Well, Scotty, you can have your rugby league start of origin. Yeah. You can have all the out of Mickey Mouse stuff that goes on around the world. But it is now time to get our teeth into the real one, the open championship at Royal Troon and starts the afternoon out. I believe not after noon, one thirty five out of time. She wouldn't be hitting off early if you would. Yeah, no, no, I'm just OK. I'm happy with one thirty five start and I'll see me through the night. First, does he's off include Minwoo Lee? Of course, he goes about 20 past two out of one. Man who's across it is Paul Gowne, he's an absolute golfing guru and he joins us right now. Hey, Paul, appreciate your time. Are you as excited as we are? No, I am. This is an amazing tournament. Pops up every year. We've got history as Australians. We've got history at this place. You know, we've had six champions there starting with the, you know, the great Peter Thompson and finishing it this time with Cam and Smith. So it's just different to every other event and you just get no sleep this week. Brilliant stuff. Paul Gowne, Fox Sports Golf Expert and the man who was alongside our good mates, Gazy and also Murray. Oh, no, no, no, we don't talk about it on air. We just refuse to talk about watching Murray, you know. Look, we're excited about this. There's just some names that pop up off the page, Paul, that I want to talk about. And when the great stories is Michael Henry, of course, the Kiwi, who last year didn't play, of course, spoke about the battle that he had with Leukemia and he's out there again and he's teeing off today. John Daly still going around. We'll see that. My man. Tiger Woods is still going around. And one I wanted you to give me Jasper Stubbs, who's the Aussie who played at the Masters, the amateur who gets a ticket into this as well, just a remarkable opportunity for a young Aussie golfer as well. So many great stories when it comes to a tournament like this. Yeah, and it'll serve up more story. It'll just get deeper and deeper this event. It seems that it serves up drama during the whole week. Brian Harmon tried his best last week last year to have no drama. He beat the field. He played better than everyone else. But, yeah, going back to Jasper Stubbs, what an experience for this young man. He'll turn pro very, very soon and get out there. But he's rubbing his shoulders with some of the best in the world. And just learning how to play the game, and he's gone from Augusta National where he got to start now to Raw Trune, which is a totally different type of golf that you've got to play. And doing it the biggest stage of all time is just incredible. And I can't wait to see how he goes. He's got a really good game. He hits the ball a long way. He's got a good short game. He's smart. He's a really good caddy on the bag. It's caddy from Frank Novolo, you name it, to some of the best in the world. So I'll be interested to see how he goes. You'll be nervous. But now he's got plenty of game. I expect him to play well. He's not going to win, of course, but he's going to play well. Paul, so when you're a caddy, and you talk about how good a caddy Simon Clark is, and you're caddying for an amateur, you're doing it for nothing? Yeah, well, no, he'll get paid. Simon will get a little bit of cash, but not a lot. And Jasper's friends and family, and people would have put money in for him to get to the Masters. But he won't be charged what he normally charges. Simon's doing a lot of work for Golf Australia with their programs, with all his knowledge about the game of golf and helping the next generation of golfers. So maybe Golf Australia might throw in a little bit of cash, too. I'm interested by that. You just played a long game there, aren't you? You played a long game, saying, hey, I'm always caddy for you, and you're an amateur making nothing. I'm really hoping that you'd turn it out to be something good. Remember me? Yeah, exactly. I'm interested by that. I'm always interested by the bazaar. What sort of urn is it for a caddy? I know they get a percentage if there's a win and stuff like that, and they make the cart and all that. But what sort of urn are some of these caddies getting? Because I saw one where the player and his wife were going through business class, and at the front of the plane, I saw his caddy standing in zoo class going through and heading to check his luggage. Do they sort of have a disconnect from their player until they get to a tournament? Yeah, pretty much they do. It's a good time. You think about it. You spend more time with your caddy than your wife, really. You spend an all day at the golf course and working on your game and all throughout the week. You do split ways. I think I'm the US, too, and now it's been a long time since I've played it, but they're around about $2,000 a week. And the caddy pays for their own accommodation and airfares and stuff like that. You get a percentage like it's for a win that's 10%, and everyone's got different arrangements, but normally top 10, 7%, then 5% for a cut. But you get little gills here and there. If you would Nike or Adidas, you don't get clothes and stuff like that. But the big guys like Tiger and that, I think they just paid straight out. Steve Williams is one of the richest sports people in New Zealand. Wasn't he the highest paid for about 10 years? But wasn't he the highest paid New Zealand sportsman? He didn't even have sportsman. He bet he's a racing team. He's a baggage handler. How about Scotty Sheffler's caddy? This year, he's won six times, 16 events, and I think he's won 24 or $25 million. Wow. He's made over two. I think it's 2.3, they said. So not bad. No, not bad. He did lose $500 because he had to bail out Scotty from Jarlie. He got charged with that. Hey, another one, and I know this is a little bit bizarre, but I'm going to go down the bizarre line. A player that I used to love watching when, especially when he stormed on the same, was the Italian Mateo Manocero, who was going to be the next big thing. He was going to get Sergio Garcia of the world. He was going to be as good as him, and he did storm on as a teenager. Then he sort of lost his way and didn't make the cart, he lost his ticket, he had to go back to Q school and came back. He's playing some heck of golf right on the, he's been a contender in a lot of tournaments over the last couple of months, and he must go here thinking, wow, how the world turns around, because it does turn around. Some guys go on the scrap heap and return, and some guys go on the scrap heap and never return. He's a great story. Yeah, he's another good story, you know, how to turn his game around, because this game can really drive you bonkers, can't it? One minute, you've got it, and then you haven't, and you've just got to look at McElroy. Locky, he hasn't won a major in 10 years, but he's contended pretty much every time, and you know, he fell apart at the US Open at the last major, so for Montezero's to come back, Locky has his credit to himself, but there is those stories that are out there that come back, and you know, we don't see many of the John Daly stories anymore, do we? No. You know, they're all athletes. They're not out drinking and smoking and carrying on, they're all athletes, they're in the team, they're doing all that stuff, I reckon bring that John Daly. No, I agree with the game's poor off with all of this athletes. He's playing. He's in the field somewhere. He's trying to find himself. The greatest sports quote of all time is from John Daly, who says, "You can't pull fat. That's why I'm never injured." That doesn't get injured, John Daly. He's playing with Aaron Roy and Santiago de la Fuente, the amateur, so John Daly's still going around. There's an informed player if you're having a bet, it's Aaron Roy, he's come through the Scottish Open, but in the last month, he's one of the hottest players on the planet, so if you have a little bet, I know he's playing alongside John, there's always a little bit drama next to John, but he's been playing some good golf. Did you mention him last week? I said last week, he was the man who liked you. Oh my God, he had a big week last week, didn't you? He's the double-glover. He's the double-glover. He's the double-glover. He's the double-glover. He's a bit weird, and he has iron covers, which is again really weird. No, no, that's good enough for me to not want to play with him. Two gloves and iron covers, you're out the door, you're not in my group, I'm sorry. And sleeves, always wears the under... Go enjoy yourself with another group, thank you. All the best. Hey, Gary, can you give us your tips on who you think's going to go well, who needs to play well. And if my boy, I still can't say his name, Ludwig Iberg, if he's a chance, because I've been backing him for a little bit now, and I reckon he's due. Got a bit tight around his neck in the Scottish area. Yeah, it did. A little bit tight. That's OK. That's OK. Yeah, they tell me you've got to lose one to win one, but he played exceptionally well last week, but, you know, fell away, that last, you know, sort of, and he got that last round, but he got a bit of bad luck to start, and then he lost his confidence, I guess. So, he's a really, really good player, but I've got a little bit wide this week. Of course, can serve up definitely some drama of some sort. And I've gone along with Ken Young, who's the American, who's a straight hitter. You need to avoid these bunkers. You wait to see some of these bunkers. You know, you get in there, it could take you days to go out. So, I've gone with the American at $67 there, and then, you know, guys like Colin Markar were just, you know, their methodical players, they just hit it up the middle. The weather this week is, the wind's coming from the other direction. Finally, it plays downwind the first six, seven holes, which is pretty easy. That's where you do your scoring, and the back nine, it's, you know, just hang on to be alive, but the wind on the back nine will be sort of playing cross breeze, which is not as hard as playing into the breeze into 11. So, this guy's a big long hitter, but don't, all the Aussies are sort of playing really well. Men were, he's a scrapper. So, this is a top of golf course. If he takes the driver out of his hands and just hits fairway, he's riding, he's chipping and putting this year has been off the charts, so he's a chance, Jason Day, he's just had one of the most consistent years, and then Adam Scott, who was, unfortunately, the second last week, should have won that tournament, a few things didn't go his way down the stretch there, but we're a real chance with Aussies in there. That's for sure. So, I can't wait, go for four o'clock this afternoon, Sydney time, and then we've teamed it up there at 4.17, and can't wait to see his first tee shot. There's a lot of courses there, you can drive well and get in trouble, or you can miss fairways and still be okay, but obviously with the greens in Europe and here at Royal True and they look ridiculously quick, the bunkers, as you said, you get stuck in there for a few hours, is there any part of the game that you can afford to be off on during the open? Or does it have to be a complete package? And you need a bit of luck because there are all these little mounds in the middle of fairway that push you fall into that long rougher into the bunkers, and you could pipe one off the tee that you think, oh, that's just beautiful and get down there and you're stuck under the lip of a bunker, or you're deep into the rough, so you need a bit of luck this week. The greens are a little bit slower. I read that they're only running at 10, so last made the US open at Pinehurst, they're running at four team, which is, that's Royal Melbourne stuff, that's really, really, really quick where this is going to be slowed. So it'll play in the hands of Adam Scott, who's been putting Will this year, and we'll probably the last two years with that putter he's got, and he can be really aggressive with his putts on the green, so this will take, I don't think putting is going to be the big issue here. I think it's just mapping your way around a bit like Tiger Big when you run the open championships 10 or 12 years ago, where he just hit an iron off every tee. So someone like that can possibly sneak up and win this event. Yeah, can't wait, Gaoie, looking forward to it. As you said, it starts early afternoon, our time over here in Perth, 130 in the west. It's going to be just four days of absolute joy to watch this, it's going to be the highs and lows, and I saw someone drop a ball in the rough to say, this is what the rough is like at Royal Trinity, and that ball was gone, it was gone. I saw a couple blade amount of bunkers, and if you hit the wrong part of the green, it's off. It's a true test, it's a true test. Appreciate your time always, and we love your stuff on Fox. Thanks, Bella. Who are you going to do then? I'm going to Manasera, I'm going to stick with my man. He's just in great form, he's in great form. I'm like, yeah, he came young, 51 bucks. Yeah, came young, he got, he got, he got surety during the US Open, which was a bit of war. It's golf, you can get sure. Yeah, but that's not came young, stick, he doesn't normally get you, it's surety. Speaking of surety, we'll go to the break, have a listen to Tiger Woods, when there's a press conference. So good. And Tiger Woods is up there, of course, and the gentleman asked him a question, saying that Colin Montgomery said it, why is Tiger Woods doing this? It might be time to give it away, have a listen. You know, there was comments last week from Colin Montgomery who said, why is he here, he should retire, there's no point to this. Do you feel that's about hopeful and you've earned the right to you make the decision when you decide? Well, as a past champion, I'm exempt from 60. Colin's not, he's not a past champion, so he's not exempt. So he doesn't get the opportunity to make that decision, I do. That's what I mean, you've earned that, you've deserved that. So when I get to, but you had his age, I still like that decision, when he doesn't.
