[Music] It's Scotty in Ghost of Breakfast. [Music] Good morning everyone, it is a wet old day in Western Australia town, especially right here in the Metro area. It's 14 degrees and there's puddles of plenty drive carefully heading for a top of 18. We're in the Toolkit Depot studio for the next two hours thanks to Sonos, the wonderful team who provide us with multi-room listening, wireless home theatre and a whole lot more if you're putting in a sound system, it's Sonos and Sonos only experienced the game changing sound this season with Sonos, Scotty Cummings is back in studio after a little brief venture to Melbourne. Morning to you. Soju. That's it. What'd you say? That's what I said. No, what did you say? It's a George. Let's try my head. Let's go the way my head everyone. Yeah. That's okay. That doesn't sound right. Hey Scotty, you know, I'm not one for wanting to take the bait or to get aggressive. No, no you're not. You're not. You want to throw out the bait. Yeah. Well, it was a form of risk. You found some aggressiveness. So, my good mate, Corn, thanks to me. Great pleasure, Corn. How are you? I saw him yesterday when I said hello. Did you? I told you that, didn't I? Yeah, when I said hello. He said you need to make you come back on X or he needs to, or it was you need to make you come back on and then a kiss. I'm not too sure. I'm not exactly sure. He's very affectionate. Anyway, and I had four interview requests yesterday from Adelaide radio stations yesterday and I'm going to save it for Friday for Fireball Friday because I'm going to become a regular on that. He then says, "You'll come on Fireball on Friday. We'll make you more famous." Like seriously. I'm looking at the end of it. I'm famous. And this comes about from yesterday's little bad. I'll show yesterday. This is what I said on Monday. Now, I want people to listen to what I said and not make up stuff. What ruins the fun? Have a listen to what I said yesterday. Confident that he is at the top of the shopping list. You can't come out and say he's going to get the job because they are going to go through this massive process. But I do believe of the ready of the coaches that are coaching his name in the last 48 hours has certainly soared into contention of West Coast. It would have been nice to put the name Ken Hinckley in the grab somewhere. That's what I was talking about. It sounds to me. I don't want to take any of your advice from 20 seconds ago. But it sounds to me as you said that the job is Ken Hinckley's. Josh Carr was asked, he says, "The perennial assistant coach. Two I see. I think he's got aspirations to be a very good coach." I've got aspirations to be 20 kilos lighter in a supermarket. No, don't be hard on him. He's clearly can coach. He's probably very well-sorted after him. I don't turn on what I'm on. Ever listened to this yesterday when I asked in a press conference about the talk of Ken Hinckley being targeted or at the top of the shopping list. Well, I think he's probably just got to look at the source first and I think it was gossage, wasn't it? Is there that reliable? He heard a bit of Max Mark before I was singing about it last night on the plate. The old, let's try and nip it in the butt and blame them to have a joke about the source trick. It's an old favourite of players and ex-players and tried to discredit the source. Now, I just need to say to Josh, I don't reckon if Ken Hinckley's manager or Ken took a phone call over the last 48 hours to say, "Hey, you know, everything's don't go right here at the end, you know, worst-goes of Ken." I don't reckon Ken Hinckley walks in to the coaches room and says, "Hey, Josh, guess who I just had a phone call from?" He wouldn't know. And you have not been wrong in at least a month. I'm not wrong with this. Over 30 years is not a bad run. I'm not wrong with this. That he's on top of the... The club is not going to come out and say it. Of course, they're not. I think he's not saying it. No. His manager's not saying it. Everyone is talking about it. Let me tell you, it is a hot topic in Adelaide and so much so that Carr would say that about me, right? And if you had listened to the elongated version, there was dead-ass short version. There were crickets when he made that little crap. Well, that's a standard tactic. I don't want to talk about it anymore. If Josh Carr had any sort of common sense whatsoever, his answer knowing that he wants to be a Senate coach is, well, why wouldn't he be? He's now standing coach. Can he think he should be absolutely on top of this shopping list? That's up to him. They can get him out of here because he's so good and loved here, but he'll be absolutely going for him. This is what he had to say furthermore because the crickets, noise, that was at the press conference, you got to invite them in sometimes. I was sitting back for a long way away yesterday and I think it was great that Griffith was here today and I thought it was terrific. And Josh Carr then proceeded to answer a number of questions about the Port Adelaide coach. It's actually lit the fire for the local media in Adelaide to try and get to the bottom of his coaching tenure, Port Adelaide's coaching future, Ken Hinckley's future. This is what he had to say about the media linking Hinckley and West Coast. I think we all know what the industry's like. So whatever makes a good story and sells papers and gets people to watch, then that's what has to be reported. So we're fully aware of how that works. And football clubs lie, Josh. That's the number one language of football clubs. They just lie, right? We know that. Sometimes they have to. Correct. They've got to protect their protectables, if there is such a thing. Yeah. And then somehow Josh Carr got asked if he was interested in the Eagles job. Not that I think he's certainly on their shopping list. I don't think Josh Carr would be absolutely in the first 10 choices to be brutally honest with your car. We don't think that's what they need. Okay. I've been really clear from probably this time last year that I'm here to stay in Adelaide and not moving away from Adelaide any time soon. You know, everyone's settled. I've moved a few times over the last few years and I'm, you know, fully entrenched at Port. Well, he moved under COVID-2 and got fine for breaching COVID protocols when he's met with me at home and they went to his house and he wasn't there. Clearly less disciplined. All right. Then he got dropped for a game by a free-mail was coaching staff because, remember, he wasn't allowed to coach because he was super troubled. He was dropped. You were dropped. Carr, come on. He's just used an old tactic. He's just taken the Mickey. Yeah. I don't just use a good man. A bit of fun. A bit of fun. A bit of fun. Grab 24 chicken meat nuggets from 9.95. Get more for your money at Mackels. Good luck getting an endorsement out of us. Get out of your car. You're a funny, funny man. All righty. There we go with that. All righty. You sort of drag the f out a little bit. Then you go to your funny, funny man. Let's not that I need any endorsement from Sam McClure, but it was raised courtesy of Huchie on footy classified last night and very unlike Huchie, not to throw in. Well, we heard this on SCNWA. Oh, what are you thinking? Yeah, I know. He didn't walk up there. I'm sure it was. Don't be hitting his office. He pretended to be on the phone. We're going back to more depth. I knew he was not. It's like the Eagles. It's like when the footballers used to come back after a loss and you'd go to the airport to get an interview with them to do a stop them coming in. They'll all be on the phone. Grab the phone. On the phone. On the phone. Then all of a sudden the phone would ring. All righty. This is Sam McClure, just ticking off on the Hinkley West Coast link. Mates and calls both to South Australia and Western Australia today. I'm not absolutely sure that there is a hit list yet. And if there is, he would be at the top of it. They're definitely interested in speaking to people with coaching experience. I'm not sure Huchie that they absolutely want to go down the road of finding the next young guy, given that there is an internal belief that the next five years is going to be pretty difficult. So for someone who can experience, we'd definitely be attracted. He's contracted to Port Adelaide next year, of course. And I spoke to a board member yesterday at West Coast and... Who was it? And I asked about the coaching scenario. And Don Pike is driving the coaching bus with the support of clearly of the board and keeping the board updated. And I mentioned the name Ken Hinkley to this said board member. They said his name has not been brought up in any way, which is confirmation his name has been brought up in every possible way. It's how it's brought me on. How'd you know this? No, no, we were smoking. We haven't spoken to him. No, I don't think you've spoken to him. But... Exactly right. Alrighty, thank you, Dirk. Good to have Dirk back. Not as Dirk has just texted him. More importantly, Tim, I love your madness in your laughter. Yeah, well, you know what he didn't write too. He disappeared. He jumped off us. He was all over the eastern state. So I heard him messaging while, you know, when I was listening to the podcast. Yeah, now we're up there. And he loves us and he's a good man. And we have some fun, but good morning, Tim. It's got, yes, Tim, you were very famous out of your performance almost two weeks ago on Fireball Friday. Honestly, Tim, that was the best performance I've seen on this year. And can you do some life and we love you, Gloucesteradarmus. Thank you, thank you. What else, sis? Oh, I am S-E-N-C. Dirk, you've got to be over there. And for those who are wanting to know, Mike says, has on this day been tied it up from yesterday? I was concerned. Because, you know, then the Mike's went off and I couldn't, you know, I could see it through the screen, but I couldn't hear. And I was just trying to get your attention and go breathe. There was no angst. There was no angst. It was all good. No, it's... No, it's... It works! [LAUGHTER] Ah, did you... did you, Robert Ead? No. Far from it. Oh, the boys explained the technical issues that they had. Ah, that old chestnut again. Yep. Yeah, yeah. And tried to unblame him in the tool. Bordering on, um, I missed Rio training because my alarm didn't go off. Oh, come on, get something new. Hey, is it... Oh, so we're doing it again today? We're back on, mate. No, um... And I think what happened was in the old days in a cricket, there was a paddock over there and they used to hit it over there to the cow corner. Isn't that one particular ground? I just think it was said once and stuck. Yeah. So it's mid-wicket, predominantly. Deep mid-wicket. I'm telling you right now, I don't know the positions in cricket. [LAUGHTER] Really? So I just have to race for people that a lot faster than me. - But you've got cerebral palsy, right? - Yeah. - Yeah, cerebral palsy, does that change? - No. - Nothing exactly right, so what's the story? - Well, yeah, you don't want to get too technical, otherwise it kind of does your head in, but they basically decided, you know, I outtrained my disability. I got so good that I was no longer as disabled as I was three years ago. - What they're saying is you put it on. - Yeah. - Yeah. - You've been putting it on over there. - Let's be serious. - I've been overlooked. - You've been overlooked for Paris. - Yep. What's the-- - Were you swimming, Paulie? - Yeah. - Well, I swim the best I've probably ever swam, including my 100 free cell at Tokyo. So I was really, really happy with it. And I put my hand in the ring and they just chose to go a different direction. And I think it's always a hard one to take. But I think the fact that my own performance was so good, made it a little easier to take. All were always difficult, especially at a Paralympic trials when emotions are high from every swimmer. But we just got to reassess and see if we'll go again. - So there's just no spots left in the team? - There are spots left on the team. They just-- - Can we get you in? - Not to allocate them all. - Can we get you in? - And when you meant they chose not to fill every spot available to Australia, huh? - Yeah, well, they just decided that's all they need to compete. So I'm surplus to requirements. - You're handling a lot better than I am. - We kind of, I've had a month to sit with it, Matt. I haven't been on the team for a month. - Whoa. - That's-- - The day after. - I don't understand that. - I would not like this. - Is that a funding thing, maybe? You don't have the money to send everyone? - I'm sure they wouldn't just chuck money for the sake of chucking money to someone. But I don't think funding was necessarily in mind when they made the decision. I just think they thought that I was gonna be nowhere and so they didn't pull me off the team. I obviously disagree. But you'll never know in the minds of a selector. - I'm gonna take a break. We're gonna take a break. So just to repeat in the news, Ben Popham has known for a month that he's not going to Paris. Yet, swam fitter, swam faster, put you up into a different category. If you didn't have it, you didn't swim enough, led to believe you didn't reach the qualifying standard, but there's still spots for those who are close to get picked. There were six spots and they've only filled four and they've left two not to be filled. We'll take a break and come back and dissect that a little bit more. We're angry. We are Scotty and Gus with Benny Popham in the studio. (upbeat music) Scotty and Gus, Ben Popham in the studio. Don't forget the Paris games open on Saturday morning. We are excited about it. Swimming, of course, as you listen, most medals in the country for the Olympics and that will start July 27 to August 10. Ben Popham, who has been overlooked for, spotted the Para Games Paralympics, which is disappointing. Just in clarification of that, swam two seconds faster than your previous best over the last 18 months, but you're still misqualified by 0.3, but the Paralympic team selection has decided to not fill a couple of spots therefore you've missed out. Is that how we summed it up? - That is perfectly correct. - And they moved you from a category eight to a category nine, making it harder for you to get there. So are they saying that you're less, your cerebral palsy has got better and you are less, just that was not the wrong way, but you've been less disabled than you were last year. - Yeah, yeah, that's exactly what I was saying. So, get a little curly. Like I said, if you think too much about it, you just got to take it for face value and move on. - I can't. - And you've done that bloody well, man. You've got so high or angrier than you are. - He's had a month's in digestive. - Yeah, I know. - All righty. Well, and you're not, you're not there, but you will be there in support of us. - I will be. - Yeah, tell us a bit about the Australian team. You've got high hopes for the Australian so-called able-bodied team that goes across first before the Paralympics. So, paragames, tell us a bit about what your expectations are. - Yeah, I'm really optimistic about this Olympic team. I think it could be a once, this team is generational. As a once in a generation, our girls are potential world record breakers, and they've already got the world records for most of them, and they are in their prime. Most of them are 24, 26, that sort of area. And I reckon we will do some seriously good work over their series. I'm expecting 10 gold medals. - Ooh, the men? - Oh, well, they're good enough. They're good enough to compete. And I think, now, this is something you can quote me on when it goes wrong. But I think we will beat the US of A in the medal tally for the first time since 1956. I think we are that good. The boys can take a couple medals off, and the girls will shore to rack them up, because we're just that good. Our top end is seriously unbeatable on their day. - Wow, it's a big statement there, high hopes, of course. So, when you've got Ariane Tippmus, Emma McKeon, Kayleigh McEwan, and the like, but then you go back through some of the names of the men, no disrespect. Kyle Chalmers jumps off the page. There's not a lot of names you talk about. So, these are swimmers that haven't been to against before a lot of these. So, it is a very much new look team, is it not? - Yep, exactly right. And that's the exciting thing. People will likely not know of Sam Short, who is a sort of a distance freestyler. He is going to seriously storm onto this world stage and take a couple of names. But no one knows him until, you know, the game start. We've got so many names that aren't household names that haven't been doing the rounds and have just recently popped up, and they're ready to kill. They're ready to seriously go and get these US swimmers. - That's exciting. - And it's exciting to be around. - Okay, let's turn yourself into the Paralympics then. How do you think that team going across here? Because it's, again, is an inexperienced team, is it not? But what's your expectation? - Yeah, look, I think the experienced guys will go really, really well, that's for sure. We always go with our experienced names and we always perform. And I think that's one thing that we can hold our heads high. And it'll be interesting to see how these guys go that haven't done a games before, because a lot of these guys haven't been in the circuit for that long. So although sometimes you can get swimmers who is their first games where they've been around the traps for eight or nine years, a lot of these guys are sort of fresh faced one or two years around the circuit. And so you can never really tell if they're going to crumble, I hope not, or if they're just going to perform and back themselves. So it'll be interesting to watch how we go over there in the Paralympics. - You've got some WA swimmers, we pop it up. So let's talk about Iona Anderson, junior world backstroke champion, Kyle Lee, who's a 10k swim. - Yeah, it's unbelievable. - I don't swim in, it's just some tough. - Why would you? - I don't know. I don't know. And Josh, Joshua Young, a short course will champion breaststroke out. - Yeah. - It's a little three of them. So I've got it on good authority that they are performing at their best in the staging camp, and they're ready to seriously have a go. And I think I owner is one that you should look out for because the women's 100 backstroke in Australia is so good that sometimes she gets overlooked. You know, Kayla McEwan, Molly O'Callaghan, but Molly's dropped out, she's not racing the holder back. And so I own a second up. And I think she's a good shot to get in amongst the podium. It could be double for Australia. - Oh, wow. Have you got a media role? - It's just about to ask that. - Have you got a call in there? - A guest, you know, like what do you call those? Analysts, special comments, are you? - Mate, I should. I should be, shouldn't I? - Ben, Ben, Ben, Ben. - Everyone just tells me to shut up. - Ben. - You're quite French, right? - And we'd been, Ben. We could have done all of that for you. Didn't they need to get ahead of yourself, mate? - When in doubt, just text Gossie. He'll sort of go out of it. - How are you with the wheels in motion? He'll just say he's heard it from a source. - Oh, mate. There's hope for you. What are you doing apart from swimming then? - What's life for you? 'Cause we miss you. I mean, you know, you're paneled for us here and we love you and we sort of, you're self-inserted yourself in the show quite often, which we have. - Of course I did. No, I'm actually sleeping a lot more. I'm not getting up in early hours in rain, like this morning. I'm doing communications work at Venice West. - Nice. - Just started this week. Nice little corporate job. - Yeah. - I mean, I'm in the delves of corporate Australia and I'm loving it. I tell you what, it's a lot easier than swimming up and down a pool. - Yeah. - It's just swimming future lay then. But with this disappointment, are you still sort of looking beyond this year, maybe? - Yeah, we'll take a month by month and see how fast-- - Line by line. - Line by line by line. - Strike by stroke. - Exactly right. - Olympics are only over four years, mate. - Yeah. - It's a lot of fun to be able to. - We've got to see how fast everyone goes, Scotty. If everyone just smashes me out of the water, then I would just go, oh, I can't. - Yeah, yeah. - Let's pass you by. - Yeah, so you can't hold on to things for too long, really. Otherwise, it might take my experience with the sport if I go chasing the carrot. - Yeah. - So we'll see. - Is it just Australia that changed the categories or is it-- - No, it's worldwide. - Worldwide they've changed. - Yeah, well, well, I agree. - Yeah, category up. - Yeah, category up. - Yeah, exactly right. - I was in there and, oh, geez. It wasn't at a good time. But now I'm out the back. - Great time. - I'm walking back. - Great time. - Well, mate, you make us smile. You make our audience smile. You will never, ever not be a triple gold medalist. - Yeah. - In those games. - It's got a nice little ring to it, doesn't it? - It does. Now you've got the suffering of not going. Are you gonna watch them soak it up? Will there be a moment of sadness in that time that you think, oh, I could have done that? - Yeah, of course. It'll always be hard. But I think watching the Olympics and especially watch out for Kayla McEwen versus Regan Smith, that'll fire me right up. That'll be so close. - What we should do is getting to do calls of the race before it's actually happened and see how close it gets to them and sort of jazz. Just pop your dramas. Pop your dramas. - You work on that? - Yeah. - All right, mate, we love you. And we thank you for coming in. - You're going to be a buddy, mate. - And you are one of the all time good men that we've met over our journey. - And we will take this up on you over half that one. - Seriously, mate? Get your passport ready. I'll get you on to that buddy plane. - Yeah. - You're gonna have to go on your way. - You're gonna have to go on your way. - Next time. - Benny Poppin, joining us. Paralympic triple gold medalist. He's a star. Scotting us. (upbeat music) (crowd cheering) - Scotting us. Free pass seven. Heading for the top of 18 degrees. And I take you back Scotty to April 20 when the West Coast Eagles defeated Fremantle in the Derby by 37 points. Well, the two teams go out on a Saturday night and Ruben Gymbi is a part of the West Coast Eagles. Ruben, appreciate your time. Good morning. - Good morning Scotting us. How are you guys? - Going okay, mate. Wow. Would you like to wind back the clock to April 22 to find out the secret to success between a pretty lean run over the last seven or eight weeks? - Yeah, it has been. And that was, I mean, feels like it's quite a while ago since we got that wind, but yeah, that was a great feeling. But unfortunately during that period of field, like we were building something like we, I mean, we just been rich and in a bit freer than Pete Melbourne. So it felt like the best was yet to come. But unfortunately, we haven't been able to get a snack to make wind since then, but yeah, really looking forward to this weekend. - Hey, Ruben, when you're an inexperienced young man just in your second season of football and your coach leaves your football club, it's a whole new experience. How did Ruben Jim be cope with that tumultuous time at the football club? The emotion of it, you know, he being your only coach, you had at an AFL level. I'd like to know, get your take on things. - Yeah, it was definitely a weird and interesting feeling. I guess in times like that, where you don't really know how to feel, you go to your senior leaders, but I mean, a lot of those boys pretty much said they've never experienced this either, like a coach leading it season or even a new coach like Simo been there for 14 years. And there's not too many players, maybe except Jackie and Jadea, not too sure one had a different coach one or two years, but yeah, it was an interesting feeling. And yeah, it was just weird. Like obviously, yeah, we really love Simo. I love what he did for the last two years and opportunities give me, but I guess change can be good sometimes. And yeah, he really backs go in as a group and he's done a great job to really just settle the ship over the last two weeks or less at least internally. - I agree, before we get on to a couple of positives and you're going across half back, he's absolutely one of those. But after the weekend, mate, which was horribly disappointing, you know, when you talk to us, we're going to be honest, but it was horribly disappointing. Do you have anyone in your group that says boys, just us, we need a chat or just a locking room, coaches out, that sort of stuff. And some guys to hold people to account for effort and intent during games? Or is it just a matter of, well, no, we'll just listen to everyone. 'Cause it looked to me as if there was a little bereft of leadership out there on the weekend. - Yeah, we have had a few of those, quite a few of those honor sessions this year where it's, yeah, coaches out and just the leaders speak first and then if anyone else has an opinion, can speak up. But I think Oscar's been really good at that year. Since you think back, he's really honest and demanding of us who really like and also the likes of us, the governor isn't out there, but he always sets the tone, sets the tone massively, musically and Tom Barras, those kind of boys. So I think, yeah, definitely wasn't good enough from us for the weekend. Our pressure wasn't there. We got smacked down the contest, so we're definitely looking at the least, but that's definitely not the feeling we're trying to apply. - Half back, mate. Looks like you're enjoying it because as you've provided, it's been great run and it actually does look like you're enjoying footy around there, have you ever played it before? - Yeah, I've played it for two years in under eight years, draft year. So that's probably where I saw myself as a footballer. Yeah, coming into the league, at least starting there, but I think I guess the attributes they thought, yeah, it might be better. If they're looking to the inside, me, which probably hasn't quite clicked from me yet, which I thought, which I'm hoping I'll probably be playing a bit better footy in there this year, but I think I was still developing it there, but just in terms of getting footy in my hands. Like, I guess the defense you started, like, and in the need, they're always kind of naturally tackling and running out of that kind of thing. So it gets sort of a good fit and if you get a defensive thing, why not just go on the back line? - Give your West Coast Eagles faithful hope for Saturday night. Tell us why you can turn around what was probably your worst performance for the year against one of the form teams of the competition in a big stage game, being a derby. - Yeah, massively, we've loved our fan support this year, and I think we've shown definitely what we can do at a home game. I know it's Frios, home game, but we're still, I've shown there'd be a lot of West Coast fans there as well, and West Coast, West and Derby is a different kind of base. You know, that motivation you get, especially playing your cross-town rivals, and obviously they're pretty strong at the moment, so I think that just gives us that another bit of kick to really find that next level, which we know we can do at home, definitely. - Yeah, they're going to be pretty fired up. They were a damn awesome, we saw with our own eyes here against Melbourne. Hard one for you to make, and I know Jared Scofield's got five more games to go, and you don't, well, not after names, but as a young player in your second year, and you're probably the players, the talent doesn't wag the dog in regards to who is the new coach it's going to be, but what sort of coach do you think your team needs? Do you think you need a ready-made, seasoned coach, or do you think you need a development coach, a younger coach, a leading assistant coach? Is it your opinion on who needs to take the reins? - Yeah, that's a great question. - Yeah, I think maybe that development, I mean, obviously you don't want a real new coach. I think we need a bit of experience there still, just 'cause I guess experience is what will help lead our young group. But we still have our awesome player leaders there, and I think a coach has a bit of experience, but also really is behind and really knows what he's getting into coming into West Coast, being a younger developing group, and give it, yeah, we just need a bit of that motivation, a bit of that guidance to hope to get to the next level, which I know a lot of our young players will, and obviously our leaders are awesome players, but it's not a lot because he's probably already. - Well, I hope you like Ken Hinkley, 'cause my man here is just, he declared him yesterday, pretty much a moral-- - I did not stick with him. - You said a moral to be the coach. - You did not say that, bro. - We've also declared three other blokes to be morals beforehand as well, but they haven't come through it, and Ken's a moral. I made, can you give us any sort of update on one on my man, Jakey Waterman, and Liam Duggins, he gone through his-- - He won't play Duggins another week. - Another week, right? And Guff, mainly probably the main couple. - And Joey. - Joey, I forgot Joey. - Yeah, so, obviously, couple weeks ago, last week, Guff made the trip across the Nalgore Big Drive, which is, yeah, great to see him get back, which, I mean, he's as tough as they come, so if you've got broken ribs or a bunch of lung, he'll get through. So, yeah, I think he's training this week, so hopefully he'll get up, which would be really handy. Jakey Waterman just had one week off, and I think he's back again, so, obviously, he's had that cup behind his knee for a while, which is pretty nasty if you let you see her, and I haven't been moving great after that, but, hopefully, yeah, he'll be back this week as well, and, yeah, Duggins do in protocol, so, Duggins won't be back this week, but hopefully he'll be back after. - Yeah, well, true, man. - And Joey, Joey just had soreness, so hopefully he'll get a two-half senior leaders back, which would be great. - Yeah, very much so, for a huge game against three men. If I was Guff, I would just have one more week missing, because there's a guy called Josh Tracey, who plays for the opposition, and he will still roll anyone who's in his way, and I always worry about it. - Oh, I've said to me, his Guff would drive anywhere to get a beer, 'cause he sat in the corner of the box with Timo, and he said, "I'm not missing a free beer." - No, exactly right. I'm getting back for it. - And yesterday, of course, I was motivated. - Yeah, exactly right, and yesterday, the boys got together for Joey, of course, because of the funeral for his dad, Craig, so, well done to everyone at the football club. So, five weeks to go, Robes, personally, what do you want to get out of the next five weeks? And obviously, a win would be nice, and you've still got some opportunities there. But it's just got to be better than last week, and a tackle inside 50 would be handy from anybody. - Yeah, I think personally, I just want to keep building my form. I don't know if that works out, but I think, yeah, just some of my main struggles been able to get footy, but this week, I've got a bit more than what I did, 22, so if you can keep building that, I'll use my running area made this game. And as a team, I think it's just, we really just got to go back to being competitive, which is where it starts at middle of the year. So, yeah, getting that pressure back, getting that contest back, and the appearances that are really strong out. So, until the next five weeks, you can be a super competitive, and that would be Jaggedy wins and do a bit of momentum into next year. - Hey, last one for you, and this is off the text line. One of the listeners is one of the Eagles fans, Matt Eagles fan, can you ask Ruben, what it's like on a plane flight after you get beaten by 12 goals? Who is the first to laugh? Who is the first to try and change the mood? - It was risky that one. - Always risky. - Yeah, one of the, I guess he's a middle-aged player, but you might think he's a bit younger. Jermaine Jones, he's pretty good at that. Like, he sits like the old young boys are down. Bro, 13 or 14, and he'll always come down and shift down there and make a laugh and go see the fans of that. So, he's a great man to have us. He's fine, mate. - Yeah, he is. And this is what I say about a lot of people. Now, a lot of people question, he's spotting the team at times, but he just provides a little bit of spunk about them, you know what I mean? And I think you need those the guys around your football club. And, you know, he might not be in great form, but I do agree that you need some sort of barometer like him. Hey, Ruben, I'd appreciate your time at a Derby, mate. You grew up watching Derby's, you love your Derby's, you've got a chance to redeem yourself against Fremantle and maybe upset their season with a massive upset. Good luck. - Let's start some sort of major rivalry. Who do you hate the most of Fremantle Reven? Just tell us right now. Who's he're gonna kick off? - Ooh, my favorite play was hockey. So, definitely not him, but now I'll just obviously that one. (laughs) - Well played. - Yeah. - Nice, post-match will getcha. Nice work. Good on you, mate. Appreciate you coming on our show. - See you guys, no worries. - And here he is, Ruben, Jimmy. He was good with his time here on Scotty and Goss. Is he gonna make a career as a half-back? Is that where I need to be? - No, I think he goes back into the middle, but at the moment, I think he's playing exceptionally well, and he's probably learning more craft, more AFL craft as well, by playing across half-back and accountability and that sort of thing. It's hard, and with Ruben, he's a ball winner. So, in the middle of the ground, we've said it a few times. When he's in the middle, he sees ball get ball sort of stuff. But then when the ball gets flicked out the side and his man might be off him somewhere, he doesn't have that accountability, he's not the right word, he doesn't have that close checking side of things 'cause he's too busy trying to win the ball himself. So, half-back, I think it's a really good learning curve for him, and I think he's playing great for you there. So, I think he goes back in the midfield though, at some stage. So, you know, comes back. Duggan definitely not. Waterman's back. Gove's line ball. It's a better-looking team very quickly. Does it get better looking team quickly? I see, I shifted. You know how I was bullish about them beating security? - You were very bullish. - Yeah, and then I changed my mind because I wasn't aware, I wasn't aware that they were not gonna have a young Waterman, and take those two out. I mean, that's two of them. I mean, McGovern. You know, Duggan, Waterman, are four of their best six players. - Oh, absolutely. And when I asked him, they looked absolutely with Oscar Allen, your captain, he's down the forward line. I know he did go back at stages, but they would look bereft of leaders out there on the weekend. Someone would say, "Boys, get on my back and I'm coming." And, you know, and come with me sort of stuff. They look bereft. And when you look at that, Waterman, Duggan, McGovern, you know, there's a leadership group. But someone has to step up out the field. They have to have some fight. They have to have some effort. And if you don't get up for a doobie, and you don't bust your backside on it, then I'm talking, chase at every opportunity. You never know when someone's gonna fumble. Just, it might be that, because you've dug in for the early five, six minutes of a chase, they fumble and you catch 'em. A dive over the boot to Smother. Just show some desperation. And the way they go. - For the next five minutes, we're gonna open up the Goss Lotto line, okay? We need people to ring in and give us a margin of the game. A margin. And I don't care who you tip, I just want a margin. Don't you don't need to say Fremantle Boy? Just want a margin. nearest of the pin, nearest of the pin, I will buy a Lotto ticket for them and me to share every Lotto game next week. - Oh, wow. - Goss, what? - So come on, that ain't 1255. - nearest of the pin. - Hammer's gone with 112. - Yep. - You went with 71? - Yep. - You? - I'm gonna stay out of all tipping and metal debates in that this week. - Oh, yes. Yeah. (laughs) For those who don't know, apparently. - Apparently. - Cannot confirm what did I. - My mail is a little birdie tell me, don't tell me you've had to sign some waiver form that says, really? - Yeah, and I signed the rights to my son. - Oh, no. - Are you voting on the metal? Can you confirm that? 'Cause I got mail today from someone else, that someone else is voting on it as well. - Well, there's two other people voting on it. - Yeah, but are you seriously voting? Okay, well, I won't put you under that pressure. 0487736 is the text, but you don't get in Goss Lotto by texting. You're only getting by 131255. Near as to the pin, we'll get a ticket in every draw. - So, the game said that night, so we're talking about a Monday Lotto which is Wednesday, Thursday and the following Saturday. Five tickets shared with me only. Me only. Righty-oh. - What? - Welcome to this man. (upbeat music) - Morning, Jen, Carly. - Going strong, Hal. Give us a hey, been mate. First of all, I feel like I haven't spoken here for a while. Things good? - No, no. I actually got a bit of the manfully serious ailment that is. - No mate, hang in there. Hang in there, buddy. - Okay, I have our thoughts and prayers with you. - Seriously. - And we hope you pull through this horrible time in your life. - Definitely. - Hit us with a number, mate. - That's 39 doctors. - No, don't care about the time, don't care. Do not care, 39, it's good work, Hal. You're in and it's always gonna be doctors 'cause that's what you are. Darryl, in Kingsley, he's called back. G'day, Darryl? - Good morning, 77. (laughing) - I just worked, Darryl. - Ryan, a bags of your growth. - G'day, Ryan. - Okay, boys, we'll go 66. - 66, click, is he, click. - I just, can I just say, can we, can someone if they're tipping the evil state west coast? 'Cause I think all these numbers we're hearing right now, I think we know we're in one's tipping. - It's not gonna be happening, mate. I got no chance. - Mate, you don't know that. - 1312.55? - I have no hope in the first round. - 1312.55, give us a call. Let's go to Mundairing. Gaddy? - 26. - Tighter? - Very measured. - Tighter? - Very measured there. - Thank you very much. - Thank you. - Thank you, thank you. - He's made it off into the distance, 1312.55. 1312.55. - 39, 77, 66 and 26. - There's some of the numbers that we had. - Right, yeah? - All right, 1312.55 is the number we need you to call. Laces in Ellen Brook, lace up. - Morning, gosh, morning, Scotty, two. - Oh. (laughing) - You're actually, that was funny for you. (laughing) That's actually very good for you. - No, you got any of those. You have hope. And I reckon Laces, Eagles, by two points. - Remember, John used to be in... - Greenwood. - And then he went to... - And then he went to... - And then he's drifted between Dinell or Intrude Hill. - Intrude Hill. - Yeah, I think he's Intrude Hill. - Man of the night. - Johnny, good morning. - Morning, Scotty. (laughing) - Margin. - Margin, Johnny. - Do you know what? - Stop it, I'm gonna go to Eagles, even though I know it's probably wrong, but I'll go then by five points. - Okay, I don't care who wins, John. - No, I didn't ask, if you know what to say. - Yeah, I know. - But five points, good, good, good, good. - Who's that? No chance. Let's go to Lathlane. Clint is there. G'day, Clint. - You're almost tested. - Good morning, boys, how are you? - Who Clint gave as a margin, my friend. - One oath for what? (laughing) - Oh, no, I hope not. I hope not, 'cause those games, I lose my way in the box and I'm getting trouble. All right, Clint's got 104. Frosty, good morning, Frosty. - Gentlemen, how are you going? - Mate, we're terrific, great to hear your voice. Give us a margin, please, pal. - 71. - 71, that's still available. (laughing) There's lots of high numbers still available. - Gosh, you started a fire I grew in Adelaide, mate. - Apparently so, Frosty. Apparently so. - Yeah. - They're all talking about it, aren't they? - They are. (laughing) - Mate, I'm telling you right now. I'm telling you right now, Frosty, and you can tell this to me. When a player or ex-player, now, coach, is there only come back, is, oh, we'll look at the source, see how well they don't get it right very often, do they? There's something there. - And you're right. - Well, either that'll just jerk out his hates cost. - Mate, Rashuio, he tried to get me on his show. - Thank you. - Yeah, he tried to get me on as they all did. There's about four or five. - Different networks. - Yeah, that's what I said. I said, really? - We're getting in trouble. - Anyway, thank you Frosty, and thank you for your support, you're a good man. Pete is in Rolling Stone. Pete, good morning. - Good morning, gents. I'm going to go 46. - 46, okay. So there's some with 46, but I'm not gonna have 46 as if that's competitive. Geez, we've been conditioned here. 46, right, Pete? - You're in Tom, morning Tom. - Morning lads. - What do you got for us, mate? - $127, try to see the kick 10. - Oh, oh, wow. - That's right, your record, mate. - Oh, no, that would equal my record, Tom. - All right, just go on. - 11. (laughing) - Oh, there it is. - There's stuff you. - A little drive boy. - Come on, I've only got many things left, Thomas. - You're a good man, Tommy. Thank you, mate. Dave's in Bumbory. Dave's in the morning. - Good morning, Dave, good morning. - What happened this week? - Morning boys. - All right, Dave, that'd be 67. - 57. - 57. - 57. - Yeah, I'm sorry. All right, sorry. That's 10 boys. Thank you. Thank you for calling legend down there in Bumbory. Chris is in Spearwood. Chris, good morning. - It was 54 here, 48. - 48, clean eight goals, clean eight goals. - Hey, listen. - Yeah, okay. - Yeah, listening. - Oh, I was looking at Scotties when he was doing his family trip and you were videoing it. Mate, don't hold the bloody camera too close to him, mate, 'cause you've got a big melon. I hold it a bit bare as well, hey, buddy. - Here we are. I'm loving that. All right, all right. That's as far away as the arms, okay. - Thanks, man. There's Brad Pitt from Spearwood. Give us a call. - Ah, that's fair and honest critique. - Let's go to Scottie who's in Bay's water. G'day, Scottie. - Good morning, Jess. How are we? - Good morning. - Yeah, good morning. - Very good morning. - I couldn't use any of your sporting analogies with the golf ones that you text through, mate. But anyway. - Oh, I'm sure you could. - No, give me in trouble again. Give me a margin for this week. - All right, oh. That would be the last thing I want to happen to you. - Coming, sure, mate. - What number? - Sit on an even 75. Even that's an odd number. - 75 is good. 75 is good. Hey, congratulations to the daughter, mate, hey? Got the-- - Thank you, yeah, thank you very much. - It's a, yes, we've had some great news there. What have I missed? - I'm very happy with that one. - Have you got, got, just give us your, give us the family version of what's taking place. - Oh, we've got some confirmation as to what's happening next year and it's fairly positive. It's probably, we'll go with that for now. - Yeah, nice work. - Nothing's come out formally. - Nice work, mate. Yeah, congratulations. Just a study future. - Oh, beautiful. - So she can carry your old man into retirement. - There's a bit of a pathway there for her and she's had her battles, but she's an absolute star. - True, but-- - Well done. Yeah, and let's go to Troy. Hey, Troy, boy, where are you? Down south? - Barcelona. - Beautiful. - Barcelona. - Yeah, it's an absolutely belting down down there, mate, is it okay now? - Now, she's pretty clean here, but overnight, yeah, a bit of a, yeah, I'm poor, but for sure. - Who you tipping, mate, no, no, who you tipping, what's the margin? - 99. (laughs) - No, I did not. - I don't know what I hope for a close one here this weekend, is it? - All right, thank you. - Troy, can you ask me, we've got to kill the text before, too, just before Goss heads down, you know, down that way ish to Bumbry and-- - Today. - Goss with the trots. - Gully Gubbs racing today. - Are they gonna be washed out? Do you reckon down there or is Goss jumping the car and head down? - Nah, you should be right, I think. If I was clearing up, there's no wind at all, so it should be good. - Ooh, yeah, yeah. - Um, there you go. - No, Troy, you play Travel Scrabble. - Hey, Goss. - Yes, Pletching? - Gossy Bawking. - Don't forget about Friday night, a lot, don't you? - Is there anything, is that the new one? - Yeah. - Yep. - Okay. - So there's six of them. - Yeah, all right, mate, back off. (laughs) - All right, Pletching, thank you. - I have his 99 points. - All righty, there you go. So this is a 39, 77, 66, 26, two and five, you're kidding yourselves. 104, 71, 46, 127, 57, 48, 75 and 99. Fair to say, our listeners have voted. - And I'm also, too, the love for each other in our family of listeners here. - Yeah. - Well, James, he's just for you. He's got your base. We've got on your Scotty, great news. - Yeah. - So strong, mate, so there's, you know, our listeners are looking after each other. - We are one big family. - I love that. - Yeah. Breakfast, power bar, kaboda, taken on any job with kabotas, range of tractors, mowers and utility vehicles. - Now, after 17-- - Oh, I love you, lot. - All of the-- - The ox is gonna join us. - Yeah, beauty. - But before that, after the 7.30 news-- - You rustle your paper anymore. (laughing) Keep going. - It was 'cause I was talking about the power rankings. - Yeah, oh yeah, absolutely not do that. (laughing) - All right, then, there's-- - Gotta be significant chargers. - We'll take a break! (upbeat music) - Time for the power rankings. David Schwartz just around the corner. He's very keen to get on because we've said something about a month ago that he got poo pooed about and we're gonna replay it. - What? - All right, what have you got for us? - The power rankings last week though, at Tracy 10, Merritt 9, Kurno 8, Neil 7, Gordon 6, Patrick Cripps at 5, Chad Warner 4, I was at Henry 3, Marcus Bonapeli 2, and Nick Dacos is one. Josh Tracy stays at number 10. Zach Merritt stays at number nine. Charlie Kurno, who won the game for Carlton on the weekend, stays at number eight. Up here, Neil stays at seven, sorry. Gordon stays at six. This is where things get interesting. - No, we'll be the judge, we'll be the judge of that. - Heaney goes from three to five. - Yep, fair enough. - Warner stays at four. Nick Dacos goes to three. - Yeah, he knew there was a slip gun, because he's not the same guy. - Cripps is a rocker, the two and the font goes to one. - Nice work, all right, go through 10 to one. - Tracy, you're gonna have a big, big end of your year. Merritt, not sure, Kurno, big year. Kurno, Neil, seven. Gordon, 16, he, five, one, a four, all three. You're gonna have a huge impact. Dacos may still have an impact. Late, Cripps, a number two is gonna be huge, and Bonapeli's are on. - Nice work, all righty. Thanks to everyone who's tipped into our Goss Lotto tipping competition as well. We're gonna take a break, gonna come back, and he is champing at the bit, not chomping, champing. Let's have the correct, that's the correct word. Champing at the bit, all right? - Just some other other kids under your skin. - It does, lots of things get under my skin and I'm looking at him right now. - Chomping at the bit, the door to him. The ox is next. - I'll give you 100%, and this is a 98 or 97% Scotty. 100% Dustin Martin will be playing at the Gold Coast next year for a two year contract. - Are we taking that to the bank? - You're taking the bank, just put it in the bank right now and just collect the interest. - Wow. - Richmond's public position in there's nothing to see here. We still hope and expect him to play this week and for the remainder of his contract. I can tell you tonight that there is frustration building internally with how the last few weeks has played with Dustin Martin. Richmond would love for him to play at least one more time and have a farewell game, but it's my belief speaking to people close to Dustin Martin, speaking to multiple people at Richmond today, speaking to people at the Gold Coast Suns today that he won't play at punt road beyond this season. - Wow, I don't want to say here to you first. - June two. - And I remember, I remember all in the kitchen right now. I mean, David Swartz, the ox, he was the man who delivered those magnificent words and ox, just remind me, how did that week go for you after you released that poo poo from all angles? - Scotty, I was in the fetal position for much of it. - I had every journal come at me, like wild dogs, asking for my sources. I said, no, not giving them away. I said, the only two people to know is Scotty and Tim. I told them who I got a problem, but no one else is ever going to find out what is going on. Who made that report? Was that Tommy Morris? - Now, I sent me McClure last night on a pretty classified and that's one of many. Tommy Morris chimed in with it as well and yeah, and Sam Martin. - Yeah. Good McClure, my goodness, right? Thanks, come on, talk about turning up light to the box party, my God. Just, yeah, anyway, so I still think it'll happen. We'll, it looks like it's going to go that way, doesn't it? - Well, that's the way he saw you saying that he has checked out. - But we talk about checking out and we talk about the future and clearly if he's going to play on it, it will be the Gold Coast, you know, that ox, but is he exactly what it could be? It could be a Brennan for Volo Brisbane situation all over again. He goes up there, could dismantle Gold Coast. He's old, he's got a bad back. What's he going to bring? He's not going to, he's not going to bring, what's that, who's that rugby league player, rugby league player who's up there and played up? - Carmichael. - Carmichael, it could be this all over again. If he think, I mean, he's not going to put himself up in the media and become a pin up, boy. Come on, Tim. - No, I'll tell you why I won't be like that because he's got a coach there that he knows and respects and has all the relationship with. So that works. There's a white bear named Mark Evans who knows fully better than anybody. They won't make him, they won't make him be the star of the show. He'll be, he'll be there to put bums on seats. He'll be there as a marketing tool, but they won't be hoping that he plays 25 games. They'll be hoping that he plays might be every home game and if he's okay, he might play a couple more. So, which one will get something for him? Gold Coast will give up something for him. I think it just will win. No one loses in his deal. Everybody wins. I would hope, though, that he's got one more game in him at Richmond so the fans can't say goodbye because we saw what happened in his 300th week, 90-2000 turned up. - Yeah, I was just about to ask you, is he playing on if he's fit? Or do you think he's just going to check out? Because he won't speak, we know that. - No problem with that. - And I know you think he should have a game that would be great. That's how you wrap up a box at Christmas and put a bow on it and go, "Oh, isn't he beautiful?" - He said he's 300, which everyone came and praised him for. - And he's in his mind. - And if it's all about Dusty and he's not giving anything back, what is it on Adamu's own Richmond to go, "Okay, no worries. "You can walk all over us and we'll give you a send-off game." - No, I know, I know, he's been the greatest player that day. - He has been. He has been one off, but simple fact is, all of a sudden they're just going to roll out the red carpet for him and he's not, in the last month, apart from the send-off game, he's giving them nothing. He's taken off on holidays, he's done this, he's not playing, he's not fit, he doesn't do it. - No, we don't know that. You know, on the scene, you might be okay. You know, we're only hearing media speculates. - No, but that's his fault, but he doesn't speak. - No, he's talking to him for a bit. - At least he's being consistent. - Yeah, yeah, all right, so who is the best player you played with that moment? - I think I always say this in a couple of ways. The most skillful player I've ever played with was Alan Jacobicz. - Yeah. - But he wasn't a smartest player. - Right, and then I had a couple of really, you know, a lot of play with Gary Langen, Stimes, you know, Todd Varnie. Yeah, and Russell Robinson, but probably Gazz, I guess. - Yeah, all right, so if Gazz was-- - I mean, he's probably floured by two years, so I would have probably said Robbie, if I had a private team. - Geez, that would have been handy. You want a great man. So if Gazz, if Gazz though was going through this same thing as Dusty, and you're one of his teammates, and he's checked out, there's all speculation about Gazz leaving the Melbourne football club. The Melbourne Great is leaving and could go somewhere else. He seems checked out. Would you, as a teammate, want one more run around with him, or would you say, "Hey, well, if he's checked out, stuff him?" - No, if he's checked out, see a lot of them. - Yeah, right. - As a teammate. - Yep. - Mm-hmm. - And we've come across it many times in, you know, we know when players are checked out. And when players just don't have the heart to go on, all players are chasing a contract somewhere else. All the discussions with other clubs, you're kind of always a little bit of respect. Not respect, you kind of move on pretty quickly and find a replacement for it. - We're talking fully with the Ox, a very popular member of our show. So let's go back to last week's features. We don't want to go over our old ground, but Essendon lost. Collingwood lost. Hang on, Collingwood, Richmond lost. - Carlton won, but your mob Melbourne, we saw first hand over here. I don't want to dance on their grave at all, but what's their future? And where do they turn to as a football club now? Because, you know, they just look fatigued. They look like the cliff came a lot quicker than we thought. Probably didn't come as quick as Collingwood. What's your views on some of these big-name clubs? - Melbourne are interesting. I would, everybody saw that they needed a Ruckman to go into that game. And when you go and recruit a Ruckman, the year before, Fullerton from Brisbane, as a back-up Ruckman. And then you needed the back-up Ruckman to play because you're up against two giants in Jackson and Darcy. And then you make him an emergency. You've just got to be saying, "What the hell are you doing?" And Simon Goodwin has got egg on his face. And he's just a ridiculous non-decision, not to put him in the side. You don't recruit a back-man as a back-up and they're not playing. And then what you do is you put Harrison Petty and Van Ruh on a wrist because you're up against two giants who don't know how to, these two don't know how to Ruck. Every time they go for a contest, you'll open themselves up. If they didn't get broken ribs or punch like a rutchets point, I'd be surprised. It was in all my years of watching Melbourne play, that decision of the play for them could be the most ridiculous decision that Simon Goodwin has to live with. And they're drinking their own bar for Melbourne. They think that this side that they've got can go on and roll sides like Fremantle. And think again, it's never gonna happen. So Simon Goodwin should be embarrassed and don't fluff out these stupid press conferences where it's just part of the plan, part of the pool dust. Pool dust, every supporter, every person in those football pretty well knows that in the last year and a half, there have been decisions made that of course Melbourne games, of course Melbourne weather positions. And there's a time coming where if these decisions keep coming, Simon would have wiped in his position. - Let's turn our attention to, you talked about Fremantle, and we're talking again about Josh Tracy and his dominance as a big man. And he's, we've transformation over the last 18 months into what he's talking about is just a key pillar and one of the starfords of the competition. There's no ceiling to Josh Tracy, Ox. There's no ceiling. I mean, this is East 21, 21 and he's dominating. So he's gonna be exciting in the next couple of years. - Well, you know why? 'Cause he's done a pair of work. You can just tell if this year to last year you can see what he's improved. His speed, his endurance, he's moving better than he is. You can tell a bike that has done a ton of work. And the ton of work shows up in rounds, 15 to round 20, when the game gets really tough. Oh, I thought, I didn't realize it was that quick. I didn't realize, I knew he ran really good leading patterns, but he's clever too, like he's got some real footy now. And they're family, they've found, and if he's willing to work in the off season, unlike a lot of other players, you know, you only have to look at my old club, if you're willing to work in the off season, we're gonna get rewarded during the season and he's getting rewarded. So it's free mental and they support us because of his work ethic. So, yeah, heads off to him, he's gonna be a star. - Gonna grab all my big fans in here. I'm gonna go through the top eight, just yes or no. Are they genuine premiership contenders? Sydney? - Yes. - Carlton? - Oh, yeah. - He goes up. - Yeah, I have to say it. - Yeah, I see, good footings very good. - The question isn't, would you wanna die if they won the flag? - It's all they're genuine contenders, all right? - Yeah, they are genuine, yeah. - Brisbane? - Yes. - Free mental? - No. - Oh, hey, well, get back to that, GWS. - No. - Jelong? - Yes. - Port Adelaide? - No. - Essenin'? - No. (laughing) - This is just for a laugh. I'm gonna keep going though. I wanna, there's a couple more, I wanna mention. Western Bulldogs? - No. - Yes. - Yeah, Melbourne? - No, Hawthorne? - No. - That'll do. - That'll do, so the two there that you've got for me, one, the safe free mental art. I reckon they're in, I reckon they're absolute premiership contenders. Why, why don't you? - I reckon I might be year off. Look, I love the meteor. I love what they're doing up forward. I think we pierce out, it's a bit of a hole, but I still reckon that travel fact. I'm just worried about the travel fact that for free now, it's always been a real issue for them. And if they don't finish in the right position on the weather, and I'm talking top two, or, you know, if they don't get a home final, it's gonna be very, very difficult. - And Joel? - That's the only, that's the only reason. I think we've got a personnel, except for their backline, I think it can be open up, but yeah, they're sneaky. They're probably the 10% chance. - All right, yeah. And the other one's Jelong, you've got faith in Jelong? - Yeah, I do, I do, I always had that game live. They got a lot of things wrong, kind of brilliant didn't play, they got, they just haven't worked at that midfield rotation yet. And I don't think you'll ever see them play that poorly again, but they came up against a red hot board ops like they, they were using a dry footy, and Jelong were using a work footy, it was chalk and cheese. So I don't think Jelong will put in a bad one like that again. - If you can't trust those dogs, if you can't trust it. - They're good. - I agree. - The midfield is so good, so, so good. And Rory Lobb, what is, what Rory Lobb, he's put on a suit and he's got a cape. And it's because he goes, I was sitting, I was sitting behind some board members of the Bulldogs, and I'm not joking, they were nearly falling over when he just kept plucking Mark after Mark, after Mark had taught Jeremy Cameron a new one. They're looking at each other, go, we're family here, we're fed. I think we're more surprised than Rory. I think Rory Lobb is waking up in the morning going, is this a dream, or what's going on here? - He's not surprised, he always knew, he always knew, just no one else did. - Well, he has to place it in our practice show so that he can actually play the game. And he's, I'm telling you, watching him live, he was, he was Roswell Denny, but there was no one coming near him. He was, he was there, I can't believe it. He's the biggest transformation I've applied that I thought was on the scrappy. I don't know if it's saying. - We don't think so, man, we've always been to boys. - Excuse me, David, you're not the only one. I'm sitting opposite of bloke, who has publicly named, shamed, and smashed Rory Lobb from one end of a postcode to another. - It's been a small period of time over about five years. (laughing) - I want to run this by you, I want to run this by you. Have a listen to GWS, and I know you don't think GWS are a contender, this is GWS's last five games. So they've got Melbourne this week at the MCG. - GWS. - They've got Hawthorne in Canberra. - Tough one. - They've got Brisbane at the Gabba. - Oh. - Tough. - They've got Fremantle at home. And they've got, yep, and they've got the Bulldogs in Ballarat. They've got a wretched round home. - Yeah, I've got a chance not to make it. - They don't give them a chance for the grandfather. - No, no, no, you didn't want it. Now I'm saying is. - And that's why I'd see me because I'm. - Oh yeah, of course. - You've got the ball. - No, I'm not sure I might make it do that to you. - I think he just went to his ladders notes and feasted notes. - Zero from five? - No, let me go zero from five. Or maybe, or five from zero, you know, depending on their, they are dead set. 50/50 games all the way through for them. That's tough. - Yeah, yeah, it's really tough on home. Melbourne and Demise went home, I learned. The good thing is if you are going to make a tilt at the finals, you're going to win those games, that you need to win. So the destiny's in their own hands as it is with moments and probably what I think are now done. And so we're narrowing it down a little bit, but it's still, it's a very open season. My goodness. Second to 10th, it's anyone's option on how they perform. - We love you Tuesday tips with the Oxo. People are relying on this to rule a line thread. So here they go. (laughing) - I've got, I've got six last week. That was pretty good in here, not tip Melbourne. - Yeah, yeah, very true. All right, here we can't believe you tip Melbourne to make free mail. All right, here we go. Friday night, Carlton Port Adelaide, Marvell. - Lock it in, lock it around, Carlton. - Oh, they'll upset Josh, car. We don't want to upset him. Right, he's got him covered. Don't worry, I was here for his first, I'll be here for his last. Righty-o, Saturday. North Melbourne, Jollong, Blunston, Hobart. - Yeah, car. I'll tip the cats with no confidence in North Melbourne. They're actually on the match. - Absolutely. - They're the best 17th place time in the history of the game. - Oh, I possibly agree with him. I don't think they finished the game. - The what? - Yeah, they had a massive dip again on the game. - They did. Gold Coast. - And what was this guy? - No, he's not, he needed 20, got 19. (laughing) - He was a simple handball into the corridor instead of taking on two players. - He doesn't bother the Ox, Ox has no interest in that. I'm with you Ox, I'm with you. People who do that, crazy. Righty-o. - Gold Coast, Lions on the Gold Coast. It's home. - Gold Coast for me. - Yeah, that's scary now. - They've had a big couple of games. Brisbane, Oregon, Gold Coast, might get them. - Oh, wow. St. Kilda Essendon at Marvell. - No, who cares? Let's give it to the bombers. The bombers have to win. And I'll say this with all honesty, this is the biggest game for us then in 10 years. - Wow, Melbourne, GWS. - They're being crapped for nine. So this is the biggest game that they've got to deliver because they've had a chance to go second on the letter a couple of times against sides if they should be. If they've got half a ticker, this is the game they must win. - Melbourne, GWS. Nighttime Sanalache at the G. - Yeah, Max Galen will be back. It'll be interesting to see if he takes selection. He doesn't like Rachman. So let's just hit Melbourne. Hopefully he'll decide to put Max Galen in. - It's been some spectacular zingers today. Just slotted into a conversation. - Loving it. - Game of the round, game of the round. The Derby here, Saturday night, Fremantle, this coast. - Well, Fremantle would want to win it. They would want to win it and win it well. That's all I can say. And they should win it and should win it well. - They'll win by 70. - No, they didn't win the first. They were supposed to win the first one by 70. - They'll win this one by 70. - Collinwood Richmond, third. Isn't it joy to read this? - No. - 13th place, 18th. And he ever seen Jiggler a Sunday. - The pyre start there, run. - This would be an upset. Richmond can't win that. So I'll take Collinwood. I still like Collinwood. I still think they're sneaky. You've got to read them off it. There's something about them that, and I won't be flawed, but they just don't give up. They're other than last week. Actually, they've given up the last one. I thought I might talk a bit about it. Collinwood win and they're not doing much. - If they didn't have a happy coach, everyone would be seriously walking all over. - He's not happy internally. - Let me go. - Sydney versus Bullock SCG. Sydney, you'll be shaking. - Yeah, this cracking game, cracking game. Two of the best midfields up against each other. Rory Lobb on five, 30 year favourite. - Yeah, yeah, yeah. - I'll tip Sydney. I'll tip Sydney, close on. They've been costly over the last month. Have they ever? And the last game of the round is in Adelaide. It is the Adelaide crows taking on Hawthorne, everyone's second favourite team. - Yeah, Hawthorne, I've got to stop believing in them now. They're good. I hope the crows win because that'll help Melbourne's chances, but I think Hawthorne might get it done, which is championship world over here because the turnaround from round four to where you are now is astonishing. - Yeah, exactly right. They lost their first five. Thanks to Sonos, multi-room listening, wireless home theatre and more. And that's David Schwartz. He's putting that into his property up there on the border. Experience game-changing sound this season with Sonos. Ox always love our chats. Our listeners are texting in. They love our chats with you. Appreciate your time and we'll do it again soon. - Good work, your boys, folks. - Love him. David Schwartz, the Ox AFL Nation and Melbourne superstar. Scotty and Goss, back to wrap up next.
