Thanks to Sonos, experienced some game-changing found this season with Sonos. I look across in the Tokyo Depot studio to an empty seat. I thought it was Ash Brazel this morning. She's got a very sick family and she's been required all hands-on that deck. So Ash, our thoughts are with you and Brooke and the kids at the moment. Hope you recover. No Scottie Cummings because he has predominantly Fridays off. Paul Hazzleby, he filled him briefly. He will be back, but not today. Now Hamish Brazel, he's a small cameos. A lot of bad done. And Adam Simpson didn't pick up this morning when I called him at a pass 4. 0 4 8 7 7 3 6 7 3 6 or 13 12 55 if you want to call this morning. I am flying solo, but Luke Hodge is going to join us after seven o'clock. The Hawthorne Brisbane Champion AFL nation and Channel 7 expert. We'll get some winners with Jesse Dard, of course. We always love Jesse coming on. And Jared Schofield, who has seven weeks in the job as the interim coach of the West Coast Eagles, will also join us your calls and your texts. And thanks to those who have commented, yes, had a brief, if you're awake about 20 minutes ago, had a brief stint on with Kingie and Kane about the week that's been over here in WA. Well, you guys fans, you want to change, you got change. And I'm talking about change at selection. Well, at the moment, they're only in the squad, but Harry Edwards comes in. That's an obvious one for the injured Jeremy McGovern. And then the rest. Luke Edwards, Zane True, Ryan Merrick, and Jai Kully are the other four inclusions. So five in total and Campbell Cessar has lost his spot. At the moment, Luke Edwards, Zane True, Ryan Merrick and Jai Kully are all named on an extended bench. The others on that bench, Tyler Brockman, Jermaine Jones, Jack Darling and Josh Rotham. Got a sneaking suspicion that most of those ins are going to play. And most of those who were in last week that are on the bench could be the ones out. Jack Darling survives, but I think Brockman, Jones and Rotham are going to struggle to hold this spot. What are your thoughts? 13-12-55-0-4-8-7-7-3-6-7-3-6 is the number. It's time to do this. It's Tuesday. Old Lotto. A.K.A. God's Lotto is worth $40 million. That's right, $40 million. Thank you. 13-12-55. Give us a call right now. 13-12-55 is the number. If you want to be in Goss a Lotto, a lot of people saying that who they think should be in the chair across from me today, I'm okay. I'm a big boy. I've done this before. It's on my first row day. You'll hear from Chris Klafunas. You'll hear from Chris. I'm all alone. There's no one here beside me. My problems have all gone. There's no one to deride me. But you've got to have free. Stop singing. 13-12-55-0-4-8-7-7-3-6-7-3-6 is the number. Let's hit the call straight away. Everyone who calls is in our Goss a Lotto, so you get $40 million. That's right. $40 million and you'll be in the cynica. John of Cheward Hill is first cab off the rank. Johnnie, good morning. Good morning, Goss and empty food. You are in the draw. John, as a West Coast Eagles fan, how do you think your football club has handled the week? It was okay. It wasn't the best. I think probably, you know, Don Pike was a bit green in his press conference. Adam held his head high. I think it was time, but maybe last year, they should have made double call on Nisbitt and Simone's sort of just dragging him along. And yet selection, the news through. Harry Edwards, Luke Edwards, ain't true. Ryan Mike Drey, Kully in, chess has been omitted and McGovern's been injured. Give us your thoughts on, as an Eagles fan, are you happy with those changes? Do you want to run a little bit deeper than that? I think I'm happy. Like John Kully last week in the walk, I think he had 25 positions, but he also had seven tackles. So I mean, that's probably that defensive pressure. We're kind of lacking. Yeah, the other Luke Edwards probably, maybe he's one of the ones on the fringes that probably get a show, something otherwise you might not be there next year. Obviously he's ain't true. He's had a contract end of the year, so he's probably got a show saying that in the back end of the season, and Harry Edwards, I mean, he's behind, gov and Barrasse, but I think other clubs might come calling for him given, you know, the tall defenders like that are pretty rare to find. Yeah, I think Harry Edwards, I think you've just made that surety, that big man surety for the situations that we're faced with, because I mean, gov's near the end and the beginning and Harry Edwards was a four, but now gone back. So yeah, good call. So you're in the draw, Johnny, appreciate it. Let's go to Lansdale. Morning, John. Morning, Harlem. $40 million. Congratulations, you're in the draw. That's how we get a big result on Tuesday. Yeah, absolutely. Aren't your boys cranking along nicely? Are you excited about what's ahead for the last seven weeks? Yeah, most definitely are. A little bit nervous about going to Kasey in the walks. Hopefully we can turn up like we didn't win against the Bulldogs, when can we push us into the top four, are we? Yeah, so we can go to home after that. Yeah, we chat with Luke Hodge after seven o'clock. I think he's a believer in free man. I think he's a genuine believer. So, and also what's been the one element out of this whole resurgence? I say resurgence the next stage of free mannels journey to being a force in the competition. What's the one thing, if you were to pluck out of the rusted on Frito fan, what's the one part that's excited you and pleased you as a loyal free mannel supporter? I think the way they play as a team, you know, pretty excited. We want their teammates to find good. They always help each other up off the ground. It's like to stand out for me. Yeah, very true. Good on you, Harlan. You're in the draw. So, anyone who calls 131255 is in our draw for Goss Lotto on Tuesday. $40 million. It's head down to Palmyra, probably doing the hard yards along Canning Highway. So, please, on each highway, please be careful for this man, Mike of Palmyra. Good morning. Hey, Goss, how are you, mate? Where are you, Mike? I'm Canning Hall, am I? I just stuck down one of the side roads just to make it easier to hear, mate. Good stuff. There you go. Hey, Mike, free mannel fan. And, you know, you've been a believer, and then you've been off for a brief time. And I think you're very much rusted on, to be honest with you. Are you excited about the next seven weeks and finals as well? Do you think this is genuinely your year, or are you trying to be a little bit more tempered and patient? I'd say one game at a time, mate. We have to get past this over the hawks of this weekend. So, that'd be a hard game. Are you in any tipping competitions? Yeah. I mean, they have five or six of them. Do you tip three every week? Or do you chop and change? No, every week, Mike. Do you really? Yep. Nice work. Nice work. All righty. You're in the draw, great man. And keep this in, because I do have some spare time for Friday funny. So, I'll throw one up for you, man. I know you love them. Also, mate, enjoy a weekend. Thank you, YouTube. There's Mike of Palmyra. Let's go to Ellen Brook, Lisa's there. Been a pretty tumultuous week for the West Coast. Lisa, how are you getting up? Yeah, it has been very tumultuous. You know, a change had to be done, but very emotional. Very emotional week. Anyway, Simma held himself up very well. So, yeah, there's got some young ones coming in. We'll just have to see what happens. But after the guys played last week, just a quick one on Jermaine Jones. He still did like a statue, you know, and didn't even want to put his arms up or trying to put the bloke off from scoring. And I thought that was an absolute disgrace by that young man. Really? Do you think it really was? That's sort of Jermaine Jones. For those who know Jermaine Jones, that's the sort of difference that he brings to the club. Jermaine Jones is incredibly effervescent amongst the group. He's quirky. He's the first one to get around a teammate. I saw that. And if that has been a death knock for him now, then I think we're in a pretty sad state. I mean, he was standing there to try and put him off to try something different. The guy wasn't going to kick it. I mean, Jermaine Jones is 4.8. It's not like the bloke was going to kick it into the man on the mark. I just think we've made too much of that. But you're a fan and you're entitled to your opinion. I don't think it was a disgrace. I think that's a bit harsh. But good on your lace. You're in the draw. Anyway, that's more important for you. $40 million next week. Let's go to Scotty of Scarborough. He's always got plenty to say. I look across Scotty. One day, Scotty, I can see you in the hot seat. I reckon there's a little cameo coming for you one day. Oh, I reckon we'd have a great time. I'll say you were very good this morning on K&O show. Everybody should have a gift to get the chance. Hey, listen, I'll agree with you. I quite like Jermaine. I think he's quite good. But sometimes, if you had to move too much and give away 50, the kid would have got bagged as well. But at the end of the day, some people just do something different. You know what I mean? It just stands still. Yeah. I've also got a question for you. I've got an answer for you. I know you always have one. I love your answer. So the coin toss happens at the game West Coast Brisbane. See, mate, does it cost? All the players run across to the race and give him a guard of honor as he walks off. Is that going to happen? No. No. I don't know. I'm confident. Yeah. No, I'm not. I'm not confident. You always, I know you've got good context. So I'd like to. Yeah, ask me a question. I wonder if they could do it before the toss. They could do. But maybe, you know, as the two captains are there, both teams will make their way across to the race and off you go. Well, they could give him a guard of honor to the toss. They could do. But I will say that he's handled himself very well and I like his, I like his press conference the other day and five of his comments were really good. Yeah, I agree. Good. You're in the, yeah, go Scotty. Enjoy your day. Got you two legend. Good on you. There's Scotty from Scarborough. 13, 12, 55, 0, 4, 8, 7, 3, 6, 7, 3, 6, shine. Good morning. Oh, good morning, Goss. Um, couple questions for you, buddy. Um, I'm reading the 40 tips. Yeah. Brio or Orks. Brio. And the second question, the way you are, I was leading that way. And the second question is, Mike, I heard you on the radio this morning, you seem to think that Dean Cox is a front runner. How soon do you go? I need to get it pointed. Yeah. I want to thought that you move quickly. Yeah, they're going to move quick because they've got to, they can't because they're out of the finals. They can't wait four or five weeks for the finals to finish and then go, Oh, by the way, let's start to shake the tree and move forward for next year with a new coach. Biggest issue for them and Dean and Sydney is that he is the senior assistant and he has a major role in their campaign. It could work against him. If Dean Cox or his people tell the West Coast Eagles, I am not talking about coming or being involved in the interview process until Sydney's season is over. Then West Coast might say, you had your chance. Yeah, but you'd think surely, um, Don Pike would have done these two diligence before you've made. No doubt. No doubt. No doubt. Yeah. Well, I wouldn't want you to say that he'd probably finish up Sydney and come over earlier. Just my opinion. You know, hang up as you finish up now or finish up, you know, after the maybe three, four weeks time after they've done the whole process. I reckon a couple. Yeah. Princess pedals down a bit. I reckon a, a smart, a smart decision would be to finish up. Get over here. Yeah. Reassess, calculate what you've got to do. Yep. And move on. A quadrio. Exactly right. A quadrio. Yes. Can I ask him, can I ask you about your horse's massive improvement from two starts ago to last up? Yeah. Well, he found five. We gave a race, badly. And so we backed the pair of earplugs on him, and we couldn't believe he was a 45-5. Oh, I did. You know what it's like, Gosh, you've got to grab the wind when you grab it. I was trying to track you down at the charts a couple of times down there with Goggins, but all the very best congratulations on the win. We'll track out the track soon. Thank you. Got on your way. Yeah, got on your way. There is Shane, who's a harness racing trainer, and has a nice horse called Goggins. And two starts ago went around very short price favorite, and went like a busted house. And then the next start came out and won like its far lap. So we're on to Shane, and everyone involved. Anyway, plenty of calls. Ben says, "I think Scofield doesn't rate Chessa." It's hard to say. I mean, I think, regardless of whether it's Adam Simpson, Darren Scofield or Andy Pandy, it wouldn't have mattered. I think Campbell Chessa was going to be omitted. I think Campbell's form has been pretty ordinary. Let's get a break away and come back. It's 18 passings. Anyone who calls 131255. That's right. 131255, you're in the draw for this. 40 million dollars this Tuesday. Give us a call. 131255 is the number. Luke Hodge after seven o'clock and Jared Scofield will join us. We'll get the tips out of our man, of course, Jesse Dart. And we'll have a Friday, funny annual calls and your text. Chris Plofunus with a sports update. All that more is still to come. This is Scotty and Goss with no ash brassel, no poor hazelby, no homage brochure, no Scott Cummings. It's just me, but how good does it sound? 23, make that 24 pass. 6, 8.8 degrees heading for drop of 19. Don't forget Sunday, shower of two 19 degrees. My brother to the footy and his wife to the footy on Sunday. They're Eagles fans who live in Brisbane. They come across to set it up to study them for the first time and enjoy that. It'll be freezing cold, Tony. So make sure you bring a jumper. Scotty from Bayeswater. You'll be excited about Hawthorne taking on Fremantle in Tazzy, I'm sure. Scotty, appreciate your time. Good morning. Good morning, Goss here. Looking forward to it. Hopefully we can redeem ourselves a little bit from the slow start of last week. Yes, you're in the draw for the 40 million dollars on Tuesday for Goss a lot. Where else is on your mind this morning? What else is on my mind? Scotty from Scarborough rejected the Scotty role. I'm thinking maybe I'll throw my application in and see where we'd go with that. I've got no contacts, no experience, but sometimes I've been told I can dribble some garbage, be in a sales tight role. And your bring coffee might be suitable. It might come cheaper than Mr Cummings as well. You bring coffee. There's a lot of Scotty's at the top of the tree. Appreciate it. Good on your mate. Yeah, Scotty putting his hat in the ring to be in the empty seat. Of course, 131250487736. Is the number always good to have a man Scotty from Bayeswater? Well, Mike of Palmyra and a couple of others. That's sort of what has been a pretty taxing week for everybody, of course, in town. So I've decided to lighten things up on a Friday. I've got a couple of dad jokes, but what we'll do first is we'll do our regular segment right on time because we'll stay on track this morning on this day. Birthdays, events, and some of the great moments in history. It's on this day. That it is, and we'll get to the jokes in a moment. And on this day, thanks to Barra and O'Day because the little things are everything. Happy Birthday. Celebrating a birthday. July 12th. In 1943, Christine McVee was born. On a Fleetwood Mac, of course, she passed away in 2022. 76 today, Australian Blues vocalist Matt Taylor. Well, I remember when I was young the world had just begun and I was happy. I used to wonder about the earth and how it moved around the sun, so snappy. American singer Walter Egan is 76 today. He had one hit in 1978. Magnet and Steel. Oh, you are a magnet and I am Steel. Probably not surprising. I had the one hit before he was young. Hi, Richard. Hi, Richard Simmons is 76 today. I remember Richard Simmons. He was the a pretty sure we've got a bit of Richard Simmons somewhere around the hotkey somewhere. Pretty sure he survives anywhere. He's the US fitness trainer. Remember him? He used to sweat it out on TV. Eric Carr, he passed away in 1991. He was born on this day 1950. Remember him as drummer at four? He replaced Peter Chris. He left the group in 1980. 72 today, Jamaican born singer and part of Boney M. Liz Mitchell. A couple of footy birthdays. We'll just rattle through these. 49 today, Luke Darcy had a birthday at a Luke born in South Australia. Shane Wode and our very own Woey. 48 today, his boy Taj doing great things for Melbourne. Of course, Brownlow Middleist, Melbourne and Collingwood. He was one of my guests in the inspiring sports stories a couple of weeks ago. And 360 is 38 today. When my grandpa passed away, I remember saying why on these last days that I'm hoping it's a heaven. I want to meet a kid and I never met anybody as positive as him. Not many were as sick as him, but he didn't let the illness kill his grin. And that's why I went ahead and ate my skin because I remember a smile when I think of him. Birthday is celebrating a birthday today. It is July 12, just a couple of little side lights. The paper bag manufacturing machine was painted on this day in 1859 and the beautiful voice of Minnie Ripperton. She died at the age of 31 on this day in 1979. If you don't know Minnie Ripperton, you don't know music. She had an absolute banger called Love and You. She had the highest pitch voice. She was a beautiful singer and we'll try and get some Minnie Ripperton up on the other side of the 630 News. But as requested by Mike, Friday funny, maybe even two today, just to light things up. And don't forget, on this day is brought to you by Barra and I don't miss out on the little moments because the little things are everything is a couple for you to make a deal. I hope if you drive a Subaru in reverse, what are you? You're a bus. Did you get it? Subaru's belt backwards is you're a bus. Okay, an audio. Wow. Okay, pretty hard to please some people. Please some people, not all the time. Last one for you. Don't take it. Don't patronize me with your patronizing clap tube locs. And I'll ask one before we get our 630 News and a sports update and a whole lot more still to come. We'll get some tips for Jesse Dart. We've got Luke Hodge. We've got Jared Scofield. Sometimes I wake up grumpy. But other times I just let her sleep in. Hey, hey, hey. Thank you. Scotty and Goss, not here today. Pro old ashes. The family's gone down with the lergie. Grab 24 chicken, McNuggets for $9.95. Get more for your money at Macca's. Here's Mini Rivetton. Use this next. Do do do do. No one else can make me feel the colors that you bring. Stay with me while we grow old and we will live each day in springtime. His love in you has made my life so beautiful. And every day of my life is filled with love in you. Love in you. I see you're so come shining through. And every time that we... Good morning. How are we going? Yeah, good. It's good on my own. It's great. It's the best show as best it's ever been. I don't say that. We want ash. We want ash. We do actually. How she's awesome. The feedback has been unreal. This is cool. Yeah. They wish you well and broke the kids a pretty damn cook. Yes. Yep. We've got that message late last night, really this morning in fact. And the lergie gets you. Absolutely. They're all down. They've copped it. So yeah, our thoughts go out to them. Hopefully, touch with quick coverage. She's a professional sports operator too. So she can't be dragging the sickness into the football club. No. Three-minute locker. Exactly right. I just want to recover soon. Because the non-playing captain will get really upset. She'll absolutely cover it. The West Coast Eagles named a playing captain. They did. Yeah. Emma Swanson, same one. So everyone on the air capital and sea groups playing. That's a good sign. Well, it's a very good sign. Very good sign for the West Coast Eagles. Who do you think is going to finish higher this season in the AFLW? Doc is... Well, you've got to go three-mile because they've got the runs on the board. But I think the other mob are going to get better. I think Daisy's leadership will be better. I think the young girls will be better. Yeah, long. Absolutely. Long ball. The list has improved a lot. Yeah, very much so. Very much. They've made some hard decisions with list management. But yeah, they're improving. But you have to say three-minute with the history. Yeah. Absolutely. I have got some news that came through overnight, of course, or last night. It's the afternoon. Brad Shepard. You've had three goes at it when you're going to come through a few days ago. Brad Shepard is suing his former club, the West Coast Eagles. The AFL as well as two doctors of claims of medical negligence in a writ filed in the WA Supreme Court. Shepard alleges that injuries suffered during his career resulted from the negligence of the AFL and the Eagles. He's seeking damages and costs from the defendants. Now, we heard about the start of this back in September last year, September 5th, actually, to be exact last year. Brad Shepard being forced to quit his job for Broom Toyota due to being too unwell to sit inside. And at a computer, it's been ongoing. And he quit a couple of weeks ago. There is talk that he will enter sort of, you know, have a job but more outside. But he's really, really struggling in the AFL Plaza Association. My mail is that they're really struggling to get this over the line, whichever way it is for guys who have been forced to retire. So that was you, breaking the story, 5th of September last year. And it's obviously taken a little while and bubbled along this way. Did you have anything to do you think with his relationship with Adam Simpson? Is that maybe why it's now come to a head? No, no, this has been two years in the making. I was talking to someone yesterday about this. And Shepard and I have had contact over a period of time. He's gone a little bit more quiet in recent times. But he's working for the Clontarf Academy and he's very much outside. When he's outside, he's feeling okay. It's the concentration levels and sitting in front of screens and stuff and watching television stuff makes it a bit hard. And he's just one of many, I think. This is just a normal, he just wants some compensation for what is how his career ended up. He was receiving. And again, I don't want to speak out of line here. And this certainly hasn't come from anyone close to the action. I'm pretty sure he was receiving form match payments and full insurance cover, injury coverage. And then it stopped. Yes, I do recall that story. It stopped. I think basically once the ball got rolling for legal action, I think the club thought, well, why would we keep paying? If we're going to be paying out a big sum. And they fell down the track. So I think that's happened with a couple of players around, not just the West Coast Eagles, but around the trap. Yeah, I certainly don't think Shepard has had a massive falling out with the West Coast Eagles. He's a big part of that football club and was given a wonderful send off. And he's still got lots of mates there. But I suppose he's just looking after Brad Shepard and I think that's important. It's sad when long-term employees, either club doctors get named personally for this. And it's a big mark on their name. I'm not saying it's a slight on their name because they're innocent to prove and guilty in regards to their actions. And that'll all come out in the wash, I'm sure. But yeah, you don't want to see it. And I suppose the timing of it. But it was on the court list, so it's public knowledge. That would not necessarily even be him specifically doing that as his lawyers and legal advice. It's been seeing in there and all the ducks have lined up. And then that goes onto the court list. And the court list becomes public. And then all of a sudden it comes out. The back of what has been a pretty tumultuous week for the football club, so not ideal. But watch this space, of course. What do we got coming up to? We've got Hodgey. Hodgey's coming up. Sports update, you'll be out here. And Jared Scowy from Scowy, Ooby-Dooby. He's going to get on the phones and talk about, I'll just reminisce about the Seavy days. He's three flags. He's going to do a press conference today. So he's going to be interesting to see how he conducts himself. He gets a little bit. I love him. There's an error of confidence about Scowy. I've known Scowy for a long, long, long, long, long time. In fact, Scowy replaced me as a Seavy cult coach. Oh, he was very good. Bad blood? No, no. I left. AKA Simpson leaving him replacing. He's the king of the replacements. He's the king of replacements. But I'm going to put it on him. I don't care what he says. I don't care. I know he's focusing on this week in Brisbane on Sunday. But I have said this all along. The Jared Scowyfield coached Liam Baker. Yeah. And Liam Baker and Jared Scowyfield, the reason why Jared and the Liam Baker came to Subiaco and not West Perth. He was living, I think, in Mandra or working in Mandra. And he didn't want to trek all the way up to Junealup. So Scowy said, "Well, drop halfway and come to the lead of a oval." He stopped and played and played in the Grand Final. It was a very good play and got drafted through being good for Subiaco. Yeah. Built a great relationship with them at the time, didn't he? Now, so Scowy's seven weeks. Not saying Scowy's going to get the job full-time, but I would imagine Scowy will stay on in the coaching staff. And I think that might be a bit... And it would have had the ring for the job as well, you could imagine. That might be a bit of a circuit or a game changer for where Liam Baker decides he will just continue his football because one would imagine he's going to come back and he has a choice, whether it be Fremen or West Coast and maybe the Jared Scowyfield Alliance. So those little factors always come into play when a player is choosing a club. The relationships, the existing relationships they've already got with staff and players at club. So that could be a big one, absolutely. Especially if he does stay on the coaching staff, as you say. I'm interested for you to ask him about his KPIs in the next seven weeks. What's he going to do? Is he going to just play the youngsters and play the kids as the fans have been crying out for? Is he going to like maybe go a bit more experienced? I mean, the squad we've seen for this weekend looks like maybe going towards the youth, but is he going to maybe play the more experienced guys and just really try and win games and get a good record next to his name towards the end of the season? Yeah, checking on the egg stuff at the moment with this, did Adam since departure lead to the selection changes? Or were the selection changes coming anyway? Yeah, another question will last Scowy. That's coming up after 7.30 if you've got any other questions for Scowy, 0487736736 or 131255. You've just tuned in. Harry Edwards, Luke Edwards, Zane, Drew Ryan, Maric and Jai Kully are the ins for the Eagles. McGovern still driving across the Nalibor. He was in Cockle Biddy yesterday when I messaged him and Campbell chess has been admittedly in Ryan plays his 100th game. Dara Joyce, Devon Robinson, which is an interesting one for Brisbane. Jackson Pride, Darcy, Fort and Shadow Brain, the best name in football, and Jack Payne is injured six weeks and Brandon Stassovich also has concussion. A break, Jesse Dart, get your pen and paper ready. The tipping junior ass is going to join us with his tips for Belmont. 8.7 degrees, heading for a top of 19. Time to get our tips from the, well, his infrared form and so is his footy team. So he's up and about and now a talk of Jesse Dart because he's got nine races to pick from for Belmont tomorrow, Saturday, July 13. Jesse, appreciate your time. Free man away, mate. You must be getting nervous now, Jesse. You must be getting nervous. Morning, Gus. Yeah, I'm starting to say that playing Hawthorne and Tasmania, regardless of a lot of positions, always makes me nervous. But when you're, you're looking down the table and you see the host of teams trying to core at you and you realise, well, I don't think we played terms with that. Well, you started to get really worried about what would be a random game in July. Yeah, very true. And tomorrow at Belmont, race five is a special one. The Craig Yoe Memorial Handicap, of course, named after Craig Yoe, late father of Elliot Yoe. He's a great racing man, was involved in horses. He had horses, I think, with Hayes, actually, and although a lot of the female lockers, boy, so our thoughts are out there on a special day at Belmont. All righty, give us three of your best. Starting in race four, Gus, with a younger last Willie Pike riding for Grant and Lower Williams, both runs his preparation have been excellent. She won first up over a thousand and was beaten by Triple J, second up who she takes on again here. I think Triple J peaked on that day. I think you really showed that he's a good 1200-meter horse, but younger last always been a 400-meter plus man. She's always a lot of cyber horse that will relish these type of conditions, so relatively small field. From the barrier, I expect to see Pike keep her fairly handy in this field, and look, she's got a better class about it. It could be a good race, but between her Triple J and also two Dottie, it should be a pretty good 78-plus, just out of that. I think you're going to have to come out on top. Race four, number two, younger last W Pike. Where do we go next? Race six, number one, sentimental hero. I don't know about anyone else, but this really caught me by surprise last night, the way it won under Chris Parnot, absolutely bolted in in a 72-plus. The same quality of field, it races against here. Does lose Chris Parnot, just with the 60 kilos. They've gone for the claim in Braden Garth. The way he won last start, it was a pretty strong win, and I don't necessarily think this field is particularly better than what he beat there. Looking at him, looking at his progression, I think this is the type of horse that can win these winter 72-plus, and just keep collecting them. It's probably his last crack though, given he's already allocated 60, so hopefully you can get the job done here. I think this is a nice race for him. All righty, so that is race six, number one, sentimental hero, Belmont specialist. And your last one for Saturday, Belmont tomorrow. Jumping into the feature of both my mistakes or the winter bottom of the winter, as I like to call it, and we're going with Man Crush. I really like this horse for Luke Ferney, and Chris Parnot, he takes the ride here. I don't think he's ridden his Gilding previously, certainly not in recent times, but he's taking on the ride here on the Saturday after this preparation. Comes in fresh. Last time he came in, fresh over 1,000 meters, he narrowly was touched off by Snowdon over 1,000 meters. If Snowdon was here, I think he'd be winning this race. Man Crush has always been that tough, on-speed, pressure-machine sprinting Gilding. Lots of positive connotations there for this race. I like him. I think he's got plenty of class, and in this field with the likes of Paulie running them a lot of the genuine speed base as well, I think he can get the job done here. All righty, so that's race eight, number four, Man Crush. The numbers for Jesse Dutton, you'll see this on our socials. You can follow the real Jesse Dutton on socials as well. Race four, number two, younger, less. Race six, number one, sentimental hero. Race eight, number four, Man Crush. The numbers are 42, 61, 84. Jesse, appreciate your time. Good luck, and good luck to free on the weekend. Thanks, Adam. We've got fingers crossed. Jesse Edatt will post him up on our socials, and also his as well. Man, I dig up, stupid. Before you dig, a lot of free inquiry online. Who am I having a dig at? Well, look, it's an interesting one. I don't really want to have a dig at Kane and Kingie, because I've had them, I've had given them airtime today, and I've made them, I've boosted up their show, they were clearly looking for content, and they probably hadn't prepped their show. But I want to go back to Kaneie, talking all about Dean Cox on SCM Breakfast this morning. Have you listened to Kaneie and Dean Cox being next man off the cab off the rank for the coach of the Eagles? Coaches win their premiership in the first five years of coaching. It's been the case since 1990, since we've become the greater competition, the AFL competition. All coaches, I think it's something like 95% of coaches have won a flag, have won one in their first five years. Some of them repeat, and some of them go to other clubs and go again, and have success again, such as Lee Matthews and the like. We've done this discussion before, so I'm all for the new guy. I don't think you necessarily have to have someone come in, who's coached before, just to pluck names, like Nathan Buckley going to West Coast. Is that going to be what they need? I mean, has he had his window first up? Do you get a fresh opportunity with the new club? Of course you do, but I would be all for the Dean Cox type scenario. You've had this guy in the system for a long time, he's been in a strong club, he understands what success looks like, what you have to build. This club's evolved significantly, Sydney's won over the last five years. They've become a powerhouse quickly, and everyone says, "Ah, it's because of the academies. That's way too flippant." It's setting up your club from the absolute foundation. I think he'd be a great acquisition. I'm all for the first time. So there it is there, and then, well, Kane just turned straight around and had this response. I don't know the right answer to this, because there's been ones that have been really successful. To your point, there's been a lot of first times that haven't been successful, and I guess first time is at West Coast with what you're walking into. I mean, it's going to be a tough gig that even the academies are aware of where they're at, and Adam Simpson was being pretty strong on that over the last 12, 24 months, probably of how long this is going to take. So I just can't see a first-time coach walking in there and winning it in the first five years with where they at least is at, just the lack of big employers that they've had. The rebuild should have started two years ago, and so they've delayed that process, which you walk in there and you're up against it. My dig is in both those gems. The rebuild started last year. It has started. The Harley reed was a significant move. The retirement of a couple of senior players, it's going to be a brutal rebuild. But to say that the rebuild is two years behind time is incorrect. They are certainly in rebuild phase. That's why they're probably where they are on the ladder right now. So I don't totally agree with the two boys, but we'll find out. The proof will be in the pudding. Don't dig blind. Search before you dig online every time. Byda.com.au. If you have a dig or a suggestion for a dig, please don't hesitate to give us a call. After seven o'clock, Luke Hodge is going to join me big weekend for the teams he used to play for. Welcome back to breakfast. Tim Gossage in the chair solo today. Thanks to Sonos Experience game-changing sound this season with Sonos. Been a big week in football in WA, and one man who sort of entered the fray a little bit in almost calling out the West Coast Eagles playing group, those who were upset with Adam Simpson. It's Luke Hodge, but we won't just talk about that. We also want to talk about the fact is that two teams he played for, Hawthorne and Brisbane are both in action against our WA teams. In fact, the West Coast Eagles and Free Metal Football Club. AFL Nation star and also, of course, seven footy expert. Hodge, you appreciate your time on a Friday morning. No problems, Tim. Thanks, haven't you? It's been a big week over in Western Australia. What's your first thoughts on the departure of Adam Simpson, the way it was handled, and just backing over your comments that you were pretty disappointed with some of the messaging that was coming out of WA in regards to disgruntled players? It was more the fact that as soon as you have, and from all of us, we'll see your players, I haven't seen the names that have been coming out. But as soon as there's text messages go around, you always know that text messages are going to come out. So if there's people that are going behind their back end and sending messages about Sima that they don't have trust in, as a leader of that football club, you should be going and bringing up with Sima. You should be having conversations about his game style, about anything else, rather than sending text messages. That's where I was pretty much going out. I can understand there's frustrations in football clubs. And look, normally, if you've been down for a few years, I totally understand the lines when I go to the same, when I go to the whole film, we miss finals for the first few years. There's angst amongst players, because everyone wants to play finals, and I know West Coast have a rich history, and they understand it. If they go finals with nothing over there, they're so passionate, but I just felt that there's better ways to go about it. And if there are senior players that are pointing the fingers, I know Sima's not the right man to take his forward, I'd be making sure that you've done everything you possibly can, as a player, as a leader, to make sure you're held up your part of the bargain for the West Coast Eagles. So it's both the coaching staff, but it's also the players that have probably made me be held accountable. I understand also that football's a business. I understand that the reasons why they made the decision on Sima, I think, when you pen games, since the buy in around 2021, and we all know the expectations from West Coast, they have had a very successful history, and they want to get back up the top. So I understand why they've made the decision, but at the same time, there's always tougher for the coach and the family. He handled himself extremely well, and has since he will be making a brief appearance on Sunday to say goodbye to the fans. So he leaves probably free up in his headspace with his family and where to now. You know him. Where do you think he'll end up, or do you? He's certainly making noises that he doesn't want to be lost to football. So envisage that would mean going to another club in some type of role. Do you think he could be a senior coach again? And which sort of club are you prepared to say could use an Adam Simpson for the moment, as a senior assistant coach? So first of all, Gumbock, what you said, he handled himself extremely well. I think what he went through towards in the last year, where it could have been a similar situation, the board backed in last year. So he probably realized that if there wasn't massive improvement, that this might be what might be coming his way. So you spot on how he handled himself. He tried to make a couple jokes in the press conference, which sort of come out a little bit awkward, whether he was serious or not. I thought it was really good. As far as you know what his movements are, that's probably more for him would be getting. He won't be lost for football. He's too smart. I was lucky enough to have him as I was when I was captain at Hawthorne. He was our coach. He was one of our coaches. And the experience of the game made the leadership advice. Looking at things in a different perspective, was always great from Simone, but whether he's a head coach or not, a lot of coaches do come back into that senior role, whether it's a GM, 49er, all that kind of stuff. That could be where he angles. Coach, he said all the decisions you have to make and get a lot of experience from managing people, and that's what you made it as you go. Yeah, very true. So in regards to the West Coast Eagles, I mean, all the noise has been about Dean Cox one and then as a sort of a level playing field behind that, from an outsider looking in without sort of deep diving too far-hodgy, because you know, you are not in Western Australia, but from your observation of the playing group and where they're at on field and a little bit off field, what sort of coach is needed at West Coast? And do you subscribe to the theory that maybe a senior coach is needed to take this group through? Or do you think it's now time to get a development coach, i.e. Dean Cox or Jamie Graham from Fremantle and/or of course, Ash Hanson? I guess the way there's only coaches that are coming through and I guess all clubs are different with what they need. What West Coast do need at this stage is someone who can handle the development side of things, who's really good with young kids, who's focused on the little small parts early in their career that they're going to develop into really successful players. As you mentioned, Dean Cox, I guess if you look at the Sydney process and what they've been able to do, trying up their academy kids, develop guys that haven't probably performed as well at other clubs to be able to come over to Sydney, believing that the culture by end of the culture. So there's no doubt Cox, he would be one of the first of the young interview. You've also got folks like Nathan Buckley, who has been through a lot of calling and coaching them to a grand final, which obviously West Coast took the cup off of them. But there's so many people out there, whether they've coached before or had a good apprenticeship as far as an assistant, that they've made at West Coast, we're going to see. They're doing this job early with, you know, means that they've got enough time, they don't have to rush, you know, they can speak to all people they can, might be a possibility for that coaching round. Yeah, very true. They're ahead of the game now, aren't they? They were ahead of the clubs that are sort of in sort of limbo with their coaching group, whether it be assistants and/or seniors, whether that be for the one of the better club, Port Adelaide or Western Bulldogs or Western Kilda, sit with Ross Lyon where he goes the way they're going. So yeah, I think the card has fallen probably in favor of West Coast, not in favor of Adam Simpson, but either the football club has to move on and they do move on because on Sunday, they take on one of your teams, the Brisbane Lions in Dara Joyce Robinson, Devon Robinson, which is an interesting story and we've been harping on this all year. He flipped on his decision to come back to WA and join West Coast and he's barely got a game since at the Lions, but he gets a chance to play against West Coast in WA. So I don't know whether that's going to be a precursor to his future move. Jackson Pryor, of course, who's dad Michael Pryor is currently engaged and works with the West Coast Eagles. He's in the lineup. Darcy Ford, of course, provides their rut back and shadow brain. They lose Jack Payne, which is a real big injury. That's a foot injury. He'll be gone for six weeks in Brandon Starsevich with, of course, concussion. West Coast, well, they've gone straight into the young kids. This has been the call for many, many a long time for the West Coast Eagles fans. Harry Edwards, Luke Gebwood, Zane Tru, who's been knocking the door down for a while with his stats in the waffle. Ryan Merrick and Joy Cully McGovern, he's still on his way back for driving across the Nullibor and Campbell, Chesa, has been omitted. What sort of response from the West Coast Eagles and Brisbane and one other hot teams in the competition at the moment in regards to wins? Yeah, they are. Brisbane have sort of found their straps, I guess, after a shaky start to the season. But there's always a concern. Whatever a team loses a coach, we always know the interim coach has been a fair strike rate of them coming in and having some success. And the last time the Brisbane Lions coach was when Carlton changed their coach, and I think Peague coached for the first time, and Steve Brisbane, so there's no doubt. And this is the part that when a coach does a skips act, they're going to try kids. And this is the exciting part for the West Coast supporters, all these kids that they've had throughout the draft that have been able to see in the waffle, they finally get their chance to come and show what they can do and try and either put a hand up for another contract, put a hand up for more games towards the end of the year. So it is an exciting part for West Coast and the young stars, but I guess they are coming up against the team who are playing some really good football. So do you give West Coast any chance of an upset in Perth on Sunday? Probably only on the interim coach. They bring deliver to the spark, but let's be honest, if they bring in some more younger guys, and the Lions are pushing for just snuck into the eight for the first time. I think the Lions should win comfortably, but with West Coast at this stage, it's about development. It's about seeing young guys. It's about seeing who's going to put their hand up to try and play for West Coast for next year and the future years. James Sicily, Josh Warden, Cal Shadir return for Hawthorne. Mitch Lewis is next 12 months, or nine months is a bit grim for him. That's sad news on the back of his return. Jack Gunston, the old fella, has been not making the trip down to Tazoo, or he might make a trip down. He might be sitting on the bench and helping out. And Seamus Mitchell has been omitted. Patrick Voss comes in for Fremantle for the injured Sean Adasi. Huge game. Hawthorne were flat last week after doing a pretty good job over here against West Coast. So a flat against your long Fremantle have been outstanding. They beat Sydney and they did the job as required over Richmond, and they're coming with a bullet. This is probably one of the games that are round, no doubt. I think Hawthorne were flat because of the intensity that Geelong started. They had Tommy Stewart go into the midfield, they had Patty Dangerfield back. Sander Coing has been excellent in the rut for the last three weeks since he's been moved in there. The intensity of the Geelong midfield really shut down Hawthorne. And I think that's what Fremantle need to do. Fremantle's midfield are being exceptionally there. Their number one in clearances, I looked at it this way, they've had plus 127 clearances versus their Oppo. The next best is Sydney with 48. So I think you look through and go, how good has Brio's midfield been? You've got Bray through there, you've got Sir Wrong. And then the mix of Jackson and Darcy, I know Darcy's out this week, but Luke Jackson, when he's playing as a rock, he's been exceptional getting more of the ball and contested possession. So look, Brio's formed, especially since along we were going a little bit of a clip after the big loss of the ball. I've been seen to be able to turn it around and play in top four football. Not too many of those looking at their stats at the moment, I would imagine, but Josh Tracy's been simply outstanding. And isn't it nice? I mean, at the start of the, I mean, two years ago, he was looked like he could take in the world by storm, but probably wasn't putting in the work on and off the football field. Joy Amos was there, Keith Ford, and you talked about Luke Jackson, if he was Ford, but Josh Tracy's now re-stamped himself as one of the key targets, old fashioned key targets in the AFL. Yeah, he's a big, but he's flopping on the not-first door. We went across there with the draw with Collingwood, and I went and watched the day before the game, and he walked past, and he was massive. And you can understand now, what we've taken over these big contested marks, and then there's what you need. As a vocal point, you've got Jackson down there as well. When you've got a couple boats like that, then you've got Amos, who's, it's good to see, dog, he's slowly getting back on track, and a little bit more momentum as he kicks through the ball, he looks a lot nicer, but when he got Frederick down there, and Young's been able to hit the scoreboard, this is a part that they continue to grow. They're a young team, but that they've looked the goods, kind of thought, I can tell you, and with a good mix with that midfielder at the moment. Last one for you, I'd you appreciate your time. So, Sydney have lost two in a row. They're now only two games, clear a carton in second spot, Fremantle, Essendon, Geelong, Porte, and then Brisbane and Johnson, and teams outside the eight. Sydney are playing northbound, probably not a bad game for Isaac, and he'll be the car with the brown-eyed middle after his appeal got turned over last night, unfortunately for him. Sydney's still the team to be in your mind, or are we seeing a shaky Sydney swans over the last couple of weeks? I wouldn't be getting worried too much if I was Sydney. Look, if you still look at it, they had 27 scoring shots against St. Kilda. St. Kilda's normally very hard team to score, because we all know that Ross Lyon, Freo now, most of all, Ross Lyon's all about the defensive side of things, and trying to keep the ball, keep the ground really strangled. They hit the 11-gales, 16, I lost four, two points. So, if you sort of look at that, Sydney shouldn't be that worried about it. They're coming up against North Melbourne, because the last month, they've actually been very competitive, but I still think against Sydney, who's a good team. They get their skipper back in Mills this week, which is a great sign up for being out for a long period of time, but only too worried about Sydney just at this stage. Appreciate your time, Hodgey. Always enjoy our chats, mate. Have a great weekend of footy. Thank you, mate. Have a good weekend. There's Luke Hodge joining us. Of course, AFL Nation expert, Channel 7, and of course, Hawthorne champion with a touch of Brisbane. Scotty and Goss, no ash brassle today, flying solo, and thanks to Sonos Experience game-changing sound this season with Sonos. Luke Hodge joining us on Friday's Footy Free for All. We are rapidly approaching the Holy Grail. Base compression. Base compression. Proudly Australian-owned. Elevate your performance with base. You can visit base compression dot com. Time to get our tips out the way. Chris Kofunas is in the visitors chair at the moment. It's 93m, Hays still hanging around 91, Scotty 83, and Hammer to his disadvantage. Does his tips on a Monday? He doesn't mean the Western. I don't know whether he changes. They might change, and we don't know. We've gone with his tips from Monday. We go with Monday. All righty. So we are going to go through these tips, and we're going to go through each game right up and fair to say. So I'm winning this, which is standard. Yeah, it's a given. I'm second with, I'm in three, four tipping comps with the same tips, but the SEM ones that I'm in, the network, the SEMWA ones, I think I'm like 12, I don't know, and I did my tips at the start of the year. Yeah, killing it. I'm a genius. Yeah, I don't believe he's gone the Dwayne route, and it's working out for you. Anyway, let's get our teeth into the round that is. It starts all tonight, and we spoke to Luke Hodge. Hodgey will be involved in the telecast, of course. But Friday night, listening on SCN, the number one Friday night, coming to the team. Yeah, get around us. Jared Dwayne. Johnson and Jared Hill. Collingwood, Geelong MCG, our time 540. And we go through the changes. Collingwood bring back Noble, Elliot and McKinnis. They have dropped Dean and they have injuries to how and my technique, no change, to Geelong. How do the boys go with their tips? Hays has gone for the Collingwood magpires. Okay, don't repeat, Scots. Well, Scots, we know what he's coming for. And Hammer has gone for the cats. He's gone for the cats. He's trying to catch some up. Yeah, but the cats will start favourites. The cats are so unreliable for me, and I'm not saying they're an unreliable team, but for me, they are. Like, I can't tip them. I don't know. I don't know, you know? But that's half the teams in the AFL, isn't it really? More than half, probably. Adelaide have always been a dagger in my throat. Geelong for me, Geelong for me, but no confidence whatsoever. I mean, they could be down five goals to nothing at the start. You know, it's one of those games that our team will get the jump. Be hard to peg back. Yeah, Geelong for me. That's a big one, seeing as Hayes, who is closest, has gone pies. This could be either one that he catches up on, or one where you pull further ahead, huge. Exactly right. All righty. I see, I don't know what Hayes' tips are, so people saying to me that I get the advantage of seeing Hayes' and then going, "That's not the case." No. So I can assure you I do not know what Hayes has tipped. All righty, let's get our attention to the one that involves the three-metal lockers. Patrick Voss comes in, Sean Darcy goes out injured, and Hawthorne have lost Lewis injured, and they've, as I mentioned, to Hodgy, they are resting Jack Gunston and they've omitted Seamus Mitchell. They brought back in the skipper James Sisley, Josh Ward's a good player. Kelchidea, who got injured here against West Coast, also returns. For what it's worth, I'm going for Frio. Frio, winning forms, good goss, Frio for Hayes, Frio for Scotty, Frio for Hammer. Wow. Cross the board in Tazzy against the horse. Yeah, that's an interesting, and Rob, thank you for your text, Rob. Rob down in Hobart, who's listening to us on the app. Goss, big test for the doctors in Tazzy tomorrow. It'll be freezing down here, not sure if they can handle the conditions. But haven't been a great Tazzy team. No. Hawthorne are a good Tazzy team because they play there more often. Yeah. But winning forms, good form. Winning forms, good form. And as we know, I've been on this three-metal wagon for a long time, there's a lot of people always trying to get on with me. Yeah, unbelievable. You just laid the way, trendsetter Tim Gossage. Callum Mills is back for the Sydney Swans. Long time out, of course, pre-season antics. Isaac Heaney didn't get his suspension overturned. And Ward Loring for North Melbourne will Phillips. Can't take a trick. He has been omitted. Sydney win by a space. This game's at the ascension. I'm sitting here across the board. Everyone tipping the Swans. All righty. Western Bulldogs in Carlton, we start to get into these middle games. Now starts to get a little bit more serious. Cody Waichman returns, Carter Polter, also back the former Pie. James O'Donnell's injured, Norton's injured. March Bank and Pitnet return for Carlton. They lose McGovern injured. Both McGovern's out injured this weekend. And for Tazzy at Fantasia, he is omitted. And Patty Cripps plays his 200th game. The game is at Marvel. Carlton, winning form is good for. Yeah. You OK? Fantasia out. Oh, he's a big fan of his. Yeah, Carlton across the board. All that everyone tipping the Blues. Exactly. All righty. Adelaide's in Kilda. Wow. I will not be watching. Riley Thuthorpe, Hugh Bond in. Rankin suspended. Hinge injured. If Bond plays it, he's Bond. Hugh Bond. Brilliant. Riley Bonner and Zach Jones return. Bradley, he was out for personal reasons. And Windhager is injured. Two big outs from their midfield. Two big outs. Adelaide win. Yeah. Riley Bonner is such a star. Adelaide for you. Adelaide for Hayes. Riley Bonner. Yeah, I love him. Adelaide for. Riley Bonner's a star. Yeah. He scored a few good reasons for me and Fantasia. Adelaide for everybody except Hammer, who has gone the same to this. Yeah, no, you got that wrong. They can't win. Harrison Petty in for Melbourne, Max Gordon, as we know, injured. Some speculations have broken leg. Dyson Hippel is back. And Jason Lavette, the Frenchman, because he picked up Paisie's 100th Cade. Chandler Paisie's 50th game. Essendon of the Real Deal. Essendon for me. Oh, bombers for Goss. Melbourne for Hayes. This is huge. What a massive game. Yeah. Essendon for Hammer. Essendon for Scotty. So it is Essendon across the board, except for Paul Hazleby, who has gone the damage. One trip up. One trip up Essendon against Jellong. One trip up. So two teams have had trip ups against Jellong in the last two weeks. Yeah. Essendon and Hawthorne. Both we thought they were coming. But I think Essendon are better than that. I think they're well coached. Gold Coast take on Port Adelaide. We should have a song in our system. Yes, I'm a great pretenders. Because this is a clash of the pretenders. Yeah. Rose Ass. Is Bill Dempsey's great grandson, I think. Or grandson? There you go. Alex Davies. Jed Walter. Connor Butterick. And Lloyd Johnston. Light Lloyd Johnston. He could play it. Took Miller's injured. Huge Sam Minja. Sam Day is also injured. Dixon, McInty, Vicentini and Lorenz comes in. George Jardis is suspended. They're at home. Different team. Gold Coast. Gold Coast. Gold Coast. Gold Coast. Gold Coast. For everybody. I don't know how many I ask on this a bit. I think you might have had a one more. That's for me as well. I'm different than sons. All right. Richmond versus, please note, versus the Giants. Prestia. Ryan. Our boy, Steely Green. I am sailing. I am sailing. Putting on my rubber shoes. Just size and down. Seth Campbell managed. Came on the call of a minute. If you're starting to get admitted, this time of year and you're at Richmond. Oh, good. You're in trouble. Locky Ash. Zavro, hello and Jacob. We're returning for the Giants. No, no outs at this stage. Giants win. Wouldn't matter where this game is playing. GWS across the board. All righty. The last one for us, and don't forget Jared Scofield joins us shortly, is West Coast versus Brisbane. And it's not hard to say versus. Harriet Woods. Luke Edwards. Zane True. Thank god he's playing him. Sigurdle Speculage. Guilty. Ryan, Marrick and Joy. Kully. Oh, is he playing? Yeah, he'll play. Yeah. I think all of those. All those ins? Yeah, I reckon maybe Luke Edwards. I'm not sure. But I reckon the others will play. McGovern and Jesso. Mitted for Brisbane. Big out. Big out. Jackson Payne. Jack Payne. Brandon Starcevic also. Dara Joyce. Devon Robinson. Jackson Pryor. Darcy Ford. And Shadow Brain. Brisbane win. Brisbane win. I just want to see some spirit from West Coast. And I want to silence all these. West Coast Eagles fans who want to see all these kids. Well, you're going to get a chance to see them. Hopefully, we see them more than one week. They've got a bit of work to do. Yeah. Lions for you. Lions for Hayes. Lions for Hammer. West Coast for Scott. No, I'm kidding. He's gone Lions as well. I did want to stitch him up a little bit. But he's already that far behind. That doesn't matter. The man who has been given the reins of coach of the West Coast Eagles for at least the next seven weeks is interim coach after the departure of Adam Simpson. Scott, appreciate your time. I don't know if congratulations are the right word, but well done. It's a big shoes to fill at a very difficult time for everybody. And you must be looking forward to it in some type of way. Yeah, thanks, guys. Yeah, look, it's not ideal circumstances. One that we're probably not rather the being, but at the same time, it's a great opportunity for myself to get to help the club, get through the next seven weeks. And once again, it's a great experience. And it's something that I'm very grateful to be given this opportunity and really looking forward to it. Scott, did you push for the opportunity? Did they come to you? How did that all play out with Don Pike and the board? Yeah, well, things moved pretty quickly, as you know. And, yeah, just came off the track the other day on Tuesday and was approached by a putting manager in Gavin Bell and asked if I would like the opportunity and jumped at it. And obviously, yeah, trying circumstances. So you had to respect the situation for what it was at the time. But once they hit the ground running, you are really looking forward to it. How much information will you take out of your time with Simo, or how different will the team and the coaching style be with your leadership in the next seven weeks? Yeah, look, it's an interesting one. We want to make sure we've kept things pretty familiar to the playing group over the last couple of days. Nothing will change in terms of how we go about our captains running going to the game. So, but once we hit the ground running next week, they all outline sort of what we're really chasing in the back six weeks of the season. There's certain things that I think that we can really sort of target, which I won't go into those details. But, you know, we need to come together as a playing group, but we need to respect the situation and respect Simo and all the work that he's done over his 11 years for this footy club and then get through this weekend. And then we'll focus on what the next six weeks looks like. But there'll be some subtle changes, but not too many. It's not fair to the playing group, but at the same time, I really want to enjoy the experience with the players. And if I can add in any way, well, that's what I'm looking to do. But it's all about the club and how we can go about finishing up the season strongly. Have you been given any KPIs from anyone at a higher level? You talked to Gavin Bell, your football manager, or whether that be Don Piker, anyone else? Have you asked for some KPIs what you need to do if this is going to be your audition for the gig full-time? No, we haven't had those conversations. And I don't really see it as an audition, to be honest, because once again, it's part of a journey. You know, for all of us, we're always on a journey in life. And I'm blessed to be given this opportunity and experience to our coach. The club work started for me as a player many, many years ago. So I just see it as that as an opportunity. And it's all about the club and how we can get through the next six weeks. And as a playing group and as a football department, then we're looking to be better each week. And that's what we're looking to do. Yeah, you've made some changes at the selection. Do you think these changes, Harry Edwards, Luke Edwards, Zane True, Ryan Maggi, now, I don't know how you're all over social media. But your fans have been calling for youth, youth, youth, youth, youth over the last couple of weeks. You've dropped Campbell Cheser, which is a pretty big statement. McGovern's injured. Would these changes have happened anyway under Adam Simpson? Were these imminent changes or have you and your so-called new coaching hierarchy and decided to make these changes post Adam? Well, I think the players you just mentioned have played football this year. And yeah, look, the squad, yeah, we've got McGovern out. Yeah, look, we've given Cheser some feedback as to, you know, what do you, you know, we want him to do it while full level. And it's only about his growth as a footballer. Like he's a young man, 20 years of age. We've got to respect that. But the other players that are in the squad, yeah, look, they're right in the mix. And it's nothing, it's not so much about having to play youth. It's more about looking at players that are going to be given an opportunity on the back of some good football. And that's what we're looking to do over the next six weeks. It's about the exploration part and seeing what we have with our players. At the same time, when we're not going to hand out games to players, just for the betterment of social media or people's views, we're going to make sure that we look at players that we see for the future. And obviously, as I said, the exploration part is important. And I think we've played youth throughout the year. Like it's interesting when we hear that we've definitely played the youth this year. Neither the guys you mentioned, obviously, are younger than others. But I think we've been pretty consistent with selection. And then we've got six weeks to have a look at things. All righty. So then I've got to name names. And then we'll just talk about the game holistically for the West Coast Eagles against Brisbane. Huge game Sunday. You hear it all on SCN and Jared Scofields our get. Why has Zane True only had one quarter of football as a sub? And he's racked up stats. What's Zane True not done to not be selected until now? He hasn't done anything right or wrong. People might have followed Zane. Look, he's had a bit of an interruption throughout the year. He's got some good numbers in the waffle. But when he was in line for selection, I think it might have been our Gold Coast game. He unfortunately got knocked out at training. And then missed two weeks. It was nearly close to three weeks. So the timing hadn't been good at some at points when we were just about to put him into the side. But he showed some solid form. And then you look at the mix. Who does he replace in the midfield? When they've got the likes of Yo and Harley Reid playing there. So we try and get the right mix. It's not just about putting players in there. So but he's one that comes into the side this week with a great confidence and form behind him. And he gets an opportunity. Yeah, fantastic. And last one who's not in the team. What does Clay Hall have to do? His name keeps getting mentioned. I know he's only played 11 waffle games, but his numbers are pretty good. His tackle count was up on the weekend more than previous weeks. Everyone's asking Clay Hall, Clay Hall. When do we see Clay Hall? Surely if fitness is okay, surely we get to see him at least in the next six weeks sometime. Well, that's the plan, once again, as part of the exploration part with players. And yeah, he's formed for a young man in his first first season of real sort of senior football. He's had some really good moments at AFL trades. And then he's had some moments where he just needs to keep growing his game. And we've got to make sure once again, when he's ready to go, we want to put him in. So he can actually thrive in the AFL environment. And yeah, he's one of those players that will look at closely. And there's some things on his game that we're really sort of getting him to focus on in the waffle. And that's why we continue to chase with the individuals and, you know, they're ready when they come in. All righty, last one on selection. Jack Darling's been named on an extended bench. Can you share with the listeners right now? Because you're going to be asked his question later today. And you probably don't want to say, "Oh, I'm not going to tell you what selection is." But I think it's pretty obvious. Is Jack Darling going to play this way? Is it obvious, is it? I don't know. Well, we have another match committee meeting this morning because we've got a couple of players that we had to see get through training and see how they pull up. We had a pretty, I'd say, taxing. I'd say taxing sessionally yesterday. But we had a session where we're really sort of trying strongly. What we think is the standard of training. And we really sort of ramping up. So we had to see some players get through training. And we've got another discussion on a match committee meeting this morning, which we'll talk to about all players because there's some players that need to be reviewed. Do you want the job full time? Do I want the job full time? Oh, look, yeah, to be honest, because it's only hadn't really been on my radar, you know, and the period of the set is more about exploration and experiences and part of my life journey. And, you know, it's about my purpose. I love football. And I'm just looking forward to this experience. I've been able to help the club through that. And we'll see where it goes. All righty. Now, then I flip that around. If someone else comes in and there's all been all talk about possibles and probables, are you contracted to stay at the footy club? And do you want to stay even if you're not the first choice this time around? Well, there are a few of us who had a contract, and I'm one of them. As I said, I'm just here to do a job. And I'll do it. I'm going to give it my best over the next seven weeks or six games. And we'll let the people in charge to make those decisions, make those decisions. But I love the game and I want to be in the game. Yeah, very much so. Do you think taking over from Adam Simpson at this stage is tougher than taking over from someone you know very closely at the Subioko Colts way back in about 2008? I was waiting for that guy. I was waiting for that. So what you're saying is that you've had a massive input into my characteristic stage. I love it. Yeah, yeah. No, I did learn a few things from you. I did learn a few things because I won't repeat on radio. Are you excited about the weekend? I know it's been difficult. I know it's been difficult. And you're part of that coaching group that has had this group under Adam Simpson. But in a holistic way, is Jared Scofield excited about the prospect of the next seven weeks? Yeah, I am really excited. Once again, it's a great opportunity to coach one of the best clubs. If not the best club in the AFL with 100,000 members, supporters that come out week in week out of supporters who might have been some trying times over the last couple of years. And I'm super excited to be a part of that with the playing group. And we'll see where it goes with that. One last text from a listener. He just said, can you ask Goey? Are you going to move the magnets around? Are we going to see something different? Is it going to be a little bit chaotic? I wouldn't say chaotic. There'll be some method behind maybe a couple of positional changes, obviously with the selection. But we've got to be very composed and controlled with what we do. Because as much as it might look good on paper, we've got to think of the players in the playing group for most, so that's the most important thing. But it's all about the future. And the next six, seven games is about that. You're a good man. Appreciate you coming to the phone. You're going to be in the hot seat today with all the assembled media. Mate, appreciate your honesty. You've always been honest with me. And we go back a long way. Mate, congratulations on getting the reins for the next seven weeks. And whatever the future holds, I hope there's a couple of wins in for you in the next month or two. No, thanks God. Appreciate your support. There's Jared Scofield. He's a ripper. I like him. And I think he will coach an AFL team one day. And he's been kind enough to join us exclusively here on SNWA Preface. Hope you enjoyed that chat as much as I did. He'll be doing his press conference. But what I have gleaned out of it. Jack Darling's no certainty to be making the team. But anyway, it might have something to do with the fact Jake Waterman hasn't done a lot of training. He has got that cut behind the leg. There's nothing majorly wrong, but they do want to rest it as much. So that might be a bit to do with where Jack Darling's going. But Zane True definitely, definitely according to the words that I heard from Jared Scofield. We'll be playing. I hope you enjoyed that chat as much as I did. Hey, well done, guys. Our thoughts are with our Brazil. She's got some family health issues at the moment, but she'll be fine. That's just a tough one. Well done, Chris Clafunas. Well done to you, Griff. Thanks for listening to our show today. Stay on SCN throughout the week. And what has been a crazy week for WA football. Good luck to the doctors in Tassie. Good luck to the Eagles at Optus Stadium. Been a big week on behalf of everyone at SCNWA Preface. We'll catch you Monday. Footy Fallout will continue. Six o'clock Monday morning.
