, you never know when you're going to need it because it's, it's, it's, when you use it, you'll hopefully never use it again, but you'll be so happy that you had it because it will help someone. Yeah. Well, you're, you're in those circles, probably more than anybody I know. I've heard some people tell me about using that stuff before. And it's like, yes, it saves your life, but it just, all of that stuff isn't, it's just so bad for your brain, your body, everything. It just takes everything from you. So please don't do it, everybody. But yeah, really, this is not something to mess around with. Burrows did die May 9th at the age of 43. And I would like to, um, real quickly address the people in the comments that say, Oh man, this guy couldn't even quit when he was doing it going to his kids literally game. It's not all about that people. Like, come on. Yeah, seriously. His son, I don't know anything about the situation, but being found outside your car is just so tragic. Yeah. Anyway. Yeah. It's a, it's a really sad story, but it, you know, it needs to be, you know, reminded again and again to just, you know, make, be, be so careful and don't take those kinds of chances. They're not necessary. All right. Uh, with that said, both Tony and I are going to wade into this next segment. Quinn and Chris, F a Q. Blimey. I don't even know what Scrabies got for us, but it's questions that are really designed to embarrass us. So we'll find out about it. Next. Last series before the break. Sunday theme game tickets are available. Now, they're giving away these baseball card pens. I think they're awesome. Awesome. Called player pens. The, the peanut gallery really wants these things. Sounds like these are huge items. I'm not kidding. They're big deals, half a sound right there. And then we got no, no Joe, baby. No, no Joe. These are pretty sweet, man. Can't be the earring dangles in the bin. Oh, it does. I mean, they give you a little tighter look at that. You see it? Oh, yeah. That's nice. I think that's kind of cool. But you have to get a theme game ticket only though. I saw Don the other night be like, you have to buy a theme game ticket. I'm sure that people, you know, I would have missed a lot of people come to the game Sunday and expect these are going to be handed out to everybody. And they're not going to get a special game game to take a game game. I want to get the Jackson, Mary, Merrill Christmas t shirt. I saw you monitoring that yesterday. Very comfortable. Looks good. Yeah, man. It's like a good shirt. Exactly. Come out. That's another theme game joint. I know. I don't know exactly what day it is, though. Yeah, I'm going to look forward to that. All right. No traffic. Let's get to our winning Chris. Yeah, we'll get in open for this, too. We got two segments and he opens now. But last time we did this, we had a pretty good time. I'll get into the way it works in just a second, but the sour 97 through the fan is brought to you by the farmer's dog. Fresh human grade dog food from a healthier weight to more energy. When you switch your dog's food to the farmer's dog, the effects can feel magical. What sorcery is this, Chris? None at all. Maybe it's just your dog eat. Does your dog eat this? He has. Okay. It's just real food made for the health of dogs. Get 50% off your first box at the farmers dog.com/radio. Now yesterday, my dog was the most well-behaved dog in the studio. And Chris's dog was not that well-behaved. Kylie? Kylie, yes. Kylie, the dog. Is Kylie okay? She's fine. Okay. She's, she wasn't, she wasn't digging her, her place. She was just uncomfortable running around looking for food and barking during the show. She was barking at Jeff Hamby, who was just sitting outside. Yeah, I didn't. Her appearance did not go well. So she's fine. She was fine. She was fine. All right. So here's how it works. We, there's four categories. Chris questions, Tony questions, Scrabby questions, group questions. Chris is going to roll the die and that determines who has to answer a question. Right. So Chris, go ahead and roll the die. All right. First number up is five. Okay. Do it again. Oh, five. I need to find a four-sided die. Four lower? Four. A four-sided guy? I don't know if they have them, but they do actually. They do. Yeah. Go to a game shop. You can find any side of die. Have you started your magic lessons yet, Chris? Nope. This weekend. This weekend. Yeah. I didn't hear about that. I signed up for, I'm going to learn how to do magic. Starting this weekend. Taking my first lesson. I can't wait to get you to do some magic tricks. All right. The group question is, if you won the lottery, would you quit your job? Chris, you go. All right. No, I don't think so. You wouldn't. No, I really enjoy this job. Okay. And this is a bit of a life goal situation with me is to stay, you know, mentally attached as long as I can, and have something, you know, to be getting up and, you know, looking forward to every day. Okay. And so, it matters. I worry about some of my friends who are, because I'm getting, you know, to that age a little bit where some of my friends are retiring, and I think they like it. They tell me they like it, but I'm not, you know, it doesn't sound great to me. Yeah. Sitting, getting up every day and okay, you know, it sounds fun for a few days, but like forever and ever. So, no, I think I would definitely want to work. Tony, would you quit your job? I'd quit one of my jobs. We don't know which one I would. Yeah. I see it. I agree with Chris. I have seen it. I think we've all seen it. Like somebody we know who's older, retire, and decline, because they don't, it seems like we're not only proof, but it seems like, you don't have that thing that you're focused on that it keeps your mind active. Yeah. Yeah. It pulls you through. Yeah. That's kind of scary. So, I would definitely want to continue to work, especially at this age. I'm only 41. So, yeah, that's true. And I want to add one thing. I have no chance of winning the lottery, because I do not play the lottery. I don't play here. I don't play here. My wife plays sometimes. I really get a kick out of the fact that when it gets to 200 million dollars, people play as if winning 14 million won't be enough. For me, makes no sense. I couldn't even quit my job fast enough. Yeah, I could tell. And I couldn't even find an island to buy fast enough. I guarantee after you quit your job, you'd be back working doing something. No, I would definitely do something like, I would give you less than six months. I would do it on my own. Like, I would employ myself to do something. You'd be your boss. Yeah, yeah. But I joke when I say I would get out here as fast as possible. I mean, like Krista, this is a dream job. I worked my way up here. But there is something free about not having not being tied down by the man. Not being tied down by the man, Chris. I like the man. I like that. He likes the man apparently. The man is definitely strapping us down for sure. All right, roll the dice, Chris. Oh, two, two is a Tony question. All right. Oh, this is a good one. What's the most embarrassing moment you have had with another baseball player? What does that mean? It could be anything. It could be you were with Prince Fielder and you tripped and fell in front of a bunch of fans. I don't know. Something on the field. I know the turf monster in the we've gone over the turf monster plenty enough times there. Scravey. And if you haven't gone over enough, I'm sure Scravey will tweet out the video again. Oh, man. I think I got a good one. So I can't remember which spring training is might have been like '07 or '08. Brady Clark was on our team, an older teammate, but was really into health stuff. And he had this concoction of spices, like lemon juice, and then I cleaned you out. Oh, wow. And so this was right around the time. I think Prince was, was vegan. And so he took this. And so he had been like, he drank, like chugged it. And like we, and he might not have been feeling well that day. And so, you know, spring training is the games in. So we're on our way back. And at the time, this is when we were younger. So instead of being smart and living close to the field, we were like, we wanted to stay in Scottsdale. So it was from Maryville, to Scottsdale. It was like a 45 minute drive during the weekday. And my man, that, that, what's the, what is the spice that is in some of these drinks a lot of times? I can't remember what it is, but he drank this concoction. And I tell you, we got in the car and it must have hit him. And this man had to throw up. Oh, no. And so like he's out the window. Prince Fielders. Yeah. Like it's cleaning them out. Oh, I mean, he, and before that, like he was sweating like profusely. So I, you could just, you could, whatever it was in that drink was starting to do his job. It's cleaning him out. That's really funny. Can you imagine just driving on the freeway and seeing Prince Fielders throwing? Nobody's just like looking at like, oh, look, that's pretty. He had his head out the window. Probably like, oh, this guy's probably drunk right now paying the price. Uh, that's probably the most, I don't know if it was embarrassing for me. No, that's fine. That's a good story. I know why we're putting each other on the spot with these questions. So it's, we, we accept many different answers. Uh, I have thrown up on a freeway because I was too drunk. So there you go. Chris. Oh, I got a better one. Oh, yeah. But my first, freshman year of college, San English state, this is a good one. Um, we decide to play Century Club. Oh, man. I don't think, no, we've talked about this off the air. I, I played Century Club 100 shots of beer in 100 minutes. The catch was I didn't drink beer at the time. So I think I'm drinking, I think I'm drinking Sky vodka. Oh man. Oh my goodness. Pine apple soda. Oh my goodness. Like little shot glasses. I probably made it to like 33. That's a lot. And then I, and then I don't remember very much. I remember like spots. I remember like the toilet. I remember pizza coming. And then I remember the next day. And the thing I remember most was the next day we had this practice and I was like, I'm hungover. I'm not going to practice. I get a call from one of my older teammates, Ben, Julie, and I was like, hey, man. I heard you had a good time last night. That's awesome. Make sure you're at practice. I had, uh, I had my roommates. They went and got me some McDonald's. Oh, nice. Kind of some grease. Yeah. Yeah, you have to have grease. Thugged it out. Thugged it out through that practice. And you know what? Because I made it through, most of them, all of them told me that was when you, you got our respect. Because you went out, you did your thing, but you showed up, you practice, no big deal. Yeah. If you're going to, if you're going to play, you got to. So it was embarrassing to be, remember spots of the night, like toilet pizza. And then, you know, waking up the next day, but I earned the respect of my team. I love that. I can obviously totally imagine the, what happened last night? Oh, God, there's that toilet. Oh, there was some pizza. The thing is, I didn't even wake up in the same place we started. So clearly I had some good roommates because they got me in bed. I don't remember any of that. We're going to be talking about Mike Gundy. I believe in the, yeah, five. I'm looking ahead. Yeah. I believe you got his respect. Oh, yeah. I think I would have. Mike Gundy would be so proud of you. All right. Roll the die. Oh, sorry. Four. Scrady question. No. Four is everybody. Oh, yeah. You're right. Um, all right. Let's ask an easy question. Chris, who did you look up to when starting your career? Um, what do you mean? Like when you, it's all, all those go first. When I was growing up, Joe Starkey was the guy who called 49ers football. And I love Joe Starkey. And always interested in me in radio. And ever since I heard him, I was just a radio freak. So Joe Starkey, the 49ers play by play guy. Okay. Take Vince Scully, Chick Hearn, Dick Enberg, and Bob Miller. Hey, the only one L.A. and answers. Bob Miller was the Kings. Oh, okay. And he was just as legendary as the other guys. It's just that, you know, the hockey didn't have the same cache, but Bob Miller could could broadcast Tony. Tony Gwen. Oh, you're dad. You're pretty good. Got a pretty good guy. I guess you can answer this question many different ways, because you kind of have two careers. You had a baseball career and you had a broadcast career. Still in the middle one. What's the next one? Three. Oh, that's a great question. I'll ask this one. You don't get to ask your own question. Oh, Tony's got one. He's trying to find the most diabolical one. I know. Have you ever almost quit on the guys? That's guys? Yes. Oh, well, other than yesterday and the day before that and the day before that. I have I ever almost quit. I don't think I've ever been to the point where I've almost quit, but I've been to the point like where I've been thinking on a drive home or something like, man, I can find something else to do with my life. You've had that one multiple times. Yeah, you just have a bad day and you just drive it home and you're like, but that's quitting on the job. This question, I believe has to do with quitting on Tony and I. Yeah, yeah, like walking out during a show. Oh, okay. All right. All right. Here, got one. When you guys forced me into the whole type of thing, I was with you a bit. I was legitimately mad because because we say so many different things on the show and that one for whatever reason stuck and then Chris, who does sorry, Chris, who does nothing immediately in the break calls the time place and finds the food and like, put this thing all together. I'm like, Chris, you, you know, hey, I've done you for six years. Hey, that did come together pretty fast. It rolled down here pretty quick. It rolled down here. I was actually really bad. He was all along with it and then it got serious and he got pissed. Then we're going to ask you one last thing on the tie thing. Oh, gosh, what is the all-time record for YouTube viewers we've ever had on this show? Probably the tie thing. I don't see his trade, but I don't know any about the tie thing. I got another three. Oh, ask another one describing. What bothers you most about Chris? Where do I start? Oh, it seems like the segment's about over here. I know. I know. Where do I start? I would say there's a couple things. The first is the crackers. There's a crackers. I hate the crackers. He has the stupid crackers today. No crackers today. Then I think the in-show thing is when I go, hey, man, we really need to get into this thing quick. And then Chris is like eight minutes into reading scores from ESPN.com. And I give him the look like, dude, we don't have any time anymore. That is like, we start Chris. There's the fans at four. I cannot even be looking at that screaming. It can just feel him shaking his head like, I can't believe what's going on. I do do the hand thing. I do look really angry in the corner. Just so you know, then oftentimes I set out to make it a very short segment, but it gets good to me sometimes. And I just ramble on. Sorry about that. Yeah, there's there's other things, but that's the biggest thing. I actually like this segment. This is fun. All right, we need to make it. We should have did the 1850s one for the group one. Oh, yeah, that would have been a good one. We'll get to it next time. Let's get to break three o'clock hour on the way. That means a dose of the daily camp. And we head into hour number two of Gwen and Chris. Happy Thursday to you, Chris Ello, Tony Gwen Jr, Matt Scrabie, all together in the Odyssey Palace studios until five o'clock. Then it'll be the commercial free hour of Padre baseball talk, the round table, coming up between five and six p.m. And after that Scrabie Chronicles from six to seven. So we have most of your evening planned for you while the Padres are idle today. And while they are idle, the Padres have actually fallen out of the playoff spot. The New York Mets passed the Padres. By a single percentage point today, but the Mets shut out Washington seven nothing. So the Mets and Padres are in a virtual tie, but the Mets with a percentage point lead in that wild card race. Diamondbacks are gaming a half back Giants, two and a half Pirates. Now only two and a half back. Speaking of the Pirates, Paul Skeens, he's going to make it real tough on Jackson Merrill to win that rookie of the year. I mean, I want Jackson to get it. I think a guy that plays every day in center field and the whole thing and all year deserves a lot of credit. But Skeens goes out and pitches no hit ball today again. For seven innings, they take him out after 99 pitches. And they shut out Milwaukee one nothing. He's six and O with a one nine ERA. Got to get through the whole season. That's right. We're got to hope that's that's that's the deal. We see pitchers often come up and get out the gates like this. Can it be sustained? Looks like it right now looks like there's nothing going to stop them. But that's what this you should start the All-Star game. Should they take it that far next Tuesday and put them out there to open the game? He's making it very hard for him not to start the All-Star. Right. I'm just saying. I wasn't a proponent of him starting the All-Star game. I think I said it on the show. But he keeps going out doing this kind of stuff. It's it becomes really hard to keep it off of the mound. You know, 99 pitches rookie season. It's a different day and age. I mean, they would have never taken this guy out 15 years ago. But there was no way they're going to let him have a chance to finish today. But I think it's the second time he's pitched no hit ball this year and been taken out. Yeah, he's pretty good. It's off to a really good start. So what are you going to say? Cody Bellinger going to take him off the trade for list at least for a while goes on the injured list broken finger suffered yesterday hit by pitch. And that's pretty much the baseball news of the day while the Padres are off. We got a daily gambit to get to. So before I talk too long and Scrabby throws up his arms. Yeah. Let's get to it. Do you like money? I think about money. Do you like money without doing anything? Winning. Do you want to make money while watching sports? I think Washington is immortal luck. Washington. If you answer yes, this is your segment. Just don't blame us when you lose. Nothing is ever your fault. It's your game. Take it. Gwen and Chris go through the top bets of the day in the daily gambit on 97.3 the fan. Daily Gambit is our daily sports betting segment here on Gwen and Chris. Please everybody gamble responsibly. We will be going over some of the bets that we made on Tuesday which started with Euro Cup play England and the Netherlands. Chris and I both said England and England did win two to one. So congratulations to them. Thrilling match. They score in the 91st minute. Oh yeah, that's what you're saying yesterday to beat the Netherlands. Yeah, setting off a celebration like no other. I don't know if you saw the Instagram or posts. No, the celebration like in London where they all gather to watch the game. My English brother and sisters can only imagine what that was like. They know how to get down. Yes, they do. That was the first time England actually looked like the team that everybody expected to see right there. Yeah, I got a lot on the chat yesterday about how England is like, I hate to say it this way, but it was put this way. England's like the Padres. They have a big playoff win every once in a while. I don't know enough about it to say that. I don't know their whole history. I know they're going to play Spain for the title on Sunday. The Euro Cup champion. Are you going to be cheering for the English? Huh? I was cheering for the English this time because I've been to England. Okay, but now I've also been to Spain. Yes. No, I don't know who to cheer for. Which place did you like more? England. No, because I could find my way around easier. Oh my gosh. Canada, Argentina over under two and a half total goals in the game. Chris said under. I said over. Chris was correct. Argentina won two nil. That's annoying. That was the that's the Copa America, which is going on. Concurrently to the Euro Cup championship. I'm so happy. So Argentina will play Columbia in that final. Columbia beat Uruguay one nil last night. When did Chris become this like a expert? Yeah, I'm pretty good. It's the Copa. Yeah, the Uruguayan players went up into the stands after the game, which is a little unnerving. It's a little scary. But Tony said that that was. That's what I read. Yes, it was because there was family members that were getting heckled and there were problems there after the match. You know, and soccer, I think it's a different set of rules. Fans, I'm not quite sure what they said. They get their arms. Right. So, you know, sometimes his play, he might have to go up there and give somebody some work. Let's just give him somebody to the business. Just the way it goes. I will say this. I did see a clip of one of the Colombian players just flat out through the elbow right in the mug of your, no, Uruguayan player got he got ejected. Columbia hung on with 10 men. See, I know my soccer terminology better than I think. It's you, Chris. That's right. Play down a man. I'm still one. All right. All right. That's enough. Let's see. The next one would be Taylor Fritz against Moosetti. And we both chose Fritz. He was a five and a half game game favorite, but he lost outright. So we lost that. Lost in five. It was disappointing exit for the Dory Pines High grad. Thought he was going to go to his first grand slam semi-final. That was after Fritz upset. My man too came back. Verev. Yeah. And then he just he let he let it slip in the fifth set. He got blown out. Six one. Now I was looking for the result of Djokovic and Demenar, but it did not walk over. It was that mean. That means that Demenar could not play. Oh, so he he moves on. Yeah. Djokovic moves on and that bet is nil and void. All right. Null and void. Next one. Tuesday night fillies and Dodgers fillies are one and a half run favorites and both of us chose the fills and we were right because the fills won 10 to one that night. Last night the fills hung on by about four feet. All right. I think it was Rojas for the Dodgers hit one to the fence and Castellanos potted at the right at the wall. That's what's so disappointing about that series. That's what's so disappointing about the Padres losing four in a row because the Dodgers are losing. They could be gaining ground right now. Oh, the Dodgers could be winning right now while the Padres losing in space. It was loud. Mariners and Padres over total over under eight runs and the Tuesday night game both of us went under both of us wrong. Mariners eight Padres three total of 11 runs. Yeah. And remember I said at the time this was an automatic to bet under because a Logan Gilbert wasn't going to go up any runs be the Mariners couldn't score runs and didn't say that. And I mean a dude who had been struggling all season decided to have a big day in who their Rodriguez and rally combined for six of the seven runs. Yeah, so annoying. All right, Chris, that's it. All right. Here we go for today. I'm eight and three this week. Nice. Which is kind of good. You're five and six, which is, you know, all right. Tony's level par zero zero. Here we go tonight. It'll be the Phillies and Dodgers again. Phillies go for the sweep with Aaron Nola on the mound. They're favored by one and a half runs over the Dodgers. Game is actually in the top of the first inning. So hurry up and make your bet. So I'll go first. I'm going to go with the Dodgers. I don't think they lose three in a row. I'm not going to get swept. I say they'll get swept. I hope they get swept because the Dodgers are there. Well, it was listed here and now that the game is under not listed anymore. It's somebody I've never heard of. Oh, it's the young kid. Yeah, the Dodgers. You're going to go with the young kid. All right. Who stright? Who? I'm sorry. Who lasts longer tonight? Who pitches longer into their game? Luis Castillo for the Mariners at the Angels or Max Freed of the Braves pitching in Arizona. So the bet is more innings. More innings pitched. Castillo or Freed. I'm going to go. I'm going to go Castillo here. Castillo. Yeah. Mariner's pitching is good. Tony. Freed's good to you. Yeah. Oh, how's about to say sale? Give me. Sale will not give me your first. What was the first one? Castillo. Give me Castillo. You got them. Scrammy. Ah, as a contrarian. I'm afraid that I'm going to go to Max Freed there. A's in Red Sox tonight. Ten runs over under at Fenway Park. A's Red Tony, your first on this one. A's at Fenway. A's at Fenway. Luis Medina, Tanner, how are they starting? Herlers in this game. Tanner, how to? Okay. All right. Get your, get your mind out of the gutter. That's not. No. No. His name is how it just makes me think of how to. That's gutter. That's gutter talk. No one knows what you're talking about. Tell me what they're talking about. Give me the Red Sox. And by the way, Chris, last time you told me a step saying that the air, all the parents told me their kids already. Excuse me. Give me under. Under. I'm going to go. Everybody's parents said their kids already knew what Hawk 2A was. Yeah, because it's on TikTok and stuff. That's not a good. They know way before. Yeah. What'd you say, Scrammy? Under? Yeah. All right. I'll go over. But Tanner Hawk is pretty good. All right. Tomorrow, Jocovitch is favored by six and a half games over the young Italian, Lorenzo Musetti, semi finals at Wimbledon, six and a halfs a lot. But it is Jocovitch against a young, a relatively unknown 25th ranked Italian. I'm going to go with Musetti though. I have a feeling about this kid and he's going to give, he's going to push Jocovitch tomorrow, I feel. Okay. Even though Jocovitch got the walkover win in the last round. All right. Tony. Six and a half games. Just got to win by. So if it's like six, three, six, three, six, three, nine, nine, give me a set of away. I can't I don't know. I can't root for the Joker right now. You're still upset with him for his good night. I love me some Joker after that. You like that. You're going to pick. You know, they should do they should defend. They shouldn't do anything. They shouldn't cheer. They shouldn't boo. That would bother you. You didn't like that. We respected you. Now we just aren't going to do anything. Well, he is playing a guy named Musetti. So the fans can build you. They might go that round. No, I've been on the tour 20 years. I know all the tricks. I know all the tricks. You can't get me. The other Wimbledon semi final is a pretty tip top matchup between Alcaraz and Medvedev to the top five players in the world. 39 and a half games is the over under total games played. Have to go at least four sets, probably five to get over that number. And Tony's up first. Medvedev. Medvedev Alcaraz. Over. Over. Scrabby. I'm going to go over too. Over. Sounds like an over. Sounds like a five set thriller. Tonight in the WNBA, New York Liberty favored by nine and a half over the Chicago sky. Liberty Liberty have the best record in the WNBA. Right now, as they have passed Connecticut for the lead in the Eastern Division, I'll take the Liberty, but you know, that's just me. Scrabby. You know what I got to say? Angel Reese is pretty good. You're like an angel Reese now. I mean, she's proven it. She's doing it. Didn't she have a bunch of double doubles? She said the record. I think she's still got a she's got a streak going right now. 14 consecutive games. So she's backing up, you know, the trash talk. I was backing it up. Although the other night she took a little flack and I don't think it was warranted, but they were way ahead and she had nine points and the clock was running out. She got that but she started calling for the ball. I was like, give me the ball. I threw a tour and she got fouled and she made the free throws and she went over. I got a double double. So I'm going to go sky go Chicago. Tony Liberty Liberty Liberty Liberty Liberty Liberty Liberty. Very good. Angel Reese is on the board here. 12 and a half rebounds over or under just said she's been over 14 consecutive games on double digit rebounds. But will she go over 12 and a half tonight? Scrabby. I'm going to say under she gets like 11 11 you say. Okay, Tony. Angel Reese 12 and a half boards over over. You know, there are some angel Reese haters out there and I think it's getting a little unfair. They're starting to call her Moses Malone now because she's bad. She's batting her board. By throwing the ball up and missing and grabbing rebounds. Is this happening? Even if it is happening a little bit, I don't know if it's happening all the time rebound is tough. Yeah, like you you risking it by throwing it back up there. That's true. That's true. There's only been two guys I saw do that. It was Moses Ed shut. No three Dennis used to do that all the time. But Rodman didn't do it on purpose. He just couldn't make the shot. I see him bat that ball off the board many times. That's all the Lakers all the time. What'd you say Scrab? I said under. All right, Tony, you said over over over. I'm gonna say I'm gonna say over just because all the haters 13 rebounds at least for Angel Reese tonight. There's our daily gambit. See how it all turns out? When we reconvene tomorrow? Yes, sir. In the meantime, let me remind everybody that this hour 97 through the fan is well, it's already been brought to you by the farmer's dog. Good job, but you actually read the top of the sheet, Chris, and I'm going to the tip top of the shot. Yep. Yep. Before we before the show, we need to talk about reads reminder for myself. Is that what you wanted me to read you? Yes. So we'll be talking about that in the break. All right. All right. I don't know what that means, but I guess it won't happen to do with anybody out there since you're telling them what we're going to do during the break, and they won't be able to hear. That's true. That's true. Brilliant, Scrabby, brilliant strategy by you. Morgan and Chris after traffic. Scrabby has notified me that this is a short segment. Well, now I'm seeing the clock. We got nine minutes. Yeah, let's say this doesn't seem like it's going to be that short for all of you, a sports. It's in the game. College football fans. I do it while making coffee. I do it in the car. I do it when the kids are asleep. What are they all doing? Using Derma Clara's 100% medical grade silicone patches, safe, natural and effective. We've done your homework. And we head into hour number two of Gwen and Chris. Happy Thursday to you, Chris Ello. Tony Gwen Jr., Matt Scrabby, all together in the Odyssey Palace studios until five o'clock. Then it'll be the commercial free hour of Padre de Baseball Talk, the round table, coming up between five and six p.m. And after that, Scrabby chronicles from six to seven. So we have most of your evening planned for you while the Padres are idle today. And while they are idle, the Padres have actually fallen out of the playoff spot. The New York Mets passed the Padres by a single percentage point today, but the Mets shut out Washington seven nothing. So the Mets and Padres are in a virtual tie, but the Mets with a percentage point lead in that wildcard race. Diamondbacks are game and a half back Giants, two and a half Pirates. Now only two and a half back. Speaking of the Pirates, Paul Skins, he's going to make it real tough on Jackson Merrill to win that rookie of the year. I mean, I want Jackson to get it. I think a guy that plays every day and center field and the whole thing and all year deserves a lot of credit, but Skins goes out and pitches no hit ball today again for seven innings. They take him out after 99 pitches and they shut out Milwaukee won nothing. He's six and oh with a one nine ERA. The guy get through the whole season. That's right. We're got to hope that's that's that's the deal. We see pitchers often come up and get out the gates like this. Can it be sustained? Looks like it right now. Looks like there's nothing going to stop them, but that's what this is. Do you think you should start the all-star game? Should they take it that far next Tuesday and put them out there to open the game? He's making it very hard for him not to start the all-star game. I'm just saying. I wasn't a proponent of him starting the all-star game. I think I said it on the show, but he keeps going out and doing this kind of stuff. It's it becomes really hard to keep it off of the mound. You know, 99 pitches rookie season. It's a different day and age. I mean, they would have never taken this guy out 15 years ago, but there was no way they're going to let him have a chance to finish today. But I think it's the second time he's pitched no hit ball this year and been taken out. Yeah, he's pretty good. It's not a really good start. So what are you going to say? Cody Bellinger, going to take him off the trade for list, at least for a while, goes on the injured list, broken finger. Uh oh, suffered yesterday, hit by pitch, and that's pretty much the baseball news of the day while the pod reads are off. We got a daily gambit to get to. So before I talk too long and scrape, he throws up his arms. Yeah, let's get ready to do it. Let's get to it. Do you like money? I think about money a lot. Please everybody, gamble responsibly. We will be going over some of the bets that we made on Tuesday, which started with Euro Cup play England and the Netherlands. Chris and I both said England and England did win two to one. So congratulations to them. Thrilling match, right? They score in the 91st minute. Oh, yeah, that's what you're saying yesterday to beat the Netherlands. They have a big playoff win every once so long. I don't know enough about it to say that. I don't know their whole history. I know they're going to play Spain for the title on Sunday, the Euro Cup championship. Are you going to be cheering for the English? I was cheering for the English this time because I've been to England. Okay, but now I've also been to Spain. Yes, no, I don't know who to cheer for. Which place did you like more? England, huh? Because I could find my way around easier. Oh my gosh. Canada, Argentina over under two and a half total goals in the game. Chris said under, I said over Chris was correct. Argentina won two nil. That's annoying. That was the that's the Copa America, which is going on concurrently to the Euro Cup championship. I'm so happy. So Argentina will play Colombia in that final. Colombia beat Uruguay one nil last night. When did Chris become this like the expert? Yeah, I'm pretty good. It's the Copa. Yeah, the Uruguayan players went up into the stands after the game, which is a little unnerving. It's a little scary, but Tony said that that was. That's what I read. Yes, it was because there was family members that were getting heckled and there were problems there after the match. You know, and soccer, I think it's a different set of rules. Fans, I'm not quite sure what they think they're already rules, right? So, you know, sometimes it's a play you might have to go up there and give somebody some work. Let's just give somebody the business. That's just the way it goes. I will say this. I did see a clip of one of the Colombian players just flat out through the elbow right in the mug of your No, Uruguayan player got he got ejected. Colombia hung on with 10 men. See, I know my soccer terminology better than I think. It's you, Chris. That's right. Play down a man. I'm still one. All right. All right. That's enough. Uh, let's see. The next one would be Taylor Fritz against Moosetti and we both chose Fritz. He was a five and a half game. Uh, yeah, game favorite, but he lost outright. So we lost that. Lost in five. It was disappointing exit for the, uh, Dory Pines high grad. Thought he was going to go to his first grand slam semi-fine. That was after Fritz upset. My man too came back. He was very, yeah. And then, uh, he just, he let, he let it slip in the fifth set. He got blown out six one. Now, I was looking for the result of Djokovic and Demonar, but it did not walk over. What does that mean? That means that Demonar could not play. Oh, so he, he moves on. Yeah. Djokovic moves on and that bet is nil and void. All right. Null and void. Next one, Tuesday night, Phillies and Dodgers, Phillies were one and a half run favorites and both of us chose the fills and we were right because the fills won 10 to one that night. Last night, the, uh, fills hung on by about four feet. I think it was Rojas for the Dodgers hit one to the fence and Castellanos. Potted at the right at the wall. That's what's so disappointing about that series. That's what's so disappointing about the Padres losing four in a row because the Dodgers are losing. They could be gaining ground right now. Oh, the Dodgers could be winning right now while the Padres are losing in space. It works out Mariners and Padres over total over under eight runs and the Tuesday night game, both of us went under both of us. Wrong Mariners eight Padres, three total of 11 runs. Yeah. And remember, I said at the time, this was an automatic to bed under because a Logan Gilbert wasn't going to go up any runs, be the Mariners couldn't score runs. Yes. And did say that. Both things happened. I mean, the dude who had been struggling all season decided to have a big day in who will Rodriguez. Him and rally combined for six of the seven runs. Yeah, so annoying. All right, Chris, that's it. All right, here we go for today. I'm eight and three this week. Nice. Which is kind of good. You're five and six, which is, you know, all right. Tony's level par. Zero zero. Here we go. Tonight, it'll be the Phillies and Dodgers again. Phillies go for the suite with Aaron Nola on the mound. They're favored by one and a half runs over the Dodgers. Game is actually in the top of the first inning. So hurry up and make your bet. I'll go first. I'm going to go with the Dodgers. I don't think they lose three in a row. I'm not going to get swept. I say they'll get swept. I hope they get swept because the Dodgers are there. Well, it was listed here. And now that the game is under not listed anymore, it's somebody I've never heard of. Oh, it's the young kid. Yeah, the Dodgers. You're going to go with the young kid. All right. Who stri who I'm sorry, who lasts longer tonight? Who pitches longer into their game? Luis Castillo for the Mariners at the Angels or Max Freed of the Braves pitching in Arizona. So the bat is more innings. More innings pitched. Castillo or Freed. I'm going to go. I'm going to go. Castillo here. Castillo. Yeah. Mariners pitching is good. Tony. Freed's good to you. Yeah. Oh, how's about to say sale? Give me your first one. Castillo. Give me Castillo. You got him. Scrammy. Ah, as a contrarian. I'm afraid. Go to Max Freed there. A's in Red Sox tonight, 10 runs over under at Fenway Park. A's red. Tony, your first on this one. A's at Fenway. A's at Fenway. Luis Medina, Tanner, how are they starting? Hurlers in this game. Tanner, how to. Okay. All right. Get your, get your mind out of the gutter. That's not. No, his name is how it just makes me talk to that's gutter. That's gutter talk. No one knows what you're talking about. Tell me what. Give me the bread sauce. And by the way, Chris, last time you told me a step saying that the air, all the parents told me their kids are excusing. Give me under. Under. I'm going to go ahead and say. Everybody's parents said their kids already knew what Hock tool was. Yeah, because it's on TikTok and stuff. That's not a good. They know great before. Yeah. What'd you say, Scrammy? Under? Yeah. All right, I'll go over. But Tanner, Hock is pretty good. All right. Tomorrow, Jocovitch is favored by six and a half games over the young Italian Lorenzo Musetti, semi finals at Wimbledon. Six and a halfs a lot, but it is Jocovitch against a young, relatively unknown 25th ranked Italian. I'm going to go with Musetti, though. I have a feeling about this kid and he's going to give, he's going to push Jocovitch tomorrow, I feel. Okay. Even though Jocovitch got the walkover win in the last round. All right, Tony. Six and a half games just got to win by. So if it's like six, three, six, three, six, three, five, nine, give me a set of away. I can't I don't know. I can't root for the Joker right now. You're still upset with him for his. Good night. I love me some Joker after that. You like that? You're going to pick. I know they should do they should defend. They shouldn't do anything. They shouldn't cheer. It shouldn't boo. That will bother you. You didn't like that. We respected you. Now we just aren't going to do anything. Well, he is playing a guy named Musetti. So the fans could build you. They might go that round. No, I've been on the tour 20 years. I know all the tricks. You can't get me. The other Wimbledon semi final is a pretty tip top matchup between Alvarez and Medvedev to the top five players in the world. 39 and a half games is the over under total games played. Have to go at least four sets probably five to get over that number. And Tony's up first. Medvedev. Medvedev Alcaras. Over. Over. Scrabie. I'm going to go over to over. Sounds like an over. Sounds like a five set thriller. Tonight in the WNBA New York Liberty favored by nine and a half over the Chicago sky Liberty Liberty have the best record in the WNBA right now as they have passed Connecticut for the lead in the Eastern Division. I'll take the I'll take the Liberty but you know that's just me. Scrabie. You know what I got say? Angel Reese is pretty good. You're like an angel Reese now. I mean she's proven it. She's doing it. Didn't she have a bunch of double doubles? She said the record. I think she's still got it. She's got a streak going right now. 14 consecutive games. So she's backing up you know the trash talk. I'm backing it up. Although the other night she took a little flack and I don't think it was warranted but they were way ahead and she had nine points and the clock was running out. She got that but she started calling for the ball. I was like give me the ball. I threw a tour and she got fouled and she made the free throws and she went over. I have no problem with that. So I'm going to go Skye. Go Chicago. Tony Liberty Liberty Liberty Liberty Liberty Liberty. Nah very good. Angel Reese is on the board here. 12 and a half rebounds over or under just said she's been over 14 consecutive games on double digit rebounds but will she go over 12 and a half tonight Scrabie? I'm gonna say under she gets like 11. 11 you say. Okay Tony. Angel Reese 12 and a half boards. Over. Over. You know there are some angel Reese haters out there and I think it's getting a little unfair. They're starting to call her Moses Malone now because she's bad. She's batting her boards out by throwing the ball up and missing and grabbing rebounds. Is this thing happening? Even if it is happening a little bit. I don't know if it's happening. Getting your own rebound is tough. Yeah like you you risking it by throwing it back up there. That's true. That's true. There's only been two guys I saw do that. It was Moses Ed shot. No three Dennis used to do that all the time. But Rodman didn't do it on purpose. He just couldn't make the shot. I see him bat that ball off the board many times. That's all good Lakers all the time. What'd you say Scrab? I sit under. All right Tony you said over over over. I'm gonna say I'm gonna say over just because all the haters 13 rebounds at least for angel Reese tonight. There's our daily gambit. See how it all turns out when we reconvene tomorrow. Yes sir. In the meantime let me remind everybody that this hour 97 three the fan is well it's already been brought to you by the farmers dogs. Good job but you actually read the top of the sheet Chris and I'm going to the tip top of the sheet. Yep. Yep. Uh before we before the show we need to talk about reads. Reminder for myself. Is that what you wanted me to read you? Yes. So we'll be talking about that in the break. All right. All right. I don't know what that means but I guess it won't happen to do with anybody out there since you're telling them what we're going to do during the break and they won't be able to hear. That's true. That's true. Brilliant Scrabby. Brilliant. Okay. Strategy by you. Morgan and Chris after traffic. Scrabby has notified me that this is a short segment. Well now I'm seeing the clock we got nine minutes. Yeah let's say this doesn't seem like it's going to be that short. For all of you EA sports. It's in the game. College football fans. You got some ratings for you. I know Jesse and I have been talking about this game's debut. When does it come out? It's a good question. Is Jesse a gamer? For this he will be. Oh really? This is a classic game that was shut down for what? This is nine years. I think 2015 was the last year. It's been a long time. Does that mean that the technology would be such that I might be able to learn how to play? No I think the technology would be such that you won't be able to play because it's I really kind of you guys talk about this and have so much fun. I feel like I'm really missing out. It comes out eight days from July 19. Oh yeah we've been talking about the show because I keep telling Chris how much I love playing at the Polo Grounds and I'm going to do this one day. I'm going to bring in my PS5. We're going to hook it up to the big screen and Chris and I are going to play some show. Great idea. Well just so you could route me because I won't know what I'm doing. No I'm not going to route you. Well you know what I'm sure you'll try to. I'll choose the Rockies and you can be whoever you want. Oh thanks. The Phillies. Well I should be able to be Beverly Hills High School and beat you under those circumstances. The Rockies. Yeah. Here are some ratings on EA Sports College football 25 quarterbacks. What do you think the number one quarterback in the nation is ratings wise? I'm just going to guess and say the guy from Georgia, Carson Beck. He's second. He's tight for first. Carson Beck. Yeah. Georgia quarterback. Was he their quarterback last year? I think so. Yeah he was. He was. Shoulder Sanders also. Should do her. Tied at night. You know someone to hear that. We're going to have to talk about him. It doesn't want to wear that. 17-18 overall. Shoulder and Beck. Can you ask Shoulder Sanders? Can you illegally park your Rolls Royce on campus? Was that Shoulder? I think that was Shoulder. That wasn't his brother? No. Shiloh is $12 million to a man that he beat up. But that's another thing. Let me ask you this about Shoulder. Me or Tony? I'll ask Tony because I know what you'll say. What? His final stats last year. I don't expect it. He struggled mightily. The second half of the season was that all blamed on the fact that they had such a bad offensive line? Pretty much. Okay. So he's that good. That's what we think. That's what we keep. What was the head coach at Nebraska now? That was a Matt Rule. Matt Rule had an interview with I can't remember the gentleman from Fox. Platt. Oh Joel. Joel Clatt. Joel Clatt. Very nice guy. He said he had talked about Shoulder very highly because I guess he had him at a camp. So he's he's the truth. So okay. We'll see. They supposedly fixed that offensive line. You see we would expect the numbers to now go up. I know if I asked Shoulder Sanders how good he was, he would be willing to tell. I think that's a Sanders trait. They've never been one to do live confidence. So nor should they. Now overall, the number one player in the game will be a young kid named Will Johnson. You guys know who he plays for? No. See back in the day, you wouldn't need to know. You just need to know his number because they didn't have names on the game now because everybody's getting broke off. They will have names. Yeah. Will Johnson is a cornerback for Michigan. Michigan has two top 10 players in the video game. Travis Hunter, Colorado. He was the two way store. Right. They got him as a wide receiver on here. He's in he's number six overall. I'm not sure you guys would recognize any of these other names because I don't. Will Campbell left tackle LSU. No, I haven't really recognized other than Shoulder Sanders. I haven't recognized a name yet. Ollie Gordon a second. He plays for. Oh yeah. He just say yeah. He's the You know who is now. Yeah. We'll talk a little bit about Ollie in a second. Yes. James Pierce Jr. No. Tennessee right in. Can't help you. Caleb Downs. No. No. Number five player overall. Free safety. The Ohio State. Ohio State. Malachi starts. No. I know this one. These guys are probably be top into the draft when it's all said and done. Is it good that we don't know any bad thing about college football? I don't think so. I don't think so. Maybe it doesn't matter because we still are going to tune in. Right. We'll watch. But there was a time where I felt like I would have known a lot of these games and I don't know it's because I'm getting older and I'm further removed from it. No. I think it's because players are moving around. So much. There's no way to keep track of it unless you are really, you know, college football, you know, fan. You got to be big time into it. Quinn Ears. Ears. Yeah. I know. Texas. Texas. There we go. There we go. He's 27th or 92. Jalen Milro. Oh, Alabama. What was his, uh, his, uh, lank. Lank. Lank, uh, stands for something. Yeah. Uh, letting all the naysayers know. Yes. That's what, uh, it stands for. I thought it was something else. No. Oh, it's not. Uh, but that's your little rundown for. Do they have arch manning? They don't have his rank it. Now he just got involved. Remember, he originally declined to be a part of the game. That's right. But I think in like the last couple of days, he's changed his mind on that and he will be a part of it. I wonder what happened. They probably paid them. They probably, what about the coaching carousel in college football? 87 overall for him. Who are the new coaches? The Alabama's got the Washington guy. Yeah. Washington's got the Arizona guy. I think so. I think so. Arizona guy. This is where it gets difficult right here. Mesa College. I don't know who Arizona got. We got a bunch of new conferences this year. You know what? And I feel I'm a great sports fan. I have no idea. I could not tell you the ACC big 12. Because half of the past year went one way and the rest went another way. So weird. It's going to take so long to get used to figuring all that out. And almost as long as it's going to take Stanford and Cal to travel back and forth to the ACC all year. I just feel for those kids. I really do. It's just so somebody can make millions of dollars off them. They got to sit on the plane for, you know, 12 hours a week. There's one of coaches now. The old San Jose state head coach Brent Brennan. Of course. Very good. Of course. Of course. We know that the new San Diego state coach is the former Colorado office coordinator. Sean Lewis. Good luck, Sean. Yes. All right. That's just what else we got. That's all I have for the ACC. I think we're OK with that. All right. Let's let's get the break. When we come back. Fair or foul. We are going to be talking about Shador Sanders and yes. You know. Another thing. Scravie's got to get a Shador Sanders right now. For sure. More going to Chris on his side. Annie and Elston. I think that this roster had they been this roster last year. Even though that roster last year had a ton of talent, this roster is better. And I think a coaching staff would have even wanted the roster that you have this year over the roster that you had last year, which was a bunch of more superstar names, not necessarily being guys who were wanting to prove themselves that were finally on a team that had a chance to win. Listen to Annie and Elston weekdays from 10 to 2 on San Diego's number one sports station 97 3 the fan. Every day is an extraordinary Earth Day at computers to kids. Chrisello, Tony Goode, Jr. Matt Scrabie together in the Odyssey Palace studios today. Tony just ran out for a second. He'll be back because we're doing a fair or foul segment here in just a few minutes. That is a segment where Scrabie reads a bunch of controversial tweets. I've changed it slightly. Well, it used to just be Padre tweets. Yes. Well, we've opened it up a little bit. Yeah, I couldn't keep going with the... It wasn't sustainable to do Padre's only tweets. Well, because all the tweets about the Padres right now are foul. They've lost four in a row and everybody's really, really mad. Yeah. Thanks to teams never going to win another game and, you know, on and on. So it's not necessarily tweets anymore, but it's more of statements and it can be a tweet for sure. Like, yeah, there's a couple that are tweets in this one, but they're just different statements. And we'll decide whether they're fair or foul. So that's coming up in just a few seconds. Dodgers going to get swept in Philadelphia. Not yet, but it's top of the second inning. Trey Turner's already hit a home run for the Phillies. They lead one nothing over the LAD in the top of the second inning. Earlier today, if you're just tuning in, Padres idle, but Paul Skeens did it again. Seven no hit innings, struck out 11. Pirates shut out the Brewers. One nothing. Skeens, you know, I, it's just funny because it's not his fault, but I don't think anyone in San Diego is rooting for this guy to do well because we want Jackson Merrill to be the rookie of the year. There's something about a pirate being popular that I don't like. Well, it's so weird to me. This guy is the popular guy right now, six and oh, 1.90 ERA. Impressive, I must say. Brewers did end up getting a hit in the game, but they were no hit for the first seven innings by Skeens. The other note on the scoreboard anyway, Mets seven nothing over Washington Mets pull into a virtual tie with the Padres for the final wild card spot in the National League. Alright, so there you go on that. And are we ready to do our fair or foul or do we need to I need to wait a couple more seconds for traffic to come through and we out kid that and Tony's not back in here. I don't know what I'm asking for kind of a silly question. We need to wait for Mr. Gwen to return. He has to get out of here at some point because he's got the big the big shindig down at Petco Park tonight dinner on the diamond dinner on the diamond and he revealed who the musical act is. You know, I think he was kind of think he was kind of excited. No, I think he was trying to make us feel bad. They're, you know, feel like he was trying to make us feel nice. He was trying to tell him, well, I'm going to this thing tonight and guess who's who the musical guest is? Luda Luda Chris. Wow. Yeah. Even I like Luda Chris and I'm not cool in any way, shape, or form. But I think that would be Luda Chris was pretty fun to see him in high school. Great. All right. Okay. I guess we can. He's had a long career. Luda Chris. Yeah. Like, are we going 20 years? Oh, yeah. He was popular when I was in high school and that was 99 through 2003. Yeah. Show Hey, Tony just struck out with the basis loaded. That ought to put a smile on your face, gravy. It did not much does, but that will, although the empire did kind of take it out of his hands early in the at bat. Oh, early in the at bat, I'm going to say swung and missed the last. No, no, the first the first pitch was definitely a ball. Not so if the empire calls it a strike. Okay, here's Tony. Here's traffic and then we go fair foul. Another addition of fair or foul. I'm going to get an open for this because it seems like we're going to be doing this more often, but we've changed the format just a little bit because there wasn't too many fair Padres points out there. Everything was foul because that's what I was seeing. So I'm going to change it up and we will we will talk about the Padres when we can, but we're going to start with Jason Whitlock of Blaze. What do you say? And these are these are tweets that you're picking up, right? Yes. And whether or not we think they are legit or not legit, otherwise termed fair or foul. Correct. So I'm not going to play the whole thing that he said. Do I? Can we just answer on Jason Whitlock before he plays it that it'll probably be foul? No. Okay, Jason Whitlock is talking about Bronnie James. And although he does make some points, this is not one that I agree with. But he said Bronnie James looked at a place at his summer league debut. This is his tweet. LeBron James has turned his son into the make a wish kid and everybody in the media is going to play along. So I clicked and I listened and then he goes on to say that basically Bronnie is just there because of his dad and that he was born on third base. And that's why, you know, he wanted to attack the fact that LeBron is saying that Bronnie's worked through all these things and he's done this his entire life. He's worked all the way to the top and Jason Whitlock disagreed. So do you guys think this is fair or foul to call Bronnie James a make a wish kid who was born on third base? Chris. Oh, absolutely. Not. Oh, wait, you're confusing me. No, I don't think it's fair or foul. It's foul. Okay, it's foul. I mean, I don't know, I grew up in, you know, where there's a lot of silver spoons around. And in that neighborhood, you know, a lot of people maybe get a head start. Maybe they have certain advantages that others don't have. But I think ultimately you've got to go out and, you know, prove your worth. Did Bronnie James get drafted because he's LeBron James son? I think so. But we're going to find out. He's just getting an opportunity that just about everybody coming out of college and wants to play basketballs getting. And he can't help the fact that his dad's LeBron James. So I'm tired of everybody attacking him for something that he absolutely cannot control. The spotlight on him is far greater than any other young player coming into the NBA. So, you know, if he can, if he can legit play, we'll find out if he can't legit play. We'll find that out too. So no, I don't think it's fair to make a wish kid. That's pretty, that's a little mean. That's pretty far. That's a lot mean. Actually, it doesn't even, it doesn't even, and it's even unfair to make a wish kids the real ones that are out there. It doesn't make, it doesn't even make sense. Quite frankly, because make a wish kid certainly isn't born on third base. So your whole premise doesn't, his whole premise doesn't make sense. Listen, I guess the good part about this is they have to attack that because it's not as though Ronnie is like this and comes off as this entitled kid that is, you know, a bad, bad character or any of that. And so, you know, this would be the case whether he was a first round pick, second round pick, a free agent. If he was out there getting minutes, that would be something that was said. Now, if he was a first round pick and was deservingly a first round pick, maybe the conversations less. But, you know, I'm sure this was said about Barry Bonds. I'm sure this was said about Kangaroo Tree. I know it was said about me at points in my life. And as you said, you, these are people individuals that had no control over who their dads were when they were born. They didn't ask for it. It just came that way. And so, as Chris said, we'll find out eventually, at professional sports, you don't just get to hang around too long because someone is your dad. Yeah. There's a lot of the there's a there's a lot more players out there, Tony, that I'm sure you came across with this in baseball that had dads who played baseball that never made it. Right. So, just because your your dad played doesn't mean you make it, you have to be good enough to make it. And the same will be true for Bronnie James once the dust clears here. All right. Let's move on to the next one. Our next favorite guy, Shouldor Sanders, is what's speaking yesterday. Another guy who's no fault of his own, that his dad is who it is. But go ahead. This is what Scrabies enemies right here. This is not an enemy of mine. Now, he's attacking. He's in attack mode. I do think that Shouldor lives in a different world, which is fine. Is he make a wish kid? I jeez, that was creepy, the way you looked at me when you said that make a wish kid. He's not a make a wish kid. But he did say this about at the big 12 media day, whenever teams come to play them, he said, I know where everybody's Super Bowl, thinking not because of like talent level or anything, because it's so cool that you're going to play D on Sanders's team in Colorado. So Tony, is it fair or foul that Shouldor Sanders says, I know where everybody's Super Bowl's fair. And it's not for the reasons that you just said, because I'm pretty sure he didn't say what you said. That is pretty cool to beat D on Sanders kids. Oh, yeah, he didn't say that. Yeah, but I will say, because of all the attention they get, teams 100% going there, wanting to stick it to him. And so, and so maybe you, you could disagree with the word Super Bowl, but don't get it twisted. Everybody who is going to play Colorado, especially early as they will be a team that is favored to win a lot of games, is going in there circling that game because they want to knock off Colorado and prime time. It's no different than the folks that bought pay-per-view fights to see Floyd Mayweather get beat. It has nothing to do with it. It's more so teams will want to go there because they want to stick it to him because of the attention. Chris, it's fair because I could previous to D on Sanders arriving could care less about any game that Colorado ever played. And all of a sudden last year, I watched them all until about the fifth or sixth week when they were completely irrelevant. But I watched them at the beginning and I was into those games. Dion brings a spotlight and his son doesn't do anything to dim that spotlight. So yeah, he's absolutely right. Everybody comes in there because yeah, they want to be the ones to knock him off. They know they're going to get a lot of publicity and attention if they do. This is not a segment for me to agree or disagree with. So I'll move on to the next one. You had big problems with the upset as Super Bowl. I just think it's like Shador. Get over yourself. I know you think that one cares. I'm not saying players don't care. I'm just saying. It was a question that he was asked that that led to that. I close the article. How would you have done growing up in my world of Beverly Hills? Oh, Scrappy would have really hated it. Almost everybody was born on third base. How would you have done there? I won the script. He would have struggled. No, he would have been in fights every day. You know, when my high school had the, you went to the cost about it. I know. Yeah. No, you had a spoon or two there. Trust me. I'm not saying that. Yeah. They had a club though. It was like the international car club and you had to have a car that was over 50,000 hours. It's really boiled. And they would always back into their spots and their stupid little cars. I can see him coming in with his backpack. Just hot about that club. Why does a 16 year old need a hundred and twenty thousand dollars? That is a good question. I have a pair who would have never bought me a car that's crazy. It's crazy. Every pair and I grew up knowing bought their kids at some mine. Chris is like, I remember the cholopy. Everybody had the time, the Schwinn 10 speed bicycle. They were the big deal at the time. And I mean, every student had one except I had the Walmart special, you know, off color. No, Beverly Hills High. Yes, Beverly Hills High. I would not park my bike on this campus of the school. I would park two blocks away and walk in. That's how embarrassing it was in that world. I get it. I get it. I've driven a car before where I parked far away so that no one saw my car. There you go. And it wasn't even that bad of a car. I wanted to blend. Your Lamborghini was blending in. My Azuzu rodeo blended in. Nice car right there. Nicely. I remember Azuzu rodeos. That was great. All right. Next one and maybe last one. But Eric Mangini, the man genius who was a head coach for the New York Jets for a little bit, he was on FS1 with Colin Coward and he was talking about Aaron Rodgers. And he was talking about how Aaron Rodgers missed his mandatory mini camp last month to take a trip to Egypt. But here's what he said. What's disappointing about that situation is he was the one that talked about the importance of limiting distraction. He was the one that would talk about the importance of focusing on only football and all the things that he preaches in the press conference and then you get in the situation where he misses the mandatory mini camp. And I get the as a voluntary part and I think that's great but it's not a secret what mandatory mini camp is. This year was actually a little bit earlier and then you understand when vacation is and if you have a trip that's planned, you can set up in a way that doesn't disturb the one thing you're required to do in the offseason. Chris, fair or foul on this comment. Hard for me to ever think that too much Eric Mangini says he's fair but I'm gonna go fair. I think it's fair. I don't think he was being overly critical. I think you're just bringing up the obvious point that you know if you say that we don't want distractions, you're not being at mini camps and your Aaron Rodgers has to be a distraction. Maybe it's not you know on you but the other players have to deal with it. I don't know. I mean Aaron Rodgers still hasn't really to doubt more than two downs you know for the New York Jets right? Yeah I mean he's really on her in the first drive of the game. First drive of the first game last year so I'm gonna say fair. I know he's taking a shot at Aaron Rodgers and Aaron Rodgers is you know forever more going to be a great quarterback no matter what happens in New York but I think you know in the perfect world he'd be there. Tony Fair fell on man genius. I'm gonna say fair. If I recall correctly Aaron was on his bully pulpit and I believe he's it felt like he was wagging his finger at like the front office and you know some of the things that were being leaked out about Zach Wilson at the time and he did say a lot of that we need the limited distractions. He has to know at this point in his career that him not being at a I would think yeah and it was a mandatory is a mandatory mandatory yeah and not only not being in a man it's one thing to be at a not in a mandatory cabin somewhere throwing footballs and you know having all the spinks he's in Egypt and I'm not saying he's wrong for going to Egypt but you had to know that it was going to be a distraction you had to know that there's going to be something minus football which is what you just what you spent some time last year during the season why you were healing kind of pointing the finger at so I think the criticism or whatever man genie said is fair on this one. All right final one and it's a 49er one Jerry Rice was asked about the whole Brandon IU contract talks and all of that's going on with that him deleting the team. I have a team him deleting the team from his profile and all that but uh Jerry Rice said I think his main focus right now let me start that over I think his main focus right now is just to play football play football and just let his abilities speak for itself and we'll see what happens after the season that's in his control that's what you want so basically the context of this is that Brandon IU is on a one-year deal basically for 14 million dollars he wants a new contract but Jerry Rice who has plenty of money and plenty of playing career behind him says that he just needs to play football this year Tony fair foul fair I mean ultimately he's going to get his money it may not be with San Francisco somebody's going to give it to him yeah the better he goes out and plays this year likely the more he's going to be able to get so if I were him I would have already at least in my mind made it at least put it the thought in my mind that I'm not going to be a niner moving forth however I'm going to go out and put up the best season I possibly can to strengthen my case for whoever then signs me and in the end that might end up helping the niners on your way out make you become a champion so that's how I would look at fair foul Chris it's totally fair but I don't think that Brandon IU is going to feel it's fair and that might be part of the issue here Tony's 100% right simple go out be great somebody will give you a ton of money you go out and pout catch three passes a game for 11 yards you're not going to get that free agent contract you want so this is simple Jerry Rice is probably somebody you should listen to if you're a wide receiver but I get the feeling that a lot of the younger generation players don't want to hear from feel like they're being brow beat by the former you know stars like Jerry Rice I also think that this generation of player is much more aware of how fast this thing can come to an end and so maybe that is the hold up like listen all that's great but I go out here and I plant and it's hurt my knee and this is we I'm dealing with a completely different situation and that's what makes football a little more unique with the contract demands than anything else that any other sport we do with man I'm just looking through Jerry Rice's contracts his first real contract 1988 was five years five million dollars and he was overpaid and that was in the minds of most people that's insane to me right that's insane to me he made a million dollars a year Jerry Rice and Brandon IU is complaining about 14 what are we doing here it's Jerry's fault they went out they went out and and and made the the league that much better yeah Jerry why don't you just give him some money out of your pocket let's go bro all right that's it for very well very good uh we'll uh settle things down here a little bit come back with uh Christopher's the fans play some trivia you might get to go to Las Vegas 833 288-0973 let's go hey and uh welcome back uh four o'clock hour hi how are you uh Chris Elo Tony Gwen jr mr. Scrabie uh Gwen and Chris on 97-3 the fan Tony as mentioned earlier had to uh he's got to get down to the big sware being uh going on tonight at petco park they none of us that includes all of you listeners are invited to only the biggest and brightest get to go to this thing and they raise a whole bunch of money and looter Chris is playing while they eat five star food on the diamond at petco park and dress up and have themselves a quite an evening quite an evening a sware I said sware oh you did I did I would use that word maybe that's why maybe that's why you used it yeah because you thought you'd heard it somewhere yeah I think so yeah so Tony's headed down there uh but we did uh do the big five and uh so you'll hear him on that coming up at the bottom of this hour uh right now it is oh there go the phone lines they're ready to roll Chris versus the fans is coming up before we get to a quick update Wimbledon today Scrab you know I watch this stuff I mean it starts at five in the morning I do you know set the DVR are you kidding me I like it I love Wimbledon and uh watch the semifinals today uh two really exciting matches the first one was most exciting uh this young lady jasmine peyolini from uh Italy you've been talking about her I have she made the finals at the French Open well now she's made the finals at Wimbledon uh that is not something that happens very often because they're two totally different surfaces right one's clay court one's grass court and very few players are good on both courts uh the last player to make the final in both of those two tournaments in the same year was serina and you have to go back 20 years for it actually go back let's see yeah 2006 so it's been a long time uh peyolini trailed in her match against unceded Donna Vekich of the Czech Republic but peyolini came back and uh the final set went to a tie break and uh you have to win by two she won 10 points to eight so it took three hours very exciting semi-final peyolini to the final will take on Barbara Cretcikova for the title Cretcikova a former French Open winner herself knocked out the 2022 Wimbledon champ Elena Rebakana in three sets I'm just doing all of this to try and show off my ability to pronounce tennis names I was thinking like whoa we're going deep into this here we are Cretcikova Rebakana yeah it was quite the little lineup so tomorrow's the men's semi-finals and we'll see uh the Joker in action and uh others I have a quick thing for Manny uh Jocelyn one of our great listeners just put this in the chat at the Manny camp today Manny Machado gave each kid a 480 kids a big box of 2024 tops cards totally unexpected and all of these kids are really happy oh wait say this again Manny Machado has a Manny camp today what do you have it just a one-day camp I don't know or is this Jocelyn let us know yeah uh but Manny gave each kid 480 uh a big box of 2024 tops cards first of all a box of tops cards in this day and age is going for a few hundo maybe it depends on its own yeah and how many was it 480 kids 480 so you know that was a pricey gift but beyond being a pricey gift oh if I was a kid and you just gave me a box of unopened baseball from Manny Machado sweet I had a great great a great gift I can't stand these people that say Manny's a selfish person because he's not selfish that you know Manny does so much stuff that he doesn't ever publicize he does himselfish things but that doesn't mean you're a selfish person what do you mean I don't know honestly I don't know why I said that because he is Manny Machado yeah you know come on it is one day Jocelyn says and apparently one day camp and these kids 500 kids show up and he guides them all a box of baseball cards what his kid was at the camp that's why he was not at the round table so there you go awesome well then since woods was not at the round table woods this kid has to bring the box of cards to us so you can go through them I'll tell you one thing I'm a hundred years old but if you you know if you give me a box of unopened tops trading cards right now I'd probably go home and open them all and just I just enjoy it like I would imagine the sorting like for you as a as a guy who is very neat and tidy yes sorting that you must do here's my sorting process for baseball cards oh no it's by team okay that's not bad and I and I but I don't put a pile of 30 different piles all over the place this is where we're going this is where we're going I put the teams in their divisions on the floor and so the Dodger pile is next to the Padre pile next to the giant blankie or of standing no okay but I will put all the nls teams in one row and l central in another row that's funny that's what I do but it's been a long time since I've you know been through a box of baseball cards I would love to do that as a matter of fact I might just have to go out and buy a box just to have the fun of doing it remember during covid I brought in all those cards that I found and I just we would play games like I would read off stuff on the baseball card you try to guess them it wasn't that fun of a game we were desperate to do anything yeah exactly but uh yeah it was fun going through the cards I never was a card guy as a kid I was more of a football card guy I think a pack of baseball cards opening that up was about one of the funnest things you could do for the longest time in my life and I'm not saying that you're old but when you were doing it as a kid no they were close and it was only a quarter a dime even you know so it was affordable yeah if I went on a bottle box of tops new trading cards right now somebody chat how much would that be I mean I didn't even know let's see it'd be a lot a lot more than I'd be really wanting to spend just to get a Gavin Luxe card or something you don't want to get me it says that I just typed in tops tops 2024 box of trading one retail value box uh 2499 no no that's what says I don't tell Amazon all right how many packs are in there uh seven packs oh no I need like I'm thinking seven packs 12 cards per pack that's a lot of cards that's not enough that's 84 cards okay I'll be straight with you when I did tops boxes of cards you got 24 packs with 10 or 15 cards in each pack okay so this one is a 2024 top series one baseball retail display 20 packs per box $67 I'll think about it I mean that Chris I can tell you right now I'm looking at this box I think that'd be a funny present to get me for you know done next time doesn't present given done the box of baseball he's kind of Chris says when I got the upper deck Griffey rookie I unpacked at the card shop when I was a kid it was it was the highlight of my life wow that's I mean that's not and I'm not even gonna make yeah I'm not gonna make fun of that I can see that because you know it's just there's something about wanting a certain card and it pops into view there's something about that moment uh you can get qualified right now Chronicles yes sir i got a i got an amazing daily grape today can i get a hint um you know i mean you know i'll tell you in the break but it was okay it's something it's something that uh was very sad and it's not actually sad but it was sad i'll tell you in the break all right yeah i i can't go anywhere unless i hear okay i can't return for the big five unless i know what the scrubs gonna be uh but you have to return for the big five it's coming up next on Gwen and Chris yeah i was feeling pretty good until i heard that Jim Rome thing there now my oblique is killing me i wasn't listening what does it say well he he's talking about a story that came out today i'm on raw St. Brown oh yeah the great lions receiver okay played the second half of last season with his oblique torn muscle torn completely off the bone oh played the whole sea or you know three quarters of the season with that oh my gosh they said he you know he's got an oblique injury he goes out there every Sunday and plays you know i'm not weak we you you but wait wait wait wait wait you more than us you make fun of athletes who are you know in your mind a little wimpy like Tyler Glass now is going to sit out the next six and a half years because he's got a back tightness but i'm on raw St. Brown playing a whole season or most of it with a torn off the bone oblique muscle that's pretty good makes the baseball players look real wimpy soft soft i say i mean you you sneeze and you feel your oblique in there out for eight weeks speaking uh soft zach wheeler the latest to uh miss a scheduled start and oblique for the fillies no his back hurts he saw probably saw Tyler Glass now getting some time off with that excuse you know i decided on the same thing i woke up my back it's just a little tight i'm out for a month just a little tight take me out coach take me out yeah that's in that how the old song went take me out coach i'm ready to sit yeah on the bed famous song all right uh here we go traffic and then today's big old five it's that time of the show when we check on the latest in sports only the most important topics and questions are brought to light stop what you're doing and listen these new stories will astound and amaze you the one the only oh my god who the hell kish blow big five starts now on ninety seven three the fan i gotta tell you chris we said it a couple times today but it is very nice when tony is back in studio with us it's the best i enjoy being back here yeah i i miss the air guitar i miss all of that that is that is the fun part you know i'm not trying to jump ahead here but that is fun part to there be no baseball is that we are in studio yeah a little bit more than that saying i want the season in because i know i have a joy in the sea we hope we don't see you again until november we don't want to see you i'm enjoying the seas it's greaty listen to what he said we're not going to see it till november i'm expecting another long run but we did try to make up for yesterday by bringing our dogs in and it just didn't yeah it was great my dog slept the entire your dog was fine my dog was barking in touch yes my dog is no longer going to be allowed she got on the show a little bit oh lucky might be coming in on a daily basis now because he just sits in the corner lucky i wouldn't that have everything i know about lucky would not have pointed me in the direction of he just slept he really oh yeah i do tell you a lot you tell us about the whole but i mean i know there's no mut in here he's he's an older gentleman now and so he's a little bit more charm yes he's much well yeah the comparison and calm between your dog and my dog is no comparison that was very fun though getting in there it was fun having a man um all right i was listening to jessie and skan last night in the drive home uh when they were calling the game between the padries and the manners and they were talking about white socks closer that was a hard thing to say michael co-pack in his feet of closing out a game with an immaculate inning which is if you don't know you get nine pitches nine strikes three outs every that's why it's immaculate that was the 113th immaculate inning of all time and jessie brought up that there have been 323 no hitters in baseball history so those numbers show the immaculate inning is much more difficult to accomplish than the no hitter tony why do you think this is more rare than a no hitter i mean there's a specific circumstance that has to take place i mean think about that nine pitches nine strikes nine punch outs yeah i mean when you think of it and that turns right i mean a foul ball could just change that you can go to guy can foul pitch off that's just the end of it a bad umpire it takes it takes some luck you know i think for if never happen under angel Hernandez is watch it right the umpire still can't get right the umpire behind you may call the first pitch of the game right down the middle ball you never even know if you get a chance to get immaculate i just think there's there's so many things that have to go your way from that standpoint whereas we all belong outside we're drawn to nature open for this because it seems like we're going to be doing this more often but we've changed the format just a little bit because there wasn't too many fair Padres points out there everything was foul because that's what i was saying so i'm going to change it up and we will we will talk about the Padres when we can but we're and we're going to start with Jason Whitlock of blaze what do you say and these are uh these are tweets that are that you're picking up right yeah and whether or not we think they are legit or not legit otherwise termed fair or foul correct so i'm not going to play the whole thing that he said can we just answer on Jason Whitlock no before he plays it that it'll probably be foul no okay uh Jason Whitlock is talking about brawny james and although he does make some points this is not one that i agree with but he said brawny james looked at a place at his summer league debut this is his tweet LeBron James has turned his son into the make a wish kid and everybody in the media is going to play along so i clicked and i listened and then he goes on to say that basically brawny is just there because of his dad and that he was born on third base and that's why you know he wanted to attack the fact that LeBron is saying that brawny's worked through all these things and he's he's done this his entire life he's worked all the way to the top and Jason Whitlock disagreed so do you guys think this is fair or foul to call brawny james and make a wish kid who was born on third base chris oh absolutely not oh wait you're confusing me i know i don't think it's fair or foul okay it's foul i i mean i don't know i grew up in you know where there's a lot of silver spoons around um and in that neighborhood you know a lot of people maybe get a head start maybe they have certain advantages that others don't have but i think ultimately you've got to go out and you know prove your worth um did brawny james get drafted because he's LeBron james son i think so but we're gonna find out he's just getting an opportunity that just about everybody coming out of college and wants to play basketballs getting um and he can't help the fact that his dad's LeBron james so i'm tired of everybody attacking him for something that he absolutely cannot control the the spotlight on him is far greater than any other young player coming into the NBA so um you know if he can if he can legit play we'll find out if he can't legit play we'll find that out too so no i don't think it's fair to make a wish kid that's pretty that's a little mean that's pretty far that's a lot mean uh actually it doesn't even it doesn't even and it's even unfair to make a wish kids the real ones that are out there thank you it doesn't even make sense quite frankly because make a wish kid certainly isn't born on third base so your whole premise doesn't yeah his whole premise doesn't make sense uh listen i guess the good part about this is they have to attack that because it's not as though brawny is like this and comes off as this entitled kid that is you know a bad bad character or any of that and so you know this would be the case whether he was a first round pick second round pick a free agent if he was out there getting minutes that would be something that was said now if he was a first round pick and was deserving of first round pick maybe the conversations less but you know i'm sure this was said about berry bonds i'm sorry this was said about kangaroo jerry i know it was said about me at points in my life and as you said you these are people individuals that had no control over who their dads were when they were born they they they didn't ask for it it just came that way and so as chris said we'll find out eventually in professional sports you don't just get to hang around too long because someone is uh your your dad yeah there's a lot of the there's a there's a lot more players out there tony that i'm sure you came across with this in baseball that had dads who played baseball that never made it right so just because your your dad played doesn't mean you make it you have to be good enough to make it and the same will be true for brawny james once the dust clears here all right let's move on to the next one our next favorite guy chadore sanders is uh was speaking yesterday another guy who's no fault of his own that his dad is who it is but go ahead this is what scrabies enemies right here this is not an enemy of mine now he's attacked he's an attack mode i do think that chadore lives in a different world which is fine because he'd make a wish kid jeez that was creepy the way he looked at me when he said that is he a make a wish kid not a make a wish kid but he did say this about at the big 12 media day um whenever teams come to play them he said i know where everybody's super bowl thinking not because of like talent level or anything because it's so cool that you're going to play d on sanders' team in colorado so tony is it fair or foul that chadore sanders says i know where everybody's super full spare and it's not for the reasons that you just said because i'm pretty sure he didn't say what you said that it's pretty cool to beat d on sanders kids and oh yeah he didn't say that yeah exactly but i will say because of all the attention they get teams a hundred percent going there wanting to stick it to him i thought yes and so maybe you you could disagree with the word super bowl but don't get it twisted everybody who is going to play colorado especially early as they will be a team that is favored to win a lot of games it's going in there circling that game because they want to knock off colorado and prime prime time it's no different than the folks that bought pay-per-view fights to see Floyd Mayweather get beat it has nothing to do with it it's more so teams will want to go there because they want to stick it to him because of the attention Chris uh it's fair because i could previous to dion sanders arriving could care less about any game that colorado ever played exactly and all of a sudden last year i watched them all until about the fifth or sixth week when they were completely irrelevant but i watched them at the beginning and i was into those games um dion brings a spotlight and his son you know doesn't do anything to you know dim it dim that spotlight so yeah he's absolutely right everybody comes in there because yeah they want to they want to be the ones that knock them off they know they're going to get a lot of publicity and attention if they do yeah hi this is not this is not a segment for me to agree or disagree with so i'll move on to the next one you had big problems with the upset is super ball right i just think i just think it's like should you get over yourself i know you think that one cares uh i'm not saying i players don't care i'm just saying what was the question that he was asked it that that i let do that i closed the article how how would you have done growing up in my world of Beverly Hills California where almost everybody was born on third base where would you have done there i won this group he would have struggled not well he would have been fights every day you know when um my high school have the uh you went to the cost about it i know yeah no question you had a you had a spoon or two there i trust me i'm not saying that yeah uh they had a club though it was like um the international car club and you had to have a car those are fifty thousand dollars and really boiled and they would always back into their spots and their stupid little cars i can see him coming in with his backpack just hot about that 16 year old need a hundred and twenty thousand dollar that is a good question i have a parents would have never bought me a car that's crazy it's crazy every parent i grew up knowing bought their kids that except mine chris is like i remember this cholopy everybody had the time this Schwinn 10 speed bicycle they were the big deal at the time and i mean every student had one except i had the wal-mart special you know off-color no Beverly Hills high yes at Beverly Hills high i would not park my bike on this campus of the school i would park two blocks away and walk in that's how embarrassing it was in that world i get it i get it i've driven a car before where i parked far away so that no one saw my car there you go and it wasn't even that bad of a car i was i i wanted to blend your Lamborghini was blending in my zuzu rodeo blended in nice car right there nicely i remember a zuzu rodeos this is great all right next one and maybe last one but eric man genie the man genius who was a head coach for the new york jets for a little bit he was on fs one of the kong cowherd and he was talking about erin rogers and he was talking about how erin rogers missed his mandatory minicamp last month to take a trip to egypt but here's what he said what's disappointing about that situation is he was the one that talked about the importance of limiting distraction he was the one that would talk about the importance of focusing on only football and all the things that he preaches in the press conference and then you get in this situation where he misses the mandatory minicamp and i get the as a voluntary part and i think that's great but it's not a secret what many mandatory minicamp is this year was actually a little bit earlier and then you understand when vacation is and if you have a trip that's planned you can set up in a way that doesn't disturb the one thing you're required to do in the off season chris yeah fair or foul on this comment hard for me to ever think that too much eric man genius says he's fair but um i'm gonna go fair i i think it's fair i i don't think he was being overly critical i think you just bring it up the obvious point that you know if you say that we don't want distractions you not being at minicamps in your eric roger's has to be a distraction maybe it's not you know on you but the other players have to deal with it i don't know i mean eric roger still hasn't really to down more than two downs you know for the new york jets right yeah i mean he's really on her in the first drive of the game first drive of the first game last year so i'm gonna say fair uh i know he's taking a shot at eric roger's and eric roger's is you know forever more going to be a great quarterback no matter what happens in new york but i i i think you know in a perfect world he'd be there uh tony fair or foul on man genius i'm gonna say fair uh if i recall correctly erin was uh on his bully pulpit and i believe he it felt like he was wagging his finger at like the front office and you know some of the things that were being leaked out about zach wilson at the time um and he did say a lot of that we need the limited distractions he has to know at this point in his career that him not being at a i would think yeah and it was a mandatory is a mandatory mandatory and and not only not being in a man it's one thing to be at a not in a mandatory cabin somewhere throwing footballs and you know having all the spinks he's in egypt and i'm not saying he's wrong for going to egypt but you had to know that it was going to be a distraction you had to know that there's going to be something minus football which is which you just which you spent some time last year during the season why you were healing um kind of pointing the finger at so i think the criticism or whatever man genie said is fair on this one all right final one and it's a 49er one jerry rice was asked about the whole brandon i u contract talks and all of that's going on with that him deleting the team and i have a team he him deleting the team from his profile and all that but uh jerry rice said i think his main focus right now let me start that over i think his main focus right now is just to play football play football and just let his abilities speak for itself and we'll see what happens after the season that's in his control that's what you want so basically the context of this is that brandon i u is on a one-year deal basically for 14 million dollars he wants a new contract but jerry rice who has plenty of money and plenty of playing career behind him says that he just needs to play football this year tony fair foul fair i i mean ultimately he's going to get his money it may not be with san francisco somebody's going to give it to him yeah the better he goes out and plays this year likely the more he's going to be able to get so if i were him i would have already at least in my mind made it at least put it the thought in my mind that i'm not going to be a niner moving forward however i'm going to go out and put up the best season i possibly can to strengthen my case for whoever then signs me and in the end that might end up helping the niners on your way out make you become a champion so that's how i would look at fair of house it's totally fair but i don't think that uh brandon i u is going to feel it's fair and that might be part of the issue here uh tony's a hundred percent right simple go out be great somebody will give you a ton of money you go out and pout catch three passes a game for eleven yards you're not going to get that free agent contract you want so this is simple uh jerry rice is probably somebody you should listen to if you're a wide receiver but i get the feeling that a lot of the younger generation players don't want to hear from feel like they're being brow beat by the former you know stars like jerry rice i also think that this generation of player is much more aware of how fast this thing can come to an end and so maybe that is the hold up like listen all that's great but i go out here and i plant if he gets hurt my knee and this is we i'm dealing with a completely different situation and that's what makes football a little more unique with the contract demands than anything else that any other sport we did with man i'm just looking through jerry rice's contracts his first real contract 1988 was five years five million dollars and he was overpaid and that was in the minds of most people that's insane to me right that's insane to me he made a million dollars a year jerry rice and brandon how you can complain about 14 what are we doing here it's jerry's fault they went out they went out and and made the the league that much better yeah jerry why don't you just give them some money out of your pocket let's go bro all right that's it for fair foul very good uh we'll uh settle things down here a little bit come back with uh chris versus the fans play some trivia you might get to go to los vegas eight three three two eight eight eight oh nine seven three let's go hey and uh welcome back uh four o'clock hour hi how are you uh chris hello tony guin jr mr scrapie uh guin and chris on ninety seven three the fan tony as mentioned earlier had to uh he's got to get down to the big sware being uh going on tonight at petco park they none of us that includes all of you listeners are invited to only the biggest and brightest get to go to this thing and they raise a whole bunch of money and ludicrous is playing while they eat five star food on the diamond at pet co park and dress up and have themselves uh quite an evening quite an evening a sware i said sware oh you did i already used that word maybe that's why maybe that's why you used it yeah because you thought you'd heard it somewhere yeah i think so yes so tony's headed down there uh but we did uh do the big five and uh so you'll hear him on that coming up at the bottom of this hour uh right now it is oh there go the phone lines they're ready to roll chris versus the fans is coming up before we get to a quick update Wimbledon today scrap you know i watch this stuff i mean it starts at five in the morning i do you know set the dvr are you kidding me i like it i love Wimbledon and uh watch the semi-finals today uh two really exciting matches the first one was most exciting uh this young lady jasmine paolini from uh italy you've been talking about her i have she made the finals at the french open well now she's made the finals at Wimbledon uh that is not something that happens very often because they're two totally different surfaces right ones clay court ones grass court and very few players are good on both courts uh the last player to make the final in both of those two tournaments in the same year was serena and you have to go back 20 years for it actually go back let's see yeah 2006 so it's been a long time uh paolini trailed in her match against unseeded donna vekich of the check republic but paolini came back and uh the final set went to a tie break and uh you have to win by two she won 10 points to eight so it took three hours very exciting semi-final paolini to the final will take on barbara cretchicova for the title cretchicova a former french open winner herself knocked out the 2022 Wimbledon champ elaina rebachana in three sets i'm just doing all of this to try and show off my ability to pronounce tennis names i was just thinking like whoa we're going deep into this here we are cretchicova rebachana yeah it was quite the slow lineup so tomorrow's the men's semi-finals and we'll see uh the joker in action and uh others i have a quick thing for manny uh jostlin one of our great listeners just put this in the chat at the manny camp today manny machado gave each kid a 480 kids a big box of 2024 tops cards totally unexpected and all of these kids are really happy oh wait say this again manny machado is a manny camp today what do you have it just a one-day camp i don't or is this jostlin let us know yeah uh but manny gives each kid 480 uh a big box of 2024 tops cards i first of all a box of tops cards in this day and age is going for a few hundo i mean it depends on its own yeah and how many was it 480 so you know that was a pricey gift but beyond being a pricey gift oh if i was a kid and you just gave me a box of unopened baseball from manny machado sweet i had a great great a great gift i can't stand these people that say manny is a selfish person because he's not selfish that you know manny does so much stuff that he doesn't ever publicize he does himselfish things but that doesn't mean you're a selfish person what do you mean i don't know honestly i don't know why i said that because he is manny machado yeah you know come on it is one day jostlin says and i part of one day camp and these kids five hundred kids show up and he guides them all a box of baseball cards what this kid was at the camp that's why he was not at the round table so there you go awesome well then since woods was not at the round table woods this kid has to bring the box of cards to us so you can go through them i'll tell you one thing i'm a hundred years old but if you you know if you give me a box of unopened tops trading cards right now i'd probably go home and open them all and just i just enjoy it like i would imagine the sorting like for for you as a as a guy who is very neat and tidy yes sorting that you must do here's my sorting process for baseball cards oh no uh it's by team okay that's about okay and i and i and i but i don't put a pile of 30 different piles all over the place this you'll this is where we're going this is where we're going i put the teams in their divisions on the floor and so the Dodger pile is next to the Padre pile next to the giant or of standing no okay but i will put all the nl west teams in one row and l central in another row that's funny that's what i do when i shoot cards but it's been a long time since i've you know been through a box of baseball cards i would love to do that as a matter of fact i might just have to go out and buy a box just to have the fun of doing it remember during covid i brought in all those cards that i found and i would just we would play games like i would read off stuff on the baseball card you try to guess them it wasn't that fun of a game we were desperate to do anything yeah exactly but uh yeah it was fun going through the cards i never was a card guy as a kid i was more of a football card guy i think a pack of baseball cards opening that up was about one of the funnest things you could do for the longest time in my life and i'm not saying that you're old but when you were doing it as a kid no they were close and it was only a quarter a dime even you know so it was affordable yeah if i went on a bottom box of tops new trading cards right now somebody chat how much would that be i i mean i didn't even know let's see it'd be a lot a lot more than i'd be really wanting to spend just to get a Gavin Luxe card or something you don't want to get out of me it says i just typed in tops tops 2024 box of trading cards one retail value box uh 2499 no no that's what says i don't talk on amazon all right how many packs are in there uh seven packs oh no i need like i'm thinking seven packs 12 cards per pack that's a lot of cards that's not enough that's 84 cards okay i'll be straight with you when i did tops boxes of cards you got 24 packs with 10 or 15 cards in each pack okay so this one is a 2024 top series one baseball retail display 20 packs per box 67 dollars yeah all right i'll think about it i mean that chris i can tell you right now i'm looking at this box i think that'd be a funny present to get me for you know done next time there's a present given done the box of baseball chris says when i got the upper deck griffy rookie i uh unpacked at the card shop when i was a kid it was it was the highlight of my life wow that's i mean that's not and i'm not even gonna be too yeah i'm not gonna make fun of that i i can see that because you know it's just there's something about wanting a certain card and it pops into view there's something about that moment uh you can get qualified right now for a trip to the Rio Las Vegas including a two it is real so good for you gonzo and i think gonzo only played once and he was able to i would like to say one the last thing on the baseball card yes here's the 1975 tops complete set in mint condition which in at one point in my life i would have definitely owned 10 times over okay right when i was a kid i must have had every one of these cards 10 times over the complete set mint condition on sale right now ebay $11,000 oh my gosh what was i thinking oh my gosh i mean i had it five times over scrappy i could be selling this and paying your salary oh my gosh i'm paying my salary yeah well no you're gonna have money left over if you're paying my salary then $11,000 is too much yeah i messed that up yeah i i'm not saying the cards are bad i just do not get you don't get it i don't get it right there's certain things that uh yeah you just don't get that a lot of people don't get that you wouldn't get it yeah all right here we go yeah yeah so i forgot i forgot we're playing a game here you have to make it through three questions each question's gonna get more difficult if you get the question right you move on if you get it wrong and chris gets right you're eliminated but if chris gets it wrong then you move on to the next question or you win if you're first time playa let us know before you get into the first question and you will get that question for free so let's start with someone's name i don't know that we have ever seen before but we'll see here in a second scott are you there hey scott i am here all right scott are you uh joining us for the first time so i'll tell you one thing i have somebody sitting next to me my son karen oh yes we remember him about a year ago i do i do i do the youngest winner ever yeah i do remember that so it's uh 1500 okay uh megal is the actual answer higher or lower lower lower do i know numbers today chris i do you are correct megal uh he he's made 1028 threes oh i'm not quite quite far short of the 1500 as it turned out so here we go all right we'll take a break we got a stay right there i'm traffic yeah hang on there megal you're the winner today hopefully you'll eventually be going to las vegas right now we are going to a quick timeout all right 4.27 is the time presello tony good junior matt scravey tony's down at the petco park great padre suari tonight padre's are back in action tomorrow night against the hot land of braves uh braves are actually playing a little bit better uh they're the uh top wild card right now in the national league the cardinals are the number two wild card the padre's no longer the number three wild card yeah they fell a percentage point behind the metropolitans where is our guy frank marcasey now i mean he gave up the season a month and a half ago on the Mets remember that oh yeah totally gave up and he's like the biggest met fan and he's like oh we can't wait we never do it right now the Mets are ahead of the padre's by a percentage point they uh beat the nats today seven nothing update fillies two dodgers one all solo home runs in this game trade turner brandon marsh for the fillies gavin lux just left the yard for the dodgers uh we got our big five and then after that don't forget the uh padre round table with all of us uh that'll be between five and six it's a commercial free hour of nothing but padre talk and then from six to seven it's matt scravey and the scravey chronicles yes sir i got a i got an amazing daily grape today can i get a hint um you know i mean you know i'll tell you in the break but it was okay it's something it's something that uh was very sad and it's not actually sad but it was sad i'll tell you in the break all right yeah i i can't go anywhere unless i hear okay i can't return for the big five unless i know what the stripes gonna be but you have to return for the big five it's coming up next on gwen and chris yeah i was feeling pretty good until i heard that jim rome thing there now my oblique is killing me i wasn't listening what does it say well he he's talking about a story that came out today i'm on raw sane brown oh yeah the great lion's receiver okay played the second half of last season with his oblique torn muscle torn completely off the bone oh played the whole c or you know three quarters of the season with that oh my god they said he you know he's got an oblique injury he goes out there every Sunday in place you know i'm not weak we you you but wait wait wait wait wait you more than us you make fun of athletes who are you know in your mind a little wimpy like tyler glass now is going to sit out the next six and a half years because he's got a back tightness but i'm on raw sane brown playing a whole season or most of it with a a torn off the bone oblique muscle that's pretty good makes the baseball players look real wimpy soft soft i say i mean you you sneeze and you feel your oblique in there out for eight weeks speaking uh soft zach wheeler the latest to uh miss a scheduled start and oblique for the fillies no his back hurts he saw probably saw tyler glass now getting some time off with that excuse you know i've decided on the same thing i woke up my back it's just a little tight i'm out for a month just a little tight take me out coach take me out yeah that's not how the old song went take me out coach i'm ready to sit yeah on the bed famous song all right uh here we go traffic and then today's big old five it's that time of the show when we check on the latest in sports only the most important topics and questions are brought to light stop what you're doing and listen these news stories will astound and amaze you the one the only oh my god who the hell cash blow big five starts now on ninety seven three the fan i gotta tell you chris we said it a couple times today but it is very nice when tony is back in studio with us it's the best i enjoy being back here yeah i i miss the air guitar i miss all of that that is that is the fun part you know i'm not trying to jump ahead here but that is fun part to there be no baseball is that we are in studio yeah a little bit more to not say and i want the season it because i've no i have a joy and a seat we hope we don't see you again until november we don't want to see you in four games i'm enjoying the seas it's crazy listen to what he said we're not going to see until november i'm expecting another long run but we did try to make up for yesterday by bringing our dogs in and it just didn't it was great my dog slept the entire your dog was fine my dog was barking yes uh my dog is no longer going to be allowed she got on the show a little bit oh lucky might be coming in on a daily basis now because he just sits in the corner looking he's fine i wouldn't that have everything i know about lucky would not have pointed me in the direction of he just slept really oh yeah i do tell you a lot tell us about the whole but i mean i know there's no mud in here he's he's an older gentleman now and so he's a little bit more true yes he's much well yeah the comparison and calm between your dog and my dog is no comparison that was very fun though getting in there it was fun having a man um all right i was listening to jesse and scan last night in the drive home uh when they were calling the game between pajamas and the manners and they were talking about wicksocks closer that was a hard thing to say michael co-pack in his feet of closing out a game with an immaculate inning which is if you don't know you get nine pitches nine strikes three outs every that's why it's immaculate uh that was the 113th immaculate inning of all time and jesse brought up that there have been 323 no hitters in baseball history so those numbers show the immaculate inning is much more difficult to accomplish than the no hitter tony why do you think this is more rare than a no hitter i mean there's a specific circumstance that has to take place i mean think about that nine pitches nine strikes nine punch outs yeah i mean when you think of it and that turns right i mean a foul ball could just change that you can go to guy can foul pitch off that's just the end of it a bad dump it takes it takes some luck you know i think for if never happened under angel Hernandez's watch right the the umpire still can't get right the umpire behind you may call the first pitch of the game right down the middle ball you never even know if you get a chance to get an immaculate and i just think there's there's so many things that have to go your way from that standpoint um whereas you know over the course of a nine inning game you can maneuver your way to no hits if you're just if you're really good and even those take a little bit of luck there's usually a few plays that are made in those in those occasions so uh yeah i think it's it's just tough and the way you know pitching is done now i would say it's probably even tougher right because guys don't have the pinpoint control so now you're dependent on the hitter chasing a little bit yeah chris i don't understand why there hasn't been more immaculate in his i don't know if you heard that or not but i did okay it's gonna be talking to me no i don't know why i said it was angel and play the angel hernanda's thing oh i do okay that's going to turn me off um yeah i don't really quite know i i would expect that there'd have been more immaculate innings but there isn't um you know to me the best i mean this is impressive that copek did this etc um especially it's uh impressive for him because he normally doesn't get too many guys out i i know that you know as a white socks don't have a lot of chances to close games but to me the most impressive strikeout thing that i've seen this year still easily jeremya jeremya strata i mean getting 13 consecutive batters to strike out that and then you talk about just somebody you know squibbing one in front of the plate over the course of four games so it's impressive um i mean he had consecutive strikeouts but if i'm not mistaken those weren't one two three innings in each of those uh for jeremya jeremya um i think i think the three of them were one two three innings and the other was reparts of innings if i'm not mistaken yeah no you never had an immaculate yeah that's what i'm saying oh yeah and that's you know i think that speaks to why it's so difficult i mean he comes in for two-thirds of it and he strikes those two guys out and he continues to do it but you know it's not an immaculate inning it just gots to line up this is a very interesting conversation they had yesterday i appreciated it chris mountain west media how about jesse having the stat handy of how many no workers are you kidding i mean let's not overlook the fact that he always has that stuff i'm sitting in the car and he's like there's almost been hot or a double the immaculate innings and i was like i wonder if he knows the number and then he said oh there's been this many immaculate of course either i guarantee you that immaculate inning happened he saw it and then that was the next thought right i wonder how many you know what this would be perfect for a certain point in the game and then he goes to do the research and he's got it all handy you know i've uh snuck into the booth a few times and i will share this i hope i'm not talking out of school i don't think i am jesse i believe correct me if i'm wrong tony has three or maybe even four computer monitors open at one time during the game so it's unbelievable to me how much and then he has his written notes in front of him and his scorecard so he's only got two two arms but he's he's able to operate this stuff all at the same time he has he has his computer he's got his little ipad laptop in that computer in that laptop that he has on his left he's got about three different windows open yeah and in each one of the window i mean one of the windows is like just statistics and little tidbits on every guy that's on the other roster oh it's so yeah he's prepared it's not surprising that uh he is sounds as good as he does i used to make boards for a former host in town that was uh affiliated with the chargers his his like color analyst boards and it would take me six days to put this board together because of how much information is on there and you may never even use it you may not this thing so all right back to number four chris mountain west media day happened uh or is happening this week and the Aztecs didn't really get much love they are predicted to finish eighth and for the first time in the long time no Aztecs are on the all conference team uh the pre-seasonal conference team do you think this is accurate chris well uh probably well i hope it's not accurate i hope the eighth place part is not accurate and i and i'm pretty sure that by seasons end uh the Aztecs always have enough talent they'll find somebody on their way to the all conference team but i do think it serves us a little bit of a reminder of you know the seasons less than two months away of how much john lewis work he still has you know he has to do you know this team has fallen from grace i mean they were you know consistently you know contending for amount west championship with all kinds of all conference players for you know a decade or more you know with brady and then with rocky long and then even when brady came back but all of a sudden you know last year it fell and it fell hard i think they went two and six in the conference so just a reminder you know if shawn lewis gets them into contention this year uh he's doing a hell of a job tell me do you think this is accurate from the pre-season mount west yeah as chris said i hope not i i hope when it's all said and done um you know when the season ends we we got a few guys on that on that first team that being said this team is coming off one of their lowest years and quite some time and so um you know and with so many you know so transfers coming in i i think it's fair not for them not necessarily to have guys that are up on you know first team second team pre-season picks but i'm excited for this season i don't and for the first time in a long time i don't know what to expect at all and in some ways that's kind of it's kind of interesting right it's like a a a clean canvas for coach lewis to now you know go out and build draw whatever he wants to and so i'm excited we'll see how it goes but yeah i i am enjoying the state of i don't know that's where we all are i don't know yeah that's interesting because that makes me extremely uncomfortable well based on where we were yes but you're a glass yeah half empty guy a glass what's a glass you know what he meant it's a cousin of a glass all right well we'll see after meeting those guys earlier in the week did i really said laugh yes you did oh my god you stopped yourself yeah but after meeting those kids i'm pretty excited about this yeah we had those kids in uh monday and uh they did they were great fun talking about the Aztecs and i know they're excited so why shouldn't we be right number three speaking of media days during big 12 media days uh mike gundy the head coach of oklahoma state addressed why he opted not to punish start running back ollie gordon the second who had been arrested for driving under the influence gundy explained he figured that gordon had drank two to four beers but here's here's the full thing and people are kind of questioning this let me hear let me hear so i looked it up on my phone what would be the legal limit like in oklahoma is 0.08 and ollie was 0.1 so i looked it up and it was based on body weight not to get into the legal side of it but i thought really two or three beers or four i'm not just fine with all i did i'm telling you what decision i made well i thought i've probably done that a thousand times in my life and and i you know it's just fine so i got lucky people get lucky ollie made a um a decision that he wished he could have done better but when i talked ollie i told him said you're lucky you got out light so that's what he said and people are like what you just condoned drinking and driving he did make a statement later on x saying my intended point today at big 12 media day was that we are all guilty of making bad decisions it was not a reference to something specific so as you can tell this is a lot but tony did he make a mistake by saying this his point that he was basically he was saying he deserved another chance right but he was very poor in how he delivered this i drank four beers and i just got lucky i was driving drunk and i just got lucky i'll take you for your word that that's not what your intention was yeah but that's certainly how it sounded when you were you know you looked up okay it's .08 he was one so how many more beers is that than the legal limits you know i drank a couple of beers too many right and so you know in a day at least in in in Gundy's time of well he probably still having four beers to take but just take it back when he was a young man they didn't have services like uber very easily to oh yeah have you to take you someplace right yeah yeah uh yeah so i think ultimately his delivery was extremely poor and considering that he is a leader of young men mm-hmm uh i would expect a little bit more but this is also the same individual that gave us the spectacular rant of i'm 40 i'm a man i'm a man i'm 40 so i mean christ you know what we're talking about he gave me this look like he had no idea what the i'm a man definitely knows what we're talking about yeah i'm just trying to figure out oh okay i'm trying to figure out how old he is now and why he doesn't know better than to say he's absolutely stupid remarks that he said i mean this has got to go down as one of the dumbest things i've ever heard a leader of young men ever say uh you're so a largely college audience you know and you're telling them it's quite all right we all do it go out and have three or four beers and drive you might get lucky like i did i i cannot believe this guy honestly said this um he and furthermore he brought this young man to the media day he said it was kind of his punishment he's not allowed to hide from i see sure that's his punishment yeah why don't you come with me did he did he let him get up on the thing and get some questions you know i honestly don't know but this is uh this is uh well i gotta be honest with you there's got to be an ad somewhere who would think this is almost a fireable offense to say something this stupid i'm being honest with you i don't know where that ad is but my Gundy's lucky that it's not his ad i eat you have to wonder right i mean i don't think make van Gundy or make van Gundy my Gundy has been in any oh i said van Gundy too that's where it got me on yours uh but the glove is half full by Gundy i don't know that he's done anything that uh has warned him getting in trouble anything but clearly he's been there for a long time a long time you know whatever ad is there is is not disappointed in the work that he is he is putting out so now they should be disappointed in that though ollie gordon did speak to the media i'm seeing some clips on that so i mean i get just on the from the specific point of he brought him there for punishment i i don't mind him bringing him and then putting him up there so he had to answer some questions and you know hopefully did a better job to his head coach did in terms of answering him i left this back i bet you he did too i left this fact out until the end but many are pointing to the fact that um when you're 20 years old your limit is point zero zero zero zero zero zero it's not technically point zero zero but i didn't realize he was a 21 i didn't realize he was a 21 yeah thanks for leaving that out so we can comment on it yes yes number three that one number two uh all right so here's a social media interaction between a major league baseball player and a fan and then i'll ask you something after but it's comes from corn tom on on on x at tom foolery if you would like to go see this but he tweeted do you do you think even whip marifield's family buys his jersey he just can't seem to get it going and fill any tag whip marifield in between oh he was trying to be a you know what so whip marifield replied he said obviously not in fact they all changed their last name by may first hoping to get them to change it back by october they did buy all three of my all-star jerseys though which is a good comeback very good then corn tom comes back and said what i said was mean but i'm really just hoping for more production at the plate defenses solid go fillies which is a back back back back let's one of my favorites right there oh he replied to me now i'm going to be nice oh you feel you this is where the human side kicks in and you're like oh i didn't know that he was actually going to see really he reads he reads this now i feel like a you know what yeah and whip marifield did reply again but it was more of like a hey i don't want to make outs i'm trying out here we're all trying blah blah blah you know good for you know what you are a great individual for even giving this guy or gal the time of day tom foolery i think he did it because he wanted to get the all-star jersey line in which was really good uh so the question is because i came across this from someone posted this whole conversation and said it's incredibly ignorant that a fan tags an athlete in a nasty tweet being critical is one thing but tagging them in it is evil so chris is tagging an athlete in a mean tweet evil evil i don't think so in this day and age um and i understand that's a little bar right i i think that you know athletes have a right to be tagged and to find out what people are saying about them if they so choose to i do think the majority of these guys do they look at all this do they all look at it i think they all you know i mean we see it look we see it when we get tagged uh you know on the radio station for saying something that somebody doesn't like and you feel some type of way it's best not to yeah mostly me i get it i pointed but it's i got one a couple weeks you know it's really you know once in a while i never try to engage because it just seems to make things worse i think in this case wit mare field that had a pretty good comeback and you know i think it was fair but i mean it's also philadelphia fans right i mean they're pretty intense they are what do you think towing uh i think i think i think he's an athlete i think he's i agree you're you're you're going here's a chance where you know twitter is set up to where you can talk behind you somebody's back yeah oh yeah and it's perfectly fine they they probably will never see they have to search their own name but for you to then turn around and and tag them in it means you want them to see but if you are going to be that person that tags somebody stand on it stand on it don't do the backtracking don't do it don't do the moonwalk stand on it if you send a tweet out that says i wonder if mitt wit mary field's family buys his jersey it's really aggressive and he replies back don't turn into oh that was really mean of me stand on it stand on what you said i had it happen to me a couple weeks ago and i positive the person didn't think i was going to reply or see it happened to be doing the tv game the other blast the series before i think it was against milwaukee and somebody had said they enjoyed me being on there and he left the um what was it the gift of eva kind of oh yeah yeah yeah and i just said hey and i and i went did my wit mary field i said uh you know you can always tune in to 97.3 to fan we got two terrific broadcasters over there and jesse agler and and uh and bob skam nice job very good that is a way to handle it and he also that's one way to handle it back the other way to handle it is what the old giant short stop johnnie la master did back in the day before johnnie la master do you remember johnnie la master no i don't really no i just love how we always have to go back to some obscure player from the center well i have to go back to it because that's the guy who is part of the story of the master you know johnnie does it no i don't know johnnie la master the giant fans used to call him johnnie the disaster uh he wasn't good about 190 he was really a punch and judy player but he got booed so often at candlestick park back in the day that he just went out one night with a jersey instead of the master said boo that's pretty good so it's a good story that's why i had to go back all right you booed you passed thank you uh i didn't do a good job last week because someone was tweeting me about how i was terrible on the air and i decided to quote tweet him and all this other stuff which only strengthened his opinion to all the people who replied i was like wow usually this is like the Whitmerfield thing they go hey i'm sorry yo that's his called standing on business yeah he stood on business on friday the show was called it's the glorified padreas homer and doesn't know anything about baseball show so that was you being that was you doing your joker uh your joker bitch yeah impression there petty petty scrappy and then halfway through the weekend i was like i really need to get over this dude like he has gotten in my head he's still in him sounds like no he's not anymore but he definitely was he's a number one all right so at the minnesota state fair our fair just left thankfully so i don't have to deal with that traffic anymore but daren ravell tweeted this out he said new at the minnesota state fair deep-fried ranch dressing here is the picture everyone deep fried at ranch dressing um i would eat this is there any cheese in there or anything it just dress it yes yes um i think todie is up first here i think i've already heard what he wanted he's not gonna even try one are you no chris you gonna try one of these you crack one of those things open and all that spill out um warm ranch chris chris i thought you were gonna ask me what the most disgusting thing yeah i could think of that somebody could deep fry no you could be for anything i guess you could get that to stay in there i don't know but they have deep fried kool-aid at the uh fair they have stuff like that i was supposed to be cold now i remember deep i remember deep fried butter coming to the fair yeah that's pretty crazy it's pretty crazy i don't know i people eat this though i'm not but a lot of people do that's why they keep making this stuff i mean i'm taking in we have the uh do we not have the most unhealthy country in the world without a doubt we have to without a doubt there's no way at a at a at a state fair and uh or a city fair and parents they're making deep fried ranch dressing ranch and butter and people are eating it yeah let's show people get healthy out there please go go do SD fat loss you won't be eating deep fried ranch balls ever again don't say fact that oh man all right that's it for the big five and that's it for the show guys we have the round table replay coming up next and then tomorrow we have relatively mild days and breaks mild uh round table no fights no arguments i don't i purposely don't listen to the round table in the morning because i stay here for the full hour and i listen to you guys and i just steal what you guys say and then use it on the screen we show so it's perfect so how are you starts now on 97th read the fan i gotta tell you chris we said it a couple times today but it is very nice when tony is back in studio with us it's the best i enjoyed being back here yeah i miss the air guitar i miss all of that that is that is the fun part you know i'm not trying to jump ahead here but that is fun part to there being no baseball is that we are in studio yeah a little bit more good not saying i want the season in because i have a joy in the sea we hope we don't see you again until november we don't want to see you in four games i'm enjoying the seas at scrapie listen to what he said we're not going to see it till november i'm expecting another long run but we did try to make up for yesterday by bringing our dogs in and it just didn't it was great my dog slept the entire day your dog was fine my dog was barking the entire day yes my dog is no longer going to be allowed she got on the show a little bit oh lucky might be coming in on a daily basis now because he just sits in the corner looking fine i wouldn't that have everything i know about lucky would not have pointed me in the direction of he just slept really oh yeah i do tell you a lot he tells you about the whole but i mean i know there's no mutton here he's he's an older gentleman now and so he's a little bit more strong yes he's much well yeah the comparison and calm between your dog and my dog is no comparison that was very fun though getting in there it was fun having a man um all right i was listening to Jesse and scan last night in the drive home uh when they were calling the game between Padres and the manners and they were talking about white socks closer that was a hard thing to say Michael Copac in his feet of closing out a game with an immaculate inning which is if you don't know you get nine pitches nine strikes three outs every that's why it's immaculate that was the 113th immaculate inning of all time and Jesse brought up that there have been 323 no hitters in baseball history so those numbers show the immaculate inning is much more difficult to accomplish than the no hitter Tony why do you think this is more rare than a no hitter i mean there's a specific circumstance that has to take place i mean think about that nine pitches nine strikes nine punch outs yeah i mean when you think of it and that turns right i mean a foul ball could just change that you can go to guy can foul pitch off that's just the end of it a bad umpire it takes it takes some luck you know i think for if never happened under angel Hernandez is watch it right the umpire still can't get right the umpire behind you may call the first pitch of the game right down the middle ball you never even know if you get a chance to get an immaculate and i just think there's there's so many things that have to go your way from that standpoint um whereas you know over the course of a nine inning game you can maneuver your way to no hits if you're just if you're really good and even those take a little bit of luck there's usually a few plays that are made in those in those occasions so uh yeah i think it's it's just tough and the way you know pitching is done now i would say it's probably even tougher right because guys don't have the pinpoint control so now you're dependent on the hitter chasing a little bit yeah chris i don't understand why there hasn't been more immaculate innings i don't know if you heard that or not but i did okay it's good to talk to me no i don't know why i said you was angel played the angel Hernandez thing oh i knew okay that's going to be off um yeah i don't really quite know i i would expect there to be more immaculate innings but there isn't um you know to me the best i mean this is impressive that copek did this etc um especially uh impressive for him because he normally doesn't get too many guys out i i know that you know as a white socks don't have a lot of chances to close games but to me the most impressive strikeout thing that i've seen this year is still easily jeremya jeremya strata i mean getting 13 consecutive batters to strike out that i mean you talk about just somebody you know squipping one in front of the plate over the course of four games so it's impressive um i mean he had consecutive strikeouts but if i'm not mistaken those weren't one two three innings in each of those uh for jeremya jeremya um i think i think the three of them were one two three innings and the other was reparts of innings if i'm not mistaken yeah no he never had an immaculate yeah that's what i'm saying oh yeah and that's you know i think that speaks to why it it's so difficult i mean he comes in for two-thirds of it and he strikes those two guys out and he continues to do it but you know it's not an immaculate inning it just gots to line up this is a very interesting conversation thing i yesterday i appreciated it chris mountain west media how about jesse having the stat handy of how many know where is that are you kidding i mean let's not overlook the fact that he always has that stuff i'm sitting in the car and he's like there's almost been a double the immaculate innings and i was like i wonder if he knows the number and then he said well there's been this many immaculate of course either this many i guarantee you that immaculate inning happened and he saw it and then that was the next thought right huh i wonder how many you know what this would be perfect for a certain point in the game and then he goes to do the research and he's got it all handy you know i've uh snuck into the booth a few times and i will share this i hope i'm not talking out of school uh i don't think i am jesse i believe correct me if i'm wrong tony has three or maybe even four computer monitors open at one time during the game so it's unbelievable to me how much and then he has his written notes in front of him and his scorecard so he's only got two two arms but he's he's able to operate this stuff all at the same time he has he has his computer he's got his little ipad laptop in that computer in that laptop that he has on his left he's got about three different windows open yeah and in each one of the window i mean one of the windows is like just statistics and little tidbits on every guy that's on the other roster oh it's so he's yeah he's prepared it's not surprising that uh he sounds as good as he does i used to make boards for a former host in town that was uh affiliated with the chargers his his his like color analyst boards and it would take me six days to put this board together because of how much information is on there and you may never even use it you may not this thing so all right back to number four chris mountain west media day happened uh or is happening this week and the Aztecs didn't really get much love they are predicted to finish eighth and for the first time in a long time no Aztecs are on the all conference team uh the preseason all conference team do you think this is accurate chris well uh probably well i hope it's not accurate i hope the eighth place part is not accurate and i and i'm pretty sure that by season's end uh the Aztecs always have enough talent they'll find somebody on their way to the all conference team but i do think it serves as a little bit of a reminder of you know the seasons uh less than two months away of how much Sean Lewis work he still has you know he has to do you know this team has fallen from grace i mean they were you know consistently you know contending for amount west championship with all kinds of all conference players for you know a decade or more you know with brady and then with rocky long and then even when brady came back but all of a sudden you know last year it fell and it fell hard i think they went two and six in the conference so just a reminder you know if Sean Lewis gets them into contention this year uh he's doing a hell of a job Tony do you think this is accurate from the preseason mount west yeah as chris said i hope not i i hope when it's all said and done um you know when the season ends we we got a few guys on that on that first team um that being said this team is coming off one of their lowest years and quite some time and so um you know and with so many you know so transfers coming in i think it's fair not for them necessarily to have guys that are up on you know first team second team preseason picks but uh i'm excited for this season i don't and for the first time in a long time i don't know what to expect at all and in some ways that's kind of that's kind of interesting right it's like a a a clean canvas for coach louis to now you know go out and build draw whatever he wants to and so i'm excited we'll see how it goes but yeah i i i am enjoying the state of i don't know that's where we all are i don't know yeah that's interesting because that makes me extremely uncomfortable well based on where we were yes but you're a laugh yeah half empty guy glass what's a glass you know what he meant it's a cousin of a glass all right well we'll see after meeting those guys earlier in the week did i really said laugh yes you did you stopped yourself but like you did so uh yeah but after meeting those kids i'm pretty excited about this yeah we had those kids in uh on monday and uh they they were great fun talking about the Aztecs and i know they're excited so why shouldn't we be right number three speaking of media days during big 12 media days mike gundi the head coach of oklahoma state addressed why he opted not to punish start running back ollie gordon the second who had been arrested for driving under the influence gundi explained he figured that gordon had drank two to four beers but here's here's the full thing and people are kind of questioning this let me hear so i looked it up on my phone what would be the legal limit like in oklahoma is 0.08 and ollie was 0.1 so i looked it up and it was based on body weight not to get into the legal side of it but i thought really two or three beers or four i'm not just fine with all i did i'm telling you what decision i made well i thought i probably done that a thousand times in my life and and i you know it's just fine so i got lucky people get lucky ollie made a decision that he wished he could have done better but when i talked ollie i told him said you're lucky you got out light so that's what he said and people are like what you just condoned drinking and driving he did make a statement later on x saying my intended point today at big 12 media day was that we are all guilty of making bad decisions it was not a reference to something specific so as you can tell this is a lot but tony did he make a mistake by saying this his point that he was basically he was saying he deserved another chance right but he was very poor in how he delivered that i drank four beers right at home before and i just got lucky i was driving drunk and i just got lucky i'll take you for your word that that's not what your intention was yeah but that's certainly how it sounded when you were you know you looked up okay it's .08 he was one so how many more beers is that than the legal limits you know i drank a couple of beers too many right and so you know in a day at least in in in Gundy's time of well he probably still happened for beers and try to stay but just take it back when he was a young man they didn't have services like uber very easily to oh yeah have you to take you someplace right yeah yeah yeah so i think ultimately his delivery was extremely poor and considering that he is a leader of young men mm-hmm uh i would expect a little bit more but this is also the same individual that gave us the spectacular rant of i'm 40 i'm a man i'm 40 so i mean christy you know what we're talking about he gave me this look like he had no idea what the i'm a man i'm definitely knows what we're talking about yeah i'm just trying to figure out oh okay i'm trying to figure out how old he is now and why he doesn't know better than to say he's absolutely stupid remarks that he said i mean this has got to go down as one of the dumbest things i've ever heard a leader of young men ever say uh you're so a largely college audience you know and you're telling them it's quite alright we all do it go out and have three or four beers and try you might get lucky like i did i i cannot believe this guy honestly said this um he furthermore he brought this young man to the media day he said it was kind of his punishment he's not allowed to hide from i see sure that's his punishment yeah why don't you come with me did he did he let him get up on the thing and get some questions you know i honestly don't know but like this is uh this is uh well i gonna be honest with you there's got to be an ad somewhere who would think this is almost a fireable offense to say something this stupid i'd be honest with you i don't know where that ad is but my Gundy's lucky that it's not his ad right you have to wonder right i mean i don't think make van Gundy or make van Gundy my Gundy has been in any oh i said van Gundy too that's where you got me on yours uh my the glove is half full Gundy i don't know that he's done anything that uh has warranted him getting in trouble anything but clearly he's been there for a long time a long time you know whatever ad is there is is not disappointed in the work that he is he is putting out so yeah you should be disappointed in that though ollie gordon did speak to the media i'm seeing some clips on there he's so i mean i if just on the from the specific point of he brought him there for punishment i don't mind him bringing him and then putting him up there so he had to answer some questions and you know hopefully did a better job than his head coach did in terms of answering those i left this i bet you he did i bet you he did too i left this fact out until the end but many are pointing to the fact that um when you're 20 years old your limit is point zero zero zero zero that's it's not technically point zero zero but i didn't realize he was a 21 i didn't realize he was a 21 yeah thanks for leaving that out so that we can comment on it yes yes number two uh all right so here's a social media interaction between a major league baseball player and a fan and then i'll ask you something after but it comes from corn tom on on on x at tom foolery if you would like to go see this but he tweeted do you do you think even whip marefield's family buys his jersey he just can't seem to get it going in filly and he tagged with marefield and oh he's oh he was trying to be a you know what so what marefield replied he said obviously not in fact they all changed their last name by may first hoping to get them to change it back by october they did by all three of my all-star jerseys though which is a good comeback very good and then corn tom comes back and said what i said was mean but i'm really just hoping for more production at the plate defenses solid go fillies which is a back back back let's one of my favorites right there oh he replied to me now i'm going to be nice oh he feel you this is where the human side kicks in you're like oh i didn't know that he was actually going to stand there really he reads he reads this now i feel like a you know what yeah and whip marefield did reply again but it was more of like a hey i don't want to make outs i'm trying out here we're all trying blah blah blah you know good for you know with you are a great individual for even giving this guy or gal the time of day tom foolery well i think he did it because he wanted to get the all-star jersey line in which was really good so the question is because i came across this from someone posted this whole conversation and said it's incredibly ignorant that a fan tags an athlete in a nasty tweet being critical is one thing but tagging them in it is evil so chris is tagging an athlete in a mean tweet evil evil i don't think so in this day and age um and i understand that's a little bar right i think that you know athletes have a right to be tagged and to find out what people are saying about them if they so choose to i do think the majority of these guys do they look at all this do they all look at it i think they all you know i mean we see it look we see it when we get tagged uh you know on the radio station for saying something that somebody doesn't like and you feel some type of way it's best not to yeah mostly me i got it i pointed but it's i got one a couple weeks you know it's really you know once in a while i never try to engage because it just seems to make things worse i think in this case wit mare field had a pretty good comeback and you know i think it was fair but i mean it's also philadelphia fans right i mean they're pretty intense they are what do you think tony uh i think i think i think i think i think you're you're you're you're going here's a chance where you know twitter is set up to where you can talk behind you somebody's back yeah oh yeah and it's perfectly fine they they probably will never see they have to search their own name but for you to then turn around and and tag them in it means you want them to see but if you are going to be that person that tags somebody stand on it stand on it don't do the backtracking don't do it don't do the moonwalk stand on it if you send a tweet out that says i wonder if whit mary field's family buys his jersey really aggressive and he replies back don't turn into oh that was really mean of me stand on it stand on what you said i had it happen to me a couple weeks ago and i did positive the person didn't think i was going to reply or see it happen to be doing the tv game the other last the series before mm-hmm i think it was against milwaukee and somebody had said they enjoyed me being on there and he left the um what was it the gift of eva kind of oh yeah yeah and i just said hey and i and i did my whit mary field i said uh you know you can always tune in to 97-3 to fan we got two terrific broadcasters over there and jessie agler and uh and bob skinner nice job very good that is a way to handle it and he also that's one way to handle it back the other way to handle it is what the old giant short stop johnny lemaster did back in the day before johnny lemaster do you remember johnny lemaster no i don't really no i just love how we always have to go back to some obscure player from the senate well i have to go back to it because that's the guy who was part of the story you know johnny doesn't know i don't know johnny lemaster the giant fans used to call him johnny the disaster uh he only hit about 190 he was really a punch and judy player but he got booed so often at candlestick park back in the day that he just went out one night with a jersey instead of a master said boo that's pretty good so it's a good story that's why i had to go back all right you pass you pass thank you uh i didn't do a good job last week because someone was tweeting me about how i was terrible on the air and i decided to quote tweet him and all this other stuff which only strengthened his opinion to all the people who replied i was like wow usually this is like the whip marifil thing they go hey i'm sort of you know that's his called standing on business yeah he stood on business on friday the show was called it's the glorified padreus homer and doesn't know anything about baseball show so that was you been that was you doing your joker uh your joker bitch yeah impression there petty petty scrappy and halfway through the weekend i was like i really need to get over this too like he has gotten in my head i still in it sounds like it no he's not anymore but he definitely was all right so at the minnesota state fair our fair just left thankfully so i don't have to deal with that traffic anymore but darren ravell tweeted this out he said new at the minnesota state fair deep fried ranch dressing here is the picture everyone a deep fried ranch dressing um i would eat this is there any cheese in there or anything it just dress it as this yes um i think todie is up first here i think i've already heard what he want he's not gonna even try one are you no chris you gonna try one of these you crack one of those things open and all that spill out uh warm ranch chris chris i thought you were gonna ask me what the most disgusting thing yeah i could think of that somebody could deep fry no you could deep fry anything i guess how do you even get that to stay in there i don't know but they have deep fried coolade at the uh fair they have stuff like that they're supposed to be cold i remember deep i remember deep fried butter coming to the fair yeah that's pretty crazy it's pretty crazy i don't know are you going to eat this though i'm not but a lot of people do that's why they keep making this stuff i mean we have the uh do we not have the most unhealthy country in the world without a doubt we have to without a doubt there's no way at a at a at a at a state fair and uh or a city fair and parents they're making deep fried ranch dressing ranch and butter and people are eating it yeah this show people get healthy out there please go go do SD fat loss you won't be eating deep fried ranch balls ever again don't say about that oh man all right that's it for the big five and that's it for the show guys we have the round table replay coming up next and then tomorrow we have relatively mild days and breaks mild uh round table no fights no arguments i don't i purposely don't listen to the round table in the morning because i stay here for the full hour and i listen to you guys and i just steal what you guys say and then use it on the scravy show so it's perfect so how are you coming up with uh was it the host the the the homer host that doesn't know anything about racism knowing how to speak and understand a new language can be an
