[Music] Friday footage at 4 As we base compression, base compression proudly Australia known to elevate your performance with base. [Music] Hey, good morning. Good morning to you, your fellow, your my friend. We really will. Ash is here and Scotty from base wars here. And Scotty from base war has one question for you. He just wants to ask you this question. Of course, you've got form in regards to ragging out Collingwood. What would you like to? Hey, I really want you to dump on Hawthorne real hard, mate. Just tell me they're completely written off, they're useless. They've got no hope in the next 10 years. Our ring metal guarantees about five flags. Give it to my mate. We'll see what happens this week. Big game for the Hawks. They take on to Longwood. I believe, I'm actually a real believer in the Hawthorne food club and what they're building. But I also got our tips a bit later too. Tim and Collingwood and Ashman tonight. I'm tempted to go to bombers tonight. Really? All right, we'll find out what's coming up. Hey, hey, he's got a couple of little subject matters before we get to our tipping. And just so everyone knows that, I don't know, there's three blokes that are in the tipping competition. Hamish, Brace, Shaw, Paul, Hazellby and Scott Cummings. And then there's me. Just let everyone know that I'm winning. Anyway, when we came in this morning, we found Ash, what did you find and where you were seated? A pretty chunky wallet. And what else did you find? Just a green jacket that I might be stealing. Do you know who owns these guys? Moneybags Martin. Moneybags Martin, I think, has left these money there. There was the wallet, it's full. A lot of cash in there, I assume. The cashy jobs he does around there. Hello to the ATO. A lot of receipts as well, a lot of receipts. Hey, just quickly say, yeah, he has left him and he has contacted us as well. Hey, Hayes, word is, it's school holidays. You haven't buckled, have you? Have you buckled for the kids? Yeah, I buckled, yeah. They probably took five years. They've been testing me, testing me for a dog. And David Martin was in the same position not too long ago. And there you go, wait. And he got a dog and he said, "Mark, don't do it, don't do it." No. And I caved. I went out yesterday and didn't plan on it. We went out for breakfast and then said, "Righto, let's go get it." Went to a couple of pet shops and before we knew it, we had a little dog. What dog have you got? Erm, what do you mean? It's like having a newborn again. It's got to happen. It's got to be a Voodle, that's right. It's got to be a Voodle. Cavalier, cavoodle, Vingle. Oh yeah. What's its name? Okey. Okey. Righty, Okey. Well, mate, I've got two dogs and three cats and they all belong to the kids and they ever come to us and about two weeks after we've got them all. Not a single kid as fed a cat, walked a dog, picked up a dog poo, nothing. I do it all. Oh. I pay for you. Yeah, I've got the contract. And let me tell you, Paul, let me tell you, Paul, apart from the chemists, from my mental health tablets and all that sort of stuff, and petrol, it's where I spend money the most is the vet. It is, seriously, if you're going to come back in another life, come back as a vet. I should have had a chat to you before I do it, Tim. They're working together all these years. I know. I do apologise. Well, good luck to, what's its name again? Okey. Okey. Hey, and Stan has been named Captain and we've got, we've got Ash Brazel, who's on the leadership group at Fremantle and we walked in from the car park this morning and, you know, just after 4.30. And I can tell you, I can tell you that I did not stop yapping in her ear, all the way in here. I am astounded by this captaincy decision at Fremantle. Ash has got her reasons. We'll talk more later. What's your view on this? Three injuries, and Ash is the next captain of the Fremantle doctor. That's all she needs. We just set up the logo down there. Yeah, I was astounded too. It made no sense for me. It speaks volumes, of course, of the captain who's been, you know, the honour and standard in terms of how good she's been. She's a people person. She was fantastic with the football that she played in recent times, but it also speaks a lot about Hayley Miller, and I feel for Hayley Miller in this situation. I love the way she came out, was honest and open and admitted that it hurt, but it would hurt because clearly I think the decision's more about her not being the captain than rather Anne's being the captain, so to speak. So I think you're big to play out, and hopefully it goes well for everybody involved, but it's not an ideal situation going into a season. Okay. There you go. There you go. You've got a platform here. You're involved in the voting of it. You're on the leadership group. The band standard is Captain. Hayley Miller, the former captain, he's not the captain, she's a vice captain. Are you comfortable with your captain of your football club not playing this year? Oh, definitely. Yeah, I don't like, obviously I don't see a problem with it. You look at the swans at the moment, and their captain hasn't played one game yet, and they're sitting at the top, so obviously he wasn't, Colin Mills wasn't injured at the start when he got named to captain, but I do think, you know, I think when I started my career, the captain was your best player. I think that's now changed, and it's probably what the captain can do off the field more than on the field, and you're looking at your best players now. A lot of them aren't real leaders, and they don't do the extra coffee to make sure everyone's all right. They're there to, the best players are there to play, and that's all they have to do, so yeah. It's a tough one, and I hear your points. I just think sport has changed so much in the last, I even reckon two to three years, that the way you look at a leader now is so different. And like you guys, I feel for Haley, I've been in the exactly the same position she is, it hurts. Haley is very open and honest about that, but the last two sessions we've had, she's absolutely ripped up the field, so if that's anything to go by to show you how she, the perfect leader she is, she's done really nothing wrong, and she's just done everything right. Okay, that's a terrific response there, so well done to Anne Stannard. I still find it befuddling personally from an outsider looking, and I find it really odd. Anyway, the Eagles' youngsters, they haven't gone hard with the Eagles' youngsters' installation again, Paul Haysby. I do think Campbell Chester is in the gun this week. Yeah, I believe so too, he didn't play that well last week. Can you talk about the Eagles' youngsters? You go through this team, and that's probably what's most frustrating. This is not a young Eagles' team, it wasn't a young Eagles' team on the weekend. In terms of the competition, I think they were about number six or seven. They were far older than the Hawthorn football club they played on the weekend, and you go through their first-year players, Harley Reid, a pretty good player. Second-year players, Ruben Jinby, high draft pick, and Brady Hoch. That's it from the weekend, so the excuse of young players at the West Coast doesn't work on me, and I think that's the challenge is to try and get a few of them in and expose a few more with that is the inconsistency, but you may as well do it because the inconsistency has been there, they've lost their last five. Alrighty, so in regards to all of this, there's an article today, the West Australian espousing that they've got coming to contact with some texts from a senior player and some young players who aren't supportive of Adam Simpson, one, we could all fly that kite. A few of the players who've been throwing texts around and that's coming to the hands of a journal, I'd be a little bit concerned. Should Adam Simpson be concerned by this type of talk, and I don't think he would care, to be honest, but do you think it is a start of the rot at West Coast if this type of stuff is real? I don't like it, I've been in a situation where a few times when loose lips sink ships in the old saying, and when things aren't going well for the individual and things aren't going well for the same, the easy thing is to winge and complain and not look internal at your own performance, and on the weekend a lot of that was about their own performance, those individuals, you know, for those individuals if it does come out, and I hope the West Australian you know, do bring it out, and at least the club and Adam Simpson may be towards what has transpired, and then they can have some of those stern discussions going forward. It's not ideal, but the whole season hasn't been ideal, and it makes it a little bit more difficult for him to keep on going, in my opinion. So Ash, in regards to that, if you're a player inside a group, and let's go straight back to the Hailey Miller situation, Hailey's really unhappy that she's not captain, but you saying she's responded great in the handstand as the captain, and we get all that, taking this point where there's internal texting going on and messaging, you want to be careful, wouldn't you? Oh yeah, and it's, I think inside, obviously the noise outside is all about the coach, and this is just confirming it, but for inside, you're now losing the trust of your team mates who've spoken up, people are them blaming, and it just becomes like bigger than anything before, and the conversation then doesn't even, it's not even about the coach internally, it's about who's leaked it, who's having these conversations, who can you trust? And I think that's when things get messy. Yeah, I do think, I mean, again, the west have gone with this, and we're not questioning whether it's, whether this is valid and whether it's not true, but we could all float that. I mean, I could say to you, I've had a text from a West Coast Eagles player that they're not happy, they're not getting a game, and they think seems some stinks, unless I actually show someone. Yeah. How do we know it's true? What happens will happen, because that's sport, but when it gets out to the media, that's when it's not great. And the reality is too, Tim, in a team, in a list of 42, there's often 20 that aren't happy, if they're not a game, and you look at the ones at the West Coast Eagles now, but they're consistently not getting a game, there's quite a list to choose from. Yeah, exactly right. Put your head down, you bum up and work harder. Do you give them any hope, we're going to go to the tips in a moment, do you give them any hope of beating Melbourne? I do. I actually do. I do see G, big stage, hurting after last week, Melbourne's team, look at their paper, and they've got a lot of premiership players, and it looks really strong, do you give them any hope? Yeah, I do. I have to because probably in performance, and there's a number of great players still on the list for the West Coast Eagles, and when you put in a performance like that, it was listless on the weekend, and they will respond, there's no doubt, can the system and can they sustain it for four quarters, that's the challenge, but they do it against the Melbourne team who really, really, really need a win, if they were to drop this one, that would get ugly for the Melbourne Football Club, and Simon Goodwin, and the pressure almost shift from Adam Simpson to Simon Goodwin, but I do have some concerns on the way Melbourne are played, they're better last time out against Brisbane, but their four-line, and probably the evidence of that is Jake Melkham back in straight away, up to 12 mark, a big call, but he's sort of that glue player in the four-line they've missed, so there's some desperation there, but a still thing, Melbourne will just get there. Alrighty, yeah, pretty hard to tip the West Coast Eagles after what we saw last week, but Melbourne's team looks mighty fine again, and you just get this feeling, even though Bali Fritsch hasn't had a super season, he's likely to, he's the one that jumps up and kicks seven or eight against West Coast, he's bound to do it. Anyway, let's go through our tips, so just before we go, are these numbers correct, are they updated, are you sure? 88 me, 86 Hayes, 79 Scott, 77 Hammers are just confirming on to in front. Alrighty. No wonder you're getting me on every week, it's just me and you, isn't it? Yeah, I know. The others have been terrible, to be honest, they talk up at a big game, but they fail to deliver. Alrighty, let's go to the tips. Yeah, so tonight we've got Collingwood V Essident at the MCG, you have mentioned that you're going for Essident, please explain. Well, you know, I've got this theory on a Friday night, Thursday and Friday night, there's so many examples of the underdog actually winning, no rhyme or reason, but on a Friday night, it seems to be that game that everybody gets themselves up for. Last time these two teams played, they had a draw, and I've felt Essident were the better team. They're not going that well, Collingwood have some concerns, I think it's a 50-50, I'm going to go with the bombers to try and get one back on Goss. Goss and Hepple managed. Big game, big game to be managed. Yeah, they've got a few, they've got a lot of those types of defenders as well. They've got them two 50 last week, Todd Goldski, who also managed as well, which I think is the right way to go. I don't think the two Rucks is working. We talk about the two Rucks situation a lot with 3O and a bit now with West Coast, when Flynn was just back into the side with Bailie Williams, it doesn't work that well, and I think they've made the right call and just go with Sam Draper. Yeah, I'm going for Collingwood, only because it's Collingwood, and I still think they're a massive contender, and I thought they were pretty gallant the other day, so I've gone for Collingwood, you've gone for Essident, and Scotty and Hammer have also gone for the pies. Yep, on Saturday we've got North, these sons, is it time that the sons get a win on the road? Pass to be, pass to be, if they've got any plan of playing finals for the first time, they just have to win this game. We both did the sun last week, didn't we? I think you copied me against Collingwood up there, and they were good for the most part. They struggled a bit late, but they found a way, and they should do it against North Melbourne. Yeah, cannot possibly tip North Melbourne, McCurture in for Zach Fisher's injured, and that's a key, because Zach Fisher's been a bit of a barometer in regards to getting the ball out of that back line and getting them moving, and Ned Moylin for Jared Wits, that's a handy replacement. Gold Coast for all of us down the page, Gold Coast, Scotty, Hammer, Hays, and yours truly. Paul Adelaide and Western Bulldogs, Adelaide Oval, the Battle of the Unreliable. It is, isn't it? A few outs for the Western Bulldogs, they've got some sore players. I think I'm going to go Port Adelaide, when in doubt, go with the home team, and that's what I'm going to do here. They were horrible last week, and the horrible guy, they get St Kilroy, but St Kilroy does that to you, back in front of their fans, and strangely enough, the team wins this, but particularly in Port Adelaide, it's sort of back in the mix after being under favour of pressure. I'll go, Port Adelaide for you, Port Adelaide for me also, just because it's in Adelaide. I don't like either of these two teams, Scotty and Hammer have gone for the Bulldogs. No Cody Waiteman, I think that's massive, and they don't have Liam Jones down back, even though Port Adelaide's forward line stinks, and I've got some really underachievers down there. I would be tipping Port only because it's at home. Geelong V, the Hawks in Geelong. Hawks are sitting thirteenths, but you watched them last week, can they get the win? I thought the challenging game last week was for the Hawks off the bike, reading their own press, coming over here playing as full strength West Coast, and they were just unbelievable. They're handled from stoppages as good as I've seen in the AFL competition, so I think they can do it, like in the midfield of Geelong V's suspect, they're getting up supply, and I think down the gallery, they don't have the same record in recent times, they've been beating a few times, and I think the Hawks can do it again. Yeah, Scotty from Bayes want to not happy that you've hit the hall, Donnie. Now he's now rushing out to hand in his membership. Mitch Lewis is back, but they lose Sicily after that shoulder. I didn't think, Sicily was brave last week, he did that shoulder, and Clifunus told us from the boundary line that it popped out. I thought it was just a stinger. I think I said it 17 times, and he's out, that's a big out. Geelong, in Geelong. Geelong for me, Geelong for Scotty, Hawthorne for Hayes, and Hammer. GWS Giants vs. Carlton. Do I say it right this week? No, versus, let me repeat, GWS Giants versus Carlton. That's my girl. Five thirty in Sydney. What are we thinking? Ash, am I entitled to let Tim go first? Because this is a competition? I feel like it's always ready to see what I do. Oh, Hayes, how long are we going to take? We need some thinking music, because it might take a while if you don't. Hell, I just sucked him in, you finally clicked. Well done, Paul. Smart work by you. So, gosh, give us an answer. Very good question, you asked two dogs. Ah, Rodio. Deconing back, Cottrell back, they do lose. You had been omitted. That's a surprise. No, Kelly, you huge out for GWS. I'm going for Carlton. I think they're the real deal. I'm going to stop thinking that they're not Carlton for me. Yeah, I'm going to go with Carlton too. I'm tempted to go to Giants in this one. It's the sort of game I normally would wait for a response, but they've been pretty average for a long time. They do have a few that are concerned. So, the Blues for Mike. Big game, Fremantle, V, Richmond, Optus Stadium, 610 PM. Yeah, I'll go first. Okay, Fremantle. Oh, confidence. Yeah, 17 injuries. 17 injuries for Richmond throughout the week, so there's no way they can come over here and beat the Fremantle Dockers. No. Ah, so heading into Sunday, we have Melbourne V, the Eagles. Yeah. MCG. What are you thinking, Gus? It's still looking at you. Yeah, I'll definitely go first. I'm tipping Melbourne only because it's at the MCG. I'm aiming for an improved effort from West Coast. I worry about Waterman. I worry about McGovern's fitness. Melbourne's team, if I looked at it and didn't look at their form and look where they are in the ladder, I would say they're almost protractorless. They're at full strength. Melbourne will win. If I was an Eagles fan, anything less than five goals is a win, and I wouldn't be surprised that they caused the upset, but the demons for me. They just have to win. Harley Reid, last time was the difference. Yeah. It's floated, but I think they'll make sure they've got to match up for that and not let him off the chain. So, Melbourne's win after the year will show some fight early. They just have to show some part. St Kewter versus the Sydney Swans. Marvel Stadium versus the Sydney Swans at Marvel Stadium. It's just such a silly word. No, it's not. It's the right word. All righty. After a loss last week, everyone tipped the Swans. Yeah, we did. Fair enough. They're sitting first. What do we think? You can go first. Hey, sir. I'll let you. There's a lot of changes there. They've brought in a lot of blokes, Philippu, Howard, Memory, Jones, Burns and Patton. No, Max King, too. He's the big out, not that he was that good, particularly early, and then he sustained that injury. Well done to him for playing through that, but the team's there playing some ugly, sweetie. I'm not sure what they're doing. I know that they've backed in Ross line for four years, but I don't know. They just need to start playing a decent brand. Every ugly game of footing in the time capsule involves Ross line and St Kewter. I don't think he's copying enough heat, to be honest, but all he's delivered. They played finals for you last year. He's protected. He's seriously protected. He's saw in media. You see a few of the media talk about people over here in the Perth media protecting our coaches, but they're just as bad over there. I'll be going Sydney. At the M's and gets away with Blue murder and the nine network, too. No one's holding him accountable. Don't worry about that. It was always going to happen. Oh, yes, Sydney, easily. And the last one, Brisbane, who are they playing? Brisbane, the Adelaide Crows, at the Gaba. Both teams coming off a win. Yes. Brisbane for me. They are back. Adelaide will do a little bit of damage on the run home, particularly at their home venue, but I think Brisbane will be too strong. Try to get the run home in there, did you, mate? I did, yeah. Give us later on tonight. No idea what we've got. Listen, later on this afternoon, I should say. Yeah, it's going to be good. You can't wait for what time you're on today. Three to five, as always. Someone says you're camping. Are you camping or are you just out the back with the crows? No, just out the front of the house, yeah. In front of the house. On the balcony? On the balcony. They've got two stories. Three stories? Why? Careful. I've got to try and sell it. Yeah. I'll sell it while you're still in it. I'll do it for special price for you, 2.25%.
